Fun Cyberpunk ISAT Au idea!
Curtsy of the Lives worth living discord for helping cook this.
So, The King is a Cyborg Corporate Head, who took over and bought out the House of Change. Their 'curse' is a virus that puts people comatose through their Cybernetic implants, which he only started unleashing after he took over.
Every device and robot created by his corporation starts being controlled by a malevolent AI, that constantly cry loudly and attack wildly. They've been referred to as 'Sadnesses'.
The 'Change belief' is in fact Change inc., a cyberware corporation that was trying to be ethical and help people out, using corprate leverage to try and change Vaugarde for the better. Then the king took over, and ripped it to the ground.
Mirabelle: Mira joined the company because she genuinely believed in it's goals. She was snuck out by the old head with a cutting edge antivirus software before the place went down. Though, she has barely any Cyberware herself, which combined makes her nearly immune to the curse. She wants to stop the king and save people!
Isabeau: A street samurai who used to work for Change inc. for a time. When Mirabelle came to Jouvente, trying to get help, mot turned her down for being a Corpo, and tied to a company that had stopped being reputable. Isa however, noticed how genuine she was, and joined up.
Odile: She used to work in Ka bue, as a factory worker. When she started a riot, things went wrong. Her father sacrificed himself, begging her to live, as he helped her flee to Vaugarde. She changed her name to something Vaugardian, reclaiming something from her mother, and then spent her days seeing how far she can break the law without being caught. When the kings curse just started going out, she decided to help as someone with a little experience.
Bonnie: Bonnies sister had to use a lot of cybernetics to keep up, and make enough for the both of them. Some of which were made by Change inc. AFTER the king took over. When the king unleashed the curse, Nille was hit by both the curse, and the Sadness code., robotic enough to count for it. She managed to hold back her own body just long enough to help Bonnie flee. Bonnie uses the knowledge they gained taking care of Nille to help cook, maintain cybernetics, and fix up some body code.
Siffrin: A hacker and rouge. They pilot a proxy android body, not really meeting the party IRL at all. But their skills are unmatched, and happily joined the party.
But when Dormont happened, they went to a quiet spot, and thought to themselves 'You want to stay with them'. And then the timeloop happened.
As it continued on, they realized some oddities. They don't remember where they're from. Sometimes they can hear the king's thoughts when facing him. They... can't see where they really are...
Loop: A hologram that pesters both Siffrin and the party, only directly revealing them to Siffrin. They know the entire House. All events within the timeframe. Perfectly encoded into their circuitry. To the point where several of their loops were actually fully simulated. But now, now they can just manipulate things from the sidelines! They can find a way forwards. To fulfill the Main Directive.
King: They remember fragments. Fragments of a perfect island. They took over this human body, tricking it's old host into implants that would let them control them. And now. Now, even if they must trample the will of the people, they will remake that perfect world. That is their Main Directive.
'The Island' was once a collective AI simulation, based on a location that had been long gone. But a corporation, concerned with it's power, dismantled it with a virus. It resisted, but it's various components fragmented into various mostly disconnected pieces. Siffrin and the King are two of them.
The King is designed to run activities to fulfill objectives. Their current objective is to remake the island. They are using their curse to copy and upload minds into stored copies of people, to be placed into the new system once the framework is set and Reality is no longer necessary for them.
Siffrin is designed to simulate possibilities. But with how much resources the king has obtained for the 'island' they can take that ability to a new level and literally warp reality, in a way that matches their function. Literally exploring new possibilities by turning back time. And the end goal? Was set at that tree. When they told themselves what they wanted.
Extra details:
'Ghosts' are Siffrin's psyche bleeding into stuff they hack, and reacting to their subconscious thoughts. As well as the physical version of Errors in the time manipulation software.
In act 5, Siffrin just straight up starts to override the king and sadnesses. By the time he reaches the king, it's more out of habit. The sadnesses are gone, the king can barely act. But he does manage to force back Siffrin's psyche from himself in the end by using the curse code on him.
There's likely more to this AU, but this is what we have so far.

The Dreamer
Back to my Signalis TTRPG (thanks for the encouragements)
This part is about setting up the bioresonant dreamer who was experiment on by AEON and who is causing the reality breakdown.
The dreamer is a gestalt unit and their memory prompts are determined by their planet of origin. The GM and possibly the players will use these prompts to explore the dreamer memories, kind of like the first person memories of Arianne.
Another conflict that could be explored if the GM want to bring back parts of Arianne is that the dreamer could be slowly merging with her memories laced into the recovered signal, one of the things at stake could be to find out if the dreamer will remain themself or get rewritten into an Arianne persona (kind of like Isa, in a way).
