I've been doing this for a few months but idr if I've made a post explaining it. Starting around last December I started to do this thing every Sunday where I reblog art and leave comments in the tags, the main goal is that I hope to encourage more ppl to reblog art on this site more often considering that for a long while ppl have stopped reblogging that often. For artists this is a problem. Likes are okay but it usually gets put into our "Likes" tab and stays there. Reblogs help to spread an artist's work a lot more than Likes do, as such reblogs are more helpful (especially for smaller artists).

So I would like to encourage ppl to find 1-3 pieces of art, be it original or fanart or music or comics or whatever art and queue it up for Sunday with the tag #Reblog Sunday . Go through your likes or when you see something in whatever tags ur in, just queue it. I also wanna recommend leaving comments in the tags and it doesn't have to be long, it could be like "cute" or "nice" or "awesome" but longer ones are nice too but don't feel pressured afterall the reblog is the main point.

Let's support artists on here and spread their work!

Em hotep. What's wrong with Sharon LaBorde? I've been researching and interacting with Kemetic communities lately, and even the most hardcore followers will recommend her channel and books. Your FAQ was the first time I ever saw someone disagree so I wanted to hear why. Thank you for your time.

the main reasons i don't tend to recommend sharon :

she spreads misinformation about KO. if you're going to criticize the organization, you should be doing it with actual factual data, not falsified drama that has been stirring around the internet since 2006. when i created a KO q&a post on her forum, she tried to shut it down because it made her uncomfortable lol. it was left up only because people pushed back against it. that's how deep her need to have KO always be in the wrong runs, imo. and so much of her content (at least back then) was rife with these subtle jabs at KO and its fkn tiresome esp when its not based on actual facts.

she's okay with racism. when i modded for her back in the 2013 era, there was suddenly a spike of discussion regarding police brutality and racism (due to mike brown being murdered), and she was so fast to back up the racists and play down some of her own lowkey racism. this is ultimately what got me removed from being a mod. she didn't even have the nerve to tell me, i just signed in and saw i no longer had mod privileges. a little cherry on top.

i don't find her first book (never bothered to read the second book) to be particularly impactful or useful. its filled with anti-KO sentiment just lurking under the surface. i didn't like that she labeled a consecration rite as "opening the mouth" (if you search her old forum, you might find us discussing that back in the day). i didn't like the lack of good citation in her book. in general, i was just not impressed. you can find all the relevant information on free from better (imo) writers, so. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

all of this combined doesn't make me want to recommend her to anyone. you can probably check the laborde tag to find older variations of me answering this question, which may have more details, but idr and i'm too lazy to check

i have to be dead honest and admit i'm really no an in9 person personally ㄒ∩ㄒ there are definitely some episode i've liked, but in general the horror homage stuff — like garth marenghi's darkplace — just isn't for me most of the time (this is iconic tho don't get me wrong), plus i have a serious beef with mark gatiss and want to crush his little head like a grape :)

saw the dnd movie with my game club and we hooted and hollered and i cried like a widdle baby, thoroughly recommendable experience

my fav things, overall - i really liked that each member of the party got a scene to show off their shit. holga got to fuck up the guards in the alley, simon did the magic at the theatre (?), doric did her wildshape shenanigans to save a member of the emerald enclave, and zenk (sp?) did all the sick shit in the underdark. edgin didnt get anything anywhere near as flashy, but id argue that his bits were the intro with the backstory (which, fun fact, i assumed he was completely lying about until they got home) and the time stop trick at the end. hes so good. i almost reckon this was something a rebuttable to the 2000 movie, because the BIGGEST complaint is that noone other than Ridley does anything. (okay, maybe not biggest, but the most glaringly obvious).

and arguably the film also addresses the thing where 'why are these people travelling together'. edgin and holga co-raise a whole child, simon's absolutely dirt fucking broke and is relying of edgin to pull through, doric's been convinced to join as a way to stick it to the man, zenk is convinced to help because at that point they know more about Sophina and there's now like, Big Plot at play, which he also opposes idealogically. MWAH. like its so simple but the 2000s movie really fucked it for that (mostly bc they cut the scene that was integral to Ridley+Marina's arcs and shit (the one in the map) and they just. never explain why the dwarf is there. whats his deal. the ranger has a deal idr why she tagged along tho)

i also loved the section with zenk. like its hilarious structurally that hes in so little of the movie, but bc i didnt watch the marketing idgas. i thought he was great. hes there to guide the party to an item, yes, but hes really there to guide *them*. and edgin thinks thats a load of shit, but he was right! without zenk as a moral influence on the party, to remind them of what actually matters? damn.

and how thats sort of what prompts them getting out of their darkest hour. like yeah that hours damn short, a single scene really, but i like it. everyone saying this is hopeless, whats the point, whats edgin even done, and edgin finally confessing that yes! he fucked up! he's the reason any of this happened! and for fucks sake, he'll find a way out, he has to. i love it. like that scene got my ass. it was so sweet.

amd the whoolle plot of him and holga and his daughter. i loved the simplicity of the "twist" with the tablet - he kept saying 'ill bring your mother back', finally admits that what he's doing isn't bringing kira's mother back, its bringing his wife back, and then ending up using the tablet to save Holga, who is really Kira's mother in the way that matters????? that shit got me. like as soon as i saw she'd been stabbed i was like oh ay i know the plot here and yet! i wept! that shit got me. it was just so sincere, i think. like yeah, its cheesy, but its taking itself sincerely. the feelings of the three characters involved is deeply sincere.

i saw ur tags about learning ASL and honestly i recommend starting with some basics on youtube!!! i know it’s not perfect, but also see if your local community centres have classes (my library has them sometimes). they may be on zoom too which is a plus if you can record. good luck on both ASL and Yiddish!!!!

THANK YOU for your claire thoughts!!! i tuned back into spn a month ago so i had a lot of fandom characterization to digest very quickly, but the "claire is cas's daughter!" thing confused me immensely. like... cas rolled into this 10yo girl's life and WRECKED it, possessed her, killed her dad, and drove her mom to abandon her at a too-young age in a fruitless quest to Fix It. he's basically her yellow-eyed demon? only YED never showed up to say he was very sorry while still wearing mary's face

which isn't to say that I don't love a forgiveness arc for her!!! it just would have been so much more interesting if the show had acknowledged ANY of that. the parallels we could have had.
