You don’t own me
Yan! Alpha x Omega! Reader
Part 1 out of ? ?
“Alright everyone! Show starts in 30 minutes so get your shit together. (Y/n)! Here, this is your new costume for act #6. Now shoo” Everyone disperses in a frenzy to get ready for the night.
Grabbing the sheer bodysuit from the stage manager (y/n) made her way to her assigned vanity to adjust the scent blockers. The audience doesn’t like seeing them but can’t behave if the dancers don’t wear them. The last time an omega went out there without wearing his scent blockers an alpha straight up took him from the stage and took him home with her…he didn’t come back.
“If this gets anymore see through I might as well be a stripper. Alex! Wheres the rest of the outfit? This can’t be it” Alex peeked his head around the corner to see what the complaint was about now. Being the one to piece the costumes together for each act meant a lot of complaints or last minute touch up. As the beta looks at the outfit being held up, he doesn’t understand where it came from. He would never put one of the performers in that. The material is far too cheap and leaves nothing to the imagination.
“Honeybee, where did you grab that from? Thats not the outfit I set out for you. Yours is the pretty red corset dress with the white pearls. Here-give me this…ugly thing” Alex grabs the sheer monstrosity as if he was taking out 3 week old trash.
“Liam gave me that. He said it was my new costume and tossed it at me. Didn’t say anything else.” Eyes looking sharply at her, Alex, trying to keep his cool, gritted out “Liam? Gave you this. That fucking idiot. Don’t listen to him. Im going to have a little…talk. Get dressed you’re on in 5”
As much as you would love to see that go down, you reluctantly started to get dressed in the right outfit. Today is the 4 year mark of you working here. 4 years of being an independent omega with no mate. Not that you were against having a mate, you just didn’t want to be with an alpha. They were too controlling and suffocating for your liking. In all honesty, you had your eye on Alex since the day you started here. Standing up and walking towards the stage, you started to take deep breaths to steady yourself. You’ve done this act thousands of times. It’s a fan favorite. You were the crowds favorite. Mustering all the confidence you had and putting on your best seductive look, you nod towards Elizabeth.
The curtain opens.
The spotlight shines.
The music starts playing…
Red eyes are on you.

Happy 19th Birthday, Stargate Atlantis!
On July 16th, 2004, the pilot aired. Here's a handy little primer for anyone who doesn't know what the heckity heck this show is about. Everything is totally accurate, 100% true and very, very serious.
So.
Tumblr media
This is the lost city of the Ancients, Atlantis, in the Pegasus galaxy, about 3 million light years from Earth. (The Ancients can go fuck themselves. Long story.) Atlantis is a city/spaceship approximately the size of Manhattan. She's semi-sentient, but not really, except actually yes, maybe, sometimes, totally. The whole city can go underwater or into hyperspace. Loves her humans. Home. Declaration of independence imminent.
The Atlantis expedition consists of civilians and military from at least 34 countries (in later seasons, the original expedition was just over a dozen). In no particular order:
Tumblr media
Dr. Elizabeth Weir. The first leader of the expedition. The only adult. Sometimes. Okay, not very often. Is not above a little war crime for the good of the galaxy—or at least, for the good of Atlantis. Left a boyfriend and a dog on Earth, but we all miss the dog more than the boyfriend. Eats UN representatives for breakfast. Is terribly awkward on dates and really good at solitaire. Loves her chaos children. Which are:
Tumblr media
Lt. Colonel Suicide Mission John Sheppard. Walked through the Gate and Atlantis said, "dibs". Thinks people who don't want to fly are crazy. Not good with emotional stuff. (He's getting better.) Loves his found space family and would die for them, often literally. Stop that. Also loves Ferris wheels, things that go fast, and Rodney McKay. And no, we don't know how he gets his hair to go like that.
Tumblr media
Dr. Meredith Rodney McKay. Four degrees, two of which are PhDs, none of which are in social skills. Smartest man in two galaxies. Used to be an asshole, but got himself some friends who loved him such a stupid amount that he had no choice but to change. Still a work in progress. We love to see it. Blew up three quarters five sixths of a solar system. (It was uninhabited.) (Mostly.) Deathly allergic to citrus. Loves fully charged ZPMs, arguing with Dr. Zelenka, MREs, and John Sheppard.
Tumblr media
Lieutenant Aiden Ford. Went ass first through the Gate with a grin and a whoop on his very first trip. One of the youngest members of the expedition. Is not allowed to name anything, ever. Mild case of hero worship when it comes to his commanding officer, which is totally understandable. A cautionary tale of how addiction messes up not only you, but the people around you.
Tumblr media
Ronon Dex. Used to be hunted by the Wraith, lost his people in a terrible war, and is now a member of Sheppard's team where he gets to shoot things and beat up bad guys. Doesn't talk much, but when he does, he has something to say. Good friend. Excellent hugs, but have Carson check you out for any cracked ribs after. Is one bottle of Athosian wine away from staging an intervention regarding the Sheppard/McKay situation.
Tumblr media
Teyla Emmagan. In possession of the team's one brain cell. Leader of the Athosian people. Will rock a baby to sleep and then go outside where a Wraith is dangling from the highest tower of the city and stomp on his hands until he falls 800 feet. Can either beat you up in the gym or force you to meditate on your problem, your choice. Has the aforementioned bottle of wine ready and loaded.
Tumblr media
Dr. Radek Zelenka. Keeps the science team sane because Rodney sure as hell doesn't. Loves pigeons, cursing in Czech, and overseeing the thriving black market underground economy that has developed in the city. (Thanks @shaddyr for that lovely headcanon). Zachránil všechny naše zadky víc než jednou.
Tumblr media
Chuck the Technician. Aggressively Canadian. Doesn't have a last name, doesn't need one. Is ALWAYS in the control room, seriously man, when do you sleep? Reads trashy sci fi novels on night shifts and organized a betting pool in 5 different currencies when Ronon was fighting Teal'c. Needs to share his eyelash routine because we're jealous.
Tumblr media
Dr. Carson Beckett. The most Scottish Scot to ever Scot. Brilliant medical doctor who is not above the occasional unethical unorthodox treatment method. Sweet cinnamon roll of a man. Beloved by all. Loves his mom and wee baby turtles. Someone should take him fishing soon. 🥹
Tumblr media
Colonel Samantha Carter. Member of SG-1. Legend. Awesome. Boss. Absolute BAMF. Punched a Goa'uld system lord in the face once. We all have a crush on her.
Tumblr media
Dr. Jennifer Keller. Is very doctor-y, for better and for worse. Was all of us when she freaked out being on an alien planet for the first time, like a normal person would. Should totally have gone on a date with Captain Vega in that one deleted scene. [WE COULD HAVE HAD IT AAAAALL]
Tumblr media
Jeannie Miller. Rodney's sister. Gave up a career in science to be a mom. Solved Rodney's math problem in her spare time, with finger paints. Loves her brother even when he's being an idiot. Fanfic canon says: her house is always open for him and certain Air Force Colonels to crash in. Don't you dare get a hotel room. Yes, the guest room has Only One Bed, Mer, what's your point?
Tumblr media
Major Evan Lorne. If you are a moron and get yourself captured and imprisoned off world, he will swing by real quick with a couple Marines and bust you out. Co-parents Atlantis with Dr. Weir. Is actually a really talented painter. Needs a raise, a holiday, and a drink.
Tumblr media
Colonel Steven Caldwell. Grumpy. Has to deal with Elizabeth's chaos children on a regular basis. Will make the enemy ship go away with a big boom and save your sorry ass in space. AGAIN.
Tumblr media
Richard Woolsey. Used to be a New York City lawyer, one of the most ruthless creatures in the universe. His wife got the Yorkie in the divorce. Broke his heart. Is actually pretty cool if you let him do his thing (like get you out of an intergalactic war crimes trial by bribing the judges).
I know some characters and all the villains are missing, but this post is already longer than a trip on the Daedalus, so there you have it.
Stargate Atlantis. A show about wormholes, life-sucking aliens, ancient civilisations, space battles—and family, friendship, allowing yourself to love and be loved, and what it means to be home.
Happy birthday, fam.

