You had gotten injured on a mission and had a pretty nasty, deep cut on your thigh.

Not to worry, Donnie’s first-aid in on the way. So there you were in his lab as Donnie observed the cut through his goggles.

“Yeah, that’s gonna need stitches…”

Your stomach dropped, your horror evident as you squeezed your boyfriends hand. “Stitches?…with, like, a needle? No way!”

Leo

“What? Are you scared?~” Leo teased (fucking idiot), laughing a little bit.

“No! I am-” Your stomach flipped and your breathing hitched as Donnie pulled out a special needle and thread from his kit, images of it piercing your skin filled your mind. “Oh god…I can’t do it.”

“Relax! You’re in good hands!“ You looked up at Leo horrified at his words, before both turning to look at Donnie. “Hey! I’ll have you know-“

“Shhhhh! Y/N, really, you’ll be fiiine just calm down bro!” Leo patted your back. Obviously, this was not helpful. First of all, being told to calm down NEVER soothes anybody, and second he called you ‘bro.’

“Mm-mm. No! No way! Look, it’s-“ you hissed in pain as you gripped your leg to cover your wound, “…fine.”

“Not really, Y/N…” Donnie sighed, threading the needle.

“Yeah! What if it gets infected and we have to like, amputate your leg?” You knew Leo was trying to help, but he really wasn’t. Why the hell would he say that anyway? (fucking idiot)

“No, please! I can’t!” You squirmed trying to get up, desperate.

Leo lightly grabbed your shoulders, trying to gently lay you down on the table, “Relaaaax. I know you’re scared, but I’ll be right here the whole time, I swear. Besides, I’m sure Donnie is gonna numb it or whatever, right?”

Your breathing was extremely uneasy tears spilling from your eyes. “No! Stop.”

Leo grabbed your hand again, squeezing it. “Come on, Donnie, isn’t there anything else you can do?”

Donatello sighed, rubbing his temple. “ I suppose…we could try to just patch it up with some gauze, but I’m not sure it-“

“Great! Then bust out that gauze.” Leo rubbed the back of your hand with his thumb.

He didn’t really show it, but he was extremely worried and did feel a little guilty for not taking you seriously at first. He hated seeing you so distressed because he didn’t really know what to do.

Raph

“Why not?” Raph looked at Donnie and then down at you, he didn’t really understand.

“I just can’t, Raph, please.” You squeezed his hand tightly, your chest was tight and your face went pale at even the thought of having a needle in your arm.

“He has to Y/N, you’re hurt. Tell em’, Donnie.” Raph nudged Donnie and he sighed, a little frustrated.

“Well, Y/N…it could get seriously infected if you

don’t-“ Donnie began to thread the needle.

You began to squirm, trying to get up but Raph gently squeezed your shoulder with his free hand to keep you down, his face wrinkling in concern. “No! I-…I can’t! Stop, please!”

“It’s ok, Y/N. Raph’s right here, no one’s gonna make you.” Raph couldn’t stand to see you so afraid. “Donnie, can’t you just like, put a band-aid on it?”

To which his younger brother raised an eyebrow, a little annoyed, “No, Raphael, I can’t just ‘slap a band-aid on it.’ …but I suppose I could patch it up with some gauze and medical tape.”

“Awesome! See, Y/N, you have nothing to be afraid of.” Raph smiled down at you, trying to be reassuring. He didn’t completely understand, but he did know he wasn’t going to just let you be distraught if there was another solution.

Mikey

“Don’t worry, Donnie’ll take care of you. He’s the best in the business, baby!” Mikey beamed, not realizing what you meant. Donnie smirked at his brothers compliment, nodding a small ‘mhm.’

“No! Really, it’s ok! It’ll, ah! Heal just fine..” You looked down at your leg, the stinging, throbbing pain still surging through it.

“Nuh uh! Come on, Y/N. You’ll be fine!” Michael rubbed your back as Donnie dug through the first-aid kit and pulling out, in your opinion, an un-fairly sized needle and some thread.

You felt undeniably terrified in that moment at the image of being stitched up and having a needle pulled through your skin over and over. The color left your face, your adrenaline rushing. “No! I said no! Mikey, please!”

Mikey frowned, feeling your terror with you. “Uh, Dee…maybe you should just patch them up with some bandage.”

Donnie looked between both of you, before shaking his head, “Alright.”

“Good! No needles. You’re ok, Y/N. I’m right beside you.” Mikey smiled in his usual optimistic way and he put his arm completely around you, but was definitely still saddened. He’d never seen you so frightened before, even when you were attacked to be put in this situation in the first place. He made a mental note of this event for future reference.

Donnie

“Why not?” Donnie furrowed his brows, pushing up his goggles with his free hand, squeezing your hand back in his other one.

“Please. There has to be something else you can do.” You looked at him pleadingly, and he narrowed his eyes, thinking for a second.

“…I don’t know, Y/N. It would be a lot safer to just do stitches. For example, it could get infected, or scar, or-“ He began to thread the needle, tying the end.

“No! Donnie, don’t!” You thrashed around, trying to hastily get up, the pain in your leg worsening at the pressure.

“Y/N, hold still!” Donatello grabbed your arm gently to hold you from standing up. He didn’t comprehend how deep your fear was. “I know it’s scary, just hold on-“

“No! Stop! Get it away from me, I can’t!” You struggled, kicking your feet and tightly gripping his arm. Tears formed in your eyes, your breathing quickening.

Donnie pulled back, dropping the needle back into the kit. He wasn’t expecting that reaction, his eyes softening into concern as he finally realized your genuine terror.

He sighed, a little frustrated but trying to be understanding, “Ok. Alright, how about just some bandage and gauze? Is that ok?”

You nodded, still a little anxious as your hands shook slightly. “Sorry, Donnie…”

“Don’t apologize.” He gently and carefully wrapped the bandage around your leg. He definitely didn’t show it properly, but he did feel bad. He didn’t mean to scare you and if he had known, he wouldn’t have even suggested it. It bothered him to hear how genuinely afraid you were. He would just have to remember for next time, but hopefully there wouldn’t be a next time.

