obligatory welcome guide for redditors

A lot of the guides I've seen don't actually seem to understand how reddit works in comparison to tumblr so

your blog is basically your own small subreddit. some people curate this heavily to fit a theme, like a sub, most people don't

reblogs are culturally equivilant to upvotes but functionally equvilant to crossposting

there is an algorithm. it sucks and nobody uses it. turn it off in settings. everything is generally chronological

likes are functionally equivilant to saving a post

you've probably already seen this but change your icon and put something in your bio or people WILL assume you're a bot. personal info not required

generally, anything you would put as a comment on a thread should go in the tags or the replies of a post. only add comments in reblogs if you want it to become part of the base post

tags are mostly equivilant to flairs, used for organization and commentary

your dashboard is an aggregation of everyone you follow

there is an r/all equivilant(trending page) but it sucks and nobody uses it

our search also sucks. your best bet is using tumblr.com/tagged/[TAG] and not /search

there are no mods

by extension, reporting something doesn't put it in front of the mods, it sends it to staff, who may or may not do anything(usually they don't)

there is no karma, there are no karma limits. anyone can reblog anything, comment/reply to anything, or post in any tag

"reposting"(reblogging) old content doesn't matter. people can and will reblog the same post multiple times, including in a row

CAVEAT. reposting someones art(NOT reblogging, making a new post) is a dick move. i know this is commonplace on fandom subs but its not necessary here. everything you post should be [OC] unless you are reblogging. or posting shitty memes

hey guys!! im currently brainstorming some event ideas, but me and my friends are torn, so this is the most informal of interest checks!! more info about each event idea will be below the cut. theyre all mcyt-specifc, though some may be specific to certain smps, so keep that in mind!

(they may become more multi-fandom in the future, we just wanna keep things somewhat small for now! we have some ideas for zines and zine-adjacent projects, but those will have their own interest checks once we get a handle on other events!)

MAP

-> this is the most straight-forward idea -- a MAP (multi-animator project)!! mods would find songs we enjoy, and let our animators vote! we would not require specifically animatic; animatics and stills would be fine! this would either be a larger tribute to multiple servers, OR it would be specific to one (probably QSMP, sorry non-QSMP enjoyers!)

Curse Event

-> this could go with either individuals or teams, depending on what is most popular! one person/team would have a "curse" (a specific phrase, trope, theme, idea, or other element present in their work), which they would spread to others by "attacking" them, a la Artfight. it would be almost murder mystery-esque!

Saw Trap Event

-> our silliest idea so far. creators are given a handicap of some sort, then have to create using that handicap by a deadline. if their work is not complete, or does not have the handicap, then they get an additional handicap for the next round! completing rounds removes handicaps, and it would be like a multi-round exchange!

Yandere Event

-> each participant is given one individual as their "interest". you are now parasocially attached to this person, and want to create for them while "attacking" everyone around them (similar to the curse event), without getting caught! you dont want anyone to know who your interest is, so try to keep it anonymous!

Escape Room

-> probably a team event!! each team would follow "clues" and have to create for each clue. once your clue has been solved and your creation is complete, you move on to the next clue. once you solve all the clues and create all the pieces, you escape! this could either be a different team member creating something each round (with input from team members), or everyone working collaboratively on one piece! an art piece with one person doing sketching, another lining, another coloring, another rendering; a webweave where half the teams finds elements and puts them together, and the other half writes or draws new elements; a fic with multiple authors. the world is your oyster!

The second death was by Bill the Pony, it was so brutal that Aragorn stared at the ‘You Died’ screen for five minutes straight 

Usually hanging out with Boromir, Legolas, and Gimli

Get’s his weapons + armour from Gimli

Has made a beautiful monument/statue of Arwen 

Its veryyyyyyyyyyyy far tho

He sends letters to Legolas (Delivered by Pippin) in Elvish. But it’s just silly stuff

Always exploring, he buys maps from Frodo

Collects rare items

He’s got stuff from the Nether to the Ocean Monument

Trades with Gandalf in regards of Nether wart, blaze rods, etc

He can usually find Pippin whenever he gets lost exploring

His base is at Rivendell

He also built a secret Ranger base cuz he loves his ranger homies

Has a great sense of direction (from his Ranger skills) and is able to get to everyone else’s bases with Coordinates or maps

Fills out Frodo’s maps for him

As much as I want to say he has a great mic, he doesn’t

He really gives the vibes of having the most crappiest and spotty mic.

