okay i saw this post about writers aren't inclusive in their works if they put a 'face claim', assign the reader to be a male/female, assign clothes to the reader, describe the reader's appearance and all of that stuff. and i just feel like that's stupid. because if a fic has the pairing as 'abc x fem reader' then it's been mentioned that the reader IS A FEMALE. if you don't want to read that then it's completely fine and just don't read it, but don't tell the author to be more 'inclusive' and what not. as for the descriptions of appearance i saw this writer get bashed for writing a work a particularly skinny or fit reader in mind even though in the final work the reader's body type wasn't even specified. if a writer writes something with a 'chubby' reader in mind, why doesn't anyone bash them then? i personally don't really read works where the reader has been specified with a specific race and it has been mentioned because i juat don't relate with them. but i don't tell the author to be more inclusive or bash them for being 'stereotypical'. and in fact i believe that describing the reader in a fic, like the basic stuff such as hair and like eyes, makes the quality of the fic better as it explores more depth rather than being simply two dimensional. there was also something mentioned about how writer's shouldn't describe the personality of the reader and whatnot because 'they wouldn't do anything like that in the first place' i mean WHAT. if you expect someone to not describe the personality, appearance and overall general things WHAT WILL THE PERSON BE. like do they expect the writer to not fill out the person's personality and not describe their general appearance? then with that logic they shouldn't even mention some things such as hands because what if the reader doesn't have them. they shouldn't mention the reader speaking because what if the reader can't speak. a writer describing the the type of reader they have in mind ISN'T NOT BEING INCLUSIVE. IT 'S CALLED GOOD WRITING AND DEPICTION OF CHARACTERs. oh and this isn't targeted towards you 😭😭😭 i absolutely adore your works and love your writing as much as i can

firstly, you actually hit the right inbox with this topic bc i PERSONALLY agree 100%. it's a very heavily discussed topic which i get bc its a READER insert after all but as you said, its basically still just a character snd thats how i'm gonna treat my y/ns!!!! i just personally prefer writing in second person than first or third so this is the only way for me to work with the writing style i prefer and i am not gonna let people take that away from me anymore.

Hey, I love your work, esp your Dramione stuff! I noticed the tags on some of your posts and I was wondering: are you planning on turning Sweet Sacrifice into original fiction? I would be interested in seeing more genre romance in the mainstream

Aw, thank you! I've had the intent of adapting Sweet Sacrifice away from Harry Potter lore and into its own original work for a while now. (I talk about it some on my writing blog here and here.)

I sort of started on this already by working on an AU comic loosely based on Sweet Sacrifice since last year. It covers some of the same ground but the plot has been reduced down to mainly just being about Caius and Isolde (formerly Draco and Hermione) because if I cover anything else from the actual fic plot this comic would be like a hundred pages long. I'm working on chapter 2 of the comic right now and it's at 13 pages currently and about to get very NSFW, but I don't know if I plan to make a chapter 3 to the comic because it's really intensive work, but we'll see. This is mostly for fun but it's also helped me consider how the story might go now that I've stripped the HP elements from it and am trying my hand at world building and developing these characters further into something of my own and not relying on someone else's lore.

(I'll post more of chapter 1 of the comic but I don't think I'll post it here. So far what I've shared of it has been mainly on WordPress and DeviantArt but the full pdf is up on my Patreon.)

As for writing, I would really love to give Sweet Sacrifice a do over and make it a proper horror novel starting at a point before D + H/Caius and Isolde meet. I really want to flesh out the doomed village better and really delve into life before/during the werewolf's haunting before we get into the whole mated life thing.

I like the idea of doing it on my own and just compiling it into an ebook and "publishing" it on my own site. If I did it any other way I'd probably have to change specific/significant aspects of it to keep it from getting flagged or rejected or something, considering the themes running throughout the fic. I don't want to buckle on it remaining horror/dark romance (and the romance is questionable, at that). I don't see my type of work ever hitting mainstream (and I don't think I'd want it to either, to be honest). I don't like the idea of having to really water down the things I write to appeal to a larger audience when I already have you and many others as an audience (who already know what you're in for)!

I'm sort of taking a break from writing it right now because I've been feeling burnt out at how long the chapters have gotten and I still need to figure out the rest of the plot but the intent is absolutely there so I'll get to it soon, I hope.