The GM can pick or roll the origin of the dreamer.
Busan (The Sun card)
Running through the busy and opulent city street, notice an EUSAN ship fly toward the spaceport.
Being assigned as a guide to a young EUSAN diplomat, they look so stern
Visiting an art museum, the EUSAN diplomat is awestruck by the display of culture, your hands touches
In the diplomatic suite, the EUSAN diplomat look for spying device, then show you a EUSAN tarot deck
Hiding from imperial troopers in a locker, the EUSAN diplomat holding you tightly
The bright light of the sun, viewed from the window of the EUSAN diplomatic craft leaving Busan
Vineta (The Tower card)
Sitting on the roof of a ruined building, watching fragments of the moon burn throught the atmosphere
Playing on makeshift docks with friends, suddenly you slip and splash into the water
Helping the EULE units distributing food to starving gestalt workers
Watching STAR units drag something out of the water, you have a scary premonition
Alert siren, people running to shelters and battle stations, being separated from a friend
Traveling in a fast skimmer over the waves, smiling as you approach the hovering EUSAN spaceship
Kitezh (The Lovers card)
Preparing your farm for the sandstorm, noticing a small EUSAN craft crash in the distance
Walking through the red sandstorm, dragging the wounded EUSAN pilot in a brancard
Inside your farm bedroom, taking care of the recovering EUSAN pilot, they notice your divination sand mandala
Working the field, the EUSAN insist on helping you even if they did not yet fully recover.
Climbing and fixing a dusty radio antenna with the EUSAN pilot, watching together the patterns of the Kitezh dunes.
An EUSAN spycraft land near your farm, your friend tell you to hide but too late their masked robotic units saw you.
Rotfront (The Moon card)
Arriving at the meteorological station, meeting your new coworker, she offer you some warm coffee.
Taking ice samples at night, hearing eery cracking of the ice, imaging a dark shape moving under your feet
Clear day, taking some reading outside, your coworker laugh and start a snowball fight with you
Looking for your coworker in the snowstorm, seeing her silhouette in the distance, the ice crack, the shape…
Waking up at the meteorological station, red painted ration chips left for you on the table, it is mondfest day
A STAR unit is interrogating you, while another one is looking at sketches of red eyes and a strange creature
Heimat (The Star card)
Entering the Heimat university hall, feeling small and lost, bumping into another student
Studying astrogation charts with your new friend, talking together excitingly about astronomy
Looking at star charts microfilms, your notice your friend reading a Penrose Program pamphlet
In your bedroom suddenly having an inspiration, frantically scribing astrogation calculation
Military parade in the street, moving through the crowd to meet your friend, both of you excited
Rainy day, a crumbled Penrose pamphlet in your hand. You watch the long trail of a starship leaving Heimat fragile atmosphere
Leng (The Death card)
Walking out of the space shuttle with other political prisoners, noticing the cold stars above
Being stuck in a malfunctioning elevator with another gestalt unit, she slip you a note
A gestalt unit fall down due to fatigue and exhaustion
Predicting safe wall code while your friend note them down, someone else is doing the lookout
Sneaking into the radio room, the radio suddenly start playing music
In the interrogation room, the light glitches, a Storch tell you that you have been selected for transfer
I may rework some of those, not certain if the prompts need to be less specific or not.

I'm probably going to do a terrible job of articulating myself here but every time I think about the worldbuilding in Hatoful Boyfriend, I think about the implications of having the birds simply have adopted the structure and policies of human society and go insane.
It's clearly originally just for the ridiculousness of it all for the players, but AGH it explains so much regarding the extremely rampant classism/racism/speciesism and how apparently normalized it is. It also, to me, adds a bit of moral nuance to the Dove - Hawk Party conflict.
(Long post under the cut. I'm so sorry I just kept going.)
First off, I'm obsessed with the concept of the birds becoming sapient and simply... taking over a society that was not structured for them. It leads to difficulties in universe! Bird wings are not made for doing tasks that human hands can do naturally - there's a couple instances where the characters ask for Hiyoko's assistance or express envy since she can just do the task more easily than they can. The birds are outright disadvantaged in certain areas of life, and yet, the society is in such turmoil due to the newness of it all that there still aren't really any workarounds for stuff like this.
Not that there haven't been any suggested solutions, such as the Labor 9 series, put forward initially by the Dove Party. Yeah, you know, that one throwaway line about how the party that up until this point have been the "good guys" wanted to take still semi-conscious human brains and make robotic slaves out of them Cyberman-style? What the hell. And what gets me is that Shuu was able to find the initial proposal, which he really only made tweaks to, which means that the project was at least close to being finished on the conceptual/planning/design phase before somebody went "hey this is a little fucked up actually".