Fictional Men Ranked Least to Most Likely to Eat Pussy
When I’m bored my powers turn to evil. Happy to announce that @earlymodernlesbian is not only is an enabler but wrote a gay companion piece which you can and should read here!!!!
10. Mr. Rochester — Jane Eyre
No chance of oral here. Sorry, I don’t think he puts Jane first once in this book. She’s too busy being a ministering angel to ever consider anything above and beyond her wifely duty and I don’t think Rochester ever really stops being a narcissist long enough to consider her desires or even, you know, her life. I bet his french mistress asked him to do it once and he was like “ew, no”
9. Rhett Butler — Gone With the Wind
Rhett says shit like “you ought to be kissed and by someone who knows how,” and then I bet would go down on you one time just to show you what you were missing out on, and then he’d tease you about how much you liked it for months afterwards and refuse to do it again. Imagine how much more normal Scarlett might have been if she was getting regular oral.
8. Konstantin Levin — Anna Karenina
Definitely knows about eating pussy and can’t stop thinking about it. I think he might even shamefully obsess about it in conjunction with his dirty peasant laborer fantasies. However, he also has the ascetic monk thing going on so I bet he hardcore represses his desires to actually do it. That being said, I think if he ever got over himself he’d be way into it.
7. Mr Darcy — Pride and Prejudice
I’m not convinced Mr. Darcy even knows going down on girls is a thing, but once Bingley had filled him in I bet he would try it. Elizabeth I’m sure would not object but I can’t see this happening more than once or twice.
6. Oliver Mellors — Lady Chatterley’s Lover
Mellors has the distinct advantage and disadvantage of being the only character from a book that actually describes sex acts. If it was based solely on what he said (being turned on by getting women off, not shutting up about Connie’s ass, talking about how much he wants a “real” woman with a “real” body), I’d say absolutely he wants to get down there and would use the cringiest words possible to describe it. However, they textually do almost everything else so I feel like if he ate her out DH Lawrence would have told us 😔
EDIT: he goes down on her in the most recent movie!!! vindicated
5. Jonathan Harker — Dracula
Jonathan is obsessed with Mina (rightfully) and loves her to the end of the earth, so of course he’d do anything for her, including eat her out. However, there’s so much putting women on goddess pedestals in Dracula that he might just like, repeatedly kiss her between her legs and and be like, “am I doing this right?” and Mina would be like “I love you so much Jonathan” but she wouldn’t actually get off, you know?
4. Heathcliff — Wuthering Heights
Someone who is willing to dig up your grave would definitely be down to lick your pussy. Cathy and Heathcliff are so rabid about each other I bet oral is like, one of the least weird things they would have done to each others bodies if they had the chance
3. Gabriel Oak — Far from the Madding Crowd
Not intimidated by Bathsheba’s independence and position of power. Could take care of her and spoil her if she ever let him and they both know it. Plus, not afraid to get down and dirty and do farm work for her. If a man cures your sheep and saves your hay before a storm, what else will he do for you? 👀
2. Mr. Knightley — Emma
Mr. Knightly is the definition of a service top. 100% confident in his masculinity and completely comfortable putting Emma’s needs and wants first, but not gonna let her get away with being high and mighty. Excellent combination of obsessed with her but still in charge. ;) She would get neurotic about it and he would tell her to chill out and he’d be right.
1. George Emerson — A Room with a View
George chugs his respect women juice and is so turned on by the idea of women as individuals with unique desires he can’t stand to see Lucy betray herself by marrying a robot. “I want you to have your own thoughts even when I hold you in my arms” ?!? “The desire to govern a woman lies very deep, and men and women must fight it together before they shall enter the Garden” !! What’s not to love about a pro-Eve humanist who enjoys swimming naked and is constantly telling everyone to be less embarrassed about desire and the body? No question George is going to be eating Lucy out every day of their lives and getting off on it himself.
Bonus:
Marius Pontmercy — Les Misérables
Shy, but also French. Not sure which one wins out here.

Safest with You - Ch. 2 (The Bookstore)
1.7K / Modern AU Retired Mob Enforcer!Din Djarin x fem!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: You run into a familiar stranger at a bookshop after work.
Warnings: None! All fluff: our meet cute continues in a second location.
A/N: Thank you for the kind words and encouragement on Ch. 1 🥹 This takes place at the end of the day following the events of The Coffeeshop (Series Masterlist). There's a Paz mention (he took over from Din as head of security for the Fett family when Din retired), and a Peli mention too! 😊 I didn't set out to do dual POV, but it veered in that direction a little bit - if you have any tips on writing in this style, please do kindly share! Thank you!
Tumblr media
You work late, as usual, and find yourself with just enough time to run across the street to your favourite independent bookstore downtown before heading out to dinner with some friends.  It’s actually such a funny little store to be tucked away amidst all the concrete skyscrapers, but you’re grateful it exists – a friendly, cozy haven that you often find yourself visiting at the end of a long work day.  Today, you’ve come expressly to pick up multiple copies of the latest release in a fantasy series that a few of your dinner friends are reading.  After picking up four copies, you give in to the temptation to look around the shop for something to add to your ever growing TBR pile.
---
Din spots you from his spot in the bookstore window before you even come in.  He’s supposed to be keeping watch for the target in his assigned area, but the truth is he’s been distracted thinking about you all day.  He had noticed you in the coffeeshop this morning even before the kerfuffle with that scrawny punk in the grey suit, but after having spent a little time with you, he hasn't been able to get your pretty smile and sweet voice out of his mind.  He had been touched by the way you took care of an old lady you didn’t even know; but it was after your warmth had radiated to his hand when you had warned him of the sharp porcelain shards, that you truly became unforgettable.  He admired the way you had diffused the situation this morning; not many had the talent to calm and soothe him with a single touch. It was especially striking since he had seen a fiery spark in your eyes when you had admonished that jerk in the grey suit.  The way you could be so sweet, but then tap into such passion at a moment’s notice, had him grinning to himself positive he would not want to get on your bad side. What a woman.
Din watches you bounce into the store and make a beeline for the new releases table.  With amusement, he sees you select multiple copies of the same book, but not before picking up and examining all the copies on the table, and choosing only the ones that pass your careful inspection.  After you disappear between the stacks, Din makes the split second decision to leave his post (he and Paz had planned for multiple sightlines covering each location.  It should be fine.).  Going first to the till to discreetly pay for the books that he saw you pick up, Din then ducks into the back of the store where he saw you wander off to.
He finds you straightening up the piles of books on a table labelled “BookTok Faves” and wonders if you’re organizing a mess you had stumbled upon or one you had created by searching through the copies looking for the “crispiest” covers.  He finds both possibilities to be equally charming.
“Hi.”
You look up, completely taken by surprise to see the handsome Quad Ice stranger from this morning looking at you with an adorable grin, and you can’t help but smile back, “Hi!  It’s you.”
Din chuckles, “Yes, it’s me.”
Right away you think of the events of this morning, “Oh!  Was everything okay with the old lady after I left?”
Din isn’t at all surprised that your first thought is to ask after someone else.  He tells you everything: how he waited with Elizabeth for her cappuccino to be called, how he learned she’s in the city visiting her twin grandchildren (one girl, one boy), and how he saw her to and sat with her at a prime window seat in the coffee shop for a little bit, and that when he left, she was halfway through the delicious coffee cake, which she had insisted he take a bite of.
You delight in these details and you tell him so as you thank him for his thoughtfulness.
“What about you?  How was the rest of your day?”
You note that it’s kind of him to ask and let him know that you had a perfectly lovely day, “…and to think, some spilled coffee on my clothes didn’t make a lick of difference to the people I work with.  Imagine that!”  You have a twinkle in your eye, and Din laughs along with you, not even trying to hide how mesmerized he is by the sound of your giggles.
He points at the stain on your skirt that he remembers seeing this morning and offers, “Well, if you need a good dry cleaner, my friend runs ‘Peli’s Drycleaning’ on 14th.  If you say Din sent you, they might try extra hard not to lose your clothes.”
“Oh!  Thank you!  I have a great relationship with my dry cleaners… I spill a lot,” you joke, “but I appreciate the offer so much …Din.”  You try out his name and find that you love the way it sounds rolling off your tongue; you introduce yourself and give him your hand when he holds out his.  His huge hand completely dwarfs yours, and as he holds your hand for a moment longer than necessary, you feel how strong and rough his palm and thick fingers are and think you might like the feel of his hands even more than the feel of his name.
To snap yourself out of a daydream state that is barreling towards inappropriate thoughts such as where else you might like those hands and fingers, you take the opportunity to thank Din for everything he did this morning.  “Thank you again for all your help this morning; I’m really glad you were there.”
“You look like you had it under control,” Din smiles, but his brow furrows remembering, “but I didn’t like the way that guy spoke to you and Elizabeth.  He was really out of line.  No one should be speaking to anyone else like that.”
“Oh, sadly I feel like that’s more common than it should be around here.  There’s always some puffed up finance guy that thinks he can yell his way to the top,” you roll your eyes.  Over your career you’ve definitely met your fair share of douche bag finance bros; luckily, you’ve also learned that arrogance and false bravado aren’t the only way to get ahead.  You have a feeling that the man standing in front of you is a testament to the fact that strength and authority can come from calm and consideration. “You don’t work around here?” you ask Din.
Din shakes his head, “No, just have a work assignment that has me down here for the day.  I don’t usually come downtown.”  Din light heartedly jokes, “Which is lucky for our coffee-stained friend, you might not be around next time to calm me down if I were to see him again.”
You remember the electricity that had emanated from Din this morning when you had touched his clenched fists and remember the sense of safety you had felt then; you feel it now, just being in his presence.  You give Din a glowing smile, “Well, I hope his meeting went well and that no one noticed his stains, so he was thoroughly ashamed of himself for the rest of the day for the way he acted.”
“You’re much nicer than me.  I have been actively hoping all day that his meeting didn’t go well.”
“Well.  I think you’re very nice,” you look up shyly.
Din smiles back.  How are you so sweet? He is about to ask you if you’re free for dinner, when the phone in his hand buzzes.  He looks down to see a text from Paz that the target has been spotted and the location that everyone needs to converge at now. “Oh.  Shoot. I have to go.  I’m sorry.”
You’re a little surprised by the abrupt end to the conversation, but Din genuinely looks sorry to be leaving, “Of course!  Good luck with.. your thing!  It was nice to see you again.”
“You too.”  Din has already started to move towards the bookstore exit, but he tries to convey his regret at having to leave you with his forlorn expression.  He’s not sure if he will ever see you again, and he swallows the lump in this throat at that thought, doing his best to memorize your pretty face and the sweet way you’re waving goodbye.
After Din leaves you let out a deep sigh.  Would you ever see Din again?  He didn’t work downtown, so your chances of running into him at the coffeeshop or this bookstore again were probably nil. And you didn’t know anything about him other than his first name and the fact that he was kind and funny, with puppy dog eyes you could lost in, and big strong hands that would feel so good around… stop it.  You exhale another melancholy breath and wish you had had a little more time with Din, maybe you could have gotten his number or something.  You resign yourself to having to forget your handsome Quad Ice.
To fill this new emotional void, you add a couple more books to your purchase pile and you make your way over to the cashier.  After she scans your items, she pushes the stack back towards you and says, “It’s all taken care of!”
“I’m sorry, what do you mean?”
“The gentleman who was here earlier paid for your books already.”
Din? “The gentleman?  The one with the dark fluffy hair with greys in it?” You describe what Din was wearing as well, still in disbelief.
“That’s the guy!  He actually gave me a lot more than what’s needed to cover your books, so you can grab some more stuff if you want.  He said to keep paying for people’s books until it ran out, so if there’s anything else you want to get, go ahead.”
“No, that’s ok…I’m sure the next person will appreciate the gesture,” you say, absentmindedly, other thoughts racing through your head, “Wait.. did he leave a number or anything, some way I can contact him to thank him?”
“I actually asked him if wanted to do that, but he said he wouldn’t want you to feel obligated because of the books to call him; he just wants you to enjoy the gift.”  Your breath hitches a little; the cashier notices and says, “I know, right?” She gives you a dreamy look, which you mirror back.
Well so much for forgetting your handsome Quad Ice.
Tumblr media
Thank you for reading! First two lines of Ch. 3 (The Drycleaner):
“He bought you books?!?”
“Well technically, he bought us all books.”

