debunking pro-snape/anti-james arguments and putting it on the internet because clearly i hate myself. buckle up. this is gonna be a VERY long post. im ready for the amount of hate i will get; im willing to take one for the team.

1. james forced lily into dating/marrying/etc him

this literally never happened? because its almost as if lily is her own person who is able to stand up for herself-

“I wouldn’t go out with you if it was a choice between you and the giant squid,” said Lily.

“LEAVE HIM ALONE!” Lily shouted. She had her own wand out now. James and Sirius eyed it warily.

She turned on her heel and hurried away [from james].

-and so she would not allow someone to walk all over her. its almost as if james (canonically) matured as a person, and she appreciated this, realised he was a good person and got feelings for him? because james’ only negative traits were that he was conceited and a show off. people are able to mature and grow from these things! james did this! he did not ‘force’ lily to go out with him!

2. james and the other marauders bullied snape

you know what, i cant even disagree with this one. you’re right - they did bully him. but lets look a little bit at the context.

sirius and james were both upper class, naive white rich boys. they are idiots. they were both stupid smart teenagers!! they were popular! and while this does not excuse the gross bullying snape was subject to-

Several people watching laughed; Snape was clearly unpopular ... Snape was trying to get up, but the jinx was still operating on him; he was struggling, as though bound by invisible ropes.

-it (unfortunately) makes sense with context. james and sirius also stopped bullying people, and even expressed discomfort/regret with the way they acted-

“I’m not proud of it,” said Sirius quickly.

“Of course he was a bit of an idiot!” said Sirius bracingly, “we were all idiots!

[sirius talking to remus] you made us feel ashamed of ourselves sometimes

A lot of people are idiots at the age of fifteen. He grew out of it.

-when they were younger! i’d also like to point out these little lines i noticed when i was finding quotes for my argument which snape stans like to ignore:

James and Snape hated each other from the moment they set eyes on each other

I mean, he [snape] never lost an opportunity to curse James

there was a flash of light and a gash appeared on the side of James’s face, spattering his robes with blood

wow, look at that. the hate they felt for each other was mutual! snape also jinxed james! but oh wait - james was the one who matured! snape was the one who bullied his son twenty years later because he looked like james!

3. snape didnt abuse the kids at hogwarts

here’s a real argument i saw when looking through some pro-snape posts: ‘snape wasn’t an abuser, because abusers don’t let their victims retaliate, but snape did let the kids talk back to him’

what. the. fuck?!

this is the dictionary.com definition of abuse: ‘to treat in a harmful, injurious, or offensive way’ or ‘to speak insultingly, harshly, and unjustly to or about’. i’m pretty sure snape did both of these things-

“I don’t need help from filthy little Mudbloods like her!”

“So,” said Snape, gripping Harry’s arm so tightly Harry’s hand was starting to feel numb.

Snape threw Harry from him with all his might.

[hermione’s teeth] "I see no difference."

‘Idiot boy!’ snarled Snape [at neville]

-on multiple occasions. i’d also like to remind you guys that neville’s worst fear is SNAPE?! his TEACHER, a figure that is supposed to be there for emotional and educational support is his worst fear in this entire world?! above the woman who drove his parents to insanity? over failure, over his abusive grandmother, over everything? his teacher? and for the pro-snaper that used this quote-

Nearly everyone laughed. Even Neville grinned apologetically.

-to claim that it was a joke, it isn’t a joke. because when snape came out of that cupboard, he was terrified. yes, it’s an embarrassing thing to have as your boggart, but the point is is that it is. he is terrified of that man.

4. james only joined the order because his wife was a muggleborn and he ‘had to’

this is just factually incorrect. james had been sticking up for muggleborn rights since he was in school, far before he started dating or even became friends with lily:

“Apologize to Evans!” James roared at Snape, his wand pointed threateningly at him.

“I’d NEVER call you a - you-know-what!”

so this is literally not true!! plus, at least he did join the order, whatever his reasons where (which were canonically good). snape didnt join the order. snape was friends with someone who suffered discrimination in society, and instead of using his privilege to help her and support her, he joined a group that was set on murdering people like her. when james had a friend who underwent oppression (remus/lycanthropy) you know what he did? he illegally became an animagus.

5. snape had to be a death eater to survive at hogwarts as he roomed with blood supremacists

this is the shittiest excuse i have ever seen in my entire life. as a poc, this comment really reminds me of the argument ‘i was raised in a racist white household! i cant control my beliefs!’

you can always control your beliefs. i understand not going on big rants about blood inequality in front of a bunch of supremacists, and i understand wanting to blend and fit in (especially because he was unpopular and needed the support the slytherin boys provided), but i will never understand then becoming an active member of the group yourself. he got the dark mark. he helped voldemort. he was a death eater, and a proud one at that! no-one forced him to join. this argument literally makes my blood boil.

6. snape had a lot of trauma from being raised in an abusive household

okay? so did sirius. so did neville. luna was bullied at school, just like snape. harry lived in an abusive household. did any of those people bully children? did any of those people join a blood supremacist group? and dont get me wrong, im not calling any of these people perfect - they all had a lot of flaws - but none of them hurt another people to the extreme that snape did.

7. snape saved the trio’s lives many times

this is the absolute bare minimum. ‘oh wow, he didnt let harry die!! what a king! he should be respected and praised! we should excuse all of his other actions because he didnt let people die <3′

8. snape is not a perfect person, he also did good that many people overlook

you’re right, snape did do some good things in his life. but unfortunately, for me and many others, doing a couple of good things doesnt excuse all of the shitty, abusive things he did too. we’re not ignoring them - we just dont think they’re good enough reasons to forgive him.

‘but james and sirius hurt others! you ignore all the bad things they did in favour of the good!’ you do the same thing with snape, first of all. second, they did a lot of good stuff. james’ and sirius’ only crimes were being annoying. for being a bit of a dick, conceited, knew they were hot and were a bit entitled. while these things are annoying as fuck, they were also stupid teens that eventually grew out of their behaviour and became better people. not perfect! better. while snape just stayed bitter at the marauders, long after their deaths, and even took his anger out on an innocent child.

9. people only hate snape because he was poc and queer coded

as a poc and queer person, please stop. this is a very bad excuse. being poc and queer (which im pretty sure he isnt, but anyway) doesnt excuse you from your actions. plus, a huge amount of harry potter readers are poc and lgbtq. why would they hate snape for those reasons?!

so thats all i got for today. im not gonna go into a deep snily/jily thing because i literally cannot be bothered. anyway im done. i need to go revise, i’ve already spent long enough on this.

being naturally curious about a lot of things, seonghwa would probably be more than happy to listen to you 'rehearse' your classes the next day at the dinner table, and if he has the energy to comprehend the content he might even ask questions so that you can kind of practice answering your students.

and before he even visits your school, he will make sure to ask you how many teachers there are in your department so that he can buy some snacks and drinks for everyone knowing just how exhausting teaching can be, hehe model boyfriend, 11/10 will make your colleagues jealousssssss

Hongjoong

you can count on hongjoong to help make your classes more interesting to keep the students attentive, like he would tell you what he wished his teachers did so that he would have liked school more and stayed in it longer but well JSJSJEJ

he would probably be very awkward while walking around your school waiting for you to end your class, like the only memories he had was when he was really young so, yea the school would probably feel pretty strange to him since he spent so much time in the studio since he was like what....15/16(?)

he would be really amazed honestly, like he would always think of how much nonsense and bullshit teachers have to deal with and he would shudder so he really respects you for choosing this career and having the passion to educate children no matter how tiring it can be,, would always ask if you need any help unwinding for the weekend or something

he probably isn't supposed to but he would tell the security guard that he's just going to wait at the library or something but he ends up crashing your classes,, just suddenly appearing at the back of the room and surprising you. your students always asks you when he's going to come again as if you would know lmao

he likes hearing the tea, all the drama between your students or like from entitled parents or just the stupidest most chaotic things that the students in your school do jdjeje and like seriously,, schools really do have the juiciest gossip and stuff

the type to just hang out at your desk in the staff room and make friends with your colleagues, secretly judging the ones that you told him shit about. ok im making him some so mean and like drama hungry but he's really not, ok, he just finds it really interesting but he won't let anything loose.

San

like Yunho, he would really admire you because in his eyes, teachers are seriously one of the most selfless people on earth because they really do more than just teaching and he himself have received so much guidance and help outside of academics from his teacher and ya so uk,, he would really love a s/o who is a teacher.

you would just see him talking to students eating alone in the cafeteria, playing football/basketball with students and even helping your colleagues with carrying the books and all while waiting for you to end class. you know how there's always that one teacher who brings their kids to school and everyone loves them, yea that's San, but instead of a kid he's a grown ass man, of course (you've also heard he plays video games with some of your students????)

