Bellona smiled, stretching back on the old boxes she was sitting on, hand on her bump as she stared lovingly at her mate and eldest kit. Merlinite was teaching their little Alonzo how to do pirouettes.

She truly couldnt believe how much she loved her little family, and the fact that they were so soon to welcome two more kittens just made her heart sing.

Bustopher had dropped by not long ago, with enough rice pudding to last a few days, Bellona knew he would be back in time for her to give birth, along with Jenny and Jelly of course.

She missed the rest of jellicles dearly, but this was what was safest for her family, and as an now ex Protector, she wouldnt hesitate to make sure her family was safe. So she chose to live in the moment, and embrace the life she and her mate were making together.

Merlin picked up Alonzo and spun him around, filling the air with bubbles as the kit laughed. Bellona smiled, as she enjoyed her moment of happiness.

Pennyfathing

Penny grinned as Quaxo twirled around him in dizzying circles. Their impromptu picnic turned dance show being their entertainment for the evening.

He clapped as Quaxo took a bow, the kittens fur glittering like star light. Pennyfathing was entranced, his bestfriend was capable of such wonderful things and he was lucky enough to be allowed to watch him and the little bits of magic he would harness when he preformed.

You could probably call the kit star struck, and Penny wouldnt bother denying it. He loved Quaxo. And he loved every little moment he was able to spend with him, even if it was eating a mouse on a dusty old blanket in a forgotten alley.

Penny moved to let Quaxo snuggle up against him, tired after doing so much spinning.

A warmth spread through his chest as he remembered the offer he was given a few days ago, a new tribe looking for magical cats and fighters. He knew now he was going to except the offer, and bring Quaxo with him so they could become powerful mates just like he had said!!

But for now, Pennyfathing let them just sit there in comfortable silence, two kittens cuddling on a dusty old blanket, enjoying a moment of happiness.

Kismet was a blushing mess! Never once before, had they met a person who could get them this flustered than Etcetera.

Once a calm and collected Protector of the Streat Cats Tribe, now a blubbering bundle of words trying to make sence, and they couldn't be happier!

Their tibes had been working together more closely after the passing of old Deuteronomy, and so they had bumped into eachother as if only fate itself had brought them together!!

And well, Kismet couldn't help it, they were smitten at first sight. Etcetera was just so sweet and excitable, if only a bit loud, but that didnt matter when she looked at them like they carried the sun in the sky.

Their leaders had approved, Old Jillymonty and Lady Jemima even offering for them to switch tribes if they wished, but the two had agreed of spending time in both for now.

Kismet had fallen in love with the best queen in the world, and the moment she asked to be mates was the happiest moment of all.

The Kittens

Hiraeth and Eglantine sat talking on top of the old car, and Cecily sat not too far away on the tire. Together with Lucideus and Tilibubble, as they were the oldest, they were all on babysitting duty while most of the adults were all of hunting.

They didnt mind the arrangement, it was nice not to spend the morning getting dragged around by Jelly and Asparagus doing chores.

Most of the younger kittens were in the main clearing, being entertained by Luci as she put on a mini show with all the dance moves she had learned from Bombalurina! Melon and Diotima stepping in to be her back up dancers, as Hiraeth sang for them from his little perch.

Yippee, Dyluela, Aggie and Pumpkenna sat at his feet, switching from watching Hira and the show.

Atlas sat up near Tili in the watch tower, Noddy, the youngest, sat on his lap as he chatted quietly to his aunt. The three much preferring to watch their friends where it wasnt as loud.

The Deuteronomy - Jones litter were mostly watching the performance, the triplets making sure to join in singing with their cousin, along with Russet and Azalea, when the moments called for it! Though the oldest, Maxinellie was taking a nap by Cecily's feet.

Admetus and Aristotle were also having their morning snooze in the pipe.

Finally MollyMay, Oopsie daisy and Elysian were all cuddled making daisy chains by the nursery.

All in all, the day wasnt that special, it was normal as any other, but if you would find there the meaning of what happiness is, in a moment like this.

i think im most proud of “dine & dash” which im aware probably no-one has read, but getting chris o’doyle’s sassy little dialogue down was like taming a wild beast,,, otherwise, considering my more well-known work, i rly liked writing “honey, i’m home”. i go crazy for the unhinged readers (if u couldnt alrdy tell lmaooo) and seeing jackson get messed with like that was a real treat.

i seriously just recommend anything by @mypoisonedvine,,, they’re literally genius & are the reason i started writing for cillian:)!! other mentions include kitten fics by @pictureinme and, a personal fave, @floralcyanidee’s jackson rippner mile-high club fic!!! these writers are all incredibly talented and im just blown away at their work every single time🫶

my thirst is such a big motivator for writing LMAO😭i wrote “guinea pig” ‘cus i wanted to absolute wreckkk jonathan crane and have him be a sub, and i got a 6.8k words long fic out of said thirst! music & book quotes motivate me a lot too— i spend sm time digging thru my pinterest for a good quote for the beginning of my fic its actually insane☠️and yes,,, im ashamed to say ive abandoned fics numerous times,,, but thats because they were series’, not oneshots. i get bored of series’ pretty quickly, ‘cause i feel kind of trapped by the initial dynamic or mood set in the first chapter. with oneshots, its like writing one long chapter of this trope and this kink or whatever and then its done, and i dont have to exhaust myself going back to tropes or kinks or storylines ive already done.

