idk what this is. i like robots. i’ll clean these up later. i think.
anyways while drawing these I started thinking abt like. idk does this count as an AU.
General shit:
I didn't make it clear, but the robots that have pupils were built without a hardcoded purpose. They've always been free to explore what they want to do. The robots with fully colored "scleras" were created with a purpose from the jump, so their creators didn't feel the need to make them appear more "human".
The more expensive a robot's parts are, the less clunky it is.
Right now, I'm going with "their human family built them" but that's liable to change.
The designs are also liable to change because uh. duh.
Celestia Ludenberg:
Viewed the robots with an imbued purpose as interesting and superior (something something humanity's advancement). She wants to be praised like that, so she emulates them
Her cat loves how much heat she radiates so it's always near her.
Most of her upgrades are cosmetic but if they aren't, they're stupid. She won't upgrade her CPU or her motherboard, but she'll load up with three 4090s that her other components can't even keep up with. Yes, she does it to flex.
She'll distract from bootleg, refurbished, or shoddily painted parts by turning on her RGB. It gets annoying.
She knows that she's fairly unsettling and she revels in it.
All things considered, her cable management is pretty good.
Her gambling skill is still just luck here, but she tells everyone it's because she has a never-seen-before GPU(& CPU) that does calculations at insane speeds.
Most don't believe her but have no way to disprove her lie.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru
I can't decide if he was built by his father or his grandfather.
Either way, he was built before Toranosuke's downfall, so his internals were all pretty expensive for the time. Luckily for him, that means he was slightly future-proof and has a viable upgrade path.
Unluckily for him, this means he's stuck with really old parts and his 8gb of RAM can barely keep up in a 32gb world sadge
His chassis is built from secondhand or scrap parts. It's why his joints are so ancient in comparison to the rest of him and why he has so much cabling that he can't seem to manage.
Shit chassis = shit airflow = he is always overheating
BUDDY IS YOUR CPU BURNING HOW IS THERE SMOKE
Older tech = LOUD AF. The class bought him new fans to avoid the loud ass whirring. It's not quiet but he used to sound like a jet engine.
He runs on Debian. It was originally going to be Arch since it's lightweight but Debian's whole "old but stable" reputation fits him more. I don't see him properly dealing with bleeding edge software anyways.
His room is filled with past HDDs that no longer have storage. He deems all educational material important so he refuses to delete any lessons. He doesn't have the money for SSDs.
Mukuro Ikusaba:
Is usually in reconnaissance mode, meaning she has a shit ton of hidden cameras in her chassis
This used to benefit Fenrir. Now it benefits Junko.
She can have her parts shifted around with no issue to make room for a better arsenal.
She’s durable in her reconnaissance mode but she’s nigh on untouchable in her combat mode. Her chassis gets 10x bulkier and she can split her attention to several different tasks on the battlefield.
Fenrir Mercenary Group doubles as a weapons company. Mukuro is the only model of her kind though.
They tried to give her reconnaissance model the look of a “normal girl” so she could gather info more efficiently. They failed real bad. They also didn’t account for the fact that Mukuro isn’t good at socializing.
She allocates a CPU core to a process dedicated to Junko. 24/7 365
She believes herself to be less capable of emotion than she actually is. She can’t seem to find the system process that triggers such painful emotions.
Chihiro Fujisaki
Each “fold” in her skirt doubles as a screen. Think of the skirt as having two layers: the top shell and the under shell. The top shell is what doubles as a screen.
Optimized her hardware to work on code as fast as possible (fingers, skirt, etc).
She tends to test out new software on herself regardless of their compatibility with her pre-existing shit. She constantly has to reinstall her OS, but it’s all fun for her.
Speaking of her OS, I was going to make her run on Gentoo but IDK cause of the compile times. It’d be faster if she used distcc but I can’t see her screwing over her classmates like that lol.
So I’m between Nix and Arch.
Insecure about the fact that she overhauled her original model so extensively. Got made fun of for being a ‘defective’ robot. Her father supports her modifications but she still feels bad about having ‘failed’ somehow.
Cue identity issues
She helps out her classmates when it comes to repairs.
Tendency to stay up programming leads to high uptimes. If her friends notice her lagging or crashing, they’ll try to get her to shut down. (In a computer sense lol, not an emotional shut down)
Do y’all remember the xz utils backdoor? Yeah that’s how extensively she combs through code.
Sayaka Maizono
I can’t decide if she was built to be an idol or was originally some other type of robot.
Loves to make kids smile, so she has a sort of candy mechanism in her arm.
Everything about her glows or spins. You will never get bored looking at her.
Her skirt isn’t actually see through I just didn’t feel like erasing the hip joints lmao.
If corpos give her manager enough money, she has to perform with literal ads on her.
State-of-the art facial recognition software. It makes her fans feel special to have their names remembered.
She has a regular sleep cycle due to how load-intensive her everyday life is. Has to shut down for a couple hours every week at least.
Her psychic ability is just her running a million calculations based on people’s behavior and sensing which one is most plausible. This feature is in place to avoid PR disasters during interviews or public appearances.
There really aren’t enough worker’s rights regulations in place for robots.
The company gets alerts whenever she freaks tf out, so she feels even more stifled and repressed. Chihiro helped remove this.
Kyoko Kirigiri
Can’t decide if she was built by her father or grandfather. Probably just built by Jin and he “left” her in Fuhito’s care.
Fuhito made her go through several modifications, hardcoding his own investigative skills into her system.
Her grandfather loves her but has fucked up ideas about her own autonomy.
The events of DR:K still happen. She chose not to replace her hands.
Fuhito doesn’t make much use of a backdoor in her system anymore. He used it a lot more when she was a child but he sees her as a viable heir of the Kirigiri clan now. Chihiro isolated the backdoor to a separate SSD anyhow.
Still complicated father-daughter issues
Everything about her (but her OS) is proprietary, probably commissioned from Towa Industries. Her OS is a fork of Mint. The Windows 7 UI is just because I imagine her grandfather is One of Those lmao.
Has way too many scanners and sensors. She can’t test any evidence herself but she can gather a fair bit of information. Has a vast database for cross-comparison anyways.
Same issues as Togami and Mukuro: sees herself as less capable of emotion than she actually is.
The ramen noodle incident called for actual repairs.
Byakuya Togami
His superiority complex is far worse because he was literally CREATED to be the perfect Togami. You can’t tell him shiiiiiiit.
Gold joints. Scoffs at those with unoptimized cable management or software.
He’s constantly streamlining his own processes. Brings up that he runs on his own OS when Nobody Asked.
Had a similar backdoor to Kyoko’s but Koji did check that one. Obsessively. Nobody would tell Byakuya but He Just Knew. The lack of privacy irritated him. Aloysius helped fix it once Togami finally took over.