Mingi

he loves an intellectual, but you know what he loves even more, an intellectual who's willing to share and give that knowledge back to society. and mingi likes to learn, so hell yea he would definitely sit beside you while you plan out your classes so he can kinda pick up whatever you are teaching at school. he would probably like to read it up on his own and ask you about it

he would just go straight to your classroom but instead of going in he would just kinda loiter outside because he's shy lmao, it's a little creepy for the students if you think about it but he would peek through the windows and just admire you as you do your thing jsjsjs

Wooyoung

he was in no way a bad student but he was definitely loud, like you can't tell me he's quiet in the classroom. so naturally, he would ask you about your students, like who are the quiet ones and who are the loud ones, the class clowns etc. like yeosang, he's probably more interested in knowing about the people in school than what you teach (no offence)

and when he comes visit you in school, like Yunho, he would crash your class and try to match faces to names and be like "ohhhhh so you are the really smart one", "ohhh you are the one with the bad handwriting" 💀 or "you better hand up your work on time, I swear to god"....your students are just like 😳😳😳😳😳 "ok"

Jongho

constantly stocks up your desk with markers, marker refills, whiteboard duster, blank papers, stickers, stamps, you get it...whatever you need for your classes, he will make sure that you never run out and never have to worry about making last minute runs to the store to get them. will also text you reminders to eat well, sleep early and to not drink so much coffee

he may be quite shy but when he goes to visit you at school, I see him interacting with your students a lot, like he would ask how they find your lessons, or how they were coping with studies and stuff, would even play with them during breaks and tell them the dad jokes jdjsjs,, your students might like him more than they like you oops

💘 Tyrion Date HC

Once Tyrion really starts liking you, he takes you to the loveliest places. We’re talking walks through gardens with little ponds and animals, a covered boat ride on a river, or walking through an exciting market full of Essosi traders. The thing is, he’d never call this “courting”. That makes it too official, too serious. He plays it off as simple visits two friends would make.

He’s excellent at finding out the things you’re interested in. You aren’t aware of it, but Tyrion really pays attention to what you respond to and what you like the most. I mean, he’s already watching you because he loves you, but if you aren’t vibing with an activity and location he’ll take that into consideration for next time.

He has lots of fun experiencing new things with you, period - after you’re together, after you’re married. If he finds out about something new, he’ll tell you so you both can do it together.

Tyrion prefers more private locations, since the court is exhausting and nearly all people he meets don’t like him anyway... but there’s something exciting about having such a pretty girl on his arm, someone who clearly adores him and wants to spend time with him.

Gifts! You tell him he doesn’t have to, but he likes presenting you with little things at the beginning or end of a date. First it’s practical things, so he can brush it off as “You seemed like you could use that”, before it’s just outright pretty jewels and dresses and he has no excuse. At that point it’s because he clearly loves you.

When it’s your name day, he has such a great evening planned out. If you’re married, make that a weekend or a week to travel and enjoy a little mini-vacation. Tyrion is excellent at planning an event in secret, so you have no idea what he has in store until the morning of your birthday.

In a modern AU, he’s not too different - he wants to explore new places and new things. He’d probably live in a city and would always find the strangest hole in the wall places to eat and shop at. If you like books, or records, or clothes, he’s gonna find something really out of the way and specific.

💖Tyrion Pregnancy HC

From the time you announced your pregnancy to the entire 9 months, it was like the worst emotional whiplash he’s ever had. There are SO many thoughts going through his head. Some of them are:

One, he’s delighted you want to have a family with him. Yes, you two are married, but it’s not out of duty to the Lannisters. It’s the ultimate proof you love him, he decides - because there’s a real chance your child could turn out like him, and you don’t care. And he knows you’ll love the child if that happens. He just knows you’ll be a wonderful mother. Second, you clearly express your joy to his family and the courtiers. You’re proud and you don’t care who knows. Third, he thinks about how horrid his own upbringing was, and he’s absolutely 100% determined to be an excellent father. Fourth ...

You get the point. He’s so torn between worry - what if the child is born with a problem, what if you die in childbed, what if he turns out to be a terrible father - and absolute, unbelievable devotion. You thought he was protective and doting before? Nothing is too good for you. You have to tell Tyrion to dial it back a bit, you don’t need new clothes every month and ten sets of silken bedsheets and all this jewelry....

He’s a bundle of nerves the closer the due date is. You two might actually get into spats because you’re exhausted and achey, and he’s just a mess. Jaime actually has to knock sense into him and get him to calm down.

But once your child is born... it all washes away, like a wave carrying him. He’s so happy. He can’t even function. He wants the hold the child all the time, he wants to see them, talk to them - and he asks so many questions to you and the maester. When will the child talk? When will they walk? Can they understand him? Do they know he’s their father? And so on.

Also, his protectiveness would go through the roof. He would never forbid you from going anywhere or doing anything, but.. he would be obviously nervous if you mentioned you were going travelling or something.

And it goes without saying he’s keeping extra tabs on Cersei, certain courtiers, maybe his own father. He doesn’t trust any of them for anything.

Bronn will probably get assigned to bodyguard duty for you. He’s clearly not pleased, and you just sigh and dismiss him for the day so you don’t have to listen to his smart mouth.

He likes to feel your stomach, especially when the babe kicks! It relieves his worries that the child might be born “wrong” somehow. The fact they’re kicking, wiggling and moving, seemingly in response to him, makes him feel much better.

💐 Tyrion Family & Kids HC

He’s an excellent father, even though he has his moments of emotional hang-ups. He wants to ensure his child is educated, empathetic and uses their damn head. While he’d be doting and affection, he wouldn’t be a total pushover and can reasonably discipline them. Tyrion is great at talking to children respectfully and treating them like people.

On that note, he has no patience for someone like Cersei or his father trying to butt in on his parenting. He’ll stand up to them and firmly insist he can raise his child on his own, thank you. He won’t take any “advice” or threats from them.

He’d be quite good at figuring out what his children are talented in, and encouraging them. He’s seen what it’s like when a child is forced into a single box and hinge all their worth on that (Jaime) and when they’re looked over and ignored (him and Cersei).

Yes, he basically decides to do the opposite of whatever his father did.

There would be times when he’d want to educate his children himself, but only on certain subjects - reading and writing, for example. He trusts the maester just fine, he just wants to have that bonding opportunity with them.

(He’s so proud of all of them no matter what though 😭)

If you’d be up for it, Tyrion would like several children. He’s not 100% on how many, since he’s never really given himself a chance to hope and daydream for a family. He knows he needs a son for the Lannister line to continue, but he’d never force you to continue risking your health for that. Ultimately, however many you want, that’s what he’ll be happy with. If it’s all girls, he’ll love them the same.

💘 Jaime Date HC

It’s actually amusing how bad he is at taking you somewhere interesting. It ends up being an accident - you run into him in a beautiful garden or some obscure part of the Red Keep, and he offers to show you something interesting he found. From there, you two get lost and take a while to find your way back.

... Or you take him somewhere you thought was interesting, and he goes along with it. When you point out that Jaime is pretty bad at this “courting” business, he just scoffs and says that’s definitely not what he’s doing. He’s just visiting with ... a friend ... .... just a friend. Yup.

Another aspect is the fact he’s a Whitecloak, and he might be having to avoid Cersei. That kind of makes things dicey.

However, when he returns from the Dreadfort and that absolute hell of a journey, he’s doesn’t care so much who sees you two. He wants to get away from the Red Keep, even if that’s his duty, so he starts wandering out with you. When Jaime is patrolling on his own and sees a place of interest, he makes a mental note to bring it up to you later. And when he does, and you offer to go with him ... Well, he won’t complain.

Since you two have been so many places, he starts to associate them with you. When he’ll pass by it on his own, he thinks about something you laughed at, or something you told him there. If you ever touched his hand or his face while you two visited a garden, he will remember that touch every single time he passes by.

After you’ve known each other for a while, and he’s feeling sentimental, he’ll ask, “Do you remember those docks a mile away from the Red Keep? There was a man pushing a cart that had these colorful glasses and wares. You were wearing a blue dress, and when you dirtied it, I carried you around down the street?”

You have no idea where he’s talking about, but that’s the sort of road his memory lane is.

In the modern AU, he’s still pretty terrible at dates. He’s more of the type who wants to wander around with you and just pop into a place that seems interesting - and then he’ll associate you with it. Anytime he sees that cafe chain again, even in a different city, he remembers the hot cocoa you ordered and the little marshmallow mustache you gave yourself.

And honestly, he prefers to stay home with you, cuddling and watching something. He can be as bad as a needy cat when he wants cuddles and attention; you aren’t escaping anytime soon.

💖Jaime Pregnancy HC

Oh no.

