hey guys… we all know that it’s okay for mithrun to have a caretaker for the rest of his life, right? that even after he heals and potentially regains his desires he will probably still need support?? that the goal of healing is not to become a “normal person”, but to build skills to navigate the world in a way that accommodates your disability??? that relying on the people around you is not a failure, but proof of your desire to live????

Make your Whumpee tired.
Whumpees that have been deprived of sleep by Whumper, so much so that they don't remember how to walk in a straight line and can't figure out whether the recent appearance of little black bugs in their cell are real or a hallucination.
Whumpees that can't get a full night's rest. They doze off, only to be jolted awake by their own anxiety of not knowing when Whumper would come back. Perhaps they are awakened by phlegm-coated coughs induced by their illness. They are awakened by nightmares, or by Caregiver who is worried they may succumb to hypothermia, or by a thunderstorm, or the rough blanket scratching their open wounds, or so on.
Whumpees who pull all nighters to protect their friends or lovers.
Whumpees whose eyes burn when they finally can close their eyes. Whumpees whose muscles twitch, who can't stop yawning no matter how hard they try to stifle it. Whumpees with dark, glassy eyes. Whumpees who are slow to react or have a hard time keeping up with the conversation. Whumpees with throbbing headaches. Whumpees with brain fog and memory loss.
Whumpees who have been on the run and have over exhausted their bodies. Their muscles and joints continue to scream long after its over. Whumpees with extensive blood loss. Whumpees who are malnourished.
Whumpees whose survivor's guilt keeps them awake, wondering what they might have done differently, whether it was all their fault, or why they were the ones to live.
Whumpees whose bodies are in chronic pain or illness and who have to hide it, causing muscle and mental fatigue. They keep going with a smile until they collapse or pass out.
Whumpees who break down in tears, begging to be left alone so they can rest. Whumpees who sob when they are told that the bed in front of them is theirs to use whenever they want.

living weapon whumpees who, during the first few months of recovery with caretaker, are foreign to the concept of comfort‼️‼️‼️
have them flinching away from caretaker's soft touch because they believe they don't deserve it‼️‼️‼️
have a caretaker gently massage living weapon whumpee's shoulders, soothing words further adding to whumpee's overall confusion before they eventually lean into caretaker's warm touch‼️‼️‼
have caretaker's soft words and hands holding whumpee's face snap them out of their conditioning after something / someone accidentally triggered them, startled at first before recognizing that, caretaker wasn't a threat, they were safe with them and that whumper wasn't here anymore ‼️‼️‼️

Contents - recovery whump, implied whump, traumatized whumpee
“Do you need anything?”
Whumpee stayed motionless in the corner of the room. Staring at one spot on the ground as if caretaker didn’t say anything. It hasn’t been long since the team rescued them, and they haven’t said a word or looked into any of the teammate’s eyes. Obeying whatever they tell them to do. Whumpee, once with a joyful and talkative personality, was now controlled and silent.
“I promise no one here is going to hurt you,” caretaker continued. That sense of dread building up inside them, seeing whumpee in such a state. “We… We want to help you, whumpee; please, say something…”
Seeing it as a command, whumpee opens their mouth to speak. Instead, a whimpering noise before rolling into a shaky ball and sobbing. All that built up emotion and trauma come spilling out in an ugly mess. It was too much. They wanted it to stop.
Whumpee felt the warm, secure embrace of caretaker's hug. Immediately burying their head inside their chest and sobbing even harder. Caretaker hushed in their ear, making the hug snugger. Seeing whumpee let out such a dire cry... Caretaker will rip whumper apart.
"Shh... It's alright; let it all out. You're never going back to them ever again," caretaker took a determined breath. "I promise you."
Whumpee sniffled, wiping snot away from their nose. Looking up at caretaker--not breaking eye contact this time. Caretaker made sure not to make any sudden movements or noises. It could frighten whumpee away from them again.
"Thank you," whumpee whispered, letting out a small, genuine smile.

