Getting into a new fandom and half of it is arguing about "shipping" ...
Good thing I am immune to "ship" discourse about whether a relationship in fiction is bad or unhealthy or whatever because I grew up on X-Men comics.

A little redraw for @apollosgiftofprophecy she's been deprived for too long
🫴🏻✨
Here's the Original
Which do you prefer? I think Commodus looks wayyy more sinister in this version and Lester looks more... Scared :(
The song I imagine playing in the background of this scene is "Bad Blood" by Taylor Swift 😄 it just fits

As much as I screamed giggled kicked my feet in the air when David Tennant appeared as the tenth doctor, I am also devastated and crying that I've reached the end of Chris Eccleston's run as the Ninth Doctor

What makes the dynamic between Joker and Maruki so tragic? I mean, other than Maruki being one of the few adults Joker trusted only to betray him?
I mean, that's kind of it, isn't it?
Joker and the phantom thieves whole m/o might be "getting back at shitty adults" but their kindness and heroism never once stopped at kids. From random momentos missions to your confidants, its all about proving their justice and seeking to save others from opressive authority.
But so rarely has an adult come so honestly and kindly to Joker than Maruki had. At the point in the story he's introduced in- Joker doesn't have anyone but his friends. Even Sojiro is still cold twards him and your other adult confidants are skeptical or distant still. His parents having to give him up and the cruelty of police burns bright in his mind still.
And here comes the doctor. He comes in with patience, and kindness, and generosity- and offers him a choice to sit at his table and share or not share. He is genuinely interested in what Joker has to say and values his input. Joker, who's words and claims and actions have been consistently met with threats, retaliation, or venom.
Maruki is one of the few adults that trusts and believes in joker from the start, and even up to and the end he always respected and cared about Joker- up to the end he always gave him the choice. There was nothing stopping him from snapping his fingers and making it all go away. Nothing stopping him from applying his sleeping beauty fate, except mutual respect and desire to have Joker see things his way.
He wants him to make a choice and he's wanting to make that choice in his direction. But he never took it away from him- and he met him and his ideals in battle. Thats the crazy thing about him is that.. everything came from empathy and love and a deep desire to protect people from pain he's felt before.
And Joker considers it, he falters, he agrees- because he wants the same thing Maruki does.. happiness, safety. You think it doesn't break his heart to see Haru and Futaba's parents back in the picture? To see his best friends happy- a Shiho without having to suffer from her experience or his best friend able to chase his dreams without pain?
But it goes against everything Joker believes in- what the phantoms believe in. They killed a god for that exact reason. But maruki is a man- a man with flaws. A man Joker is willing to almost get himself killed for as they hang off a crumbling palace, and a man he's willing to accept a ride from after all the shit he's done.. and let him guide him to the next destination in his life.
Man maruki fukin.. ugh fans face and ugly sobs

"gosh, I didn't see this interaction going sourly" man, idk, maybe if you go stalkerishly obtaining contact information for someone you know basically nothing about and text them hoping to form a connection, and don't consider they might not want this...that might be on you. maybe consider, y'know, not doing that. rather than telling them how hurt you are.

What did you think about Behlül’s relationships with Bihter and Nihal? Did he love either of them? Did either of them love him?
I think he did actually love both of them, but in his own way. He seems to have a tendency to have a great big romance that he quickly burns out and rinse and repeat with the next person he fancies.
As to whether he was loved, I'd say yes by both, but also in a limited way. I think he's kind of like the high school crush of a girl from a very small town, where the girl wants to date someone mostly because she thinks it's exciting at that age. And so her crush toward the guy develops more out of her daily life having a very limited pool of potential boyfriends, than out of any wow moment of attraction to that guy in particular.
For Bihter, I think she would have equally fallen for a different person who was young, handsome and charming, and consistently close at hand to observe.
But I don't know if she'd have slept with anyone who was not so casual as Behlül. His cheerful lack of morals and friendly persistence surely helped a bit to remove some mental barriers in her mind. With someone less happy-go-lucky, she'd maybe just have had lovesickness and stayed at that as a 'noble' kind of compromise between cheating and withering without experiencing real love.
There is a word I can't quite translate, 'prepustiti se' (to let yourself go, to abandon yourself to a feeling/situation, can be have positive or negative connotations), which I feel works for both Bihter and Nihal's feelings to Behlül.
They were first pursued by him and they seem to have almost purposefully convinced themselves into loving him. Both were lonely and desperate in different ways.
Bihter was in an unhappy marriage, I don't think I need to elaborate too much as she herself describes it all in a self-aware way in the novel.
As to Nihal, she was frankly somewhat neglected by her family. Yes, she's otherwise "spoiled", but they made huge decisions to remove her brother, and her governess, and her kitchen buddies, and didn't even tell her until the very moment it had already happened! Extremely frustrating and scary for such an already isolated girl. She lived from day to day not knowing who she could lose next, no wonder she got all emo.
So when the situation came that everyone was suddenly eager to marry her to a guy - one she already knew and trusted and casually bantered with - I think half of the appeal would be a young girl's physical attraction to Behlül as a man, but the other half would be the idea of finally keeping someone for herself (because her family couldn't very well decide to whoosh away her husband on a whim, lol). I can see why she'd accept the situation.