Back when Jaime was a boy and lectured endlessly on the duties of a Lannister heir, he didn’t truly understand what that meant. Especially after Cersei coerced him into taking the white cloak, he figured he’d never have children of his own.

... Well. Then there was three. but they never felt like his, which was Cersei’s intention. It was so strange, even if they looked like him, he couldn’t connect Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommen to himself.

Also, look who his father is. That’s a lot to unpack.

It’s not until he’s completely left Cersei and lost his sword hand that he starts thinking and seeing things differently. It feels different when you play with the children, when you look longingly at mothers, when he’s intimate with you and you let him finish inside. He starts thinking what it’s like, and that’s scary, considering it never crossed his mind before.

And then he thinks about how his mother died, and what it did to his father. He never openly discusses it with you, but he has nightmares about it. Jaime doesn’t sleep well for a lot of your pregnancy, especially toward the last few months. He does a little better with each child. To distract himself, he takes care of you.

He likes the idea of having two children, a boy and girl, or two boys, but he’s fine with one or more than two. Anything more than four would probably overwhelm him.

Gods save the person who threatens you, even if it’s his sister. His protective instincts go into overdrive, to the point where someone being disrespectful to you on the street will make him want to fight.

💐 Jaime Family & Kids HC

When you tell him, honestly... his first thought is what an awful parent he’d be. He had one example for what a father is like, and he was hardly an influential part in the lives of the three children he sired. You’d have to reassure Jaime and give him confidence, because he has none where this is concerned. He’s positive he’ll screw it up somehow, he’ll be too distant, or too cruel. How do you even hold a baby? What do you say to little ones? He’s going to take care of you, there’s no question of that, but his nervousness is palpable.

Still, he has such a cute smile when he holds his child - what he considers his first real one - and he right away sees you in them. Their nose, and smile, and eyes. It’s amazing, he decides.

Jaime is a terribly indulgent father. He tries to scold where he can, but more often than not he’s amused by his kid being mischievous. When they pull pranks on guests or get into fights with other kids, he’ll let them off easy if he felt like it was justified. If you’re the more disciplinary parent, the kids totally learn to go to Jaime when they want something.

He’s not overly physically affectionate, but he often ruffles their hair (even if they’re a girl with hair you just braided), gives them rides on his shoulders and lets them sit on his lap and fall asleep. He also has a habit of patting their cheeks or shoulders when he’s pleased.

Jaime didn’t think he’d be excited to teach swordplay and horseback, but he’s so happy when one of his kiddos is interested in both or either. Even if they’re a girl, he can’t help but teach her everything he knows. It also makes him feel better that he has something to teach and pass on even if he lost his sword hand.

Also ... he’s a terrifying papa lion. Do not ever even slightly threaten his children or wife in front of him. His temper and pride will flare and he’ll start a fight right there.

Related to that, he can fight off Cersei’s cruelty and coldness to you and your children together because he knows how to deal with her. If Tywin disapproved of you in some way, or was trying to take control of how the children were reared, Jaime would genuinely struggle to stand up to him. He doesn’t want his kids to go through the childhood he had, but it’s difficult for him. He won’t go into full “fuck this” mode unless the children are seriously threatened.

let’s talk racial micro aggressions, because i’ve been seeing a lot of them being used online toward people speaking out about racism and even in fandoms unfortunately, so i think it’s time we have a talk. this is gonna be a semi long one, so buckle up.

just for reference, im asian american. because of that i’ve gone my entire life experiencing racism and discrimination simple because im not white. of course, i have definitely had it better than a lot of people, but that doesn’t take away from my experiences at all. i grew up hating the way i looked, trying to fix myself because i genuinely thought something was wrong with me. this led to years and years of insecurity and self hatred. something i had to go through alone, because my family was white and i was too afraid to tell them how i felt. i was afraid they wouldn’t understand. it’s still something i struggle with, though it’s gotten better.

growing up, as stated before, i was around white people. growing up in a very white town, i unfortunately wasn’t formally educated on racism or what micro aggressions were, i just knew that certain comments made me uneasy and uncomfortable, and hurt my feelings. it wasn’t until i was older, when i started using social media that i really came to understand what all of this was.

a lot of you who have white privilege are using it to uplift bipoc voices, and i think that’s great. however it’s also important to acknowledge that many people who are actively anti racist still have implicit biases, which can lead to microaggressions.

first of all, what are microaggressions? you may or may not be familiar with the term. if you’re not, that’s okay! you can use this post to educate yourself and make sure you don’t make these mistakes in the future. microaggressions are defined as brief and commonplace daily verbal, behavioural, or environmental indignities, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative prejudicial slights and insults toward any group, particularly culturally marginalized groups.

basically, intentional or unintentional derogatory and prejudice behaviors directed towards marginalized groups.

these are very harmful to marginalized groups, mostly because they’re not as blatant as outright racism, misogyny, homophobia, etc. this makes it often hard to detect, and you may have found yourself using micro aggressions at some point in your life. that’s not important though, what’s important is that, if you have used them in the past, you understand what you said or did was wrong, and that you learn from it.

now, what are specific racial micro aggressions? i’ve compiled a list of them under the cut, and explained why these are insulting and harmful to poc.

“where are you really from” – this insinuates that we will always be seen as foreigners, and not citizens to our own country. it brings on a feeling of not being good enough and that we will not be accepted.

“not everything’s about race” – if you’re white stop telling bipoc how to feel about race. we are tired of it. please don’t speak over us when we are expressing our discomfort. if poc people are telling you something is racist, it’s racist. stop trying to argue with us, as you are not the ones being affected by it.

“your food is so weird” – it’s only weird to you because it hasn’t been westernized or americanized. insisting that foreign foods are weird or gross because you aren’t used to it, is hurtful. it’s insulting.

“all asians look the same” – by saying this, you’re taking away our individuality. asia is a huge continent, not all of us follow the same traditions and not all of us look the same. it’s not a funny joke, and it never has been.

“you’re pretty for a *insert any race here*” – this is just such a backhanded compliment. it implies that we are not typically or conventionally pretty. it has the same negative connotations as saying “you’re really good...for a girl”. that’s misogynistic for the same reasons saying this is racist.

“i don’t see color” – again, you’re basically erasing our individuality and culture and telling us we shouldn’t embrace it. many pocs even completely distance themselves from their cultures to seek white validation, which is in every sense of the word, upsetting. people want to fit in so bad that they’re willing to leave behind their entire culture. something that sucks about being adopted at such a young age from a white family, is that i have never had a connection with my culture. i know nothing about it, and that hurts. i rationalized in my head that the reason i didn’t learn about it sooner was because i was happy, but that was a lie i told myself for years. the sad thing is, is that because i wasn’t connected to my culture at all, i fit in better and had an easier time making friends then other pocs in my school.

assuming all asian people are smart or good at math – stop. it’s not funny. never has been. the stereotype that all asians are smart is not a compliment, and puts a lot of pressure on us as individuals. it objectifies us, assuming we are more like machines and not actual people. long story short, it’s dehumanizing.

“im not/cant be racist i have black friends” – contrary to popular belief, yes you can be. you can still have a racial bias while being friends with bipoc people. being associated with poc people doesn’t suddenly mean you’re not racist. you may even make racist jokes and think it’s okay because they don’t tell you to stop. just because they are seemingly unbothered does not mean it’s not still racist. a lot of times we are uncomfortable in situations like that, but are too afraid to speak up in fear of our feelings being invalidated or being told to lighten up because it’s just a joke. saying we’re too sensitive when it comes to making mockeries of our races and cultures, is also a micro aggression.

saying “you people” or “y’all” when talking, usually negatively, about a person of a specific race – you’re generalizing an entire group because of one bad experience which is just contributing to the stereotypes and racism we face daily. one or a few bad interactions with a person of a different race does not speak for an entire population.

clutching your bag tight when a poc person, usually black or latinx, stands next to you or following them in the store – the way i still have to explain this one in 2020. they are not criminals, but by doing this, you’re contributing to the stereotype that they are all criminals and thugs, which simply isn’t true. this stereotype is very damaging and harmful, as it also contributes to the systematic oppression of those people.

assuming someone only got a certain job or position because they’re bipoc – this insinuates that we did not work hard to get where we are, and that we did not deserve what we got. we simply got it because we aren’t white. affirmative action comes up a lot in this conversation. all affirmative action does is help decide between equally qualified people by favoring the ones who suffer from discrimination in society, but it does not reserve spots for them.

assuming someone knows how to speak mandarin because they’re asian – asia is a large continent with A LOT of languages and cultures. not everyone is chinese. not everyone speaks the same language. it’s insulting and adds to the already hurtful stereotype that all asians look the same.