It was the 27th of December, and you and your boyfriend, Raphael, was unwinding in your bedroom. After several days of Christmas food and family gatherings, it was nice to just relax in your room, doing nothing but cuddling and watching whatever memes Raph found on his phone. Just taking all the time you need to get yourselves together, before finally packing all the Christmas decorations down. The cold New York City air right outside your bedroom, and feeling warmed under the blanket that laid across the two of you.

You sighed in content, feeling Raph’s arm tighten around you as your finger moved to feel his plastron through his shirt. You and Raphael hadn’t been together for a long time. You first met each other back in August when he started at your high school, shortly after he and his brothers saved New York and the rest of the world from Superfly. It took less than a day for him to ask you if you wanted to go to the prom with him, and of course you said yes. That night you shared your first kiss, and the rest is history, all leading up to you and Raphael spending Christmas together.

At one point you unwillingly moved from the bed, feeling the pressure on your bladder sending you to the toilet. Once your pajamas covered legs hit the air outside of the blanket, you shivered, reaching out for Raphael’s flannel on the chair, so you could wrap it around you.

On your way back from the bathroom, you stopped mid step in your doorway, your eyes watching the sight of something on top of your doorframe. A mistletoe. A left over from this year's Christmas celebrations. It had been there all December, bearing witness to many of yours and Raph’s kisses. It had almost become a tradition that month leading up to Christmas Eve, that whenever Raph would come into your run, you’ll have to share a kiss underneath the mistletoe. But after Christmas, that novel little tradition had sort of whistled away. You didn’t blame either you or Raph for that. Christmas was over and New Year was coming up. None of you had looked at the mistletoe after Christmas Eve and thought that the rules still applied.

A mischievous smile appeared on your lips as a realization hit you; nowhere did it say that the rules of the mistletoe didn’t apply outside of December. At least not any place you could remember.

“Raphie”, you said, causing the mutant turtle in your bed to look up from his phone.

“Yes, Shawty?”, he asked, putting his phone down beside him.

“Do you mind coming over here for a minute?”, you asked.

Raph pulled the blanket back and stood up from your bed, before walking closer to the doorway. Here you carefully placed your hands on his arms, and pulled him closer to you. He was about to ask you what was wrong, until he noticed your gaze looking upwards for less than a second. He raised a brow and looked up, seeing the familiar branch over your door. He let his head fall back and let out a warm hearty laugh, that made you smile even brighter.

“It’s not even Christmas anymore”, Raph laughed as you tugged him closer to the mistletoe.

“So what?”, you laughed. “Last time I checked there was no expiration dates on mistletoe rules”.

“So you want to keep them up all their?”, Raph asked. He could not deny how adorable he found the whole thing. You tugging at his arm and shirt, hoping to get him into the doorframe with you.

“If that means extra kisses, then yes”, you answered.

“(Y/N)”, Raph said, holding onto your arms as he leaned in close to you, trying to fake a serious expression and fight back a smile. Yet it kept creeping up, to the point where the two of you were chuckling and giggling together. “I will always kiss you, no matter where, no matter when. With or without a mistletoe, I will always kiss you”, he spoke through laughs.

“So”, you smiled. “Is that a yes to kiss me under the mistletoe?”

“Of course it is”, Raph smiled, holding your face in his hands. “Like I said; no matter when, no matter where”. And with those words Raph pulled your faces close, locking his lips with yours in a sweet kiss. You hummed in delight, sneaking your arms around his neck. Raph smiled against your lips, letting his hands move from your face and down to your waist under his flannel you were still wearing, holding you close against him. As the two of you pulled from the kiss, you leaned your foreheads together, looking into each other’s eyes with a smile.

“Merry late Christmas, Raphie”, you smiled at him, giving him yet another peck on the lips.

“Merry late Christmas, (Y/N)”,  he said, pulling you even closer, his hand sneaking further up your back under the flannel. “Now, you may be cute in my flannel, but I want it back. It’s cold outside the blanket!”

I know Leo is your favorite. I am curious what’s your opinion on Raph?

I love him! I actually love all the guys pretty much equally, it's just that I love Leo a tiny bit more.

The thing about Raph, though, is in some of the iterations he is reduced down to a base "angry guy" personality; and I prefer it when the writers tell us why he is angry, and show more aspects of who he is.

For example, the "why" being, as Splinter put it in my story "Something Wicked", when Raph got angry and punches things after... well, that's a spoiler:

"I am sorry if someone has hurt you in their anger," he said, placing his touch on the teen's arm. "But I swear to you that Raphael would never do so. He is first and foremost a protector, and he believes at this moment that he has failed in that charge. Would you feel any different, if one person you loved was missing, and two others unwell?"

He wants to protect people; that is his primary personality trait, not "angry guy". That is doubtless why he became Nightwatcher in the 2007 movie. It wasn't because he wanted to go out there bashing heads in (that was just a bonus), it was because he wanted to protect people, and when Leo left they stopped doing that. Interestingly, the things that Leo found distasteful about the Nightwatcher were very much the same things that Leo himself was doing in the jungle in South America, but it seems that Raph was actually more conscious of not killing anyone in the process (you can't tell me that Leo let that guy in the Jeep actually live... not with that blood-curdling scream).

But, yeah, Raph and Leo are actually very much alike in that they are protectors of others, except that Leo goes about it very differently. The jungle example notwithstanding, in most versions Leo is the big brother that goes to his younger sibling's bullies and gives them a calm warning; Raph is the big brother that goes to his younger sibling's bullies and pushes them against the wall and tells them to back the hell off or deal with him... then he goes home and smacks the younger sibling across the head.

He can be very soft when he wants to be, though, so those soft moments have much more of an impact. Like in Tales Of Leo in 2k3, when he was the only one to cry when he told his story; or in both Bayverse and MM when he confessed his love for his brothers when he thought they were all going to die; or how well he got along with little Yoshi in TMNT 3; or when, in the 2007 movie, he told Splinter about Leo getting taken; or in Batman Vs. TMNT when he lectured Batman about the importance of family. But one of the most heart-wrenching moments had to be in Same As It Never Was when he was dying and used his last ounces of strength to crawl to Leo's side.