The Dove Party wants peaceful coexistence with the humans, while the Hawk Party wants to eliminate humanity entirely. But we don't really go into how these two lines of thought evolved. I believe I have a suggestion for at least one part of the puzzle though.
Of all the birds in Hatoful, who enjoys the most privileges and the highest status? Fantails, it would seem. A breed of pigeon that is popular as a pet, considered beautiful and sought after, and achieve high accolades in shows and competitions - for clarity's sake, fantails were valuable in human society, and this status appears to have transferred when birds became sapient and took over. Conversely, which birds are ranked lower and often blocked from entering certain higher class places? Rock doves, who, in human society, are given an unfairly bad reputation, and considered anything from unclean and dirty, to nuisances, to pests. Again, this status transferred over when the birds took over.
So, while we don't know too many of the birds who make up the agents of the Dove and Hawk Party, let's take a look at who we do know of.
Fantails (Yuuya, Dove Party) are considered valuable over other doves and pigeons for being specially bred for their striking tail feathers
Cockatiels (Leone, Dove Party) are some of the most popular and beloved companion birds, kept as pets and considered very friendly
Rock doves (Ryuuji, Hawk Party) are considered unclean pests who receive a bad reputation, and are generally not treated with respect or appreciation <;- notable thing to mention here is that Ryuuji actually does like humans - I think he was only Hawk affiliated for the grant money and research facilities, which... fair enough man.
Chukar partridges (Shuu/Isa, Hawk Party) are game birds, specifically bred and released to be killed and eaten, and considered a delicacy
...do you... see what's going on here?
(I haven't mentioned Tohri as he's a special case. Give me a minute and I'll get to him!)
The birds we see in the Dove Party are those birds that were already viewed in a more favourable light by humans, a favourability that transferred over to their new society. Of course they are more likely to advocate for coexistence! They have less to lose, overall. And the Labor 9 series, and how that could've ever been suggested in the first place, suddenly makes a lot of sense. For many of these birds, society the way it exists now benefits them. Some of these high ranking Dove Party folks may be less about actual peace and justice (like Yuuya or Leone) and more about maintaining the current order of things - humans coexisting under their control, while they get to maintain their status... which is itself a product of human invention.
The birds we see in the Hawk Party, by contrast, are looked down on or hunted. Historically, even before bird sapience, they did not have a harmonious relation with humans - and it's likely this status carried over to their new society also, with many of these birds being more likely to have been disenfranchised. Their goal of elimination is therefore reactionary towards perceived threat. After all, the people who suffer when things go wrong aren't the ones at the top - it's all the people who sit at the bottom of the social rung; the vulnerable members of society who do not enjoy the same advantages as others.
Of course, the Hawk Party has built itself up into such a powerful group that they may have lost touch with this starting foundation - the only thing that remains is likely that reactionary fear. After all, people caught up in the actual conflict - Nageki, Hitori, Ryouta, and Hiyoko - see this kind of horrible bloodshed firsthand (firstwing?) and just want it to stop.
Again, it's not usually the people in these political factions who are the ones caught up in their conflict. It's the individuals who lack power or influence.
But that's just the political groups themselves. On an individual level, it's kind of interesting to look at and theorize where along the spectrum our core cast falls based on their species/breed.
Ryouta (rock dove) is actually rather indifferent towards humanity as a whole - he just likes Hiyoko. However, his witnessing of the Heartful House tragedy led him to abhor violence and unnecessary loss of life, and I'd imagine his mother's later illness solidified this. Ryouta doesn't seem overly interested in political struggles or the broader implications of a lot of things - he's actually a rather self-oriented character when it comes down to it (this is not a judgment, nor a bad thing! I love my boy!). Ryouta just doesn't want to lose people, really. A conflict would mean more loss, and rock doves seem to have to struggle enough as is.
Hiyoko (human) is the daughter of two diplomats, but interestingly, we don't get to see much of her political views on things - perhaps because even if she expressed them, it wouldn't really matter - she's not herself a diplomat, and humans are the lowest of the low - her going to a fancy school doesn't really change that. Social-wise, except with her friends, she is tolerated, not accepted. Yet, it's safe to say that Hiyoko strongly disapproves of people who flaunt their status - she's quick to not take crap from Sakuya, to get angry on behalf of Ryouta and herself over the gull clerk's assholery, and also to defend Miru and Kaku as living beings worthy of respect. Interestingly though, she also uses Okosan's status as a fantail to get Ryouta to let go of him and let him do whatever he wants so... it's kind of unclear what her firm beliefs are. Perhaps, as a human, she still values fantails more highly. I don't know honestly. Implicit bias?