Palmist Joan Elizabeth read Vale's hands, knowing only that they belonged to a bike racer, nothing more. 'His past lifeline curves round the base of the thumb. Nothing to do with longevity; it's how a person lives their life. This chap is very independent. Childhood may not have been an easy time. It's not a criticism of parenting; his very strong, independent spirit made him someone who wasn't easy to parent. It seems his life has gone in blocks, with some difficulties.
'He's unsure - not from his lack of commitment but other people's. With that sorted I see him zooming into the future in a controlled way; this chap has control over his life. Something of a temper I'd suggest, but he's probably only lost it once or twice because he likes to be in control.
I know he's a racer but I have to say I'm surprised. It's almost as if he got into what he's doing by default. I'd assumed that, because of the strong determination in his hands, he'd be very clear about what he's doing. In fact there seems to be a sort of vagueness. He probably found that he was very gifted and thought "I'll have a go". One day he'll wake up and say "I've had enough of this", and do something completely different. It'll certainly be creative. He's a very intelligent chap who could choose any career.
'Whatever he does needs movement, people, changes. Repetition is like death to him. A very emotional man too; his heart line shows more than his share of emotional events, some of which he's vowed never to repeat. He's buitt a strong defensive mechanism around him.
'He has a very sympathetic nature, but he likes to get on with it. Money-wise there's strong financial security. He's a very intuitive man who sums up people quickly. He doesn't suffer fools gladly, I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of him. He may have a lot of acquaintances but very few real friends, If he makes a friend, that's it, you've got him for life.'

Tumblr media
3rd POV
The Great Hall was loud with chatter as the students laughed and ate food, some hurrying to hide food in their pockets. The teachers are amongst themselves, chatting quietly while keeping a watchful eye over the students.
The chatter slowly died out as students noticed the Sorting Hat was out. Professor Dumbledore stands, the room completely silencing.
"We have a student transferring here and I expect you all to help her settle in. Y/N Maximoff, please come on in." He announces.
The doors open and the students watch the girl with red hair and blue-green eyes, walk towards Professor Dumbledore. She silently takes a seat as Professor McGonagall grabs the Sorting Hat.
"Oh my! What a cunning one you are with witty remarks and a glass heart! Your ambition is unlike the others I've sorted. Mmm...so driven and so focused. Not to mention independent. What a ruthless girl you are to the ones who pose as an enemy! I wouldn't want to get on your bad side! Haha! So charming and bold, one with beauty and power! You are brave and strong for the battles you've witnessed, young girl...ooo! And you can perform wandless magic!" The Sorting Hat says
The students among the Great Hall collectively gasp, but Y/N's face remained passive as she stared ahead blankly, impatiently waiting for the hat to sort her into her house.
"Well?" Professor McGonagall questions.
"Slytherin!" The Sorting Hat shouts.
Y/N stands as the Slytherin table cheers and claps. She begins her way over to the table, sitting at one of the empty ones at the end. She stared at the table, her stomach far from hungry.
She could hear the whispers about her and feel the eyes on her. It was a myth of those who could perform wandless magic. Or so everyone thought, but here stood Y/N.
She eagerly awaited to be dismissed, and she nervously played with her fingers. She tried her hardest to tune out all the whispers and she tried to ignore the stares. It was all so overwhelming though.
She looks up when a girl plops down across from her. She had long brown hair and pretty green eyes.
"I'm Pansy. Pansy Parkinson." She says, holding her hand out.
Y/N’s POV
I take it, shaking it as a group of boys sit around us. She gives me a kind smile.
"Y/N Maximoff." I say quietly.
"I'm Draco Malfoy." He says, throwing an arm over Pansy's shoulder.
They were a cute couple. That's for sure.
"I'm Blaise Zabini." He says.
"I'm Lorenzo Berkshire, love." He says, taking my hand and leaving a kiss on it.
When he looked away, I grimaced and wiped away the spot at my hand. He isn't as cute as he thinks he is. I look over and see the last one who seemed rather quiet. He was analyzing me. He had curly-ish brown hair and deep brown eyes.
Draco nudges him and he slowly looks over at Draco. I tense when something hits the back of my head. I turn around and it was Harry Potter. He laughs and I clench my jaw, letting my eyes go red. He quiets, looking fearful and I use my magic to lift the scone and throw it at his face hard. His glasses break and I roll my eyes, turning around.
I blink and let my eyes go back to the normal blue-green shade they always are. I ignore the impressed looks from my table.
"Honestly, he deserved that and more." Draco says, shrugging carelessly and I smile slightly.
"The dork beside Draco is Mattheo Riddle. He's a little quiet at first with new people. Just give him time." Pansy says.
"Alright." I say.
"Aren't you going to eat, love?" Lorenzo asks, brushing my hair over my shoulder.
I smack his hand away from me as the other guys laugh at his shocked face.
"No and stop calling me love. Your not as cute as you think you are." I snap and his jaw drops.
"That's the first." Mattheo mumbles.
"The first what? The first time a girl has slapped him or the first time a girl has turned down his advances and mediocre face?" I ask, quirking a brow at Mattheo.
Mattheo's lips slowly turn up into a grin as he studies me and Lorenzo pouts next to me.
"Both." Mattheo says before turning to his food.
"Way to bruise my ego." Lorenzo mutters.
"We can be friends, that's it. But don't expect anything more or you'll regret it. You aren't my type." I say.
"What's your type?" He asks.
"Not you." I say and he sighs as the guys laugh.
"Seriously, I get it. But, what's your type? I can set you up." He says.
Thankfully it was time to head to our dorms, so I stood and followed Pansy and the rest of the Slytherins towards the Slytherin dormitory's.
"Come on Y/N." Lorenzo whines.
"Your annoying me." I say.
"And?" He asks.
"It's something you don't want to do." I say.
He grins and I glare at him. I should have hit him. Pansy pulls me off in the direction that all the girls were heading.
“This will be our dormitory.” She says as she opens a door.
It was a big dormitory with two Queen sized beds on either side with matching green bedding. There was two wardrobes, a bathroom and several empty bookcases.
“This is my bed. Although, I will admit I’m not in here often. I’m typically at my boyfriends dorm.” She explains and I nod, taking the bed close to the window.
Oh what a year this will be.

ART THREAD
I have had the very great pleasure of commissioning some beautiful art to celebrate the release of my new novel Nine-Tenths. I'm going to share them all in this thread (and hopefully add to it if I'm lucky enough to be graced with more) so you can appreciate the talent of these incredible artists.
Tumblr media
by Christopher Winkelaar
Nine-Tenths is set in a world where all the nobility in Europe are homo draconis - shape-shifting dragons who have the ability to take human form. Every culture in the world have dragons living among the humans, but the European and Asian nations are the only ones where dragons were historically elevated to the roles of monarchs, nobles, and emperors.
In a world where the American Colonies rejected British rule, this meant they were also rejecting draconic protection--and so while they won their Independence in 1793, they were soundly trounced in the War of 1812, losing all of New England, including New York State, to the British. They were absorbed into the Canadas, except for New York City, which was reclaimed by the Dutch and re-renamed New Amsterdam.
The Canadian colonies expanded west, as they historically did in our world, through a series of broken treaties with the Indigenous peoples of the continent, and the reprehensible colonialist practices which put the settlers in power today. It also means they were able to expand further south, without the Americans to bump up against.
This also meant that the Americans were unable to expand as far south and west as in our world, coming up against Indigenous dragon-protected lands, such as the Oniagara, or Aztec and Incan empires, which grew further north after Spanish contact, and flourished.
Unlike in the current version of Canada, the land was legislatively divided into much smaller provinces than currently exist, each overseen by a hereditary draconic Lieutenant Governor, who report to the draconic Governor of the Canadas, who in turn reports to the House of Lords in England (also dragons). Each province is divided into Duchies, Earldoms, and Marquessates, presided over by a noble dragon family.
As dragons are long-lived, the current Queen of England is Elizabeth (the first one). As she has not yet passed, the Kingdom of Scotland as yet remains separate from England. Ireland too is independent, the Irish dragons having beaten back the English ones. However, Wales remains a satellite colony of England, as the betrayal which brought about it's subjugation and the trickery around the hereditary title "Prince of Wales" still occurred. (This an important plot point).

This is the first piece of art I commissioned for the novel, and you'll note it's now become the cover art!
Meet the heroes of our tale: barista and disaster bi Colin Levesque, stuck in the middle of his quarter-life crisis and crushing on his cafe regular, Welsh dragon Dav, the Marquis of Niagara (though of course, Colin doesn't know he's the Marquis, and thinks Dav is just some minor noble with nothing better to do all day than hang out and read).
Tumblr media
by @ibrithir-was-here
Colin works at Beanevolence, an indie cafe in downtown St. Catharine's, in the province of Upper Canada (Southern Ontario in our world). It's owned by his bestie Hadi, and he was only supposed to be a barista until he'd graduated. But now he has his Sustainable Tourism degree, and no clue what to do next. He feels completely stuck. Luckily he has Dav to distract him.
Except that one day Dav distracts him too well, which results in a kitchen fire. As an apology for the inferno, and to help the cafe get back on it's feet while the repairs are under way, Dav volunteers as the new bean roaster, creating incredible and (and ultimately social-media viral) coffee roasts with his fire-breath.
Tumblr media
by @ibrithir-was-here
Colin and Dav start a flirtation at work.
Which leads to...
Tumblr media
by @teejaystumbles
Luxurious dates and late-night smoochies.
Tumblr media
by @pinkpiggy93
Which also goes a little bit viral. See, it turns out that the Marquis of Niagara usually keeps a low profile, and his sudden romance with a human has the gossip rags and tabloids all in a tizzy.
But more than that, it puts Dav under the scrutiny of Francis Simcoe. He's the Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada, a dragon with a hate-on for Dav, and the perfect ammunition to ruin his happiness.
Because, you see, it's against dragonic rules for dragons to be seen to be laboring in service of humans... and Dav's new gig at Beanevolence is about to--forgive the pun--land him in hot water.