whump fic where whumpee is being held captive by whumper and continually tries to escape to find where caretaker is being held so they can get out of here together, but as the story progresses it becomes more clear that whumpee is a victim of stockholm syndrome/brainwashing by "caretaker" and is actually being rehabilitated by "whumper" after being rescued, not kidnapped

Yes, yes, Whumpee being forced to dig their own grave, love it.
Now consider: Whumpee being forced to dig a grave. But it's not for them.
They don't know. Yet. So they get to work, snivelling, sobbing, pleading with every haul of sand they throw over their shoulder.
"Hush now, darling, this is not for you."
Whumpee glances up, tears in their eyes.
"It's for your cellmate," Whumper says with a wicked grin. He brings a finger to his lips. "Don't tell them yet. It's our secret."
Bonus: their cellmate is Caretaker

"Close your eyes."
Said Caretaker to dying whumpee, caressing their hair, trying to make their last moments as peaceful and comfortable as possible.
Said Caretaker to scared Whumpee, holding a knife to Whumper's throat, about to make sure they never lay their hand on Whumpee again but wanting to spare Whumpee from witnessing any more violence.
Said Caretaker to injured Whumpee, cupping their chin and guiding their head up, not letting Whumpee look at the wounds covering their body.
Said Caretaker to sleepy Whumpee, who fears falling asleep because of all the traumatic nightmares they know they'll have, but with Caretaker by their side, whispering all kinds of reassurements, they might be okay.

— i don’t know why i bite
tw : manipulative behavior, minor injuries, dead things as an gifts, major injuries, barn and farm inaccuracies, implied death.
yandere!caretaker x monster!reader/you
Tumblr media
Yandere! Caretaker who lives on a farm and harvested a couple of corn cobs for side dishes and notices a trail of blood in their barn.
Yandere! Caretaker who finds you injured curled up in the hayloft, surrounded by hay and manages to catch you despite your claws scratching them and biting them.
Yandere! Caretaker who immediately puts you in a metal tub to wash you and tries to put a muzzle on you to stop you from biting them.
“Watch it!” They grumbled. “I’m trying to help you.”
Rolling up their flannel patterned sleeves, holding a simple hose and different types of shampoo bottles to see which one would work better.
They filled up the metal tub but you had other plans and scurried out of the tub. Trembling and immediately curled up in a ball, your clawed hands still desperately tried to tear off the muzzle.
Yandere! Caretaker who still searches up methods to gain your trust and carefully dressed your wounds.
Yandere! Caretaker who buys equipment to take off the matted fur/matted feathers if you weren’t able to preen them due to your state.
Yandere! Caretaker who tries to figure out what type of food that you’ll eat and makes sure that you get daily meals.
Your face had been buried in the fresh bowl of meals rather than leisurely being sprawled in the hayloft surrounded in a bed of hay. You finished eating and dug your nails in the wooden poles climbing up into the hayloft, blood filled your mouth and hearing the familiar boots hitting the gray concrete.
They watched you climb down and saw the blood dribbling down your skin which immediately caused them to pace towards you with a first aid kit. A dead rat was spat out from your mouth onto the concrete floor.
“You got me worried.” They wiped the blood from your mouth. “Don’t scare me like that. Is this a gift for me?”