i think reading made me a better writer. expanding my vocabulary through the words of others was a biggie; seeing something be described in a certain way in someones story had me thinking of out-of-the-box ways to describe another thing (that doesn’t make much sense but lets pretend it does😭). i have many, many doubts about my work, like constantly, but i usually just suck it up. i sound like an attention whore but seeing the reposts & comments & tags on my other work reminds me people like what i’ve written before and certain people will enjoy what ive written now, so i should just finish my work for them. i also take like 100 years rereading my stuff until i think its good enough lmao,,,

he wasn't even looking for that damn kit. he was looking for a normal, simple, diamond necklace with his initials on it for you to wear. but the kit popped up on his suggestions and ransom cannot get the image out of his head- you wearing his blood around your neck everywhere you go. and as much as he likes his current necklace, he kinda wants to wear you around him too.

This is the product of when you have your music on shuffle while writing and that one song comes out of nowhere... (the number of times I've g noted myself is kind of ridiculous lmao)

Virgil was one of the traits that always seemed mildly bored or irritated by whatever was going on, Roman had never been able to phase him with anything.

That was until he discovered something during his usual exploration of the Internet.

He was on YouTube watching Disney song covers when he fell down the hole of recommended videos and suddenly found himself looking at crack videos.

He didn't even realise until he glanced at the time and noticed it was almost 2 in the morning which was nothing compared to the emo nightmares late nights but for him, who usually fell asleep around half 11, it was really late.

Roman had been about to shut his laptop down but he caught a glimpse of a comment in the comments section and couldn't curb his curiosity.

He scrolled down to the comment that had caught his attention.

There should have been a G note warning or something but this was an amazing video!

He frowned, what were they on about? He decided to just search G note warning and see what came up.

He immediately discovered what it meant and grinned, a mischievous idea forming in his head.

If Virgil was as much of an emo nightmare edge Lord of Darkness as he made himself out to be, surely this would phase him?

Roman put his laptop away and fell asleep, grinning at the thought of finally having something to combat Virgils sarcastic remarks.

The next day Roman went about doing his usual thing, waiting for Virgil to make some sort of comment.

"Why are you staring at me Roman? Or did you just mistake me for a mirror again Mr Arrogant?" Virgil quipped, raising an eyebrow at him.

Roman grinned and pressed play on his phone, the volume up full blast.

"What are you....?" Virgil started to ask in confusion and then that all too familiar sound hit his ears and he let out an inhuman noise of distress.

He bolted from the room and Roman snorted with laughter, pausing the music as he struggled to regain his composure.

"What just happened?" Patton asked, walking into the room. "Why did Virgil lock himself in the bathroom?"

Roman couldn't reply because he was still recovering from laughing so Patton looked at Logan for an answer.

Logan sighed, turned the page in his book and muttered "Roman 'g noted' him."

"Oh no, not this again." Patton said with wide eyes which narrowed as he took in the sight of Roman laughing. "Roman, what on earth did you do that for?"

"I.... Uh.... I thought it would be funny?" Roman said uncertainly making it sound like more of a question.

Patton shook his head "This is no laughing matter, Virgil is like a fluffy bunny or kitten with a slight attitude and what you just did is the equivalent of shutting a kitten or bunny out in a rainstorm."

Logan had given up on his book and got to his feet. "I'll go see if I can coax him out of the bathroom before he uses up all his eyeshadow again, he only got a new one last week."

Patton nodded as Logan left the room and continued to scold Roman.

Logan knocked on the bathroom door his nose wrinkling as he could practically smell the eyeshadow through the door. "Virgil?

There was shuffling and the door cracked open slightly so Logan could see Virgil.

"What?" Virgil asked in a low quiet voice.

"This is all Romans fault, how about you go get him back?" Logan suggested, holding back a smirk as he remembered what Virgil had done last time and wanted to see how Roman would react.

Virgil stepped out of the bathroom, his clothes all black, the eye shadow around his eyes darker and more racoon like than ever before, his bangs pulled right over his face and his hair seemed to be darker somehow.

He pulled his hood up and walked out to where Patton was still telling off Roman.

As soon as Virgil entered the room Patton fell silent and looked at him with concern in his eyes.

Virgil walked directly up to Roman who was getting nervous from the tense silence.

"Why would you do that?" Virgil wailed and slumped against Roman, sobbing and crying into him, purposefully rubbing his face against Romans white outfit so the black eyeshadow would stain it.

Roman looked over at Patton in alarm and then glanced at Logan who had entered the room again with a smug look on his face.

As he noticed Roman looking at him Logan mouthed the words "get ready for an entire day of this."

