I often think about the people who came before me.

Someone made books so I could read them and eventually someone created technology to read books on and now I use that technology to write things on a website. What is a website. Why did humans create all of this. To be seen? To be heard? Some sort of desperate bid to not be alone?

We’ve always desired not to be alone. We scream into space hoping something will see it and be able to interpret it. We created so many languages to speak to each other. There are so many people and I’ll never meet all of them. That’s frustrating to me sometimes. I’ll never meet everyone.

It’s odd to think about our immense history. Every time I hold a phone I can’t stop thinking about the history in it. How did we get from stone tablets to this?

Tomorrow I move into college dorms. Not too long ago I wouldn’t have been able to attend college. But people fought for me. Many groups of people in the past said I should be able to go to college.

And I know they weren’t thinking about me in specific. None of this advancement was for me in specific. But sometimes when I feel like a disappointment I like to imagine someone back in those days imagining me.

It’s 1920 and a suffragette imagines a future in which it isn’t unusual for a girl to go to college. It’s 1975 and an activist fighting for disabled rights imagines a disabled kid going to art school and living their dreams in 2022. It’s 1980 and an LGBTQ person is attending a protest, imagining a future lesbian being openly in a sapphic relationship.

I hope I make them proud, even if they’ll never know me.

When I was a kid my family pretended to get raptured so I would think I was left behind on earth while they all went to heaven.

I was like 8 years old and my sister and mom had gotten really into the Left Behind novels (bible fan fic about the rapture). In the books when the rapture happened the clothes that people were wearing when they got raptured were left behind in neatly folded piles.

One day when I was getting home from school my family decided that they would leave piles of neatly folded clothes around the house, and then hide in the basement.

The intended effect was that I would get home and see the clothes then, think that my family had been raptured and that I wasn’t good enough to get into heaven… or something?

The problem was that I had never read these books, and didn’t really think about the rapture very often. There was no reason that I would see some laundry on the floor and think “The rapture happened and I’ve been abandoned by God! I’ll never see my family again!! Oh nooo!!!!”

I just sat down and watched cartoons and eventually my family got bored and revealed that they were all hiding in the basement.

It’s a good thing I didn’t understand the joke, otherwise that shit would have been traumatic.

academic bias is so funny because you’ll be reading about the same historical event and one person is like “Despite the troubles that befell his homeland and near constant criticism of the court King Blorbo remained strong in the face of adversity” and the other one is like “after letting his people carry the brunt of his cringefail decisions Blorbo the Shitface refused to listen to any reason and continued to be a warmongering piece of shit. Also he was ugly.”

actually this comes out of the tags: I know some people hate it, but I honestly love how the hermits will keep design traits from many seasons ago in their fanart. it’s like. the hermits may change over time, sometimes drastically. and their designs may change a lot over time with both canon skin changes and fanon trend changes. but so often some little solidified bit of fanon just… stays, season to season. just little pieces of bits that haven’t been relevant for four seasons, kept alive in some way through how we perceive the people who did them.

kacchan telling izuku that his body moved on his own is fucking crazy. like not only did kacchan remember izuku saying that all the way back from the sludge-villain incident but he’s also confirming that izuku’s crazy, boarder-line suicidal intensity is a two way street. it’s not just izuku who is insane about kacchan it’s mutual insanity. kacchan’s body moved on its own. he was helpless but to throw himself into the line of fire when he saw izuku was in danger. he didn’t think about it. he didn’t choose to do it. he didn’t have a choice. it was as if izuku was a piece of his own soul. katsuki instinctually needed to protect him above all else, even at the cost of his own life

Last year I got ahold of the arcade PCB for a game called Biohazard: Gun survivor 2 Code Veronica. I’ve always wanted to play this game, so I decided to build the rest of the arcade cabinet.

It’s been a while, but I have an update!

The game runs!!! I still have to build out all the controls for the game, and a physical cabinet to house the game, but it runs!!!!!
