still thinking about how one of my first yyh meta posts got reblogged onto an sjw cringe comp blog in the year of our woke 2022. truly tumblr dot com, the last bastion of progressivism, has fallen (<- sarcasm) and also i'm kinda baffled that they didn't choose like. me putting yusuke in a skirt or something
#the post was a joke about how sensui might've been lackluster/bad DID rep i liked that all 7 of them were on board with wiping out humanity#like a LOT of my yyh content would make really good fodder for this kind of blog and they went for THAT?? damn#i could probably run a better sjw fail blog than them. i won't bc i choose to spend my time on equally unproductive yet nicer things but#like. guys my he/him nb bi arospec yusuke content is RIGHT THERE. the trans hiei stuff. the kuwameshi rants GUYS IM PRACTICALLY#SPOONFEEDING YOU DELICIOUS NUTRITIOUS CONTENT AND YOU CONTINUE TO SHOVEL DIRT IN YOUR MOUTH INSTEAD#note: i don't think i've actually posted about yusuke being arospec but it might actually be my strongest hc about him#nb yusuke is mostly bc it makes me happy and a tiny bit bc of his approach to gender social norms and group divisions#i think he would think gender is stupid yknow? why the hell should he be a man just bc a bunch of ppl decided it for him?#i think it touches on his anti-authority + anti-chivalry thing well. he has a certain kind of openmindedness to him (emphasis on 'certain#kind' there) visible in his approach to fighters and demon-human relations#bi yusuke is bc he has some of the most 'yeah obv i'd fuck a dude guys are hot. this is an opinion everyone has' energy i've ever seen#but i think arospec yusuke touches on his arc (esp his relationship with keiko) much more prominently#anyway i think it only ended up on there bc someone rbed it talking about a limitation in my perspective (judging 90s rep by 2022 standards#and while i think the points raised were largely valid the guy who made them seems to have been in that kinda circle#also this post reminded me that i (probably?) haven't made a joke on here i've been making to myself for years so im gonna go post that now#anyway most of you weren't around for that so i thought this would be a fun bit of lore to share

Imagine Crossdresser! reader passing out during an interview live while the rest of the team watches it lol
🌱🩷: I wrote something similar to what your request is! Hope you like it🩷
Warnings: Reader uses she/her, but she is crossdressing as a guy, keep that in mind! Requests are open
⚽️Blue Lock belongs to Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura ⚽️
'This is so annoying. And I can already imagine the jokes Ness and Kaiser will be making at my expense for this interview.' (Y/n) thought as she glanced at one of the cameras. It took everything in her willpower not to yawn as she knew everyone who follows BBLKTV was watching this. The sleep-deprivation pretty much stopped any nervousness she could feel at the moment. The past few weeks weren't that kind to her, from the constant back and forth between Rin and Shidou's fights, watching over Kunigami and the rest of Blue locks BM players, to her parents and the JFA scolding her to be on her best behavior, (Y/n) was ready to call the quits.
'It's like I am their parent or something.' She thought as the interviewer entered the room.
'Not to mention that my period is about to start soon. Do I have any pads left?' The girl thought, looking over at Anri, who was standing behind the camera and sending her a thumbs up.
"Hello, (L/n). I will be interviewing you today, thanks for taking the time of your day for this." The man said warmly, causing (Y/n) to give him back a small smile.
"Thank you for inviting me, Nihei-san. It's a honor to be here." The girl got up and bowed at the man before sitting down again.
'All this media training will be the end of me.' The girl thought as she looked back at the man, who let out a sigh of relief.
'Thank God it's not another Itoshi Sae situation.' The man thought as he looked through his papers.
"So, you don't need to be nervous or anything. The questions are very easy and you can take your time to answer them, there is no time limit or anything. And, the cameras are filming right now, just a warning." Nihei said as he pointed at the camera behind him. (Y/n) slowly nodded her head, blinking the blurriness away and focusing back on the man.
"Of course. Thank you very much, I will keep the things in mind. And the staff already warned me about the cameras as well, I am very greatful for that."
'The amount of times I would have yawned...'
"Alright, let's start then. Ok?"
"Of course."
Back at Blue Lock...
"Kaiser, I swear if you don't move away I will kick you." Kunigami warned as the blonde smirked, still standing in front to the TV.
"I don't know. I like it here a lot." Isagi rolled his eyes as Yukimiya and Kurona sighed in annoyance, while Hiori was whispering something to Gagamaru.
"Nobody wants to see your flat ass, Kaiser."
"His ass isn't flat, Yoichi!"
"Shut up, Ness!" Noa was about to interject, but stopped when he saw Hiori and Gagamaru tackle the blonde to the ground.
"Shut it! (Y/n) is speaking!" Yukimiya yelled as Isagi and Kurona kept their focus on the TV.
"So, how was your experience with Bastard München so far? The fans would like to hear from the player who is in that stratum now."
"It's been great so far. I am grateful that we have a coach as experienced as Noel Noa to help us, and I am happy to I am able to play withgreat teammates. Especially the ones from Blue lock, they all progressed tremendously." (Y/n) answered back as the boys blushed a little.
"Hahaha, what can I say. I did progress quite good, actually." Yukimiya boasted as Hiori chimed in.
"So did I. (Y/n) even said he was proud of Isagi and I after the Ubers match."
"Right. It's even better for me since (Y/n) has seen my developments from the beginning." Isagi added in as Kurona thought over his words.
"(Y/n) has said the same thing to me 2 nights ago. He was even sad that I couldn't continue playing for the rest of the Uvers match."
"I got compliments on blocking Barou's shots as well! It felt really nice." Gagamaru admitted. Kunigami cleared his throat, looking nervous to everyone's surprise.
"I got told that my defense got better after the Barcha match."
Ness and Kaiser kept quiet as they spoke about the player, feeling a little jealous that they never got any compliments.
"Whatever. He probably only compliments the Blue Lock players." Kaiser rolled his eyes.
"Not really. I got complimented as well. (Y/n) also added in he likes my hair." Grim told Kaiser.
"Same for me. He complimented me after the Manshine match since my passes helped him a lot to score his 2nd goal then." Sachs added in.
"What?!" Kaiser asked in disbelief, then looked at Gesner.
"And you?"
"He complimented me on my strength when we were both on the gym." Gesner said nervously as Kaiser looked at the trio as if they had betrayed him.
"This isn't fair..." Ness pouted while looking back at the Blue Lock team.
"Sucks to suck." Kurona chuckled.
PXG...
Now, Rin tried (and failed) to pretend that he didn't care about the whole interview, but he couldn't. He cared way too much. So that's why he was now sat down in front of thr TV, ignoring whatever Tokimitsu, Karasu, and Shidou were saying.
"Shut up!! I want to hear what he is saying!" Charles yelled at the group while Loki tried to calm him down.
"Calm down,you all."
"While we are at the topic of foreign teams." The group stopped and looked at the TV again.
"Is there any foreign player you would want to play with in a team?"
(Y/n) blinked at the reporter and stayed quiet as she thought it over.
"Boooriiing. He would never pick a foreign player over one of us. Especially me." Karasu smirked, earning a few glares from the others.
"You mean me! I am the one he said he could barely keep up with during our first match." Shidou butted in.
"And yet you still lost." Karasu jabbed back.
"Shut it! He would be pick me. I am the number 1 here, after all." Rin rolled his eyes.
"Being the 1 isn't the only thing that matters, Rin. Besides, (Y/n) admires my dribbling."
Charles rolled his eyes at the team and cleared his throat.
"Please don't." Loki begged.
"Yet the interviewer cares about none of you. (Y/n) will definitely pick me here-"
"I really enjoyed playing against Julian Loki during one of our selection rounds. While I don't know his current abilities yet, I would definitely pick him as a teammate. He is very easy to get along with." (Y/n)'s answer quickly shut up the group. The Blue Lock team kept quiet as they looked at Loki while Charles looked at him in utter disbelief.
"You stole him away!" The French player said as Loki looked at him in disbelief.
"I did not?! Besides, he knows me for longer than he knows you."
"So now you are showing off?!"
"Are you stupid?!"
Ubers...
"(Y/n) should gave asked me for some fashion advice. Why would he wear the Bastard uniform during an international interview of all times." Aryu tsked in disapproval as he looked at the TV. Niko rolled his eyes at the comment and looked at the taller player.
"How does that matter now? He is having a interview about Blue lock, not a fashion show."
Snuffy chuckled at the younger players comment and ruffled his hair.
