Random ask but ! Id like your thoughts on this hypothetical scenario that just popped into my brain
From Lysithea's endings we know removing crests from humans is possible.
Let's say in the midst of Ladles war the Flame Emperors is suddenly crestless (both crests are removed). What do you think would happen? How would she and others react ?
I'm still a bit annoyed at this plot point tbh, because even if it's less "weird" than when we're talking about nabateans,
Crests are part of someone's identity, it's in their blood so, like, unless you treat is as cholesterol, you're not supposed to be able to... uh, remove it?
Mole people can "add it" through their weird magitech, but I'd have found it less borderline if somehow, only the added crest disappears, and not the original crest some people were born with.
I don't think Supreme Leader would be very happy - despite her spiel about Crusts BaD, she heavily relies on the power of hers to wage her war, a Supreme Leader without her crests cannot wear her armor (she didn't train to, idk, swim with armor on unlike a certain someone) and I doubt she can swing Aymr as strongly as she can with her crests (or even high jump like she does in Tru Piss to bash Rhea's head in).
I think she'd be pissed, and would try to hide it (Hubert would do the heavy work, and insist she stays on the rear lines) because her entire spiel would fall apart, if the strong can only rely on themselves, if she has no strength anymore, what prevents, say, a barbarian or one of her missing cousins from killing her and becoming the Emperor?
Ionius showed what happened to a MAGA Emperor who isn't "strong", what would happen to her? I honestly think she'd panic, and maybe ask Uncle for new shiny toys to compensate for her sudden weakness -
But if we're on Tru Piss, even if tierlists are trash she shouldn't have been able to defeat the barbarian king or the evil lizard lady with her crests, so without them?
She dies in Tailtean, or even earlier.
#anon#replies#fodlan AU#it's the same hypocrisy ashnard has#a lot of uwus i'm the strongest only the strong can rule#but when a black dragon pops up#he uses Izuka and drugs and his son as legit 'ways to win'#where's all that strength you were proud of if you have to use those means?#it makes me think of Bleach and Nnoitra and Szayel#FE16#thanks for the ask!

Supreme Leader and her relationship to Billy and those icky and evil creatures with pointy ears, imo, can also be tied to Ashnard's so called glorious muhritocracy, on paper, the strong ones rule because they are strong enough not to rely on others?
But we're talking about the same guy who teamed up with Izuka and schemed to take down the Dragon Prince Rajaion, aka, who relied on some weak schmuck to take down a "strong one".
Just like Supreme Leader's Hero Nemesis, who "defeated" a sleeping Sothis - might makes right, even when your "might" is attested by killing a sleeping woman.
As you mentioned, Supreme Leader's entire "people should become independant and stop relying on gods" is hilarious in the context of Tru Piss, because it's only with the Goddess' help that she manages to survive the war and win (at least in FE16).
But I guess "pointy ears" don't count, just like Goldoa's dragons or Laguz in general : "might makes right, but when I talk about might, I talk about mine and yours is ignored if it's stronger than mine, or curbed down through dubious means".
Billy has leadership qualities, but can't be seen outshining Supreme Leader because she has to pretend to be the one in charge - where's the muhrit here? Why is she the leader and Emperor if there is someone more qualified or more competent at leader her army around?
You mentionned Billy's lack of titles/lands/responsabilities, but I will add : Billy, at least in the Emile ending, is the one who fights against TWSTD. Doesn't that warrant them something? No, they will keep on fighting until, well, idk. But they will not become a general, a legend or a hero (at least not in their ending cards on CF). Billy's blade (lolol) became legendary, but not themselves. They're nothing but the "wings" of the Hegemon, when in reality, they were the head, sword and shield.
I remember half-joking during the first years following the release with fans who argued that the Supreme Muhritocracy was the way to go (tm), if it was truly the case, then why Flayn and Seteth cannot rule over humans?
Flayn is, by nature, one of the best healers around, why is she banned from having "power over humans" and becoming, idk, a head nurse or a teacher in white magic? Seteth is the one running Garreg Mach, why shouldn't he be able to run another school/monastery?
Is it because muhrit - an entire subjective concept - is in itself, unfair when we consider that in Fodlan, some beings have more "power" than others? Rhea can jump 10 meters high, when Raphael with training would only be able to jump 3 meters high, who are you going to register to the olympics? Rhea or Raph? Dimitri can lift a cart with his pinky, Caspar needs the help of 5 randos, who will be called to lift a boulder ? Dimitri or Caspar?
It's a never ending circle - you cannot have muhritocracy if people with superpowers exist because they screw the rules by virtue of existing, so you have to exclude them even if, by all means, they have more muhrit than anyone else.
But if you do so, are you really advocating for a muhritocracy? Or are you just a hypocrite?
In a way, Supreme Leader's hatred for Nabateans can be explained by both fantastic racism, but also, the fact that their sheer existence ruins her rhetoric.
If every Nabatean (Nabatean blooded) disappears of Foldan and crusts disappear too, would the issue be solved?
Well, look at real life, muhritocracy, for a variety of reasons (schools, wealth, what to do with the 99% who didn't came first), never worked.
Much like Ashnard and Izuka, Supreme Leader needs "help/support" to bring down the ones who run contrary to her theories - but still preaches it even if she bends it whenever it comes to her.
But, really thinking about it, even by Edelgard's own ideals her rule should be illegitimate.
The whole idea is people need to not rely on others in order to be strong, and that those who are deemed strong should rule. But when you think about it with Edelgard, she does not meet that criteria. She gets support from TWSITD, and therefore aids their experiments as well as knowing what they did in order to weaken the Kingdom and Alliance. She needs the support of the Imperial armies that are not under the direct control of the Emperor, so she promises Count Berglitz control of the Alliance territories for his support. She needs someone like Ferdinand in order to make her ideals work, while also needing someone like Hubert to put down rebellions and any other threats to her regime from the shadows. Hell, she can't even win without Byleth supporting her where she takes credit for their leadership.
Now, people will cite her speech against Rhea as proof she grows beyond this mindset but that's not the case. The Japanese text for her solo ending uses the word independent in the context of people not relying on others, not that she brings them freedom, and even if she did grow out of those ideals that means she started a war and all the stuff before for ideals she abandons therefore calling the necessity of the war into question. She'll state the game's major thesis of working together at the end of Flower, but that goes against her own beliefs so she doesn't act on them.
And it's only in Azure Moon where those beliefs are properly explained, leaving the player ignorant of what she really thinks in Flower.
And even then, the fact is Edelgard only wins with Byleth's support. Byleth, the person who could take down Edelgard after her leadership cripples the army following Gronder with just the Church resistance forces and without the backing of any national army. Snow even makes the case that for all of Edelgard's talk of merit, Fodlan will have a leader based on merit when Byleth defeats her. By supporting Edelgard, you're undermining her very ideals. The principles she wants the world based on, which ironically would mean that Silver Snow is the route where Edelgard's merit is on full display. In the routes where's she's defeated, she falls based on her own merit with no support from the player. Supporting her undermines her cause.
Byleth supposedly has all this merit as a leader, yet Edelgard does not award them with any lands or titles. The only answer I can really think of is... well, Edelgard believes that Nabateans shouldn't have any power or authority over humans. She knows Byleth is of Nabatean descent. Basically, she ignores Byleth's merit and instead focuses on their bloodline. Their heritage. Byleth doesn't get to be a leader in her regime simply because Byleth is a Nabatean and therefore shouldn't have any power according to Edelgard.
Edelgard is racist towards Byleth at the end of Flower, while Hopes makes her admit that her being drawn to Byleth is simply her crest resonating with theirs. Somehow, a worse love story than Twilight.
#fantasyinvader#that makes me think of Bleach's Nnoitra#who had to ask Szayel help to defeat Nel even as he always prided and still prides himself#on being the strongest and undefeatable one#even szayel mocks him#'you cheated once you know you're not the strongest you had to cheat to win'#i'll forever be sour that Kubo decided to bring back Grimmjow and not you know#the more interesting espadas#enough of bleach lol#FE16#hubert mentions it himself if#nabateans are so strong why aren't they ruling themselves?#maybe because great power isn't enough to rule over people? you need some other qualities#take Willy#he was a holy knight known for his shield#meanwhile you have Fodlan's Jesus who killed Nemesis in 1vs1#who became the emperor and ruled? or was supposed to? Willy#almost as if true to the FE franchise#a good lord/ruler is one who rules with and for the people and not one who rules alone over the people