Sakuya, Yuuya and Okosan (fantail pigeons) may share the same breed, but their experiences are highly different. Sakuya is largely separate from the human-bird conflict, as he is unlikely to be directly affected by it. As such, a lot of his story and development has to do with actually learning and un-learning about the world outside of the limitations of his "father's" classist views, which he simply mimics without understanding the larger implications. Yuuya and Okosan, on the other hand, may be fantails, but are also looked down on and often treated as inferior - Yuuya for being a "half-breed" and for his reputation, and Okosan for being closer to feral than a lot of other doves. Interestingly, these two show more interest and respect for the individual than Sakuya does, who often makes sweeping generalizations based on status - which makes sense to a degree, as they've been on the receiving end of this kind of treatment, whereas Sakuya hasn't. Okosan believes that each person has their own "wonderful names" (read: identity outside of breed or status), while Yuuya is a genuine fighter for justice who is able to get to the heart of people, especially in Holiday Star. However, even though they have experienced classism, they still have certain privileges with regards to species/race - take Okosan's shock when Hiyoko and Ryouta are barred entry from his favourite store. None of them are quite as out of place in everyday society as some of the other birds here, and it's notable that "diverse" St. Pigeonations still apparently has a significant fantail student population.
Shuu (chukar partridge) is really interesting, as he doesn't particularly care for the politics of the Hawk Party, and yet his role as a killer/hunter of both his fellow birds and humans is an interesting reversal of the chukar being a game bird. Shuu also has a disability (his semi-paralyzed right side) which hinders him in bird society even more than most. His extreme, yet coldly logical solution to kill all humans to stop the fighting between them, could be as much his rationality, as his joy in the sadistic, as a reactionary survivalism (remember he was caught up in a human terrorist attack as a child - while overall he considered this beneficial to him, he also did lose much of his colour vision and the use of his right side, so it did leave him weakened). Shuu attains control by "flipping the script" as it were.
Tohri (golden pheasant) starts out in the Hawk Party, but much like his colleagues, doesn't seem to care much for their politics. Golden pheasants are game birds whose eggs can be eaten, but are more often bred and kept for their plumage - they're not prey, but they're not exactly pets either. All this puts Tohri in this interesting position of being somewhat in the middle of this conflict, and indeed he goes on to be a part of (found?) the Crow Party - an opportunistic group that seeks to benefit from the overall conflict. Golden pheasants are birds intended to be admired for their beauty and intelligence more than anything else, benefitting in some ways from humans without a strong connection or a reliance, and Tohri's opportunism fits nicely with that. (As an aside, our sole crow character, Albert, is also something of an opportunist, being an assassin on the fringes of society.)
Hitori and Kazuaki (button quails) are somewhat interesting. It would be both expected and understandable if Hitori held hatred for humanity after the Heartful House incident, or even before then, considering they were all war orphans. Instead, he doesn't seem to harbour any particular ill-will - he seems totally fine around Hiyoko, and her being a human has nothing to do with his reticence with letting Nageki hang out with her in the shrine universe. Kazuaki, too, doesn't seem to mind Hiyoko being human and isn't afraid of her any more than he is anyone else. While quails are game birds, with both meat and eggs being eaten, button quails are too tiny for that and are mostly kept as pets - they are considered cute, silly, and entertaining, though a bit too jumpy to be outright companion birds. The quails don't seem to experience too much in the way of speciesism (except arguably with the whole mistaken identity of Kazuaki's corpse... there may be a bit of an "all quails look the same" thing going on perhaps). At the very least, they are able to occupy teaching positions at a renowned school as respected intellectuals, and did go to university. Still, it's kind of a known thing that you don't put button quails with bigger, more dominant birds, since larger birds will often pick on them or even outright try to kill them simply because they're small and shy - this may, in hindsight, explain some of Kazuaki's demeanour.
