Ultimately the problem with "AI" is that it exists in a system that does not serve the populace, but a tiny handfull of the exorbitantly wealthy. Predictive text is going to be cheaper than human writing unless there is regulation and collective action, and that means human writing will be pushed out of the public sphere. Quibbling about soul or philosophizing about AI are distractions in the conversation.

It is not, as a rule, by means of useful inventions, or of any other action which increases the general wealth of the community, that men amass fortunes; it is much more often by skill in exploiting or circumventing others.

Power Metal reddit currently has a discussion about Nuclear Blast, about what has changed with them and why, and man I have learned a lot of disturbing facts about what has happened there in the past 5 years. Someone posted an in-depth investigative article about it (from November 2021), which you should read if you speak German and are interested, otherwise or if it's too long here are the main points...
If you're into Nightwish, Sabaton, Blind Guardian etc., this is relevant information.
In 2018, the French Believe Music, which is a large corporation that mainly specializes in digital distribution, became majority owner of NB
Believe is not really interested in physical media like CDs and vinyls even though the people who worked at NB told their new corporate overlords that metal fans like physical media, both because many fans of especially the oldest and most successful bands are 50+ and because it's more ingrained in the subculture. Believe doesn't care and doesn't listen. They have their experiences from pop and hip-hop, where phone-based streaming subscriptions are the norm, and that's all they want to know. They are also ignoring printed magazines and don't advertise there much anymore.
Less focus on physical media means that bands now earn less, that they rank less highly in album charts, which in turn means that they lose negotiation power when they try to plan tours and negotiate with venues etc., because they "look" less successful
Believe has been dealing with this by signing mainly bands that are easy to market digitally and ending co-operations with bands that aren't, even ones that had been with NB for decades (like Rage and Nile, who went to Napalm)
The personal cooperation between bands and NB has really suffered, everything is more profit-oriented and impersonal, a lot of budgets have been decreased and the real decisions are made by Believe in Paris, not by any specific NB team
Believe has been stock market traded since 2021. Their stock value went down at first, was at about the price it had started out at when the article was written - I looked it up and in March 23 it's down 40% from its original value. Ouch.
The original founder of NB started a new label, Atomic Fire, and took "Amorphis, Helloween, Opeth, Sonata Arctica, Meshuggah, Primal Fear, Agnostic Front, Rise Of The Northstar, Silver Lake, White Stones and Michael Schenker Group" with him, also because Believe didn't really do much to keep many of these bands
It's certainly interesting to learn about, also because I had already wondered if NB, and some of their bands, had intentionally taken a more "commercial" approach in recent years, but I didn't know about the Believe thing. I thought it maybe had something to do with losses from the pandemic or something. Turns out they have a new owner.

hate tiktok popularizing the idea that we should watch short videos in full on repeat instead of have a time progress bar.
I hate having to watch a whole video over and over again because I wanted to see something I didn't quite catch at the end. let me fast forward!!! let me scroll through!!! let me go back!!! let me press an actual pause button not just hold my screen !!!!!!!!!!!

Just saying that tumblr now trains ai on ppls art if you don't opt out so be careful please. Just a heads up if you haven't seen the warning posts. Also you're one of my favorite blog people on here and I really like your art, especially your Imogen redesign it's straight up better than official art in my personal opinion. Just more interesting to look at
yea i clicked the turn-off button on my blogs i post original content. im too low spoons to do it for all of them but theyre mostly organised reblog blogs anyway. i saw people say they wont post here anymore but im too tired to figure out something else. if an AI is trained on my wonky art then i guess thats funny and im sure the AI bros will love it when their anime girls emerge with hairy legs and long noses and broken teeth . too tired to care much right now , on a personal scale. on a bigger scale i hate capitalism and its sad everything is going to shit except for some cool things like mountains and songs i like and artists that just keep going anyway . remember ai will never be able to take you over if you make physical art with your hands . thats ours forever . make a little zine
thank you also, i appreciate that <3 i forgot i did that redesign and im glad u like it , i think it turned out cool so thank u ^_^

I watched Robots(2005) a lot as a kid so it's no wonder I grew up to be anti-capitalist
The movie's 18 years old so if you haven't seen it, go do so. Anyway, for context, the film takes place in a world where robots are the dominant species. When your body breaks down, you can buy spare parts to fix yourself, effectively becoming immortal(but that's not important). What's important is that their society originally didn't throw people away for breaking down(getting older). By the time our hero enters the picture, an evil CEO has stopped the production of spare parts to make upgrades. These upgrades are made from junk and scrapped robots, or robots who couldn't find spare parts and basically died or were dying. Upgrades completely replace your body, making you monochrome and uniform; they're also expensive. It's subtle but all the poor robots are colorful while the rich ones are usually shades of gray and black with some brown thrown in. The poor robots also come in various shapes and sizes, with some being less humanoid in design but still having personality. The main character (voiced by Ewan McGregor) is an inventor and by extension, a robo-doctor, giving out free healthcare until he realizes he needs to overhaul the system cuz he can't fix everybody in a reasonable amount of time.
TLDR: To summarize the anti-capitalist themes of the movie ROBOTS (2005), the Robot world is post-scarcity but scarcity was artificially created for money's sake. Our hero has to defeat an evil CEO so people can come before profits once again.
Also, the main character grew up watching a TV show that showed off new inventions and how they helped society (this inspires him to invent). By the time, he's an adult, no new inventions are being introduced cuz-- surprise!-- Capitalism doesn't inspire innovation, it stifles innovation cuz once it finds a money-making mine, it digs and digs until it runs out; then and only then does it care to look for innovation.

is there really even real nature anymore?
sure, there are woods, and parks, and massive wild places. sure there are fields. it’s all owned, state or otherwise.
i wish i could live in a time where i could walk through boundless meadows, enter random copses that aren’t only there because nobody’s cut them down yet. i wish i could live in a time where you could stumble across ruins and small villages and paths but not have to follow a path to get there.
everything now? directions, roads, open hours, PRIVATE signs. like, you can own land? you think you can just look at this big wide stretch of ecosystems and nature and beauty and peace, and pay someone with metals extracted from the earth itself to say ‘this is mine now. nobody else is allowed on this particular patch of earth’, and proceed to destroy all those ecosystems and habitats, and plant swathes of one crop, or rip up the earth to replace with concrete, and more people, and suffering.
who would want this?
why do we need to prioritise a few material benefits?
why can’t we just walk on the earth? why can’t everything just be?
