Okay, so a couple of summers back both my PS4 controllers started getting the ever annoying stick drift (my silver on the left stick and blue on the right hilariously enough). And while I got a new controller in to replace it as a bday present, I never actually tossed either of them. Mostly because they were still usable as back ups in certain games. Like my blue was awful in any game that used camera controls, but in a game or platformer like crash it worked just fine, while the other was fine in any 3d game but in a 2d style then movement was almost impossible (like I still remember jumping over a gap only to lose my jump momentum half way through and falling to my death).
But that brings me to today. In my travels of trying to fix my PS2 controller hilariously enough, I found out that you can actually buy replacement joystick pieces and just replace them yourselves. Assuming you have a soldering gun and equipment of course.
So I got a couple of those parts and ordered a little soldering kit online, and I'm all ready to try and see i can't get my controllers working back at 100% again.
Wish me luck!

So I've started my "Intro to Computing" class for college, and I'm doing the reading. I'm rather familiar with computers and tech, but being self taught I don't tend to know the official names for things
Today I have learned that the system of grooves in a motherboard connecting data and power is collectively called the "Bus", reaching to other "Terminals" and this has brought me indescribable amounts of joy

My RAM sticks came today so I’m ready to give srwe another try soon. My computer started lagging when I opened it the first time and I was like immediately no. I’m so scared of fucking up this PC again. Especially not right before the season starts. So, I quadrupled my ram and now I feel like it’s a little safer lol.

My PC crashed while I was playing The Sims 3 and it turns out I have mega RAM issues (not sure if caused by that stupidly unoptimised game (would be very on brand) or something else I didn't notice because I have four 16GB sticks and haven't done any resource-intense work with the PC in a while) and I'm currently trying to figure out what's wrong, how it happened, how I can fix it and how I can prevent it happening again.
Shout out to EVERY article telling me to test my RAM sticks in another PC, like I just HAVE ONE hanging around. To be fair, I am a massive hoarder and have many old devices but surely the POINT of having a PC is that you just replace components? Who HOARDS PCs? Whoever they are, I guess I need to get on their level.
And NO I am absolutely NOT going to hit up my few local friends who have PCs and ask them to dismantle their work tools so I can shove in my possibly fucked up components and see if anything explodes (exaggeration, obviously, but still).

You're more amazing than a spell
Responding to this ask from my NEW COMPUTER!! It only took 24 hours to get it working! It's running Linux so there's numerous annoyances but apparently there's ways to get Windows programs working on Linux, one of which is built into Steam, and Ultrakill loads so fast and looks so good and runs so well!
... And I haven't even put the graphics card in yet