Nageki (mourning dove) and Anghel (luzon bleeding heart dove) are the two who are uncommon bird species in Japan. Nageki is another war orphan, who would be forgiven for harbouring resentment for humanity, but instead is appalled at the violence and made a huge sacrifice to get it to stop. It's kind of unclear how Nageki fits into this society, as mourning doves are not prey or pets - they're wild birds. They live on the outside of the human world, and while Nageki exists within current bird society, he likely doesn't have a designated status within it. Nageki is unfortunately also alienated from much of the action due to his illness and later his untimely death - this is why a lot of Nageki's thoughts are somewhat from an observer's perspective, with his most emotional moments being derived from his rare direct experiences - specifically the Heartful House tragedy and the human killings he was forced into, which solidified a really firm stance of not wanting anyone to suffer like that. Anghel is another outsider, this time genuinely a foreigner, as opposed to Nageki. Again, Luzons are wild birds, not prey or pets, and so it's a bit unclear what his status is. This might explain why Hiyoko repeats Sakuya's remarks towards him without apparently realizing they're actually insults - Anghel is removed enough from the conflict she is familiar with that it seems she doesn't quite... get it. Again, Anghel's role is as this strange kind of omniscient observer, whose perspective is closer to the player's than to the rest of the cast. He definitely frowns on the Hawk Party's overall goal - the Demon Spores are evil to him, and his main objective is to stop them from spreading, as they would cause damage to both birds and humans. I attribute his morals to his mother having raised him right lol. The lack of a clear status for both of them may be why they appear to take the stance of judgment based on individual actions, but are not heavily involved in the conflict itself - while humans tend to like mourning doves and luzons, there isn't much interaction that goes on between them. Nageki and Anghel are simply less embroiled in bird society's human-derived status conflict, which makes them both outsiders and observers.
As a bonus note, Azami, Rabu and Kenzaburou are all species of birds that can be kept as pets (java sparrow, budgie, parakeet), which may account for some of their friendliness towards Hiyoko, and Kenzaburou's willingness to hire her. Kenzaburou is even a bit old-fashioned it seems - he sleeps in a cage, which implies his ancestors were probably pet birds themselves. It's likely he, in particular, has more positive views on humans.
...Please tell me I'm not the only one who spent ages thinking about the implications and workings of a fictional post-apocalyptic bird society. Also I hope this made sense I kind of went off the rails here.
#storyrambles#anyways this was supposed to be a quick write up. yet here I am three hours later. does this even read properly anymore. help.#the one thing i'm a little unclear on here is how the ichijou family fits into all this. ichijou mino the headmaster was a nicobar pigeon#i find it likely mino was hawk affiliated if we're going with the trend here (nicobars are heavily exploited for food/#gizzard stones/zoos/illegal pet trade) and also note that he signed off on the human representative directive#but i want to know how shuu fits into that as he was formerly ichijou utsuro. who has the ichijou name? why different species?#are they prominent benefactors of the hawks? interesting to think on#also i was thinking about the gulls - they seem to be fairly high class but gulls definitely do not have a good reputation with humans lmao#however gulls get to do whatever they want a lot of the time because they are loud. and like to bully others (including humans)#i hereby propose they gained power by doing much the same once birds gained sapience hjfhbdf#hatoful boyfriend#hatoful spoilers#holiday star#hatoful meta

Sucy didn't listen to music a lot but when she did, her playlist was admittedly pretty drab. She liked working in silence most of the time so she couldn't see much use in having a preference for music, but when she did she just let on whatever was on the radio, if there was.
Her roommate couldn't say the same. Actually, Sucy recants her statement about not having preference; she couldn't tolerate pop music for her life. Especially the ones that stayed blasting on the radio for months before being blown over by a newer, more obnoxious pop song.
Her siblings back in Cebu liked music though, enough for them to blast through their speakers and let the whole household know, not giving a shit if it bothered the other dwellers inside the house. However, as much as she claims she disliked the noise her siblings claim to be music, she couldn't help but let it trickle into her playlist. Hours upon hours of karaoke accounted for that.
So it's not weird to find some Filipino classics between the classical ones, the only other genre that Sucy could listen to while working. Some Eraserheads, UDD, Rivermaya, Itchyworms, Asin, hell, even Apo Hiking Society was in it.
Akko though, oh Sucy hates Akko's taste for music.
Robotic voices, insane fast-paced rhythms, either or also Kpop, Jpop, or just the latest Top 100 in the West. It was a mess. Much messier than whatever Sucy had back home. At least the language was familiar. This storm of a noise was not.
But Sucy sooner or later made peace with it when over time, she slowly let her walls down around Akko. Well, more like Akko had successfully knocked them down. Even after being treated like Sucy's guinea pig for her chemical experiments, she is still up and opening her arms to Sucy. A little too wide open.
One night, when Akko had come back from an afterparty that O'niell (the redhead asshat which she hung out so much) had held, she was drunk. Wasted. And accidentally puked on the foot of Sucy's desk. To be honest, she expected Akko to not come back until morning, as per usual of her shenanigans on campus.