Hi there! If you're still accepting Bleach requests, may I see your headcannons based on the Bleach Jet art of the Espadas and Quincies in delinquent school uniforms (specifically Grimmjow, Nnoitra, and Bazz-B)? That official art just gave me major brain worms, and I really like your art and headcannons >.< Also, do you happen to have a Ko-fi/patreon to send donations to?
ACTUALLY funny enough I've been thinking about this art a lot myself lmao so I do have some headcanons! as for my ko-fi or patreon.. like I said before transferring money out of them is impossible where I am right now but I made a boosty acc (I'll link it in my bio)
First I wanna add that I just can't see Stark as a high schooler x). He has the vibe of a teacher who somehow ended up with the worst classes in school despite his formidable reputation. Though maybe he was a delinquent himself in the past so he knows how to deal with these little shits. He also has a soft spot for them so as strict as this man can be he cuts them a lot of slack. Like for example I'm sure Nnoitra would smoke in this AU so I think the first day Stark started working with them they met on the rooftop on the lunch break while Gilga was smoking and instead of scolding him Stark just asked for a cig. Nnoitra almost shit himself. I'm also sure he would ask his class to look after his daughter Lilynette so she won't get into any trouble with that attitude of hers. She's probably in middle school or a couple of years younger than them so yeah... the lil sis of the group...
Despite the differences and constant bickering Nnoitra and Grimmjow are basically attached at the hip. I can see them being childhood frenemies actually. Ulquiorra and Szayel are also somewhere in their orbit of course but these two are the worst duo to stumble upon. Very notorious
Ulquiorra is obviously the class president given the armband. He tries his best to mediate the conflicts between his classmates or make them behave better but it's all in vain. Mostly. Some days he's just not in the mood to be responsible and reasonable when dealing with all the bullshit. When trying to bring delinquents to reason you have to be either very respected among them or more fierce than them and Ulquiorra certainly lacks the authority because of his character and swaglessness. He's very scary when mad however. Everybody knows this by now but they just keep trying their fate. Like I'm telling you once he unbuttons his gakuran it's so fucking over
Unlike Grimmjow Nnoitra is actually bothered with his grades enough to try and work for them and/or study (not all the time of course what do you think he's a loser or something?) It includes scaring people into doing his homework, snatching papers out of Ulquiorra's hands right before the class starts (he's used to it so he carries around two sets of hw) or if he REALLY needs to pass an exam he goes to Szayel, the class smartass. The latter is literally equivalent to dying and going through hell to him because he has to abandon all his pride. If you have a shit ton of money you always can try and ask Szayel to help you. Sure. A little bit of humiliation and you actually know the subject. However when it comes to Nnoitra the freak won't let him breathe because: 1) he doesn't need his money, Nnoitra has plenty and it's already stolen anyway so what's the fun? 2) asking a fellow delinquent you have a beef with for help has different means of payment 3) he just really wants to fuck with this guy's head since he thinks Nnoitra is a curious fella. Gilga is well aware of all of this and he's well aware that Szayel will make him polish his boots with his tongue before even considering helping him with acquiring the forbidden chemistry knowledge. So he has to really work for it whether it's a fistfight or running errands for Szayelaporro. It's a good thing Grantz stays true to his word
Grimmjow has a well-accessorized uniform thanks to Nnoitra but his casual clothing is hilariously uncool. I'm convinced this guy has zero taste both in clothing and prints/patterns because he couldn't care less about what other people think is considered fashionable when all he needs personally is functionality and comfort. He knows how to rock a good hairstyle though but if he wants to wear flip-flops outside then so be it
Nnoitra spends all the money he gets on new accessories and CDs (and maybe sometimes porno magazines) for which he constantly gets picked on. If it's someone not from his immediate friend circle then it's not even worth thinking about - left, right, goodnight. As if he's gonna let anyone get too fucking cheeky with him. He's infamous for being called slurs and then bashing the person's head in for this every week because he wears heels and had to endure children being mean to him because of his eye in kindergarten and primary school so it's no big deal really. But if it's Grimmjow then it's a fucking word battle to death he just can't let it slide. Jaegerjaquez really thinks Nnoitra is gonna get strangled by one of his necklaces one of those days but whatever. It's up to him. His music taste however... Now that's something they quarrel about all the time. "I mean I'm not saying anything! Sure you can buy new TOOL CDs all you want.. cough cough... fucking loser.. cough"
Bazz-B was hell-bent on making friends with Grimmjow because he genuinely thinks this guy is awesome. Look at his laid-back attitude and vicious ways! His blue hair, his style! Ohhh, to be like him!!! Jaegerjaquez on the other hand was not very impressed with how annoying Bazz could get with his neverending attempts of talking to him. Too energetic and loud for his liking. He already has Nnoitra and his big fat mouth he constantly runs all he wants so another talkative guy next to him would be too much for his everyday life. He would literally tell him to fuck off and threaten him with a beating of his life but unfortunately it got Bazz even more fired up. Damn weirdo. And a major pain in the ass. They did find a common ground in the end though and it's... A motorcycle that Bazz owns. Bazzard suggested they could take a ride together as a last resort and it was all it took to buy Grimm. Imagine the most excited person you've ever met and they still won't be as excited as Grimmjow was at that moment. Instant fucking boner! "Dibs on driving though" "Deal!" Grimmjow was surprised to reveal that Bazz-B is actually fun to be around and not as annoying as he initially thought he was. Nnoitra made a joke about them having a date the next day though
I think here Bazz-B suffers the same fate as Sakuragi Hanamichi in the beginning of Slam Dunk which is constantly trying to get girls on a date but being brutally rejected each time lmao 😭It's not like he is a bad-looking guy no it's actually the opposite but his personality and hot-headedness are too much to bear for girls he's going after
Askin is a great negotiator and he knows his way around with words but other than that he sucks. He's not a bad guy, just chronically fucking uncool and has to hide behind other people's backs because of mediocre fighting abilities. He also gets in all kinds of stupid situations because he just can't keep his thoughts to himself sometimes which is a bad asset to his cheesiness
Äs Nödt is also not very good at fighting but he's more useful than Askin lol. A smartass and a menace who is talented at collecting data and black-mail on people by eavesdropping and other means. He's the one who proposes the most out-of-pocket ways of taking revenge on other gangs or teaching someone a lesson so you better be careful with him
I hope I'll make more art of this later cuz I'm a bit burnt out rn

少しからかっただけで 少し驚かせただけで 目の前以外が見えなくなる
Just a little teasing, just a little surprise, except for what's right in front of you, (it all) disappears from sight
誰も同じだなまるで 子供だ
everyone is (exactly) the same, just like children
人間も死神も滅却師とやらもなにもかも等しい低劣
humans, and shinigami, and quincy, and such, absolutely all of it, the same inferiority/worthlessness
お前たちが 藍染様に滅ぼされることに理由があるとすればそれは
If there is a reason for you all to be destroyed by Aizen-sama, then that (reason) is...
その低劣さが罪なのだ
...that inferiority/worthlessness is a sin/crime
While combing through Uryuu stuff I was revisiting this fight, in its many obnoxious disjointed pieces... and I don't think I actually read this whole stretch of the Arrancar Arc in the Viz translation before. A lot of the banter in this part of the story really flies under the radar; there's just a lot of unremarkable back and forth and no actual developments. But this line jumped out at me in English because it immediately felt wrong.
Teiretsu[低劣] can definitely translate as "vile" but that feels like poor word choice, as it really doesn't communicate anything, and doesn't relate back to the start of the line --the bit about children. It ends up sounding more like edgy chuuni gibberish.
But Szayel is actually saying something here, and it relates back to the scene change over to Nel, and her awkwardly framed bare foot...
It's a little muddled by his pretentious gloating, but he's lamenting that everyone he fights(and categorically everyone who isn't an arrancar) is predictable and weak; although "weak" feels like too simple a way to frame it.
He makes the comparison; They're like children. Not strong. Not smart. Underdeveloped. Shortsighted.
Which as we later find out, once Mayuri shows up, sort of rolls into Szayel's whole "perfection" complex. Which is super curious too, because it seems to imply this distain for what is essentially the "unenlightened," and that's a big part of the buddhist themes in Bleach. But it's interesting seeing it come from a villain like Szayel, that he categorically sees the arrancar as being more enlightened than other forms of spirits, including Shinigami. And apart from a personal superiority complex placing him above everyone else, surely there must be some underlying logic to making it about arrancar(even the ones he doesn't like, and aren't him) held above shinigami and humans and quincy, right?
But it's also a direct tie in to the following scene where it cuts to Nel, who was until recently a literal child: not strong. not smart. under developed...
She fights Nnoitra to a stand still and he wants to know why she didn't go for the kill. He thinks like Szayel, that the inferior deserve to die just for being inferior, and he's confused that if she's stronger than him she should just kill him. But Nel in her primitive state of being; living outside of los noches, wearing rags, bare foot, in child form... is an antithesis to all this. And we get a glimpse of her antithetical worldview when she talks about hollows regaining human intelligence.
Not that these musings on what it means to be a hollow or an arrancar, or to have made the leap from one to the other, or Zommari's suggestion that there's no innate evil to the hollows or arrancar, really go anywhere before Kubo just kinda shuffles along to the really thematically bankrupt congaline of captains-v-espada fights in fake karakura.

