WHAT A QUESTION!!!! oh man... obviously I have to plug the "so you want to listen to thursday" playlist by the besties at @thursdayarchive, who know infinitely more than I do about thursday and to whom I owe my life. I'm an album based girlie, though, so here are some thoughts.

if you're looking for just a song to get you hooked, their most well known song is understanding in a car crash, for good reason. it fucks severely, and if you like it, you should listen to the rest of full collapse (thursday's breakthrough album). it's a very fucking good album and I am listening to my cd of it right now.

if you're deep in late stage capitalism, another great first thursday song is another album opener, for the workforce, drowning, from war all the time, their first record on a major label. war all the time is a bit more polished and political than full collapse, and is also full of bangers. (if we're talking war all the time, I have to give a shoutout to the album closer, tomorrow i'll be you, which makes me and the mutuals insane on a regular basis.)

arguably their most accessible album is their last one, no devolucíon. synth that goes insane (everyone say thank you andrew everding). try turnpike divides! it's about the need to escape and the knowledge that on some level you never will :)))

I'm currently in a city by the light divided world. when sugar in the sacrament hits... ohhhh baby.

if you want to see a music video that displays how much of an English major geoff was and has music that goes crazy, watch the ladies and gentlemen: my brother, the failure video. it's good. kafkaesque, even.

a few other hits - paris in flames, asleep in the chapel, jet black new year, a gun in the first act, at this velocity, dying in new brunswick, fake nostalgia.
