I know your art (which is bedazzling, btw!) is primarily about staroba, but I gotta ask. How is my favorite “vampire”, Dalv doing in your Lucky Clover AU?

First of all, thank you so much! I know I tend to hyperfocus on the Staroba and Clover end of the AU, given my obvious bias LOL. But it was about time I designed Dalv and Martlet, so two for one special!

Dalv is in his late 30s and doing quite a bit better! He's still quite introverted, but has more of a social life in Snowdin! In the time that's passed since Clover chose to live in the Underground, he's become a very successful children's book author and illustrator and gains a ton of joy from that. Overall he's living a bit more of a quiet and peaceful life despite his past struggles, but he's quite content with that! He still in contact with Clover and the others and they visit him fairly often.

Martlet is in her early 30s, and she's just as energetic and spry as ever! She still has some scatter brained tendencies, but she's a lot more responsible and a lot more independent now. She also still lives in Snowdin, though she flies to the Oasis Valley like, daily, to see her buddy Clover LOL. She quit her job with the Royal Guard and took up carpentry, and is successfully running her own independent business! She's upbeat and cheerful, but she generally tries to keep a low profile in Snowdin. Despite it being quite a few years, there's still some rumours and talk about why a Royal Guard in Snowdin suddenly quit her position...

Wanted to show support by sending an ask/request, but since i'm in the middle of an art piece i can't really think of much to request, so i thought I'd ask if you have any specific rules or preferences when someone makes a request for anyone else whom may be wondering, i'll also take this as a chance to ask who your favorite characters are in twisted wonderland since you have open that door- or coffin if you will

Thanks for the support! I go back to work tomorrow but I'll be off towards the end of the week so I'm hoping to catch up by then if there's anything remaining. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any real rules or preferences but I would say basic things for me like not being rude with a request and I don't do familial/pseudo-familial ship requests (so no Idia x Reader x Ortho or Silver x Reader x Lilia). Yandere is not necessarily off the table at this time. I just don't know if it's in my wheelhouse of words. I'm finding all my words again. My wheelhouse has long been abandoned. Biggest thing for me? I'll be taking liberties with the animalistic characteristics for characters like Malleus, Ruggie, Jack, and Leona. That's just something I want to poke at. As for my faves (in no particular order) 1) Azul ---> He tries so hard to be smarmy but it's like looking at a chubby-cheeked baby trying to be a menace and I CAN'T!! Plus, I like purple >.>. And the glasses are a bonus, too 2) Floyd --> in truth, a little too much energy but admire his spirit. He's a very interesting character to me (nuances and such). I also hate mushrooms. 3) Trey Clover ---> Feed me dough daddy. That is all. 4) Malleus --> Big, tall man with dark hair and TEETH? Yes. He gives me the vibes of: 'looks like he would kill you and will kill you' and 'but I just a baby 🥹' 5) Ruggie --> Baby tries so hard. He's such a good bean. I relate to his struggles so much. 6) Idia/Lilia --> Can't really separate them so they're tied. I was a big fan of Leviathan and Idia hits a lot of those points for me. I'd really like to see him get a few more characteristics but I think even with his introvert status they've given him decent growth. I, too, am an introvert but too poor to whale. For Lilia, it's just the mischievous pepaw thing for me. Love me some pepaw. 7) Rook --> I just think he's neat.

Origin of your blog title: I really like clovers, and any wildflower really. One of my book collections that I add to on a whim is just field identification books of wildflowers. So it didn't need to be alsike clover specifically, I just think they look neat! :D

OTPs: Howl/Sophie, Katniss/Peeta, Miri Larendaughter/Peder Doterson, etc... (I don't have that many idk)

Favorite game: Ooh, hmmm I don't know! I like riddles, like Green Glass Door (mostly in giving that riddle to small children) or lateral thinking puzzles. Other than that maybe Bananagrams?

Favorite color: Deep navy blue! Though forest green is a close second :)

What song is currently stuck inside your head? Irish Eyes by Rose Betts! I love that it's got so many family members speaking to the singer about lovely traits that she has. I think it is a kind and slightly silly song.

