the clip from nsbu where izzy quickly mumbles to brennan that she doesn’t want her son npc to die is my all time favorite scene in d20 history. I think it showcases the perfect dm-player dynamic. Having a player who knows themselves well enough to see that having a certain NPC die would make the game upsetting/less fun for them AND communicates their needs is incredible. Having a dm who can meet those needs in a way that keeps the spirit of the world and still feels like a well-fought win absolutely rules. They totally captured the nature of the game in like 30 seconds. i firmly invite anyone who saw that scene and criticized brennan for “being too lax with his players” to get fucked.

pls explain the Gravity Falls+PnF au to me. I'm guessing PnF are heading to Gravity Falls, but from there I'm not really sure what'd happen. you're au's usually have a plot and I genuinely have no idea how'd you plot this

Yay! I can talk about the AU!

This is only the bare-bones of it, because I'm still working out technical bumps, but it's basically a substitution AU, where the PnF characters would be taking on the roles and plots from Gravity Falls. I can give a run down on who'll be doing what:

Phineas, Ferb and Candace will share the Dipper and Mabel roles between them, with traits, events and roles split between the three. Their premise is also the same--siblings, sent to stay with a great-uncle in Gravity Falls.

Buford and Baljeet will gain 40+ years of age and take on the Stan and Ford roles respectively, although they would only be best friends, rather than twins--although I am seriously considering making them stepbrothers, for the sake of narrative parallels--Gravity Falls IS big on narrative parallels. (I haven't yet ironed all the bumps out, but I will. Oh yes, I will

Isabella won't take the place of any specific character, but rather, she'd play a similar role that Fiddleford plays in Relativity AU's--i.e. she'd be an extra friend/love interest kid character who hangs out nigh-constantly with the core siblings

Soos and Wendy will be consolidated into one character--the very chill, very helpful, very nice, and very Cool Teenager(TM) shack handyman, who is none other than Jeremy Johnson

Bill Cipher will still be Bill Cipher. This might surprise you.

Dr. Doofenshmirtz will be, surprisingly, in the Old Man McGucket role.

The Gideon role will naturally be taken by Little Suzy Johnson

Vanessa is the trickiest to explain in this AU. So she is Doof's daughter, but considering that he's gone Off His Rocker a little bit she's been taken in by her Uncle Roger (who is filling the Preston Northwest role), and spends a good portion of her story trying to avoid association with her father. She'll fill the Pacifica niche, although she won't be as mean, more just dismissive.

Stacy will be the Candy/Grenda figure.

Carl is Thompson. No notes.

Bella was really tired and ready to call it a day by the time she made it home. She desperately needed to shower after nearly getting puked on twice by Vince, but all she had the energy for was to collapse on the couch and close her eyes.

Vaguely she registered the noise of the TV in her and Luke's bedroom... Then soft footsteps... "Hey," Lucas shaking her awake, gently. Light green eyes right in front of her.

"Uhmmm..." Bella groaned, closing her eyes again, "let me sleep."

"Yeah, but in bed, how about?" Luke whispered, grabbing her arms, "c'mon, baby..."

He wrapped her arms around his neck and Bella's head floated as she felt him lift her up. She let out a little groan at the movement, curling up further around him.

A couple more steps and then they were in bed, "help me here, Bell, you need to change out of these clothes."

Bella let out a whine, but forced her eyes to open. Lucas looked wide awake, which was surprising given it was nearly 10 PM and he now fell asleep at 8 most days.

He opened a smile, "back to the land of the living?"

"Just barely," Bell groaned, rubbing her eyes and letting Lucas help her strip down her clothes.

"Where were you? I thought you were only gonna have lunch with Wendy..."

"Still at Wendy's," Bella yawned, curling up under the blankets as soon as Luke helped her inside one of his old t-shirts, that she always used as pjs, "Vince was there."

Luke's soft smile all but fell as he cringed, "Bell you didn't do anything stupid, did you?"

She glared at him, yanking at the front of her husband's shirt for him to join her in bed, "it's not stupid, he hurt you. He hurt Wendy-"

"Wendy literally took him back," Lucas said, turning off the lights and rolling on his side, illuminated just by the television, "and he didn't do anything, baby, I'm just... I'm just sad, it's not Vin's fault."

"Part of it is," Bella scoffed, moving so much closer their noses were almost brushing, "whatever, I didn't do anything."

"Not sure I believe you," Lucas chuckled, wrapping his arms around her, "so you were there until now doing what exactly? Having tea?"

"Uhm... Vinsssick..." Bella slurred, sleep pulling her under as Luke held her to his chest, her favorite spot in the world. She heard him say something else, but whatever it was, her brain completely tuned it off as she fell asleep.