#save elizabeth schuyler hamilton from male biographers 2024
Just got pissed off so bad. I'm in the middle of reading Burr, Hamilton, and Jefferson: A Study in Character, which presents an intriguing argument that Burr deserves to be put back into the Founding Father Pantheon, so to speak. The author doesn't shy away from hitting hard against the idea that Jeff & Ham were morally superior to Burr, and I was on board! Ready to go!
But then. During the discussion of the women in each of their lives, the author decides the best way to further promote Burr's attitude towards women compared to Jefferson and Hamilton is to disparage Martha Jefferson & Elizabeth Hamilton?
On Martha Jefferson:
Martha Wayles Skelton had been a widow, and none of Jefferson's biographers, even the resourceful Fawn Brodie, has been able to tell us much about her—from the solitary letter remaining to us in her hand or the accounts of their contemporaries—beyond the general impression that she was handsome, musical, and frail.
On Elizabeth Hamilton:
Hamilton's Elizabeth was an heiress, the daughter of an upstate squire, Philip Schuyler, with Livingston and van Rensselaer connections. She was plain, straightforward, loyal, and neurasthenic, endured his flagrant and frequent infidelities, and lived to the brink of the Civil War.
I'm sorry, I don't know enough about Martha J. to protest to her characterization, but I think I can say something about Eliza. Plain? Neurasthenic? And once again, annoyed at the lack of citation or evidence for flagrant and frequent infidelities - but putting that aside, even if it were true, I don't like how her staying in her marriage is subtly implied to be some failure or at least less interesting than a woman who didn't "endure" them. There's a lack of consideration of both her own strength & the societal circumstances of that time that would have influenced her actions.
On Theodosia:
Her character emerges from their large and fervent correspondence. She was confident, well connected, well read, beautiful even after a burn scarred her face, witty, worldly, and full of expectations of him.
Okay. The author saw the point and it sailed over his head. "From their large and fervent correspondence" is key here. Like I said earlier, I don't know enough about Martha Jefferson, but I bet that "handsome, musical, frail" is probably not an all-encompassing picture of her. The similarity between her and Eliza? We don't have the letters that they wrote to their husbands. It's unfair to judge Theodosia (don't get me wrong! she was well read and intelligent, that's not what i'm denying) from her correspondence with Burr, but then not acknowledge that the lack of that perspective would impact how we view the other two women.
And to top it all off:
Unlike Jefferson's and Hamilton's, Burr's character was molded by the love of a woman of immense force and intelligence.
Neither Hamilton nor Jefferson married a woman who evidenced such force of character and independence of view.
Jesus Christ. There's plenty to criticize about Jefferson & Hamilton, and I really wanted to see a well-reasoned argument about Burr's character and whatnot but this lacks nuance and is unnecessarily dismissive. It pisses me off that a book that seems determined to break down the idolized version of Hamilton, somehow ends up using his wife to further their angle, just like biased Hamiltonian biographies. In both cases, Eliza is the plain, unintelligent, steadfast wife. For sympathetic authors like Chernow, that's somehow justification for the Reynolds affair. For Roger G. Kennedy, that's used in an argument against her husband. "Let's talk attitude towards women! Hamilton & Jefferson didn't have intellectual wives! Point for Burr!"
I don't know nearly enough about Martha Jefferson to say anything of merit, but really?
To give credit where credit is due, I think Kennedy is trying to make the point here that Theodosia Bartow Burr was a major influence on Burr, as "Burr's character blossomed in the radiance of his wife and mentor". He also goes on to talk about various genuine reasons why Burr's attitude towards women is noteworthy. But I still don't like the way he dismissed the other two women as what? Not smart enough to help their husbands' characters blossom? Maybe there's merit to this book outside of this one section, The Women, but right now I'm not in the mood. Am I being dramatic? Idk.

Tristan and Gawain are two very different characters in terms of personality, power, and history. However the way in which their characters are written is very similar.
Tumblr media
The biggest thing that Tristan and Gawain struggle with is their identity.
Gawain is at a time in her life in which she should be discovering who she truly is as a person. This comes with differentiating herself from her parents and deciding things for herself.
Tumblr media
However, in Gawain’s case she doesn’t know who her parents are or even what she really is— she has nothing that explains the type of person she is and that bothers her.
The more Gawain grows and learns about herself, the more questions she has. As those questions keep piling up, she struggles to comprehend who she is at her core. She knows that she is different from the other humans in Camelot and she hates it. If she could only learn why that is, she could find some peace within herself.
As for Tristan, he already knows what he is and that’s the problem. He is a Nephilim, a mix of races between demon and goddess. However, no one sees him as a true nephilim because he is stuck in his parents’ shadow.
Tumblr media
Whether it be out of respect or hatred towards them, Tristan is constantly being compared to his parents. He wants to be as strong as they are but time and time again he is being told that he can’t even compare to their strength. Hearing that over and over again ruins Tristan’s confidence and he starts to believe that himself.
No one respects him as a nephilim and that includes himself.
As a result of both Gawain and Tristan struggling with their identity, they fail to ask for help when they truly need it.
They both want to be independent or rather they want prove their strength by being independent.
Gawain wants to be emotionally strong. She has no issue bringing herself up as strong— the strongest. But emotionally, she isn’t as strong. She’s lonely and she doesn’t understand who she is.
So in order to make herself feel better she tells herself she’s strong— strong enough to get through all her troubles. But when she’s alone is when she suffers the most. She wants someone to comfort her— to tell her that everything is going to be okay. She wants her family with her.
Tumblr media
But she doesn’t have anyone, she’s all on her own.
As for Tristan, he wants to prove that he is physically strong.
Tristan has expectations placed upon him by others— his friends, family, enemies— everyone. And most of the time these expectations fall under the expectation of him being the son of Meliodas and Elizabeth, two very strong individuals.
But what he wants is for others to have expectations of his own strength, not his parents. So he feels the need to show others that he is strong on his own— that he doesn’t need the strength of his father to win— that he can use his own power.
Tumblr media
But his frustrations with his situation doesn’t help him. In fact, it only makes things worse. The only way for him to get better is to accept both sides of himself. On his own he can’t do that, he needs the help of others but if he asked for help that means accepting that he needs the help.
He refuses to accept that fact— refuses to get any help.
Both Tristan and Gawain are struggling on their own because they feel they have no one to rely on— no one who can understand their situation. But the two of them see each other struggling so they want to help each other out.
And though they may see themselves as washouts they can do their best together to become strong.

