Raven's semblance is so telling about her character
the facade of the tough disaffected bandit leader crumbles completely under it - it's bonds to people she cares about. it's hard to pretend like she doesn't care when her literal superpower is defined by how much she does
but you can read deeper than that - cos it's defined by those bonds, you have to wonder about the original utility of that power was; what in Raven specifically led her to develop Kindred Link as a Semblance - to be able to open a portal to someone she cares about anywhere in the world? not necessarily the reasons why and how she uses it, but why it manifested like that
was it a desire to protect? a plea for safety?
or a cry for help?

How about a scenario where Raven shows up just before Ruby drinks the tea and saves her
[Raven roughly seizes Ruby's arm and lifts her in the air, just out of reach of the tea]
Raven - Don'tyou….DARE
Ruby - [expresses a moment of shock as she tries to judge whether Raven was real or not before she decided she didnt care] NO ! [struggles] I'm going to get everyone KILLED !
Raven - No ! [Pulls Ruby close as she thrashed, her nails digging into Raven's arms] You're NOT
[Ruby kicks the tea over in her thrashing]
Ruby - I'm not ENOUGH ! They need more than me , I'm ….
Raven - [voice softens] Perfect just the way you are
[Ruby stops and looks up]
Raven - This is an IMPOSSIBLE situation. It needed someone to step up and help, and you did. You've done more than most
Ruby - But I'm failing…..
Raven - Ruby…. [spins her around and grabs her by the shoulders, leaning over a little] It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That's not a weakness. That's life [stands up] You chose to defend people who had no one else. That's nothing to be ashamed of
[Ruby sniffles and wipes her eyes as Yang runs up to them and takes Ruby from Raven]

Law and Crime: Criminal- Mafia AU
How would the Branwen Mafia Head herself Raven deal with a woman named Summer getting too close to "her man" Tai?
"Tyrian will take 'care' of the red-haired whore." Raven replied in a icily calm voice, red eyes narrowed in a sharp glare.

Not Yet
A police officer stops a car driving erratically in the middle of night in the streets of Vale. He approaches the vehicle as the driver proceeded to roll the window down.
Officer: "Sir, have you been drinking tonight?"
We see a nineteen year old Qrow in the drivers seat, and a beer can materializes in his hands as he cracks it open in front of the officers face.
Qrow: "Not yet Officer."
The officer stares blankly at the now opened beer can, before he calmly addressed Qrow.
Officer: "...Sir, I'm going to need you to step out of the car."
Taiyang, who was sitting in the passenger seat and doing his best to tend to over a thoroughly drunken Summer and Raven, both of whom were black, blue, and red all over after being goaded into a Branwen "Claim" match over Tai by Qrow(not that Tai knew it at the time) could only balk in horror before palming his face in annoyance.
Tai: "GOD DAMNIT QROW!"
Twentyish years later...
A police officer stops a car driving erraticly in the middle of the night in the streets of Argus. He approaches the vehicle as the driver proceeded to roll the window down.
Officer: "Sir, have you been drinking tonight?"
We see a now fully grown Qrow in the drivers seat, and a beer can materializes in his hands as he cracks it open in front of the officers face.
Qrow: "Not yet Officer."
The officer stares blankly at the now opened beer can, before he calmly addressed Qrow.
Officer: "...Sir, I'm going to need you to step out of the car."
Jaune Arc, who was sitting in the passenger seat and doing his best to tend to over a thoroughly drunken Ruby and Yang, both of whom were black, blue, and red all over after being goaded into a Branwen "Claim" match over Jaune by Qrow(though Jaune very much knew, and could only watch in shock and horror at the savage beating the two gave each other) could only balk in horror before palming his face in annoyance.
Jaune: "GOD DAMNIT QROW!"

ok your choice ruby find qrow her dad or she rose bird baby cause sumemr trnas owman d raven give brith to her headcanon ruby as wholt tai lcaue summer a wholf wfuanse but that otpal
(I know this wasnt your intent, but enjoy)
Ruby stayed still on her tree branch as she watched a group of huntresses in training set up camp in her forest with one of their professors nearby, keeping an eye on them. A frown crossed her lips as she drew her sword, ready to strike until her mother’s words echoed through her mind: “*Do not strike unless you’re sure you’ll win the fight.*” She slowly sheathed her sword again and started to make her way back to the bandit camp, nervous about why any huntresses would make their way out this far into bandit territory. None of her tribe had gone on any raids recently, so catching any of the academy’s eyes wasnt likely, and as far as she was aware, there hadnt been any rumor around the nearby villages about grimm getting restless or anyone that was missing, and unless it was coincidence for those huntresses to be nearby, there wasnt any any other reason she could think of as to why any of them would be out this far from the kingdom. Well, she did figure that the Schnee heiress probably had her own reasons to be out there to find dust to exploit in the future, not that there wasnt much left for her family to take in this part of the forest.
She paused as one of the branches creaked as she took a step, keeping out of sight as she heard the huntsman overseeing the huntresses in training grab his weapon. Ruby slowly turned to watch them, snapping off a small twig from a branch, getting ready to toss it to get them away from her.
“Hear something, Professor?” the Schnee heiress asked.
“Doctor,” the huntsman answered as he looked around. “And I thought I heard something in the trees. It’ll be best to keep a lookout for any grimm that may want to catch us off guard.”
The girl with the bow in her hair quickly drew her sword, glancing to the treetops. “There’s worse things than grimm out here. Bandits, thieves, rogue huntsmen… we should move camp to somewhere a little less open.”
“If you can find a cave, that might give us a bit more cover in case anyone shows up,” the blonde, a girl Ruby recognized as Raven’s other daughter, Yang, answered. “Though, Doctor Oobleck did tell us we wouldnt find much out here for shelter.”