She woke up around 6 AM, still in Luke's arms, but now shivering violently. Bella groaned, blindly reaching for the blankets, only to find that she was already wrapped up in them.

She let out a whine, pressing against Lucas even more and causing him to groan, "Bell, you're suffocating me-"

"I'm freezing," she answered, pressing her nose to his neck. He was so warm.

"Uhm-" Luke mumbled, sleepily planting a hand on her back, but not doing anything besides that. She could feel his deep breaths...

Suddenly she was burning up, like all the cold was out of the window. Sweat made her hair glue to her nape and Luke's hold was suffocating. She pushed back, kicking the blankets, causing her husband to let out a groan.

"Isabella, really?" he whined, turning his back to her, and Bella sat up on the bed. The room seemed to tilt as she did that, her head suddenly really heavy as it hit the headboard.

Bella gulped down the sudden queasiness, rubbing at her face and slowly pushing out of the bed and making her way to the bathroom, slumbering like a drunk.

Her face was a weird shade of olive-white. Bella wasn't snow white like Luke or Leo. Her tone was naturally darker, a light brown shade with golden undertones, that got even tanner during the summer. The gold in her skin tone had turned to green now.

She washed her face, brushing her teeth and slumping over the sink when the toothbrush caused her to gag fruitlessly. Her stomach squeezed, but nothing came up aside from the foam of the toothpaste and some tears stinging her eyes.

"Morning," Luke said gruffly, a minute later as he slipped into the bathroom still half asleep and patted her ass on his way in, not paying any attention.

Bella dried her face, clutching the hand towel, "morning..."

He lifted up his head from the sink bowl, the cold water running down his neck and soaking his shirt, a lot more alert, "everything okay?"

"Yeah," Bella nodded, which was a bad idea because her head swam at the movement. Lucas straightened up, much more awake now.

"You're a little pale, babe," he noted, reaching for his toothbrush but still watching her intently.

"I know, I'm not feeling too hot... I think I caught Vince's bug."

"Oh yeah, you mentioned that last night," Luke made his best to sound nonchalant, but failed miserably. Bella smiled at that, he was so transparent in his concern, "is Vince okay?"

"Well, he's sick as a dog," Bell pointed out, "but Wendy's with him, so he'll be fine."

She really wanted to sit down. Her legs were starting to feel like jelly.

"What sort of bug?" Luke sounded suddenly much louder and Bella startled as she realized she had let her eyes drift off and that he had stepped closer. He wasn't holding his toothbrush anymore, it was nowhere in sight, "Bell?"

"Stomach flu," Bella mumbled, her face feeling all tingly, body suddenly cold again, "Luke..."

"You definitely caught it," he sighed, a big hand coming to feel her forehead and stayed there once Bella leaned against the comforting touch, "you've got a fever there, Bells."

"Vince is such an asshole," Bella grumbled and he chuckled, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and guiding her back to bed.

"How's your stomach?" Lucas raised the blankets so she could slip under them once more and Bella gladly fell against the pillows, sighing in relief.

"It's okay..." Bella forced her eyes to stay open, "how are you...?"

Luke frowned at the question, flicking a curl away from her eyes, "I'm fine, baby..." he tucked in the blankets around her, "if you're feeling alright, I'm gonna get you some meds for this fever, ok?"

She nodded, not bothering to answer and closing her eyes again.

Not even a second later Lucas was shaking her awake. Bella groaned, curling up. She was freezing and she only wanted to sleep, "leave me alone."

"Sorry, baby, but I can't," Luke, cupping her nape and holding her slightly up, almost sitting, "big swallow."

"Uhm-" she scrunched up her nose as a sweet liquid met her lips, trying to turn her face as the smell made her stomach churn and Lucas let out a huff.

"C'mon, one gulp-"

Bella swallowed down the shot of medicine, before coughing and forcing her eyes open. Their room was much brighter, the sunlight slipping through the curtains. She was clammy with sweat and Luke was wearing a completely different outfit.

"Did you give me children's medicine?" Bella groaned, gagging at the overtly sweet taste and Luke blushed, shrugging.

"I was scared you'd choke on the pills," he said, his ears turning pink, "how are you feeling?"

"Like I was run over by a truck, twice," Bella curled up again, "sleepy. My head hurts. I'm freezing."

"It's a low fever, baby," Luke said, brushing her hair and Bella let out a scoff.

"I'm dying of plague," she grumbled, hiding a smile against his wrist as he petted her hair, "be sympathetic with my plight and come cuddle me."