And as I said, I love it when his other interests are put on display. Like when he is shown knitting and carving in Bayverse, or working on his bike in 2k3, or playing video games with the guys in whatever iteration. In the future world of the TMNT Archie run, he is shown to be married and runs a restaurant where he is the chef. And though it is not an interest, knowing that he is afraid of insects makes him seem more down-to-earth and less of just the tough turtle.

Some of his "traits", I must admit, are simply headcanons to me. Because of his protective nature, I like to think of him as a gifted medic (albeit one whose bedside manner could use some working on), whose medical knowledge is second only to Don's. Also, I picture him being able to speak Spanish, which he learned by hanging out with people in the Bronx (also where he picked up his distinct-in-the-family accent). Both of those things, again, I wrote into "Something Wicked", which even has a whole chapter about Raph called "The Protector".

So, yeah, I think Raph is awesome! I just wish we could see more of it onscreen, you know? I am really looking forward to how Tales Of The TMNT utilizes him!

Oml when he meets you along with April, he’s both worried and excited

Floods of nervousness kept pricking at him as the boys questioned April, his eyes moving towards you. 

When you kept glancing towards him, his worries only increased.

Was he doing something wrong? Was he being too weird? 

Turns out, you were just curious as to why he was hiding behind everyone else. 

Initially, your loudness and bluntness surprised and scared the boys. What could they do? 

But Leo was drawn to you, no matter how loud you got. 

You and Raph quickly bonded over your shared love of working out and excessive violence.

Any mission was a mixture of yelling and confusion among the rest of the boys while you and Raph took care of business.

Leo’s crush on you, however? Massive.  

You thought the comments on his brief crush on April was excessive? They’ve reached a new threshold here.

Multiple comments of: “Leo’s got no rizz” and “Wanna try that again?” 

Before the ultimate battle with Superfly however, something quite interesting happened. You let out a different side. 

As you both travelled towards your probable imminent death, you nudged him. 

“Hey, Leo. Can I tell you something?

“What? Oh, yeah totally. What is it?” he said, surprised you weren’t boisterous for once. 

“I actually think Leon Ardo is a better name. Might take it someday.” 

Leo’s face looked confused, and also slightly flattered. His heart started to race, and his cheeks felt warm. 

“Oh! Uh, thanks. That means a lot.”

“Feelings mutual. You’re doing great.” 

After the battle with Superfly, it was certainly a shock. 

Debris scattered everywhere, people cheering and screaming, and blood. Everywhere. 

Thankfully, you had a great support system in the form of Splinter and your parents. Also screamo karaoke. 

At school, you both were constantly divided. The loudmouth, and the teacher’s pet. 

But that didn’t stop you. And it didn’t stop you from taking him to prom. 

Raph: 

Instant connection. Like immediately. 

Both of you supportively screaming and yelling while working out was a bonding activity for both of you. 

You got along with his brothers moderately well, more thankful that you could balance him out. 

Anytime you had goons for interrogation, it was instantaneous for you, information spilling out like water out of a jug. 

“What’s wrong with your face?” “It’s always like this.” 

As you got to know the boys, you slowly let loose. Your previous intimidating facade was quickly melted by your sweet compliments. 

Every plan that was made, your thoughts slipped between your lips without fail. They refer to it as “brutal criticism” 

Eventually, you and Raph grew extremely close

That’s when Raph realised he had a thing for you. 

Anytime he tried to draft up a confession, your resting face would discourage him 

He actually confessed on the battlefield, when he thought you died

Did it over your unconscious body and everything

Imagine his surprise when you opened your eyes, and when you confessed as well.

Donnie: 

You know his anime brain? He immediately compares you to those femme fatale characters. 

Daki, Revy, even Asuka. All of those characters he saw in you.

Your loudness and bluntness were viewed through a rose-tinted glass

Yet, he was petrified of you. 

Only at first though

Mostly because it looks like you could break him with just your knuckle

After, he slowly started warming up to you

He legitimately put you on a pedestal when he heard you mention Attack on Titan for the first time

Soulbonded after that.

He kept brainstorming workout plans for you

Most nights composed of you looking up anime character workout plans 

During the fights with Superfly and other mutants, you kept decimating through enemies

Raph was secretly fanboying, while Donnie?

Oh boy, he was floored. 

After that mission, he kept analysing if you liked him back or not. 

This is how you noticed the way he acted around you. 

It shifted, changed. 

He seemed embarrassed whenever you watched him listen to K-POP

Or anime, even though it was a shared interest between the two of you. 

Before the fight with Superfly, you lightly confronted him

Which, of course, led to him rambling-confessing to you. 

You swore that you felt the same, but to make it semi-official after the fight.

Now, the two of you are known as the brute hackers, the culprits of who exactly is hacking the school’s gradebook and editing grades. 

Mikey:

Oooh. If I could describe your relationship in its early stages 

Very much golden retriever and guard dog energy

Even though you kept responding with snarky comments, you’d always indulge in his questions about the human world

Anytime you had your resting face on, he’d try to cheer you up

Even if you were just staring at a wall

He always runs jokes by you before telling them

It was hard adjusting to school life, but you had Mikey by your side

Out of all the Turtles, Raph being with a human feels weird, the other Turtles I’m fine with being with humans. Raph has always been known to date non human characters so this ship doesn’t look/sit right to me, and doesn’t feel like a relationship that would go anywhere.

I CAME BACK FROM THE MOVIE LIKE AN HOUR OR SO AGO- AND HOLLY CRAP- Here is some stuff I will say and I'll give my review at the end.

I love how to movie doesn't waste time and immediately jumps straight into action and also the backstory of it's soon to be main villain.

The designs are really nice I like them a lot. They are nice to look at. Maybe for some it might take a while to get used to but their decent at best.

I enjoy that right when we are introduced to the turtles they don't waste time showing their personalities.

This movie's angst inspiration definetelly came from the fandom lmao

like bro they just threw a bunch of angst in there.