"Calm down, Niko. But, he does have a point, Aryu. (Y/n) was told to wear that, after all.
"They purposely wanted him to look ugly." Aryu pouted.
"Will all three of you shut up? I am trying to listen." Barou groaned as Lorenzo looked at him in amusement.
"Didn't thing a king like you was invested in stuff like this."
"Shut it-"
"As you are aware, the whole world is looking forward to your final match against PXG. But, the fans would like to know which game was so far the most exhausting one."
"Hmm... that's an easy one, definitely the one we had against Ubers. While Barcha and Manshine were challenging as well, the Ubers one outweighs them a lot. Not only did the team already have good and experienced players like Don Lorenzo, and their coach Marc Snuffy. But, my own teammates have evolved quite a lot. While I was annoyed that the end of the match kept getting delayed, I was very happy to see them give their all on the field."
The trio kept quiet as they blushed while looking at the TV. Snuffy and Lorenzo silently laughing at their reactions.
Manshine...
"(Y/n) looks a lot paler than I remember him to be. Don't you two think so?" Reo asked, looking back at Chigiri and Nagi for an answer. The redhead narrowed his eyes and inspected the captain before slowly nodding his head.
"It sure looks like it. I wonder if he is sick or something." Chigiri said in worry while Nagi kept quiet.
"I hope Bastard aren't stressing him out too much." Reo rolled his eyes as he thought about the German team.
"We all pretty much witnessed your hat trick during the match against Manshine city, how did you feel back then? Excitement? Confusion?"
The three looked at the TV, silently waiting for an answer.
"Well it was a mix of both, but mainly confusion. I really wasn't sure, and still I am not sure what had possessed me om the field back then. But, I am grateful for the chances Isagi, Kurona, and Sachs-san gave me to score."
"I can only imagine, especially when you got such a high bid offer from Re Al right after."
"That was a surprise to me as well. I didn't imagine they would notice me like that." (Y/n) chuckled as Nagi and Reo facepalmed.
"He really needs to work on his confidence."
"Nothing changed with him."
"It's cute. He reminds me of a puppy." Chigiri laughed as a blush coated his cheeks.
Barcha...
"Keep it down you two. You won't be able to hear anything." Lavinho said as he looked at Otoya and Bachira, which immediately shut them up.
"We didn't see (Y/n) in so long! Can you blame us?" Otoya said as Bachira nodded along.
"Do you still stand by your statement that the game against Barcha was your favorite one?" The trio looked back at the TV, waiting impatiently at the answer.
"Yes. It was probably more relaxing since it was our first one and, personally, I had a lot of adrenaline rushing through my body. Also, Lavinho-san made the match more interesting with his antics." (Y/n) laughed as the Brazilian laughed along.
"Finally someone who understands!"
"And this is why we should have kidnapped him out of the Bastard stratum."
"Bachira, no." Otoya said in a scolding manner.
Back with (Y/n)...
'Can this be over already? I van barely keep my eyes open.' (Y/n) thought, trying to keep her focus on the questions and the interviewer, but that focus was slowly slipping away.
"We have a few more questions and then we are done. Are you ready to answer the next one?"
"Sure-" Before (Y/n) could finish her answer, her vision turned black and she fell unconscious.
"(Y/n)!" Anri yelled in fear as the interviewer caught the girl before she could fall face first on the floor.
"He is fine. He just fainted. Turn off the cameras." Nihei said as the camera man quickly turned everything off. Anri ran to (Y/n)'s side, sighing in relief when she saw the girl was still breathing.
"Bring me some water and call a medic." Anri told the interviewer then looked back at (Y/n) in worry.
'I knew this whole interview was a bad idea. And the PIFA and Re Al higher-ups are watching this as well. The last thing I need is for (Y/n) to get scolded for being exhausted.'
Panic in the stratums pretty much started the moment they saw the girl faint and the cameras got cut off. Ego felt of course worried, and along with Noa and the other coaches was immediately at the medics office.
"So, he was exhausted?" Loki asked as the doctor nodded his head.
"Pretty much. Lack of sleep caused his body to crash. Aside from that, I have noticed he was under a lot more stress the past few weeks, either caused by the games or the JFA, I can't tell right now."
"What is the next best thing I can do now? I am his coach, after all." Noa spoke up.
"Just let him rest for a few days. If possible, delay the match against PXG for a week or so."
"Sure. Ego-san-"
"Consider it done, Loki." Ego said back, interrupting the French player.
"Also, I would like you all to keep the players at bay for now. Just let him sleep, visitors will only cause more harm now."
"Don't worry about that."
"We will handle it." Chris and Lavinho nodded along as Snuffy patted Noa's back.
"The boys need to practice, anyway. So keeping them away will be easy."
The doctor nodded his head and looked back at Ego.
"Anri is currently with him, so you don't need to worry. Should something happen I will immediately inform you. But, as I said, everything will be fine. He just needs rest."
"Alright." Ego said back, a little bit relieved that (Y/n) wasn't in a life-threatening condition or anything. As the doctor left, Loki and the adults silently thought over their plans to tell the other players.
"It will be quite a headache. Especially since Nagi, Reo, and Chigiri are so stubborn." Chris groaned as Lavinho shrugged his shoulders.
"Just give them punishments if they don't listen. What else can we do."
"True, but let's try being reasonable first." Snuffy added in.
"Lucky for me I have the most unreasonable players in my team." Noa butted in as Loki chuckled a little.
"You clearly didn't meet mine yet."
"I don't care how unreasonable they are, if they defy the rule, inform me. I will give them a proper punishment then." Ego told the coaches in a serious manner.

TV Guide, 9/6/2024 Issue ft. Kamen Rider Gavv Cast Members (translation below)
Publication: August 28, 2024
Chinen Hidekazu x Hino Yusuke x Miyabe Nozomi
Chinen: Shouma, who I play, is a young man who loves eating. He actually comes from another world, and while he's friendly, there's an elusive side to him, so if you take your eyes off him, he might end up someplace else.
Hino: Karakida Hanto, who I play, is a freelance writer who's not afraid of taking risks. During the audition, they never gave me a detailed setup for the motifs or roles we'd be playing. The only thing I knew was that one character was a glutton, and that the other was a cool character. How was the audition for the female character?
Miyabe: I play Amane Sachika, a gyaru, but that wasn't disclosed to me during the audition…..
Chinen: Really?!
Miyabe: The impression I had was that she was a reliable person. Then, during the final audition, the Director told me, "Act alittle more like an aunt from Osaka."
Chinen & Hino: Ahahaha!
Miyabe: I wondered what kind of character she'd be, but I was surprised to find out that she was a gyaru.
Hino: I was together with Hide (Chinen) during the final part of the audition, and he was really interesting. We've got so many stories. Which one was your favorite?
Chinen: There's none in particular I like (laughs).
Miyabe: I wanna hear them! (laughs).
Hino: For example…there was "A," the gluttonous character, and "B," the cool character, and the Director would assign us by saying, "Alright, next, you play role A, and this guy will play role B," but when Hide was told, "Alright, you're next," he took role A without asking.
Miyabe: Eh! (laughs).
Hino: I couldn't help but say, "This kid's a genius."
Chinen: I cringe thinking about it now (laughs).
Hino: (laughs). Still, I thought, "These are the kind of kids who get chosen." I really felt that he was different from the other kids. I guess I've been drawn towards Shouma since then. That's why when I found out at costume fitting that Hide had been chosen to play the main character I thought, "Wow! That's great! I knew it'd be him."
Chinen: "I knew it" is what I also thought about Yusuke-kun. When I actually did a face to face performance with Yusuke-kun at the audition, I thought, "It'd be very easy to perform with this person"……
Hino: (said happily) Really?
Chinen: Yeah. That's why I wasn't surprised at all when we met at costume fitting. There were countless people left, but I knew that if I was chosen, the other person would likely be "him."
Hino: (totally embarrassed) Damn. No, that makes me happy! I think that the relationship between Shouma and Hanto will gradually deepen as the story progresses, so I hope you'll look forward to that part as well.
Miyabe: What I liked about the script was that even people who seemed cheerful were complex, and they grew as they struggled with themselves. I personally found these aspects encouraging, and I hope that it'll be conveyed to the viewers as well.
Chinen: When I saw the completed first episode, I thought it was really interesting, and I felt that I presented it with my whole heart. I hope that lots of people will watch it! _
Q: What sweets would you compare each other to?