“That is correct, Miss Xiao Long,” Doctor Oobleck answered. “We’ll have to rough it out, but that doesnt mean we have to do things the hard way. Miss Belladonna, please see if you can scout out another clearing that’s a little less open. If you cant find anything, then we’ll need to find some fallen logs to help give us a little protection from anyone that might come around. Miss Schnee, Miss Xiao Long, I need you both to walk around the perimeter of camp to see if there’s anything besides grimm watching us. I’ll guard camp, but keep an ear out for anything you miss. If everything goes well, we might be able to finally find Ruby, assuming the intel we have is correct and not leading us into a trap.”
Ruby took a step back on the branch she stood on, arms shaking as she tried to hold her balance in the tree. It had to be a different Ruby, right? She hadnt done anything to warrant any attention from huntsmen, much less anything that huntresses in training would be after. She froze as she heard the branch shake once more and a small *snap* come from it. She froze as she felt the branch start to shake and give a little from under her, trying to keep out of sight from Oobleck. Once she was sure Oobleck wasnt noticing her, she started to go walk again, carefully using another branch to take her weight off the current one and make her way back to the bandit camp.
Her heart continued to pound in her chest as she made her way back into camp, her mind racing with questions as she snuck in through a hole in the fence around the camp, trying to keep Raven from noticing she had left. As she slipped through the tents to her own, she paused at Raven’s for a moment, looking at the tent flaps that had been tied to lock it up. For a moment, Ruby had wanted to try to get in, just to look to see what her mother had to hide.
“Where were you?”
Ruby quickly turned around to find Raven behind her. “M-mother! I was here the whole time.”
“I know you werent,” Raven said. “Now, where were you?”
“I-” Ruby sighed and looked away. “I was out hunting, but I think… I think there’s someone looking for me.”
“Someone looking for you?”
“There’s a few huntresses in training and a huntsman out in the woods. They’re… they’re following a few rumors, but I heard them say my name.”
Raven sighed and went to her tent to start untying the rope that kept the opening closed. “You should ignore them.”
“But one of them was Yang!”
Raven paused for a moment and turned to look at Ruby. “Yang is out there? Looking for you?”
“Yeah. Along with a few people I assume are her team.”
“Her father probably told her tales of your mother and must’ve mentioned you along with it.”
“Yeah, but… you’re my mother. Why would mentioning you to her make her want to look for me?”
Raven sighed and started to walk into her tent. “Because I’m not your only parent, and not the one that gave birth to you. When Summer left, I promised to keep you safe and out of sight from those that would want to hurt you or lose you. So there’s no doubt that your father told her about Summer and then mentioned you as her sister. If that’s the case, then we need to leave.”
“Leave?” Ruby asked. “And what will leaving do? If Yang’s looking for me, then she’ll keep looking-”
“And she’ll get hurt or die trying. I know how this story goes.”
“Then why run? We can go to her now and tell her to stop-”
“And then she’ll continue looking for you until she can bring you back home.” Raven pinched the bridge of her nose and took a deep breath. “Tomorrow morning I’ll tell you why I left with you. But for today, I need you to stay here and out of sight from Yang and the group she’s with. If they’re looking for you, then they know you’re here. So no more visiting villages. Got it?”
“I havent-” Ruby paused when she saw Raven glare at her and sighed. “R-right, no more visiting villages.”
Raven relaxed and put a gentle hand to Ruby’s cheek. “I want to keep you safe, just like the rest of the tribe. So please, just this once, listen to me and stay here. There are worse things than grimm out here and I dont want you to end up on their sights.”

Prof. Xiao-Long AU Concept
Note this one is way longer since it did in fact win the polls
Yang Xiao freaking Long was just what her name would suggest XL, bigger then life, the center of attention and life of the party! She was arguably the toughest gal to step through Beacon’s doors. At worst she was tied with her partner Glyn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They were the strongest duo, Glynda’s ability to bullshit just about everything with her telekinesis and Yang packing enough raw strength to shatter boulders with just a punch. Heck, they were the two time Vytal Festival Winners of Beacon’s Golden era, Even STRQ came second to them.
And that team had her brother Taiyang in it, okay, true it did have the clearance sell, looking knock off of her too, Raven definitely dragged them down… No, she was not pissed at the bandit at all, nope, not a single inch of rage for abandoning her team, leaving her brother broken hearted, she totally didn’t spend months tracking her down and wrecking every member of the Branwen tribe’s shit that she could.
Well regardless she’d gotten over that who issue with her brother’s team, graduated, spent a few years living the dream, journeying around Remnant, helping people, exploring, just outright enjoying freedom. Life had been good. But eventually she got bored of it, bored of it, turns out Yang wasn’t for the lone wanderer shtick, didn’t live up to the hype…
It got lonely, and then her brothers wife died… Summer, Summer disappeared and Tai went into a depression. him remaining teammate Qrow tried, but he could only do so much, and she knew he was avoiding spending a lot of time with them cuz of his semblance the idiot. So she made her decision without hesitation, Yang starting crashing at her brother’s place and helping him with Ruby while beating the depression outta him.
And thankfully Glyn had a job she could work, a Professor at Beacon, she tried to get one at Signal but in her partner’s own words “That School already has to Suffer One Xiao-Long, why would you curse them with two.” And hence begun her domestic life as the stand-in mom for her adorable silver-eyed niece. And Yang realized she was freaking Maternal has all hell! Like Whoa, the amount of times people assumed she was Rube’s mom was scary, and not just cuz it implied she was banging her brother.