Speaking of angst, I like how they immediately establish how much the turtles genuinely wanna be accepted into humanity and how they don't hold back on making sad scenes.

I don't mind Leo's crush. It's cute and I like how it's depicted. It's not that focused on which I don't really mind. I don't know where I sit with MM Aprilnardo, I'll wait until the series drops or we get a sequel and see what happens. If nothing happens between the two then I guess I won't be too hard into it. Unless maybe we see April and Leo both sharing feelings or something. Though if April politely rejects him I'll leave it at that. Again I still don't know where to sit with this ship.

Splinter is cool and funny. Also- we don't talk about that scene with him and scumbug-

The backstory for the characters is sad and I like how you can genuinely sympathize with them and it's not forced or anything.

I-I-I-I-I-I had to look away at the Puke scenes and the make out scene- Yeah I did get second hand embarrassment with this movie-

I love how the movie's style is that of 87 and take more inspiration from the 87 version though to me the personalities for the characters were a mixture of rise and 2012 with some inclusion of 87 as well.

I actually watched this movie in my language not the english one. Sadly I didn't record any of the scenes so I can't show it to ya'll. :( Mainly cause I assumed it wasn't allowed to be recorded.

Shocked I didn't cry at certain scenes-

I enjoy that each character shines in his own way and all of them manage to do so.

Don't lay a finger on Leo... I will bite your legs off...

Sadly me and my papa didn't stay until the cliffhanger but I watched it on YouTube though.

The animation kind of seems messy but I do feel like it's something a little kid would design and considering this is a kids movie and all it's understandable. Though it gives us a lot of funny expressions xp

Story is unique, fight scenes really fun and amazing, the ending felt deserved and overall I enjoyed it.

Now, I know Superfly is a villain and all but if I'm gonna be honest- He didn't deserve death. I wish he got a redemption arc. He's just a broken villain who I ended up sympathizing and understanding. Yeah he wasn't doing the right thing but can you blame him?

Off topic but what gender is Leatherhead-? I kind of got confused ngl lmao

So in my opinion, it's either 8.5 or a 9/10. Mainly because there are some cringey scenes that I did cringe at and ngl I feel like certain scenes's pace was kind of a bit too fast. I don't know really-

He prefers when Leo is really serious and calm, Raph a hot head and constantly wanting to smash things, Donnie being calm and smart and Mikey- Mikey he didn't mind since he said he is always stupid and a dumbass- (not really his words but close enough-)

He found the story not to be that really consistent and also the animation to him wasn't fluid. He didn't think it was the best or that good.

The story is interesting to him and unique and all though.

He pretty much grew on the 87 and OG comics. He kind of also probably had to deal with watching with me and my bro the TMNTs we grew up with. If anyone's curious, my bro grew up on the 2003 and kind of also 2012 since we both binged watched it a lot every time we came back home from school meanwhile I grew up on the 2012 but also in a way with 2003. Mainly since I have a few memories of seeing some episodes of it so I know some stuff.

Anyway- his score is a 6/10 for the movie and he says that is a VERY generous score.

I realized my outfit looked similar to April's- Just- it had different colors and- I'm white as fu- Loved April a lot in this movie by the way.

I watched it with 3D glasses.

They were also selling masks of the TMNT. I only saw Raph, Mikey and Donnie but not Leo. I didn't buy one by the way-

Casey Jones Fucking Dies: Chapter 4

idk how but im pumping these out like, daily. idk what's gonna happen in the next chapter tho. tbh most of this chapter was made up as i wrote it

There was a second face, a distorted one, staring back at him, a few feet behind him. The face resembled a skeleton and the figure had a greenish glow similar to the one around the white haze. Raph whipped around and without hesitation, threw a punch towards the figure. He only realized it wasn't there when his fist hit the wall, making him cry out in pain. Just a few short seconds later, all three of Raph's brother were on the other side of the door.

"Raph are you okay?" Leo asked?

"What happened?" Donnie questioned

"Uhh, I'm fine! Just, uh, tripped!" Raph said, trying his best to sound casual.

Leo made an unsatisfied noise, but he and Donnie both left. But Raph saw Mikey's shadow creep underneath the door. "Mikey I can see your shadow, what do you want?" Raph grumbled, not really wanting to talk to his any of his brothers, but knowing it was the only way to get Mikey to leave.

"You sure you're okay, bro?" Mikey asked in a rather small voice. 

"For the last time, I'm fine Mikey!" Raph snarled.

"Okay..." Mikey sighed. A few seconds later Mikey's footsteps could be heard walking away. Now with all his brothers gone, Raph could bring his mind back to what he saw. What did he see? The image of that face flashed in his mind. He wasn't sure he really wanted to know, but he also had a feeling he would find out either way.

The next day, Raph was paired with April for patrol, much to Donnie's disliking. Raph didn't exactly like it either. He didn't like hanging around April. Knowing how she felt about Casey's death, and knowing she didn't know who the murderer was. Yet here they both were, patrolling through the sewers, looking for whatever destroyed one of Donnie's cameras. It was probably just a stupid rat anyways (no offense to Master Splinter).

"So," april began, "uh, how's your day going?" she asked, trying to make polite conversation.

The question caught Raph off guard, he wasn't exactly one for small talk, it's not like he got much practice considering he grew up in the sewers. "Uh, good, I guess" he replied hesitantly. He kind of knew how he should respond, after having seen people partake in small talk on TV. 

"Mm." she hummed in reply. The turtle didn't know how to take that. People on TV usually started talking about stuff happening in their life, right? But what would he tell her? Had to think of something. Think of something.

"Uh so how are you feeling with your friend's death?" he blurted out. 'Why the fuck would i ask that?' he scolded himself mentally. April inhaled deeply before exhaling slowly, letting her shoulders drop. Raph could tell he struck a nerve. But before he could retract the statement, she replied.

"I just," she began, "miss him. So, so, much." Her voice began to crack as her eyes teared up. Raphael felt like he was about to scream. He was in no way, a sentimental type. He wasn't good with emotions, not even his own.

"Mm, I'm... sorry. For your loss." he mumbled, cautious not to make April cry.