The corners of their lips formed into a smile when you purred/chirped in response as you climbed up the wooden poles to the hayloft and buried yourself in the hay.
Yandere! Caretaker who ‘upgraded’ your living space from the barn to their farmhouse and has to bandage up their own injuries but they weren’t as deep now; progress.
Yandere! Caretaker who increasingly grows protective of you after you curled up next to them and they noticed a collar around your neck that they somehow hadn’t seen before.
Yandere! Caretaker who begrudgingly contacts the number on the back of the collar after doubt sets in as they look at you, somehow sleeping on the tiny couch and immediately hangs up after a single hello from the other line.
Yandere! Caretaker who throws away the collar and goes back to the couch where you’re still sprawled on and slowly wakes you up to treat the infection from the collar.
Your claws scratched the doorframe of upstairs, hanging upside down and occasionally gnawing on the top of the frame.
“Get down from there. You’ll get hurt,” they said. “Your breakfast is almost done.”
They knew that noise of you climbing down the doorframe and still struggling down the stairs. Hearing the knock on the spring door and leaving the pan on the counter to see a well dressed duo on the other side of the door, they walked to the spring door and took one foot out.
“Can I help you two?” They asked.
“You have what’s ours,”one said. “It escaped and we tracked it down here. Hand it over and we will be on our way.”
“You must be in the wrong place.” They crossed their arms. “You both should go back on your way and leave.”
A familiar purr/chirp echoed throughout the silent farmhouse that made their heart drop.
Yandere! Caretaker who isn’t afraid of getting their hands dirty if it means to protect you and finds your trembling form poorly hidden and tries desperately to calm you down because they hate to see you in pain.
Yandere! Caretaker who slowly spoils you to make it up for the bloodshed but you seem to refuse every time which slowly chips away at them; were you starting to be ungrateful?
Your gaze stuck on the outside, bright blue sky rather than the stuffy farmhouse that seemed to grow smaller and smaller with each day that passed. Perhaps they would like a gift for a farewell? You left a small mouse on the counter, it didn’t move as it just lied on its side.
The fresh breeze against the clean body and you started to move further and further away from the farmhouse. It bloomed with a unrecognizable sting as it wasn’t the familiar pain that always embedded itself into you but it was freeing; better than—
A loud ringing echoed throughout your head, guttural cries escaped your lips. Your face buried in the fresh grass, it hurt to breathe, a familiar scent came in. Through your blurred vision, you saw the intricate designs on the boots that belong to them, your claws desperately grabbed the lower pant leg but failed and grabbed the dirt instead.
“You’re hurt,” they said. “Let’s get you inside now. I’ll patch you up and you will be good as new.”
They meticulously moved you back inside and back onto the familiar comfort of the small couch yet the trembling continues throughout your body, desperately clinging to their warmth. Your face buried in their abdomen, a familiar soft purring/chirping escaped your mouth.
“I don’t know what I would do without you.” They cleaned the dirt from underneath your nails, wrapped and cleaned the wound on your back. “Stay here with me and I’ll care for you.”