And hey, she was a pretty great teacher too, sure she was really more a couch, and every once in a blue mom stand in for Port but hey when she did the students were a heck of a lot more invested in her telling them about her past glory. It had nothing to do with her love of high cut tee’s she swore, she was just that charismatic.
Life was good…
-0-0-0-
LIFE WAS NOT GOOD!!!! She Was Gonna Murder Thos Little Turds! Few Things were as precious to Yang as her hair, and they, her students had abused her trust! She could understand a pulling pranks, heck she still pulled them on her fellow teachers. But The Fuck! CUT SOMEONE HAIR WHEN THEY SLEPT!!!
Beacon was starting up in several weeks! And she was gonna have to show her face now! With her hair like this!
Oh She Wasn’t Fooled For A Fucking Second!!!
This Had Bitch Written All Over It! It had to be those girls who’d been giving her the stink eyed just cuz the boys she taught couldn’t pull their eyes off their bombshell of a teacher! Or Maybe it was one of those douchebag students she put in their place when she caught them claiming they’d bed her.
The fact of the matter was she didn’t technically have concrete evidence of who it was, all she did know was when she went to bed she was fine and when she woke up she felt horrifyingly light. Her beautiful locks of golden magnificent hair scattered across the ground. All she saw after that was red, too bad her partner was there otherwise she could’ve slaughtered the perpetrator, true she would’ve ended up killing a few innocent students, but sometimes sacrifices had to be made for the greater good, and were they really innocent if they just sat there and let such a tragedy happen!
Tumblr media
They were lucky her partner Glynda was there to restrain her with several dozen times gravity being forced down upon her. And now here she was in Vale, already on her fourth group of A-Grade assholes clobbered for trying to pick up a red-eyed and incredibly pissed off Yang.
She stopped before it, a salon, one Ozpin had recommended, and one whose life and current state of function was on the line. Because if even an inch more of her remaining beautiful hair was ruined there would be hell to pay.
On the plus side they all seemed to know who she was, a negative is that that also meant every stylist was hesitant to do said firey dragon’s hair. She couldn’t blame them but if someone didn’t hike up their skirt and do something soon she’d-
“Ma’am, th-this way please, our new hire offered to do you hair.” Her eye twitched, a new hire, what the hell, she was ready to tear into him before a voice cut in.
“Hey can you calm down please, your kinda scaring everyone.” She blinked before looking up and meeting eyes with a fellow blonde. A guy around her student’s age, one who was standing up, facing her down with a stern look.
Your scaring the kids her with their parents, she noticed that in fact he was right as she saw some kids looking at her and backing away. And… She suddenly felt terrible. And when she went lack she heard it, a relieved exhale leave her fellow blonde, looking his way she met the boy’s gaze and felt a bit embarrassed.  Leave it to her to go and get worked up and have a kid around her niece age tell her off.
The boy examined her, or to be more precise her hair and she saw his eyes narrow with recognition.
Tumblr media
“Prank gone wrong?” She growled.
“No, I think it went just how those little shits wanted it to.” He blinked before shaking his head.
“Well then guess they could count their lucky stars they didn’t do that to a sister of mine or they wouldn’t live to regret it.” That made her smile.
“Oh trust me, I intend to do just that.” The blonde chuckled, shaking his head.
“Well hopefully not with your hair like that you won’t, kinda hard to instill fear in them while their laughing at the result of their prank. C’mon, let’s fix that.” Turning her made his way to a chair, expecting her to follow as he walked confidently to it. She blinked again, well, the new guy was definitely interesting, few people had it in them to sass her while her hair was so much as touched let alone ruined like this.
“Hey you just gonna stand there and gawk or do you want me to fix your hair.” She couldn’t help it, nobody talked about touching her hair.
“If you mess it up I’ll mess you up blondie.” Instead of the usual whimper or retreat the blonde boy… smiled?
“’Snort’ You sound just like my sis Beryl, relax, I have experience with styling long, blonde fine hair okay, your in good hands.” She rose brow, but slowly started to make her way to him. Noticing a picture of a boy and seven girls stuck up in his station.
“Whoa, is that you with all your cousins or something?” He laughed.
“Sisters actually, and I’ve done each of their hairs more times then I can count.” Okay, she was willing to risk it, at the very least the kid had experience. So she plopped herself down and let him do his magic… Okay so she might’ve had to stop herself once or twice from decking him when he touched her hair.
But hey his small talk took her mind off it, heck she only threatened him once when he pulled out the clippers. The boy seemed totally in his element. They talked about tons while he worked his magic, washing, shampooing and clipping her hair.
Eventually she begun asking how long he’d been doing this, she was surprised when he admitted this was his third and last week at the place. Something about needing extra money and having picked up several jobs before he hopefully got into his dream school. She couldn’t get much more details outta him, the boy was very cagey about it.
Finally thought he moment of truth came out and she saw… A pretty good looking cut, a bit shooter then what she’d come in with but not bad. In fact she was sorta digging it! Huh? Who’d’ve thought she could pull off a short due just as epically as she could a long one.
Tumblr media
She grinned the boys way, walked up to him and gave him a full on huge, lifting the blonde up in the air as she did. And suddenly he went from her confident sassy groomer to a flustered, confused mess of a teen as socially awkward as her own niece.
It was honestly kinda endearing, guess he was the sort who just got in the zone when it came to doing their job. Well not like she was gonna complain he was so freaking expressive now it was actually kinda hilarious not to mention a bit adorable. She teased him once or twice, and got the boy to fluster pretty bad before she gave him a big fat tip that hit the triple digits. Hey her hair was a treasure, he earned it in her not so humble opinion.