"Thanks, Raph." she responded after a moment. Thankfully, before any more words could be said, the turtle's T-phone rang. He pulled it out of his belt, answering the call.

"Hey Raph, we found out what broke the security camera. Turns out it was just some stupid rat. You and April can come on back now." his brother Donnie said, his voice crackling through the phone.

"Ok, sounds good, we'll start walking back" Raph commented. And with that, April and Raph started the walk back to his home.

Later that day, right before training, Raph couldn't find one of his sai, again. He checked on the shelves, in the drawers of his bedside table, and even under his bed. He just had it earlier today too. He was about to start looking underneath the rug in his room at this point, when his older brother, Leo peeked through the door frame.

"Wow, still having trouble finding your sai, huh?" he pondered.

"I swear I just had it! I bet this is some dumb prank by Mikey." Raph yelled, already prepared to defend himself. By this point, Leo was leaning on the doorway staring at his nails, for the sake of making Raph mad.

"Well, you better find it quick, Master Splinter won't like you being late because you lost your weapon again." Leo remarked, grazing over Raph's small outburst. And with that, he left, leaving Raph alone in his room, frantically searching for his sai. He swiftly check the shelves again; and he checked the drawers in his bedside table again. He looked under his bed again, and found his weapon lying there. Right there. But he had already checked there! He swears he had already checked there. 

Whatever the matter, he decided to grab it and rush over to the dojo so as to avoid being any more late than he probably already was.

Several hours passed, and with that, training was over for the day. As he and his brothers walked out of the dojo, April was already sitting on the couch, presumably waiting for them to finish. Upon hearing them leave the dojo she turned around to face them.

"Hi guys!" she perked up at the sight of them.

"Hi April! Hope you're not tired from the walk here, cause I spotted something on some of the security cams, I think we should check it out." Donnie mentioned.

"What'd you see Don?" Mikey questioned. Raph began to space out around this time, only really hearing something along the lines of 'let's go to the lab' so he absentmindedly complied and started walking towards the lab. While spacing out he began to think about the face he saw in the mirror yesterday. A hand on his shoulder snapped him out of his thoughts. He turned around to see it was april.

"Hey Raph, can I talk to you real quick?" she inquired politely, flashing a small smile. Raph really didn't want to talk to her, but thought that if he told her no it would only make him more suspicious.

"Uh, yeah sure." he answered. He tried to avoid eye contact, not wanting to seem engaged in the conversation.

"It's just that," she started, "You've been acting kind of weird lately. Mikey said that a few days ago you were acting weird while in the sewers placing the cameras, and Leo mentioned that you've been really forgetful with your sais. Is something going on?"

Raph took that all in. So his brothers really had noticed his weird behavior. And even worse, they told April. "Ugh, I'm fine." Raph stated. He didn't want to say anything more than that. He just wanted April to leave him alone. 

"Are you sure? The past few weeks, you've been acting kind of weird. And your vibe has been kind of... off. Not bad just, off" she questioned.

"I'm fine, seriously April." Raph sternly replied. 

"Hmm, okay." April muttered, walking past him into the lab. Raph followed her into the lab. once behind Donnie who was sitting at his desk, what April said finally processed. what did she mean off?

OKAY IM GONNA TALK ABOUT TMNT MM NOW

WARNING FOR SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT!!! THIS IS A RAMBLE POST, I AINT TIPTOEING AROUND IT!!!

Also, probably gonna start making # for post types. I feel like I reblog so much stuff that it's hard to find my actual content-

Starting off the bat, everyone who said Rise lovers were gonna love MM were absolutely correct. I adored this movie with every fiber of my being and I really think it could bring new people into the TMNT fandom just as ROTTMNT did.

While I will always be sad that Rise did not get the merch it deserved, I am over the moon that MM is getting it. The toys I've seen and merch I've gotten are already extraordinary. For the most part they are very very well made and most of it doesn't look like they've seen their entire family be brutally ripped limb from limb.

But moving away from my opinions about merch which is a whole other bag of worms being the physical item lover I am. THE MOVIE WAS BEAUTIFUL!!!

The storyline, the characters, the voice acting, the line delivery, the writing, the comedy, and ofc most of all

THE ART!! OMG THE ART!!! I LOVED EVERY SINGLE BIT!!! I see so much dragging on the art of this movie because it's ugly BUT THATS THE WHOLE POINT!!! It's meant to be messy, asymmetrical, even uncomfortable at times. Every character is so vastly different from the last, including every single background character. Some of my favorite overall designs were Splinter, April, Stockman, Superfly, Mondo Gecko, and even that fuckin BEAST Superfly turned into at the end.

This was the first iteration I watched where Splinter started out as a rat, being only into the more modern media, I had no idea that he was originally a pet. I could go on and on about MM Splinter and that is what I am going to do. I LOVED HIM. SO MUCH. He was such a dad, and an absolute badass when he wanted to be. Kicking ass to save his sons and just worried out of his mind about them. Despite his distain for humans, he was willing to take their help when it was offered. Instead of reprimanding his sons right then and there, he'd give them a hug and make sure they were safe beforehand. And when he saved them from getting their blood taken (I'm not calling it milking, please don't make me omg- /lh), he was like "I told you so!" but not in like.. a toxic way?? I never thought Splinter would end up as my favorite of any iteration, yet... here we are.

But y'all probably aren't all that interested in my gushing about Splinter yeah? Let's talk about the turtles, going from my favorite to least favorite (not to say I don't absolutely love them all, I just like some more than others.)

Raphael and Donnie are tied, but I'll start with just Raph. Raphael very much reminded me of when I was younger. Down to the struggled with volume & um... well, anger issues. Deep down, he loves and cares about his brothers, but he wants to branch out and meet new people. It's not that he doesn't want them to be there when he dies, it's that he wants to know other people outside of them. He loves them, but it's only natural to not want to ONLY have them.

Donatello was a silly guy, lots of playful jabs at his brothers and I just loved him. Also, the guy can DRIVE. Technically, being old enough, most places I know you can get a learners permit, so he probably realistically could drive. Despite complaining about having a "giant stick" much like 2012 Donnie, I found myself less annoyed by his complaints. Maybe I'm bias? Who knows. Point is, I loved him.