Only trusts Aloysius with his repairs. Has a hard time admitting when he needs repairs in the first place so Aloysius hides it under “monthly maintenance”.
Does everything from the terminal even when he 1) shouldn’t and 2) can’t. Bragging rights. He has written a bunch of his own scripts though to speed things up.
Kernel and OS provided to him by Koji. (UNIX-based. Proprietary) Byakuya maintains and builds his own updates. Doesn’t trust cheapskate peasants to do it for him.
Anti-FOSS. For him at least.
Has glasses for the aesthetics. Doesn’t need them.

Plague Ponies Episode 6: "DutyBound"
Shortly after recovering from the plundervine attack, Celestia is readjusting her methods of protecting Equestria...
Content Warnings: blood and violence, body horror, disease mention
Comic Start
Celestia, thinking: What a quiet morning..
As she is lowering the moon and raising the sun for the day, Celestia is startled by the fiery arrival of a letter.
Celestia, thinking: Another letter...
Seeing Twilight's mark on the wax seal, Celestia's expression softens.
Celestia, thinking: Oh, it's from Twilight! Certainly a welcome change of pace...
Twilight's letter reads:
"Dear Princess Celestia,
I have begun preparing Ponyville for mass contagion as you have instructed. Construction of the experimental facilities are nearly complete, and I am gathering information on pre-existing infrastructure historically used in Ponyville in times of health crisis.
Granny Smith has shared with me an account of past protocols used during times of sickness. I intend to continue to work with the insight of everypony here.
We now have confirmation that a majority of Ponyville harbored an early version of the sickness. Although we assume that the wave of magic from The Tree of Harmony cleansed most of the residents...the small amount of remaining infections remain yet unaccounted for.
Participants to undergo observation have been selected, and testing is expected to run smoothly. Will an official statement be made soon? I believe patients may cooperate more readily when presented with more information.
Your faithful student,
Twilight Sparkle"
Celestia lets out a sigh as she finishes reading Twilight's letter. She sends out a pre-written response letter and heads to the throne room. Upon entering, she uses alicorn magic on the throne to reveal a spiral staircase descending far below the castle.
Celestia's reply to Twilight reads: "Dear Twilight Sparkle,
For now, continue as you have done and keep the peace. In the wake of the recent Changeling invasion and the return of The Crystal Empire, keeping the peace is our priority.
I leave the continued care of The Elements of Harmony and The Tree of Harmony to you. I wish your princesshood had started during more peaceful times, but I know you and your friends are well-equipped to handle them.
Yours,
Celestia"
Celestia, thinking: Twilight, at least, can be trusted. What dark times these are, that nopony can be trusted--not even those dearest to us...
Celestia hesitates before entering a lit room at the end of the underground passageway.
Celestia Hello "Luna".
Luna stares up at Celestia from low on the ground. Her front legs and wings are restrained by chains. Black anti-magic crystals grow from her primary horn.
Luna: Sister, you must release me! Think of our subjects!
Celestia: Luna would understand that is precisely why I do this.
Luna: Sister, you are unwell...you cannot continue this way on your own--
Celestia: Silence.
Celestia uses her magic to raise Luna up. It seems to cost her a lot of effort as beads of sweat roll off of her body. She does not notice the dark curls of magic slinking by Luna's legs.
Celestia: I have been the sole guardian of Equestria for a thousand moons. I will not compromise the safety of my ponies. Not even for this. Changeling.
Luna hangs limply in the air, held up by the restraints on her wings.
Luna: It is you who are compromised. Your judgement grows hasty.
Celestia: Enough--
Luna: The gazes of your subjects you so thrived beneath...have become a burden to your addled mind.
Celestia: How dare you...
Before either of the sisters can say more, a letter arrives in a burst of flame.
Celestia: A letter from The Royal Guard...
Sunburst and Moondancer are in a storage closet. There is banging coming from the other side of the door.
Sunburst: I'm sure help is coming soon...we've just got to sit tight and stay calm!
Moondancer: You've said that for the past hour and a half now at least.
A particularly loud "CRACK" startles both ponies.
Moondancer: Can't I get one second to think?
Moondancer leaps to her feet and braces her hooves against the door, lighting her horn. Sunburst watches in both fascination and alarm. There's a flash of light, and a pink bubble now covers the door, blocking out all the noise.
Sunburst, thinking: To think, she'd cast a sustained spell just for some peace and quiet...
Moondancer: I know it's a little excessive...but I really needed a break from the noise. I'm normally on the analytics team so I'm used to...quieter environments.
Sunburst: I don't think any of us are used to hiding in a storage closet during a biohazard breach...but your barrier is definitely helping.
Sunburst: It's funny, we've been in the same project this whole time and I had no idea you were such a skilled spell caster! Silencing spells are so complicated, and this one is so stable--
Moondancer: It's not that hard once you've done it a few times. But um, thanks.
Moondancer awkwardly adjusts her glasses to brush off the praise. Sunburst doesn't really know what to say.
Sunburst: Ah, anyways, Moon Dancer, right? How are you at layering spells?
Moondancer: I've been doing it since I was a filly, why?
Sunburst: How familiar are you with magnetism spells?
Celestia and two Royal Guards are flying to the hospital. The guards are Flash Sentry and Cirrus Cloud.
Celestia: Report!
Flash Sentry: The quarantine zone was overrun at around sunrise. We were forced to lock down the laboratory.
Celestia: "Overrun"?
Flash Sentry: The patients have become...aggressive. All but two of the researchers have been evacuated.
Celestia: Contact with patients must be a last resort. Retrieving the researchers is priority.
They arrive at the hospital and find flashes of light coming from the windows.
Cirrus Cloud: That light...! It must be the researchers. None of the patients are able to use magic in their current state.
Celestia: I will lead. Avoid coming to blows if you can. I would like there to be little harm inflicted here today.
Both guards: Yes, your Majesty!
Celestia looks grim. She is still sweating quite a bit, clearly not at her best.
Celestia, thinking: I should never have entrusted this project to external facilities...I'm sorry for endangering you, my little ponies.
Celestia: Prepare to--what...
Celestia looks up in bewilderment to see the two missing researchers floating in pink bubbles. Sunburst is putting a haggard looking Fancy Pants to sleep.
Moondancer, whispering: Princess!
Sunburst, whispering: Please, ah, watch your step!
Moondancer: We've been putting patients into a magical sleep as we find them.
Celestia: And the two of you are alright?
Moondancer: It's been a strange day in the lab for sure...luckily Sunburst here had the idea to combine bubbles of silence and a gravity reversal spell so we didn't have to stay trapped in a storage closet. Who knows how long it would have taken for us to be discovered!
Sunburst: It wouldn't have been much of a plan if there weren't a spell caster capable of pulling it off!
Moondance: Oh please, this isn't much--Woah!
Moondancer and Sunburst are surprised as something zooms by.