Weirdest habit: I gesture almost constantly in comfortable conversation. I am basically mirroring what I communicate with my words in the way I move my hands and torso. (I learned this by analyzing a video of myself for class work, I would not have realized how constantly I gesture otherwise)

Hobbies: So many! I oscillate between them in phases. The main categories are art (sketching and painting in watercolor and gouache!), fiber arts (sewing, crochet, embroidery, knitting, weaving, etc.), and creative writing! And learning languages, but that only sort of counts.

What’s your profession? linguist

Dream job? Teaching in some capacity, I think. But if I'm shooting for the moon, I want to get involved in language revitalization in low-resource language communities. That would probably involve studying the language in depth and developing language curricula for children and adults, working in collaboration with the community members. It would be hard, but it's a cause that is important to me and I would love to teach in that capacity.

Something you’re good at: singing harmonies, giving people very specific compliments, and approaching difficult situations joyfully.

Something you’re bad at: remembering to eat food :( I get too excited about literally anything else in my life. I have a system for remembering, don't worry! It just takes more work for me.

Something you love: My friends, and the beauty I see in their souls. There is something utterly breathtaking about the virtues I see in my friends, like little reflections of God's image.

Something you could talk about for hours off the cuff: Languages, folk tales and mythology in various parts of the world, and fiber arts history!

Something you hate: when people try to trick you into contradicting yourself so that they can say your worldview is false (and their worldview is the right one, of course). Just agree to disagree if we can't be on the same page, it's mean-spirited to try to "win" in that conversation.

Something you forget: I forget that the color orange exists sometimes.

Something you collect: language dictionaries! And as mentioned before, wildflower field identification guides.

Love language: quality time and acts of service/words of affirmation tied in second place :)

Favorite movie: Howl's Moving Castle is one of the most watched for me!

Favorite food: traditional Japanese cooking! Specifically not pop culture foods like ramen. More like stews and potato stir fries and bitter melon sauteed with pork. Farm food! Veggies!

Favorite animal: Sea otters! So cute, and smart, and the favorite rock thing gets me.

What were you like as a child? Very introverted, read almost constantly. Also, somewhat tomboyish in style but very quiet and yet loved meeting every single new kid in any function where I was a regular attender.

Favorite subject at school: English! I got to nerd out about grammar. Makes sense that my career is going the way that it is.

Least favorite subject: Plane Geometry. proofs still feel so overly convoluted to me.

Best character trait? I am not sure what would stand out to others, but I tend to be very joyful and resilient in hardship through that joy. The bad parts of life are not the end of all things, and I carry hope that it will be better.

Worst character trait: I can be overly rigid in my application of rules, and therefore judgmental of others who do not follow the same internal compass. I need to learn the wisdom of having my integrity while still lovingly bearing with others. It's a hard balance.

If you could change any detail of your life right now, what would it be? That I could figure out my blood pressure issues and subsequently my migraine problem :(

If you could travel in time, who would you meet? I'm not sure! Maybe J.R.R. Tolkien, if only to chat about philology (precursor to modern linguistics!) and Beowulf with him. I would love to hear him talk about Old English!

BABA CHOPS

Like her toyline description says, Baba's an introvert who hates going outside because it means she'll have to socialize. So she doesn't go outside unless it's absolutely necessary (eg., she needs to buy something from the store).

Of all the nightmare critters, she's closest with Poe and Maggie Mako. Poe because she relates to them the most (they're goth kiddos~), and Maggie because... well, Maggie has a tendency to invite herself into others' homes to eat their sugary food, so she just grew used to Maggie over time. She even sets aside some sweets specifically for her whenever she drops by.

She uses her own shedded/sheared wool to make sweaters and blankets as a hobby, and they're very warm! She's even gifted some of said sweaters to her friends.

She lives in a barn! It's got lots of locks on it's doors though, to keep others out.

Her favourite foods in the world are grass, pumpkin, and those weird pink clover flower things! I'd also say that she's a vegetarian, in the sense that she won't eat any kind of meat.

SIMON SMOKE

If there was a school in Playland (the land where Playtime Co.'s whole animated show is set), he'd fit the 'most popular boy in school' trope, and be a grade-a troublemaker.