And so she walked out and made her way back to Beacon, all smiles and snark as usual, much to her fellow staffs relief… Until the next day. Where she realized she couldn’t style her hair the exact way the guy had! Made sense, she never had short hair after all!
She made a mad dash back to that salon… Only to find out he wasn’t working there anymore… WHAT!? She had to all but threaten the boy’s name outta the manager! Yes! She threatened a civilian, but this was important! And she got exactly what she needed, a name.
Jaune Arc.
She rushed to Juniors, needing to use Vale’s best info broker to find out the single most important information in the entire kingdom… Why the hell did he go on about Torchwick and White Fang when she said that. Obviously the info she meant was on the blonde stylist!
He blinked at her, and then asked about the name again… Then went pale. And then called Jaune over, apparently one of the jobs he was working also happened to be here as a bartender. One look at her and he flustered going all red face… Yeah, she did dress up, she was in a club after all, had to look good. Glad to see she still had it, not that it was ever up for debate.
Anyways she had him now, made her demand had him promise to teach her how to do her hair, and until then would have him do it. She’d pay him obviously, she wasn’t a monster, and a guy who could actually style her glorious hair was worth his weight in gold.
He told her she’d have to wait till his break, she was about to drag him off as her waiting simply wasn’t a option, until he offered to give her a free drink, a thanks for the huge tip she gave him yesterday. Well, she was already in Vale so why not… And again he shocked her!
Seriously what had she been drinking up until this point? Cuz it sure as hell wasn’t a Strawberry Sunsrise compared to the one he served her. She was about to ask, but he seemed to pick up on her question and gave the answer of ‘Seven sisters’ which just sorta answered it, guess a few of them liked drinks.
And he was back to being mister focused on his craft, sassy and cool as a cucumber… She just had to mess with him. Wasn’t hard, just a little shake here, a suggestive pun there and a wink or two and the boy went cherry red.
It was the best time she had out in a good minute, and then slowly, things started to relax and she fell into that age old troupe of shooting the breeze her the bartender. Talking about her brother and niece who’d get into Beacon this year and how freaking proud of her she was.
Tumblr media
It was great, fun, and she was… tipsy, so maybe when his break came around she chose to drag him to the dance floor for some fun instead of out to do her hair… And once again he surprised her with another skill of his. Jaune Arc, could dance.
He even dared suggest he was better then her… the nerve. She had to prove to him wrong, she just had to. So they spent his whole break dancing, drinking, laughing and just having fun, and one stink eye from her and Junior let her new young buddy take the rest of the night off.
And then everything went dark and she woke up in a bed, naked… Oh no.
Then she realized thank Oum there was no blonde boy right by her, instead her Scroll had a message, saying how he’d taken her to one of junior’s rooms to rest after she’d gotten wasted. And how he swore he left the room when she started to strip…
Yeah, that sounded like her when she got three sheets to the wind, he also sent her a message about how to do her hair. She asked Junior about the blonde but the guy insisted he was just a temporary hire.

Well, it was time her baby niece’s first day was upon them! It took everything she had not to charge up grab little ruby up in a huge and completely embarrass her in front of everyone of her potential classmates.
Yang might’ve been wary of Ozpin when he first suggested it but still, she was aiming to enjoy this, to watch her niece, thrive in Beacon, to make a name for herself and have the best experience she cou- And she exploded…
Then some little white haired bitch started hounding her niece! She readied to walk up there and clobber the uppity brat. But before she could the spoiled brat left when some other goth looking chick got in the way. The black themed kid left too, leaving her poor niece all alone looking miserable!
She readied to make way only for the last person she expected to show up.
“Jaune?”
Tumblr media
-0-0-0-
She stood with Ozzy and Glyn watching things go down in the emerald forest, watching her niece having the misfortune of teaming up with the bratty Schnee. But there was also someone else who interested her, Jaune Arc, AKA her personal stylist, bartender and clubbing escort to be the next four years of Beacon.
What could she say, the kid was a man of many talents that she very much appreciated. She’d looked his files over, and yep… Guy had fake transcripts, so that’s why he needed all that extra scratch. Still though, considering they had a ex-terrorist in their roster this year she couldn’t view it too negatively, heck Qrow had been a freaking bandit.
Also, the kid really wanted this, I mean guy let Ozzy launch him into the forest… without aura! Yeah that was a shocker, the fact the kid was even willing to fight Grimm with having aura much less knowing what it was spoke volumes to his bravery, stupidity too yes, but mostly bravery. And hey, when the cereal girl herself unlocked it turned out he had a bunch.
Yep this year was shaping up to be a interesting one.
-0-0-0-
Glynda didn’t know what to think of how Yang was acting, given she rarely knew what to do when it came to said brawler, but moreso today the usual, Yang was acting quite perplexing, well more then usual. Focusing on miss Rose she could understand, the woman all but raised the silver-eyed warrior after all. But her interest also seemed to focus on a second individual as well.
Mister Arc, a student she still had doubts about, but who also seemed to gain her partners attention, she sighed for the poor student. She didn’t wish her partner’s teasing on anyone, much less a seemingly easy to fluster first year like him.
Oh well, she supposed sacrifices had to be made for the greater good, a happy or at the very least entertained Xiao-Long mean much less collateral damage for the school and free time for herself. Perhaps she could offer him a bit of favoritism for such a burden, he did have a lot of aura, she supposed she could give him advise on control of it, he’d need it in case her partner ever tried to spare with the poor thing after all.
-0-0-0-
Okay, this was not good, Yang had not expected Jaune to be in Beacon, much less for him to befriend her precious niece and be such good friends with her… What was this kid? He could, do hair, make drinks, dance and could even be a reliable man when the chips were down if him turning back to help against the Deathstalker was any indication.