Flash Sentry: Princess, watch out!
Lyra Heartstrings slams into a wall close to everyone. Flash Sentry moves instinctively to shield Celestia. Before anyone else can react, he has a spear pointed at Lyra.
Flash Sentry: Halt! You are charged with unruly flying in the presence of the princess. Put away your wings and come with us quietly...
Lyra Heartstrings: Run!
Flash Sentry looks over his shoulder to see an unrecognizable Fleur De Lis contorting herself through the halls Lyra had just flown from.
Lyra Heartstrings, quietly: Stay silent...she can't see us.
End transcript.

Hypocrisy anon here and I agree completely with your response, especially the tags.
I really hope a p:eg writer writes a fic about a Danganronpa character being plopped into Project Eden's Garden cause I feel like the dichotomy between them and the cast would be so good.
Like I could see the cast seeing Makoto as a complete anomaly with how optimistic he is even compared to Diana. With Hajime I could see many of the characters shunning him with Damon doing so too. Nagito and Kokichi I feel like would be even more wildcards than they were in their own games.
If Eva had been with any other group she either wouldn't have murdered or I think she would've won that Killing Game. The THH and SDR group were like so friendly and trusting of one another that each trial was a gut punch because they knew someone had genuinely betrayed them or felt like they had been backed into a corner into becoming one of the Blackened. (Aside from Celestia who was just straight up trying to win it lol)
I definitely think she would've won the Killing Game for THH if she befriended Naegi and still did her whole "I'm gonna frame someone else" plot. Only because I think Naegi and the others would have had too much faith in her T_T
Hajime had to vote for multiple people he actually liked so I don't think she'd have won SDR's Killing Game, but alternatively she wouldn't have murdered if she had a support group and seeing as the SDR crew were like legit besties even after the Killing Game, I could see her not resorting to murder.
V3 however, idk I feel like she would've lost. She'd have had to tell a lie so convincing that it'd trick the REAL Ultimate Liar, Kokichi Ouma and I just don't see Eva doing that. But I do think she'd bond with other characters in V3 because she wouldn't be the only person with an "unusual" talent. (That, and her ostracizing starts because she's the first to point out the naivety of believing no one would murder. The other crews I feel would've had more people who would've agreed with her openly rather than following some leader. That way she wouldn't be alone in her opinion, which sort of makes her spiral from the jump.)
Like Kirigiri and Byakuya would've agreed with her in THH, I can see Fuyuhiko and Peko backing her up on the whole "we really CAN'T trust people like that..." point, Maki and Shuichi would've also agreed with the idea of it etc...but in Eden's Garden the only person she had was Damon, and Diana agreed but not outwardly and she did just stay quiet for the most part T_T (i love Diana but I feel like Eva had a bit of a point, it's like when you're in a group of friends and they're bullying someone and you point out how they're all being kind of mean, but nothing happens bc you don't do anything personally to distance yourself from that kind of behavior.)
That, and the other crews didn't have a "leader" until like the very end. Sure there was someone to help lead the discussions of the trials, but outside of trials they didn't have someone who dictated what they did or when they did it etc. Like nobody was looking to Naegi or Shuichi or Hajime as leaders to make decisions for everyone. When Wolfgang was like "Just bring any suspicious clues to me next time Desmond" I knew that shit wouldn't fly if it was THH or something (Byakuya would've called him out on it so fast lmao)

The Clockwork Creation
The thunder roared, splitting the night in two, as jagged bolts of lightning illuminated the darkened skies above the lonely Snezhnayan lab. You stood outside the towering building, feeling your heart race with anticipation, knowing what lay within. Your hands trembled as you clutched the edges of your cloak tighter, hoping the cold night air would soothe the anxious energy surging through your veins.
It had been weeks—months, even—since you had seen him last. Il Dottore, the brilliant, enigmatic man you once knew, had withdrawn into his secret laboratory, obsessing over his latest experiment. Letters were few, and each one more cryptic than the last. His mind, once so sharp and full of purpose, seemed to unravel further with every success.
The heavy oak doors of the lab creaked open as if sensing your approach. Stepping inside, you were greeted by the harsh smell of chemicals, the scent burning in your nose. The place was darker than you remembered, the air thicker, suffocating.
You had known Dottore for years, working alongside him in pursuit of knowledge, always fascinated by his mind, his ambition. But something had changed in him. The brilliant scientist you admired had begun to twist under the weight of his obsession, pursuing power and discovery without regard for ethics or consequences.
It all started with one question that spiraled into madness: Could life be recreated?
Dottore had once confided in you his dream to conquer the boundaries of mortality, to shape life from death, to bend nature’s laws. What was once a philosophical debate had transformed into something real, something terrifying.
You swallowed hard, your footsteps echoing through the empty halls as you descended deeper into his workshop. Every corner was filled with the remnants of abandoned experiments—half-constructed automata, strange, ticking contraptions made of metal and sinew, and medical devices whose purpose you dared not imagine.
The sound of whirring gears and clanking metal grew louder as you approached the heart of the laboratory. In the center of the dimly lit room stood a towering figure—Dottore.
His back was turned to you, hunched over a large table littered with surgical tools, tubes, and vials of unknown substances. Sparks flew from the apparatus around him, filling the air with the stench of burning metal. He didn’t notice your presence at first, so consumed was he by the work before him.
“Dottore,” you called out softly, your voice barely audible over the hum of machinery.
He stiffened, then slowly turned to face you. The moment his eyes locked with yours, you knew he was no longer the man you once knew. His sharp red gaze gleamed with a feverish intensity, and a twisted smile tugged at his lips. He looked gaunt, hollow, as if sleep and sanity had long since abandoned him.
“You came,” he said, his voice low, smooth, but tinged with something unsettling. “I knew you couldn’t stay away.”
You took a hesitant step forward, your eyes scanning the room. On the table before him lay the culmination of his work—a creation. A body. It was large, humanoid, though something about it was grotesque in its stillness. The flesh, stitched together in patches, was pale and unnatural. Tubes connected to the figure pulsed with dark liquid, and electrodes attached to its temples sparked occasionally as Dottore worked feverishly on some unseen adjustment.
“What… what have you done?” you whispered, your throat dry as you stared at the lifeless form.
Dottore’s grin widened, his hands twitching with manic excitement. “I’ve done it. I’ve surpassed them all—Celestia, the Archons, the very laws of nature itself. I’ve created life!”
Your stomach churned at his words. “This… this isn’t life, Dottore. This is an abomination.”
His expression darkened, the once playful glint in his eyes replaced by something dangerous. “You don’t understand, do you? You never truly understood the potential. This creation—this being—is more than life. It is perfection, designed by me. It will be the first of many, a new race crafted from the brilliance of science and human ingenuity.”