He lives in a big fancy castle, much like how CraftyCorn lives in a tower/castle in the official concept art!

Speaking of Craftycorn, he has a crush on her. But he primarily likes her for her looks and artistic talents, and not for Craftycorn herself as a person.

He can breathe fire, as you would expect! But when he gets sick, he loses control of said fire breath (like sneezing out flames for examples). His fire also gets bigger and shoots out of his nose when he's angry.

He hates the smiling critters as you'd expect, but he especially despises that annoying chicken kid.

MAGGIE MAKO

She's a bit of a klutz when walking on dry land, but is an excellent swimmer.

Her home is literally a shipwreck at the bottom of the bay just off of Playland's beach. There's an inside joke among the Nightmare critters about her being the one to have sunk the ship in question (she didn't, obviously; it was always there).

SHE LOVES ROCK MUSIC!

She cares a lot about her dental hygeine, especially since she eats a lot of sugary sweets and meaty stuff. In fact, she brushes her teeth three times a day rather than the usual two (once in the morning, a second time in the afternoon, and then a third time at night).

BOXY BOO

He is the local prankmaster, having a penchant for playing jokes and tricks on the others. It's all in good fun though. The most typical prank victims of his are all the smiling critters... minus CraftyCorn, because of how sensitive she is.

Due to his springy limbs, he's a bit clumsy at walking. So he just hops to get around.

HE IS A MENACE ON APRIL FOOLS' DAY. Like, when it rolls around, he sets up a bunch of pranks for everyone to fall for. The others call this a 'prankapocalypse'.

He's friends with Baby Long Legs (Mommy Long Legs' child), and they have a very Tigger and Roo kind of relationship.

Character ref I did for art fight back in July and seemingly forgot to post here. Whoops! But anyhoo, meet Olive! A teenage photographer who unwittingly becomes somewhat of a paranormal investigator.

Expanded bio/backstory under the cut:

"Olive is an introverted teen with a love for photography. She often journeys out into the woods that surround her town, snapping photos and exploring. She used to consider herself a skeptic; chalking up the local legend of a monster lurking in the woods as nothing more than old folklore being used to stir up tourism.

That is, until she went into the woods one day and crossed paths with the unexplainable. The encounter rattled her to her core and now she finds herself becoming the superstitious sort, knocking on wood, avoiding stepping on cracks, and wearing a lucky clover necklace. Yet still, she dares to brave the woods. She's terrified of what she saw, but a part of her is more terrified by the thought of never seeing it again.

Why don't you tell us some general facts about your puppet protagonists? It doesn't have to be related to the story, stuff like their personalities, interests, hobbies, etc will do just fine!

Ooh I’d love to!

So Aries is this very awkward girl in her 20s, she’s very introverted and gets nervous easily but she’s also very energetic and passionate, she just really likes creating strange art and expressing herself and all of her thoughts and ideas. She tends to see things through a creative perspective, like narrating her thoughts or illuminating the room a certain way so that it matches the tone of the ‘scene’. Her ‘art’ can either consist of a 3 hour long film she wrote herself or a youtube video of her using dynamite and blowing herself up on accident, it’s all art to her. She really likes doing dangerous stunts or just dangerous things in general, she’s a sock puppet so she doesn’t get hurt, but in general she doesn’t really do her day to day life in a regular way, she always comes up with new ways to do her daily routine, like one day she goes down the stairs walking backwards so another day she goes downstairs while holding two knives or something. I just find the concept of an extremely socially awkward character also being the energetic strange character really funny, she has such a hard time holding a conversation but she has no problem being launched out of a cannon

Axe is a bit of the opposite, they are a very average person to the point where it reaches absurdity. They really like the most normal activities ever, they find monotony thrilling, they just really like being ‘boring’. But aside from that they have their occasional strange stuff they like to do, it’s always very out of nowhere, like they can talk about a very normal morning routine and then say something you really don’t expect like ‘I really like waking up and eating my breakfast, then brushing my teeth, then read my neighbors’s mail and make sure they don’t see me this time, then watch TV-‘