As we learned early on in Bleach, a zanpakuto cleanses a hollow’s sins and allows them to reincarnate into Soul Society. Or Hell, if the soul must atone for crimes in the material world. I’m sure a lot of fans are still…unsatisfied that most of the espada perished despite being such cool characters, but we need to consider how death is never the end in the Bleach universe and having the ‘heroes’ slaughter them just took them to a new plane of existence where they’re people again instead of wasteland-dwelling cannibalistic monsters in the…sometimes very crude shape of a person. Provided that the rules Kubo established are consistent, all the dead arrancar have been reborn in Soul Society with the high probability of becoming Shinigami. Provided they meet the requirement: death by zanpakuto.
Yammy: cut down by both Byakuya and Kenpachi
Aaroniero: impaled through the head by Rukia’s ice
Szayel Aporro: impaled through the heart by Mayuri
Zommari: died of injuries sustained fighting Byakuya
Grimmjow: still alive
Nnoitra: cut down by Kenpachi
Ulquiorra: died of injuries sustained fighting Ichigo
Harribel: still alive
Barragan: disintegrated from the inside by his respira
Starrk: cut down by Shunsui’s shadows
The fact that Szayel Aporro and Aaroniero are seen in Hell confirms that their deaths brought them to the next stage in the cycle of souls. Aaroniero’s reincarnation reveals that a zanpakuto’s powers count as much as its actual blade does for continuing the cycle, which you would certainly hope was the case because it would logically defeat the purpose otherwise, but he pretty much confirms it. This in turn means that other arrancar killed by a zanpakuto’s constructs are also safe. Namely, Starrk and the majority of the numeros. The ambiguous one is Ulquiorra since, although he definitely got injured by Zangetsu, his actual death was because he ran out of steam after fighting Hollow Ichigo and he dissolved into dust while actually being in far better shape than Ichigo. It’s not entirely clear where the guidelines are because the only time this concept was revisited after like the first arc was Ukitake’s funeral. Since a visored’s hollow and shinigami powers are intertwined, especially in Ichigo’s case, it’s not impossible he accidentally managed to meet the requirements to send Ulquiorra to Soul Society. Or I guess it’s probable that all the espada had to go to Hell in order for their reishi-dense souls to be properly processed, but my point is the cycle probably continues for all of them.
...Except Barragan who was not killed by a zanpakuto or a shikai or a bankai, but by his own corrosion mist being teleported inside of him via kido. This could just be me, but I find it hard to believe Hachigen saved Barragan’s soul by doing that. There’s also cases like Nirgge who apparently died when Sui Feng fell on top of him while fighting Ggio, and again I have to wonder where the lines are drawn. Omaeda definitely hit him with his zanpakuto before it happened, was that good enough or was this man’s soul snuffed out of existence because they didn’t want to make a gag character win a real fight? And what about shinigami who died by hollows, are they just worm food? Is that where ambient reishi comes from, souls who died in a way that they didn’t transfer to the next realm? I might have been thinking about this all wrong then.

