Yo! I'm Soon To Be Taking a Break From Sword & Scale (for a tiny little bit)
I am just about caught up to what I have done so far for S&S (one more page and it looks fire y'all), and I'm thinking about taking a bit of a break. I’ve got some commissions I need to work on, and I want to do some writing too (there’s another chapter for Good Intentions that’s been percolating for months and its stupid and cute and I need to make people cringe by throwing it at them). There’s also work stuff and my birthday coming up so I'm going to be busy again— mostly I’m just really bad with feeling like there are too many things on my plate, no matter how pressing or not-so-pressing they are. Just feels like clutter is drowning me, y’know? Anyway. I just thought I'd declare it so I could feel less pressure while I do recuperate. But no fear, said break shouldn't be too long. Maybe a week, at most. And Tumblr will update with the next little 'segment' first (if not more slowly since my stockpile has been depleted and I don’t fancy dancing with burnout) as always. In the meant time I just want to say I've been astoundingly touched by y'all's support and kindness. Thanks so much! It's been making me smile everyday, and has definitely been encouraging me, even when I feel like I’m about ready to toss my stylus at a wall and embrace insanity. Also maybe I'll drop a few sketches from Arboren's mermaid design phase and stuff in the interim. They’re gross and also bad, but I’d love to revisit some of them (I always say I’m going to revisit stuff and never do, but who knows? Maybe one day it’ll stick. That’s what happened with comic making, and look at me, a wee baby fledgling with so much to improve on, but I am here, doing the thing! As I said I would. Just took time.)

Sometimes I think it's just scary to open up like that. To say how you really feel. Especially to people you care about the most. Because what if... what if they don't like the truth? // Sometimes people don’t really say what they’re really thinking. But, you capture the right moment… it says more. // I didn't say it. // You didn't have to.

one of my favorite things about zedaph is that on a server full of people that find strange and oft-overlooked minecraft mechanics or rare events and then see just how far they can push them in the name of spectacle or efficiency or world-breaking, zed is over here finding these mechanics in order to do the weirdest things he can think of in as entertaining a manner as possible
like i 100% have faith in zedaph's theoretical ability to be just as efficient or spectacular or world-breaking. if he wanted to do that stuff, i trust that he absolutely could. but thats so far from being his priority. instead, hes going to spend around a week of irl time focused entirely on eventually having the good luck to spawn in something insanely rare so that he can convert it into something even rarer, the result of which being something that 99% of the server reacts with complete and utter shock that it even exists in the first place, just because its zany and funny and he wanted to. and i love that

Oooo starstruck dee has little stars at the bottom of her feet! Are they just aesthetic or would they make imprints into the ground? (like pawprints)
exactly like that! though she's not the only one...
edit: might need to add some additional dialogue to this to make it more clear, but a clarification in the interim; he knows about his own footprints. he's just surprised to see something similar already there when he knows he's only just landed. he lifts his own shoe to confirm that they're not identical (and also to reveal this to the viewer). seems his stoicism beat off the clarity in this one, sorry 😭

Guys, I'm literally begging you to not make me the "Um, actually" guy right now.
Atlantis is not and has never been a real actual city.
There is literally no historical or anthropological evidence that it ever existed. It was an entirely made up city that Plato created to illustrate his point about the very real threat of political corruption and how if left unchecked, could lead to the absolute devastation of an entire nation and its people.
It's also a fucking Nazi conspiracy theory. I shouldn't have to explain how "a secret advanced ancient civilization whose people were inherently superior and able to dominate all of the Ionian, Aegean and Mediterranean seas" is an absolute red fucking flag.
I'm going to jump out a window omfg a;lsdfj;alkgja
Here's a fun video for anyone who is still doubtful that explains in more depth how fucking bonkers the Atlantis conspiracy theory actually is.
I promise ACTUAL Greek history is extremely fascinating. Please stop buying into literal conspiracy theories, I'm going to lose my fucking mind.

Hello!! I followed you for your absolutely amazing Twisted Wonderland comics (thank you for making them, by the way-) but I saw you posting about something called Ride Kamens? I haven’t heard of it before, what’s it about? Or if that’s a bit much to ask, where could I find more info about it? It seems right up my alley 👀
Thank you!
thank you! :> :> :> (this is also for the other anon who asked about where to find it, I am honored to be infecting the world spreading interest in this silly game)
Ride Kamens is still doing prerelease marketing and isn't out yet; it's set for "early summer 2024", so a bit yet to go! similar to Twst, it's a mobile game about anime boys loosely based on an existing franchise (Kamen Rider), although it seems like it's going to be more standalone/won't require familiarity with Rider going in.
the (very) basic premise is that your player character has just taken over their late father's role as a secret agent, supporting the city's superheroes by running a secret base disguised as a cafe (plus you have a personal butler for some reason) (the reason is because it's amazing). you also have to help the heroes regain their lost memories, and it looks like it'll have a bit of a route/choice aspect there (not romance, just different endings to the character episodes depending on what you do). the details are kinda hard to tell at this point but the characters seem like a really fun bunch; there's definitely big "idiots with emotional problems" energy which I am extremely into.
all the official info is in Japanese only at the moment, but here's the website and the ride_kamens twitter! (though the twitter is sort of overtaken by posts about the AnimeJapan exhibit right now, whoops.) and I believe some people are already planning on doing translations for it too? lots to look forward to! :D