Chinen: Miyabecchi is a marshmallow. She gives off the feeling of an older sister who watches out for us and embraces us with her softness. As for Yusuke-kun, he's fugashi.
Hino: Isn't that old fashioned?! Wait, there's only a two year gap between us! (laughs).
Chinen: He's well informed, and since he talks alot with his superiors, I chose fugashi since it's a veteran of the sweets world.
Miyabe: I think Hide's definitely a marshmallow.
Hino: Right, it's so him.
Miyabe: Isn't it? He's very soft, and I feel like he could absorb an impact (laughs). As for Yusuke-kun, he's dagashi.
Hino: I guess I'm that type after all (laughs).
Miyabe: It's because there's a familiarity to him (laughs).
Chinen: Ah~ I see.
Hino: I also think Hide's a marshmallow. He's fluffy, pure, and positive. His skin is also like a marshmallow (he pokes his cheeks). As for Miyabecchi…she's both girly and not girly at all, and is also quite mature. I wonder what she'd be.
Chinen: A high quality confection?
Hino: Right. Like a millefeuille! It feels like there are many sides to her, as it also has lots of layers.
Miyabe: Ah, I'm glad~ (laughs).

Hey there! May I request a fic of Akira and Yusuke crushing on the same person, who's pretty oblivious when it comes to romantic hints? (With polyam themes if possible, like they just slowly start to crush on eachother, too?)
Crushing More Than Once (Akira Kurusu x Reader x Yusuke Kitagawa)
Tumblr media
You know, having a crush on someone who is extremely oblivious to anything romantic is quite a challenge. A challenge that Kurusu and Kitagawa had to face. But oh a challenge that will have a great award at the end.
How oblivious that you are? Well if either of them would make an entire box of chocolate about confessing their love for you you would think "Aww what a great friend that I have." That would hurt more than the Reaper's shotgun. But that will slowly dull down after several attempts was when they realized that you were just really oblivious.
When they start to make it a little more public that they were getting your attention, as in complementing you more than you usually or showing off more in battles is when Kurusu and Kitagawa notice that they both had a crush on you.
This challenge had became a lot harder, this became a competition.
It was pretty funny to the others in the group, as there wasn't actually harm being dumb and it was a new source of entertainment with, admittedly, same usual routine in the Metaverse. Compliments, gifts, more and longer hangouts, getting physical close to you (if you are comfortable with that of course), but nothing could dent that obliviousness that you had.
But then, as days go on they realized...
They might have developed feelings for each other. This will complicate things. However, after some days of thinking about this and how to handle this they decide to talk to each other. As they sort out their feelings, they felt like have things figure out and felt like things will work out. Now, they still have a crush on you and that their feelings with each other will not go away anytime soon.
So why not kill two birds with one stone?
They figure out a plan for both of them confessing their love to you and hopefully break that oblivious shield that you had.
After some brainstorming, a highly detailed plan, revisions, practicing, some blood and sweat poured into it...they finally done it. They broke that shield of yours and accepted BOTH of their confessions. Happiness fills up their heart as they finally complete the challenge, with some unexpected bonus in the middle of it.
They couldn't ask for a more better ending.

P5R Random Thoughts #3: Annoyance, Anger, and Conviction
Or, just a couple more random thoughts about Joker.
I actually do enjoy that Joker seems to sometimes get genuinely frustrated with his friends' antics - I don't know if it reads that way to anyone else, but a combination of his dialogue options and character model body language definitely reads that way to me.
He's gotten mildly annoyed with Ryuji's loudness on several occasions - often having dialogue choices that are essentially some variant of "keep your voice down!" Much as Joker feels what I suspect is quite a lot of gratitude for Ryuji's unflinching support and passion (he was his first friend in Tokyo, after all - no deal, just friendship), his dialogue options also become a lot more passive aggressive during early Kaneshiro arc - and small wonder, because Ryuji's eager carelessness actually did get them caught; thankfully by Makoto, and not law enforcement. Of course, he still cares a lot about Ryuji; I think he's just a little frustrated right now.
He's usually pretty chill with Morgana bossing him around - for what reason, I honestly couldn't tell you, but he does pretty much anything that not-cat recommends. However, when Morgana spontaneously invites Yusuke to stay with Joker without asking him, Joker kind of "!!" and looks at him. It's then followed up with everyone deciding to invite themselves to Joker's place, again, without asking him and Morgana encouraging it. The scene ends with Joker straight up elbowing/jostling Morgana in the bag after everyone's left for Leblanc. Pfft.
He tells Yusuke to hurry it up in Mementos when he gets too in the zone... and much as you can't rush an artist, they do near immediately get jumped by Shadows after that, so, you know, he does have a point.
Even with Ann, Joker frequently sweatdrops at her kind of out-there ideas of how to strengthen her heart. While I wouldn't call it annoyance, per se, there is at least one scene I can think of where two of the options straight up shut her down, and the last is basically a sarcastic "good luck with that", which Ann proceeds to take at face value as encouragement, leading to Joker sweatdropping once again. Lol.
So many of these are basically the equivalent of Joker going >:( at his friends and them typically completely not noticing which is funny as heck.
Also, because I'm the kind of person who loves to read into things, I think it can tell us a little more about Joker. What actually frustrates him here?
Drawing attention to the group in the real world - something he actively tries to avoid, at first, because of consequences for him, and then, because it puts the thieves at risk
Getting himself and the group into unnecessary trouble - so we've got two instances of Joker being mindful of potential consequences
People getting invited over without being asked first - this one's a little ambiguous as to why. Could be a simple courtesy thing, could be related to Joker's earlier obvious discomfort with people getting in his personal space without permission, could be that he likes his privacy. Personally, I suspect he's actually somewhat embarrassed and a little concerned about what his friends' reactions will be to where he's staying - I do have some reasons for this interpretation but ultimately, no matter what reason you ascribe, he's definitely not initially happy about this spontaneous invitation by Morgana.
I think we can even condense the first two and say that Joker seems to be a little more focused on outcomes and consequences than much of the rest of his group, who (before Makoto joins) very much people who act in the immediate moment. He's not quite on par with Morgana's brand of pragmatism, but he does seem to always be at least thinking ahead.
There are a few exceptions, however.
Joker's actual anger is something he is evidently not good at hiding. He has an excellent poker face, but his eyes and, apparently, the way he speaks give it away entirely. To hide his anger, he outright has to not say anything and obscure his face. That actually does not seem like someone who is especially good at hiding strong emotions, even if he can school the rest of himself.
Ann, of all people, has to make excuses for his obvious disdain towards a cop. Every single dialogue option is some flavour of snippy comment. His character model continues to stare directly at said cop, even after Ann interrupts.
He is not thinking about consequences here. Joker fucking hates cops, and he is either very bad at hiding it - or he has no desire to. A very similar thing happened with Kamoshida too. He has nothing but disdain for abusers with power and authority over those they hurt. He also outright doesn't trust the justice system at all after seeing how it failed him and so many others ("They do more than the cops" <-hello. on live tv no less.).
And this leads to something else that's actually a fairly interesting facet to his character that I'm curious to see if it'll get acknowledged in some way.
For the most part, despite the Metaverse confidence and flashiness (which I feel isn't a great metric anyways - all the thieves are like that), Joker responds to most compliments and successes by either complimenting the whole team in turn, or brushing it off as luck or not a huge deal. This is likely in part a cultural thing, but when it comes to genuine appreciation being shown, he does seem to have some semblance of humility about it all - which is why it's almost hilariously shocking how pushy he can be about helping others.
He chases after Ann because she's upset, even though initially she told him not to. He corners some of the students getting exploited by Kaneshiro and won't leave until they tell him the details, even resorting to playing into the rumours about him so that they'll talk. He overhears his confidants in some kind of trouble on several occasions and near immediately asks them about it, and then continues to bring it up if they don't elaborate. It's notable that these instances are some of the few things he decides to do himself, without Morgana's explicit encouragement. I suspect a lot of this is because he has so little faith in anyone else to do the right thing - he has no trust in the justice system, and most adults don't seem to care. But Joker cares, and he will listen to what happened, and he will do something about it, and he will help, and he does so by refusing to let up - he does not wait for someone to ask for help necessarily, he just kind of goes and does it. It's not like I can't see the rationale here, but it's also, kind of, a little bit... presumptuous, in a way.
Again, it's a fascinating contrast with his typical (at least apparent) humility, and his kind of wishy-washy dialogue from early game - Joker has always been firm about this.