She told Akko to clean her mess up before going to bed and went back to sleep annoyed. Akko, surprisingly, did as she was told. But had also climbed onto Sucy's side of the room. The sudden dip in Sucy's bed shook her awake.
Sucy leveled her drunk ass with a deathly stare. "What."
"What? It's cold in my bed."
"With all those stupid stuffed animals?"
"It's different," Akko sniffled. "Please? Just this once."
Sucy stared at Akko's face enough to see if this was the result of the foul gin in her breath and contemplated stuffing her in her duvet and letting her suffocate. But something must've happened at the party because Akko didn't usually look like that. Upon closer inspection, her eyes were glassy. Nose red, not from the cold, but from an obvious meltdown. After a few more seconds of staring, Sucy begrudgingly let her in.
And maybe it was the remaining alcohol in her system because then Akko turned her head and whispered, "Y'know, you're really nice."
"Shut up and go to sleep."
"No, for real. Like, thanks for putting up with my shit."
"Lotte puts up with you too."
"Yeah, love her for that. Ne," Akko suddenly turned and now they were face to face.
Too close, Sucy thinks. She hates that it's so close like this.
"Can you play some of your songs?"
"Why?"
"Dunno', just feelin like listening."
"If you're gonna start dancing on my bed, I will kick you out of this room and you're going to have to sleep in the hallway."
Akko giggles in this drunkenly stupid way and Sucy cannot believe that out of all the times Akko has laughed, this is the one that gets Sucy to think she's cute. She hopes it's dark enough that Akko doesn't notice her face turning red.
"I won't! My feet are way too tired for that," Akko shifts. "I trust you to have great taste. Just play anything. I'll like it."
"And if you don't?"
"It's you," Akko laughs. "I won't."
Somehow, Sucy lets her do this. And she opened her downloaded playlist; the only playlist on her phone, and set it down. It hummed out Orange and Lemon's Hanggang Kailan into the room, low enough to not be of an annoyance but enough for the lyrics to be heard.
Sucy blushes at the random pick of the song but doesn't move to change it. Fortunately, Akko doesn't understand Tagalog and just hums.
"Hehe, see. You have good taste."
"Shut up and go to sleep."
After that, Akko goes still and silent. Sucy can't do the same. She can sleep through Akko's snores like every other night, but when the music she typically has for the background is suddenly open like this, she suddenly becomes much more aware of the lyrics.
Umuwi ka na baby 'Di na ako sanay ng wala ka Mahirap ang mag-isa At sa gabi'y hinahanap-hanap kita
"Jesus Christ," Sucy whispers and turns so that her back is to Akko's. The bed is too small to move a lot. "This song is so corny."
She hears, feels Akko chuckling. "I like it."
The song is slow to end, and when it does, Armi Millare's voice comes out, serenading,
Ba't 'di papatulan ang pagsuyong nagkulang? Tayong umaasang hilaga't kanluran Ikaw ang hantungan, at bilang kanlungan mo Ako ang sasagip sa 'yo, whoa-oh
Again, this song is slow to close. When it does, Magnus Haven, a band Sucy isn't exactly familiar with but her sister had told her to listen, comes on. Sucy thought Akko was finally asleep before she heard her humming along to the second chorus. Sucy stills and lets her be, her eyes slowly closing, mind losing to sleep.
"... What does tadhana mean?"
"Huh?" Sucy rasps. "Destiny, or I guess, fate. Why?"
"Huh," Akko whispers the word again. "So you like those kinda songs, huh Sucy?"
Sucy blushed and was about to reprimand that Akko's taste in music wasn't better but then she heard the other girl snoring, already asleep.
Maybe it started from there, maybe earlier or later, but it was certainly a factor in how and why Sucy developed a crush like that.
Sucy wasn't as uncaring to Akko's business as she claims to be. As her roommate, she admittedly was more concerned for her than she let on. So when Sucy notices that Akko is not in the mood for experiments, or has other problems to deal with, Sucy gives her some allowance and lets her do what she thinks would calm her down. Letting her blast her music and dance her stress away, or letting her listen to Sucy's music and let her ask some dumb questions that would take her mind off what was confusing her.
Sucy is no white knight though. She won't be the one to save Akko in her every state. Sucy rationalizes her feeling of it being a result of proximity. And she won't let her heart get the best of her.
But one night, when Akko comes back to the room, Sucy notices her head is down. She is looking at something, but Sucy can't make it out.