(Content warnings: Burning alive, implied death, immortal whumpee)
Everything thinks Whumpee is dead, but they're just in a heavily/magically induced sleep. Whumpee's friends decide to cremate their body. Whumpee wakes up in the chamber they're being burned in and scream to get out, pounding on the case.
Bonus points if they have some form of immortality and they are unable to die, just going through it until Whumpee's friends realize what happened. The trust there is forever strained.

caretaker wasn’t supposed to be doing this, they weren’t a caretaker, and surely whumpee is capable of taking care of themselves, right? surely they’re old enough, so why does caretaker need to be there? they hate it, waking up every morning to an overly excited whumpee rambling about their dreams, they make breakfast and attempt to tune out of the annoying endless chatter, and they spend their evenings praying to everything above that whumpee would just go to bed-
until one day whumpee’s gone. they dropped them off at school without a word, watched them as they happily waved them off before turning to their friends. but now they’re gone, they’re not waiting in that same spot out of the school, there’s no sight of them or their backpack riddled with dozens of cute keychains and pins. caretaker jumps out of their car, heads towards the friends they pretended not to notice, demanding to know where their charge is. the shrugs tell them nothing, so they go home.
maybe whumpee will show up later, the peace and quiet will be nice after all.
a few hours pass, and caretaker cooks them a meal for when they’re home.
they watch the clock tick by and pass their favourite channel as they scroll through the tv, their show is on.
whumpee never comes home, and soon they’re at the police station. the police call them a few days later, and all caretaker hears is “i’m sorry- kidnapped-“
caretaker waits in the silence, they cook two meals every night in case whumpee comes strolling through that door with their giddy smile and endless stories, they save their show so they can catch up, and they practice their “i don’t care about you, but don’t do that again” lecture.
it’s months before caretaker gets the call, and this time the only word they hear is “hospital”
caretaker isn’t worried, or angry or scared, not by whumpee’s pale, bruised face, the frail form or the scars that peak out from the covers. caretaker doesn’t care- and they’re not crying from relief, they’re not gripping their hand tightly as they thank every god above, because whumpee is nothing more than an inconvenience-
whumpee is so small now, they shake and stutter, and the small smiles they manage don’t reach their eyes. when they’re home, whumpee doesn’t talk, not really, they answer caretakers questions and they mumble a shaky thank you when they’re given food, but they don’t ramble. not like they used to.
and caretaker finds themselves filling in the silence, sat on the couch talking and talking, about what whumpee’s missed, their friends and hell- even caretaker’s friends. they hand them the remote to watch their show and they tuck them in at night, and they pray that one day whumpee will smile again, perhaps wake them with that annoyingly cheerful “morning caretaker!” once more, or even just talk about the meaningless things in their life.
the whumpee they let crawl into their bed after they wake up screaming, the whumpee that hides behind them in front of strangers, the whumpee that quietly asks them questions isn’t their whumpee. and all caretaker can think is that if they’d just listened; payed a little more attention to their endless stream of words, their whumpee would be here.

Whumpuary 2024 Day 14
14. (Jan 27-28) Flinching / Breakdown / Sleep Deprivation
cw past trauma, implied noncon/torture, hurt/comfort, aftermath of whump
“You’re slower than usual,” Hero teased when they pinned Villain to the wall. “Lost your edge after that little vacation you took?”
Villain was breathing heavily. Their hands grasped at Hero’s, which were fisted in the front of their suit, but Villain lacked their typical strength. “Wasn’t a vacation, you jerk,” they huffed. “And I’m doing my best here.”
Hero pulled one of their hands back, and their heart jumped when Villain flinched away from them; they’d never reacted like that before. The instinctual fear was clearly visible in their eyes.
“Whoa, hey,” Hero said softly. “I was just gonna—your mask is slipping.”
Villain looked down, frowning. “Sorry. I just...go ahead.”
Hero raised their hands slowly and adjusted Villain’s mask, noting the sharp intake of breath when Hero’s fingers grazed their cheek. As they put it back in place, Hero could see a dark bruise hiding under the mask. The slightest bit of purple spread up their cheekbone.
Villain was trembling when Hero stepped back.
“Are you okay?” Hero asked. Logically, they knew they should take advantage of Villain’s weakness and bring them in. But they just couldn’t bring themself to be that cruel.
“When I was gone this week,” Villain whispered, “I was...Supervillain took me hostage. I’ll spare you the details but...they did some shit to me I wouldn’t even do to my enemies.”
Hero felt their heart ache at the admission and the pained expression in Villain’s eyes when they looked back up. “I’m sorry, I—I had no idea.”
“Not your fault,” Villain said with a shrug. They tried to force a smile as well, but it didn’t quite work. “But it messed me up pretty good. I can’t sleep. I can’t move without remembering their hands on me.”
A sick feeling curled in Hero’s stomach as they imagined what the normally collected Villain must have been through to have them on the verge of tears at the memory. They slowly reached out, giving Villain enough time to stop them—but when they didn’t, Hero pulled them into an embrace. “It’s over,” they muttered into Villain’s hair. “You're safe now.”
Their words seemed to open the floodgates, and suddenly Villain broke down. Hero didn’t know what to do, so they just held their nemesis as they cried. The fact that they’d been in the middle of a fight passed through Hero’s mind, but it didn’t matter now. They were a herotheir job was to help people. Even if those people regularly made their life hell.
“I’m sorry,” Villain choked out. “This is pathetic. And I—I deserved it.”
“No one deserves to be hurt like that,” Hero said, rubbing their back in soothing circles.
Villain tried to steady their breathing as they looked up at Hero, eyes glistening with tears. “Thank you. Just—give me a minute, and we can get back to it.”
“What do you say we get a rain check,” Hero asked with a small smile, “and you let me buy you a coffee instead?”
Villain sniffled and rolled their eyes. “As long as you promise to reschedule. Because I was looking forward to kicking your ass.”
Hero laughed. “Okay, deal.”
Although the coffee may not have truly fixed anything, it was a welcomed comfort.