Jade Tears
Fandom: Bleach Rating: Teen Genre: Hurt/Comfort/Romance Characters: Ulquiorra, Grimmjow Pairing: Grimmjow/Ulquiorra
Even the Espada of emptiness has to deal with emotions sometimes.
Hollows weren't supposed to fall in love. Wait, scratch that. Hollows weren't supposed to be able to fall in love. And that was why Ulquiorra Cifer dismissed the part of his brain that said that his interest in a certain blue haired Espada was love as nonsense. He didn't know what it was – why he'd had to fight to keep his breath from hitching as he heard Grimmjow growl out for his Zanpakuto to Grind before reaching out and catching the hilt, securely holding it as the then one-armed arrancar tried to keep fighting despite the grievous wounds he had obtained – but there was no way it could be something as pathetically human as love.
Grimmjow hunted him down after his arm had been restored by the woman, something he didn't understand why he permitted – it would have been easy to slip away if he truly wanted to avoid the sexta – and what he said made Ulquiorra freeze, if only mentally.
"Why did you care?"
He didn't. He didn't care that the arrancar had been bleeding and barely able to stand. He'd stopped him because there was no need for him to release; their mission was over and they'd been ordered to retreat. Grimmjow laughed at him when he explained this, telling him that he was lying to himself. Ulquiorra protested, saying that that was a human thing to do. As the cuatra Espada he had no need to hide from the truth.
"Then why did you look sad?"
Ulquiorra mentally scoffed at his subordinate's wishful thinking, deducing that he'd finally cracked, despite that being Szayel's aspect, and walked off, pausing just long enough to throw one last statement at the other.
"You imagined it, trash."
This time he didn't let Grimmjow catch him, using his Sonido to retreat to the safety of his own chambers where no-one else dared enter (no other arrancar, anyway – Aizen-sama and his fellow ex-Shinigami had no qualms about invading his privacy). It didn't stop Grimmjow pounding on his door – he was marginally faster than Ulquiorra, meaning that he was aware that he was inside his chambers, even if Ulquiorra's head start had been just enough to see him there safely – which Ulquiorra dutifully ignored. He'd spent enough time talking to the trash today. He ignored the part of his brain that said he didn't like hearing Grimmjow saying the truth and slowly cracking away at his mask of emptiness.
Interestingly, their duties never again crossed paths. Ulquiorra was in charge of caring for the woman and he neither knew nor cared what Grimmjow was up to. The next time they met, he was confronting the lower ranked Espada for forcing the woman to heal the Shinigami he had already defeated. The fight they got into was short and ended in his loss as the small cube entered his Hollow hole. He couldn't conceal the look of shock on his face – why had he let the blue haired nuisance win? – as Grimmjow pulled at his uniform enough to expose it. Glancing back he was surprised at the look of regret that crossed the panther's face as he was trapped within the other dimension and forced to deal with the snivelling arrancar that had been sealed away before him. Unlike them, however, his reiatsu was strong enough to ensure his release within a few hours – ones that he used to try and work out why his chest seemed to hurt and why Grimmjow was so adamant that there was something more than duty that forced him to step in when the arrancar was so wounded.
He didn't like the conclusion he came to.
Somehow, his chest felt less empty than usual – something that was so wrong, especially as he was not just a Hollow, but the Espada with the aspect of death 'Emptiness'. He still would not call it love, but there was definitely some strong feeling directed towards the loud Espada of destruction. He begrudgingly accepted that there was some form of care involved as he remembered the strange protective instincts that had emerged upon seeing the panther so badly injured in the Living World. If this self-discovery wasn't enough, it appeared that not only had Grimmjow already realised this, but he reciprocated these feelings.
Noticing that that which kept him imprisoned was weakening, he pushed at the barriers with his reiatsu, resolving to find Grimmjow and talk with him at the nearest opportunity. These… feelings were both unhealthy and unnatural and needed to be stopped in both parties before they became too human and the two Espada lost their usefulness. It was a matter of survival and he begrudgingly admitted that he wanted to secure Grimmjow's survival as well as his own, for reasons he didn't understand (he still refused to accept that the mysterious feeling was love).
Reappearing in Las Noches, Ulquiorra quickly realised a flaw in his plan. Grimmjow's reiatsu was nowhere to be felt. The loud blue reiatsu that would not be ignored was gone. The unwanted feelings made his chest tighten and for the briefest moment he allowed worry to flit through his brain, before catching himself. This problem needed to be sorted now. Coming to the conclusion that he would not be able to locate Grimmjow through his reiatsu, he resorted to returning to the place where he had last seen him. The signs of their brief battle were still there, along with further destruction that indicated another battle had occurred since. Looking around, he soon spotted a flash of familiar blue and… something… inside him felt as if it had jumped up his throat. Trying and failing to push it down with pure willpower alone he approached it, quickly realising that his initial suspicions were correct.
Grimmjow was a mess. Three deep wounds marred his chest, with another gash in his left side that looked suspiciously like Nnoitra's Zanpakuto… he didn't put it past the quinta to try and finish off a weakened arrancar, and it appeared that that was what had transpired here. He knelt beside the prone form, reaching out to touch the gash on his cheek before quickly retracting his hand. It was weak, but he had clearly felt Grimmjow's reiatsu respond to the touch. Despite appearances, apparently the sexta was still alive, somehow. Ulquiorra put it down to the blue haired Espada's stubbornness.
A breath caught in Grimmjow's throat and his forehead furrowed slightly as if in a bad dream before his eyes struggled open. Obviously unaware of his surroundings, he muttered something that sounded like a curse directed at both Nnoitra and Kurosaki before his eyes snapped into focus.
"Ulquiorra."
His name came out more as a growl from the weakened Espada's throat.
"Grimmjow."
Ulquiorra was all too aware that it was the first time he had referred to him as something other than trash or sexta – a fact Grimmjow seemed to pick up on, despite his state.
"Don't tell me you were worried."
Ulquiorra surveyed him with his impassive mask still fixed firmly on his face. He had been worried, but the sexta did not need to know that. It was all immaterial now anyway – the sexta was alive.
"Aizen-sama would have been displeased if you were dead."
It was not a lie – their leader would have been displeased, particularly as Ulquiorra had already dispatched Kurosaki before Grimmjow and his pride had forced the woman to heal him so that he could fight him on fair grounds.
"Your eyes."
Grimmjow seemed to want to say more, but his breathing stalled. Ulquiorra forced his own breathing not to stutter in sympathy.
"They're the same."
The same as what? It took Ulquiorra a moment to realise Grimmjow was referring to his previous defeat at the hands of Kurosaki, when he had had only one arm and Ulquiorra had stepped in to prevent the release. Certainly the same feeling was gripping his chest as had then, only in greater proportions as the sexta was weaker. Maybe his eyes really were betraying him. He scowled internally. What a human thing to do.
Grimmjow's breathing caught again, but this time it stayed caught despite the panther's best efforts to force air in and out of his lungs again. Ulquiorra didn't think as he reached out, lifting the sexta's upper body slightly and waiting with baited breath for him to start breathing again. It took time, but soon it calmed. Once sure that Grimmjow was breathing properly again he allowed his own breathing to calm, noting in irritance that he had failed to prevent it stuttering this time. He didn't even realise that he was still supporting the other arrancar.
"I knew you cared."
Grimmjow was looking up at him, his eyes unreadable. Ulquiorra didn't know what to make of it – he could always read his subordinate but the ability seemed to have deserted him. His brain ordered his arms to drop Grimmjow, but his arms refused, instead holding him more securely and bringing him closer to his chest.
"I don't."
He meant to say it calmly. Detached. It came out awkward, the words catching in his throat, while his arms tightened their grip. A blue eyebrow raised sceptically. At that more words came tumbling out of Ulquiorra's mouth, unbidden and unstoppable despite his best efforts.
"I don't understand."
What were these feelings? Why would his body not obey his commands and let go of the weak Espada?
"My chest hurts."
It was as if something was trying to force its way out of it, just below and a little to the left of his Hollow hole – where his heart would be if he still had it.
"What's happening to me?"
There was a strange feeling in the corner of his eye, like something was gathering there as more and more pressure built. Suddenly the pressure lifted and he was left with something warm trickling down his cheek, following the marks that ran down his face. The hand that wasn't supporting Grimmjow came up to touch the strange thing and he stared at the bead of moisture that sat innocently on the tip of his finger. What was it? Curious, and forgetting the audience that lay in his arms, he extended his tongue to taste the moisture. It was salty and warm, and unpleasant.
"You're crying."
Grimmjow's quiet explanation made him freeze, his hand in front of his face as he stared at it. The things running unbidden down his face were tears? Why was he crying? Crying was for humans. He buried the finger that had touched the tear in the sand, trying desperately to get rid of the feeling of the moisture clinging to it.
"I don't understand."
He was repeating himself and he could feel his composure slowly beginning to crumble, defying all his efforts to pull it back together before blue eyes noticed. But the blue eyes were observant – they always had been, an ability hidden behind the mask of chaos and emotion Grimmjow wore. A slightly clawed hand reached up shakily, finally resting against his tearstained cheek, and a gentle thumb wiped the moisture away.
"It's what happens when you care."
Ulquiorra had never thought that Grimmjow could be so gentle, and yet there was nothing but quiet patience in his tone, as though he knew that Ulquiorra was at a loss and needed time to understand what was happening to him. A flood was welling up inside him – a metaphorical one in his chest that threatened to explode out of him, and a literal one building in his eyes. No amount of frantic mental damming could stop them and they released simultaneously. A sob tore itself from his startled throat as rivers rushed down his cheeks. His body hunched over, his face burying itself in Grimmjow's shoulder. The loss of control scared him – he had always been able to make his body do what he wanted, and only what he wanted, and yet now it was doing things he had no conscious control over, nor could he stop.
The hand that had been on his cheek moved round to the back of his head, palm resting on his mask remnants while fingers twitched in his hair. Grimmjow's other arm tried to move, but was unable to due to being pinned between their two bodies.
"It's okay to feel."
Grimmjow was half dead and yet he was the one consoling the confused and terrified cuatra Espada. The irony was not lost on Ulquiorra, and yet he could do nothing about it as his shoulders heaved involuntarily and his whole body shook. He wasn't used to feeling – his entire aspect was about not feeling – and the sudden flood of emotions that had overwhelmed him had sent him into shock. Grimmjow was saying more things, but Ulquiorra couldn't hear them. His ears were filled with the sound of his own pathetic sobs and his body still ignored all his instructions to stop crying and get up.
"How do I stop it?"
He cut one of Grimmjow's nothings off when he spoke, voice thick and lips cumbersome. The quiet answer Grimmjow gave after a pause was unwelcome, but not unexpected.
"You can't."
He became aware that his eyes had dried up to the point of stinging. His lips were heavy and wouldn't stop quivering and his throat was sore from the sobs that still insisted on erupting from his mouth. It was pathetic – he was pathetic – and a part of him strongly rebelled against the idea that the sexta had been there to see him lose all traces of composure. The other part was glad that it was Grimmjow that was there to support him through this terrifying experience. It didn't take him long to recognise that part of him as being the part that had insisted that he was feeling love, a possibility that even now, during the most embarrassing breakdown of his entire life as a Hollow – his only breakdown – he rejected forcefully. He was a Hollow. Hollows could not love.
The hand on the back of his head slid lower, instead resting on his back and beginning to rub slow circles there. It was something Ulquiorra had seen humans do and had scoffed at – how could such contact be remotely comforting, he had wondered scornfully. Being on the receiving end himself, he was forced to re-evaluate that opinion as he felt tension he hadn't even noticed was there begin to melt away, leaving him as a limp wreck clutching Grimmjow as if his existence depended on it. The dry sobs wouldn't stop and he could feel the tightness of his face, particularly his cheeks. He buried his head further into Grimmjow's shoulder, trying to rub away the uncomfortable feeling.
"Feel better?"
Grimmjow's sudden words made him realise that he wasn't shaking quite so much anymore and that his cramped face was slowly loosening. Unbidden, his head moved against the sexta's shoulders in the approximation of a nod and the soothing hand stopped moving, instead pulling Ulquiorra closer to his injured body.
"You shouldn't bottle everything up like that."
Ulquiorra tried to lift his head to look at Grimmjow, but the hand pinning him to the sexta's body restrained him, along with his own body's unwillingness to obey. It appeared that he was still lacking control.
"If you bottle it up too much you'll explode."
Yes, it certainly had felt like an explosion, what with the sudden surge of tears and feelings that had rushed out of him all at once. He felt exhausted, slowly realising that his body wasn't obeying his commands because it was too weak to do so. He had never realised how draining that rapid release of emotions could be. It was something he would be sure to avoid in future. He took some comfort in the fact that his thought process was returning to its usual analytical state.
"Don't lose yourself."
Enough of his strength had returned that he could force his body to sit up, ignoring the resistance of Grimmjow's hand, as he met the sexta's eyes for the first time since the ordeal had begun. The amount of raw emotion he could see in there threatened to overwhelm him again but he crushed it, reminding himself that it was Grimmjow feeling those emotions, not him. He didn't understand how Grimmjow could have so many emotions and not explode. There was care in those blue eyes, along with worry and some relief. Something in the back of his mind pointed out a protectiveness he'd never thought he'd ever see aimed at him and the part of his mind he liked to ignore whispered that there was love in there, too. That was impossible. Hollows didn't love. Hollows couldn't love.
"How can you stand it?"
It was only when Grimmjow's eyes widened slightly that he realised he'd said it out loud. The sexta's response was confused, as if he didn't understand what was so impossible.
"Stand what?"
"So much emotion."
Ulquiorra had to know. How could his subordinate – his inferior – be strong enough to deal with something that had ripped his own mask to shreds? Understanding dawned in Grimmjow's eyes and he laughed, ever so slightly. Ulquiorra expected a long explanation – something reminding him that his aspect was destruction so of course he could handle things that would shatter someone else. Or maybe a reminder that his own aspect was emptiness, meaning that he wasn't supposed to feel so much. Thus, when Grimmjow only said one word, it threw him. It was a word that made so much sense, and yet brought up so many more questions.
"Experience."
Of course it was down to experience. Experience was what made a person – it taught them all of the flaws of the world that surrounded them and how to cope with them. But how did Grimmjow have so much, and how had gaining the experience not destroyed him as it threatened to destroy Ulquiorra.
"I expected a reminder of your aspect."
It slipped out, like so many other things had, reminding him that he was not yet in full control. His inward scolding almost made him miss Grimmjow's confession.
"It helps."
He expected that to be the end of the conversation. Despite being the weaker of the two, part of his own powers meant that Grimmjow had the advantage over Ulquiorra in this respect. He accepted that. After all, the two of them had always been complete opposites – one was a rebel and bright in every aspect; the other was loyal and blended in with the monochrome of the shadows.
"Do you know why?"
Ulquiorra had not expected the conversation to continue. He didn't respond, pleased that he was gaining enough control over himself not to shake his head like a mindless idiot. His silence would be enough of an answer for Grimmjow to understand that he didn't know. Grimmjow had always been able to read him better than most – a fact that both frustrated and pleased him, although why he didn't know.
Grimmjow beckoned for him to come closer. Ulquiorra obliged, leaning in so as to better hear him, feeling as if a great secret was about to be shared. It was a human notion that he quickly discarded.
"Because love is the most destructive of all."
Grimmjow accompanied his barely-whispered words with a feather-light press of his lips against Ulquiorra's, once again successfully freezing the cuatra. The kiss was brief, but Ulquiorra barely noticed when Grimmjow pulled back, his mind once again having been thrown into turmoil. It was impossible. There was no way Grimmjow was suggesting… Hollows didn't love. Hollows couldn't love. Could they?
Part of his brain reminded him that it thought otherwise, and he finally listened.