You shook your head, taking a step back as the horror of it all sank in. “You’re playing with things no one should. This… this thing you’ve made—it’s not natural. You can’t just stitch together parts of the dead and call it life.”
Dottore’s eyes narrowed, and for a moment, you saw a flash of the man he once was. But that moment passed quickly, and the mad scientist was back, his voice dripping with condescension. “Natural? Do you think nature cares for the weak, the fragile? I’ve improved upon it. I’ve made something better. It can’t die, it can’t fail, and it will serve me as no living creature could.”
He moved closer to the table, his hands hovering above the switches and levers of the device connected to the body. The electricity in the room crackled with a strange energy, the tension thick and palpable.
“I invited you here,” Dottore said, his voice softening in an eerie imitation of warmth, “because I wanted you to witness the future. You’ve always understood me, haven’t you? You’ve been by my side for so long. I thought… you might appreciate the genius behind it.”
You stared at him, torn between the loyalty you once felt and the growing horror gnawing at your heart. He had lost himself, his brilliance consumed by ambition and madness.
“This isn’t right,” you whispered, taking another step back. “I can’t… I can’t be part of this.”
Dottore’s smile faltered, the disappointment clear in his eyes. For a brief moment, you saw a flicker of hurt, but it was quickly replaced by the cold, calculating gleam you had come to fear.
“Pity,” he murmured, turning away from you. “I had hoped you would understand. But I suppose it doesn’t matter anymore. When my creation awakens, the world will understand. You will understand.”
With a flourish, Dottore pulled the final lever. The room exploded with light and sound as the machinery roared to life. Lightning arced from the coils overhead, striking the body on the table with violent force. The air buzzed with raw energy as the figure convulsed, its limbs jerking in unnatural movements. The smell of burning flesh filled the room.
You watched in silent horror as the body twitched and spasmed, the once-lifeless form beginning to move with purpose. The creature opened its eyes—dull, glassy orbs staring into the void—and let out a low, guttural groan.
Dottore’s laughter echoed through the chamber, a sound of pure, manic joy. “It lives!” he shouted, his voice trembling with triumph. “I’ve done it! I’ve conquered life itself!”
The creature on the table sat up slowly, its movements stiff and jerky, like a puppet being manipulated by unseen strings. It looked around the room with blank, unfocused eyes, its mouth opening and closing as if trying to form words. But it was clear—this was no miracle of life. This was a mockery of it.
You couldn’t take it anymore. “Dottore, stop this!” you cried, your voice breaking. “This is madness!”
He turned to you, his eyes gleaming with a wild fervor. “Madness? This is brilliance! This is what humanity has been striving for all along. To become gods!”
But as the creature rose from the table, its body shaking with each movement, you saw something flicker in its eyes. Fear. Confusion. Pain. It was no god—it was a broken thing, pieced together by a man who had lost sight of what it meant to truly live.
The creature let out a low, mournful wail, its hands trembling as it looked down at its own patchwork body. For a moment, you thought you saw the smallest spark of humanity in its eyes, a brief glimmer of recognition. And then, it turned to Dottore.
The scientist stepped forward, his arms outstretched in a gesture of welcome. “You are my greatest creation,” he said softly, his voice filled with reverence. “You belong to me.”
But the creature’s face twisted into something dark, something primal. With a sudden, violent movement, it lunged at Dottore, knocking him to the ground. The two figures struggled, the sound of ripping flesh and grinding metal filling the air as Dottore’s creation fought against its maker.
You watched in horror, frozen in place as the scene unfolded. The scientist’s screams echoed through the lab, but there was nothing you could do.
In the end, Dottore’s obsession, his need to control life itself, had destroyed him.
As the creature stood over his broken body, it turned to you. For a brief moment, you thought it might attack, but instead, it simply stared. There was something in its eyes now—an understanding, perhaps. A sad, broken understanding of what it was and what it had been made to be.
And then, without a sound, it turned and lumbered out of the lab, disappearing into the cold night.
You stood there, the wind howling outside, your heart heavy with the weight of what had transpired.
Il Dottore, once the brilliant mind you admired, was gone—consumed by his own creation, a monster of his own making.

Kinda insane that I wrote for every month except June, but! I was bleeding out, and in immense pain so! Yeah! The uterus is gone, so I won’t bleed out anymore, but man was that fucking painful! Pain, Pain Go Away actually is about the pain that I was going through. Thankfully the pain went away the following month~
Now, let’s talk about Wish on Us. The fanfic that I wrote for my bestie about her OC (my godson) and his relatiosnhip with Ace. This whole thing takes place in an AU seperate from the story these two’s relationship develop. Anywho, I love these two alot and I have like two other ideas for these two that I will eventually write. Don’t tell Rogue tho.
Okay, Twisted[x]Hearts, the story that took like a year to get through Heartslabyul Arc, still hasn’t started the next arc, and is on hiatus. Um, know two things: I’m losing intrest in twst (never kingdom hearts), and I’m going to change the format of how I write the fic that will hopefully allow chapters to come out more quickly, and to remove all the rehashing from the game. So! I guess we’ll see that when we see it, huh!
Anywho! Cheers to this year and all the writing it will bring!

I wish starlight had a better redemption arc. lowkey that’s the only reason I hate her outside of her dumbass backstory (I could fix it) and the lack of explanation for her being almost alicorn level gifted. like lemme tweak her backstory a bit:
she was considered exceptionally talented and everyone had high hopes for her to go far in life or could even get into celestia’s school (kinda like twilight) but she was suuuuper attached to sunburst in an unhealthy way (bpd gang rise up) leading to her revolving her entire world and life around him and when he left she completely spiraled and used her powers to keep others around her from leaving. her specialty are memory and mind altering spells since she canonically even after her “redemption” can’t seem to stop revoking other pony’s rights to free will.
she operates on pure natural talent and raw might due to lack of proper training so it was actually really easy to defeat her and send her packing out of her village. her second appearance she came back with the alicorn amulet (the one trixie had in that episode, but it was gone so fast I am ignoring it. that’s such a cool item wasted on one episode?? no) which is how she fucked with alternate the realities.
in a world where friendships and bonds are pretty much building blocks for their society I can see it being probable that pony’s without friends could suffer health wise too. not just mentally but physically. maybe she never got her cutie mark and blames friendship in general for stunting her. she doesn’t hate just twilight, she hates ALL of equestria. every other pony has someone and she has nothing and no one. no friends, no cutie mark, no purpose. just rage.
when she is defeated again, she should have faced actual consequences. send that horse to prison. idk. why did cozy glow get sent to hell. this isn’t about her.