Leonardo, like Raph, was extremely relatable. With his upbringing and having a very anxious father, it makes sense to have such chronic anxiety. I swear, sometimes I feel like a mix between MM Leo and MM Raph. While ofc, I wasn't a fan of the little crush on April, it's not unrealistic. This is the first girl they've met and he has dreams of getting a girlfriend, obviously a 15 year old like that is gonna fall head over heels for the first girl he sees. Hell, when I first found out girls could like girls I honestly wasn't much different. (Ofc, I'm not a girl anymore, but that's besides the point here). But April shutting him down at prom was a relief, I'm hoping it just stays as a little puppy crush. It was handled SO much better than 2012 ever did, and I'm standing by that.

Now Michelangelo. Mikey was the SWEETEST OMG. Him and Mondo were an adorable duo and I'm hoping in future content we get more of them. Also, what is with Mikey and almost getting hit with cars in this film? I think the mans needs to keep away from the streets because he's like the critters down here in Kansas, very bad luck with cars. Only reason he's probably my least fav here is because I guess I don't have much to say about him, like, specifically?

Anyways. That's a lot of rambling, someone please talk to me about MM.

So I’m studying the boys and at first I was just “They really are leaning into this whole teen thing, huh” but then I thought back to every memory I have of my brothers and how they interacted and was just like- OH

OH WAIT

THIS IS ACCURATE

🤣 The bacon and egg scene- literally my brothers in a nutshell. The constant quotes and references- a little on the nose, but accurate.

BUT I SPENT

THE ENTIRE MOVIE

Waiting to see which turtle would spike my patented they need some hurt/comfort and at first I was leaning towards Leo- BUT THEN WHEN THAT BUS/TRUCK (I forget exactly what it was) FLEW STRAIGHT AT DONNIE AND MIKEY’S WATCHING IN HORROR AND DONNIE IS STUMBLING AND HURT AND OBLIVIOUS AND LOOKS ONLY HALF PRESENT-

Hands down. That got me.

I has a favorite and he’s so innocent and bright-eyed and deserves injury and kidnapping. I will make this happen.

The boys as a family were so fluffy and vibrant and relatable.

The boys as individuals…?

Leo has personality and concerns and attachments and a crush and flaws and strengths and he just felt like an person.

The rest seemed kinda… Plain. Raph had the anger thing going for him, but I have a hard time distinguishing Mikey’s and Donnie’s personalities. Mikey was friendly and liked improve, but that was never really touched on at all. In battle or otherwise- Donnie was the one who was thinking fast and taking the lead when talking to the Superfly. And Donnie was the one who Leo described as the best with people.

I’m not exactly sure what Mikey had going for him…

Donnie isn’t much of a techie, other than his headphones and phone, which is only used casually. He can drive and read comics, but that’s not really an abnormal teen thing. Like, any of his brothers couldn’t have driven using game skills? Or come up with a comic/movie solution to defeat Superfly?

That’s more nitpicks than anything tho. I might have missed things as well- it’s only my first watch. You shouldn’t make any firm decisions or judgements based on a first meeting. Hopefully, I’ll spot differences between them later on or they’ll flush out the characters more in the series.

They pushed a LOT into this movie. Everything was happening all at once. Like, they didn’t skip a BEAT when shifting from evil mutants trying to kill the boys to TCRI is locking them up.

And what the heck did Leo expect April to do?? SHE WAS ON A HIGHWAY BRIDGE?? DID HE EXPECT HER TO JUMP DOWN- SHE’S COMMENTED ON HOW CRAZY THEIR ROOFTOP TRAVEL IS! What makes him think she can do that??? 🤣🤣

At the very least she had to bike around and off the bridge to do anything, and he would have been unconscious by then. Boi just like “she abandoned us 🥺” when she could have been trying to help them while they were being loaded before going to get Splinter.

All hypothetical, of course. Would make for a good OneShot tho.

I like how the April betrayal was just a “I guess I was wrong” type of disappointment and not some dramatic heartbreak, because that feels more realistic to me. Relieved the crush wasn’t played off for laughs and all the brothers seemed disappointed.

April was such a good teen. They never played her off as anything but a normal person who didn’t have quite the right amount of self-preservation. Probably where the journalism comes in.

She was also a good representation that you don’t need green skin to not fit in. Life is hard, man, and I hope the series explores that even tho people don’t scream when they see them, that doesn’t mean life will be any less difficult. School is still prey grounds and people are still predators .

The parallel between Splinter and Superfly was interesting. Felt a tiny bit forced at the end there, but I can respect it. Can’t dictate a fam’s every choice. That’s not fair. Gotta let your fam be free to grow and make their own mistakes and create their own morals~

I have a couple other thoughts, but I want to formulate them a bit more. See if I can make stuff off of them.

i'll start with the TMNT stuff first because of your PFP, but we gonna be here a while.

In WIBE, one of the characters we meet is Yuichi Usagi, who works at the human ROTM. He also works in the original ROTM. He was robbed while on a trip to the Hidden City, and is originally from a different city entirely. Hueso is doing his best to help him out, but it'll likely be a long time before Yuichi gets to go home.

Some other WIBE background characters in WIBE include: MM!Kendra, MM!Robyn O'Neil, MM!Irma, & MM!Casey Jones. I don't have a lot to say abt Kendra and Irma, since it's been a long time since I wrote any of it down, but I can give it my best shot with Robyn and Casey.

Robyn has been diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety disorder for a few years pre-fic. She's in her first year of college which is out-of-state, and does her best to check up on her family via phone call at least every other week. She's also sort of invested in all of April's new drama, but she won't admit it.