Seriously, the kid didn’t even have aura for a full hour and yet he turned to face a grimm most huntsman would think twice about facing much less potential first years. And all for some strangers… Yep she didn’t care if his transcripts were real or not, Jaune earned his place in the school with that bit of bravery there.
She nearly laughed when he was declared leader of his team, not cause it was funny, kid was the obvious choose, he was quick the decide, enact and didn’t hesitate. Hell, he had no actual training and yet when the chips were down he lead three people he didn’t even know the name of into battle.
Ozpin would have to be blind not to pick him, at the after party she made her way right to him ready to tease him to high heaven. But instead caught him talking to one of his sisters, well her her wife and… And. AND THE MOST ADORBLE THING SHE’D SEEN SINCE BABY RUBY!!!
Apparently, it was his nephew Adrian! So yeah she sorta cut in and got involved, talked to his sister, baby talked his cute nephew and informed said sister that her little brother was on the fast track to being a kick butt huntsman. What? you didn’t it so many checkmarks with her and not get a few benefits for it. Yang Xiao-Long was the kinda teacher who definitely played favorites, and Jaune Arc was certainly one of them.
-0-0-0-
Yang did not know what to do… Well, that wasn’t true, she knew exactly what she wanted to do, or to be more specific… Who.
How had it come to this!? Seriously, she just didn’t know what to do… Okay, maybe she should back up a sec and explain. So she, Yang Xiao-Long, Huntress extraordinaire, hottest teacher in Beacon (Okay… Maybe Glynda and her were tied) was lowkey crushing on one of her students…
No! It was not Blake! She didn’t get why Port assumed that? Nope, she had found herself thinking of and gioving extra attention to Jaune, yep, Jaune, mister fake it till he made it. HE JUST CHECKED OFF ALL THE THINGS SHE WAS LOOKING FOR IN A GUY!!!
Yeah, she was surprised too, as it turned out, you didn’t need to be a huge giant of muscles like Yatsuhashi or that transfer student Sage. Nope, lean was good too, maybe not Lie Ren lean but a nice in-between. And Jaune Arc hit that sweet spot, heck he was decently built even before Beacon, it was just more like a farmboy than a actual knight. But now, ‘heh’ Yang very much approved his teammate Nora’s insistence on weightlifting.
He was blonde! Which yeah maybe that wasn’t strictly necessary for him to catch her eyes but it didn’t hurt. He got along with her niece, heck he was her first friend in Beacon. And he was brave, something she knew when he turned back to help his team against that Deathstalker during his Initiation.
He proved it again though about a month later when he saved Cardin Winchester against a Ursa Major, now that said a lot about him. While his team ran for their lives Jaune stood his ground and fought to save his bully… the threatened him to not mess with his friends… Yeah, that was when she realized he was on her radar.
More then that he checked off things she didn’t even know she was looking for a guy, he was good with hair (though not his own if that mop of blonde was any indication), dancing drinks, And Oh My God Cooking! The Boy Could Cook! Again Thank Oum For His Sisters and Mom For Forcing Him To Learn Those Glorious Glorious Domestic Skills! But More Then That thank Mama Arc for giving him that ass!
And she was perving on Jaune again… Great. Ugh she needed to settle this already, heck she wasn’t even able to hide it anymore. The Staff totally made fun of her over it even!
But like, she didn’t wanna be all weird, plus the blonde liked the little icy no tit princess, and she was in a mood again… Was she really jealous of a teenager who was built like a ironing board… Yes, yes she was and that more then anything else infuriated her.
Heck he was on a team with Pyrrha-Obvious-Nikos! At least Yang could accept losing to the spartan! Okay… Maybe lose was a bit much. After all if she went for it she would nab that blonde up in a second. So why didn’t she?
Cause, cause she was a teacher… Y-yeah, that was it, totally not because she had cold feet, and never been in a relationship that lasted more then a weekend… Gods Dammit.
And then she stumbled upon it, Jaune and her partner training, Glynda had taken a shine to Jaune, not at first, her partner was pretty peeved about the whole Transcripts thing. But after a few weeks her favorite student (Ruby being the exception) had used his Arc charm on her.
Glyn was a bit softy underneath all that stern strictness of her’s. Wait? Was she… checking him out? Yep, Glyn was focusing pretty hard on her blonde Himbo’s ass… And she was touching him! WAIT WHAT!? Glyn Didn’t Touch People, She didn’t need to with her semblance! Why Would She… OH THAT BITCH!!!

That’s right Glynda had been benefiting from Jaune’s talents as much as she was, actually he was also helping her with paperwork apparently (something about paying her back for the aura control lessons) NO NO NOOO!
She was not losing Jaune To Her Partner and the stick up her ass! Yang never thought of herself as the jealous type but here she was, going into her room and grabbing some of her risqué clothes… Yeah they were pretty old, she at least went up to cup sizes since she last wore this to… Perfect.
Now all she needed was a night to alter them, thank Oum she was used to sewing cause of Ruby. And she was ready, and as she stepped into class, ready to teach unashamed and with a cocky smile on her face she looked to her mark. Jaune Arc much like the other boys in her class was staring just like she wanted him to.
Yep, Yang Xiao-Long might’ve been scared of screwing up, of causing issues for Jaune or more importantly Beacon and the moral implications of a teacher screwing her student, but that all came second, because more then that she refused to lose to anyone. And now that Glynda might be in the competition she wasn’t gonna hold back.

Bed Check
Inspired by That 70's Show Bed Check Scene
Inside a space room inside the Xiao Long-Branwen household, were two young blonde adults on a pink fluffy bed.
“Soooo, how you been?” asked Yang.
The boy sitting next to her simply blushed as he rubbed his arm in a nervous manner. “I-I-I’ve been doing great.”