The official forming of the Phantom Thieves at the buffet is a scene that really caught my eye for this. Again, much as Joker has the same level of anger as his friends, his answers are still largely "probably"s and "maybe"s. He "hadn't even considered" continuing to act as Phantom Thieves. But interestingly, there is one dialogue option that is stated with none of the usual hesitancy or vagueness - "I want to help people". <- It's the crux of his awakening. This is Joker's true conviction. And he's willing to do anything, be whoever he needs to be, to see this through. He wants to help. He can't bring himself to look away.
Asserting the Phantom Thieves' brand of justice is a conviction that arises later on through proof of the effectiveness of changing hearts, and as a natural extension of his growing familiarity and confidence in their methods. Joker nearly always needs a little push to get started, but once he gets going, he's kind of relentless. He doesn't seem to be truly all that angry with either Makoto or Akechi for their questioning of the thieves' justice (barring his initial reaction), but he does, again, get annoyed at the assumption that the thieves are somehow a threat to people who aren't inflicting harm onto others - Joker says the thieves only target "criminals", implying that even though others may see them as criminals themselves, Joker does not agree. And when Makoto winds up joining them, there appears to be no residual hard feelings from him - she's like them, and she's come around.
It's likely too soon for me to state with any certainty, but I do think that's what Joker is hoping for - that people will come around if he gives them undeniable proof that they help instead of harm. Every character has at least some "selfish" motive to being a Phantom Thief, in addition to the shared goal of providing courage for those left abandoned by society. Ryuji wants positive instead of negative attention for once, Morgana wants his memories, Ann wants to alleviate her feelings of guilt surrounding Shiho, Yusuke aims to understand the human heart, and Makoto wants to feel useful and needed. What about Joker?
He started off this story just trying to help. No one believed him. He was punished for "hurting" someone and there was nothing he could say or do that would convince anyone otherwise. It was his word against society's. And when the Phantom Thieves' motives are brought up, it's the same questions: aren't they going to hurt people? Aren't they dangerous and untrustworthy? And this frustrates Joker in a similar way to the rumours surrounding his own arrest, but now - now he has proof. Proof that they helped, proof that this works. It's undeniable, to him, that real good is coming of this. And so now he has a leg to stand on; he can actually argue his point by saying "the Phantom Thieves aren't like that; look at the people they're helping, and how the people who should've done something can't do half the good they do". It's no longer his word against the rest of the world. He's counting on people being unable to deny what they are forced to witness.
In a way, Joker now has grounds not just to plead the Phantom Thieves' justice... but also his own innocence and good intentions. His defense of their justice is also, I believe, a defense of his own ego, to an extent.

now that i am getting near the end of maruki’s palace and therefore my first playthrough of persona 5 royal i wanted to make a bit of a longer post gathering my thoughts, more specifically about the phantom thieves vs maruki because i think there’s an interesting parallel between them that has honestly made it one of my favourite parts of the game.
first off, i think the phantom thieves resonate a lot because at the end of the day they are just teenagers who have experienced some sort of trauma or abuse.
ryuji’s father was an abusive alcoholic and he lost out on his dream because of kamoshida.
ann’s parents were constantly moving around and she was groomed by one of her own teachers, as well as her watching her best friend try to kill herself because of it.
yusuke was used for years by his own parental figure to make art he could steal for money and is now left on his own with no experience.
makoto’s father died and she is left with her sister and an immense pressure to succeed in their footsteps.
futaba watched her own mother die and it effected her so badly she convinced herself it was her own fault for YEARS and locked herself away.
haru was also groomed by her own father into an arranged marriage she wanted no part of.
akechi (including him simply for the sake of talking about maruki later on) had a deadbeat dad who he wanted approval from and was passed between fosters for years.
sumi watched her own sister die and it traumatised her so badly that she pretended to be her so kasumi wouldn’t be dead.
morgana is a bit of a weird one because he couldn’t remember where he came from and thought he was human for so long only to find out he was created for the purpose of helping the phantom thieves, but he accepts his fate.
and ren obviously was a victim of false accusations of assault that landed him in shibuya with a criminal record.
obviously some of those are more extreme than others but they all share one thing: having an adult who has hurt or abused them in some way, or put pressure on them to succeed. this is what drives them to start/join the phantom thieves because they don’t want other people to suffer the same way they have and it’s a way to get back at their own trauma. they don’t want to change what happened to them, they want to make sure it doesn’t happen again and i think that is the fundamental difference between the phantom thieves and maruki. it’s a way of healing their own trauma for them.
maruki on the other hand wants to create a reality where abuse and trauma never happened and it just doesn’t exist. which on the surface level seems like a good idea, but digging deeper you realise there are so many issues with that, morally and ethically. yes i often wish i wasn’t traumatised and my friends weren’t hurting and want to take away their pain. but for better or for worse that trauma has shaped us and we wouldn’t be the same people without it. learning to cope and learning to heal is an important part of life and having a world where nothing ever goes wrong is so one dimensional and lifeless and strips people away of their individuality.
ren sees all his friends living in this reality and on the surface level it seems like they are happy and it’s what they truly wanted and wished for, but it almost seems too perfect and the happiness is fake.
ryuji is part of the track team again and is working towards his scholarship.
ann is spending time with shiho and is happy with her best friend.
yusuke is still with madarame and he is thriving with his art.
makoto’s father is alive and she is living as a family with him and sae.
futaba’s mother is alive and her, wakaba and sojiro are living as a family.
haru’s father is alive and is actually treating her with love and respect.
morgana is human because he thinks that that is what he was supposed to be.
they all snap out of it and realise that this reality is fake and not what they really wanted because it undoes so much of what has gotten them to that point together. maruki altering reality in such a way that people who were dead are now alive in his reality does such a disservice to the work that the phantom thieves in these situations had done to get over the trauma of their deaths themselves (especially in futaba’s case) and being able to grow and move on after mourning these deaths.
and to an extent i understand what maruki is trying to do. creating an ideal reality where no person suffers seems like a good idea. but as soon as ren enters that reality everything feels off. his friends are not themselves and everything is too ideal. taking away all the bad things in the world does more harm than good and creates a world that is devoid of any depth. i don’t want to hurt, and i don’t want my friends to hurt, but the journey to healing from your struggles on your own is much more satisfying than having someone completely strip away the opportunity to do that. everyone has their own traumas and struggles and should be able to take their own power back, not have someone take away that opportunity entirely. altering reality in such a way is not stripping people of their trauma, its fundamentally changing them as a person instead. maruki does this and thinks its healing his own trauma, but the difference is he is hurting people in the process (maybe without him even realising) rather than making sure abusers don’t abuse again.
sorry this post was incredibly long but i do think the addition of maruki’s palace in royal is such a clever way to put into perspective what the phantom thieves are doing themselves because it makes you question for a moment if what they are doing is really justified, but when you look at maruki and what he is doing you realise the phantom thieves are in it for the right reasons.

assigning one word to every persona 5 character
hiii local girl (me) got bored and decided to make this character analysis post of sorts for fun!! so here's one word i think each persona 5 character embodies, as well as my explanation... <3
ryuji: acceptance
ryuji is the first character we formally meet and befriend in persona 5. to others, he's rowdy, unpredictable, and not very pleasant to be around. we're warned multiple times about him and about what he's done. we also get to witness for ourselves how easy it is for him to form a grudge and hold to it for dear life, whether it be toward a corrupt adult, other students, morgana, some of the other phantom thieves, etc.
one of my favorite things about ryuji's character arc and growth is actually how subtle it is, especially for a game that (bless it's heart, i love it, but-) has very little subtlety at times. it kind of just occurs in the background and you slowly watch him change.
he goes from openly despising, attacking, and badmouthing kamoshida to simply saying "it's all in the past" when asked about it in one of his future confidant events. he goes from desperately wanting to be viewed as a hero to accepting that some things have to happen in secrecy. he even becomes kinder to morgana and the other phantom thieves when previously, he wouldn't hesitate to verbally jump them. my point is, he comes to accept a lot of things and leave them all behind in the pursuit of just being happy with what he's got now.
the antithesis of this is also true, where ryuji doesn't accept any of the corruption that happens around him, another aspect that is a huge part of his character. he's usually one of the firsts to suggest infiltrating a palace or heading into mementos.
overall, ryuji's character arc really just involves a whole lot of moving on and letting the past be the past in order to facilitate his own change and his own path toward having peace. and i love it!!!
ann: connection
i felt as though a lot of ann's character was centered around the idea of connection. when we first meet her, she has only one friend, and she puts herself into a terrible situation with kamoshida just to make sure that friend doesn't lose her spot on the volleyball team. she's established as somebody who clearly values her connections very deeply.