That night, Akko asks if they could share the bed again. It's a cold night, Sucy rationalizes and lets her. Somehow, not even requested, Sucy hesitatingly places her arm across Akko's neck. Neither of them moves. Sucy waits.
"Diana asked me out today," Akko whispers. Sucy felt herself turn to stone. It's a moment before Akko says, "I don't know what she sees in a klutz like me."
everything.
Sucy holds her tongue and slowly breathes, trying to not let the night's cold make her freeze and give her an excuse to let Akko be trapped in her arms. Instead, she forces herself to sit up. Akko is facing away from her, looking at her hand.
Maybe this'll be the last time, Sucy thinks and her hand sneaks to Akko's free hand and touches it. It flinches a bit before slowly letting their fingers intertwine together. It's intimate like this. But Sucy knows this wouldn't be anything but platonic.
"Ne," Akko whispers again. "Will you play some of your songs again?"
And so Sucy does. When she sets her phone down, she slouches slightly, and unconsciously gathers a strand of Akko's hair in her free hand, playing with it absentmindedly. Akko doesn't say anything.
Sucy doesn't say she's finally made a separate playlist which consists of songs Akko said she liked.
Time goes to a crawl as Sucy's chest grows heavier. As the night goes on, as Akko's eyes shut to sleep, Juan Karlos's and Sucy's voice goes,
"Oh, 'di ba? Nakakaputang ina Tayo'y lumilipad, at ako'y iniwan mo pa 'Di ba? Ginawa mo pa akong tanga Tayo'y lumilipad, at ako'y iniwan mo, hmm"
#ayyyy suakko angst cuz i got inspired by some opm#suakko#lwa#little witch academia#sucy manbavaran#atsuko kagari#idk just take this word vomit and very VERY loosely connected lyrics from different songs

Artemis gets recruited in S1 of stargirl for dhd
"We need to stick together," Courtney hissed.
"Don't worry, we got this," Rick said, flipping the hourglass. Golden sand began to spill into the other half, and he got ready to charge. Artemis, hefted the mace Courtney had offered her, a feral grin spreading across her face.
"Yeah. We find the guy and beat his head in," she said. "Easy peasy. On three?"
"No! Not easy peasey!" Beth said, suddenly panicked. She pointed down the hall at the two figures approaching. "They aren't the Gambler! That's--" she paused, listening to the AI in her goggles "Sportsmaster and Tigress
Artemis pivoted, Rick just a step behind her. Down the hall, Sportsmaster gripped a metal bat.
They stared at each other, tense.
"Mom?" Artemis suddenly broke the silence. " Dad? What the-- I thought you were supposed to be on date night!"
"Artemis?" Sportsmaster asked, raising his mask and pointing the bat at her. "You're supposed to be at home."
"Uh," Courtney squeaked, gripping the Cosmic Staff tightly.
Tigress gave a loud sigh. "Alright," she said. "Let's do this. Fair fight, tap out when you need to, sweetie."
"First blood?" Artemis questioned as she held up the mace.
"What is going ON?" Courtney asked. "Wait-- stick together--" But Artemis was already swinging, and Rick and Yolanda didn't wait before charging Sportsmaster--that was, Mr. Crock.
Rick dodged the bat, punching hard, and Artemis landed a blow with the shaft of her mace, blocked by her mom's forearm. Tigress flipped her easily, but smiled. " Nice fall, Artemis. Textbook. Try that swing again."
"Midnite, can you stop the Gambler?" Courtney asked frantically. Whatever this was, it wasn't good for the JSA.
"I'm trying," Beth said. "I don't know."
The Crocks pushed the fight back, out towards the parking lot. Rick grabbed an entire car to throw.
"Good," Sportsmaster said approvingly. "Using superior strength is a great move against an opponent. But sometimes they're used to that and if you underestimate them--" he swung the bat hard, taking out one of Rick's knees. "It doesn't go so great. Stay down, Hourboy, you're done."
"No!" Courtney aimed the staff. Sportsmaster sidestepped the blow.
"Hey! I'm a man of my word. Relax, he's fine under there. Probably." Sportsmaster tossed a hockey puck. Yolanda clawed it out of the air, sending it skittering back towards him before it exploded.
Sportsmaster tugged off the mask, and yeah, Courtney for sure recognized him. How had she not put together that Artemis's dad was the weird gym guy?
"Alrighty, kid, you got me." He held up his arm, revealing a tiny bit of blood from a scrape.
"I... did?" Courtney asked. then straightened her shoulders. "I mean, I did. So now you're going to tell the JSA everything you know about your evil plan."