Merry Whumpmas 2023 Day 30: Sweating
TW: fever, delirious, past abuse/whump
Whumpee shook their head and mumbled something unintelligible as Caretaker placed the cool, damp cloth on their forehead. Their eyes were half-open but glazed over, their skin slick with sweat. “No…” they muttered, “no!”
“It’s okay…” Caretaker soothed, placing another cloth on the back of Whumpee’s neck. “You got a pretty bad fever, but it’ll be okay, I’m here.”
Whumpee’s eyes flicked about the room, but they showed no sign of hearing or understanding their words. “...Whumper…” they whispered, almost fearfully.
Caretaker stiffened. “Whumper’s not here,” they said hurriedly, touching Whumpee’s hand in reassurance, “It’s just me.”
Whumpee shook their head. “No, please! I’ll be good, I promise!”
Caretaker froze. “Aw, hell….”
“...please…” Whumpee mumbled, closing their eyes. Tears began to drip from underneath the closed lids. “Please… please stop…”
Caretaker intertwined their fingers with Whumpee’s. “Whumper can’t hurt you anymore, okay?” They whispered, still unsure if Whumpee could understand them. “I won’t let them. You hear that? I won’t let them hurt you.”

A whump trope that I was obsessed with as a child (and still am): caretaker losing control/going berserk and whumpee coming to the rescue to calm them down!! <3
Whumpee is either a monster, shapeshifter, or some sort of species, caretaker is preferably human but could be of the same species or different.
Whumpee is angered by whumper; whumpee being threatened and caretaker losing their shit!! Whumpee has to calm them down before they destroy everything!! <33
This may be a little cliche but it gives me so much whumperflies.

we need more language barriers in whump because it's so fucking good no matter if you use it for whumper and whumpee or whumpee and caretaker or especially carewhumper and whumpee or any combination!!!!
Whumpee not being able to know what the fuck is going on no matter how many times they ask, only being manhandled into various situations because they don't understand how to comply with whatever is being told to them (gently or not is up to you >:3c)
Having to rely on tones and facial expressions to get a vague sense of what the other person is trying to get across, despite all the repetition of sounds and slow pronunciations and childish gesturing
Those little moments where a word just finally clicks for someone, the one piece of common ground, even if they can't fully repeat it back due to an accent that maybe earns them an amused chuckle or a scowl
Endless frustration and exploding so many pent up feelings for a rant that falls on deaf ears, because why is this so hard to comprehend, why can't you just understand my words, why do I feel like such a fucking idiot??? And what do they get in return? Silence...or more foreign gibberish.
Not bothering to keep quiet about their thoughts, agreeable or otherwise, vulgar or polite -- what does it matter? No one is going to understand a lick of it, they can say whatever the hell they want (unless maybe someone does catch a couple words or phrases hmmm)
Whumpers using sweet coos and nice smiles while saying the most awful shit. Caretakers being endlessly patient in trying to foster some kind of trust and feasible communication. Carewhumpers being stern and hands on because there's no time to waste in getting Whumpee to grasp what they need from them.
The longer they're in each others company, the more quirks and micro expressions they start to pick up, long before they ever fully understand a word of what's being said, including when someone is lying or when a nerve has been struck
Realizing which words mean "bad thing" and which words mean "good thing"
