Grey and Teal Wave Hood Initial Post

So another SCA project, this time a medieval hood, made using this pattern. The outer shell is made of a grey linen that I made out of a pillowcase I got from Goodwill. The inner lining is going to be made from a teal cotton remnant from a tunica I made a while back, but I haven't cut or stitched that yet, as I've been working on the emborider!

As you can see, it's a full border of a wave design, going around the bottom edge. I used stick and stitch to mark that first line, and I'll dissolve it once the embroidery is done. It's 11 different colors total, and I'm currently on the 6th line.

Here you can see where I did a short test section of the full colorway. It's all being done with backstiches, so it's not difficult work, simply time consuming

Initial Post

Due to the cyclone, my initial post was slightly delayed. However, as some content was prepared last week, I hope it still qualifies. While brainstorming my elevator pitch, I was inspired by the book’s first chapter: "Look at other games for inspiration as long as you don’t fall back on all of them" This reminded me of watching YouTubers play "I Wanna" as a child, a game demanding intense focus, mastery of mechanics, and precise timing for jumps and dashes. Combining this with my love for anime, I would like to create a hardcore platformer merging these passions. I’ll continue updating with more content including pitch throughout the day.

Not to preach to the choir but I wonder if people generally realize that AI models like ChatGPT aren't, like, sifting through documented information when you ask it particular questions. If you ask it a question, it's not sifting through relevant documentation to find your answer, it is using an intensely inefficient method of guesswork that has just gone through so many repeated cycles that it usually, sometimes, can say the right thing when prompted. It is effectively a program that simulates monkeys on a typewriter at a mass scale until it finds sets of words that the user says "yes, that's right" to enough times. I feel like if it was explained in this less flattering way to investors it wouldn't be nearly as funded as it is lmao. It is objectively an extremely impressive technology given what it has managed to accomplish with such a roundabout and brain-dead method of getting there, but it's also a roundabout, brain-dead method of getting there. It is inefficient, pure and simple.

He reminds her of a sleeping, dreaming, dog the way he moves. Whimpering and limbs jerking. He's curled around her from behind. She grabs his much larger hand in hers and squeezes it gently. Reassures him that she's here. The hand clutches hers desperately almost painfully. She doesn't put up with discomfort for him but she allows him to squeeze her hand like that then. His movements still.

He wakes next day baffled that he slept through the whole night. Konrad Curze has, not once in his whole life, slept through the night without waking. His cheeks are unusually warm. He keeps sleeping through the night with her.

He had slinked into her quarters once when sleeping seperately and asked, like a child, if they could share a bed because of his nightmares. He had been beyond embarrassed to ask this. Her only concern had been that her bed would be to small for him to be comfortable. She could sleep in his. In truth he could also coil up and be comfortable, he had slept worse places. She had welcomed him with open arms. Both litterally and figuratively.

It's common for him to shake when experiencing a form of physical affection he is unused to. Whimpering and shaking during a cuddle. When she runs her fingers through his hair.

This happens with exceptionally gently or "mild" things too. He's endured violence and torture and a kiss on the cheek has him trembling. The touch nothing "severe", but ironically it is the very fact that it IS gentle that breaks him.

The first time they have sex he shakes too. So much and so violently that she had to stop and reaffirm that he still wanted this because he looked panicking. He does, he burns for it, he's just not used to affection and he still can't believe that she wants him. That anyone does.

Watermelon Dress Initial Post

So, I had this left over bright pink fabric from a finished project, and some lovely green material I hadn't done anything with, and I decided to put them together to make a watermelon dress!

This is a medieval style dress, and I do plan to wear it to SCA events.

In terms of scope, I'm planning on adding a green border to the bottom, with a white and green trim on that seam line to look like rind. I also plan to add an oval collar of pink with a lighter green edge to look like a slice of watermelon with a bite taken out where the neck hole is, and add some pink slightly dagged cuffs to the ends to the sleeves. I also plan to do a bunch of embroidery, like black ermine spots as watermelon seeds on all the pink panels, lighter green lines going up the green skirt panels, and maybe outlines of watermelon vines and leaves on the bodice.

I'm super excited to see where this ends up!