“you speak english really well” or “how did you learn to speak english so well” – it’s called practicing because people have been making fun of those with accents for years, simply because they are not used to it. being surprised when a poc speaks english well implies that you may think because they’re not white, they are less educated. we’ve simply assimilated because our cultures are constantly rejected and mocked by white people and even other pocs. this also contributes to the notion that westerners are more “civilized” or that they are better, because they(generally speaking this obviously doesn’t apply to everyone)make no effort to learn our cultures, but we have to learn theirs in order to be seen as “acceptable”.

“but *insert race* are racist too” or pointing out immoral things other countries do when people of that race speak up about racism - you’re redirecting the conversation to avoid responsibility. you don’t actually care about those issues, you just want to invalidate our struggles by pointing out that a place many of us have not been to in a long time, or ever, is very flawed. we have no say in what that government chooses to do. not all places are a democracy, and many democracies around the world are flawed.

something important to remember is that anyone can be guilty of implicit bias and micro aggressions. this is not selective to one race.

unfortunately they and other racial stereotypes are very prevalent in american media, which has normalized it in our society. this post is solely meant to educate if you weren’t previously aware of the dangers micro aggressions have on minorities. i started the list because i was tired of seeing so much normalized racism online, but i hope you learned something useful with this. if you stuck around this long, thank you for listening. i appreciate it a lot.

a lot of people have been doing this so i decided why not right. probably gna lose some followers or smth but anyways. pls respect my opinions! if u disagree, thats fine, but please be polite. unless any of my opinions strikes u as morally wrong then pls point it out to me respectfully. thanks!

- i actually liked drew. im so sorry to everyone who hates her but full offence, why. think about it this way ok, first of all drew became hc because silena died. silena was the traitor, the one who betrayed chb, yet after she died campers celebrated her as a hero? and then drew suddenly has to replace her and live up to idk that legacy she left behind,, when all of a sudden this girl named piper swoops in and takes her place. idk abt u but i wld be salty abt that too. not only that, but as an asian, the chances of drew having faced racism/bullying as a child is pretty high (she studies at brooklyn academy). which means that when she finds out shes a demigod, and arrives at chb where most of the campers are white (this is an assumption btw), she’d obviously be scared of being bullied for her skin color right?? so the first thing she wld do before the campers get to bully her is to bully them before they can do so. - travis and connor stoll r way too underrated. the two have been head counselors of the hermes cabin since luke was revealed as a traitor, can u imagine the stress? luke, the person they probably looked up to as a brother, betrayed them. and they didnt even have time to process this when they were thrown the roles of being hcs. that would have been so stressful and i would probably have broken down if i were them. the stoll brothers taking turns to wake up at ungodly hours because a new camper is crying and homesick and terrified, the stoll brothers having to comfort and take care of new campers, having to deal with the amount of people in that cramped space because not enough campers are being claimed fast enough. having to resolve issues between campers in the hermes cabin all the time. the stolls arent just comedic relief, and we need to stop treating them as such

- hazel and frank (especially frank) need to be hyped up more. i hardly ever see anything about them. also yall seem to forget that frank was literally made praetor and that even hecate admired hazel and was willing to fight beside her because of how powerful she was

- frazels age gap is kinda sketch but i still think theyre really cute

- annabeth isnt smarter than leo but neither is leo smarter than annabeth. ive seen a lot of discussions about who is smarter and heres my hot take on it: neither. theyre equally smart, just in different ways. leos a genius mathematically speaking. he has no issues solving math problems meant for people much, much older than him. annabeth on the otherhand, is great at strategies etc. she can make an army of 1000 more powerful than the enemy, even if theyre outnumbered. so in my opinion, both are equally as smart//u cant compare their intelligence, because their talents lie in two different areas.

- while i do agree rick riordan isnt a god and that hes bound to make mistakes,, AND that hes given us a lot of representation,, if the representation offends the people its sposed to represent, then theres a problem. im talking about piper as a poc and wearing feathers in her hair. im not a poc, so i cant speak for them on whether or not its wrong, because i dont know either. HOWEVER, i have seen multiple posts BY pocs talking about how they didnt really like rick’s representation of piper, and thats an issue. pocs have been and are still oppressed and discriminated against by many. as a white cis man, we cant really blame him for not knowing (tho he could have done a research,, asked some pocs,, idk), but by representing pocs in that manner, hes influencing impressionable kids/teens into thinking “oh pocs wear feathers in their hair all the time” etc, which isnt true. the pjo/hoo series is extremely successful, and kids who read the books will probably start forming inaccurate opinions on pocs. the amount of fan art that depicts piper with feathers in her hair dont help either. “but rick said so in the books, so its canon” yeah well rick isnt a god and he can get some things wrong at times. im not saying we should cancel him, im saying we should start educating ourselves and not spread false info like pocs wearing feathers in their hair all the time. also that snake song shit where she sang Summertime was just- yeah. bc heres the thing you can be racist, and still include minorities, but portray them in a racist way. And even then, ignorance isn't a thing to admire. Getting those facts wrong still has a major impact. It continues to perpetuate racist stereotypes.

- the fact that most of the strong female characters in the series refuse to be “girly”, and ngl i dont really like that. just because ure girly doesnt mean u cant be strong.

- piper would have been a great way for him to start making the strong characters act girlier, but instead he went with the “I’m not like other girls” trope which is quite obnoxious to hear constantly, and I don’t think it’s necessarily great for younger girls to read that idea growing up. the closest we've ever had to a strong female character who was also into "girly" things was Silena. when I was younger I admired Piper's "I'm not like other girls" thing, but then I got older and realized that the whole mentality of "not like other girls" is super obnoxious, and a little bit toxic

I have talked quite a lot about my thoughts regarding the future of HT (and Tianshan). Here are two previous posts that I feel like could be useful for your questions, especially:

However, your question had an interesting character development angle that I don’t think I have pondered before as such. And I feel like the recent chapter had some curious crumbs that also got me thinking about this whole thing again. So, at the risk of repeating myself, I am once again diving into this.

A quick note before getting further, though. The translations of any chapters that come after 341 used in this post are done by @1154lizz Please, go support our fandom’s precious lifelines!

This has actually been one of the things that the new chapter got me to reconsider. I have heard the theory of HT potentially working for his family in the future, and I have always thought it very likely based on the Christmas specials.

I still think he might end up in the family business, but after the newest chapter, my focus somewhat shifted (ch. 348):

In the Christmas specials, the boys are at college age. ZZX is going to a university while JY is catching up on his high school education. MGS seems to be working, but the pile of books hints that he might be studying something, too.

Considering the He family a bit more, I actually think HT might be going to a university in the Christmas specials. Despite their presumably criminal line of work/involvement, I think the He family puts importance on intelligence and prestige. HT always scores top of his class. He is viewed and treated like an apple of the eye by the teachers, their prized pupil. I also think that if HT is to inherit the position of his family, he is expected to be smart and educated. Not to mention, prestige always means a lot of money which attracts powerful people to rub shoulders.

So, HT having a university degree (in business, perhaps) would make sense in my head. And if Mr. He is located abroad, HT is probably going to a foreign university as well. Of course, that doesn't mean he can’t be already somewhat involved in the family business by then, but I would say it’s entirely possible he’s still being groomed.

But this was just a side note. Whether he is already working for his father or otherwise getting close to that doesn’t really change things that much regarding your question.

This is actually something I haven't really thought about before. At least, not in so many words. I was talking about HT’s future with a friend of mine, and she said that she wishes HT won’t “give up on himself” in the sense that he stops rebelling against this father/family. Especially after everything he’s been through with MGS trying to make him fight for his own future and not submit. What would be the point of him telling MGS to be his own person if HT himself then joins the dark side even if it’s against his will?

Before I get to my thoughts regarding all that, I think it’s important to remember that the future is very much a question mark to us still. Even though the fact that HT seems to be staying abroad (among other things) gives us a base to make certain guesses, we still don't know for sure what he is up to in the future-related chapters. It’s good to keep that in mind when pondering the overall character development.

But I do take my friend’s and your points, dear anon. I could see why it would be disappointing if HT basically undid the progress of working on himself and went against his own principles. I could understand why it would be sad to see his fight have been for naught in the end.

But...as much as I do see where you’re coming from, I still kind of prefer the idea of HT getting involved with the family business one way or another in the future. Instead of disappointing, I would find it realistic and more interesting. HT having to compromise on his rather idealistic principles but still having them represented in MGS would have the kind of angsty layers that personally appeal to me. Both the good and bad being present in HT’s characters in a realistic way - imagine the complexity of that! The bitter-sweetness of “don’t become what I became”. Also, HT trying to keep the world of his family and whatever he has with MGS in the future separate would definitely be my kind of mafia ship aesthetic.

