you guys have no idea how much it tickles me to see ds9 trending on the top 20 of shows of Tumblr this week when ds9 literally aired from 1993 to 1999.

this show is 31 years old. it was the black sheep of the franchise for years, was hated by Rick Berman to the point where its canon was disrespected and ignored for every subsequent star trek, including modern trek.

and yet.

still top 20 on trending shows of 2024.

and i'm so glad the youngins are still watching it, and star trek in general.

it just proves my theory that if you make a show that feels like home, people will not only return to it, but bring their children with them too.

also that if you make a really gay and trans half alien half human crew, your show will be timeless.

I am completely aware that my love for Toriguel lies completely in the fact that Xolo and Peyton had the absolute best chemistry in the show.

Their three kissing scenes reign supreme (something about the skating rink kiss just does something to me). Their flirting scenes involved the best banter. Their emotional scenes had so much passion. (The look on Miguel's face when Tory kicked him and the look on Tory's face when she saw him for the first time since he cheated, ahhhh,*chef's kiss!* 💋)

I'm very happy with Keenry being canon because it's honestly the healthiest relationship for Tory, but man, Toriguel just has this chokehold on me, and it's all Xolo's and Peyton's fault 😭

Shipping Toriguel really feels like eating junk food. A total guilty pleasure that does nothing but make my stomach twist with how angsty they are, but my heart flutter with the potential they had.

Man you (and others) have been getting so many weirdly passive aggressive Hailey/Jay/Upstead asks lately. To break the mood a bit have a happy one instead! When Hailey and Jay reunite how do you want it to go down? Would you want to see a pre-reunion like Jay home for a short break, Hailey catching a flight to Bolivia, FaceTime chats? Or just the grand reunion?

I get very odd asks. My favorites have been saying Hailey is going to be Vo*ght's love interest and I am just wondering are we TRULY watching the same show. Anyways....

I do want to see some FaceTime chats and phone calls. Purely because, no matter what's going on with them, I think the whole idea of them not talking for the entire 8 months he is gone is just OOC.

I'd love to just see some big reunion scene - him getting to come home a few days early and surprising her a little. (A la @fromiftowhen's YHBOTHL when Hailey surprises Jay a day early from NYC) and he's just home or sitting at her desk at the district.

I also wouldn't mind an airport reunion because we were severely robbed of that back in season 7 and I still haven't gotten over it.

I have a lot of "wishes" when it comes to how I want this to go down when he comes home from Bolivia. Although, at the end of the day, I just want the reunion and homecoming to feel like them and coming home. Those two deserve it.

I feel like there had to be some major mental and emotional recalibration in Shen Wei's universe after he met Zhao Yunlan.

After all, the one he's been waiting ten thousand years to meet is Kunlun -- the great hero who saved Shen Wei's life and brokered peace between warring civilizations, the kind stranger who reached out to the frightened youth hiding behind the mask of cold warrior, the philosopher who gave Shen Wei his name and taught him to live up to it, and very likely the first person since the loss of Shen Wei's own family to show him any sincere affection. The real Kunlun was already on something of a pedestal before Zhao Yunlan assumed his identity, and Shen Wei has elevated him so much higher and obsessed over what Kunlun meant to him personally for ten millennia since. The only worthy reappearance of a man he (and others) venerated so highly would have to be accompanied by blinding sunbeams and golden trumpets to live up to their expectations.

And then Shen Wei stumbles into professional irritant Zhao Yunlan, a man who wears Kunlun's face but specializes in being as obnoxious as possible, who can't be bothered to remove expired food from his refrigerator and leaves his dirty laundry all over the floor, who insinuates himself into situations where he doesn't belong and pries at the edges of Shen Wei's secrets without mercy -- in short, the opposite of everything Shen Wei has built Kunlun up to be in his idealized memories and hopes of reunion.

There had to be a moment where Shen Wei faced this disparity head-on in an attempt to reconcile his long-awaited hero with this persistent, self-destructive SID investigator who keeps showing up everywhere to annoy him... and it might have ended in a minor meltdown.

I'm sure there's a plot bunny here somewhere, if only I can capture it...

It feels great to see someone else watch Fernando's show. Especially someone who also questions the cinematography on some parts.

I'm still just ??? at how unknown it is? Like anyone I've told about it had no idea it even existed. So it's fun to post it on here, to spread it and see people's reactions hahaha. But seriously the cinematography choices are uh....interesting to say the least! I just have so many questions for the director.....

Because there's a lot of cool cinematography, for example any of him in the Dakar had such beautiful shots, but then in the same episode there's just the most horny scenes I've ever seen??? If you remember, there's that spa scene in e4, I wanna gif it but like even after seeing it several times, I still can't watch it without my head in my hands, bcs it just feels so dirty to me 🫠