The Owl House Fans Don’t Know What Colonies Are
So this isn’t actually me firing shots at the show. This is about the meta commentary people like to use to elevate the show and it’s one of the most laughable to me. That it’s some grand, anti-colonial story because Belos is a colonizer and Luz stands up for indigenous people as one of them! I’ll get into the colony side of it but on a basic level, it needs to be pointed out that Belos is an American, not British. The closest he could be is one of those sent out to colonize for Britain but he was literally too young to have been a part of that decision when it happened if that were the case and those who colonized America... were treated as part of a colony to Britain. So literally he was a part of the oppressed or he’s post The War for Independence and America was never a colonial power, ESPECIALLY NOT BACK THEN.
Secondly... Just because Luz isn’t white doesn’t mean she can’t technically fall into the white savior trope. The point of that trope is just to talk about how much it sucks when an outsider comes in, makes everything better and fixes all the problems. Luz still ostensibly does that while not being a part of the culture or using the culture and its people in order to save them. Her glyphs are unknown to everyone except LITERALLY THE GROUND THEIR STANDING ON. So... Yeah, she’s not some inspirational story against colonizers. I think you’d have to write a VERY different sort of story for an isekai to be anti-colonial like that frankly. Oh, and we can’t forget that she’s literally blessed by a god because she has a viewpoint to their son that’s different from the rest of the Isles, the indigenous people, and is then empowered to go kill the ruler, who ostensibly the people approve of and chose to be there, regardless of the lies to why, because she does not believe in his methods or beliefs.
Which, you know, for either anti-colonial messaging or anti-Christian Fundamentalism is kind of yikes.
But neither of these matter because The Boiling Isles is NOT a colony. Not even close. The definition that the fans use to say it’s a colony, ruled by an outsider effectively, would have made RUSSIA a colony to Germany while Catherine the Great was ruling it purely because Catherine was a German. If that does not immediately make you cringe, you need to listen.
So as far as how they are ruled, what are the Isles? Well, I bring up Catherine not just because of the pointed joke. See, her husband also wasn’t Russian. He was a German as well but adopted by Elizabeth of Russia. When he became Tsar, everyone hated him and his policies, especially military policies, so much that they overthrew him and chose Catherine.
That’s effectively what the Isles is. They chose Belos as their ruler. Yes, they were deceived as to why he should rule them but they did choose it eventually. As far as we understand, he wasn’t a conqueror and he wasn’t even a part of a coup like Catherine was. Instead, after terrible deeds and the like, he united the Isles under his coven system, brought an end to an age and moved on with his life. His policies, besides magic, are even progressive in some ways because apparently children had no protection before Belos and then he added child endangerment laws. He ostensibly made the Isles a safer place with his guards who could respond to monster faster. The EC in fact, from the fact that they don’t do anything actually evil, especially compared to the populace, until almost S2′s finale with Labyrinth Runners (And I guess you could include Escaping Palisman but there’s extenuating circumstances there, much like how Eda is petrified for breaking the law. There’s more gray in theory to it.) That’s not how you run a colony... That’s just how you run your nation.
But of course that’s the case because the Boiling Isles literally CAN’T be a colony. See, colonies were made as a part of the concept of the Policy of Austerity. Each nation saw themselves as needing to be self sufficient, able to produce EVERYTHING required for civilization, without foreign aid. As such, colonies weren’t oppressed because of religious doctrine, that was propaganda, but out of necessity to that policy. After all, if your colonies have a real economy, they have less to give back to the mother land. You can’t tax them as much, you can’t regulate their trade as much, you can’t make sure their natural resources are going to you.
This is actually part of why the Puritans are the founders of America. They were annoying to the British so rather than dealing with them, they sent them to this weird, new world so as to bring back resources and get out of their hair. That’s also why Americans were treated maybe not quite as poorly as other colonies but we were still DEFINITELY a colony. We did not govern ourselves. Instead, Britain appointed our leaders and chose our policies. Otherwise, you know, we would have just gotten rid of the ludicrous tax on tea instead of throwing it into the harbor.
And if we want to talk more metaphorically about colonies... What culture did Belos push upon the Isles? Colonies would be made to adopt home cultures because that’s how the home country saw as the best way to rule and the best way to make the colony bend to the will of the homeland. If they act like British people, they will accept British rule more.
Except our one glimpse at the Isles is that they already look like they have the same fashion and architecture and commerce even as a Victorian era man. The architecture of the Isles literally doesn’t change between the past and the modern era, something the show actually does point out itself. Bonesborough as has a lot of the same buildings HUNDREDS of years later, there’s just more of them now.
Worse yet, the Titan is not Belos’ own religion. Ostensibly, it should be the Isles religion but they, reasonably, don’t know the Titan is alive. Belos theoretically doesn’t seem to either? Maybe? It’s inconsistent. But he establishes prisons instead of simply hanging those who do not conform in the present day. If they wanted to lean in on him bringing Puritan culture, there would have been a genuine purge of most of the Isles because of its rampant greed, self interest, art, stories, etc. that the Puritans were just very against because if it wasn’t about God, it died.
Again: The Puritans were so extreme, with such a stick up their ass, the BRITISH kicked them out of their country.
All of that would have hurt the fantasy though, wouldn’t it? It wouldn’t be some effectively idealic fantasy setting. Even the dangers Luz faces aren’t the worst and a real fantasy fan would be sad to see them be gone because then you don’t get that bit of menace that comes from a good fantasy world. More oppression, more change, more shifting to an anti-magic world like Belos theoretically should have been for (remember: He only asks that you join the Coven system. He barely cares what you do with the magic after that) then you lose that part of the isekai fantasy.
It’s actually part of why Belos being a human, his statement of “You think I want conquest” being that he just wants murder, actually makes the show less interesting. Evil emperors are a dime a dozen. Any isekai protagonist would expect to be pointed in their direction and shot off like a rocket. A genuinely complex ruler though who is having to deal with balancing humanity with his religion and his duties as emperor? That would have been a GREAT wake up call to Luz to stop assuming things based on tropes.
Belos would have had to be more of a part of the show and a character in his own right for that. Or for any of this really. We would have to see how Belos contrasts against a member of the Isles more and he really doesn’t. Serving in his own interest? Got plenty of villains like that in the Isles. Not caring about murder or enslavement for his methods? Yep, that’s pretty normal, including Odalia frankly. Lies to get what he wants? I mean, fucking LUZ does that!
But he is the bad guy because he’s the evil emperor and no amount of backstory or supposed meta narrative is going to fix that fundamental, thematic failing.

I love your take on potc characters and your headcanons for them. It’s just amazing. If it’s not a bother, I was wondering how do you think those characters would be as a parent? I mean we haven’t seen much parenting even for those that had kids in canon.
Ok so I actually have a few posts about this for James (hc)(hc)(hc) and Barbossa (fic) but! I can always expand. I also have one for Beckett (hc) since I'm obsessed with the idea.
Tumblr media
Jack – Oh god. This is such an interesting question, because I firmly believe that Jack is actively against having children. He really and truly cannot fathom the idea of having kids of his own and being torn between caring for them on land where they can lead good lives and being at sea where he himself is happy. It’s a moral conflict he just can’t bring himself to face. His idea of what a child’s life should be like is shaped by his relationship with Teague and the ways in which he recognizes his own childhood lacked structure and support. He knows he can’t be the parent he needed when he was younger, and is thus against having children at all. If he were to have kids of his own, he would have to make the painstaking decision to leave them on land. A pirate ship is no place to raise a child; it’s dangerous and unpredictable. In his eyes, the best place for a kid to grow up is in a place of more stability, where they might have a better chance at finding a legitimate profession and keep themselves out of the trouble Jack has lived in his whole life. Rather than having biological kids, I can more see him acting as a sort of father-figure to a lot of young boys who end up working on the Pearl, teaching them the ropes and watching as they grow in their abilities and confidence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Elizabeth – Elizabeth would be an interesting parent to have, for sure. I think her relationship with motherhood would be something very complex. For one, she has nothing to go off of, having had no mother of her own for most of her life. With her father gone, she can’t ask his advice, either. She’s such a fiercely independent and active person, too, that mothering may feel like an obstacle for her sometimes. That being said, I think she loves her children dearly and wants to do her absolute best for them. She teaches them all she knows—from proper behavior at formal functions to sword-fighting multiple enemies at once. She’s going to have the most well-rounded kids of all time, tbh. I’ve always kept this image in my mind of her showing up to a meeting of the Brethren Court with a kid just strapped to her front in a sling across her chest, and nobody says a damn thing. This also works as a method of volume control because nobody dares raise their voice and make the baby cry. I have an intrinsic need to see this happen, actually. I love the idea of her kids having pirate baby-sitters half the time when she needs to do something dangerous; Pintel and Ragetti act as honorary uncles, Barbossa as a granddad. Jack is the wine aunt. In all, her kids probably lead a kind of busy, chaotic life with people coming and going throughout their childhoods, but they have ties to an abundance of people who simply adore them.
James – The most devoted, doting father ever. James is terrified to mess things up as a parent, and is always worrying that he won’t be any good at it. He adores his children and has unparalleled dedication to them. He wants them to have a good scholarly education, something he never had, but if they choose the military over school, he’ll personally oversee as much of their training as he can. He’s a deeply caring father, too. Though not good at expressing his own feelings, he’ll do anything for his children when they need him. He wants them to feel safe when coming to him, something he could never do with his own father. He makes sure to spend quality time with his kids doing things that aren’t school or work, instead playing games or taking them out riding or reading to them. When the kids are young, he’ll take naps with them on his chest, holding them close. He recognizes that he may have to be absent for long periods of time due to the nature of his job, and it tears at him. His greatest fear is going to sea for months while his children are still relatively little and coming home to find that they don’t remember him. Thus, he works hard to be as present as possible while he’s home, wanting desperately to make a positive impact on their lives.
Will – Honestly, I feel like Will would make the most sane parent. After resolving things with his own father, he’s one of the people with the fewest daddy issues, and actually has a dad to ask questions of when he needs advice. Will feels like a very relaxed parent, not putting a lot of pressure on his kids. He was poor for most of his life, and though he wants better for his children than he had for himself, he also knows that happiness can be found working simple jobs. He’s very open to his children’s wishes and interests, and he’ll support them in pretty much damn anything. He definitely advises not becoming a pirate, though. Assuming the curse has lifted for him by the time he has children, he spends a lot of time with them. If it hasn’t, then he exploits loopholes and just has his kids come aboard the Dutchman as often as possible. He wants to be a presence in the lives of his children, and takes active steps to ensure it. I think he’s a little in awe as he watches them grow up, so impressed by all the things they accomplish, doing things he’d never even dreamed of when he was their age. He’s their number one hype man, too.
Tumblr media
Beckett – I have…feelings about Beckett as a father. He’s not a particularly present one, given that he has zero knowledge on how to take care of kids. There’s a nanny, no question. He doesn’t really know how to properly bond with his children, but does ensure that they get the best education possible and that they have access to a wealth of resources. Especially as the children start to get older and enter society properly, he has a good time with them making snarky commentary about the social scene. Sass is the name of the game. Speaking of games, I do see him as the type to enjoy chess, and he feels a wave of pride whenever his kids beat him. He’s overprotective and possessive—he refuses to let his children suffer in fear as he did when he was their age. He has Mercer with them as a bodyguard whenever they leave the house. If anything happens to his kids, Beckett is not above having the person responsible killed. I think he has a certain terror of being alone, and though he’s not the best at socializing with his children, he never truly wants them to leave.
Tumblr media
Barbossa – Hector is another doting father. He’s led a rough life, and though he doesn’t want that for his children, he’s not above taking them to sea when they grow old enough to sail. Before that, though, he leaves them on land with someone else, coming to visit every so often bearing gifts from all the places he’s been in the meantime. He can afford some degree of comfort for his children, too, and he certainly doesn’t spare that expense—if he can’t be there for his children, they’ll want for nothing else, dammit. Barbossa can’t give up his pirating ways to raise his kids on land himself, which is unfortunate, but the truth. If they do choose to go to sea, he takes them on as cabin-boys (or girls, he doesn’t give a fuck), and lets them learn and progress just like everyone else. I think he’d be happy to have them around, though a little concerned for their welfare. He knows better than anyone how dangerous a life at sea can be. Still, he isn’t too worried; he’s a realist if nothing else, and knows that there are chances for both good and bad. He puts effort into teaching his children and making sure they’re safe and cared for, but he’s a bit more hands-off than some of the others so his kids don’t feel like they’re suffocating. He lets them learn things for themselves, but makes sure they know they always have a (sort of) stable place to return to should they need it.
Tumblr media
(also, if there’s anyone else you’d like to see for this, I think I could probably expand on the list)