but there's also a flipside to this, in that. y'know. ann only has one friend at the start of the game. in one of her confidant events, she also talks about how she had no friends for a while when she first came to japan due to her appearance, ethnicity, and nationality, and how she often faced adversity due to this.
when she does befriend joker and ryuji, it is a rocky beginning- but she comes to value her friends so much. when she meets yusuke, she gives him a chance. when she meets makoto, she's the first to reassure makoto that she doesn't hate her for stalking them, and that she actually wants to be friends. when she meets futaba, haru, you name it- she is always trying to be kind to them. to immediately become their friend and connect with them.
during akechi's battle in shido's palace, she's the one who suggests he join them in taking down shido. she's the one who wants him to be a part of them, even after everything.
she also has a passion for connecting with the world around her, most notably, i would say, through modeling.
it's clear ann values connection a lot. she goes to great lengths for the people she loves, she encourages befriending people, and she enjoys involving herself in the things that go on around her. i think it's really great to get to watch as her trust in everyone, and her relationships with them, grow stronger.
yusuke: passion
yusuke's arc is very much centered around passion, from the moment you meet him to the end of his confidant events. he's on an endless search for the perfect muse, to make the perfect painting, to become the perfect artist.
so much so that when he finds out that the person he looked up to the most lied to him, and when he finds out that the person who came before him (his mother), who had the exact same passion as him, was killed by the person he looked up to the most- his world crumbles.
he loses that passion some, or at least struggles to figure out how he's going to ever paint something worthy again now that he knows the one thing he loves to do was built off of something so heinous.
but you see over time how he finds that passion again, through his friends, through trial and error, through just going at it over and over again. to the final realization that maybe that passion has dissipated some, but it's still within him. he can never paint the way he used to, but that isn't the bad thing he thought it was- it's good.
his passion is also just a central part of his character. he can come across as melodramatic or "a bit much," as he even says himself at one point during a confidant event in mementos-
but the people he's surrounded himself with don't think so, and love him anyway. so... safe to say his passion and his love for the beauty in the world is what carries him throughout all of persona 5.
makoto: practical
definitions of "practical":
(of an idea, plan, or method) likely to succeed or be effective in real circumstances; feasible
suitable for a particular purpose
sensible and realistic in their approach to a situation or problem
makoto is my favorite character in persona 5 right next to yusuke, and i think the word "practical" describes her in many great ways.
the first reason being that both the word itself as well as its antithesis apply to makoto very well. she is rather deceptively practical in some ways, in the sense that she comes across as well put-together, intelligent, and sensible when you first meet her-
until you find out she's actually the same as any other reckless teenager out there, running to kaneshiro and getting herself and all the other phantom thieves into a blackmailing scandal.
she also does this because a big part of makoto's character during this arc is the idea of being useful to somebody- being, as the second definition says up there, "suitable for a particular purpose." she just wants to help somebody. she feels like a deadweight to sae, she's doing everything she can to be a top student in school and it still isn't enough, and she's getting nowhere in the one task her principal assigned to her.
being useful to someone is very important to her.
then she actually joins the phantom thieves and the meaning of this word flips a little bit, because makoto is practical, in the sense of being sensible and intelligent. she's the "brains" of the phantom thieves-
but she no longer has to be "worth something" or "useful." i think ann is the one who explains this concept to her, of how they just want makoto to be their friend. not to be some sort of tool.
so makoto instead turns her attention to just being helpful where she can rather than ruining her life over it. she asks for help when she needs it, such as when she's trying to help one of her friends with his weird boyfriend and asks joker to help her out. and she does try to help her friend with her weird boyfriend, another example of trying to contribute. and she's a part of the phantom thieves, an organization that literally devotes itself to ridding the world of corruption and evil figures.
for her, i think what is really important is how 'practical' goes from her constantly trying to be presentable, constantly bending over backwards to help other people, and constantly hating herself for being 'useful'... to allowing herself to be honest with her friends, and be silly and confused and ask for help, and do what she can to help other people without killing herself over it.
so, yeah. i think she has a really lovely arc in this sense as well.
futaba: freedom
this one i feel like is a given... futaba's arc, in many ways, is centered around the idea of freedom.
freedom from blaming herself for her mom, freedom from her bedroom, freedom from being afraid of being around or talking to people. leaving behind all the things in her past that brought her so much pain, and moving forward in her life.
i'm surprised i don't have much more to say, but honestly, i feel like it's kind of the obvious word for futaba. her entire arc is surrounded with the idea of escaping her self-blame and the tomb she trapped herself in. and she gets that through hanging out with the phantom thieves, and through doing her promise list with ren, and through just. freeing herself from all of her blame.
i also think the word embodies her carefree nature and openness to trying things, even when they scare her. she isn't bound by social norms or what she thinks she's supposed to act like. i also think these traits really help the people around her let loose as well. she also strays from the norm in the sense of her being her own little NPC in battle. you don't know what she's going to do for you. she's free as a bird!
anyway. i love her!
haru: action
haru was difficult for me to pick a word for because there were so many i could've gone with, but i settled on 'action' for a few reasons.
the first being that, for quite a while in her life, it would appear as though haru doesn't take action. doesn't try to change the things she dislikes, just meekly goes along with whatever life throws her way. she's trapped in her engagement and just does whatever her father wants her to do.
but there's definitely something bubbling up in her, a desire to lash back out and actually change her situation.
which is why when she does enter the metaverse for the first time, meets this talking cat, and is told to just go along with whatever morgana says... it's no wonder she instantly jumps on board. this is her finally doing something for herself, not for anyone else. this is her straying from the norm.
when everything with the phantom thieves and the metaverse is explained to haru, she's quick to grow, and transform, and work with them to take down her father.
finally, haru gets to actually do something about her situation, and she isn't hesitating at all. she's jumping headfirst to acting on what she's always wanted to do. taking action.
this is just a side note, but i also think haru empathizes with akechi on a more personal level. she knows what it's like to abhor what somebody in your family has done, and to want to end it- they're two sides of the same coin, they just went about their situations in completely different ways.
it floored me when i saw how forgiving she was toward him even after knowing he killed her father. but none of that kindness is coming from a place of forgiving him, or absolving his guilt, or from complacency- it's from understanding his desperation. he wants to be free just as badly as she wanted to. on some level, haru understands this.
anyway. i know i say this about all of them, but man... i truly love haru. <3
akechi: worth
akechi's character is arguably one of the most fun to study in this game. he's difficult to get a grasp on at first outside of what he shows the player, a facade of pleasantries and friendliness. but at his core, akechi's character and ideals revolve a lot around the concept of worth.
it starts with himself. obviously, he views himself as worthless, says as much, and has spent his entire life trying to shake off that self-imposed title. he's worked so hard to become somebody people want to be around, somebody they support, somebody they revere.
so much so that when he abandons ship (no pun intended) and shows the phantom thieves who he really is, he's disgusted by the fact that they aren't disgusted. he's someone who wholeheartedly believes that being worth something to someone is the only important thing, is the only way to be appreciated, is the only thing worth fighting for.
its why he despises the weak and wants to take down those who have made him feel worthless (namely shido). and he'll do those things, he'll kill tens of people with little regard, because it's worth it. it is worth it if it means he'll be able to kill the root of his worthlessness.
he talks all about how he wasn't wanted as a child, he's just some bastard child, everything he's done has been a lie in an attempt to make people love him. he says he thinks the phantom thieves are terrible, "licking each other's wounds," that they'e idiots for showing him mercy, and yet, he accepts it.
he accepts it, because for once, he's worth something to people who don't want anything from him in return. he's worth something to people who have witnessed the absolute worst parts of him. he's worth something to people who are worth nothing to world because of him. the person he killed outstretches his hand toward him and tells him he wants him to be a part of this. to be a part of his life.
unlike makoto, worth to akechi is internal. he doesn't just want to be useful, he wants to be liked. he wants to be appreciated. he wants someone to see him for who he is and love him anyway, but he buries those desires under a hundred layers of "i don't need this, i just need to get revenge, i just need to make my father pay."
his obsession with being perfect is also the reason he holds so much anger toward joker. joker didn't have to try at all to be liked, to make friends, to have an entire group of people at his side, willing to do anything he asked. i think the line drawn between akechi and joker is born from a simple fundamental misunderstanding of how relationships work. akechi thinks they're built on mutual gain, on being admired, on having power over them. joker knows they're built on simply loving someone despite all the things you don't like about them.
anyway, overall, worthiness obviously means a lot to akechi. man he's a tough nut to crack... but i hope i did him some justice...
that's it!
thank you for reading <3

SPOILER MENTION FOR YYH LIVE ACTION
Positivity post about the new live action but it does contain some spoiler mentions as I rant 💜
Okay listen— I understand the Yyh live action felt a little speed-run and rushed. I understand that certain comedic and character build moments were lost because of it. But imagine you’re the you of 20 Years ago, and you’re watching this for the first time.