Yang scoots closer to Jaune, breaching his personal space. “C’mon, lighten up. Look I know that we didn't start off the best but I want this. I want you, Jaune. I love you, Jaune. I really do.
Jaune looked down at his hands before speaking again. “I’m still trying to forgive you. I like you, you’re beautiful. But I’m not sure I can say that I love you yet.
Yang looks down at the dejectedly, the memories of what she did to Jaune still playing in her head. Gods she was fucking bitch for even doing it, what was she even thinking. Yang was taken out of her musing when she felt Jaune’s large hand encompass her own.
“Hey, I said yet. There’s still time for us to grow.”
The smile that Jaune gave to Yang made her heart skip multiple beats. She felt her eyes grow heavy and she leaned in towards Jaune. Jaune didn’t even try to move away, instead leaning in as well.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
“BED CHECK!”
“Hide!” Yang told Jaune as she shoved him to the side just as the door opened. A blonde muscular man and a black hair woman walked in, scanning the room. Just as her parents walked in, Jaune hid behind the door.
“H-h-hey guys, wha-what um bring you guys here.” said Yang nervously.
Raven spoke, “We just wanted to check up on you an-”
“See if anyone snuck in. I heard some noises.” interrupted Tai.
“Well as you can see there’s no boy here.”
“I never said anything about a boy.”
‘Crap’ “But it was implied. Besides, I’m not dating anyone.”
“That we know of. You said the same thing when you were going out with that Winchester boy.”
“Yang sweetie” said Raven, “you don’t have the best track record of choosing men. We just want to make sure you are not doing anything you’ll regret.”
Yang rapidly moved her eyes, signaling Jaune to leave. As he snuck out, Yang softly said, “Yea, well, you guys are a bit late for that.”
“What was that young lady,” said Tai.
Yang said, “Nothing! So thanks for stopping by, bye”, as he pushed them out of her room.
As she closed the door, Yang put her back to the door and slid down. “So that's how it feels to be cock blocked. It sucks.”
As Jaune left Yang’s room, he went to the closet room from Yang’s and opened it. Going in and closing the door, he was surprised to see who’s room it was. And even more surprised to see who else was in it.
On the red covered bed was Blake and Ruby. Who were aggressively making out. They stopped and looked at Jaune, who stared back at Jaune. It was Ruby who broke the silence.
“Jaune?!. Get out!”
Blake then grabbed Jaune’s arm.
“Wooah, not so fast Jaune.” said Blake as she gave him a sly smile.
It took a moment for Ruby and Jaune to process what she said. Once Jaune came to, he gave Blake a light slap which Ruby followed up with a series of her own light slaps.
“Idiot, Ruby’s dad is doing a bed check.”
And just like that, the was a pounding at Ruby’s door.
“Bed check.”
All three quickly moved; Blake and Jaune underneath Ruby’s bed while Ruby went to the foot of her bed and pretended to be praying. Her acting skills were enough to fool Tai. Well it was that, or Tai had a much softer spot for his youngest than for his oldest. No, he did not have a favorite.
“And bless mommy, and bless daddy, and bless Qrow.” Ruby then turned around. “Hi daddy,”
“Sorry to bother you kitten.”
With that, Tai and Raven left her room. As the door closed, Ruby went to check to see where they would go next.
“Blake, get your hand off my ass.”
“It was an accident.”
“SSSSHHH!” chidded Ruby.
“It’s still there.”
“It’s still an accident.”
“BLAKE, it’s still there!”
“Yea.” smiled Blake.
Blake received a slap to her forehead.

So much can Ozpin be blamed for the current trauma of Rwby and Jnor? Like he seem to implie Pyrrha believe only she could do anything which lead her to fight Cinder in what she should know was basically suicide. Now I haven't seen anything so if I'm feel free to tell since you seen the show.
Ah, right. Well, I can't really say for certainty whether Ozpin coerced Pyrrha or if she acted of her own free will or whatever. Honestly, I've even seen people say that Pyrrha was selfish and chose dying to Cinder for the sake of "destiny" over being happy and alive with Jaune. These thoughts make me sad to consider.
BUT a lot of what's wrong in Remnant can be traced back to Ozma pretty much keeping everything quiet, though I can understand why he did it. I mean, look at Leonardo Lionheart and Raven Branwen. These were people he trusted with the secret, and they turned their backs on him, both of them siding with Salem eventually. Now imagine an entire Remnant of Lionhearts and Ravens. Not a pretty picture imagining a civil war, is it?
Still, either or, let's stay on topic with RWBY and JNOR, and Pyrrha VS Cinder. Actually, let's JUST focus on Cinder VS Pyrrha because I've seen people argue over a lot of stuff in RWBY and this moment holds a special place in my heart because this was where RWBY's tone DRASTICALLY changed.
Pyrrha, having escaped Beacon Tower, realizes that Cinder is still alive and killed Professor Ozpin. All the while, she's got this idea of what her destiny is supposed to be, that being her fighting Cinder for the power of the Fall Maiden. Did Ozpin influence her? My gut tells me no, though the circumstances did push her to decide that she HAD to be the one to jump into the pod.
Did Pyrrha have a chance to win in her weakened state against a Fall Maiden powered Cinder? No. Hell no. Not a chance. But she still tried, and she knew that if she didn't try, there was a strong chance that things would only get worse in Beacon. So instead of waiting for someone to show up, which due to the Grimm and the White Fang and the Atlas robots who knows how long that would take, she chose to take matters into her own hands. To take control of her destiny. And when Jaune tried to stop her, she did the only thing she could to protect him; she sent him away on the rocket, distracting him with her first and last kiss.