Fuck it. Gimme all of the asks for Szayel
Mary are you trying to kill me? Are you??
🌷- Answered that one here but in short: He’s worse. But also shows more genuine joy than he does in canon because I want him to be able to infodump and stim. Also didn’t add this there but I realized I make him even more flamboyant and dramatic than he is in canon which is. Unnecessary considering how he is already.
🍁- Answered that one here but again in short: Phelinx was a vasto lorde and met Szayelaporro after he was already an arrancar but also after he reverted to an adjuchas.
🍒 - What are some headcanons you have about your f/o?
I hc that before he died, Yylfordt would sometimes stop by to act like a big brother and bother Szayel and just bug him but really he was genuinely checking in. Brotherly instincts stay even after death. They still don’t have a good relationship and Szayel doesn’t like him but Yllfordt still acts like a big brother. Maybe it’s just repeating the motions of when they were alive because it’s not out of genuine care or concern, but he still did it.
This one started as an inside joke but in his resurrección he’s slimy. It isn’t sticky but it’s just slimy and gross to touch. Also in his resurrección, his wings can change firmness and go from sturdy wings to loose and tentacle like. Also has tentacles under his skirt. I have a lot of hc actually about this form but they get weirder from here and I don’t wanna gross anyone out kdaslfjd
Also Szayel has an abnormally long tongue. Kinda like a lizard.
🍎 - What are some headcanons for your s/i?
Phelinx headcanons.... 2! Phelinx doesn’t know how to control his emotions anymore so that’s why he’s either tired or angry, they’re the only two he can reasonably control. He doesn’t know how to cry anymore either.
Also he likes Nnoitra. He doesn’t know why but he looks up to him (figuratively and literally). Tesla thinks he’s up to something sometimes but no Phelinx just wants Nnoitra to be his friend. Speaking of friends, Phelinx doesn’t like Yylfordt and he doesn’t know why.
Phelinx has no memories of when he was alive but frequently has nightmares that he can never remember when he wakes up, but are actually him reliving his death.
🍇 - How did you get introduced to your f/o?
YOU CAUSED THIS. YOU ARE THE ONE RESPONSIBLE FOR SZAYEL LOVE PART 2.
🌈 - Do you have any LGBT+ headcanons about your f/o and/or s/i? If so, what are they?
Trans masculine nonbinary. Uses masculine words and he/him pronouns along with they/them but does not identify as a man 100%. Does not know how to describe it either. None gender with left boy.
His sexuality is he likes men and nonbinary people and would just call himself gay if anyone asks.
❤️- Answered that one here but in short again: He doesn’t understand personal space and it comes off as affection because he doesn’t know how to deal with honest, genuine feelings of love and the desire for affection.
🧡 - What's an unpopular opinion you have about your f/o?
I think the way he died was shit and here was a dangerous, cool character that only lost in the most bullshit “oh but I knew you were going to do that so I planned ahead” way. Is that unpopular thought? I dunno.
💛 - Do you like the source material your f/o came from?
Yeah I’d say I like Bleach for what it is. I’m not an expert on it and haven’t read anything close to the whole thing but, I like Bleach.
💚 - When is your f/o's birthday?
JUNE 22ND BAYBEEEEE IT’S ALMOST TIME FOR THE BIG DAY
💙 - What trope dos your self ship fall under?
Enemies to lovers but like. You aren’t sure if they’re still in the enemies phase or if this is the lovers phase.
💜 - How does your f/o and s/i flirt?
Every word that comes out of Szayel’s mouth is either condescending or flirty. Phelinx physically cannot flirt or he will combust.

My bleach musings.
Bleach is a series I love and somentimes the mood strikes for me to talk about it, so here I will post some theories, thoughts, headcannons and even plot bunnies I've gathered. Of course spoilers ahead.
First, I really like how the whole business with zangetsu ended up for Ichigo, how all inner guiding was rendered fullfilled once he realised the simple truth that both zangetsu's were him. It really gave the impression that he found himself and was finally aware of all his power and how it worked. At the same time, it pains me he never actually explained it or used it fully, I felt dissconected from him, he knew now better than ever what his real power was, and I didn't do at all.
Unpopular opinion, I like the fullbrighter arc, I agree that it was a pain watching it be written at snail pace, and that the total change of setting felt bad then, but reading it again all in one go it's a fantastic piece of mentally torturing your protagonist, so well made how it explores ichigo fears and weak points, with tsukishima exploiting them one by one in a downrall spiral. I found myself wondering how far kubo could break him down...the conclusion here is that it would have been interesting if it went more like this, alas kubo heart is too soft(my is soft too I was relieved he was alright, I just felt the escape from the situation a little cheap. It made sense that people now helped him back, so it's alright) the real conclusion here is that kubo can write psicological pieces if he puts his mind into it.
I want to talk about hollows now, so bear with me. I heard some thing orctwo from the nocels, but I dod not read them and also they're kinda-like canon, so I will try to not mention them or to explain if at any point I get something from them what that is. And if something was explained another way in a novel, then anyways I like my headcanon too.
So, now, my personal hollow theory lesson:
First, hollows are plus that stayed too long in the world of living (generally souls go automatically to siul society, you stay in the living world if you have regrets 'chaining you' there) and whose chain broke with time as these regrets acumulatted, becoming a hollow.
Hollows renounced their hearts to calm the pain, and their remants now form a mask that protects them. Also, they have a hollow left behind that marks their empiness they now feel, they lack humanity and hunger from it. That's why they seek to eat souls, to fill that hole, but they will always remain hungry.
Now we all know some hollows start seeing other's hollows as prey. This has not to do with power level but with a personal thing, I believe. A hollow might always remain a hollow or migth want to eat others and eventually become gillian, and that's intristic on the hollow( think the horse and king discourse here).
Now what happens when someone is eaten by a hollow? Not with their power, with their souls? My headcannon goes as follows:
First do you remember how gillians are said to be hundreds our wills silenced and going numb and adchucas are born from the ones where a voice is stronger than the rest and wants to keep eating? Well, it's always like that. A soul eaten by a hollow becomes part of the hollow, totally suprimed by the primary conscience. They become part of him/her. It's a bit weird, but hear me out. Let's say a shinigami purifies a hollow that has eaten 99 souls. Then all 100 souls are retourned to soul society when they are purified. They return to the balance (quincy wiping out hollows from existance is dramatic) as different souls.
But at the same time, I think these souls do influence the primary mind (the king). Their accumulation does change a little bit the person, even if it's always fundamentally the first soul.
Also, I'm pretty sure there exist two types of eating. The total kind and the partial kind. The total kind gives more power and total control of the soul, the partial is when full can't be done. Partial eating stops the evolution on hollows and twists plusses into hollows of their own.
About shinigamis, I've heard somewhere that they soul reborns in the human world and only their body can be consumed, and at the end it makes a lot of sense. How else will shinigami die?(I think this also goes for anyone living in soul society, they're especially delicious to hollows because they give power but don't add up to the cacophony of voices they are constantly suppressing.(this is probably an instrictual thing they can't turn off)). Aaroniero is an special case like methalasia.
Another thing is that their memories should become murkier the more souls they eat. Hollows all have at least their loved ones on intrinsic memory when they're born (the ones that made you warm the ones you should it) so they all have some memory of their past lives at the start, but it surely gets murkier with more souls eaten. That being said, as hollows are lost souls at their bare, something always lingers with them. About plus souls in soul society, it said the probability is really small, but I think it also depends on who you encounter. If you met your mom when you arrive, you will remember her. (The boy and sado, the boy remembered sado and their promise, because they were connected). The probabilty of such encounter in tour entire lives on soul society is the improbable one, and if you didnt have a strong will to find them as you die I doubt you will even remember they existed. But strong impression might remain, when you don't expect them.
Now going back to hollows, another thing is their masks. It's tabú not only for shinigamis but between hollows themselves to destroy another's mask. (See nelliel reaction to nnoitra destroying her fraccions masks)Also, becoming an arrancar its more inner that destroting a mask, hollow masks grow back when destroyed (nel fraccion, also orihime's brother.)I think is implied by the later that they remember when they were human without it . But he was a new holloow so...what's clear is that they're at their most vulnerable without them, and that it will grow back to protect them. But it may not completely(grim fraccion, nel broken one)...it may cause a trauma that prevents it's vomplete regrow, but is not an advance but a wound, they cover it up. To break your mask to become an arrancar (naturally) must be an inner determination.
About hell, pretty sure hollows always go to soul society, and only can go to hell if they were evil in their human lives too. Soul reapers can go to hell. Also, it can happen that a hollow changes and becomes better and ends up not going to hell. Like, let's say nelliel was an horrible human, now as she changed in hueco mundo she won't end up in hell when she dies, you need to remain a bad person to go to hell.
I have more theories regarding resurrection, the other resurrection, and a lot more things, but this is long enough. Let me give a last thought for now.
Both Aaroniero and Szayel cases interest me, but let's focus a bit on szayel and his brother. I know about what the novel said(the cero espada stuff I find hilarious, it's another number pun: two ceros conjoined made an eight, when they are surperpossed they make again a cero), and what their backstory was in it, but let's ignore it now, even better, let's pretend it's false.
I really find interesting the reality where these two souls encountering is actually accidental.
Tell me, what are the odds, of two souls not only both becoming hollows and managing to miss each other(so the did not eat the other)...but both reaching adjuchas rank(or a adjuchas and a vasto lorde, same thing), and both reuniting, under the same, ambitious man? How infinitessimal the probabilities are? To not be killed by soul reapers or other hollows, to both becoming attracted to eat hollows, to both becoming and active voice in a gillian, to both becoming adjuchas and surviving (and one to vasto lorde if you want)...it's too low to be posible, that's why the novel explamation while not perfect does make more sense, but even so!
I really want to see that scientific face, being so throghtfully confronted by this imposible fate staring right back at him.