They are twins! Axe is older by a couple of seconds

Aries likes writing and acting, Axe prefers recording and editing but sometimes they have a couple of roles in Aries’s films and videos. Art is Aries’s passion, it’s not really Axe’s, they just like being around their sister, Axe doesn’t really have any big thing they are super passionate about, they just enjoy the little things in life, and the very strange ones.

trey obviously would love a kind and caring partner, but he understands that being a "cinnamon roll" all the time can be.. a bit tiring. trust him, he gets it, he's basically an older brother figure to all of his underclassmen and it can be hard to stay calm and chill because of how chaotic the younger students can be. so yes, expect trey to be that type of person who would give you advice and who would tell you to take a break when he himself refuses to do so and can't follow his own advice.

it's okay to not have that many interests as long as what you do makes you happy. like, sure, trey is into baking and he's in the science club but also.. he literally counts brushing his teeth as a hobby. so yeah, he wouldn't think any less of you and he actually would love to know more about your interests. maybe you two can do some things together, like listening to music or dancing. also, if you need help with homework or anything like that, you can ask him and even though he may say that he's busy, he would still try his best to find time for you. actually, he may even say no to other students who need his help if it's not something urgent, so that he can spend more time with you.

- opposite! Nickel cannot tell when someone is being sarcastic and has a very hard time with tone. Opposite! Balloon doesn't like him at first due to this but eventually comes to realize that Nickel just is Like That and is from then on very defensive about him, almost to a protective point

- opposite! Knife appears sweet and kind, always being nice to others, but he uses this to his advantage. He lulls others into a false sense of security and then backstabs them once he's done using them. Those who fell for his trick have a hard time getting through to other people about it because he feigns innocence

- Lemonade, aka Opposite! OJ, is actually named Lemon Juice, but he HATES it when people call him that. He cheats at the end of season 1 to get the prize and Mepad allows it to happen. Lemonade acts affectionate to Himalayan Salt(Opposite! Salt) but really does NOT treat her right. Printer paper (Opposite! Paper) is complacent in being his handyman in Casa De Limonada (this au's hotel oj) and as his name suggests, excels in paperwork. Printer paper, while it seems like he's completely emotionless, loves his job and has developed a crush on Lemonade (Printer paper wishes he'd pay attention to him more).

- Opposite! Clover, in addition to being botanically accurate to true trefolium as opposed to her canon wood sorrel counterpart, is a masochist and has horrible luck. She doesn’t know why Nickel likes her so much.

- Opposite! Paintbrush is a whirlwind of energy at all times. They're seen stickerbombing, spray painting, or otherwise doing art at all times, and can never ever sit still for more than a few minutes. Mepad gets frustrated with their impatience often. Opposite! Lightbulb tries her best to reign in Paintbrush and often helps ground them down to reality. Opposite! Lightbulb often comes off as pessimistic and will also work themselves to a point where they become Burnt Out, where they're a lethargic and depressive state.

- Opposite bow is uninteresting and does not want to be here. She tries to leave the competition multiple times but Murphy's law prevents her every time, sometimes causing her team to win.

- Opposite! Test Tube doesn't work on projects for longer than 1 week and is always constantly doing things. She's a known vandal and pyromaniac. She gets along well with others and basically is the extrovert who adopts an introverted friend, the introvert in question being Opposite! Fan. Opposite! Fan doesn't know anything about anyone and is often very timid and closed off from others. He comes off as mean sometimes but doesn't realize it.

- Opposite! Candle is a Karen. Gilded Teaspoon (opposite! Silver spoon) is French and hates her.

- Opposite! Dr. Fizz, Dr. Spark, a can of sparkling water, commits medical malpractice. Opposite! Yin finds him cool, while Opposite! Yang is terrified of him.

- Opposite! Yin-Yang differs greatly as opposed to just them swapping personalities. Yang is quiet and timid, often finding it hard for him to speak his mind. Yang is very sweet once you get to know him, but he will have a hard time standing his ground if someone is mistreating him. Yin often is overprotective of Yang because of this. Yin comes off as bossy and mean, but in reality he just wants to protect Yang. Yin, while not very loud either, loves horror movies and pranking people.