As far as potential reasons why HT might join his family business in the future, I think there are some possible reasons that have been hinted at in the current timeline already. I have talked about these before in the previous answers I linked above, so I won’t go as deep into this topic.

First of all, I think the He family has the kind of resources and influence that could help HT protect his friends and people who are dear to him (ch. 244, 245, 267):

HT’s character seems to have this contradiction that he despises his family’s behavior and way of dealing with things, but he will take advantage of that manpower and influence when it suits him. Granted, he does use them to protect his friends and I’m sure relying on them is less than ideal in his mind, but it still goes against him “being his own person”. In the end, resources matter and even HT can’t ignore that which makes his situation realistic.

Ultimately I think HT using his family could lead to him owing to them and basically being made to submit to his family’s will that way. In fact, I would say it has already happened a couple of times. At the back of one of those incidents, HT had to agree to go see his father. I don’t see why that arrangement couldn’t escalate further in the future as the steaks go higher. I think it very likely that in the future he will keep sacrificing his own ideals and principles to protect the good people who don't deserve to be oppressed by people like Mr. He.

Secondly, despite everything, this is still HT’s family we’re talking about, and I think he is more hung up on them than he would like to admit (ch. 229, 251, 252, 292):

I think the topic of family is very difficult for HT and he has a love-hate relationship with them. It’s painful to be disappointed and let down by the people you love as instinctively as one loves their family. HT has clearly been put through a lot of pain and trauma by the dangerous and ruthless life his family has chosen to lead.

But I don’t think even that has made HT completely given up on them. Perhaps not even when it comes to his father. I’m not sure if he is naive enough to expect them to change their lifestyle, but on some level, he might be waiting for something. When it comes to our families, the human mind works in mysterious ways. It’s easy to stay in a toxic environment and wait for something to change. And really, there are only two things that can change in those situations: them or us. Either they change themselves for better or worse or we make a decision whether we stay or leave for ourselves. I would say HT’s situation belongs in that last category where he is at this mental crossroad of trying to be separate from his family but also not being able to quite see it through.

Which brings me to another detail that got me thinking in the latest chapter. The issue of HC’s view on Mr. He that has been brought up before in the comic already (ch. 252, 348):

I think when it comes to their father and family in general, HC and HT are in very different kinds of mental positions. As the older son, HC has been subjected to the teachings and principles of their father for longer. I’m not sure if I would say he’s internalized them as such, but he has at least accepted them as a way to live his life. As an older brother, he has also naturally fallen into the role of responsibility a lot more than HT. He hasn’t had the position and freedom to rebel like HT has.

So, when HC tries to defend their father to HT, I think it’s wise to take his “background” into account. I’m not saying he’s lying when he believes their father does care about HT, but I think his disposition as the older brother makes him somewhat biased.

And yet...

And yet, I’m curious about how the new chapter brought this issue up again. Whenever HT accuses their father of just seeing his sons as pawns for his own gain, HC always seems genuinely taken aback by the outburst and how HT is talking about their father. The way HC said HT will “understand in the future” especially piqued my curiosity. Does HC know something about their father that HT doesn’t? Something that could - if not justify - then at least begin to explain his apparent ruthlessness? If that was explained to HT, would there be a chance that he would be less declined to join whatever his family is doing? I would even go as far as asking is HT waiting for a reason that would make thinking about his family less painful if there was something behind it all? Is it possible that HT had learned something like that by the time of the Christmas specials?

Now, that would be interesting.

Overall, I do get why it would feel like a setback in HT’s character development if he indeed ends up working for his family. But personally, I would be more interested in the complexity and realism of him being a part of both good (MGS and their relationship) and bad (the family business) at the same time. In my opinion, including the idea that life is much more complicated and grey-shaded than noble ideals would be really interesting to see.

quiet, studious, moody, distant. kept to himself most of the time, unless he was with ty. his mood always improved whenever ty was around, when they were together in the halls or in the same class. i always picture people wondering what ty did to get so close to him and then eventually chocking it up to the cousin bond lol. imagine girls asking ty to set them up with him. his fangirls lol. his favorite subjects were literature and history and his least were science and math (although less so), because he was bad at them. hence him paying stacy to do his bio, which was his worst subject. that's one of my favorite scott details: him cheating in school. i love that people (even ben) thought he was studious and good at all these subjects but he was actually just cheating (#justiceforstacy tbh) so that he wouldn't get in trouble or appear less smart than he actually is. and also because he had such big expectations on his shoulders and was constantly pitted against ryan. literally my favorite detail ever. it's such a him thing to do. i could see his dad not caring either. like, vincent would be more angry that he told ty he was paying someone to do his hw (and that ty could potentially blab about it) rather than the fact that he was cheating. he'd have the "idc how you get the grade, just get it" mentality imo.

i think he's neutral. he neither likes nor dislikes them. he definitely wouldn't be good with them, though. i think he'd only be a bit nicer and far quieter because he wouldn't know what to say. like a random child? he'd probably just ignore them LOL. and answer their questions very bluntly like he does with everyone. idk how he'd be as a father. ive tried to think about it. probably erring on traditional and uptight sometimes. i mean... obviously he's gonna think about like... not turning into his dad LMFAO. so that's. yeah. i think he'd try really, really hard to be better because of that. warmer and gentler and i think he'd get there, eventually. he'd enjoy doing things with them, like sporty things. and would be a great teacher :') he'd want to help them learn to read and write and play chess and yeah. im getting feelsy. he'd do a lot of research on parenting lol. all the parenting books before the twins are born hehe. yes, both, yes, and yes. it depends tho. whether he puts effort into remembering faces and names depends on whether he deems that person important or not.

biggest? ben dying. you hear that jammy? in general? car crashes, probably. his dad lol. and now that it's been pointed out to him: becoming like his dad. i don't think he was afraid of that before the events of the rp. i don't think he ever even saw himself like that. it really caught him off guard. it still catches him off guard. because he tries so hard to push down all the home life shit and not deal with it and just be his own person, separate from all that. he hates being labeled on top of it, and he hates his dad. so that's probably the worst thing someone could say to him. ANYWAY, when he's scared, he gets defensive/shuts down/goes cold. he just kinda shuts it out, pretends he's not scared, deals with it. he's fight in the fight or flight dichotomy though, because i think he used to fight against being scared more as a kid. but he just kinda learned to deal with it. so that comes back sometimes. like when he was scared ryan would say something, he got mean. but against people like his dad, he'd just shut down. be frustrated about it later, get mad when he's alone weeeheeee. ig it's a difference of whether he thinks he's in a position of power. if he is, then he gets mean and defensive. if he's not, he thinks it's better to just let the moment pass.

i don't think he'd care lol. if he thought it was a dumb fear, he'd be like "that's dumb" and move on. if he cares even a little, he'd try to fix it for them. like roma being scared to swim? he wanted to help her get over it. mostly because he thought it was dumb but also cuz he was getting along with her, so.

38. What do they admire in others? What talents do they wish they had?

i think he'd like every talent lol. he likes being good at things. he admires ben's ability to be happy all the time and show it, and how easily he can make friends. even if scott also thinks it's kinda... dumb. asdfjlaskdjf. like why pretend to like people if you don't? but he admires it all the same. he wishes he could paint like roma and ben because then they could share something, all three of them. :') when he likes her later, i think he'd admire roma's spunk and personality. how she's just herself. even if the way she talks and acts bothers him sometimes LOL. he thinks she's entertaining.

42. What are their goals? What would they sacrifice anything for? What is their secret ambition?

right now, to be independent and in control of everything. to not be told what to do. more concrete goals: to be a one again, to live in a nice house with nice things and not have to answer to anyone, lol for roma to not like him and to just be his match for image sake. he do want that loveless, fake marriage rn. sad. i do like that tho. i love that he wants them to just see other people and not be together. i think it's realistic. like people would want that if it was real life. it makes me fkn depressed tho because i hate thinking what it would be like if they'd actually gone with what he wanted. like... bro that's so fucking sad. bad perfection end where they only see each other in passing at "home" and during coffee mornings, which one or both of them have started to ditch as well. Im glad you liked it hehe! Jane is really fun to make hc/new characterizations for (I’m someone who likes to write myself, and characters are my fav part of most story telling). I think it’s mostly due to the fact that I feel her song can get a little misinterpreted at times (this is largely due to the fact that it’s a ballad and ballads can be very vague). I could go on a whole ramble about what I think the song is about the line/cut line from it but to keep it short- I see her song as her in denial and realizing/reminiscing on her relationship with Henry and seeing that it was emotional ab*sive (the whole song chorus is like she’s going to battle) but she stood firm and wanted to focus her true love on her child (regardless of gender). To me that and her part in “Six” gives me an idea of a Jane who was hurt and used before but just wants now to live her life to fullest, with true freedom in what she can say or think or do with no one stopping her . And she wants to do all this with the queens, her new family.