He let out a surprised chuckle, "you? Dying of plague? Bella, please," Luke rolled his eyes, leaning in and pressing a kiss to her brow, "you severely downplayed Vince's illness, by the way."

"Did I?" Bella scoffed, scooting on the bed so she could press her cheek to Luke's thigh, "he's a big guy, he'll live."

"I called Wendy and she said it hit him pretty hard, he's been pretty unresponsive..." Bella could hear the crystalline concern in Lucas' voice, "Jonah's over there to help though..."

"So you were ready to leave your sick, dying wife, to go coddle Vince?" Bella dug a finger on Luke's ribs, causing him to squirm and try and bat her hand away, "you're terrible. I want a divorce."

"I wasn't gonna leave you," Luke chuckled, stroking her cheek, "I was just worried, I would swing by if they needed meds and-"

"Oh shut up," Bella groaned, turning her face away, "go away," she rolled on the bed, kicking Luke weakly, "I don't wanna talk with you anymore."

The bed shook as Lucas jumped on it, grabbing her wrists and forcefully rolling Bella back to him, grinning the whole way, "green isn't your color, Bell."

"I'm a ginger, of course it is," she glared at him, but then grimaced, as the room continued to spin since Luke had pulled her so suddenly. She pressed her eyes closed, breathing through the nausea that churned in her stomach.

"Bella?"

"Give me a minute," Bella moaned, grabbing on his shoulder to push herself up on the bed, in a sitting position. Luke's playful smile had all but vanished, worry coloring his face.

"Are you gonna throw up?"

Bella shook her head no, but she didn't dare open her mouth. It was as if she was in a funhouse, everything distorted and weird. She gulped down nervously, "Luke-"

"Okay, okay, I got you," he cupped her face, pushing her curls back and forcing Bella to look up at the ceiling, "deep breaths, babe. You just moved too fast."

Her stomach rolled and Bella pressed her lips tightly together, before a gag shook her frame and she darted a hand up, shielding her mouth- "Bucket-"

Luke let go of her in a second, skipping away. Bella gulped down as another gag sent the super sweet medicine up and she was forced to swallow it back down. She whimpered, curling up-

"Here, I-"

Bella lurched for it, all but burying her head in the plastic bowl and easily coughing up the medicine, with a horrible gurgling noise.

"Shhh, I got you-" Luke whispered, pulling the hair away from her mouth and bunching it up in one hand, the other one steadying the bowl, "calm down-"

Bella panted over the bowl, groaning loudly as her stomach continued to churn, "now I'm dying."

"Nah, nowhere close," he answered her playfully, "done? Do you think you can handle some water?"

"Do- done," Bell punctuated the word with another empty heave, but all that came up was some purple colored saliva, "water sounds great."

"I'll be right back, lie down," Lucas instructed, helping her against the pillows and Bella groaned as a fierce cramp hit her. She pulled her knees to her chest, squeezing her eyes shut and shivering in disgust as she could still taste the sweet liquid in the back of her throat.

She felt utterly miserable and, sadly, completely awake. Despite feeling drained and woozy, she couldn't fall back asleep. Bella was still curled up, trembling, when Luke came back into the room, holding now the packet of pills and a bottle of water.

"Bottoms up and if it stays down we can try the pills in an hour," he said, sitting on the edge of the bed and handling her the plastic bottle, "small sips."

"I'm not a child," Bella grumbled, taking one tentative sip and making sure it settled, before taking a bigger one, "did you take your meds?"

"Quit worrying about me, you've literally just thrown up," Luke rolled his eyes, "that's probably how you got sick in the first place."

"How are you making this your fault, Atwood? You cannot have given me the flu," Bella raised a skeptical eyebrow.

"No," he pushed her back against the pillows, "but you've been worrying about me since November, it's no wonder you'd crash. That's one hell of a honeymoon."

Bella let out a frustrated huff, rolling on her side, "nu-uh, as soon as you're better we're going to the beach. I want to get so fucked up on mojitos I'll forget my own name."

He let out an amused scoff, "you already don't remember your name most days, Isabella Martinez-Atwood."

Bell opened a pleased smile at that, "I love it when you say it..." her smile morphed into a grimace, "I'm gonna puke again."

"You're so romantic," Luke teased her, reaching for the now clean bucket.

"....She Cares?" A small Gunntech au oc scene

First off, I'm writing this as celebration as one of my idols not only likeing my art style, BUT ALSO THAT SHE ADORES KAILANI, WOOOOOOO

Context: if Kailani is in this show, I imagine there's a long side arc about Isabella finding about Kailani and hunting her down. So when Isabella finally catches Kailani and rants about how evergone abandoned her, she didn't expect Kailani to cry in reply.