“Fr—o- I —— *KSHHH*—- sun——, isn’t that right?”

Frodo: 👁️👄👁️ …. Right.

Despite this, he constantly tries to still use his mic until someone tells him they can’t understand him

Ends up using the chat halfway through

But uses full on sentences with perfect grammar and everything

Rebuilt a new and improved Greenwood

On his father’s throne, there’s a sign in Elvish that says ‘Doodoo head’

He somehow breaks into Aragorn’s base and leaves silly insults written on a book and quills or signs

Such as “you stupid” “u ugly” “doodoohead” “yo mom” “ur musty”

Legolas absolutely loves doing it

Didn’t get Minecraft at first

When I say he was a noob in the first few hours of playing, HE WAS A NOOB NOOB

Aragorn and Pippin had to guide him through

Usually found PvP’ing with Gimli

For the life of him, he cannot keep a pet

It’s like bad luck

No matter how hard he keeps the pet safe, they’re always killed

Merry’s graveyard is filled with his previous pets

Swore to never tame another animal

A god at decorating

Whereas Merry is good at building, Merry is horrible at decor. And so, he helped out with decorating Merry and Pippin’s base (which is how Pippin learned how to decorate)

They cornered Legolas and started to do the Crouch bop and begged for him to help out

Legolas will not admit aloud but he found it endearing

He has a soft spot for the hobbits lmao

However, he has shot both Merry and Pippin with potions arrows

Hasn’t killed them tho

Legolas’s skin was made by your truly, Merry

(NOTE: I made this back in likeeee 2021 (?), wrote a huge chunk after this line, forgot to press save, only had it up to here, and I had to just put my phone down. The frustration I felt 😭 Buuut it’s been sitting in my drafts for literally years cuz I was THAT frustrated and had no motivation to try and remember/rewrite what I lost. Was just checking out my drafts and remembered I haven’t finished it. So, Voilà.)

Enjoys annoying Gimli IMMENSELY

Is absolutely helpless when it comes to mining and the Nether. Most of his deaths come from either mining (Falling from tall heights, suffocating from gravel, falling in lava) and the Nether (Again, falling in Lava, trying to kill Pigmen, trying to sleep in the Nether)

As expected, absolute god at archery

Great at parkour and makes parkour in Greenwood

Once the group defeated the Ender dragon, he was the first to use Elytra and LOVES it

Has a good mic but usually forgets to mute himself

Also writes in full sentences, proper grammar and fancy words in chat

Gimli

Obviously he’s the miner friend

He’s a proud dwarf, so of course he’s gonna do what his people do best

Rebuilt Erebor/The Lonely Mountain, the Glittering caves/the White Mountains, and The Misty Mountains

Like he really went crazy with the builds

But it was all because he had too much blocks

Makes extremely complicated and vast mines

Even Aragorn gets turned around

They all somehow connect and Merry n’ Pippin get lost every time they try to explore his mines

He has to go retrieve them every time

In the end, he made some rails that directly connect everyone’s bases so that no one (the hobbits) gets lost

An absolute demon at Redstone

Secret doors, bases, and passages

He has A LOT of resources

Collects everything that he mines even if it’s Andesite

He made the Lonely Mountain as a base for all the materials

Literally chests upon chest filled with resources

Trades with the fellowship

The hobbits trade any enchanted books or food for building supplies

Aragorn and Boromir trade meats, wood, and dye for armour and tools

Gandalf trades enchanted books, potions, and exotic stuff he finds for potion materials (lapis, redstone, glowstone, gold, spider eye, coal, etc.) and a place to stay lmao

At the beginning, both Legolas and Gimli refused to trade with each other

Begrudgingly, Legolas began to trade other types of wood and rare items or loot like a Trident for building materials, nether materials and ores once he realized that he was hopeless with mining and the Nether