I cried during the scene with Keiko and Atsuko— I cried when Yusuke is holding the beam to save Keiko.
I loved how they added Keiko INTO the story as an actual motivation and element of Yusuke’s moral compass. I loved that Kuwabara became involved and interested in Yusuke’s life after his return and I love how they became friends who did things together! I loved his enthusiasm and worry for Yusuke and insistence upon being his rival.
I loved Kurama’s cool and collected acting, but how his care was so obviously simmering beneath the surface of his calm. It’s exactly what I’d expect of Kurama.
Hiei was, as a Hiei lover? Perfect, I didn’t like him quite at first but then he SPOKE and I was hooked. His voice and brutal style of fighting but EVERYTHING he does is for the sake of his sister and his concern for her— and eventually his concern for the other team members as well. I know we didn’t get as many comedic moments as was experienced in a 56 episode 2 season of series like in the original but that’s kinda to be expected? And we got a lot!
Honestly Yusuke’s flying kick at Kuwabara made me choke on my drink, the fight with Gouki was kinda amusing though I did miss the ‘Of course I heard you I’m just stupid’ line.
I enjoyed the banter between Yusuke and Kuwabara and I loved how Kuwabara’s concern for his friends and feeling in adequate in protecting them was his driving force!
The entire training montage with Genkai was AMAZING and fighting her was so funny she was running this boy in circles and I was living for it. God what a legend.
The scenes at the end on the boat where Hiei strolls up and tells Kuwabara to stop talking to Yukina, Kurama getting in between them felt so FAMILIAR and good!
The scene where Toguro comes to her is different and yet so very much the same as in the anime. The dialogue is exactly the same but delivered in this quiet and intimidating and intimate setting. I know we lost out on a lot of the context for it so the scene at the end where they part ways isn’t as impactful— I get that. But we the FANS know the context, so I was absolutely enthralled and bawling at how beautiful it was.
Hiei’s scene with Yukina!!!! I didn’t think they would do me like that but they DID and I was SCREAMING we were SO CLOSE.
Ugh. I loved it. Was it ‘perfect’ as in a perfect 1-1 adaptation? No. Some emotional elements were lacking because of the rush. I’ll admit that.
But was it perfect? Made me happy, perfectly nostalgic as a 20 year fangirl of this series??? Abso FUCKING lutely.

Kuwameshi: What's in a name? Everything, apparently ❤️
Togashi's name design for Kuwabara is awesome and so significant!!!
Kuwabara's last name comes from the phrase "Kuwabara Kuwabara" to ward off bad luck/lightning, and his first name Kazuma means True Harmony. It actually backs up my meta headcanon in my fic The Good Fight, that Kuwabara is Yusuke's good luck charm / patron saint who protects Yusuke from bad things coz Kuwa's in True Harmony (True Love) with Yusuke!
No wonder anime episode 3 already establishes that Kuwabara and Yusuke are emotionally in synch (in True Harmony) with each other!
I didn't know Togashi's name design for Kuwa when I wrote Chapter 7 The Patron Saint and Martyr to introduce my headcanon that Kuwabara is Yusuke's patron saint, I based Chapter 7 off the subtext in the Genkai succession arc episodes which dropped a lot of clues about Kuwabara protecting Yusuke both unconsciously & consciously throughout Yusuke's fights in the arc (meta in Chapter 7's end notes in AO3), so I was so damn happy when I read that Togashi's name design for Kuwa actually backs up the subtext!! Kuwa is literally designed to be Yusuke's divine protector!!!!
I also find it very interesting how Yusuke was almost killed by lightning during the Suzako fight when Kuwabara was separated from him, and then Yusuke was killed a second time by Sensui (lightning strikes twice in terms of Yusuke dying once from the car accident, and then dying a second time at Sensui's hands), when Kuwabara was again not with him or separated from him.
Isn't it amazing the depth of great character design that Togashi put into Kuwabara and Yusuke that even Kuwabara's name clues us into how absolutely essential and vital Kuwabara is to Yusuke?
They're so romantic together !! Not only are they literally made for each other according to their creator's design, they also CHOOSE to make themselves for each other over and over, coz they're falling so madly, deeply, irrevocably in love with each other as they see more of each other's essence! They both love and are in love with each other so intensely, it's literally the heart of the entire YYH series!
Chapter 9 of The Good Fight is now up on AO3! This fic expands upon canon so we see just how essential Kuwabara and Yusuke are to each other! This chapter has a lot of references to Kuwabara as Yusuke's Divine protector, coz after I read Togashi's name design for Kuwabara, how can I not reference that?? Come scream about them with me there!!

I got a lot of positives after posting about the step siblings thing so here's more
P5 Step Siblings AU
So to be clear, the "Thieves" all meet in high school, so before that there's just bits from the three/four individual families and such. So, I'll give you some of those bits
Niijima/Kitagawa/Ishiki
So, I've got stuff for the three wives in this. As stated in the first post, Aichi Niijima is an EMT, spending odd hours at work, the smarts of a healthcare worker with the athleticism of a first responder. It's her goal to always be able to pick up her kids, no matter their age
Sayuri Kitagawa is an elementary school art teacher, who also gets featured in galleries, a lot. She never paints the faces of her children, so they're not plastered everywhere, but they're still on her works from time to time. She is ill, but she keeps moving onwards
And, Wakaba Ishiki. She still researches cognition in her spare time, but after falling for the artist she kept seeing painting in Shibuya, she's settled more. She's a high school technology teacher, and is the one who fights to have Goro in their care
Just. Aichi walking around on her off days with at least one kid clinging to her at all times, if not all of them. Sae is always most reluctant, especially as a teenager, and to convince Goro all anyone needs to do is a little reverse psychology
Her carrying like, 10-year-old Makoto on one side, Yusuke aged 9 on the other, and little Futaba at 8 on her back as she cooks, cleans, etc
Sayuri holding Makoto close during storms, and telling her stories to distract from the fear, never diminishing it or anything. She does the same for Futaba, when the world doesn't make sense, holds her tight until she's back to herself, and. She kisses each of their little heads each morning and night, even when they're not so little anymore
Sakamoto
Poor Tsumiki Sakamoto, raising two wild children. Ryuji is a handful on his own, with his endless energy and innate rebellion against authority, but Ann? The two combined just keep making the other Worse
Like. The best example is their first day of high school, they meet the others cause they're sprinting, convinced that they're late cause their Mom set the clocks a half hour ahead. So, they're actually early
They both love movies, so every other week she uses some of her own paycheck money to bring them to see something, snacks and all. The Takamaki money goes towards food, clothes, rent, etc. her own money goes towards making sure they have the best childhood she can give them
When the power goes out, she builds a little fort in the living room with them, with a flashlight and she reads a book, Ann and Ryuji acting out the different characters. By the end they're out of energy, out cold in the fort, unafraid
Tsukimi fosters Ryuji's love of running, and Ann's love of acting. She helps make Ann's costume for a school play, and switches shifts around at the ramen shop to get to attend the school sports festival and cheer Ryuji on for his first wins
They're not super well off, but they're happy, and loved
Sakura
Sojiro had a few different foster placements before his first foster fail. None of them stay with him for too long, just a step on the path, that's all. But then he gets this little, thin, seven year old girl, who's case was all over the news, because her father was a big CEO
Haru was nervous and shy at first, but he cooks her dinner and lets her watch, asking her to taste test. And, she has her own room, and the door doesn't have to stay closed
Plus, he gently carries her when theyre on the train, letting her hide her face in his shoulder. He keeps the media away from her, until the case is old news. And each month, he brings her to talk to her mom, at a small, high end graveyard
Haru fucking loves Sojiro. She's selected for an adoption viewing at one point and she just- cries. Tells the worker she doesn't wanna go, don't make her leave her dad, and
Sojiro cries. She called him Dad,
Akira gets placed with them after a couple years, when he's twelve and Haru thirteen. It takes him longer to settle in, he's, older than Haru was. Been through a bit more. But, he melts into place there, and soon he's got his own apron to wear while making dinner with his dad and his big sister
And, they get a cat. Akira and Haru find him when walking home from middle school, and don't tell Sojiro at first. Then he finds the cat, and it's that, "dad who didn't want the cat" situations. He buys him little sweaters and shit
Sojiro gave them both the option to keep their old family names. Haru asked to change hers to Sakura the night he formally adopted her. Akira asks after a year, before Sojiro had a chance to reveal he was adopting him
And, they look like a perfect little family. Akira looks strikingly like Sojiro, and his curly hair matches Haru's, so
Bonus: Hasegawa
Now, this is Zenkichi here, so he's all emo cause his wife died. But, he has to be even stronger, cause he agreed to take in the daughters of other victims in a similar case he's convinced is connected. Twins, little gymnasts, older than his daughter
Sumire is quiet for a long time. She and Kasumi share a room, but she opens up first to Akane. Akane asks if her hair is really red, and Sumire nods. Akane says it's her favourite colour
The twins are in middle school, and Akane is pretty young. They won't move to Tokyo until the twins start high school, so they're out in Kyoto?? Anyways. Sumire bonds with Akane before opening up to Zenkichi, and Kasumi is more social, but she doesn't truly open up until she sees Sumire looking comfortable. At home.