TLDR: Yes, absolutely this is something I want/plan to do! I've got this story shredded between my teeth and I'll rearrange these letters to tell it in as many ways as I can, and make it my own.

thinking about that bit in the s10 episode i just watched where dean (and sam but i think mostly dean) recounts john taking them to new york and how there was SO MUCH in it. everything made me feel so vindicated i love love looove when spn suddenly lines up with something ive been thinking about. so much there.

dean being 'really underage' so i was thinking like 15 (not that id even describe 15 as REALLY underage, but these are americans) and sneaking out to a sick rock venue... <33. coolest kid around i love him. i like the establishment that dean did do things like that - it both makes me feel happier for him and slightly vindicates me against the people who claim dean was more sam's parent than his brother. thats not true. sure, he raised him, but he also snuck out to go to bars and dumped sam at random places and acted like an idiot older brother. and im glad dean got to do that.

15 year old dean (or some other young dean) being intentionally gotten drunk and implied to be roofied or drugged or whatever by a bunch of girls who were immediately all over him... hello... thats AWFUL..... god he must've been such a looker and i like it when canon acknowledges that. i have this idea in my head of like. 'funny looking' kid dean who's about twelve when he suddenly graduates from funny-looking to like relentlessly beautiful by just growing perfectly into his features. dean is always so aware of the way hes percieved physically in any given situation and always uses it in this specific way, from flirting with every girl around to responding to male aggression by way of cops etc by also like fake flirting or pretending they're sexually interested in him..... i dont always know where i land on 'precanon dean did sex work' hcs but this is something that does intrigue me about it. plus the weird and very sweet protectiveness he always has about sex workers - also just watched that ep where hes like trying to talk the soul-wanting sex worker out of it. ANYWAY. and the extremely casual way dean recounts this like its just?? something that happens to him??? hello???

then dean telling john he'd embarrassed him and he hated him...... doesn't really stack with everything else we've ever heard of child/teenage dean, but it's kind of interesting to consider. i guess he was incredibly drunk/potentially drugged. also this is from dean's perspective, a dean who was intensely gone and probably barely remembers.

and then we get a classic early-seasons style moment where dean recounts something about john winchester and goes Ha! Classic dad! What a great guy! and sam's like Dude wtf?????? except sam isn't snarky anymore so he just does a Look. i mean come on dean. ten minutes ago you said 'john winchester isn't winning any parenting awards' and now you're saying 'he raised us right!'. Dude. You KNOW that is not true. sam also knows you know.

that being said. i like seeing a moment of john winchester just being... a human guy. taking his kids to new york bc they kept begging him to and seeing all the fun sights. scaring the hell out of a bunch of terrifying punk teenagers who got his teenage son drunk. its more interesting to me to think that john is, like, a decent guy, aside from the child abuse, and probably would've been a much better dad if it wasn't for the trauma and the hunting and mary's death (though. i have to say. The way he deals with it is still his character!!! Putting it all on your very young son and venting to him is still like. Not something that a hell of a lot of people would do, even if they got just as revenge-driven. i reckon that specific type of parentification/spousification would've still have happened to dean. mary would've probably done it too.). the young john we see seems like a cool guy and he has strong as hell opinions about his future self's parenting (admittedly while not knowing it's his future self, lol). i reckon, on one level, john and dean did actually really get on. that makes the awfulness of it all so much more interesting to me <3

Which asoiaf characters would like chocolate?

WELL chocolate in Westeros wouldn't look like the chocolate you buy in stores. Chocolate - or cacao in its original form - was used as a drink for most of history because actually making chocolate sweets is kind of a laborious process even with a steam engine and cultivating cacao is much harder than most people realize (that's......um, probably why it's so infamously tied to slave labor eeven in the modern day. shout out tooney's chocolate tho). it was considered a delicacy but the spaniards hated the bitterness of it originally, so they added honey, and then understood why half the americas had lost their damn mind over cacao. so while it’s likely there’s some sort of chocolate in Terros, they probably drink it!

Arianne Martell/Dornish chocolate - there’s two types of “chilate” drinks (this one is central american the other is mexican), I think Arianne would like the spicier version, which involves adding chilies to spice it (and you use a masa drink base like atolli, mix that with the cacao, then add chilies), and I think she would make Myrcella drink it super spicy just to fuck with her and then pull out a sweeter version when Myrcella is like “oh you think you’re so slick making fun of me bc i’m white well you’re right give me the honey”

Myrcella - I think she’d love a good cinnamony drink ya kno. The other version of chilate is served cold, basically the same concept cinnamon and sugar. I think she’d find it very refreshing with the hot Dornish weather.