Mom!Jane is adorable, she’s a sweetheart but a Jane that’s a little more fiery, a little more chaotic, and much more teasing hits a little different. And well that changes her dynamic with everyone but I just wanted to focus on Anne cause I also think differently about her as well (like i think she’s smart as hell through the whole fake competition since she’s trying to get the audience to like her and she does a decent job at that... she’s pretty neat I think). I do think Katherine fits in well too, with Anne also acting like an older sibling but Kat and Jane (even tho Jane is older than Kat) being more in the same level with stuff. Kat’s not as chaotic as Jane but she’s more “eh why not I’m in” cause it just makes her happy to hang out with them.

Anger is such an exhausting emotion but something I learned once from a therapist of mine is that it’s sometimes an emotion that’s covers up what you’re really feeling. It’s easier to be angry at something then to be truly vulnerable, but when you recognize the underlying cause and have people who can support you through it, it can become easier to be vulnerable. That can definitely apply here, where Anne and Jane become much more vulnerable with eachother. Anne would then learn about all the shit Jane went through with her family and Henry (hearing that he threatened to have her beheaded like Anne during the pilgrimage of grace incident would make her both angry and bring out a protective instinct). She would be the one to comfort Jane on the idea that she didn’t go through much cause “You totally got screwed over too! We all did! Just cause it was different pain, doesn’t mean it’s not valid pain!”

Her reigning Jane is mostly her making sure Jane doesn’t go too far (Anne had to stop her from trying to bake stuff faster by upping the temperature too many times to count), but she can’t help but be happy at the fact that Jane feels comfortable enough to do stuff like that or joke around with the queens at all with no fear of extreme punishment (not that they would punish her, but like... trauma sucks).

(And yeah I definitely agree on the point on the illiteracy hc, as we only know so much in her education but it wouldn’t be a surprise that she might have been slightly illiterate given the time. I just also like the hc of her having dyslexia cause of the fics that cover it, specifically HMA64 I love their fics dearly)

And yes, i thought of it once and thought “god that’s adorable, i have to include this”. With every groan from the other queens lips at each of Jane’s puns, Anne gets more and more proud :D.

And im seriously happy you liked it (I mean I didn’t think I would start to hc stuff about a musical about the six wives of Henry the eighth but like ehh historical fiction is a thing and writing has always been about what ifs, so why not)! And well I’m sure if I think of something you might like again, I’ll share it :).

Oh my god I was replying to an ask, scrolled down slightly and did a double take, wondering how I’d missed this post- and THEN remembered getting it, reading it and being like ‘Oh I don;t have time to give this amazing as the attention to deserves so I’ll save it-’ and then I think life just got in the way and it slipped from my mind entirely- and anon I’m so sorry! I promise I wasn’t ignoiring it on purpose but I do feel like a very ungrateful wench after you went to such trouble to send such an interesting ask!

I agree that Jane gives the impression of recognising how awful Henry was in her song- idk if you’ve seen the tour cast but the Jane I saw did an amazing job of just coming across as someone who had been very wounded and who was only just giving herself permission to sort of slowly realise it wasn’t her fault and that she didn’t deserve it, like she was still in the habit of excusing him but was slowly relaising how wrong it was.

I can definitely imagine Kitty and Jane being on a similar sort of level, out of the cousins- they’re the two youngest, the two least well educated, both were sort of pushed into Henry’s bed (Jane just came out of it a lot better), both were meant to be sort of ‘dresh start’ queens: Jane was the good wife after the temptress Nan Bullen and Kitty was the pretty young girl married for love after the doomed arranged marriage of politics. So I like the idea of them getting on as friends and equals rather than just Mother and Child.

Omg imagine Jane finally having the courage to make a joke or tease another queen and like it’s really mild but she still flinches and freezes- so the others make sure to laugh and make it clear that they’re really thrilled she’s comfrotable enough to realx a bit (and then they unleash a monster because Jane discovers puns....)

“ you're just like everyone out there that you have resented, you judged me by other people’s words, i thought- i thought that i can finally found someone i could open up to but you never even gave me chance from the beginning”

you let him talk without interrupting him

you deserved the ache you were feeling in your heart

everything he said was true

and with that he breaks down, straight to the floor, back against the wall, hugging his knees

and all you could do was watch, until you couldn't take it anymore

you finally entered the recording booth , taking a seat on the floor right next to him, mimicking his broken figure

“im sorry”

silence

you looked up at the ceiling as you sighed

he deserves an explanation

“ yes, i took the deal, but that's because i thought i needed it changbin. I may be smart, but financially my family isn't doing well. my mom already works extra shifts but it still won't be enough. my dad isnt even in the picture, i dont know where the hell he is”

and with this, changbins head slowly perks up, looking at you with his glass-like eyes, as you continued to stare at the ceiling

you were finally opening up to him

just like how he has been doing

“ i took the deal because, you’re right, i judged you, i was stupid and i never expected us to actually be friends, clearly i was wrong. you have taught me so much. you have pushed me into doing things i never thought i could do. you made me see the world in a different way.”

he’s still just listening to you when you finally took your eyes away from the ceiling and faced him

“ i understand if you dont want to see me anymore but i cant leave you knowing that i never got to say this,” you continue, afraid of the results that were about to come

“ what else are you hiding from me?” he says, but this time, he says it softly, the furious changbin that you have encountered just minutes ago was completely gone

“ i think im in love with you,” you say, quickly looking down, embarrassed at your confession

“ y/n look at me,”

“ i dont want to”

“ why?”

“ i know you're gonna break my heart”

“ you broke mine first,” and with that he lifted your chin up, making you look him straight into his eyes before kissing you

this kiss was different from your first one

it was slow but passionate, filled with all of the unsaid words between the two of you

your guys lips both slightly chapped from all the crying

yet his lips still felt like the softest pair against yours

pulling away, changbin leans his forehead against yours, his eyes closed

yours were open though, taking the sight all in before you pulled away, wiping away his left over tears

“ god, were a mess,” he finally says out loud, before he pulled you in a tight hug

“ im sorry,” you say again

“ i’ll forgive you if you promise to continue tutoring me?”

“ what ?”

“ continue the deal, get the money”

“ changbin, i really don't want to do that”

“ i know you dont. but we have to finesse my mom somehow,” he says, bursting into a smile, clearly joking

…

“eYE,,, i cannot believe you right now! You can't be serious!”

“ but i am. go back into her office tell her you’ll continue it and get the money for your education.”

“changbin! stop joking! I already feel bad about it!”

“Okay fine i just like it when you tutor me okay, its kinda sexy” he says

playfully slapping him, you guys laugh, the tension in the air finally gone

“ you know if you didnt buy me those eggs, we wouldnt be here by now,” you say, a small smile on your face

“ hmm, and why?”

“ because those eggs were the first time i realized that the most notorious bad boy, the one and only Seo Changbin, can also be soft,”

“ do not use my name and soft in the same sentence ever again,”

“ what are you gonna do about it?” you reply, taunting him

and so

he pulled you into another kiss

and another

until a series of laughter coming from the both of you interrupted it

“im glad i bought you those eggs”

Ok uhhh claia, lukemaryse and malec superhero au headcanons

first of all, id just like to say that i love this new trend of u guys sending me really vague prompts and giving me complete creative freedom to do whatever i want with them. i think it really shows that u trust me to create good, interesting content, and that means a lot to me. second of all, that trust is entirely misplaced. why would you ever think that id make something good. have you met me. what im trying to say here is basically: this is your own fault

behold:

In a world where everyone has a superpower, the world is bound to work a little different. No one knows what determines people's superpowers; some are fairly common (like teleportation, which led to a lot of ppl working as cabs, taking ppl to and from wherever they need) and others are unique and particularly powerful (and also dangerous, which is why particularly powerful people are part of an elite squad dedicated to keep the world safe; our very own superheroes)

Alec's superpower is definitely unique: he can sense trash. That's it. Hes just going around, living his life, sensing trash. He knows when people are littering. He can sense it from a pretty far away distance. Everywhere he goes, he knows where all the trash cans are. His life is just. Him and the trash, everywhere, haunting him

No one's ever heard of this before. Alec's mom, maryse, can bend all four elements, and is part of the Elite Squad; so is his father, although he retired from action and works behind a desk now. His sister izzy has superspeed and was trained to perfect combat in the hopes she would follow their footsteps, but ultimately decided to give it up and become a biologist instead. And Alec. Can sense trash

This was the source of a lot of Family Drama, since alec's parents were pretty strict and held their position as elite superheroes with pride, expecting nothing less from their children. But after many years of trying and failing to somehow make up for it, Alec decided to say fuck them and fully embraced who he is, refusing to live in apology. Once he finally left their house to live on his own, maryse realised he meant wanting to cut them off his life for real, and came around. Robert's lack of understanding was one of the factors that led to their divorce

Alec became an architect and works to build better and efficient waste collection systems in the country. Due to his power, he knows which places need the most infrastructure investment, as well as the problems that lead to the littering. He also knows which companies are illegally discarding their waste and how, the exact effects of that on the environment, and a lot of stuff that would otherwise only be possible through extensive research. He is an activist for both a better public, free, universal waste removal system, and stricter regulations on companies that profit from environmental destruction.