Casey's been playing hockey for as long as he can remember, and intends to keep at it for as long as he's physically able. He's also got a knack for engineering, and I'd gamble that sometime not long after the ending of WIBE, he'd start up the Casey Jones vigilante batshittery. His parents are divorced, but he spends most of his time with his Jewish mother, and while he's never been actually taught much about his religion he accepts it as a part of his identity, and if people don't like that then they shouldn't be around him in the first place. He finds the existence of the turtles to be one of the coolest things ever, but after actually getting to know Raph and the others, it doesn't impress him as much as it used to. (If I had time, I'd add in a tiny crush on Raph, but I'm an aro with WAY too many ideas for this tiny fic)

Then there's experienced fighters, where the main thing is me ALWAYS knowing what song is playing in the background. I really love how much music is in MM, and I love being able to say hey! here's the musical vibes of the environment!

sort of on that topic, i've got a hc that any song with even small references to space are songs that rise, 2k12, and MM leo are more likely to enjoy. they don't realize these patterns, but they sure are there.

and to end off the music rant, one of these days i'm gonna make a playlist of songs that I think the rise crew all collectively agree are good enough (this is what space feels like, goodie bag, punk tactics, etc. etc.)

there's also two in one, which is based off an au by @blackfire-fanfiction. I have to be real cautious abt what I put in there, because a lot of people are looking at it instead of the extended context of the real thing, not to mention how many Thoughts that aren't really canon I have about it. For instance: today I had a good 30 minute daydreaming session abt the concept of rise!Donnie reading leonardo's notebook while he's comatose post-rise movie and finding out about the switching

in dimension desync, I poke a bit at my head canons about peni parker's movie universe and her mental health at home, and have expanded on this even further in an abandoned draft. this is going to be LONG, so here we go: Gwen Stacy and Richard Parker were around in Peni's universe before she herself was, each piloting a mech of their own [Ven#m and Sp//DR]. A few months after Peni's mother is pregnant with her, Richard dies in action, and a few months later, Ven#m sort of devours Gwen (go read the comics because it's really fucked up but idk how to describe it) So then the role of SP//DR is forcefully thrust upon Peni at the age of eleven, and her connection with SP//DR isn't exactly... perfect.

in my team blue universe, I'm fleshing the hell out of Sam-13 and Shadowcat (both from earth 65). Sam was created by corrupt parts of SHIELD (that have yet to have been identified as corrupt) but now is just a regular agent. OHMIGOSH so i saw mutant mayhem two days ago, on its official opening here in the US

it was really really good and i loved it so much and ugh i could rant about it for ages. so here's a nearly 2000 word rant about it. sorry for any spelling and grammar errors

so first of all, lemme talk about the characters real quick. my favorite character continues to be donnie but all of them were really likeable in this one, and the dynamic the turtles had is amazing.

mm!leo was a very very good version of leo, staying relatively close to older versions of leo but having some of the more fun traits that leo has had recently in tmnt media (for example, he was willing to do some things with his brothers, even if they went against splinter. even if he felt bad about it.) he was funny and cool, really bringing it all together. nicolas cantu (that how you spell his name? idk) did a great job as his voice as well, he pretty much perfectly illustrated all the emotions he needed to for leo throughout the whole movie. the only thing i didn't like about leo was the fact that he had a crush on april, but that's mostly a me thing because i've never been a fan of the turtle x april ships, they're just uncomfortable for me. they played it off pretty well though.

mm!mikey was really enjoyable for a character who is generally a little bit hit-or-miss for his moments. it was really a hit for all of the times he was on screen or talked which i'm very glad about. i a little wish that the movie focused even more on mikey, but maybe the series/sequel will. he was funny and not nearly as gross as some previous iterations were (ahem 2012) and it was just a really fun time with him. he was pretty much the best parts of all of my favorite versions of mikey all put in one. shamon brown jr also did an amazing job with him!!!!! he's a really good voice actor and he was pretty much perfect for mikey. and yeah, one thing i think they could've done better is just giving him more screen time and focus i think?

mm!raph was really great. you could tell that he was definitely raph but he wasn't super aggressive or hard to talk to. he was funny and there were plenty of moments that made me laugh with him. even though the movie didn't go terribly far into all the characters, you could tell that he definitely has a soft spot for his brothers and for splinter as well. seeing him as a turtle tot was amazing as well by the way, he looked like a cinderblock. and yeah, you bet i gotta bring up brady noon, who was amazing for raph. (really, casting all teenagers for the teenage mutant ninja turtles was a great casting choice on all levels.) even though he was this kinda aggressive guy, you can tell that he has dreams and he has people he cares about. it was really great to see for raph.

and of course i gotta talk about my favorite little guy. mm!donnie was SOO GOOd and like my favorite from the whole movie, he was really fussing great. his design is so good just because they really incorporated the tech stuff into his design, and the stickers on his bō were a nice touch. one thing i wish they would've shown more of is stuff that donnie made himself, y'know? donnie's original tech is usually kinda pushed to the front in tmnt which is great, i love seeing donnie tech. but the main thing donnie did in this movie is fight with his regular bō and use his phone and drive a car or something? i hope we get to see his tech in the future. also, micah abbey did such an amazing job at him@!!1 i mean i really enjoyed how he had a higher voice which is NORMAL for teenage boys, like people's voices change at different rates. he sounded great!! i am sad we didn't get to see more scooter action with him though

april i sure have thoughts about. i mean the thoughts are all positive. she was such a good april and an amazing addition to the cast. first of all, i am strong supporter in her design. sure am a big fan of the non-white aprils. a lot of fans didn't like her design for whatever reason?? some of them didn't like that she's not white and others had issues with her body shape, which is stupid. she's a teenage human, there's no reason to give her the "perfect" adult woman's body (in their eyes anyway) when she's meant to just kinda be this a little average but nonetheless badass ally to the turtles. her personality was great, she felt like a real teenager. her arc of getting (mostly) over her camera sensitivity was really nice, and i appreciate that she wasn't totally over it by the end. ayo edebiri was a really great cast for her as well. (also, i'm glad that even though she agreed to go to prom with leo, it seems like she still sees him purely platonically. i will NOT stand for another 2012 donnie and april situation.)

anyway, splinter, amiright? it's interesting how they went with the route that he was originally a rat. he was a really good character and one of my favorite versions of splinter now. he really was just trying to be a good father to these turtles in this weird little family situation, and i can't blame him for being so overprotective of them when he was made to be a monster in times square by mrbeast. jackie chan was a great choice to play him. (i don't support what jackie chan did to his daughter though btw.) the fact that he learned martial arts through old tapes, new movies and fussing youtube (a video of a channel i watch was in it by the way????) is amazing.