Top 5 Bleach characters you'd punch in the face if you got 1 free shot with guaranteed no repercussions?
Bold of you to assume I wouldn’t punch people in the face along with the repercussions.
Nnoitra. It’s not for the Nnoitra discourse. I think people on either side of that argument would agree that he needs a punch in the face.
Luppi. God, I want to regress into a schoolyard bully to shove that kid into a trashcan. Listen, he shouldn’t even irritate me this much objectively but I don’t want to witness his hentai resurrectión ever again.
Mayuri. Specifically when he’s dressed up as the morning sun. I’d make sure he can get back to work after I punch him because he’s useful but— do I even have to, though? I’m not sure his face is made of human flesh at this point.
Szayel. And that would be one satisfying punch. Assuming he wouldn’t get off on it, I wouldn’t rule it out.
Barragan. Aside from the fact that he deserves it (“There’s no roof because all of Hueco Mundo is my palace” yeah fine!! I guess!! Just get caught up in a sandstorm you goddamn genius!!); I’d probably die while punching him. Just let me die.
#anon#ask#a lot of frustration went into this#my genuine feelings you guys#don’t get me wrong these are all great characters but also greatly#punchable.

Thinking about the general hypocrisy of "might/muhrit makes right" characters, I noticed something.
Ashnard brags about his vision to Ike'n'pals and dies to someone who is stronger than him, so in his mind, strength > everything :
Ashnard: I do. Oh, how I do… It’s true. The world may be destroyed by the coming of the dark god. Then again, it may not. I question the way in which our society is designed. No matter what strength a person has, it is the station he is born into that controls his destiny. And you cannot control where you will be born. Do you believe that a person of low birth should simply endure the curse of his station? I think not. If you are stronger than those around you, you should benefit from your strength. This is why I will use my strength to remake this world. Class and rank will not matter. Human and sub-human will not matter. The strong will possess everything. The weak will submit to their will. Is this not the meaning of peace?
But isn't the biggest slap in his face the realisation that the man who was behind him and played him, at least for this war, like a fiddle, was the weakest subhuman ever, a heron, who even lost his magical subhuman powers?
Might makes right and all, but who is the last man standing in this entire mess?
A powerless heron.
In a way, Ashnard himself, unknowingly, submitted to the will of that heron, who was willing to rob everyone of their everything.
Just for shit'n'giggles, I wonder what would Ashnard have to say if he ever realised, or maybe had a FB in FEH, that Sephiran, a powerless heron, had been the one who instigated his war, his "discovery" of the medallion, was one of those weaklings he loathed and wanted to submit.
Oh well.
#Tellius stuff#It's always hypocrisy because those characters saying strength matters more than anything else#always deal first with the beings who are stronger than them either by trickery or attacking them when they sleep#Nemesis deboned a sleeping Sothis and targeted a bunch of villagers to slaughter them all instead of having the great 1vs1 FD duel#Rhea gave him one and he died though#Ashnard lure Rajaion with bby Soren and used Izuka's funky potion on him#but if it was all about strength Rajaion by virtue of being Deg's son would have flattened him#Supreme Leader uses uncle's beasties to defeat Rhea or has her outnumbered and targets non combattants#so Rhea has to either flee or be caught by Uncle#it makes me think of Bleach's Nnoitra#who's super proud of his strength and all#but is really pissed when anyone reminds him that he defeated Neliel thanks to Szayel's tricks#so how is this supposed to show your strength/muhrit over the one you defeat?#random stuff

Getting To Know You...
Tagged by: @ishizukilover14 thanks buddy’o’Pal
Relationship status: Thankfully single right now
Favorite color: Neon Green
Top ships: TBH my list is impossibly large so I’ll name my top 5 from 5 different series or we’ll be here forever. (also I’ll write the rest under the cut cos otp talk gets long for me.)
DGM- I’m a big fan of Kanda/Alma/Allen as a ot3, Pokerpair, Pieshipping, the fandoms obvious main ship being Yullen, and good ol’ LaviYu. Pretty gay but there’s not a lotta ladies in this series :( I mean back when I was a Young Teen I had a big thing for shipping Road and Lenalee for some reason??? Died out as I got older because there was no content for it and there really wasn’t much in the way of good canon interaction so it didn’t make much sense to me over time. Guess my young dumb gay brain thought ‘ooh i love these girls so maybe they should love each other’. Also I have no idea why but in 6th grade/ year 7 my 2 biggest ships were for god knows what fucking reason, but they were Bak Chan / Allen and then Jasdevi / Krory?????????????? Dunno what 12 year old me was thinking, having actually written fics for these pairings somewhere out there on ff . net.
Fairy Tail: Top 5 in Fairy Tail is pretty simple for me. I love some MidCo, Jerza, LoLu, Fraxus, I love Lucy/Juvia but idk the ship name for them?? This was hard to choose because I have a big love for GaLe and Gajeel/Natsu and so many others but like?? People shit on Fairy Tail and it’s honestly one of the best series if you get past the first season.
Naruto: OroKabu will always rank #1 for me in this series. Followed by ItaNaru, SakuHina, ItaDei, KisaIta. Easy list. I have a godawful amount of ships from this series but naming my faves are easy goddamn peasy.
Bleach: GrimmUlqui! #1 all the time. Then Szayel/Nnoitra, Nnoitra/Tesla, HichiIchi, and then last but not least, UlquiHime. I was tempted to switch out Nnoiszay with RukiHime but my love for Nnoitra coupled with my old kinning of Szayel overtook my love of Orihime and Rukia.
for my last ‘fandom’ I’ll just whack down some miscellaneous ships from diff series. 1- FrostIron, Marvel. 2- David/Michael, The Lost Boys. 3- HisoIllu, HxH. 4-Graves/Newt, FBAWTFT. 5- Maria/Mary, Bloody Mary.
Last song: Today You Are A Child by Vandal Moon. (Seizure warning for the video if you watch it)
Last movie: Alita Battle Angel. I went in with not very high hopes but honestly? Came out of the cinema feeling blessed. Spent the last of my free movie tickets taking my friend with me when I went to go see it again. It was honestly really good.