Tyrion/Westerlands/Crownlands - another way they drank cacao is using the bitter white part of the bean as a fermented sugar for alcoholic drinks and personally, not only do I think the tricksters of House Lannister would be allllll over that, I think Tyrion specifically got introduced by Genna and brought it back in style everywhere he could because he loved it.

Cersei Lannister - refuses to partake because Robert also thought the chocolate alcohol was tasty BUT she WILL drink the version of it that the Spaniards loved which was spicy but add vanilla AND honey AND sugar, and it gave all those spaniards a lil tummy ache, and it definitely makes Robert’s stomach hurt but Cersei will down a keg of it without blinking on spite alone.

Sansa Stark - the second chilate drink, the one Myrcella likes, I think Sansa would also love that. Rice milk + cinnamon + chocolate + sugar girlies, besties for life, plus it’s usually eaten with a fritter of some sort and we know Sansa loves her lil cakes.

Ned Stark/The North - one of the earliest ways of using cacao was to use the whites as part of a frothy, bitter drink and I think that screams Northerners to me and I think Ned would unironically love how bitter it is. He makes sure to invest in some bee agriculture when Cat moves north so she can have honey tho

The Reach/Alicent Hightower - the fact that one of the popes said that drinking a chocolate drink doesn’t count as breaking a fast is so funny so i FULLY believe that the Faith went WILD AF for chocolate, which means Alicent introduced it to KL and got half the population hooked bc it’s the only think she and Aemond can drink when they fast so they need a constant supply just in case they gotta be super catholic about something

Baelor the Blessed - real talk though, a drink made with masa & water or rice & milk, is probably more filling and a little better for your body, so Baelor drank chocolate drinks but ONLY the spicy kind because it was punishing to his white people sensibilities

Naerys - I can’t imagine she did much fasting considering how sick she was but we know she was religious AND close to Baelor, so she’d like drinking it to feel closer to her faith and Baelor. Plus, again, both Spain and Indigenous Americans thought chocolate was the shit they used it during religious ceremonies and considered it a delicacy, so I can see chocolate really catching on in court after having back to back Alicent/Baelor/Naerys chugging it all the time.

Ser Duncan the Tall - chocolate is very much a rich people (or religious) delicacy pre industrial revolution so Dunk likely hadn't had any until after he meets Egg. I like to think he had like the chocolate milk type drink and it rewrote his brain chemistry lmao. I actually think it's likely that Egg shies away from it and sees it as sort of an example of the social stratification between the nobility and smallfolk, but probably couldn't help but get Dunk some every time he could.

Daenerys - Dany definitely takes it spicy and cold, I really think she'd get a kick out of it, she seems very interested in trying different flavor profiles and I think the play of flavors in typical chocolate drinks would fascinate her.

Throughout your day to day basis I feel like she likes to keep tabs on you to make sure you're okay. Watching Jinhsi fight felt like nothing short of an ongoing art piece painted onto a canvas.

She was unfazed, unbothered and ever so graceful—her sword cuts through the Tacet Discords so cleanly as she executed each one without so much as breaking a sweat. Despite the chaotic conflict, however, it felt as if she were simply dancing through each Discord with their shrieks and screams as her very own orchestrated accompaniment.

The two of you had only wanted to venture beyond Jinzhou's city walls for a nice picnic, but of course the risk of encountering random dangers had caught up to you, hence the situation.

A blink, and the final Discord falls to her sword, the metal of her blade echoing out a metallic, reasonating sound that announces the battle's finality. And with it, the Echoes of the last Discord she had felled is stood there, sparkling a glittering gold.

She looks back at you with a concentrated glare, the horns on her head and the aura surrounding her signifying the final fragments of her silent aggression, before she blinks out of her state and reverts back to the seemingly docile woman that you spend your days with.

The white-haired woman licked her lips before speaking, her gaze darting from you to the still Echo, "A see-through visage of you would make for a nice anniversary gift, no?"

You snorted, walking over to her now that the field's been cleared, "Are you implying that you'll kill me so that I end up like the Echo there?"