I think a probation period or similar where she has to earn back the right to use her magic while attending the friendship school and amending her crimes would have been good to see. she her earning forgiveness. show her earning her cutie mark! show her apologizing to every pony she hurt and then accepting they won’t like her anyway! I know it’s a kids show and really they can’t do too many heavy topics, but also I hate this horse
Starlight's insane magical power without any amulets or anything bothered me, I like the idea of her getting her hands on it instead of her just being super mega OP. I get it's for the sake of the plot but it's also sort of like...does magic need to be trained? What's the point of magic schools if the average unicorn can learn a teleportation spell rather easily? do you guys ever think about how OP magic gets in the later seasons, regardless-
It felt weird that the way they chose to write her being won over by Twilight is literally forcing her between a rock and a hard place. Either start being nicies or apocalypse time forever, isn't that fun! It makes it even more disingenuous with how little time they spend redeeming her or even having her recognize the impact she's had on those around her (it bothers me the show seems more invested in how Starlight has been hurt by the Our Town debacle than the Our Town ponies). It also doesn't help her backstory is embarrassing...like girl write a letter you can levitate quills some kids have to use their damn mouths!
I disagree with her being locked up, mainly because I think MLP's weird tonal dissonance around incarceration is uh really weird for the neon pony story (seriously. why did they lock the child in tartarus, why did they turn the child to STONE). Rehabilitative justice is a GREAT thing for kids to learn, showing that anyone can change with work, kindness, and friendship (in the show at least lol)! But by not centering who Starlight hurt and just rushing through her actually working to be better, it makes her story lacklustre and half-hearted. At least in my opinion!

Equestria Girls SHC Sorting
Tumblr media
This is part 1 of a 4-part series, since I'll be going through all of the movies. There's already a My Little Pony sorting that you can check out here. I agree with most of them, so I'll be focusing on characters that weren't covered or are exclusive to Equestria Girls, like Sunset, Sci-Twi, and Spike. A basic explanation of the system that I'm using by @wisteria-lodge is here.
Sunset: Badger Lion
Tumblr media
Sunset starts off the movies as a villain, with a Glory Hound Lion primary model and a Bird secondary model. Sunset's obviously jealous of Twilight, because they're foils - they were both students of Princess Celestia. Sunset wanted power (her Glory Hound Lion primary) and became evil, while Twilight became a Princess, something that Sunset wanted all along.
Sunset also has a Bird secondary model, but she's really bad at using it until later in the series. She tries to make plans, but she's too impulsive to have foresight. Her Bird secondary is used to concoct plans like secretly taking photos of Twilight to show how she'd be a bad Fall Formal Princess, and editing photos to make it look like Twilight trashed the gym. Her plans are pretty bad, since she left the real photos on top of a trash can. Sunset's Lion secondary is pretty obvious - she throws the crown that she stole from Twilight through the portal.
Sunset's Badger primary is burned in the first movie - she bullies everyone around her so that she can be powerful. She dehumanizes everyone, and she says that she doesn't know anything about friendship. She uses her understanding of social situations to tear groups of friends apart. Hints of her Badger primary are visible, even when she's a villain. She says that she rules the school because she knows how to fit in. She didn't do anything to hurt her ex-boyfriend after she broke up with him, even though everyone expected her to (She says in the second movie that she never liked Flash. She was just using him to be more popular, but it's still nice that she didn't do anything to hurt him). She refuses to hurt Spike, and says that she's not a monster (which is ironic, since she turns into a demon in the next scene).
She wants to be a Princess more for acceptance than power, even though she doesn't realize that until she unburns. She only starts getting mad at Twilight when everyone starts praising her. When Sunset's a Princess, she focuses on how everyone will be loyal to her.
Twilight: Double Bird
Tumblr media
Twilight has a Badger primary model that explodes as the movies go on. Twilight, just by existing, brings her group of friends together. She constantly talks about groups, primarily her group of friends. She doesn't understand why everyone in high school is divided into cliques, instead of everyone working together. She refuses to go back to Equestria, where all of her true friends are, if it means that the human world will be destroyed. The human world needs her more, so she's okay with staying there forever if it means that she can keep it safe. When Sunset starts crying, Twilight immediately forgives her.
Twilight's Bird secondary is endearingly obvious - the first thing that she does when she's transported to a new world is gather information about it. She finds a library so that she can research.
Spike: Snake Badger
Tumblr media
Spike ran into the portal after Twilight, even though Princess Celestia forbade him from going with her. Everything that Spike does is for Twilight. Spike’s Snake primary is pretty obvious when he tells Twilight to ignore the versions of her friends in the alternate universe, because they aren't Twilight's real friends.
His Badger secondary is something that he uses all the time, mostly to talk Twilight out of anxious spirals. He's definitely more of a Courier Badger than a Bookkeeper Badger, even though he shows elements of both.

El Dorado's History, Morganthe's Backstories, and Kane's Plan
Or, in other words, trying to make all of the scattered bits of canon make sense.
Disclaimer: This is headcanon. Though I try to not directly contradict canon, I do have to fill in the blanks a lot, and sometimes something in canon just blatantly does not work with everything else.
So, let's start at the very beginning.
The creation of the Spiral, and the Titans being put to sleep. The way that the Fire Titan sleeps in Dragonspyre and the Ice Titan hibernates in Grizzleheim, the Storm Titan slumbers in (what is now called) El Dorado. I was inspired by this post by @bowl-of-wyrms. Along with the Tritons, El Dorado was home to many species we see elsewhere in the Spiral, particularly in Celestia, Skull Island, Wizard City, and Lemuria: The Watermoles, Crabs, Sharks, Prawn, other Fishfolk, Troggies (though that's such a distateful sounding name for them, I've decided to rename them the Coqui after the animal of the same name, inspired by a friend who has done the same) and perhaps other peoples based on aquatic & tropical species. Collectively, I'm going to call the people who lived there the Doradans.
Closeby to El Dorado was Celestia, a world and people hand-made by Grandmother Raven to steward the Astral Schools, similar to how she made the Kalamar, Dwarves, Nimbari, and Alphoi in Empyrea to steward Life/Death, Fire/Ice, Myth/Storm, and her Edicts. The reason the Celestians ended up separate from Empyrea was because the Astral Magics (being a triad) couldn't make a Paradox Chain the way the other schools could, so Raven placed the world elsewhere.
I like to think of Celestia as becoming El Dorado's moon, or the two worlds being like a binary system. This is in reference to my other headcanons of how the Spiral works as a physical galaxy (which I should write up and post sometime lmao). In any case, these two worlds are VERY close-knit.
Another world that is closely involved with the two is Azteca. It's a bit more of a 'third wheel' in the system, but there had been the trade of knowledge and craft between Azteca and the other two. Azteca has its own extensive craft of Astral magic (as seen in-game with the spells you can learn from there), and El Dorado contains plenty of Aztecan architecture and stonework (I shall explain my evidence for this headcanon shortly).
Aside from architecture and magic, a third notable craft came from these three worlds coming together: the Golden Organs. The Organs were devised to help one control the Storm Titan if he were to ever wake up again. They channel different aspects of other Schools of magic to help one counter and bind Storm.