Do you write for aizen, shinji, uryu, gin, yumichicka, szayel, as nodt, ulquiorra , nnoitra or mayuri? And may I add you to my bleach writers list ?
hmm… i will definitely write for shinji, uryu, gin, szayel, äs nödt and ulquiorra. the other four are debatable, as i am not particularly fond of them and don’t think i could write them well or comfortably.
you may absolutely add me to it! aaah it makes me happy that you even considered it ^^ thank you much

Heya! Hope you're pleasantly drunk by now! Is the Shunsui b-day thing still on? If so, Shun-Uki head canons please! Whatever you want to say about it (I reckon you might have a thing or two...)
Hey hey, Anon! Yes yes, the birthday thing is absolutely still on - and, actually, I think I might just, like, leave it on indefinitely. I kinda like this game, heh.
(Sorry I didn’t get to your ask last night, btw. I fell asleep at like 1am because I’m a square. Eh. Oh well. Shunsui would be proud of me for that, too. He’s a guy who gets the whole sleep thing.)
Anyway! ShunUki headcanons, you ask? As a matter of fact, my friend, I do indeed have a headcanon or two! But because going through all of them would take a long, long time - I think I may just describe one of them here, if that’s cool. Do feel free to drop another ask later if you’d like more, though!
One of the most bizarre and fascinating things to me about Shunsui is that his first-person pronoun of choice is boku.
For those who are unfamiliar with Japanese first-person pronouns, Wikipedia has this to say about boku: “Used by males of all ages; very often used by boys. Perceived as humble, but can also carry an undertone of “feeling young” when used by males of older age. Also used when casually giving deference; “servant” uses the same kanji (僕 shimobe).” That doesn’t convey all of the flavor of using the pronoun “boku” in anime, but for context - other Bleach characters who use “boku” include Uryuu, Hanatarou, Yumichika, Gin, Kira (and Rose, now that I think of it - so everyone of significance in Squad 3, I guess - huh. Maybe there’s something in that. Also maybe not. Eh. Whatever), Szayel, Tsukishima, Urahara during TBTP (he switches to atashi later, which is a whole nother thing, but I won’t get into that here), and others. In the world of anime, I find that boku is used by characters who are either “polite speakers,” characters who are young, or characters who are a little bit slippery, and are trying to hide something.
I didn’t know until I was well into the TYBW arc that Shunsui used boku - mostly because I’d watched the anime dubbed *cringes* and was reading the manga in English. I’d assumed, knowing that he was a powerful dude with chest hair, that he used ore (which I’ll get into in a minute), or maaaaaybe even washi (i.e., the old man pronoun).
So, already reeling from this new knowledge, I, of course, had to ask myself - which pronoun does Ukitake use? He’s kind and polite, isn’t he? Surely - surely - a guy like that uses boku…?
But no, my friends - Juu-chan, tragic and handsome embodiment of Shinigami sunshine that he is, uses the first-person pronoun ore.
…which, as promised, we will discuss here. Ah-ha-ha-hem: “Frequently used by men. Establishes a sense of masculinity. Can be seen as rude depending on the context. Emphasizes one’s own status when used with peers and with those who are younger or of lesser status. Among close friends or family, its use conveys familiarity rather than masculinity or superiority.” So, yeah - basically, in anime terms, it’s a quick way of letting the audience know that this character is a man who is comfortable with being a man, and in some cases, it can be a way of conveying that a character is assertive, or a generally informal speaker. Other Bleach characters who use ore include Ichigo, Renji, Kenpachi (so, just to be totally clear here, Ukitake uses the same first-person pronoun as Kenpachi), Shuuhei, Iba, Starrk, Nnoitra, and Grimmjow (which - again - Ukitake uses the same first-person pronoun as freaking Grimmjow), among others.
Learning that boku was Shunsui’s pronoun of choice and that ore was Ukitake’s forced me to think about both of them a little bit differently - and, I eventually found, in ways that I liked, and that made sense for their characters, when I actually sat down to connect all of the dots.
I think that ShunUki is a frequently misunderstood ship. I’ve read dozens of fics, for example, that portray Ukitake as a perpetually ailing optimist who leans heavily on his best friend for support, both physical and emotional. There’s validity in writing fics like that - and, full disclosure, I’m an absolute sucker for a well-written sickfic - but I think that ending one’s conclusions about ShunUki there does a disservice to both Shunsui and Ukitake, and oversimplifies the ship in general.
I believe that, generally speaking, Ukitake is a fundamentally stronger person than Shunsui is. He’s encountered hardship, but he’s well-adjusted and personable. He’s emotionally intuitive, but he still possesses the ability to make difficult decisions. He’s a man of peace who has still applied himself wholeheartedly to learning the arts of war. He’s a cute, sweet, goodhearted gentleman who loves sweets and has no idea how to cultivate bonsai. He knows who he is - strengths and weaknesses and all - and he is not ashamed of himself. And his pronoun of choice, ore, reflects his quiet but undeniable inner confidence.
Shunsui, by contrast, drinks all day and takes naps in the middle of the afternoon on a regular basis. Shunsui can’t keep up with his paperwork. Shunsui doesn’t have a good relationship with his family. Shunsuihas a soul whose greatest power manifests itself through a dark, painful, intricate story of lovers who commit suicide.
When you think about it like that, is it any wonder that Shunsui might feel a little more comfortable using boku, an potentially more elusive pronoun than the arguably expected ore?
I still had to figure out, though, why these pronouns still threw me for a bit of a loop. On the surface, I still struggled to see Ukitake as anything but a boku user (or maaaaybe watashi, I guess, but that’s a little stuffy for him imo) and to see Shunsui as anything but an ore user.
And thanks to these thoughts, a headcanon (I promise, I didn’t forget what this question was actually about lol) was born.
I think that, when Shunsui and Ukitake met during their Academy days, Ukitake was a boku user and Shunsui was an ore user. Ukitake valued politeness and etiquette - he still does, even during the main arc - and as a young boy raised in a noble family, he would have been taught to speak politely and properly. He would use boku at this time in the same way that a character like Uryuu would - it’s polite, it’s correct, and it gives a small level of respectable deference to his peers. (Plus also, there’s no way anyone can convince me that little baby Juu-chan wasn’t all wide-eyed and cute when he entered the Academy, and cute, wide-eyed characters - think Deku from BNHA, Nagisa from Free!!, Rock Lee from Naruto if you want the super-extreme version haha - tend to use boku in anime and manga.) Shunsui, by contrast, was a too-cool-for-school slacker boy who liked chasing skirts and who had never had as much freedom at home as he’d wanted. While Shunsui never wanted to attend the Academy, I don’t doubt that he valued what little new freedom it gave him.
See below:

Also, if this doesn’t look like the face of a smug-ass ore user, then I don’t know what does:

We know that Shunsui and Ukitake met at the Academy and became friends. We also know that, during the main plot, Shunsui uses the pronoun boku and Ukitake uses the pronoun ore. It may not line up completely perfectly when all is said and done, but simply put, my headcanon is this: As Shunsui and Ukitake spent more time together as friends and learned more about themselves as they grew older, they slowly switched personal pronouns.
This happened for several reasons.Ukitake ’s story is pretty straightforward - you see multiple young protagonists switch from boku to ore over the course of their respective anime (such as Shinji Ikari from NGE and Simon from Gurren Lagann, for example). This shift usually implies that a character has grown up, or has grown more confident - and I figure that’s exactly what happened to Ukitake. He entered the academy as a bright, young boy with a lot of physical challenges to overcome, and probably a lot of self-doubt, but through six years of training and education, and six years of friendship with a lunk like Shunsui, he slowly began to gain confidence - enough that, by the time he entered the Gotei proper, he was ready to claim ore as his pronoun of choice.
Shunsui’s journey was probably a little more roundabout. Shunsui is a strange guy, and he stands out. He’s different from those around him, and attending the Academy probably highlighted those differences. He’s smarter than almost everyone he interacts with, for one thing, and there’s a duality about him that most people don’t experience firsthand - the key aspect being that he’s a male-presenting person with a female-presenting zanpakutō spirit, which is, I think, indicative of many other dualities that exist inside him. My guess is that, at first, Shunsui tried to hide a lot of his complexities, and to present himself as a boring, straightforward, oh-hey-I-like-slacking-off-and-chasing-girls kind of guy, and using the pronoun ore was a quick, easy, uncomplicated shortcut that helped that image. But as Shunsui began to grow closer to Ukitake, I’m sure that he began to letUkitake see the many dualities within him - whether he intended to or not. Ukitake, being the kind soul he is, embraced these parts of Shunsui. He told Shunsui that it’s okay to be complicated, that it’s okay to be strange - that it’s even okay to be a little messed up inside. That it’s okay to be who you are, even if it isn’t what people expect, or ask of you.
So, in short! The headcanon goes like this:
When they first met during their Academy days, Ukitake’s pronoun of choice was boku, and Shunsui’s was ore. As they became friends and moved through the Academy together, Shunsui helped Ukitake’s confidence grow, and Ukitake helped Shunsui towards self-acceptance in general. By the time they graduated the Academy - or perhaps shortly thereafter - Ukitake’s pronoun of choice had shifted to ore (Shunsui’s former pronoun of choice) and Shunsui’s pronoun of choice had shifted to boku (Ukitake’s former pronoun of choice). These pronoun shifts reflect Shunsui’s and Ukitake’s growth, both as individuals and as friends.
Phew! Welp, uh - that got longer than I anticipated it would. But it’s a personal favorite headcanon of mine, and I haven’t ever had an excuse to share it publicly, so - thanks for giving me the excuse I needed, Anon! I had fun writing this up - hope you had fun reading it, too!
Ask me about myShunsui headcanons!
I’m not drunk anymore btw because yaboi can’t do that two nights in a row lol - I hope this was still fun anyway!!