FNAF SL REDUX
This whole Au is just self-indulgent for me, but you may like it, so still give this post a read if you're a fan of Fnaf sl, Fnaf aus, or both. Enjoy 😊.
This Au is dedicated to "rewriting" sister location to be more independent from the other fnaf games (*cough* *cough* FNAF 4) and to give a more unique perspective to SL'S story.
This Au is focused on the funtimes
Tumblr media
I love these 4 sillies, I just love these 4 heck all the characters in sister location. I really wanted to have an Au that focuses on the funtimes and their struggles in the facility, focusing on that also allows me to delve into the very motivations that had them want to escape the facility in the first place.
The other animatronics in SL are also part of this Au, just not as prominent as the Skittle squad.
Elizabeth is also very prominent in this Au.
Tumblr media
Elizabeth is another character in SL. I love a lot, so she's also very present. Since she experiences the same pain as Funtimes I through, I felt it really necessary.
There are lore changes.
Not really changes, more so add ons. These add ons are here to expand upon what Fnaf had built with Sister Location but never did anything with past SL. Some stuff in here are add ons just to indulge me.
William and Michael are here too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While they're not as focused on as the characters previously mentioned, they do have their role and place in the story.
William is intentionally designed that way. While I do have a planned human design, I have a reason he looks like his 8-bit sprite. The reason is to show the rift he would unintentionally build with Liz after her death, and this rift would become so wide that she would no longer see him as her father let alone a person.
While Michael's look would specifically be keeped hidden through most of the story to show how the Funtimes and Elizabeth perceive him.
Oh yeah, Mrs. Afton is here too for some extra plot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't have a complete design for her yet, so all I have are concepts of her design. I'm still working on her character (That's the fun of Mrs. Afton not being canon yet, I get to write her how ever I like.) But I want her to be someone who's kind and sweet but doesn't take shit and has the will to beat the shit out of those who deserve it.
A major plot point she is a part of is going down into the rental facility to find clues on what could have happened to Liz.
She would find answers, but at a price
Tumblr media
Yeah, she would, um be killed by william. I'll go into further detail on this event at a later date.
Extra changes
Tumblr media
Redesigned the facility's map
Changed some game events because I didn't like them or I felt they could have been better
Some new faces to really bring life to this Au
Unique character designs
More a focus on events prior to Sister Location (the game) events
Spooky stuff if I feel up to it.
Mult ending ideas
This Au may also touch upon and make content in association with other games and books in heavy relation to Sister Location (ex. FNAF 6 and fazbear fright story "Room for one more")
That's all the info I got so far, I hope to post more about this Au soon.
Bye-bye

“i hope you’re not in the habit of seeing dead people, however distinguished. it’s not in the best of taste.”
“i mean, we’re not businessmen, are we? they have to distrust each other.”
“i want to just sit and not talk and not think.”
“well, it’s very wearing. everyone makes demands… especially men.”
“you look lovely.” / “i know. thank you, name.”
“we could both do with a change.”
“it really is the most extraordinary coincidence.”
“I’m afraid it’s all settled, name. i can’t go back on my word.”
“do you suppose it’s all real?”
“were you ever in your whole life so happy?”
“i promised myself the first thing to happen in this place would be a kiss.”
“we were going to choose the nicest room for you.”
“we were going to make it pretty for you with lots of flowers.”
“you shouldn’t be so independent that people have no chance to be generous.”
“you know, i hadn’t realized you were so pretty.”
“you’re really quite lovely.”
“i was just thinking about cuckoos for some reason.”
“i suppose you realize we’ve got to heaven.”
“i intend to spend most of my time reading by myself.”
“you have the most interesting habit of answering a question with the same question.”
“if i can be left quiet for one month, forget things… i might be able to get myself straight.”
“i’ve wasted so much time being beautiful.”
“what she really wants is to be left alone.”
“soon she won’t have to try… she’ll just be herself without trying.”
“don’t worry about me. I’m just lying here thinking.”
“then i have had all the trouble of coming out here for nothing.”
“we’ve just discovered it.”
“why don’t you like us being here?”
“we just didn’t know about it, that’s all.”
“i’ve written and told him everything.”
“it would be mean not to share all this.”
“the important thing is to have lots of love about.”
“i had this obsession with justice, you see.”
“i’d like to stay here and think.”
“that’s very imprudent and very improper.”
“have you noticed how difficult it is to be improper with no men about?”
“it’s a good feeling, getting rid of things.”
“i want to love name, but not necessarily spend every night with him.”
“i haven’t felt this restless since i was a child.”
“it’s too absurd for someone my age.”
“i feel something is going to happen. but i won’t let it.”
“it’s odd how one’s mind slips sideways in a place like this.”
“if you knew me, you’d know how strange it was.”
“there’s no way back.”
“isn’t it beautiful here, name? the air is golden.”
“you’re here. that’s the important thing.”
“you’ve every right to be angry with me.”
“where else would you meet such interesting people?”
“i don’t want name worried in any way.”
“i like him. I didn’t think i would, but i do.”
“all the advantages i was born with, and i’ve misused them.”
“i have it all. why can’t i hold onto it?”
“you have a gift for happiness.”
“well, it’s like coming home.”
“i mean, well… i don’t know what i mean.”
“i’d believe any place you lived in would be exactly like you.”
“isn’t it better to feel young somewhere than old everywhere?”
“oh, good gracious, child.”
“so you see, dear boy, you must stay here.”
“it’s such a pretty story.”
“i thought you might be bored.”
“sweetheart… i’m so glad you came.”
“you’re right, name. it’s this place.”
“and i’m late on your very first evening. do forgive me.”
“it’s a great thing to get on with one’s loving and not waste time.”
“she sees what we can’t see because she loves him.”
“oh, dear name, we must be friends forever and forever.”
“i couldn’t help noticing how miserable you seemed.”
“oh, what the devil. it’s too beautiful a night to be miserable.”
“all my dead friends don’t seem worth reading tonight. they always say the same things, good things, but always the same.”
“i’m tired of the dead. i want the living.”
“thank you, my dear. i was feeling a little melancholy.”
“it does seem that people can only be happy in pairs, all sorts of pairs.” / “then you and i will be a pair, name. we’re going to be very good friends.”
“the roses are in love in the rose garden.”
“but that’s another story.”

Buy the Promises - Chapter 4
It gets harder to keep the promise as time goes on, as Emily goes from his girlfriend to his fiancée to his wife. He wants nothing more than to put Elizabeth in her place, to stop her from hurting her daughter in a way that only she could.
AKA The three times Aaron doesn't tell Elizabeth off, and the one time he does
Chapter 3/4
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3
-x-
Hi friends,
Here we are - the one where he DOES tell Elizabeth off. Sorry for the slight delay on this, I've not been well and my internet went down last night.
I hope you like this and please, as always, let me know what you think <3