Enemies to BFFS fr

They do lots of competitions and prank wars

Dabbles in enchantment, makes high quality armour and weapons

Uses an axe for combat

Repairs any abandoned mineshafts he finds

Best builder in the fellowship

Everyone has to spam the chat in order for him to go to sleep for a quick sec

the only times he isn’t underground is when there’s a raid at one of Boromirs villages, trading with the fellowship (and even then, he’ll just send Pip to deliver it or send it in a minecart chest) or group events/quests

Otherwise, he won’t be seen for DAYS

Brings the whole squad down into the Deep Dark to fight the Warden

Has an ok mic, usually fine but occasionally cuts out

Writes in shortened words in the chat

It annoys Gandalf and Legolas

He’s the type to find villages, fix it up and improve it

Turned an Abandoned zombie village into Minas Tirith and healed the zombie villagers

He’s decent at building but not the best with creative builds

Basically only good at building Gondorian architecture and medieval style architecture

Claimed a huge chunk of land that nobody was using and named it Gondor

He looks after numerous villages and maintains them

But likes to visit everyone, tours Gimli’s mines, tries out Legolas’s parkour in Greenwood, stays at Rivendell and helps out Aragorn with whatever he’s doing, and ‘vacations’ at the Shire

(Merry and Pippin mainly drag him into whatever shenanigans they’re up to)

A duo with Aragorn when it comes to adventures

Exploring the Nether, bastions, jungle temples, desert temples, ocean monuments, the deep dark, and the End.

Amazing at combat and PVP

Uses a shield, sword, and occasionally a crossbow

Also has a soft spot for the hobbits

Merry and Pippin definitely exploit the crouch bopping to convince him

He was the one that found Frodo’s secret dungeon underneath his smial

Was secretly a bit freaked out and never said a word until everyone else found out

“Why didn’t you tell anyone?” “I’m afraid Frodo might’ve sacrificed me or something along those lines”

Is constantly gifted flowers by the hobbits

He has no idea what to do with him but felt like he couldn’t refuse when even Frodo and Sam gave him flowers

might think its a bit stupid at first and Completely oblivious to the fact that hobbits like to communicate through the language of flowers

Is secretly flattered tho

Once it got boring when nothings really happened with his villages (he of course already expanded them and built fortifications like walls) he ended up claiming another chunk of unused land and recreated Rohan

He loves Rohan so he couldn’t help himself

Got into horse breeding he was finishing up Edoras

Named his best horse after Faramir

Made roads connecting everyone’s builds and bases

When he finished, that’s when he realized that Gimli already did that but underground

Boromir, exhausted and sounding defeated: “why didn’t you tell me before I started this project?”

Gimli: “how was I supposed to know! I thought you knew the railways were all connected to every base”

Decent mic, you can hear him grumbling in the background as he’s doing whatever

Idk why but he seems to be the type of guy to sneeze like a dad

Temporarily deafens everyone’s ears when he sneezes with his mic on

Merry and Pippin will often get blamed for Gandalf’s traps and it started a war

As everyone’s fighting it out, Gandalf is watching with a small smile on his face

I usually don’t like to delve into drama, but I can’t stay silent any longer. Mod Hebi of @fuckyeahmugiwaras is an EXTREMELY predatory individual. I will not be disclosing any of my sources, for my safety and theirs, as she has an irl documented history of hostility towards her critics.

To start, Mod Hebi is inappropriately fond of Straw Hat Luffy (who she met irl when she was in her 30s and he was 17). I’ve been told she’s tried to flirt with him on several occasions, given him large gifts, and tried to guilt him into choosing time with her over his female crewmates.

Red has told me he's pursuing a medical degree and won't actually do non-qualified surgery.

My point: the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and your blog was unsafe.

To any possible counterarguments: "But they (people following/asking advice) know the risks!" That's victim-blaming. Red gave himself the responsibility to give harm-reducing advice, but he didn't do a good job.

"But I know the risks!" You can't possibly know the risks because Red doesn't know either or "kinda knows" but has not properly informed his audience, it didnt give sources, oversimplified their advice and failed to provide accurate information about risk. Or gave plain misinformation.

Again I'm not transid, I can't possibly imagine what you're going through in order to try anything at all to feel better, including trying experimental surgery not legally available or not researched at all. However, please please please do not become a victim of medical deceit or whatever tf it's called. Even if the blog owner tries their best to be reliable.

