Strangerville, but eleven-style, because what the fuck else? Been playing around with some character lore, and now I wanna do a Strangerville Playthrough with Alice. I'm busy setting up right now, since she isn't part of the Eclectic Arts Household anymore. I'm planning her whole family and everything. Meanwhile, I yoinked Erwin from his hidden NPC cave, and expanded his role. He's Going Through It. The Roswells are also involved, ehehe. Anyway; these two are gonna be my main duo, and this is how I think their first meeting went down, because I think I'm funny as hell. My guy gets greeted by one (1) pretty woman and immediately crumples. Please, he's terribly paranoid, he does apologize, after near interrogating Alice to figure out if she's military or not.

How do you feel about concepts for redeemed/good guy Ganondorf? I don't remember if you've said anything on it before, so I am curious to see what sorts of thoughts you have to share or if you've thought about the idea before (especially since you've worked on SoF so I assume you've thought about many possibilities of a "what if" Zelda game)

For my part: I have mixed feelings, and I think a lot of concepts end up being "I want a buff guy to ship Link with"; I also think a lot of criticisms of the racism in many depictions of Ganondorf have merit (though I don't speak on them in depth because I'm white) and would love to see a more favorable/complex portrayal of him and other characters of color in LoZ. I personally haven't seen many versions of good guy/redeemed Ganondorf that really engage with the base structure of the LoZ games but I would love to see one that did.

Anyways I love your blog and analysis and I love seeing someone who finds analysis as inherently a part of their engagement with fandom as me, it's really nice :) I hope you're having a good day

I never posted about it much but sof did actually have a somewhat redeemed ganondorf, or as close to "good guy" as i'm willing to go with him in my own writing. sof was/is very much about me exploring the religious aspects of the lore and issues of fate vs self-determination, so my ganondorf was a much younger version of the character (similar in age to link and zelda) born into an extremist hylia-worshipping doomsday cult. in sof, ganondorf finds the remains of DEMISE'S sword and believes it to be the master sword, so when it starts ordering him around he follows the orders without question, believing that he's hearing the voice of hylia, and basically everyone in his life affirms to him that this is the correct choice and he's hylia's chosen one. Because of the intensity of the religious doctrine he was raised with, he has no problem following the sword's orders even when they become progressively more and more violent, and by the time link and zelda get to him he's nearly past the point of no return. (this is also partially a product of the setting I chose to put sof in--it's one of if not the first cycles after sksw, so the hyruleans' understanding of the reincarnation cycle and their own general history isn't super solid.) So that's my personal take on a "good guy" ganondorf, and, i think, the way i'd like to see it done in canon if ever they choose to go that route--because loz deals so much with the concepts of fate and cycles, I think leaning into a ganondorf who isn't inherently evil but can't escape the fate that waits for him is a fun way to take it.

it’s been the kind of day that drains you to your very bones. every ounce of energy sucked dry, leaving you craving nothing but the release of a scalding hot shower. something about the almost-boiling water always seems to melt the weight of the world off your shoulders.

so you slip into the bathroom, lock the door behind you, and cling to the sudden silence, hoping it can quiet the chaos storming through your mind.

but barely five minutes pass before the doorknob rattles sharply, followed by an exaggerated, dramatic sigh from the other side.

baekhyun.

the sound of his footsteps shuffling off to the kitchen, and you just know what’s coming. not even a minute later, you hear the doorknob click open, followed by his low, playful grumble weaving through the steam: “tsk! unbelievable. can’t believe this woman actually tried to shower without ME and lock ME out of MY own bathroom...like i'm not her husband or something...”

the soft rustle of his clothes slipping to the floor follows, and you can't help but let out a quiet, frustrated breath. already plotting how you’ll lock every damn chopstick in the bathroom with you the next time you crave some peace and fucking quiet.

you’re exhausted, overstimulated, and all you wanted was some time to yourself. but then, he steps into the shower behind you, his arms sliding around your waist in a gentle, grounding hold. immediately, the tension starts to melt, like warm honey trickling over your skin. no words are necessary; he’s always known how to read you, how to sense what you need without a single glance. he’s always known. he always will.

he pulls you closer, resting his chin on top of your head, his presence a quiet reassurance. “hey, it’s okay, baby. i’m here. you did your best today,” he murmurs, his voice soft, the words brushing your ear like a warm caress. his lips press gentle, comforting kisses into your damp hair, each one soothing the weight of the world pressing against your shoulders. slowly, the pressure lifts, and a calm washes over you.

when you finally turn to face him, the soft smile tugging at your lips catches his eye. his eyes linger on you, a grin spreading across his face as he registers the shift in your mood, convinced everything’s fine now—like the weight of the day has simply evaporated.