Roman gulped and looked down at Virgil who had ruined his outfit. He was definitely regretting his decision now.

In the quiet, dim hospital room, everything in the world is right. 

He reclines comfortably on the bed next to Scully, chin resting on her shoulder. 

Her eyes slowly blink open. His daughter fills him with a sense of wonder he hasn’t felt since the first time he held his son. Like her brother, she rose above every odd, and fought her way to life. 

She is destiny. She is a miracle. 

New to the earth, Mulder can already see she embodies all the best parts of her mother. The innocence on her face mirrors the determined, fluffy haired woman that walked into his office nearly three decades ago. 

Choosing a name for a miracle is an almost insurmountable task. 

“Let’s call her Katherine.”

How do you name a miracle? After her mother, of course.

“Your granddaughter is just beautiful.” 

She gives a tight-lipped smile, Mulder barely manages a polite nod. How can she be so bothered by strangers in the park?

Because granddaughter. Jesus. 

The look on her young obstetrician's face, she practically wanted to call Katherine her grandchild while the umbilical cord was still attached. 

She sometimes wonders if she saw a family like hers in her 20s, would she have judged? What would she have thought first, granddaughter or daughter?

Katherine has no awareness of the fact that her parentage is seen as different. Really, she should follow the the toddler’s lead. 

Eyes to the ground with her pensive gaze, Mulder lifts their daughter from the swing. She’s drawn back by the sensation of chubby fingers in her hair, sloppy baby kisses on her cheek.

Green grass, light past seven, balls worn from use flying through the open yard.

In a Mulder home of any generation, baseball is life. 

He swears to Scully that he’s encouraging her interest, not influencing it. He only concedes to listening to sports radio during many sleepless nights during the first year.  

“Katie Mantle steps up to the plate,” Mulder murmurs. “Even in the pre-season, she is playing a perfect game.” 

Katherine purses her lips at him, slightly lifted at the corners. Her eyes are all determined concentration.

Mulder pitches slow, underhand, and he can’t help but be amazed by his child when the ball flies behind him.

“I hate you!”

“Katherine Grace Mulder!” Mulder snaps. He is in his defensive position behind her, ever ready to step in as referee in one of their increasingly common mother/daughter throw-downs. 

A product of her father’s genetics, Katie is almost as tall as her at 11. With that age, it was only a matter of time before the three words every mother dreads and anticipates leave her mouth. 

“She doesn’t mean it,” Mulder assures her. From upstairs, the door slams harshly three times. 

Scully thinks he expects her to be angry. She should be, for the sheer fact that it was completely out of line...but she understands. Katherine did mean it. She definitely hates her right now. She hates her for all the little reasons pre-teen girls do.

“She did mean it,” she states. “And she’ll say it again and she’ll mean it again.”

As she gets ready for bed, Scully longs to ask her mother how to handle these things, to finally hear how she really felt when she had it said to her by two uniquely difficult daughters. She wishes Melissa were here to get her back into the head space of the daughter’s perspective. 

The door creaks open around eleven. Glassy eyed and apologetic, Katherine Grace, her sweet, kind girl climbs into bed with them, and stays all night.

When they call her Kitten in front of her friends, she wants to die. 

It was fine when she was six. Eleven was pushing it. Fourteen is a death sentence, especially when her dad rolls down the window, and calls to her from the driver’s seat. She wishes they lived closer to school so she could take the bus. 

When Scott calls her Kitten in the middle of biology with everyone watching, Katherine wants nothing more than to be a dissection frog or to explode in a puff of experimental smoke.

They doze on the couch on a Saturday night. As people their age do.

With the way things are, Mulder finds he doesn’t mind being old. 

The car pulls up outside. Katherine has been gunning for a car of her own, consistent in her discontent with driving around in his decade old SUV. Her keys jingle in the lock and her shoes hit the floor with a gentle thud when she kicks them off. 

She flops down on the couch and lifts her mother’s arm to side up to her. The affection is welcome from their teenager. 

Eyes still closed, he asks, “Where you been, Katie Kat?”

He can probably guess. With that boy they’re not the biggest fans of. Or at that party they heard her talking about while she thought they weren’t listening from the hallway. Parenting a seventeen year old is harder than a toddler. 

"Doesn’t matter,” she mumbles. 

Mulder is almost sure it does matter.

Summer in the middle of nowhere. Her level of enthusiasm for home is much lower than her last visit in December. 

Life falls back into its usual routine. Mulder can see why that would be an issue for Katherine. Her recently developed independence thwarted by parents. 

They pass on the stairs. She carries a cup of coffee, she never liked coffee before this year, and plate of toast. “Father,” she greets.

“Daughter,” he replies.

The smirk on her face is all Scully. He’s reminded of how much his wife has given to him. This truly perfect thing. Still destiny. And definitely still a miracle. 

She continues up while he heads down. “Kate,” he says, turning. She does the same. “I’m proud of you, kid.” 

“Thanks, Dad.”