SCENE

SEASON THREE, EPISODE ??? "Beneath the spikey corals"

"....Why are you crying?" Isabella asked, being a little put off by Kailani's tears.

"...they threw you aside, like you where nothing!" Kailani Exclaimed, her voice being shakey due to the tears flowing down her face. "That...you didn't deserve that! No one should have to go what you have been through!"

Isabella's expression turned into one of suprsie. She never met a girl so emotional or actually caring about her before. How did Gunntech allow such an emotional girl to be a worker? Isabella pushed the thought away, focusing on Kailani.

"Yeah, I'll agree with you on that. But that dosent explain why you're so emotional about this" Isabella commented, with Kailani becoming visibly more upset.

"OF COURSE IM EMOTIONAL!" Kailani shouted with a tone of sadness and anger, her hair visibly starting to look like tentacles the more she got upset.

"If you got turned into the way you are now, and just tossed to the side, who knows how many people have been through that pain? How many people had to suffer disappointment, how many people being shunned from society, all because Gunntech wanted someone perfect?" Kailani rambled, pacing across the underwater cove as Isabella watched her, feeling uncomfortable

"Well, that's just Gunntech. If you're not good, they throw you to the pits." Isabella replied, looking down at Kailani. Isabella wouldn't be lying if she felt the tiniest bit of pity for the girl. Kailani never even knew of Isabella's existence.

Kailani was quiet, so many things zooming through her mind. The place she dedicated almost her entire life too, was destroying innocent people's lives, and she was helping with that. Kailani didn't want to believe it, but the evidence was right in front of her. There was nothing Kailani could do with this new information. If anyone found out Kailani knows about Isabella, most likely she'd suffer a worst fate than death.

Kailani took off her uniform shades as she wiped her tears before looking up at Isabella, showing a kind smile. "....You won't mind if I hang out with you tomorrow?"

What if she can see Isabella and the ring just floating around the suitcase or even just vertin herself trying to make sure that their classmate is doing okay

Would they be angry? At vertin or the foundation since they didn't know it was constantine who hijacked the whole thing

What would they feel about the other arcanist? And who else can see them?

I've thought about this too, but so far they can see the dead which seems to be different from the "Reversed". There seems to be some type of afterlife present since Spirits and such are confirmed entities. However, the Reversed don't seem to enter that afterlife. They're just...gone.

The real question is "where" do they go if not the after life? Back in time? Which time? What is time anyway??? We may have this debunked later but so far the Reversed have made no comebacks or appearances unlike those who have died.

As for Isabella and Ring, I'm sure they're hearts would break for Vertin if they saw her fate as TK. Smoltin dropping to her knees in the rain while everyone vanished. It's devestating. They were all part of a sick plan and now Vertin is forced to watch people disappear over and over again. The Ring and Isabella were both brave but kind kids. They held Vertin's hand when they opened the door together. They fought with her until the end. I don't think they'd blame her for what happened.

Not even Mesmer does. She was also deceived and lied to by Constantine. However, she doesn't have hostility toward Vertin. It reads more like "why do you keep doing this" because it ends up with Vertin getting hurt.

She didn't have to tell the truth to Sonetto about the Foundation actually holding Vertin hostage in AS, but she chose to. The SPDM kids have a bond despite the different paths they chose (or were forced into).

It makes me wonder if we'll ever see Sonetto, Mesmer, and Matilda's reaction to Vertin's official promotion to Timekeeper.

What happened when Vertin, the leader of the rebellion, returns without her people?

sorry but wouldn't it be kinda stupid of jorge to use that flag? i mean if the majority of spain recognizes that flag as far right symbol it feels really weird that nobody on his team told him to change flag and use a regular spain one considering that motogp respects the different regions and uses the rights flags for their gps and also considering how the riders try to/have to appear apolitical

like it doesn't make sense for him to choose such a divisive and controversial symbol on tv, especially when he's trying to get picked by ducati, he doesn't need a scandal. could it be that he just doesn't know the meaning or is that impossible?

The flag and the bull is a bit more complicated than see it and automatically far/extreme right. That bull as @babynflames ( https://www.tumblr.com/babynflames/750298627086417920/the-osborne-bull-first-appeared-next-to-spanish ) pointed out was used to represent Spain as a whole during the dictatorship. Some people, specially in the centre of Spain (mostly both Castilles and Madrid) see it just a Spanish symbol, where as I from the periphery and a region with strong nationalism feelings see it as another imposition.