And the thing is, he likes this life. He's passionate about it. Everyday at work he gets to do a little something to make the world better and fight against injustice and use his place of privilege that comes from his education and his so-called "useless" superpower for change. He wouldn't trade it for the world and he's really passionate about what he does, even if it does take up most of his time

So when his mom comes in one day saying that a new villain named Trash Man is going around and killing people and they need his help to track him, Alec is not. amused.

First of all: Trash Man? come on

But he kind of has no choice, since this is top priority at the moment and the very ministery of security is calling him or something - every citizen is required to register their powers so they know exactly when they're needed

So he goes, and for the first time, he meets the rest of his mom's Top Secret team; first of all, there's the leader, Luke: his power is persuasion and hes very good at de-escalating events to guarantee minimal damage and better solutions, making him the most valuable asset of the team. Then there's Maryse, and under them, a team of relatively young, but very powerful, heroes: maia, a shapeshifter; clary, who can summon weapons and is very good at Stabbing; and Magnus, who can bend time and space

Magnus is also kind of the Group Genius; his power also got him an special interest in physics and chemistry, meaning that he is not only able to use his power intelligently and creatively, but effectively enhance it; he's also very good with tech and responsible for a lot of their non-power-related assets. Honestly, he likes that part way better than the crime-fighting blah blah blah, but he kind of has no choice over what he does because he's an orphan and extremely powerful, meaning he's viewed as a threat by the government while simultaneously being dependant on them, and would pretty much have nowhere to turn to if he didnt start working for them

But really, he wants to be a scientist. He wants to do good things. He wants to create stuff that will make people's lives, and the world, better. He doesn't even believe in this whole "crime fighting" shit; he believes in a just world crime would be minimal and using their resources to fight bad guys instead of working on crime prevention is an absolute waste. But it's not like anybody asked for his opinion.

Alec and Magnus immediately hit it off; Alec was kind of tense at first because surely these guys would have the world's hugest chip on their shoulder, right? But instead everyone welcomes him, and Magnus kind of jokes that he envies him, which takes him by surprise

Because Maia and Clary are both Magnus' great friends as well, Alec also gets closer to them; Clary can be a little self-centered and annoying, but she's cool and Maia always calls her out on it. Maia is a fierce, amazing, smart girl and Alec can totally see why she and Magnus are so close, with their similar sense of humor, shared experiences (Maia is not an orphan but she ran away from home when she was pretty young), and gleaming, almost mischievous intelligence and talent. Alec can hold a conversation with them alright, since as an architect he needs quite some knowledge of physics and as an activist he can also hold pretty good and deep conversations with them about the system and its flawed, unjust logic; but there are some topics they get into that just kind of escalate and seem to get them in their own little world. Alec finds himself watching from the sidelines sometimes, and while he admires that - and doesnt miss the way clary will sometimes sit beside him and watch them as well, a small smile on her face that tells him everything he needs to know - he finds himself... a little upset by it, too

Not that he has a problem with them, but he finds himself wanting to feel like he belongs, and that's kind of- new. It's not like his life is a sad wet sock of loneliness or anything, he has his sister, he has some friends, but he's a private kind of guy and he finds himself more comfortable at the sidelines than the spotlight, except when it comes to his work, because hes good at that

It's just his luck, then, that Trash Man turns out to be really smart and hard to track due to [vague plot noises], giving him all the time he needs to, well, figure this out

So he spends more time with them, particularly Magnus. The both of them will sometimes sit talking for hours, and soon learn a lot about each other. Magnus listens, enraptured, whenever Alec goes on a passionate Trash Rant™ and Alec is always in awe by Magnus' smart solutions. They begin some sort of camraderie that's also laced with Magnus' oh-so-smooth flirting, which started strong and eventually died out as Magnus began to realize he really liked Alec and his usual confidence and devil-may-care attitude vanished. But Alec mistakes this as Magnus losing interest or him seeing things. Cue lots of mutual pining

At least once Alec gets thrown through a wall by some villain; but, little did he know, it wasnt just a normal wall that he broke; it was the fourth wall. Alec looks straight into the reader's eyes, and goes: "I can sense trash. That's why, in this AU, i was never friends with jace". Then Magnus comes in and takes him back to the other side of the wall, and Alec blinks, confused, not remembering what had just happened. This is never mentioned again

Idk theres some gay shit in here, Alec introduces Magnus to Izzy and Magnus is absolutely in awe with her work. Izzy specializes in pollinators and works trying to restore the bee population and guarantee a more sustainable environment. Her work crosses with Alec's a surprising amount of times, and Magnus, who loves both animals and the incredible amount of knowledge her research requires, and they become super good friends almost immediately, which makes Alec very pleased.

More gay shit, Alec and Magnus decide to team up to try and get Clary and Maia together, only to be knocked sideways when they find out they're already dating. Maryse is like "do the four of you ever work" and Alec is hit with the realisation that his mom, too, kind of lives in the sidelines when it comes to things that arent work; luke seems to be kind of the mediator between her and the rest of the team, which is kind of sad. She does seem to have a good relationship with Luke, tho

Eventually they defeat Trash Man and Alec is no longer required to work for them and can go back to his trash activism; and when he does, so does Magnus, who is invited to work with izzy's team, which he gladly accepts

Somehow Alec confesses? And Magnus is in awe because he of course never expected Alec to like him back but. It turns out Alec is the most confident out of the two of them despite their exterior telling most people otherwise. And Magnus just says that yes he likes him back and will go out with him and they kiss passionately in the middle of the lab surrounded by bees but there are also flowers so theres that. And then they get married. I mean not right after but some years later

Magnus leaving inspires the rest of them, in some ways; Maia, Luke and Maryse start actually fighting to change the crime fighting policies to investment in crime prevention because new supervillains will always keep coming. The romantic tension between them finally snaps and they start going out. Maryse seems like such a different person now, more open and happier. Alec is pleased

They save the bees and the trash and the impending environmental apocalypse that looms over us is avoided idk that's all Ive got

Just Friends // Sweet Pea x Reader // pt. 4

A/N: Y’all. It’s finally here! This has been a stressful last two weeks, but I did it. Part 4 is here and up and running. I’m definitely nervous about it; it’s a lot more feelings than I’m used to writing but I like how it came out. I hope y’all do too! Also, listen to Uncomfortable by Wallows because that was a semi-inspiration for some of the chapter and Wallows is just amazing, you should be listening to them anyway.

Again, dedicated to @lilhemmo because she kept me going and motivated to finish this chapter and I honestly don’t think it would be up without her help.

3. Shut up and eat your soup.

Sweet Pea was bored. So incredibly bored that he was considering going to Archie’s gym, thinking he could possibly beat some life into the dull night. He pulled out his phone and decided to annoy Y/N instead, sending her a text, even though she had told him earlier she wouldn’t be able to hang out tonight.

Sweets, I told you. I’m busy.

Sweet Pea rolled his eyes, his thumbs flying across his phone screen.

U sho were able 2 reply 2 my txt rite away busy my ass.

The next text didn’t come for five minutes and Sweet Pea smirked, because he knew she was just being petty.

Well, excuse me for trying to be nice. I’m studying with Betty. Something you should be doing if your texts are any indication of your education.

It usually angered Sweet Pea when people mentioned, more like questioned, his intelligence. He had grown up with people all around him telling him he would always be trailer park trash and would never even graduate high school. But he knew better.

He never did well in school to spite those people. He did well in school, because he liked to learn. His mother had been a teacher and made sure he could read and write all before kindergarten. When she died, Sweet Pea felt like school and learning were the only things that kept him connected to her and so he never took school for granted. By the end of junior year, Sweet Pea was tied for second place with Cheryl Blossom for top of their class; of course, both of them were beaten by Betty Cooper, but rankings never mattered for him – though he did really want to out rank Cheryl by the end of high school.

So, when people would just assume that the big, tall, Southside Serpent must be stupid, he viewed it more of a defamation of his mother’s character and abilities, not his own. That’s how most of his fights started. One negative word about his intelligence, the next sound would be his fist connecting with a jaw. He never regretted those fights.