Then, Sophia. She's found by local police with no ID, no memories, just a jacket with her name stitched into it. Zenkichi, who already has three daughters, takes her for the night at first, while they work stuff out
She, stays much longer
They joke that she's the missing third twin. ("It's called a triplet", Zenkichi corrects, causing his three girls to laugh. "Twin three!" Akane cheers, the older two following after. Sophia smiles and cheers too. "Twin three!")
When they do move to Tokyo, all three start high school at Shujin, meeting the others for the first time
--
Just. I have a lot of thoughts about this one.

Insane thoughts about non-SEES characters
You've brought up Mamoru before but I just think the fact that he ultimately drops out of high school to go work in a factory would raise a lot of question in Minato's head about what he should do in order to take care of the siblings.
The kids Yuko coaches in her Social Link are about Yusuke's age.
Hamuko misses Minato's summer track/kendo/swim meet because she's in Inaba with the volleyball/tennis team.
Maiko is everyone's friend. She can be pen pals with the younger kids after moving away.
You have the really funny opportunity to have Naoto cross paths with Rise while she's in town for the show that ultimately gets canceled due to the Hermit Shadow.
The Temperance Link is shared but the fact that Hamuko can actually make items during it and Minato can't leads me to believe that he just sucks at sewing. Hamuko makes little dolls and purses for the kids.
Bunkichi and Mitsuko give them even more snacks for the rotating cast of children that they keep bringing to the bookstore.
One of the Culture Club options - and the only option in Reload - is Art Club. Keisuke, Minato, and Fuuka can all be in Art Club. (Keisuke does show up as president of the Photography Club in Junpei's link but can be easily replaced.)
Maiko and Bunkichi are both among the people who get lost in Tartarus.
I knew about Maiko and Bunkichi! I remember thinking that's a really cool way to tie your social links into the main plot
Maiko also ends up friends with Ken I think during the Kyoto trip and while the teens are in summer school they have their own little weird adventure.
Wait hold on we can combine these Maiko getting kidnapped happens during the Kyoto trip and the kids+Koromaru stage a potentially ill-advised rescue trip (they're fine)
I love the implication that Minato just sucks at making things. There's probably a gendered analysis to be made about how Hamuko can cook and sew in her social links but Minato can't but in my heart it's just because Minato's cringe (speaking of, Sumire deserves to be the unofficial third memeber of Fuuka's cooking club)
Speaking of unofficial club members I think Yusuke hears that Minato and Fuuka are in the art club and is just fucking vibrating but doesn't say anything because he doesn't want to impose and then Minato invites him along and he is soooo excited to be able to make art with Minato and half the time no one understands what he's saying because he's been devouring art theory textbooks since he could read but he still takes the first thing Minato drew and gave him and keeps it under his pillow for good luck (idk how much of an Art Nerd Keisuke is but I feel like even without Madarame's influence Yusuke talks like an art history grad student at age 8 so he may or may not be able to follow.)
Club trip to the art museum you have never seen a child more excited outside of a candy store
Kasumi and Sumire train with Yuko even though her kids are a little older because they can keep up and Kasumi really wanted to
Naoto and Rise meeting early on would be so funny I think Naoto should do something incredibly embarassing and after Naoto is a complete badass In Persona 4 because he already has a Persona Rise is like "wait didn't you fall into the fountain at Pawlonia Mall two years ago"
I do think Minato and Hamuko being worried about not doing enough to support their siblings is a part of their arc because. You know basically being in charge at age 8 and having a really unstable home life but I have not narrowed down a vibe I like for both of them. I think Minato seeing Mamoru and thinking maybe he's been too happy to be distant and let the others do their own thing would def be interesting though

They'd tried everything "by the book" as they possibly could but nothing was happening. Even Makoto's sister said that Haru's situation was difficult because of the legal processes behind it. Takakura had assured Haru that they were working on ending the engagement but it would take time. Time, time, time. Just wait and it'll all get better in time. Why did they always have to hear that? Time didn't solve everything, which was why Ren was making the decision to go ahead with the only plan left to them.
"Haru." He approached her as she worked in her usual spot on the school's rooftop. The plants she so lovingly cared for were in full bloom, the water droplets from her Junes exclusive watering can shining in the late afternoon sun. It only felt right to compliment her on them rather than directly launching right into what he was here for. Ren cared so very deeply for his friends, wanted them to flourish just like these flowers had, and find happiness that they'd been neglected of for too long.
"They look good. Like the sort of flowers you see in Ghibli movies." He'd never seen leaves that green outside of actual florists. If Yusuke was here he'd probably compare them to some artistic shade that he used in his paintings. Ren grabbed the broom that was leaning against the fence and got to work sweeping up some spilled compost.
Tumblr media
"Not a lot of progress is being made with this contract you're under. I'm not saying Takakura isn't working hard, I'm sure he is, but there still isn't enough being done." His broom paused as a tiny bug tried to wiggle its way onto the brushes. Leaning down, Ren let it crawl onto his finger so that he could relocate it to one of the flower pots.
"Makoto's sister says there isn't a lot that can be done, at least not for a while." Especially if it involved a political connection. "So, I think the best way to deal with this is have it come from his end." He, of course, was referring to Sugimura. Ren looked up, taking a moment to lean on the broom.
"Futaba searched on the Meta-Nav and found he has a palace. I think we should infiltrate and change his heart. It's the only way I see this ending rather than waiting for something that might happen." And by that time, the opposing lawyers might try to cut deals so that Haru would end up worse off in the end.
"I haven't brought this up to the others yet because you should be the first to know. You don't have to go if you don't want to but I'd like to hear your thoughts." Ren didn't like seeing her so down and unable to achieve her full potential just because of this annoying little leech of a man that thought himself far more important than he was. He had vowed to help each of them as well as those outside their group that needed it, so he found it near enough impossible to wait around any longer.

Ended up finishing Persona 5! Although I might do one replay, for reasons. (The game has a lot of stuff in it, and there's some stuff I wasn't able to get to which I do want to complete, like a few of the Mementos missions.)
Here are some of my overall thoughts:
That boss battle (as well as the big battles leading up to it) were really tough, but luckily not as bad as I worried it would be? (To be fair, I kept the game on Easy Mode the whole time.)
Lots of big themes that will take a while for me to process fully as it all settles into my head
I appreciate the ACAB undertones of the ending. It feels like that belief is a very core part of the main character, regardless of how you play him, so it would be a slap in the face if the game said "and then he became a cop". I also was very happy when Sae decided to switch to being a defence lawyer, and the twin wardens stopped being cops.
Still kinda sad that the main character still ended up in juvie for a while, but at least he's free by the end of the game.
Morgana survives! And he decides to live permanently with the main character too.
Akechi... I don't know if he survives? He's never seen after the incident in the cruise-ship-themed level. There's a part at the very end where the main character can go around town saying goodbye to his friends, but as much as I tried, I couldn't find Akechi. (The Jazz club owner seemed worried about him too.)
Looking back, I do think there's something kinda funny about how a lot of the story in the actual boss-battle arc takes place on December 24th. Definitely an interesting holiday special.
Looking at the game overall, I think my main complaint is: there were a few really weird things?