-Ichigo covers opening 1 ′Asterisk’, the 3rd movie ending “Koyoi Tsuki ga miezu tomo’ and the 4th movie ending ‘Save the one, save the all’ (diamond dust rebellion?) and he’s not such a bad singer! True he isn’t going to win any awards, but he’s fairly decent!
-Rukia covers opening 12 ‘Change’ and she sounds absolutely lovely! EH HOLD ON MY RUKIHIME HEART JUST OVERFLOWED WITH THE FEELS RUKIA AND ORIHIME COVER OPENING 10 ‘SHOUJO S’ AND ITS AMAZING FOUR FOR YOU RUKIHIME YOU GO RUKIHIME

-Lisa, Hiyori and Mashiro cover ending 22 ‘Tabidatsu kimi e’ and I’m literally stunned at how beautifully they sing...are all the visoreds this good at singing?! They should have started a band or something! (Now it makes me wish I could hear Rose, Love and Hachi sing; I’ve already heard Tomokazu Sugita singing and I can certify that by default Kensei IS a good singer!)
-Tier Harribel covers opening 9 ‘Velonica’ and needless to say I think we all know who won the karaoke contest held in Hueco Mundo. Grimmjow covers ending 24 ‘Echoes’ and so now we also know that he rightfully deserves the title King, because HOT DAMN that is one terrific voice!
-Coyote Starrk and Lilynette Gingerbuck covers ending 15 ‘Orange’ and Starrk rapping is seriously one of the funniest things you could ever imagine as well as one of the most heartwarming things to ever exist along with Lilynette’s adorable voice. *weeps at remembering their fates in canon*
-Szayel Aporro Granz covers opening 6 ‘Alones’. Just try imagining him or KIBA INUZUKA singing this. If that doesn’t seem out of the ordinary try imagining ACNOLOGIA singing this song. ACNO-I-WILL-DESTROY-EVERYTHING-THAT-MOVES-LOGIA’S SEIYUU VOICES KIBA AND SZAYEL AND SINGS THIS SONG. WHAT.
-Aaronierro Arrurrueri covers opening 21 ‘Sakurobito’, but its actually Kaien’s voice soo...we all know who got disqualified then.
-Actually I take it back, Grimmjow’s got some serious competion a la Ulquiorra’s cover of opening 11 ‘Anima Rossa’ and damn it’s too good! Just try imagining the stoic espada singing.
-Nnoitra Gilga and Tesra Lindocruz cover opening 13 ‘Ranbu No Melody’. Who knew spoon-sama could actually sing? In that manner of speaking, Mayuri and Nemu Kurotsuchi cover ending 1 ‘Life is like a boat’ and you will WEEP on hearing Nemu’s voice because its so sweet and nostalgic and heartbreaking and now I’m reminded of her death. Why.
-Ending 17 ‘Hitohira no hanabira’ gets covered by Apacci, Mila Rose and Sung-sung and seriously, did the Hogyoku decide on making sure every arrancar became more than just a bathroom singer?
-And HOW can you ever forget the cover of opening 3 ‘Ichirin no Hana’ by Aizen and Momo? God-complex-sama here does the screamo portion at the end. No words guys. No words.

I got tagged by @for-lack-of-a-better-world so... Hello there!
Rules: tell me your favorite characters from fictional works (movies, books, tv, video games, etc.) and tag 10 people!
Personally, I’ve tried to keep this to one character from each thing or I’ll fill this list before I get past FFXV and KH, so...
1. Ignis - FFXV - Hands down my favourite character in it, and since it’s flavour of the month with me (and BOY do I go for the long haul on a fandom sometimes, so this could be a very long month), he gets top billing. I just... The voice, the looks, the fact he says ‘petrol’ instead of ‘gas’, the fact that he’s an adorable little nerd that looks like a catwalk model and clearly has bags of style and so very little taste in clothing... I love this character. He’s heavily, heavily flawed, and he makes stupid selfish decisions based on feelings and not practicality, and you agree with him because damn it, feelings. Yes, I’m going to take this newly blind person into a horrible soggy mine that’s treacherous underfoot, and a maze to navigate, filled with monsters; it’d be cruel not to. (Other contenders: Gladio, Iris, Aranea, Cor, Prompto, Noctis, Ardyn.)
2. Saix/Isa - Kingdom Hearts - It took me a decade to fall out with this series hard enough to bump this guy to a number two slot. I liked Saix anyway, because his introduction, where he shows up and golf claps at Sora before asking if he’s seen a man named Axel just got me. I could listen to Kirk Thornton read the phone book, and then he’s a blue haired prettyboy with yellow eyes underneath that hood? And then he clearly has a flair for the dramatic, since he decides to exit by holding his arms out and stepping backwards into the corridor of darkness. Then we find out he was a silly little kid named Isa, full of mischief and teenage arrogance, with his best friend Lea and the way that friendship broke down, and I just want to hug the little shit. I wanna hug both the little shits. (Other contenders: Axel/Lea, Marluxia, Larxene, Xigbar and he nearly got his own slot despite my rule, Even/Vexen, Ienzo/Zexion)
3. Havelock Vetinari - Discworld - One of my literary crushes when I was younger, still a favoured character today. I’m not a fan of the last few Discworld books, but the Patrician in Jingo is just an absolute star. Jingo, Feet of Clay, Going Postal, Making Money, and all inbetween are the glory days of the series for me, and they’re where Vetinari is at his peak. Seeing him as a youngster in Night Watch was excellent. (Other contenders: Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, Sam Vimes, Angua von Uberwald, Cheery Littlebottom, Nobby Nobbs, Dorfl, Adora Belle Dearheart.)
4. Ulquiorra - Bleach - This arrogant, miserable little no-nonsense buttmunch. He’s utterly loyal, for some reason, despite the fact that he gets Demyx’d (used as a verb because, like Demyx in KHII, Ulquiorra also gets put in the way of the hero in order to slow him down with no expectations that he will survive the encounter, and in point of fact, surviving the encounter would thoroughly scupper the bad guy’s, that being his boss’s, plan) and he seems to know he’s being Demyx’d. He doesn’t half witter on with himself, mostly about how everything is pointless because he’s so much stronger than the hero, but he also successfully killed the hero twice. Unfortunately for Ulquiorra, Ichigo had plot armour, so he got better, both times. (Other contenders: Grimmjow, Nnoitra, Nel Tu, Apacci, Szayel)
5. Maleficent - Sleeping Beauty - Don’t come near me with the Angelina Jolie version. Original flavour Maleficent or GTFO please. She’s a black fairy who decided the best revenge she could get when she was snubbed for a party was to let everybody fret for sixteen years, and then capture the prince and keep him until he was so old it didn’t work any more. She was evil, and she enjoyed it. Also she turns into a dragon, always a bonus.
6. Kadaj - FFVII Compilation - Some good contenders for this one, but I have a soft spot for the poor unfortunate swine that got to be the physical manifestation of Sephiroth’s batshit insanity. He knows he’s not mommy’s favourite, so he’s riddled with inadequacy issues. He’s another character in desperate need of a hug. Also his motorbike is ridiculous and far too big for him. (Other contenders: Aerith, Hojo)
7. Freya - FFIX - She has her own story within the game, but it never takes over, and even though it’s a love story, it never once stops her being an absolute badass.
8. Donna Noble - Doctor Who - Best companion of the modern series by far. She starts out as the sort of annoying, attention seeking, absolutely tedious person to be around, who I’m sure we all know at least one of, and ends up growing so much over the course of her journey, and she doesn’t change because of the Doctor, she changes because of the things she sees and learns along the way. Shame about the way they ended it for her.
9. Professor McGonagall - Harry Potter - Favourite Harry Potter character by far. She’s so no-nonsense in her job, and yet she’s also super competitive, and an absolute ass kicker. I wish there’d been more of her.
10. Arya Stark - Game of Thrones - I need to catch up on reading these books, because I seem to read at the pace GRR Martin damn well writes, but she’s just such a broken character. Life is cheap to her, she is terrifying, life has been cheap to her since she was very little. The events of the story just stripped her compassion away, for the sake of her own survival. People seem to think she’s amazing, and strong, and a badass, and she is, but she’s also very, very broken by all that she’s lost.
I tag... anyone that wants to do this. I know the people I’d be tempted to tag are unlikely to participate.
#opinions#seriously though I'd have filled ten slots just with the first two canons I listed#I wouldn't have got all the way through my list of KH characters even