Pyrrha Nikos, whatever happened, died a hero, trying to stop something she had no chance of beating, and in a way, still fights today.

the maiden powers, specifically who they go to upon the previous maidens' deaths, are obviously controlled by the inner circle to the best of their abilities--they don't want them to fall into wrong hands after all-, but the maidens themselves seem to be less so.
amber traveled alone despite being inexperienced. sure, qrow was around, but clearly he wasn't close enough to interfere quickly and actually save amber despite how obvious the ongoing battle was.
the spring maiden (allegedly) managed to run away, leaving no clue behind on where she might have gone to--and at an unknown point of time she was trained and killed by raven.
at the moment, fria is the odd one out, but her age and health help explain her situation, and we have no reason to believe she wasn't free to go as she pleased before.
considering the similarities between amber and spring--being out and about, involvement of one of the branwens, being attacked which led to their death--, i wonder if summer maiden's situation mirrors fria. perhaps lending more credence to the idea she's a child, to have the other side of the coin compared to fria's old age?
either way, the thing about the maidens being controlled is that... there's only so much one can feasibly do? qrow and raven were meant to look for them when their hosts became unclear (implying that controlling even that is pretty darn impossible), and if they were also tasked with looking after them / training them... that's still just two people for four.
if the inner circle's goal was to actually control the maidens, they've really been half-assing it the whole time lol

Raven what’s your opinion on Weiss, Blake and yangs relationship now that they are all dating each other?
Who're Weiss and Blake?
Oh. Yang's Schnee and her catgirlfriend.
All dating each other?
Eh. Chip off the old block. Here's hoping it turns out better for Yang than mine did for me.

You know, if the possibility of Summer not only being Salem's final lieutenant, but also possibly the person who accidentally killed the Spring Maiden (and who might also be Gretchen Rainart based on a previous theory mentioned somewhere)...
That's gotta be reaaaaaaally awkward if Summer was ever around Hazel at any point.
i’ve mentioned this before i think (<- i assume by “mentioned somewhere” you mean you read a theory post but can’t remember where in which case, the op was probably me, i’ve been on this train for a while) but:
the official story is that gretchen rainart, after enrolling at beacon academy, “tragically lost her life” on a training mission
per lionheart, the spring maiden was “determined, at first, when she inherited her powers, but the weight of responsibility proved to be too much for the child. she... ran. abandoned her training, everyone. that was over a decade ago.”
per raven: “she was scared when we found her! weak! no matter how much training i put her through, she never learned! she wasn’t cut out for this world! and with those powers, she would’ve been hunted her entire life. what i did—”
(“and which we are you referring to?”)
raven: “that’s why i tried to leave when i did. i’m not afraid, i’m smart.”
raven left taiyang shortly after yang was born. this would be approx. 15-16 years ago as of the beginning of V1. however, her statement that she “tried to leave” suggests that she stayed (reluctantly?) entangled with ozpin’s cause for longer.
eyeballing it, summer left when yang was around five and ruby about three. this would be about 12 years before the start of V1 and 3-4 years after raven broke things off with tai. since raven and summer were obviously still in close contact then, this tracks with the interpretation that leaving tai <> leaving ozpin.
‘more than a decade ago’ is vague but presumably means >10 and <20. so spring running away would have occurred approx. 10-18 years before the start of V1.
hm.
“nice story. but if gretchen’s death taught me anything, it was never to trust you.”
let’s consider the case of the runaway spring maiden. and, more specifically, the assumptions the fandom (myself included) have tended to make.
first assumption: the spring maiden trained in mistral or at haven academy.
no one ever says as much. qrow’s suggestion that the spring maiden was “picked up” by the branwen tribe after she ran away does not, in a world where trans-continental travel is commonplace (and was explicitly safer a decade+ ago than it is now), necessarily imply she ran away from haven. weiss got picked up by the branwen tribe after she ran away from atlas, after all.
likewise, amber’s presence at beacon and, later, fria’s in atlas prime the audience to link the spring maiden to haven. however, both amber and fria were in the academies because they were medically fragile and not expected to live for very long; prior to cinder’s attack, amber was traveling in rural vale, tailed by qrow. it also makes sense, in general, not to keep the living keys to the vaults in the same fortress as the vault they can open.
second assumption: lionheart knew her.
this follows from the assumption that she attended haven, but look at what’s missing from lionheart’s account: he never uses self-referential pronouns. his syntax leaves it ambiguous whether he knew this girl or if he’s simply repeating information he was given.
third assumption: raven’s “we” is the tribe, and she’s talking about finding the spring maiden after the girl ran away.
before V9, this was more plausible, but i don’t think it adds up now that we know raven was still at least notionally aligned with ozpin, via summer, as recently as twelve years ago. in order for “we” to mean the tribe, raven would have had to actually leave (as opposed to “trying to leave”); thus, either summer was conspiring with raven while raven was leading the tribe, or raven met the spring maiden after whatever went down with summer, in which case the third person involved is a complete mystery. the former is possible, but i think the simpler explanation—that this “we” is ozpin’s circle—is more plausible.
especially because what raven says lines up with what lionheart says. except for “she was determined at first,” but even if lionheart did know her, raven was clearly much closer to her and is the type to see through any façade the girl might have put up. (pyrrha was also “determined” but you know that if raven knew her, she would remember how scared pyrrha was. same principle likely applies here.)
fourth assumption: “what i did—” is solely about raven mercy-killing her.
which, it might be.
but if “we” means ozpin’s circle, that would mean raven was training the spring maiden on his behalf—and because it doesn’t really make sense for #3 to be anyone but the spring maiden, we can assume with high confidence that raven had a kindred link with her, ergo she loved the kid like her own family.
the spring maiden “ran away.” gretchen rainart “tragically lost her life on a training mission.” raven “tried to leave.” summer and raven and a third person were involved in a rogue mission to end things once and for all, none of them ever came back, and raven never told anyone what happened.
all of these things happened a bit more than a decade ago.