For starters: did the swimsuit scene really have to be involved in that one part of the cruise-ship themed level? Earlier, after the first boss of the game, I thought "Oh, they're depicting some questionable stuff to really drive home how much of a creep the gym teacher is." But then the game would slip in a few "fanservice-y" moments here and there, and it just felt really uncomfy (and hypocritical, considering the first boss battle of the game).
As mentioned earlier, if the main character has a strong-enough friendship with Hifumi, they can confess to her. This is usually marked by the game saying something like "hey, think about your next few words carefully". This didn't happen when talking to Yusuke at the same friendship level, so I guess the game assumed Joker would just be straight. But... it does happen with the doctor lady? Who is a grown-up (after all, she is a doctor). I didn't end up picking that option, but I really hope that the doctor declines that type of relationship, because again (gestures to the first boss battle of the game). It just seems very hypocritical to have the highschooler protag of a game end up with an adult like that. (And on top of that, he has to deal with the reporter lady too.)
I just think the story would be much better and more consistent if they didn't put in the creepy stuff from the above two points.
Oh, I almost forgot: there's also these 2 guys that occasionally show up in the game, who seem like some nasty caricatures, while contributing nothing to the story or gameplay. Luckily they only show up about twice or so, so I can erase them from my brain kinda easily. But every time they do show up, it's just really uncomfortable. Why did the game developers put them there?
Anyway, moving back to things I like about the game: if you max out your friendship with another phantom thief, their Persona monster transforms into an even stronger one. I also really like some of the "showtime" special attacks (my favourite is the one where Yusuke and Ryuji are eating lunch).
Sojiro seems nice (even if a bit boomer-y at times), and I respect him! I managed to max out his friendship level, and it seems like he now kinda views the main character as a sort of son. It also kinda fits with the whole sibling dynamic that the main character has with Futaba.
Kasumi just. Stops showing up at some point in November/December? Which is a bit strange. I was kind of expecting her to show up at the final boss battle, despite not being an official phantom thief. The game even has all the side characters with a maxed-out friend level (and Mishima) make some sort of cameo appearance in the cheering crowd during the final battle. But she wasn't even there, even though I know for a fact that I maximized the main character's friendship with her. I'm kinda concerned?

hi, fellow writing blog! I love your stuff it's really good
I was wondering if you could do hcs for how being yanderes would fuck up the phantom thieves wills of rebellion (and personas if that's not too much)? Thank you :)
Shall do. Also I didn’t write for Sumire as I don’t know of what to do for her.
Phantom Thieves x Reader
Fandom: Persona 5
________
Ren Amamiya/Akira Kurusu
He will make sure you are completely isolated from everyone
He will change the hearts of all your friends so they would leave you
Your persona their voice is slowly starting to fade as you accept no one wants you around
Except for him maybe
The Nav still is on your phone, but your uniform is not there anymore when you enter the metaverse
After your persona is fully gone, only he will see you after so long and will make sure you can only depend on him
“Don’t worry, I won’t leave you”
Guess who’s palace was formed on that day?
Ryuji Sakamoto
He won’t isolate you, but instead he will try to hang out with you the most
Does he get jealous? Yes, and that jealousy unfortunately ended the lives of many
You are getting suspicious that he has to do something with the dead of the boys around you, but you can’t prove it nor are you fully convinced
Once you find out he is actually behind it, you are heartbroken
The person you trusted the most ended the lives of your friends.
Instead of your persona fading, it became stronger due the anger
“Look dude, I just got angry! You know I get angry right?!
You immediately put his name in the Nav. It’s a hit.
Ann Takamaki
Considering her own trauma with Kamoshida, she won’t do anything harmful
That doesn’t mean she wouldn’t do something though
She will protect you more then the others in the Metaverse, making sure that you won’t be hurt
The others quickly noticed that (meaning: only Makoto, Haru, Ren and Akechi)
You didn’t, you thought it was just normal
She constantly asks you out and most of the times you say yes
After a while, she stops protecting and helping the others
Now that you did notice.
“Oh don’t worry! It’s nothing!”
You had gotten a lot more stronger after infiltrating her palace once you found out about it
Yusuke Kitagawa
It is no surprise that he is stalking you
And he let’s you know too
You got paranoid after the fact that a huge amount of love letters and creepy poems ended up in you mail box
Your persona is trying to calm you down
You feel like you are going crazy, because you are sure you are being followed on the streets now as well
He tries to comfort you in anyway he can, so you are back on the rails and keep your persona
He is taking it too far, but he can’t stop doing it. He just loves you so much.
You never find out about his palace either
He is having doubts if he should send the photos of you as well that he took when you weren’t looking
Makoto Niijima
Wishes that you would see she is in love with you already
Your will of rebellion and your persona don’t get affected, but hers will
You will notice her change in personality, and notice her persona is slowly changing colors and looks too
At some point, she blurted out that she wants to keep you all to herself
She needs help, and you are more than happy to give it to her
You asked her if she had a palace, to no surprise she does
You stole her heart and she went back to normal, so it’s a happy end :)
Futaba Sakura
It’s hard for her to do anything really
Social anxiety and all
She tries to keep a conversation with you, but only you. No one else is going to be present
You actually help HER will of rebellion and persona get stronger
She just wants to live with you and make you happy, no one will get hurt because of it
She is beginning to learn to tell people to back off though
You thought it was cute
The most healthy relationship in all honesty
Thinks of making a body pillow of you-
Haru Okumura
Might be the worst yandere of all
Literally kidnaps you and kills everyone you know in front of you with her axe so you would fear her and won’t try to run away
She would kill you too if you tried so you would stay with her forever
You are scared, and don’t dare to do anything
So yes, you have lost all the will of rebellion and your persona
She also took your phone away, so it's no use
Bad ending for you reader
Goro Akechi
Tries to convince you to join him instead
Gets angry when you don’t
That’s fine, he will just wait until Joker is killed on the 20th of November anyway
He just kidnapped you after finding out that Joker is still alive
You revealed that you already knew about his true nature, to which he doesn’t deny
Considering you are in his palace where he doesn’t see you as a threat, you don’t get to use your persona as you aren’t transformed
You slowly start to lose your sanity with him but hold on
You never do, you died as Akechi was killed in Shido’s palace, so his palace disappeared as well
No one knew what happened to you, you are only declared as missing

Hi! There were already a few maid cafe h/c requests. Can this theme be continued for other characters? Akechi (embarrassed, ordering pancakes in the end, haha), Yusuke and Mishima finding out that their s/o works at at maid cafe? Thanks!
Finding Out S/O Works at a Maid Cafe
Fandom: Persona 5
Character(s): Goro Akechi, Yuki Mishima, Yusuke Kitagawa
Type of Request: Headcanons
Note(s): It is really fun to write, so I'll happily keep writing for this idea!!
Tumblr media
Akechi
I don't know if he'd be embarrassed if he learned you work at a maid cafe. If anything, he'd be hiding a smug smile as he just thanks you for being his maid and asks that you take care of him.
Of course he gets pancakes. But he'd also get an omurice just to see if you put something cutesy on it or call him a bastard. He really wants to see how committed you are to this.
Really, Akechi makes so much money from his job that you really didn't have to get one yourself. But if you're really happy with this then he won't tell you what to do. That said, let him know if there are any less than savory customers and he'll take care of it.
Mishima
He was already dying at the idea of going to a maid cafe. The fact that you end up as his maid? Mishima's jaw drops and his face goes bright pink as he stammers about how this is an accident and he didn't do this to intentionally embarrass you.
Mishima is still dying. He knows it's you, but maybe that's what's making it worse. You just look so cute in the outfit and he knows the whole "master" thing is for your job but he is imploding.
He tries to calm down, he really does. But his face is still very pink as he's pointing at the menu what he wants to order. The temptation to buy extra stuff for you to do cutesy things kills him, but he knows if he actually did that then you'd really kill him either from anger later or from cuteness.
Yusuke
Ryuji mentioned that everyone needed to experience a maid cafe once in their life before they die. Yusuke finally had enough money so he did that. He doesn't know what he was expecting when he finally stepped inside but it wasn't you greeting him in a maid outfit.
Yusuke has so many questions, but he can wait. He does feel embarrassed, but you are doing your job so he'll try to be as normal as he can. Which isn't a lot for Yusuke.
Compliments your artistry when you bring out different dishes that have cutesy designs on them. He probably tries to do a quick sketch of you that he leaves as a gift when he's done. For once, he can say Ryuji was right.