They might sound confident, but they do not know what they are saying, what they're telling others to do.

THATS MISINFORMATION! Yes you may tan to get darker (Lin's tone may or may not be achievable to you) but one: it's not permanent unless you're constantly going out; two: SKIN CANCER!!!! DONT OVER-EXPOSE YOURSELF TO THE SUN!!!! USE SUNSCREEN!!

TO ANYONE SEEKING A MUCH DARKER TONE: YOU CAN'T "GO AS DARK AS YOU WANT TO" BY TANNING. Just look at people who have lived their whole lives outdoors like farmers! White people can't tan to black! There's a limit to how tan you may get! Are you seriously gonna risk skin cancer for an impossible thing???

If anyone reading this is seriously thinking of amputating themselves, and will not change their minds no matter what, please just have someone immediately drive you to the hospital. I do not support such operation and you can still die or get horribly sick even with your best precautions, but you better receive actual medical attention and stay alive rather than trying to heal it yourself. Because what you'll most likely get from following Red's advice is DEATH FROM BLOOD LOSS. Again, if you absolutely cannot get rid of this dysphoria with therapy, or manage it at least, or have a doctor do it for you, I still would NEVER suggest you do it yourself, but IF you end up doing that then at least please go straight to the hospital instead of trying to heal it yourself.

Also, now that Red has clarified she won't perform surgery until having an actual degree, you can't really go to her XD

Throat and nasal passages may become painful and swollen, and the swelling may restrict airways, making breathing difficult or impossible. If the calcium hydroxide particles are carried all the way to the lungs, this may further complicate breathing. Victims of this type of exposure should be taken immediately to a fresh air environment, and emergency services should be contacted right away. Administration of oxygen and emergency respiratory assistance may be required.

a teeeeeeny little notice

Hello! Faruzan mod here.

If you've noticed, most of the accounts that I run (known to the public) have not been very active recently. After I dropped uhm my last Steambird issue I was VERY burnt out, HAHA. It was very taxing on my energy and motivation and I didn't really feel in the mood to rp or write for the Steambird or anything.

While I still feel a tad burnt out, I'm going to try to return back to my normal activeness!! For the time being, though, I'll probably stick to replying to any asks that pop into my inbox(es).

I'm also going to officially be putting the Steambird on a hiatus, and until I see anything really silly I can write about.

to explain about the Steambird, its just that as of late and for the past few months, Genshin-official hasn't been as silly as it had been back in July of 2023. I joined this community because of how silly it was and I love being apart of it. And while I love all the multipara roleplay and serious worldbuilding and character development of all these accounts, it just feels so foreign to me.

I think when I feel better I'll try to interact with more accounts and be really silly! but despite still being a minor, i do still have to juggle my own life. (Okay, well, there's nothing really to juggle im just really unmotivated.)

And to be so honest, writing about the serious occurrences in the community just does not bring me any joy. It's interesting, sure, but writing the Steambird has just lost its spark for me. I'm basically a one man show too HAHA. Not to discredit my amazing link finder Minie. But I just don't think I feel up to the task and I'm sorry to anybody who enjoyed my issues. I want be able to give the same silly quality of issues like I did in my first two Steambird specials. People liked that and I felt so happy that they did and now reading back on my articles they just feel so bland and unexcited. I want to bring back that silly quality for my readers.

And with this hiatus, I think I may consider deleting or repurposing several accounts to characters that I truly love and enjoy and whatever. Because honestly despite being an ongoing inside joke between the early members of the Genshin-official community, having 22 roleplay accounts is A LOT.

And I also recognize that with the Dragonspine RP threads most of the halt in finishing it is.. my fault, actually. But I intend to get back in on it so we can finally put a finish to the narrative we as a community have scripted together!! (The Mondstadt portion, anyway.)

Uhm... I dont think i have anything else to say, but thank you to everyone who has followed and laughed and smiled at my accounts because you truly all brighten up my days.

Hi! Don't be sorry! Around 2014-2015 the regular fandom tags like #onceler and #the lorax started getting filled more and more with outside people hating on the fandom, so the fandom agreed on using more discreet tags so that we could see things without having to sift through all the negativity. Not all of them are relevant anymore obviously, but as you can see, #lerkimpails is a tag for anything related to askblogs. Over time though and with so many new people joining the fandom, awareness of those tags got lost, but I'm sure some people still use them and/or follow them today.