okay now all the other characters were really cool too. all the mutants that baxter stockman created were really interesting and it's great how they brought back so many existing characters while adding new ones. bebop and rocksteady were actually funny which i don't really expect from bebop and rocksteady most of the time to be honest. superfly was actually really scary for being this kids movie villain, which i guess isn't very surprising for tmnt. he got away with kinda a surprising amount of swearing for it though, a whole lot of instances of "damn" and stuff. mondo gecko was very fun and i was actually a bit scared when mikey found his tail. cynthia utrom didn't play as big a part in this movie as i expected her to but she will definitely be a bigger part in the future, especially considering that she's obviously meant to be an utrom. (and oh my god that end scene??? but i'll get into that later) i sure was a big fan of superfly's family turning on him for the benefit of humanity (and the chance of living with the turtles and splinter.) the voice cast was great for all the side characters. i think it's really cool that the main cast (as in the turtles and april) were all voiced by younger, less well-known actors while the side cast and villains were all played by the much better-known actors.

anyway onto the art, IT WAS AMAZING AAAAHHH as an artist this was on fussing spider-verse levels of art and animation. it looked like teenagers helped design it, which is what they were going for. the movement looked great and SOO natural, aahh!! the fight choreo was amazing too, there was that one scene where they were trying to find info about superfly was so well put together. there really were a few stand-out moments but all of it was so good. i love it when the ninja turtles actually use their weapons as they should be, which has happened in the past but it was so clear that they did their research here. also i'm glad that jeff rowe and seth rogen said that they ensured that the animators weren't being mistreated or overworked.

anywho, the music amiright? the soundtrack being based on NYC-based rap and hip hop was a really great choice. that one song that goes "can i kick it, yes you can" was a great choice for the main title-y thing of that movie. it hit all the places it needed to.

some other notes i wanna bring up:

the stakes were real my guys. at multiple points, i felt such genuine fear for these fictional mutant turtles in my heart i thought i would have a stroke or something. for example, when cynthia just kept shocking them??? are they not aware of the damage that like father like son did to ninja turtles fans???? also when superfly just had them in his hands and you could HEAR their shells crunching a little bit. UGH that hurt me fr. it felt so so real and it was so so good.

the fact that the cardboard cutouts that splinter acquired were chris hemsworth, chris pine and chris pratt lmao

are any of the characters autistic? i was thinking about this and to be honest i think yes, some of them probably are autistic. but it's not as clear as it is in rise, especially with donnie, y'know?

about the pop culture references and memes that they used didn't actually feel dated or cringe to me. i've heard others complaining about that but it didn't bother me much, it felt how teenagers actually talk. (i'm a teenager btw, i'm pretty used to how we talk.)

making leo have a crush on a girl after rise!leo lmao

but speaking of leo having a crush on april, there is more i wanna say. so i do not ship them, i've never shipped any of the turtles with april. it just don't sit right with me. but i think they still have the opportunity to play it off with elegance and grace, by having april straight up refuse him when he's honest with her about how he feels. hoping that will happen at some point. i've been asked to dances and stuff by friends, i hope that's why april said yes to him asking her to prom at the end. i will find seth rogen if they put leo and april together in the end. (for legal reasons this is a joke.) but yeah.

and the end scene???? oh god what do you guys gonna think shredder's gonna be like in mm???? because as much as i like the pretty goofy side of shredder that we've seen in the past (like '87 shredder was so silly compared to 2012 or god forbid rise shredder), i would love to see a really just horrifying version of shredder that they would actually maybe kill off in the end? and then there's another sequel where leo has to grapple with his own conflicted feelings about killing shredder or something. that would be so real lmao

i'm really looking forward to the future of mutant mayhem, even though i still want more rise!! and also we must keep showing support for the wga/sag-aftra strike, even though it's gonna delay production on the next parts of the series.

it was a great movie though and a great use of one hour and thirty nine minutes.

I've watched bits and pieces of 2012 because it was on TV at the time, but seriously? Nope. I plan to, but not right now. And I didn't like 2012 at the time but it's growing on me a LOT from TikTok clips. I plan to watch 2012, the bayverse movies(I know they're bad, that's why I wanna watch em), 2003 and maybe 87. I'm skipping that other live action one(I think it's the 90s?) Bc it freaks me out. I wanna see MM but not for a while, I can already tell it's gonna suck me into a deep hyperfixation state. But in general I just hate when characters are clones of each other so that's why I was so attracted to rottmnt as an animation. I actually had a lot of trouble watching 2012 bc they look the same to me. In fact, before I saw rottmnt I actually didnt know the difference between "the blue and purple ones". Now of course I see the slight differences in 12, but I still hate the blockiness of their bodies. And hate the apritello. It's painful after rottmnts family stuff and I just never liked apritello.

As for my favorite turtle, that's actually a really hard question. I like them all a lot. But I probably like Donnie or Mikey most, and Raph least. Not that I don't like raph. I adore him he's a sweetie pie. But I like the others just marginally more than him. I dunno, I like snark. They all have more snark than him. He's too nice for me to love as much as the rest. That says some things about me I don't wanna get into though. I do read fics of all of them(separately), including him, but I read his stuff least. As much as I respect Mikeys maturity, he's a child to me. And Raph is just, large and sweet. Don't get me wrong I like that, but sarcasm really reels me in. I just like the twin more than Raph. They're fun, they're smart, they're more humanlike, they feel more 3d to me.

I immediately wanted to say I like Donnie most, I relate to him the most as an autistic person and in general. I like purple, I like science, I like cute but mean things. I dislike familial physical affection and it's hard for me to be fazed at events that I should. But I also really like Mikey a lot, and Leo was the one that got me watching rottmnt. I liked how his animation looks and I've read fics before I even watched the series, and then I liked Donnie more than him as I watched it. So Donnie is gonna have to be my favorite, but the rest matter a lot to me too