"Goodness, no! The Echo's presence simply sparked an idea within me." She laughs despite the fight she had just gone through, and the sound couldn't be more musical to your ears, "I simply want to immortalise your memory, perhaps with my presence as a cameo?"

"Even though you're arguably the more important public figure out of the two of us? Why not just have us together, on equal standing?"

"..Why, that possibility had slipped my mind. Perhaps I'm not thinking straight."

"Really?"

"Mhm."

"You must be winded, then... How about we find a spot to sit for our picnic, and then you can rest all you like? I did promise Sanhua that I'll have you back relaxed, unhurt and in one piece."

She raised an eyebrow mirthfully, "I still think she should have been more worried about you. I can take care of myself, as you've seen."

"Yeah, well-- ..wait, do you think she'd chew me out for having you fight for me?"

Jinhsi simply gives you a cheeky grin as she walks off, the playful expression a rare view on the Magistrate.. but extremely beautiful nonetheless. And you are left to chase after her, the both of you giggling as you stride through the now-peaceful plains.

And the whole thing has you thinking, that perhaps there is a more.. convenient way of immortalising your bond together, without a need for artificial Echoes or transparent tributes.

All you'd need is a ring.

And maybe better accompaniment instead of the screams of her enemies.

YES I WOULD LOVE TO TELL YOU ABOUT MALAYSIAN FOOD!! I would show u pics but um 🧍->🏃‍♂️💨. Ur gonna have to google it king LOL. The first day back my dad and I went out to a mamak stall (basically just a restaurant for malay-chinese-indian food), and I had roti canai (a type of flatbread with curry) and teh tarik, which I have missed dearly. I dont typically like normal english breakfast tea so getting to have authentic teh tarik was SO GOOD. Teh tarik (translating to "pulled tea") is made with condensed milk and gets its name from how after the drink is mixed it gets continuously poured over and over from one container to another until it gets super frothy.

I've also been getting reacquainted with my favourite fruits 🥰 that you cant get in Australia like mangosteen and jambu air (ai-yer). Mangos and dragon fruit you can get in australia but. um. Theyre bad. They just taste like sweet water. Also unfortunately for me rambutan i havent been able to find rambutan 😔😔. Those look similar to lychee but they taste pretty different, less tangy and sweeter.

Ive gone out with a friend to have cendol (c promounced as a "ch") which is a cold desert with coconut milk and rice jelly, along with other toppings should you choose it. Im also in the process of convincing my bff to do a 3h road trip with me specifically for food in a city called Ipoh 😭 wish me luck.

AND, im getting one of my relatives to teach me how to make rendang and char kway teow. The rendang specifically because the one she makes i prefer over what's usually made in restuarants. I think it's a state difference in recipes or smtg? So the ones you'll find in restuarants are KL/Selangor rendang and she makes from Kedah. Thats just a theory tho im not actually sure.

Its so funny you say that about blackberries bc where i live we have them literally growing everywhere on the side of the road AKDNWKDNKWDN in the summer when they start putting out fruit one of my roommates will sometimes go out and just pick a bunch for the whole household, and they always taste SOOOOO much better than the store-bought ones. Im genuinely not sure how to describe the taste of blackberry other than like. Its very sweet but also very tart (i go for the slightly less ripe ones tbh bc i prefer tart things to super sweet) at the same time, and sorta pops in your mouth a little bit when you chew it. Honestly its one of my favorite fruits i would highly recommend them if you can find em anywhere!!!!

he mirrors video game dialogue a lot many of his go-to phrases are snatched from games he really likes and yvonne teases him for it a lot, sydney too when he catches them tho hes less of a gamer so its more rare

every time he plays a pokemon game or anything else with customizable characters he doesnt put in himself he formulates a whole oc with a general personality and feelings about things and then makes choices based on what he thinks the character he made would do

he really likes ferrets and weasels and stoats and other long creatures of that nature he researches them on occasion . he thinks theyre sweet and kinda wants a ferret as a pet but worries about how smelly they are

he collects both pokemon and magic the gathering cards . he likes collecting things if he can find something to collect and organize logically he WILL . but trading cards are a favorite because he likes putting them in binders with specific organizational styles

he listens to a lot of dnd podcasts (: hes often been too busy or shut off or nervous to join an actual dnd group but he ADORES dnd and has all the manuals and shit so its a nice way to deal w that interest . he gets very annoyed when the people on them dont follow the rules tho hes one of those types