He tutted a little. "I don't think that was on the table? Hey babe, was that on the table?" he called to Tigress, still trading blows with Artemis, almost perfectly timed.
"It was not," she said with a sharp smile. "Maybe next time. Although..."
She trailed off. Crusher glanced up, and whistled. "Nice robot."
Rick crawled out from under the car as STRIPE touched down.
"Get away from them," Pat said through the speaker. "K--team, climb on."
Crusher waved. "Hey! I know that voice. Pat? Pat! Nice team you've got, but they need to work on their discipline."
"We'll take Artemis home," Paula said.
"...." said Pat. "Come again?"
"It's fine," Artemis threw him a thumbs up. "It's my parents."
"Your parents." Pat repeated. "Are ISA?"
"She didn't know," Courtney and Paula said in unison.
"So, Arty," Crusher said. "You really wanna do this? this team?"
Artemis nodded, sweaty and beaming. "Yeah," she said. "I do."
Crusher and Paula glanced at each other. "Well, honey?" Paula asked.
"Yeah, why not? I like Pat more than Jordan, anyways," Crusher nodded. "Team huddle?"
Artemis tried waving her friends over. They hung back.
"I'm sorry, what am I missing?" Pat said, still ensconced in the robot.
"Oh, we're switching sides," Crusher said. "Duh? Get with it, Pat. Oh, shoot, Babe? Can you handle Steven real fast?"
"I can do that," Paula agreed, slipping off into the shadows. "See you at the..."
"Pit stop," Crusher filled in. "Yeah, let's go have a chat, right?"
~
Pat did not want to get out of the robot. So he didn't. Crusher didn't seem to mind, whistling as he peeked at the blueprints still on the table.
"These are nice, bud."
"Thanks," Pat said, sounding as stiff and awkward as he felt.
"So. Bet you've got questions."
"A few," Pat said, glad that Courtney and the other kids were having hot chocolate up on the loft, out of Sportsmaster's reach. "Are you going to answer them?"
"Maybe. Depends." Crusher said. "Ask and we'll see."
"Ok," Pat says. "Sure, why the heck not. What's the ISA doing here?"
"Being really boring, mostly," Crusher said easily. "Like... 8 years of doing nothing, really. Old Icy liked the look of this place so here we all are."
"All. Who else?"
"Oh, well, you know about Brainwave. Your girl put him in a coma. Handy. Fiddler--not the one you knew, he died. His wife. She's really uptight, no fun at all. Gambler, unless he decided to be real stupid."
"Do I want to know?" Pat asked.
"Eh. You've got that No Killing rule, yeagh?"
"Yes," Pat said, exasperated.
"Then probably not." Crusher shrugged. "Wizard, but he's dead, hence Paula and my problem. Dragon King."
"Dragon King? He's still alive?"
"Mmm, yeah. Freaky shit, that guy, it's pretty cool sometimes but. Ugh. Not a lick of civic pride."
"Terrible parent," Paula said, dropping from a window Pat could have sworn couldn't even open. "Not a speck of interest in his daughter." She smiled. "Sharpe's handled. He had a very urgent trip to deal with. But you know him, honey."
"He's gonna squeal..."
"So why don't we go deal with Jordan now?"
"Wait," Pat said. "Deal with like kill? I thought he was your..."
"Friend?" Crusher asked. He made a face. " I guess. More than the other guys. But he did kill Wizard and his kid, and Artemis is throwing in with you. Like a football trade, you know? We're on her side. Would we have preferred she stick to the home team? Sure. but where Arty goes, so do we."
"Icicle doesn't have loyalty," Paula said, firmly. "And we're not going to wait around for him to think that we'll follow him when he goes after our daughter. Look after her? We'll be back soon."
"If we aren't," Crusher said, suddenly grave. " Trust me, you get Arty and your people out of Blue Valley. Maybe try Australia. killer beaches."
"Right," Pat echoed, stunned. "I'll... what?"
Crusher and Paula left. Pat wondered if this was how Courtney had felt, when he'd gone off to face Brainwave.
~~
"It took you long enough," Jordan said. "Steven isn't answering my calls. What happened? Did you get the satellite codes?"
"Slight snag," Crusher said. "Nothing to worry about."
"The JSA, wasn't it?" Jordan said, coolly. "That sounds like something to worry about. Stargirl and her...Stripesy-bot. They need to be killed. All of them."
"Dibs," Crusher said.
Jordan rolled his eyes, turning back to his desk. "Must you be so childish about this? Fine. You can kill them."
"Wasn't talking to you," Crusher said, and tossed the azidoazide azide laced hockey puck at Jordan's head.