“damn, this shower’s hotter than hell. was your day really that bad??? y'think we can cool it down a little? geeeez.”

you roll your eyes, swatting his hand away just as it reaches for the knob, and with an exasperated shove, you push him out of the shower. he stumbles, catching himself just in time, but the second he does, the whining starts—his eyes wide, his voice dripping with exaggerated desperation. “baby, i was joking!!! come on, pleaaaase! it’s freezing out here!” he pleads, dragging out every syllable as if your refusal might be the end of him. “i’ll be good, i swearrrr,” he adds, his tone a mix of pleading and mock agony.

"fine," you say with a reluctant sigh and he’s quick to slide back in with that familiar, cocky smirk, already reclaiming his space.

"i should've known my little demon of a wife likes her showers scorching hot," he murmurs, his eyes flashing with amusement. "guess i can take the heat every now and then."

you squeeze your eyes shut, pinching the bridge of your nose as your patience breaks yet again. "oh my god. shut up or get the fuck out, baekhyun."

he lets out a low, breathy laugh at the twitch in your eye, clearly finding your irritation both cute and endearing. as if the look in your eyes isn’t screaming, i will fucking kill you, but rather something soft and harmless—like you’re a cute, cuddly bunny incapable of causing any real harm.

his grin only widens, eyes narrowing into playful crescents as his nose scrunches with amusement. before you can cuss him out for not taking you seriously, he closes the space between you, moving with a fluid, effortless grace. his hands slide up, cradling your face with a possessive tenderness that makes your pulse skip. in a heartbeat, his lips are on yours, the kiss so sudden and intense that it knocks the breath right out of your lungs.

“mmm, you're so fuckin' cute when you're fiesty,” he murmurs, his breath warm against your lips, and his smirk only deepens when he sees the heat rise in your cheeks. he leans in just enough to let his lips graze your ear, the smirk never leaving his face. "makes me wanna see just how far i can push you."

it's the way po doesn't expect anything when it comes to this new relationship. he knows thame is inexperienced and a bit slow and on top of it all an idol and is ready to accomodate all that. he doesn't expect him to go out of his way to take care of po's feelings and court him and make time for him and showcase his attraction and be romantic and every little thing above the underground level bar earn set for him takes po by surprise which is so bittersweet :(

also, this is why they could never make me hate jun because this is exactly what he says to thame! why must po's life revolve around thame, risk his job for thame? (po's life also revolved around earn to the point that he literally left his JOB!)

po seems to have a habit of putting everyone else first even if it harms him and even if thame means no harm, him being a little slow to connect these dots would eventually hurt po

i just have so many feelings about ted and trent both being lowkey perpetually surprised at the other's genuinely high opinion of them

like. ted repeatedly being a little confounded that trent crimm (!!!!) honestly just thinks so incredibly highly of him and really honestly cares about his opinion and what he thinks and wants his approval, like. cool cat trent crimm cares what ted thinks and thinks ted is wonderful and genuinely likes him and his company and likes listening to him talk

versus like, trent being shocked and bewildered to realize that ted like, actually likes him??? as a person??? not just ted's tedness where he likes everyone and is nice to everyone but like he actually, sincerely likes him more than most people and enjoys his company and thinks he's neat. and like part of that is his early realization in s1e3 where he like, realizes ted earnestly enjoys meeting people and finds nice things in everyone he talks to, even trent, but also it's later, him realizing ted specifically, genuinely likes trent. just like, as a person. not just as a writer or a reporter, which was already a bit baffling, but trent, as a person. in a deeper way, in a specific way, he just likes trent??? for real????? and cares about his opinion????

like both of them being mystified that someone so cool and wonderful and smart and handsome could ever think they're interesting and captivating and care about their opinion.

and extending that more blatantly into romance (although honestly this is excellent without it) like. both of them being bewildered at finding someone they earnestly like who also.... doesn't think they're annoying??? and likes listening to them talk??? and talks back because they were paying attention??? having long conversations just the two of them and both of them just being endlessly interested in what the other has to say and being quietly confused and pleased that the other cares what they have to say and about their opinion???