Aaron rolls his neck as he climbs out of the car, mentally making a checklist of what he wants to get done over the weekend. It was a habit Emily always gently made fun of him for, a wry smile on her face as she told him not every second had to be accounted for.
He smiles as he steps into the house, pleased to see that the box that contains the crib is just inside the door. As soon as he saw the email confirming it had been delivered he’d text his wife to say he would take it upstairs to the still partially decorated nursery when he got home. Part of him had imagined he’d walk in the door to find it already up there, Emily’s need for independence one of the many things he’d always loved about her.
She’d been more willing to take a step back and let him help her since they found out she was pregnant. It had surprised him at first. How she agreed to everything the doctor told them about her taking it easy without argument. She’d stopped going away on cases when she was just over 5 months pregnant, a spike in her blood pressure enough to make her doctor ground her. Aaron had said to her one evening when they were curled up in bed, both their hands on her belly as they waited to feel their daughter move, that he was proud of her for how she’d taken it all in her stride. She’d whispered back, as if scared speaking too loudly would jinx something, that she had waited so long for this, had convinced herself it would never happen, that she didn’t want to risk anything.
She was close to 7 months along now the due date they’d been given at Emily’s first scan that had once felt so far away feeling within reach. He was looking forward to seeing her, to spending time with her and Jack, after a few days away on a case.
“Sweetheart, I’m home,” he calls out, dropping his go bag on the floor as he walks further into the house, furrowing his brow when she doesn’t respond. It doesn’t take him long to find her, but he frowns when he does, his concern rising as he immediately picks up on the fact she’s annoyed.
He approaches her carefully, her fury rolling off of her in waves as she paces back and forth in the living room. He’d never dare tell her, but she looked adorable. She’s wearing a t-shirt that used to be his, the material tight around her bump, and a pair of leggings, an outfit she often wore at home now - changing into it from her work clothes the moment she stepped into the house.
As he gets closer he realises she’s muttering to herself, her eyes slightly wild as her jaw flexes, her irritation clear.
“Sweetheart,” he says as he steps into the living room, his presence finally registering as she stops pacing and looks at him.
“Hi,” she says, clearing her throat as she looks at him, her smile not quite reaching her eyes, “When did you get home?”
“A couple of minutes ago,” he says, not mentioning that he’d called for her when he opened the front door, “Is everything okay?”
She huffs out a breath and rolls her eyes, “I spoke to my mother.”
He berates himself for not thinking about it the moment he walked in and saw her pacing. There was only one person on earth who could get to Emily to the point where she was physically irritated. Even with her pregnancy hormones, which had given her more of a short fuse than normal, she was mostly able to keep it together - apart from the one time Derek unknowingly ate her snack one morning in the office. Elizabeth had this ability to undo Emily, to pull apart the walls she’d built around her brick by brick.
He clenches his teeth and gives himself a moment to get through the immediate irritation that rushes through him whilst he wonders what his mother-in-law has done this time, “What happened?”
“She called and we talked about the baby,” she rubs a circle on her belly, “And she said she wants to be there when I give birth.”
It’s the last thing Aaron expects to hear and it makes him furrow his brows, a laugh escaping him before he can stop it, “She wants to do what?”
“We’re talking about the woman who didn’t even come with me to the hospital when I was 7 and had to get my tonsils out, but this she wants to be there for? When I have a person tunnelling out of me?”
Aaron frowns, finally interjecting into her rant, unable to stop himself, “She didn’t go with you to the hospital when you had your tonsils out?”
She sighs and rolls her eyes, her arms crossed and resting on the top of her bump, “The nanny came with me,” she huffs out and she shakes her head, “And that’s not the point I was trying to make. I don’t want her there,” she shrugs, “I don’t even know if I would if we had a ‘normal’ relationship.”
“Em,” he says, stepping closer to her and placing his hand on her back, smiling at the press of her stomach between them, “It’s your decision. If you don’t want her there I won’t let her attempt to guilt you into it.”
She smiles, pressing her lips together in an attempt to hide it, and she raises her eyebrow “You won’t let her?”
“I won’t,” he says, kissing her again, “How did you leave it with her?”
She groans and rests her forehead against his, “I told her I’d think about it, even though I don’t have to,” she pulls back to look at him, “I just want it to be you.”
He nods and runs his fingers through her hair, cupping the back of her head as he holds her in place, “Then it will just be me, you, and her,” he says, placing his hand on her stomach, smiling when he feels the baby kick, “She’s kicking a lot.”
Emily hums and places her hand over his on her belly, shifting it to where she can feel the baby moving even more, an elbow sticking into her ribs as if the little girl was begging for attention.
“She missed her daddy,” Emily replies, “I missed him too.”
“I missed all of you,” he says, dropping a kiss on her forehead before he leads her over to the couch, “Where’s Jack?”
She grunts as she lowers onto the couch, the movement forcing the air from her lungs, “Jess picked him up from school and took him for dinner, he’ll be home soon.”
“Have you eaten?”
She shakes her head and rests against him, wrapping her arms around one of his as she feels him start to move, intent on making sure she ate something before he ever truly relaxed on the couch, “No. But let's sit here for a bit, then I’ll eat whatever healthy crap you pull together for me and baby girl.”
He smiles against her hairline, “Even even if I put brussell sprouts in it?”
She scrunches her nose and looks up at him, her disgust clear, “Don’t push your luck honey.”
___
Two Months Later
She feels nervous. It’s shifting around under her skin, making her restless, itching at a scratch that doesn’t exist as she looks at the time and huffs out a breath.
“There she is Mia,” Aaron says as he walks back into the living room, their 5-day-old daughter against his chest almost impossibly tiny in his hands, “Mommy is right where we left her.”
Emily immediately feels a little calmer the moment she sees her baby, and she playfully rolls her eyes at her husband as he passes Mia over, “Because Daddy told me to stay here whilst he changed your diaper.”
He sits next to them, his smile wide at the sight of his girls together, “You had major surgery 5 days ago, sweetheart,” he says, carefully looping his arm over her shoulder before he pulls her towards him gently, “I’m going to look after both of you.”
She smiles softly and kisses the top of Mia’s head, holding her closer at the mention of her birth. Things hadn’t gone the way she planned at all, and in the end, after a very long labour that ended up stalling, her doctor decided a c-section was the safest thing for her and her baby. It hadn’t been what she wanted but as soon as she was handed her little girl the fear and disappointment disappeared. It was a moment she’d been waiting for much longer than the almost 9 months she’d been pregnant.
She looks up at Aaron and feels her heart clench at the barely concealed fear that still lingers in his eyes. He’d been her rock during labour, the support she’d needed at every awful turn, but she knew him well enough to know he’d barely held himself together at times. Seeing her in pain had always been his Achilles heel. He’d been treating her like she was made of glass ever since, like she was fragile, and she was letting him - partially because she felt like she was. Like she could shatter at the tiniest thing, physically and emotionally exhausted in a way she’d never felt before. She’d let him look after her like this until she felt more like herself again.
Or, at least until Mia was the only one wearing a diaper.
“My mother will be here soon,” she says, resting her cheek on top of Mia’s head, the thought of it making her blow out a shaky breath. Her mother could pick at her insecurities easily when she was at her best, but right now she could barely stand up without needing help from Aaron. He knew she needed the support for this, even though she’d never ask, so he’d made sure Jack was out with Jessica for the afternoon so his attention could be solely on his wife and what she needs.
“Are you okay, Em?” He asks, stroking her cheek, protectiveness sparking in his belly.
She sighs, “Yeah,” she says, smiling tightly at him, “No. I don’t know,” she chuckles humourlessly at herself, “She’s criticised everything I’ve ever done. My degree, my career…marrying you,” she pauses as they exchange a smile, “And I’ve always done my best to take it in my stride. But…if she says something about Mia I don’t think I could take it,” she looks down at the baby contentedly sleeping against her, “I mean look at her Aaron. She’s perfect.”
“I know she is,” he says, kissing Emily’s temple, “She’s just like you,” he adds, and she chuckles and shakes her head at him, “Em, she’s coming to meet her granddaughter,” he says, pushing some of her hair from her face, “She’ll behave.”
She hums and smiles at him, “Why does that kind of sound like a threat?”
He’s cut off from responding, his comment that it absolutely was a threat on the tip of his tongue, as the doorbell rings. He feels Emily tense against him and he kisses her before he stands up, winking at her before he leaves the room.
“You two stay there and look pretty, I’ll be back,” he says as he walks towards the front door. He gets to the door quickly before Elizabeth can ring the doorbell again, not wanting Mia to wake up. He takes a steady breath as he pulls the door open and smiles at his mother-in-law as his eyes meet hers, “Elizabeth, good to see you.”
“You too, Aaron,” she says, stepping into the house and past him, “Congratulations.”
“Thank you,” he replies, closing the door and leading the way to the living room, “They are just through here.”
He pauses in the doorway when Elizabeth steps into the room, giving them a moment alone but lingering just on the perimeter. In any other situation, if his mother-in-law was anyone else, he’s sure this would be a moment full of nothing but joy. A mother watching her little girl holding her own little girl. He had more time than he cared to admit wishing Emily had the mother she’d deserved, but he also knew if she had, if Elizabeth had been who she needed, then Emily wouldn’t be who she was. In a way that felt endlessly selfish, he was glad for it. Grateful Emily’s life had led her straight to him.
He couldn’t imagine his life without her.
“Hi Mom,” Emily says, smiling up at her, her chest warm at the look on her mother’s face, a tender look she had only ever seen a handful of times throughout her life, “This is Mia.”
Elizabeth pauses before she sits down, her breath catching in her chest for a moment before she sits next to Emily, “Hello Mia,” she says, smiling up at Emily, “Can I hold her?”
Emily nods and shifts, covering a wince as she passes the baby over, “Careful with her-”
“Head, I do know how to hold a baby, Emily,” Elizabeth says, raising her eyebrow at her as she settles Mia into the crook of her arm.
Emily throws Aaron a look and he walks over, slipping in next to her on the couch, letting her relax against him. He reaches for her hand and squeezes it tightly, linking their fingers together as she feels herself itching to grab her daughter back from her mother, the need to have Mia with her at all times was something she was still getting used to. It felt instinctual, like something deep inside of her that overtook any time she was separated from her daughter.
She wondered if her mother ever felt the same way. If Elizabeth ever looked down at a tiny newborn version of her and felt the need to pull her into her arms, to just sit there and look at her and wonder at the fact she had come from her.
“She’s so big already,” Elizabeth says, and Emily clenches her teeth, her grip on Aaron’s hand increasing.
Emily knew it was a dig, that it was a comment aimed at the fact she’d put her foot down and said she hadn’t wanted her mother in the hospital when she had Mia. It was a decision she’d only felt more sure of when everything went wrong.
“She’s 6lbs, Mother,” Emily replies, her smile tight, “She’s tiny. She’s actually lost a little weight since she was born.”
It was normal, she knew that, but it didn’t make it any harder to take, especially since nursing Mia hadn’t come easily to her yet. Aaron had, more than once, found both of them crying as she tried to feed her, his reassurances that it was normal, that no matter what they’d be fine, feeling less than helpful when she was half convinced she was failing her daughter.
Elizabeth hums and looks back down at Mia, pulling the blanket wrapped around her back just enough to look at her face properly, “She looks just like you, Emily,” she says, “Right down to your nose, poor thing.”
Emily chokes on a laugh, the sound catching in her chest, as she realises what her mother has said. She doesn’t have a chance to respond, doesn’t have a moment to think about what she would say in response, because Aaron does instead.
He feels his patience snap. His barely there control over it, frayed by the lack of sleep that came with having a newborn and the lingering fear over how Emily’s labour had gone, disappears in a second. Her words from almost a year ago, before she’d fallen pregnant, ringing around his head as he carefully eases her up from him as he stands.
“If we do have a baby, and she ever says anything remotely mean about them or Jack you have my permission to break your promise.”
“You need to leave,” he says firmly, easing Mia out of Elizabeth’s embrace, his back turned to her as he passes the infant back to Emily causing him to miss the confusion that flashes across the older woman’s face.
“Aaron, it was just a joke-” She scoffs, as if he’s being ridiculous, and it just makes him angrier. He turns to look at her and clenches his jaw, his hands on his hips as he shakes his head.
“No,” he says, cutting over her, “You need to leave. I have stood by and let you be rude to Emily because she asked me not to say anything,-”
Emily sighs, wincing as she shifts forward enough to reach out for him, her hand on his arm, squeezing his wrist as she holds Mia to her chest with one hand, “Aaron, honey, it’s okay-”
“It isn’t okay, Em,” he says, his voice softer for a moment as he addresses her, “It’s never been okay but I am done just sitting down and not saying anything,” he turns to look at Elizabeth again, “So you need to leave.”
Elizabeth stands up, her brow furrowed as she crosses her arms over her chest, “I am her mother-”
“Then start acting like it,” he says, his teeth clenched as he tries to keep his voice down, still aware that Mia was in the room, that he never wanted her to see him angry even when she was only a few days old and far too young to understand it, “Otherwise as her husband, I’m not letting you in this house until you do.”
For a moment, he thinks Elizabeth is going to argue with him. He can see familiar anger in her eyes, he’d seen it in Emily’s before, burning and wild and cracking through the walls built tightly around her. Whatever she was going to say, she thinks better of it, instead she clears her throat and grabs her purse, her eye flicking between Emily and Aaron as she steps away.
“It really was a joke,” she says, her lips pressed together and she looks at Emily, “We’ve always joked about it.”
“No, you always have,” Emily says, feeling bolstered by Aaron’s defence of her, his love a foundation she could build her strength on until she could do it by herself again, “I never have,” she swallows thickly, any hope she’d had that this could be nice, that her mother would be who she wanted just this once, gone as quickly as it had appeared, “Aaron’s right, you should leave.”
Elizabeth sighs and shakes her head, her grip on her purse tighter as she walks out of the room. Aaron follows, acting as her shadow as he makes sure that she leaves. He closes the front door behind her and sighs, pressing his palms on the door whilst he breathes in and out slowly, desperate to relieve some of the tension in his shoulders. He gives himself a moment before he heads back into the living room, his hands in his pockets as he avoids eye contact with his wife, any confidence he had that he’d done the right thing gone.
“Well,” Emily says, breaking the silence, “That went as well as I expected it to.”
When he looks at her she’s got a wry smile on her face but he can see the hurt behind it. He walks over and sits on the couch next to her, he places one hand on her thigh and the other on Mia’s back over hers, “I’m sorry sweetheart.”
She hums and looks down at Mia, her eyes flicking over facial features she loves, especially the ones she’d never liked on herself, “For what? Breaking the promise you made or for the fact I have a shitty mother.”
He sighs and rests his forehead against her temple, “Em, I’m sorry-”
“No, you don’t have anything to apologise for. I’m glad you said something. Mia’s only five days old and my mother is already starting…being herself. I’m not going to expose my daughter to that.”
He nods and then kisses the side of her head, running his thumb back and forth on her leg, the material of the leggings soft against his skin, “What do you want to do?”
“I don’t know,” she says honestly, “I need some time to think,” she rests her head on his shoulder, “Thank you for sticking up for us. No one’s ever stuck up for me like that before.”
He chuckles and pulls back to look at her, “You never have to thank me for that.”
She smiles at him, her words trapped in her chest. There was so much she wanted to say but she also just wanted to sit here with her husband and her newborn daughter and enjoy the moment, to sit in the love and joy she’d found and curated all by herself.
“It was really hot,” she says, her smile turning to a smirk as she purposely moves on from the seriousness in the air. He catches on, as he always did, and he smiles wildly, the same smile Jack had - the one she hopes their daughter will have too.
“Yeah?” He asks, raising his eyebrow at her.
She nods and bites her lower lip, looking up at him, “Yeah,” she kisses him, “But I’m sleep deprived and your daughter’s own personal dairy cow right now to store this away for blowjob points. So you’re going to have to remind me of this in approximately five weeks and two days, okay?”
He kisses her, his hand on her cheek as he kisses her again, “I’ll remind you,” he says, smiling before he leans in again, his words lost against her lips, “I promise.”