But Y/N was different. She knew how smart Sweet Pea was, mostly from Betty, and loved asking him questions to see if he knew the answer or if she could ever stump him with something he didn’t know. She also hated the way Sweet Pea texted. All abbreviations and numbers and shorted words and it drove her absolutely crazy, especially because it made perpetuated the rumor that he really was dumb.

“It’s just the way I text, Y/N. It has no bearing on what’s actually going on in my brain.” He told her one day when she had nagged him enough and got him annoyed. “Who cares if they think I’m dumb because of how I text. They’re stupid for assuming the two are connected.”

She let it drop after that. Somewhat. It was now a running joke between them, with Sweet Pea exaggerating his shorthand texts even more than usual, and Y/N pretending it didn’t get under her skin, and it made Sweet Pea smile every time.

u guys r studying? its summer!

Betty and I are taking a few classes at the college. Betty just wants to be ahead, but I need them in order to graduate with everyone.

dats lame. i have ntn 2 do.

She didn’t reply after and Sweet Pea knew he should leave her alone. Besides, he’d see her later tonight at the bonfire Fangs was putting together. Hopefully.

He was wrong. It’d been an hour since the bonfire officially started and Y/N still wasn’t here. Sweet Pea wanted to text her, ask her where she was, but he thought that was too desperate. When Betty showed up without her, he knew she wouldn’t be coming. But he didn’t know why.

And if Toni and Fangs were here, he’d have asked Betty where she was. But the serpents had enough ammunition to tease him and Sweet Pea really tried his hardest not to give them more. So, instead, he sat on an uncomfortable log in front of the fire, internally miserable, while everyone around him laughed and enjoyed the chilly night.

He almost cheered out loud when Fangs finally brought up his cousin.

“So, why isn’t Y/N here?” Fangs stared straight at Sweet Pea, who furrowed his brows and looked around.

“Why are you asking me? She’s your cousin.”

Sweet Pea waited for the teasing remark, how they were attached at the hip, or that she was his other half, but Betty spoke up first.

“She’s sick. Got a cold after that day at Sweetwater River last week.”

“And she’s still sick?” Sweet Pea didn’t even try to mask his concern. He saw Toni give Fangs a nudge and they both laughed, but he didn’t care at this point.

“Yeah. I thought she was over it when she asked to study today, but it was still pretty bad.” Betty took a sip from her red solo cup before continuing. “I tried telling her that we could study another day, but that girl doesn’t listen to reason.”

“Sounds like Y/N.” Fangs said.

“How did you not know, Fangs?”

Fangs shrugged. “I’ve been at Kevin’s for the past few days. And she didn’t seem so bad last week, just a little sniffly.”

Sweet Pea rolled his eyes. Fangs wouldn’t notice a flaming comet if it was heading straight toward him. “Is anyone there to, take care of her or something?”

“Nah, parents are away for the rest of the week. Something about ‘getting away from us brats’.”

Sweet Pea picked at a stray splinter in the log he was sitting on as everyone chuckled. The atmosphere felt different somehow, like something was off or missing. It didn’t feel right without Y/N. Without thinking, Sweet Pea jolted up, eyes wide as the group turned their heads to stare at him.

“I’m gonna go, uh, make sure Y/N is okay,” he dusted imaginary lint off his black jeans. “You know, since none of you guys are going.”

“Oh, I can go with -”

“No, no,” Sweet Pea said, maybe a little too quickly. He groaned internally at Toni’s knowing stare, her lip curling into a sly smile. “I can handle it, Fangs.”

Before they could come up with anymore teasing remarks, Sweet Pea gave them an awkward smile and jogged to his bike, which was parked between Jughead’s and Fang’s.

“Where you off to in such a hurry?”

Sweet Pea startled, glancing around in the dark to try and place where the voice came from. Jughead’s face came into view, lit up by the light of his cigarette. Betty didn’t like it when Jughead smoked and Sweet Pea often found him off in some dark corner, savoring a long drag before he had to go back to his girlfriend.

“Uh, Y/N’s sick. I volunteered to check on her.” Jughead nodded slowly, taking another drag. “Please, nothing about how I’m in love with her or whatever, I get enough of that shit from Fangs and Toni and -”

“Relax, Pea. I wasn’t going to say anything.” Jughead chuckled, flicking the cigarette to the ground and grinding it under the heel of his boot.

“Cool.” Sweet Pea swung his leg over his bike, ready to kick start it when Jughead made him pause.

“Just… just don’t waste a lot of time in denial, Sweet Pea.” Jughead turned to look where the rest of the group was, no doubt focused on Betty, who was talking with Toni and Cheryl and smiling brightly. “Girls like that don’t come around very often. And they don’t wait around either.”

Sweet Pea knew he was overdoing it. He was just supposed to be here to check on her, make sure she wasn’t dead or something. But gifts? That seemed like he was doing too much. Taking a deep breath, he knocked on the door before he lost his nerve.

“Sweets?” Y/N stood in the open doorway, all red nose and watery eyes, hair thrown up into a messy bun, and a thick blanket wrapped tightly around her small frame. Her voice was raw and rough and Sweet Pea felt like he had been kicked in the chest. She was absolutely breath-taking. “What are you doing here?”

The star struck serpent lifted up the bag that held the steaming chicken noodle soup and The Breakfast Club DVD. “I heard you were sick.”

Y/N’s laughed turned into a rough cough and she ducked her head into her elbow, muffling the sound. “That’s the understatement of the century. I feel like death.”

“You look it.” Sweet Pea teased, pushing past her to set the bag down on the coffee table in the hallway. Y/N rolled her eyes.

“Thank you for the soup. Now get out.”

Sweet Pea blinked, raising his eyebrows.

“I am seriously sick. There’s no way I’m letting you stay and then getting you sick.”

“Try and move me.” He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned against the table, smirking at Y/N, who still had a tight grip on the door. After a few more seconds of staring, Y/N sighed heavily, admitting defeat as she let the door swing shut.

“Fine, whatever. If you get sick, do not blame it on me.”

“You’ve never seen The Breakfast Club?”

“Nope.”

“I thought it was every girl’s feel good movie!”

Y/N shrugged, lifting another spoonful of soup up to her lips. “I was more of a Ferris Bueller’s Day Off kind of girl.”

“Mmm, good choice.”

Sweet Pea and Y/N were laying down on her bed, backs propped up against a multitude pillows, watching the dvd that Sweet Pea had brought. Y/N was curled up with her blankets and cup of soup, thigh pressed against his leg, warmth spreading slowly throughout his entire body.

He had never felt so comfortable, yet so uncomfortable in his life. He was perfectly relaxed, loving the warmth flowing from her body to his, and the feeling of home she gave off. And yet, his heart beat wildly against his chest and his breath caught in his lungs. All he wanted to do was wrap her in his arms and never let her go.

It felt like too much way too soon. God she would tease him endlessly if he spoke those feelings out loud.

Aww, Sweet Pea, the big bad serpent, brought down to his knees by a girl.

But was that really such a bad thing? Jughead’s words echoed through his head, girls like that don’t come around very often.

Sweet Pea looked at Y/N, drinking her in. She was smiling brightly, giggling as the breakfast club dance montage came on, wisps of hair falling from her bun and framing her face. If Y/N was the girl that brought him to his knees?

No, that wouldn’t be a bad thing at all.

“You didn’t have to stay, Sweets.” Y/N said softly, knocking Sweet Pea from his thoughts. “I would have been fine by myself -” Y/N interrupted herself with a coughing fit, immediately ducking into her blanket as Sweet Pea quickly grabbed the cup of soup so she wouldn’t spill it all over her sheets.

“Shut up and eat your soup.” He said, chuckling at her sheepish grin as he handed her back the warm paper cup.

A few minutes later, soup completely finished, and the movie now moved onto the makeover scene, Sweet Pea could practically feel Y/N falling asleep next to him. Glancing at her from the corner of his eye, he scooted closer, the entire length of his arm pushed tightly up against hers. That was all it took for Y/N to relax her body against Sweet Pea, head falling to his chest and arm sliding around him to pull herself even closer.

Every one of Sweet Pea’s nerves suddenly flamed, spreading scorching fire from every point that Y/N’s body met his. His brain short circuited, the only thing he could comprehend doing was blink. Y/N was tucked snugly into the crook of his arm and finally he reacted, slowly shifting lower against the pillows, to lay more comfortably, and wrapping his arms around the sleeping girl. He breathed in deeply, her hair smelling of mint and honey, and finally his heart calmed in his chest, feeling more at ease than he ever did in his own bed.

As he drifted off to sleep, the sound of the movie playing in the background, Y/N’s soft snores, and the smell mint and honey filling his senses, Sweet Pea knew, Y/N had brought him down to his knees. And he was right. It wasn’t bad at all.