“what i did—”
i think she’s talking about summer’s last mission. the young spring maiden was overwhelmed, scared, struggling to learn what she needed to learn—and she had a huge target painted on her back because of salem. raven cared about her. if she wasn’t cut out for this world, the one defined by eternal war between ozpin and salem, then maybe the answer is to change the world. end it, once and for all. (sometimes it’s worth it all to risk the fall?) so she conspires with summer to do exactly that.
and then it goes so catastrophically wrong that a) summer joins salem, b) there’s a fight, c) gretchen is mortally wounded, d) raven either mercy-kills her or just can’t save her, and e) raven becomes the spring maiden.
ok.
now. if gretchen was the spring maiden, how do we square the circle of “died on a training mission” vs “ran away”?
in V3, qrow talks about having to search for maidens and in V5, ozpin says that one of the reasons he gave the branwens bird forms was to make it easier for them to search for new maidens when the transference of power was “unclear.” gretchen enrolled at beacon “against her brother’s wishes” and hazel holds ozpin responsible for her death; i think she was the spring maiden before she enrolled, raven identified her, and ozpin recruited her personally.
(if only because unknown maidens are mentioned twice in connection with the branwens and that has yet to pay narrative dividends; and it fits quite nicely.)
it does not go well. gretchen gets more freaked out with every new inkling she’s given of the conspiracy and is under intense pressure not to back out or tell anyone on the outside what’s happening. raven, her mentor/handler, sours more and more on the whole situation and eventually decides she’s not going to be a part of it anymore.
she’s not backing down from the fight. she’s not running away. but she’ll give gretchen a way out and make sure no one else can find her, and if that blows up her relationships with the rest of the inner circle, so be it.
so the spring maiden runs away. “abandons” her training, except raven still knows where she is and is still trying to help her figure out the magic because, well, she’s sort of stuck with it until she dies. gretchen can’t go home yet (salem might find her), but she can lay low and focus on mastering this power to defend herself away from the pressure of being one of ozpin’s guardians.
raven refuses to tell anyone where gretchen is. hazel is getting increasingly frantic; either she’s dropped out of contact or her vague, cryptic messages have him worried. nobody at beacon can give him a clear answer.
several years go by. the situation does not improve. somehow or another summer and raven cook up a plan to Fix Everything by taking salem down. it goes horribly wrong. summer joined salem, gretchen is dead, raven is the one left standing with blood on her hands and magic in her soul, after years of obfuscating where the spring maiden went.
what to do?
tell no one about summer. no one would fucking believe her if she told the truth. refuse to answer questions about her bond to summer, no one will think twice about her doing that because it’s what she did when gretchen went missing, too.
tell hazel gretchen is dead. he deserves to know. what happened, and why it happened, but leaving out summer’s involvement. if she’s vague on how and when—if she makes it sound like she was too cowardly to tell anyone that she, perhaps, let gretchen die (“[you saved yang] once. because that was your rule.” <- qrow really believes this)—or couldn’t save her—she can reveal that gretchen is dead without linking her death too obviously to summer’s disappearance.
if ozpin hears that gretchen is dead from hazel—when the infuriated meltdown rampage happens—then he can quietly tap qrow to confirm (by talking to raven) and restrict who knows the truth; hazel’s explosive grieving anger is easy to spin as hysterical paranoia.
and playing gretchen’s death “close to the chest” is a classic ozpin move. after all, learning that gretchen has been dead the whole time will only sow negativity, and the situation doesn’t materially change very much either way; they’re looking for the spring maiden either way, and everyone is aware that gretchen might die before they find her, so they’re already keeping an eye out for unknowns. qrow knows the truth, but he’s not about to spill the beans to anyone without ozpin’s say so.
and summer’s the one who suggests recruiting hazel to salem, because it’s her fault gretchen is dead but she can at least bring hazel into the fight to tear down the system that led her there. (“you’ve never wondered why she recruited you? you, specifically, to help her find the relics?” <- a narratively interesting line of attack in that it explicitly puts this question in front of the audience, follows up with an unequivocal confirmation that salem sought hazel out very deliberately, and follows that with ozpin’s overtly manipulative and unsatisfying answer of “because hazel is easy to manipulate.” lots of people are easy to manipulate. why choose hazel? how did she even know about Just Some Guy who lost his sister?)
like
all it really requires to tie everything together around the discrepancies is for ozpin (a liar) and raven (a matryoshka doll of secrets she refuses to talk about) to be, er, lying and keeping secrets. and narratively gretchen being the spring maiden just makes sense, to almost the same degree that summer joining salem just makes sense. it’s intuitive. it fills in gaps the narrative quietly circled in V8. it tracks with gretchen being so important in the same volume that makes a huge thing of how no one knows what salem is really after. no more gretchens; so you’ve decided against vengeance for your sister, after all this time?; in pursuit of a new world.
but yeah like. it’s fun because hazel is so malleable and so good at pretzeling his thinking that he could conceivably have been told the truth—summer killed gretchen—and still been talked around to aiming all of his fury and vengeance at ozpin because 1. ozpin is the reason gretchen got pulled into this mess, and 2. gretchen died in the crossfires of a fight that broke out when summer learned the truth (that the war was one-sided paranoia), and 3. for salem and summer the point of this war is to end the paranoid conspiracy so nothing like this can happen again. but my god, the tension between him and summer could probably cut glass.