That flag will mostly be displayed by the right and extreme right, but not all the people with it will be from that party. As I said to the anon before symbols that are so wide associated with Spain are not always seen okay in Catalonia, and therefore, Jorge who is from Madrid can see them a bit differently. Also Madrid has marketed themselves as the perfect spot for holidays for people from outside Spain, but in reality the right is winning.

That flag is the same one his parents have had since before Jorge was born and given to him as a present, a memento, for his first win so no one from his family will say anything. And anon pointed that his new friends and group is from that ideology, hence why they aren't going to discourage it. About the team? How can people from outside of Spain say anything when they don't know the meaning of it? True that he has Fonsi Nieto, but he's a white privilege man from Madrid living from his uncle's (not even his dad! He's actually the son of Ángel's sister) fame.

There also the fact that due to the political differences between the centre of Spain and the periphery of it, some people will actually be happy that they have someone carrying their same values as oposite as Aleix who is vocal about having his own Catalan identity. Jorge doesn't need to make himself marketable for the Catalan public, we already have Rins, The Márquez, the Espargarós, and Maverick. Jorge is catering himself for the Madrid (and centre of Spain) public, so yeah so will be extremely happy to see that flag.

Riders being apoliticals is actually a joke. I remember that a few years back the backlash Aleix and Pol got due to Aleix words (as always) because media interpreted Aleix was pro Catalan independence, when in reality he only said he was pro-choice. Rider are afraid to open their mouth some times, but they are actually allowed to say and do whatever they want. I don't know why DORNA and Carmelo allows that flag, unless they are actually okay with it.

Ducati already chose him using that flag. I started to watch MotoGP in 2020 and I remember him in parc Fermé in Moto2 with the flag and later that same year he was announce. Ducati can't care less. It's true that is stupid of his part and he might not really know the meaning, but given that he has been liking VOX post and how how many of this flags are popping in their events is easy to put 2 and 2 together. At this point he is just refusing to learn the meaning of the flag or chooses to ignore it.

I hated FHJY, but I loved NSBU.

I like that NSBU was a bullshit season where anything was possible and the only rule was to commit to the bit. That's the premise of the season and that was fun. The ending was a mess, but we're not here for thematic engagement or growth, we're here to see them drive sports cars 5000 miles an hour and do goofy action stuff. That's the primary appeal, a table and world so chaotic that Beardsley is the straight man of the group.

Fantasy High didn't have that appeal, though. Actions had consequences, and they meant something in the end. Characters grew and changed. It was goofy, sure, but it wasn't "faxing dynamite into space to blow up the vampire president" goofy. JY felt like everybody stopped giving a fuck about the world and the characters and their histories.

Shirai has never officially, explicitly stated in an interview what's in the letter Ray writes in chapter 22/S1 episode 7, but I've talked about this before and personally find it funny how he made a big deal out of the mystery surrounding it back in a 2019 Jump interview (translated here):

When I feel most people’s first guess as to what was in it after the escape arc concluded was eventually confirmed in December 2020 with the release of chapter 181.3:

A farewell letter from a son to his mother that reveals their biological connection when headquarters purposely kept it a secret.

It's meant to be such a huge revelation it stops Krone in her tracks and deters her from digging around in Ray's room further to discover the rewards he's been receiving for six years and the lighter fluid he's been stockpiling for five.

I've also talked before about how Ray's retaliation was threefold in its pettiness, and this letter falls into points 2 & 3. After years of bottling up his anger and resentment toward her, he wanted to incriminate her by implicating she at very least knew about the escape, potentially that she even helped with it, all because she knew of their biological connection and wanted him to survive (the same thing he wished she would have said to him back on his sixth birthday at the gate):

He found it sickening how she could choose to prolong her own life by sacrificing all his siblings over the course of her tenure at Grace Field. With this, he thought he would seal her death at the hands of the demons she groveled before like a dog, while he would die on his own terms as a human.

What he didn't count on was Isabella's prioritizing results over rules was something that was enabled by her mother, to the point they were willing to remove Krone from plant no.3 altogether.

Ray assumed Krone did not have the means to contact headquarters like Isabella did, so she would keep the bait and bide her time until presented with the opportunity to reveal it to someone higher in the chain of command. Ray assumed Krone would still be at Grace Field at the time of the escape, and that after he was dead and the four other oldest kids were gone and headquarters was looking for an explanation for how a blunder of this magnitude could have possibly happened, Krone would show her hand to usurp Isabella's position.

It's why he's so caught off-guard when Isabella reveals she made a move first.

As for why Shirai gave conflicting information about this, I'm assuming he wanted to leave the door open for multiple possibilities before his health tanked and he began aggressively cutting off story branches so he could still complete the series under his own power and maintain his sense of artistic integrity.