As for your first question, I am wondering...what is your definition of "doing well"? Do you need 100 notes per post to consider it "enough traction to keep going"? Or maybe you can be satisfied enough just enjoying something with your friends..? If you're only making an askblog expecting to get attention then in my opinion I think you'd be setting yourself up for disappointment... When I worked on my first Audrey askblog in 2012-2013, all her posts back then had an average of only 2-8 likes and 0 reblogs, and half the time I had to send anon asks to her blog myself, but I kept going because I was just so excited to put my ideas and headcanons out there for those 2-8 people, and I still consider it one of the most fun times I've ever had in the fandom. So it all really depends on your perspective and mindset! If you're passionate about something, you will naturally keep going, and the right people will find you and support you.

That all said, if there's an askblog you want to see more of, and if you have the time and energy to do so, you could be brave and engage with them! Send them asks, share them with your friends, tell the mod you like their oc etc, I'm sure everyone agrees it can really make someone's day.

so im watching a list on worst to best resident evil games and every time someone does one of these they always talk about all the thing og re4 did first as far as mechanics and stuff and most of them were in dead aim first which like im not complaining (well i mean i guess i kind of am) and trying to not let the snooty resi fan in me out but like re4 wouldn’t exist in the way we know it if it wasn’t for dead aim. like you play dead aim and then play og4 and tell me dead aim wasn’t the blueprint. like im not saying this as someone who isn’t the biggest fan of og4 and trying to shit talk it im saying this as someone who is overly passionate about a game that doesn’t get enough credit for what it actually did to the gaming industry. like sure im overhyping the shit out of dead aim because it is inherently not great but if that game didn’t exist og4 wouldn’t either. i mean re4 is just diet metal gear but my argument still stands. i will die and leave my body to rot on this hill.

also also re5 is diet watered down gears of war and after playing through the first two gears games and going back to re5 for the first time in years makes me wish that i was playing gears instead…also dom over sheva all day. im sorry sheva i love you but don is supreme. im not ready for gears3.

i also think i love dead aim because i think its it’s the first time i realised that capcom will release ‘bad’ games just to test game mechanics because they know us resi fans are psychotic and will buy whatever they throw at us. (also side note like i fully believe they never intended to release re:verse as a full game. capcom has enough money that they can afford to do this sort of thing. they’ll lose less money developing a shitty half hearted multiplayer game and keeping it in beta to gauge the reaction than just putting out a multi that people buy, hate, and then lose faith in the company; potentially leading to poor sales on future games. i think they learned their lesson with umbrella corp to not just make things to follow trends. like village is clearly a test run for what they wanted to do with 4s remake (also side note…i love the whole REmake/REmak3/re-three-make (i think that’s my fave honestly)/REm4ke (re2 doesn’t work i refuse to call it re-two-make i just can’t) thing like i always called the og REmake and the first time i saw other people doing it was the coolest thing cuz it just felt like we were all this giant hive mind. like every time i see someone doing it my heart fills with so much joy i don’t care how lame that sounds but ANYWAY.

i dont even know how i got on this tangent. my brain is just in resi mode apparently.

but what i was trying to say with them never releasing re:verse they’re clearly working on a multiplayer and part of me is thinking/hoping it will be for the multiplayer in 6 when they eventually remake that. that multiplayer was the only one i actually played online. it was legit so much fun. and they’re clearly working on outbreak. they would be stupid not to. they’ll definitely have to allow team chat because the original outbreak mechanics are trash by todays standards (not even resi streamers play it they only play with the team chat mod) plus it just makes it insanely difficult to play with people online who may not be great at these sorts of games or doesn’t know where to go and trying to communicate only by whatever lines the game allows you to use and only being able to hear other characters when they’re in the same room as you is beyond frustrating. i was definitely the kid that everyone got angry with for not knowing what they were supposed to do and just ran around being annoying spamming the voice lines. like it’s great as a single player game (maybe playing with friends) because it’s so immersive but it’s awful for trying to play with others. but all these multiplayer games they’re putting out they’re clearly making simple arenas shooters to test player/enemy mechanics and genre types without taking too much of a risk…right? or am i looking too much into it than i should be…which honestly possible knowing me. if that is the case it’s smart as hell if you can afford it. going back to my original thought…i also think re3 was to test for how leon would play in re4, like you could make the argument that’s why it seems so low effort in comparison to re2. like they were more interested in re4 that re3 was just another blueprint. like i do think capcom is playing 4d chess a little bit but i also think i have a major tendency to give capcom more credit than they deserve.