Prince Daemon had at last returned to court. Wearing a crown and styling himself King of the Narrow Sea, he appeared unannounced in the skies above King’s Landing on his dragon, circling thrice above the tourney grounds … but when at last he came to earth, he knelt before his brother and offered up his crown as a token of his love and fealty. Viserys returned the crown and kissed Daemon on both cheeks, welcoming him home, and the lords and commons sent up a thunderous cheer as the sons of Prince Baelon Targaryen were reconciled. Amongst those cheering loudest was Princess Rhaenyra, who was thrilled at the return of her favorite uncle, and begged him to stay a while. Prince Daemon did remain at King’s Landing for half a year, and even resumed his seat on the small council, but neither age nor exile had changed his nature. Daemon soon took up again with old companions from the gold cloaks and returned to the establishments along the Street of Silk where he had been such a valued patron. Though he treated Queen Alicent with all the courtesy due her station, there was no warmth between them, and men said that the prince was notably cool toward her children, especially his nephews Aegon and Aemond, whose birth had pushed him still lower in the order of succession. Princess Rhaenyra was a different matter. Daemon spent long hours in her company, enthralling her with tales of his journeys and battles. He gave her pearls and silks and books and a jade tiara said once to have belonged to the Empress of Leng, read poems to her, dined with her, hawked with her, sailed with her, entertained her by making mock of the greens at court, the “lickspittles” fawning over Queen Alicent and her children. He praised her beauty, declaring her to be the fairest maid in all the Seven Kingdoms. Uncle and niece began to fly together almost daily, racing Syrax against Caraxes to Dragonstone and back.
The Rogue Prince, or, A King’s Brother × Fire and Blood (George R. R. Martin)
... whose birth had pushed him still lower in the order of succession...
... or perhaps he just didn't like the tools his sister-in-law popped up to replace his beloved niece with? It's not like Daemon showed some kind of political amibtion ever. He's attention whore, not powerhungry conspirator.

Some of my irl friends think its weird or suspicious that I was/am friends with adults online when I was a minor but like. I've been friends with these people for 3-5 years. I think if they wanted to be creepy they would've started awhile ago ngl

isnt it kinda obvious that hobie's (most likely) a young adult. he's such a cooler older brother type. the others look up to him n think hes mad cool (esp miles). he doesn't have the same softer facial features that pavitr miles and gwen do. the fact that the director fr just said hes intended to be 19-20....
also bc ppl mention the "jokes" abt gwen and hobie being a thing as proof hobie is a teen: i don't think its a shocker that its Implied before miles meets hobie that he might be w gwen, bc all miles hears right then is "my crush is hanging out w another guy???" plus its made pretty obvious hobie and gwen aren't into each other At All and he's more of a mentor figure for her.
that being said i'll eat my hat if it turns out i'm wrong later on lmao

Tyler is genuinely a good love interest but I don't like that he's blond. makes his character design a little too similar to Merlinda and it creeps me out for no reason

Having immortal characters whose age you don't really know is fun... Honestly they could be anything between 10 and 200 years old, but let's go with "a bit older than they look" so it's not too creepy when they're involved in a romance plot lol

What different side of Daemon was his relationship with Laena supposed to show?
According to what I've seen, He loved her in the books and was happy with their life and there were meant to be some nice moments of them. he is also meant to be a better father, not a great one, but a better one. it would have been interesting to see post time jump that he grew up and was happy with his new family and then going back to his old toxic ways after losing the woman he loves. Who was never meant to be a placeholder for Rhaenyra.

So, I used to watch The Vampire Diaries every single week since the moment it released back in 2009. I saw the commercial and as soon as I found out the main character shared my first name, I was sold.
Ian Somerhalder -Damon- was one of my first male celebrity crushes (after Jeffrey Dean Morgan and pretty much every main Supernatural character). Anyway, I think I just might have to rewatch the entire TVD series, just to hear Ian say my name.
I have issues.