hes tried to program a video game several times and every single time hes gotten stressed halfway through and given up on it . he randomly is like this would be suchh a cool idea but then he overwhelms himself . he does find it quite relaxing though so sometimes he works on random projects hes started so he can detense

he always wears clothes slightly too baggy for him . it started out intentional for comfort but now he just genuinely does not know what size clothes fit him so even if he wants to get something that fits him properly he wouldnt really know how

hes tried to write poetry before but hes failed every time due to being canonically too repressed for it . he just stares at the paper and then puts his pen down and stares at a clock for an hour

definitely playing guitar or just doing anything creative or artistic, probably going out in nature just like. taking a walk or something. even doing creative stuff outside but just Being outside (and vinny has definitely gotten him into gardening too at least a little). and then the last one. does gay activities count. cuddling and kissing. i feel like thatd be really high on his personal favorite activities list so im counting it

YES as previously mentioned he plays guitar. and hes had... hundreds of years to practice it so. hes definitely good at it though i dont think he honestly cares much for "mastering" the instrument or being able to do anything super complex i think he just enjoys the sounds and the process of playing the instrument and making the music happen

i dont think he really has a preference? generally stuff thats not too loud not too fast paced. i can see him really liking jazz though. or anything in the blues genre. he seems the type to like older stuff as well. again though i dont think he has too much of a preference as long as its kinda slow and not too loud

probably valentines day because 1. his husbands birthday and 2. he is very gay. i think the gusbands generally try and celebrate mortal holidays just for fun and to shake things up but he doesnt have like an attachment to any of them that mortals might have from growing up with them. but he likes valentines day.

hmmm. probablyyyy. hes a good listener. very thoughtful. and this is a weird one but just bear with me. hes like.. kind of slow moving? emotionally and physically he takes a while to process stuff or spends a while getting to places and like. that strikes me as a positive trait bc theres just a lot more thought going on there i feel? a lot more consideration of just everything. if that makes sense

hes VERY very caring and compassionate. cares about everyone and everything with his entire being. hes also an artist with a very high appreciation for art (because he. is kind of just art that came to life) and also a strong desire to make art and especially has an interest in art for children and he thinks art made for children to experience and learn from is very beautiful and essential and i just find that a really sweet trait of his. i dont wanna just describe the words kind or sweet or caring over and over again but i feel like. hes just full of kindness and love and its hard to not bring that up repeatedly. hes never judgemental and loves everyone and is kind to everyone and i just think hes so so sweet

he is. completely selfless. which CAN be good especially i think in the fact that hes a pacifist (specifically in the situation hes in.. i think this is beneficial to him. even if its not too beneficial to the overall group) but. he kind of views himself as lesser and like hes supposed to be protecting everyone else and never himself. which can be good but also does a lot of bad especially for his mental health. and then hes also very sensitive which like. not a bad thing. its not bad that he cries easily or is bothered by violence but it creates a problem because he is trapped on. the murder and gore and death forever repeating island. and finally hes very obsessive and attached to his boyfriend which. again. is a thing of his thats not really a problem? it wouldnt be a problem really if it werent for the fact that his boyfriend is just a plush toy of. his boyfriend he used to actually have that he can never talk to again and it causes kind of constant emotional turmoil. and also the murder island is not the safest place to bring the last remaining thing of your boyfriend you have left

💔 BROKEN HEART — what are three of your oc's negative traits?

he is a self sacrificing pushover and that is not really an exaggeration. i mentioned before hes very selfless and while that can have some upsides. his self sacrificial tendencies are just unhealthy and HAVE almost lead to him dying. and also if you told him to go stand in a bathtub full of acid hed be like :( okay and go do it? simply because you told him to. and then hes.. extremely self isolating and up until the island quite literally almost never left his apartment. a very very big shut in living in the quiet and the dark alone which is definitely doing some evil stuff to his psyche. finally the last thing. again its hard not to circle back to some of his big traits like being a bit of a pushover but prior to the island he kind of exclusively hung out with people who made fun of him because. he felt like that was all he had in the communities that he was interested in. all of these are very like focused on himself and not as outward and thats because he really really tries to be. as loving and compassionate as possible which is great but it does mean he is shooting himself in the foot 50 times a day. yknow?