but fuck who would have thought the tables would turn between konami and capcom. like resi was commercially more popular but in the survival horror community (at least the corner i grew up in) silent hill was supreme. we watched resi fall from grace while regardless of how anyone feels about the room and downpour and all the other non team silent games they still have something to offer in their own way even if they make for bad silent hill games. as resi tried to go mainstream it lost what made resi resi and people just stopped caring while silent hill never really went away. people stopped asking for new resi but the need for another trip to silent hill was always being talked about. now capcom is back on top. resi dominating, and Konami is putting out silent hill skateboards (which are actually pretty dope but why the fuck who asked for this). like these modern resi games are what shinji mikami wanted resi to be from the start the hardware just didn’t allow for it. the original resi was supposed to be a co-op horror fps! like we need to be able to appreciate that aspect at least as snooty og resi fans who miss tank controls and fixed cameras so im just so so proud that the modern resi games exist as they do…but again im rambling…

Hey, I'm that one anon from a few weeks back who was pretty skeptical about rats 2, so i thought it would be nice to come back and share how is it going

So first of all, the negatives. Yesterday was the 1st big event of the season and I did not enjoy it too much. The story itself was okay i guess, typical halloween ghost story, but it had the minecraft server - typical problem of some people speaking way too loud and over others. I was watching from Martyn's pov and he had to mute everyone twice bc of the overstimulation, and spent lots of the event in his own or in small groups

Apart from that, honestly pretty happy with the smp? It has returned to the communal vibes of rats 1 instead of dividing everyone im groups, which is great bc it s almost imposible to log in and not meet everyone else who is logged in at the moment. That was one of pirates s worst sins imo. Also, it has small missions for the players to do, which are not that interesting tbh, but they don t take far as much time as the ones in pirates which enable the players to mostly hang out and vibe. Also the whole running away from humans is a very fun premise. The whole concept of the smp is honestly just a reprise of rats 1, which brings the question of if it is really necessary, but by now it s being fun sooo i guess it gets a pass (by now)

The environment is very chaotic, but apart from the event it doesn t usually feel like too much. The one problem is that it distracts the players from actually building lol. Talking about building, they have had lots of technical issues with the chisel and bits mod, so they have changed tl another mod which seems tl be working better, although now the players have to relearn how to build in that size. But ngl, some of them are going crazy with the building, Sniff, Eloise, Scott, Sausage and Ros mainly are CRAZY

About the players, I am only following closely a handful of them, but it s generally being a blast. Having them roleplay as rats is just silly and brings good vibes and bits. My one hot take is that although I think he's a very talented builder, I find Sausage kind of annoying in smps, and also one of the loudest during events, but that's probably a me thing. Apart from him, Tubbo and Ros have done a cult and it's delightful to watch, the Martyn and Ren duo is super fun as expected, Oli is once again the funniest fucker alive, El and Bek are amazing. A creator I didn t know too well until now is Watermunch and she's great, his laugh especially gives me seratonin

So yeah, not everything is great or super interesting but it's fun and chaotic and as much as I bash in pirates, Ros and Water were great aditions to the cast so I am glad it exists. But pleeeease someone tell them to keep calm during moments with lots of people, it's uncomfy for the watchers, some ccs get overwhelmed and others can barely speak. Another problem I ve seen is that a portion of Tubbo s chat keep metagaming, which is annoying af, but whatever ig

I definitely have heard good things about treebark rats (I do think renrat having a wife is the one of. maybe the funniest things to come out of SMPs good god martyn im so. im so sorry martyn) and even though i wasn't a fan of the original i did have fun watching garbage rat clips. That impromptu music number he did with the camera angle changes is like. genuinely high art to me.

also good on martyn for knowing his limits. I can imagine it's a rough choice to make in the moment what with the pressure to perform and whatnot.