The Golden Eye gives its user perfect perception, and draws on the Life school as the force of awareness and existence. Observing everything from the mightiest of forces to the smallest pieces of being. It takes in both information and magic, opening more than just your physical eyes to all that the Song of Creation has to offer.
The Golden Mind gives its user perfect recollection, and draws on the Ice school's tankiness. It works as a magical storage system to contain and withstand all the information that comes through the Eye, protecting its user from overwhelm. (And from that perfect knowledge retention comes heightened intelligence like we see in Kane.)
The Golden Heart gives its user the ability to hold all the mana that the Eye helps you take in, drawing on the Fire school's connotations of passion and energy. In nonliving beings such as clockworks, it would also give them the capacity to feel desires and emotion to the extent that a living person does.
The Golden Hand gives its user the strength and precision to harness all the mana within the Heart, taking inspiration from Death being all about finality and transformation and channeling the fear from oneself to others.
Missing just one of the four Organs when trying to control the Storm Titan can spell disaster for both the entity using them and for the lands around them.
El Dorado's reputation of being home to wondrous magics has existed for just about as long as El Dorado itself has existed. Ages ago, the Golden Hand and Eye were stolen away and lost elsewhere in the Spiral. This thievery spurred the Doradans and Celestians to create the Golden Sentinels to guard the remaining two Organs, which were basically souped up versions of the various Constructs we see in Celestia.
So that's my headcanons on El Dorado. Now onto my Arc 2 thoughts.
In my interpretation, Morganthe grew up in Avalon, raised by her elder brother Malory and mentored by Merle Ambrose. After King Artorious's near-death and transformation into the Pendragon, Merle Ambrose decided to leave Avalon and found Ravenwood Academy & Wizard City. Morganthe was among the first students enrolled.
She also became the first student expelled from Ravenwood after her attempts to practice Astral magic nearly resulted in the destruction of Wizard City. She joined Coleridge's crew and ended up in Khrysalis. After destroying the Radiant Alcazar (the burrowers' own Star magic temple) she, Coleridge, and the crew landed on the new North side of Khrysalis, where the Arachna were quick to take her in. They helped her master Sun magic in the Solar Arc, but couldn't help her with Moon and Star. She also began to earn the title of Shadow Queen here, as the Arachna recognized her potential and were willing to build her up as theirs.
Thus began Morganthe's warpath. She started in Zafaria, claiming it as a base of operations (which is how I'm interpreting the whole "Zafaria was once her home" comment that Avalon seems to otherwise immediately retcon) and trying to bully her way into learning its Star magic. She gained a sizable following from each of the four nations, though lost the Deck of Shadows that the Arachna gave her in a fight against the newly founded Council of Light.
Embittered by her loss not just in the new Star magic she had just gotten from Zafaria but also the Sun magic from the Solar Arc, Morganthe decides she must go big or go home. So she goes big, marshalling the new Morgantine Army against Celestia, the divine center of Astral magic. The Army is made of Shadow Weavers from the Arachna, some of her Zafarian followers, and the undead she pulled from Celestia's own graves.
This is where El Dorado and Morganthe overlap. The Celestians and Doradans summon the Storm Titan to try and turn the tide (ha) against the Morgantine Army. However, only having the Heart and Mind was their downfall. Without the Eye, they couldn't take in all of the power that Storm had. Without the Hand, they couldn't control what power the Heart was able to absorb and store.
The Storm Titan ended up permanently flooding Celestia, knocking Celestia & El Dorado off of their regular orbits, and even chipping some pieces of El Dorado to scatter into the Spiral. One group of chunks became its own world: Skull Island, where we see remains of Doradan and Aztecan society today in its scattered ruins.
As for Morganthe, she failed to go big so she had no choice but to go home. Back to Khrysalis, where she finally relented and admitted that she couldn't grasp Astral magic yet. It was always far too slippery. She needed something stronger. She needed to actually use Shadow. Becoming the Shadow Queen not just in title, but in ability. It was the only avenue she could see left, the last option presented to her.
Oh and because Lemuria has had me in a chokehold for the past 2.5 years and will continue to strangle me for years after, it's only a few years after the Storm Titan's destruction (also known among the surviving Doradans both on El Dorado & flooded Celestia as "The Great Storm") that Stallion Quartermane leads the Old One to Celestia. The Old One took a fragment of what little dry land already remained and some of the Watermoles & Sharkfolk for Lemuria (whose descendants we see there today), swooping in as some benevolent savior that they oh so desperately needed after they just suffered a mass-extinction event and the loss of a LOT of their people and creations to the flood.
And now this headcanon history jumps some 1500 years later, when Marco Pollo creates the map to El Dorado. He and his crew make the journey there, and Gazpaccio manages to snag the Golden Heart and Mind, though not without angering the Golden Sentinels that the ancient Doradans and Celestians had made after the first thievery.
Gazpaccio puts the Golden Mind to use, creating Kane to help him get a leg back up in society after his former financial allies, the Tortellini family, kicked him to the curb. When the Polarian War breaks out, Gazpaccio released Kane to the King and Queen of Valencia as a mechanical master of strategy that could halt Napoleguin in his tracks.
There's a funny interaction that happens in the background that nobody is really aware of. Out of the four major Spiral Powers--that being Marleybone, Monquista, Valencia, and Polaris--the lattest is the most magical. It is home to the Auroracle (ancient spirit able to give prophetic messages to those who ask it), the Luphilim (guardians of the Auroracle and other divine sites in the Spiral) , and the majority of Borealis Gemstones (the purest chunks of the First World). I'm of the headcanon that Napoleguin became such a threat to the Spiral Powers because he dared to integrate magic into politics and war. He became essentially a battlemage general, similar to Grand General Spitfire perhaps.
And Kane just so happens to be made of an artifact designed to help one control uncontrollable magic. The Golden Mind's more ancient programming kicks in, giving him the drive to rein in magic. First he establishes the Armada to break Napoleguin's army. Next, he encourages the Valencian royalty to include a term in the post-war peace treaty, that magic shall not be involved in international politics. This treaty later expands to the Armada outlawing all magic.
The Golden Mind's anti-magic programming kicking in also activates another ancient piece of code it has: seeking the other Golden Organs. This is what drives Kane to seek El Dorado, to complete the set. He doesn't know where the other Organs are, but is certain that they, schematics for building them, or clues as to their whereabouts, are in El Dorado. And thus, canon Pirate101 (Arc 1) plays out.
also yea this means that Kane destroying the Golden Heart is stupid and just Does Not Work with this headcanon. I am fully of the belief that the Heart had to be destroyed just so it wouldn't stay an unresolved plotpoint as the writers had to desperately tie the plot up in Valencia Part 2. That isn't to say that Kane in this AU would want to immediately install the Heart. Having a potentially-infinite store of magic without having the tool necessary to channel it (i.e., the Golden Hand) may only cause him difficulties. He would hesitate to install it until he had the Hand.