I love all of your work. I keep trying to imagine dad tommy from fic where his little girl comes home declaring she's got a boyfriend, and him panicking because she's like 6 and he can't scare the little boy without having his wife (the reader) chewing his head for it.
Omg thank you 😊
Okay for context, Florence was born in 1929 and is reader and Tommy’s youngest child (and his favorite of all four).
And i felt the prompt went better by being from Tommy's pov to focus more on Tommy and Florence’s relationship.
Other shelby children: Charlie and Gabriel (the Shelby Boys) and Diane (Diane Elizabeth)
Six years old
Gif by @samcoving
Tumblr media
"Who's your new friend, Flora?" Tommy asked his youngest as he kissed the top of her head and then took his place at the head of the dinner table.
Frankly, Tommy thought it wholly unnecessary that they were using the large dining room they use to host gatherings instead of the more private family dining room.
But Florence Eleanor Shelby had demanded a dinner party for tonight, so he dressed for dinner and promised his wife not to overreact when he learned why.
A promise his wife had bet three shillings he'd break before the first course.
"My boyfriend." She beamed at him.
It took everything in him not to spit the water he had been drinking. He was going to need a drink, but Y/N had a strict don't drink in front of the children or I'll have your guts for garters, or so help me God, Thomas Michael Shelby policy.
"Hello, sir, I'm Andrew Roberts, pleasure to meet you." The little boy said courteously and waited until Tommy acknowledged him to resume eating.
Because in the pantomime that is life, his little girl attached herself to the son of Billy Kimber’s accountant.
Can't scare the boy, can't be rude or else Roberts will see it as a provocation, so he acts like this is just another friend his favorite child has brought over.
"I'm gonna marry him, daddy." Six-year old Florence tells him and you make it worse by indulging her in this fantasy.
The last thing he wants is for one of his children to marry young like his parents and the John did.
"But the girl is six," his wife’s says, "you're worrying for nothing."
"You're wrong, love," he tells her later once the dinner is over.
Six turns to eleven and she and Andrew remain thick as thieves.
She was bold, bolder than her best friend, the Princess Margaret, and Andy Roberts is shy and cautious like Tommy can assume his father was.
Calls him her boyfriend still, and he reminds Y/N that its way past being a phase.
"They're children, Tom" she shakes her head even as she does some last minutes things on the children's matching costumes.
Eleven turns to sixteen and Andrew nervously asks him for permission to ask Florence to a dance.
He has a shotgun on his lap when he gives the teenage boy his answer.
Florence locks herself in her room in tears and his wife shakes her head. "There's no harm in a dance. If you don't let her go, she'll just escape through the window and steal the car again."
So he listens to his wife and the next morning he apologized to his daughter and made her promise she wouldn't do anything stupid.
Sixteen turns to twenty three and they've been featured in everything from Tabloids to Time Magazine as the United Kingdom's entrepreneurial power couple.
Florence had invited them to a dinner party at her place in Mayfair. She had news and she had made him swear on the lives of his five grandchildren (by his three older children) not to overreact.
"Mummy, Daddy, I invited you today because Andy and I have news." She's nervous, but doesn't show it. His little girl had taken over the family businesses (the legal ones)and blossomed into a strong, independent and beautiful woman like her mother.
He knew what was coming.
Thomas Shelby had cornered Andrew Roberts after he bought the engagement ring.
But Roberts had sworn him to secrecy until the tine was right.
"Out with it, girl, your mother's not getting any younger." He tries to lighten the mood at the cost of his wife subtlely kicking him ubder the table.
"We're getting married!" They try to say it in unison, but nervous Andrew had said it first.
"You knew, Tommy?" his wife asked him suprised.
"Known since she was six."

Elizabeth S. Hamilton at the Constitutional Convention, June 1797
Elizabeth Schuyler attended a diplomatic meeting at the age of 6; as a teenager, she hosted politicians solo; her relationship with George Washington predates Alexander Hamilton's. As a married adult, she stood in for Martha Washington, she led the Republican Court in NYC, she led charitable endeavors, and she hosted any number of national and international figures, from bankers to politicians, etc. U.S. presidents through the 1840s paid homage to her. But as so many women of the early Republic were, she was pretty deliberately erased. Particularly excised were the contributions and political activism of the Federalist wives - the amount of influence these women had could not be discussed.
And so by the late 20th century, we have historians writing that ESH didn't like politics and was sickly, usually pregnant, and often absent from her husband, but at least she tried to make a nice cozy environment for the Great Alexander Hamilton to go home and snuggle in, or something like that, as though it didn't occur to these historians that Elizabeth Schuyler likely could have married any number of wealthy, accomplished (and distant relative) men and lived a very comfortable life of luxury in Albany. And yet she looked at the super-charismatic guy who everyone said was brilliant, but with no steady income, not even a lawyer yet and with no ties to Albany, but noted as highly ambitious and said, "yep, he's the one!" Spoiler: she did it because she was ambitious herself and recognized that theirs could be a strong strategic/political partnership, in addition to a strong marriage. (I'm sure it was also good for her ego that he declared himself her best friend after only a few weeks and was so far gone he couldn't remember a military password after an evening with her.)
This erasure led to the common assumption that Elizabeth was not in Philadelphia at the Constitutional Convention in summer 1787. However, statutesandstories.com has posted about new evidence - really, a more careful examination and reading of old documents - that ESH was in Philadelphia in June 1797, and was likely in the city at the time of AH's June 18th speech to the convention. The theory is that she traveled with the Knoxes from NYC to Philadelphia, as she's mentioned in a letter from Knox that she is traveling with them, and she's definitely with AH on June 19th, as they are recorded in a journal/diary at a social engagement also attended by George Washington. Additional conjecture that this letter from AH can be more tightly dated to this period, considering these lines:
I cannot yet determine what will be our stay here and consequently I can make no determinations about my love; but I feel that it will be impossible for me to submit to a long separation however inconvenient it may be to incur the expence which will attend her coming here.
Which may align with EH borrowing money for this travel from her brother-in-law, Stephen van Rensselaer, also possibly more tightly dated to this period.

Although no Hamilton biographers have discussed Eliza’s trip to the Convention in June, historians from Independence National Historic Park (INHP) concluded in the 1980s that Eliza was one of as many as nine wives who likely “attended” the Convention.  Part 4 (pending) will discuss Eliza Hamilton’s relationship with the other eight wives who likely were in Philadelphia during the Convention, including Rufus King’s wife, Mary Alsop King, who was a native New Yorker.
This makes total sense to me - not just the documentation presented, but that she would have shown up to perform soft politicking/diplomacy around her husband's activities, in addition to a possible role assisting him in the drafting and editing of his speech. The daughter of Philip Schuyler and Catharine Van Rensselaer wasn't going to sit in NYC on the sidelines for this - she bolstered Hamilton not only in the ways she was personally helpful to him (emotionally, but also going over his writings and speeches with him), but through her representation of the wealthy Dutch-American interests, showing that Hamilton was a junior delegate from NY with a lot of political and financial power backing him.
As the blog states:
Yet it remains possible that Eliza may have helped her husband prepare for his one-of-a-kind speech on June 18. Moreover, it is felt that the possibility of informal, behind-the-scenes contributions by Eliza cries out for further examination.
Cause ya know, she's not discussing new threads for her needlework and thoughts on child-weaning at all these social gatherings or standing in for Martha Washington and chatting with Martha's husband about the best ways to make pastry.
And I just love if she helped advise him on a speech that only the "rich and well-born" can make a strong government. I'm sure they felt quite haughty and proud and said, "let's make another baby!" (James Alexander Hamilton was born around 9 months later.)