As for Pirate Arc 1's end, with the Machine taking the Golden Mind and Queen revealing herself to be alive?
That's a story for another time.

2024 Luna redesign
Tumblr media
First image of my new Luna redesign, showcasing her cutie mark and how she appears during the new moon.
Design thoughts:
Her cutie mark has a silver outline. There is a dreamcatcher in the circle created by the crescent moon, and the pattern makes a sun shape to symbolize that Luna is also capable of raising the sun, though it takes more effort. Her wings are based on the giant condor that likely inspired the mythical thunderbird. She is very good at creating thunder and lightning.
Not sure how visible it is on this version of Luna, but the spirals on her horn wind in the opposite direction compared to the other alicorns(and unicorns) in my new redesigns. This is a rare trait that approximately 1 in 10,000 horned equines exhibit. In the past, it was thought to be an omen of bad luck...
Tumblr media
Second image, showcasing how her appearance changes throughout the lunar cycle. (the full file was too big for tumblr, so you'll have to go to my dA if you want to see a higher resolution)
Design thoughts:
Her hair changes color from the roots outward, while her dapples and wings change from her cutie mark outwards. Her hooves change from front to back. The galaxies in her hair are still present in the full moon coloration, just much less opaque.
Her magic is not affected by the lunar cycle, just her appearance... and perhaps her personality according to other ponies...
Now to start on Celestia, who has her own cycle, and then a 2024 alicorn lineup with certain design thoughts I've been saving.

The stars decorated the night skies like jewels, shimmering in the darkness. The moon had finally reached its peak, its silvery light shining down at the ponies below- awake and buzzing with energy despite the late hours.
The summer night was warm and alive, with droves of ponies arriving in Canterlot for its main event. Golden banners and ribbons decorated every corner of the city, and foals laughed and ran about with streamers and sparklers while the adults dressed their best made their way uptown, towards the castle itself, talking with friends all the while.
A night of celebration was upon them, and they gathered at the castle gate to be greeted by its splendor. Decorated to its fullest, and lit up by magic spells and candles, the castle entrance was enchanting.
Three doors were upon the double sided staircases that curved into the walkway, and nestled oddly in there were three tall mirrors that shone with a strange magic- cascading the light like water on the ground.
As ponies and creatures from all across Equestria gathered and settled there, music suddenly filled the yard- brass and regal. It caught everyone's attention, with ears perked up as the sound swelled and danced in the air before it fell like a feather- softer now.
With one glance up, ponies exclaimed in excitement as they saw their queen emerge- regal and as magical as always. Her white coat shone in the candle light, and her half braided mane flowed softly- Queen Celestia smiled at the large crowd, lilac eyes glimmering. Then beside her emerged a more reserved alicorn- her dark blue coat looking like the night itself stood there. In a gossamer dress of white with dark blue armor around her shoulder and neck, Queen Luna stood dutifully- watching over the crowd.
The music gave one last big hurrah before it drifted off, the crowd cheering for their monarchs. And it was with the wave of one golden hoof from Celestia, that the crowd simmered down and let the ambiance of the night take over- though the air held its breath, waiting for her to speak.
Tumblr media
“  Welcome my little ponies! We give a warm welcome to the creatures of Equestria that have traveled here tonight. We appreciate each and every one of you who has come here tonight- for We come to celebrate the longest day of the year, and more importantly- We celebrate the reunion of Queen Luna and I. For a thousand long years We were apart, but now we can look forward to making up for lost time and spend longer together- as sisters.  ”
Celestia and Luna share a look, and the younger alicorn melts into a smile. Celestia matches the smile, and they cross their horns for a brief moment before she continues on.
“  Before we properly get started, there is no doubt that you have noticed some changes,  “  she acknowledges, waving a wing down to the ground below her to where the mysterious mirrors stand,  “  Not only has Equestria become more united than ever- thanks to Princess Twilight and her friends -but we wanted to extend our hoof further in friendship to worlds beyond our own.  ”
This causes ponies to glance at one another- whispers rising around the crowd before all goes silent once more.
“  Through magic and these ancient portals, we have invited a few from other worlds to join us in our celebration- and to show them what Equestria has achieved. We ask that you all put your best hoof forward and show them that through friendship, anything can be achieved. ”
Celestia raises her wings, and Luna follows. Their spiraling horns shine with a brilliant light of gold and blue, and all three mirrors hum and start to glow white. After a tense moment, something steps out  ….

this is a 100% slash gen question but how do you stay motivated to keep playing genshin after this long? i first got it back when it was still pretty new, around the second ever banner, and played it for a good year but the more things they kept adding the more overwhelmed it started to make me. i do miss it tho, so i wonder how you manage to still play it so consistantly
In all honesty for most of my time playing genshin i've been obsessed with a handful of early game characters (kaeya and his ugly brother and childe mostly, and they're still my faves) and largely didn't give a shit about everyone else, so up until like halfway through sumeru i was playing like. Waiting for kaeya/abyss and khaenri'ah related lores to drop mostly. Like in all honesty especially during inazuma it was dire i didn't give a shit about 90% of the cast and the environment was unpleasant to explore too 🧍‍♂️ but after getting past the samsara part of the sumeru archon quest i started getting genuinely more invested in the storyline. When i got to fontaine i expected it to be a bit of a filler region honestly but the writing quality has been steadily increasing after inazuma imo and the conflicts have become more engaging too... Like i think the main issue for me in inazuma was that they kept trying to get me to give a shit about some npc whereas several of the playable characters felt underutilized and their presence kinda pointless. From sumeru onwards they've started writing the playable cast as more fleshed out and interconnected to one another which is something that i was really missing from early game, and this is even more apparent in fontaine's writing too where everyone has some kind of beef going on with everyone else (it was really fun imo how everyone in mondstadt knows each other because it's a small town and i wasn't really hoping to see that degree of characters being all up in each other's business again in later regions so fontaine was a nice surprise in that regard).
As for your question honestly i think that. In order for genshin to be enjoyable at some point you have to allow yourself to not give a shit about whatever doesn't compel you and instead try to focus on what you do like, for example i kinda hate doing spiral abyss so I don't really touch it unless I'm pressed for primos and instead run around and explore a lot. For story quests i prioritize ones for characters I'm already invested in and leave others for whenever I don't have anything better to do. I'm an insane completionist about this game but it's genuinely fine to focus on the parts you personally find more engaging. I guess sumeru was annoying because long as fuck world quests gate the exploration of certain areas, but fontaine is MUCH better in that regard and the world quests feel much more manageable.
Also tbh i think the increasing relevance that khaenri'ah/abyss and celestia-related stuff has both in the world quests and in the main story along with more harbingers making on screen appearances also contributed to keeping my interest active because that's what I'm mostly invested in other than kaeya-centric stuff 👍

With a deep and exhausted sigh, Shining Armour slowly nodded, and gestured to Celestia to continue, whereafter she explained that Starlight managed to extract the magic from the crystals, and focused it into another crystal, which they fashioned into a pendant; but at that moment, as Nox hid Star's pendant under her paw, she added that after it was stored in a chest, she was chosen to protect it.
Since Lady Cadance was still too embittered, she struggled to think clearly, whereas Shining Armour merely slowly scanned Nox and Star, and started to figure out for what purpose they had created the pendant; but although Nox felt a chill run down her back when she realised Lord Shining was looking at her, she quietly let out a sigh of relief when Shining nodded, and asked her what they did next.
To this, Nox replied that she joined the other three Princesses, as well as Starlight and Sunburst, and headed to the fields around the Empire, where they spent some time looking for a tuned crystal; but this turned out to be both more rewarding and more challenging than what they had expected, for many of the crystals they found were not pure, and drained the magic and energy of any who held it.
As Nox glanced to Starlight and Sunburst, upon whose faces bright blushes had started to grow after she mentioned how rewarding their search had been, she added that their Unicorn friends had found a way to carry the crystals without touching them; for the magic shields in which these crystals were sealed prevented any direct contact, at least until they could be safely placed down in the Palace.
However, when they found what they were looking for, they had to be especially careful, as the pure crystal, as small as it was, managed to prevent any magic from entering its aura over a significant distance; but since Nox's Dragon-wings were not affected, she flew back to the Palace with the pure crystal in her paw, and waited for the others to return with the remaining pile of impure crystals.
When Nox mentioned the impure crystals, Light sighed, and put their head in their hooves, and tried to focus their mind elsewhere, as they preferred to avoid thinking about how the fragments of these crystals nearly caused their end; but Lady Cadance loudly cleared her throat to wake them up, which Light was relieved to hear, to their own surprise, as it snapped them out of their downward spiral.
After Light thanked Cadance, and lied that they were just tired after a long day and night, she did not utter a word as she turned back to Nox, and silently waited for her to continue, appearing only to grow more impatient as time went on; so after Nox nervously nodded to Lady Cadance, she admitted that she returned to the Royal Archives, from whence she took the cursed book Sunburst had created.
Not only did Nox slowly sink to the ground as she chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of her head, but when faced with Cadance's intense gaze, it felt as if the floor underneath her itself gave way; and from nearly under the table, without mentioning a name other than her own, Nox quietly told the Royals that they managed to take the curse from the book, with which they infused all the crystals.
Eventually, when the opportunity arose, and neither Lord Shining nor Lady Cadance were nearby, they brought all the cursed crystals to the Upper Hall, while she flew high into the sky with the chest; and when she gave the signal, as she dove down, the others let go of the cursed crystals, which all shattered on impact, defiling the area around the Heart, which caused every present Guard to faint.
As Shining Armour grew concerned over possible corruption of the Heart, he immediately asked Nox if there were still any fragments that bore the curse scattered around, to which Nox briefly shook her head, with her eyes wide open in sheer terror; but Shining did not understand what was wrong, until he noticed that Lady Cadance was staring right through Nox, furious about everything she mentioned.
He knew that Cadance's hostility would bring them nowhere, so he gently led her away, and said:
"Come, my dearest, you are unwell."

The Fallen Angels: An Analysis of the Traveler Twins
Oh look
A Genshin Impact analysis
This goes under that “1 AM Epiphany” category
No, seriously. I went on a mental spiral about this at 1 AM.
But let’s get to it before this gets too long.
As the title suggests, I propose that the Traveler twins’ story arcs (whether intentional or not) seem to have similarities with the Christian fallen angels.
Lemme explain.
In the very beginning of the story, when we see the flashback of The Sustainer of Heavenly Principles fighting the twins, we see that both of them have wings.
And if you look back, they aren’t just one pair of wings with three segments. No. They are three separate pairs of wings. Six wings in total. Now what other Christian figure has six wings? The Seraphim. A powerful group of angels. And we do know that the twins are powerful, but we don’t actually know the extent of their power if it were to be fully restored. So it really raises some questions, the main one being: are they supposed to be angels of some sort?
It makes sense, at least thematically, if that were the case.
But why do I call them “fallen”? Simple.
When they lose their powers, their wings disappear, which is also a common thing with fallen angels. When an angel falls from heaven, their wings are taken away. And with the Sustainer serving as a heavenly being, the fact that she blatantly stole their powers and sent them hurtling down from Celestia is as obvious a comparison as any to falling angels.
On top of that, The Abyss twin’s arc is strangely reminiscent of the backstory of Lucifer (at least from what I know).
Think about it. The Abyss Twin is not only cast out, but clearly holds a form of rage against Celestia just as Lucifer felt wronged by God. The Abyss Twin also goes on to amass legions of creatures also scorned by the heavens and regarded as evil by the common people. And that Abyss Twin then goes on to be regarded as evil themselves (at least by the common people).
You see what I’m saying?
It’s quite fascinating in my opinion, especially since Genshin is no stranger to Christian references (they’re literally using the Ars Goetia like a baby name book for their archons-)
Though while the arc of the Abyss Twin has clear parallels, I’m not so sure about the Traveler.
They seem to be oscillating between the opposing forces. They’re clearly framed as a hero, but as pointed out time and time again by the Genshin community, they’re becoming more and more jaded. So I wonder if they’re “caught in the middle” in a sense. The Traveler learns about Teyvat through a biased perspective (the bias coming from Celestia and their whims, of course, since they exert power over Teyvat through the archons and Visions…and the occasional giant nail of destruction, apparently)
Whereas the Abyss Twin goes through the world with the perspective of the Abyss (the closest equivalent of Hell).
If things keep going the way they’re going in Genshin, then this may mean that the Traveler’s arc is a slow descent, as is the case with fallen angels.
Another small thing to point out is that the twins are intrinsically connected to light. Lumine’s name means light, and Aether’s name means “sky” or “heavens”. And Lucifer’s name literally means “light bringer” (yay more parallels). Plus the Traveler can purify things (such as Dvalin’s tears) just by touching them. They really aren’t being subtle about it.
Now, since I’m still stuck trying to level up characters and enhance weapons and get better artifacts, and haven’t even started Liyue’s archon quest, this is all the evidence and knowledge I have that doesn’t involve me spoiling myself. So, if I make another part to this to add new thoughts based on new information, don’t be surprised.
In any case, I swear by this analysis, and if you liked it, feel free to like and comment. Discussion is more than welcome!
Anyways, hope you enjoyed this, and stay tuned for the next theory/thought/character analysis/1 AM Epiphany
