Love me like a sailor
Tumblr media
im sorry it was a long time anwyyas hope u like the fic ! horror, dark romance ig?, lowkey YANDERE some spoilers on 3.2 quest, and just silliness
Tumblr media
The scent of laurel smoke curled through the air, laced with something older, bitter—like burnt parchment and hubris. You stood beneath the Sacred Tree, where philosophers carved truth into bark and left their minds to rot with honor. They called this place holy.
You called it absurd.
“Found something funny?”
His voice was a low purr, golden in timbre, venomous in rhythm. Anaxagoras—Anaxa, as he insisted you call him when no one else could hear—emerged from the columns like a specter from forgotten scripture. His robes shimmered like oil on water, reflecting knowledge too painful to bear. Eye the color of the sweet magenta-cyan ombre.
You didn’t look away.
“Only the idea that anyone here thinks they know anything at all.”
That smile. That cursed smile. He hated it. He loved it.
“Blasphemy,” he whispered, delighted. “You’ll fit right in.”
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
The Nousporists had no scriptures, no prayers, only questions so sharp they left the mind bleeding. Anaxa led them like a messiah of madness, burning every ideal of truth to rebuild his own version—twisted and elegant, cruel and beautiful.
You should have left the Grove.
Instead, you debated him.
And that’s when the trouble began.
Because when you said, “You’re wrong,” with a laugh in your voice and not a shred of fear in your eyes, he felt something break. And Anaxa did not break.
So he followed you. He read your discarded notes. Memorized your arguments. Stole the scent of your skin from the folds of your coat when you left it unattended. Rewrote his entire doctrine to include you as a conceptual axis without you noticing.
He never touched you.
He never dared.
But every night, in the sanctum where thoughts became flame and philosophies were branded into flesh, he dreamed of flaying the world open and handing you its still-beating heart.
“You don’t get tired of chasing your own logic circles?” you asked once, after a particularly vicious debate.
Anaxa looked you dead in the eye slowly, as though the sight of your breath misting in the cold air was sacred.
“I only walk in circles because you are the center.”
You laughed.
He didn’t.
Tumblr media
The Nousporists were not a school. They were a fever. An idea that spread like mold under gilded thought. Founded by Anaxa, born from his desire to prove that even divinity could fracture under scrutiny. To challenge the Coreflame of Reason was to challenge god itself—and so he did.
But what the others never understood was this:
The Nousporists were built for you.
His "heresies"? All mimics of your questions.
Does truth decay the longer we observe it? Is prophecy a mirror, or a command? Can love exist without misinterpretation?
You were not a lover. Not yet.
You were a problem.
Anaxa studied you like a puzzle made of void and starlight. Every time you opened your mouth, it wasn’t words—it was scripture only he could hear.
Subject Log, Entry 12 I accused her of solipsism. She laughed. She asked if I dream in color. I lied and said yes. (Note: I need to know what she dreams. Perhaps she dreams me.)
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
The deeper your research delved into the Chrysos Lineage, the less you slept. The more Anaxa watched you not as a peer, but as a phenomenon.
Your desk was a chaos of forbidden manuscripts, old glyphs glowing faintly, and diagrams of neural decay. At the center was your theory: The chrysosis was not divine punishment, but cognitive overload—a truth so absolute the brain set itself aflame to escape it.
Anaxa began sleeping in your study. He said it was to "supervise your deductions."
He never slept.
One night, while researching on Tribios as per Anaxa's request, you fell asleep with your cheek pressed to your notes. When you stirred, hours later, Anaxa was still at your side, chin resting on his folded arms beside you. His eyes were closed. Not asleep. Just...waiting.
He whispered, "I tried to dream about you. But I couldn’t replicate you. Not even in sleep."
Your breath caught. You wanted to mock him, to defuse it—but the way he looked at you made your heart crack sideways. Like you were his last theorem. Like he would kill every scholar in the Grove if it meant you’d say his name just once with awe.
And perhaps you did. Quietly.
"Anaxa." Holy fucking shit, he felt his undead heart burst up with blood
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
The Chrysos Heirs—beings of legend, said to carry the golden blood of the gods—were central figures in Amphorean history. Aglaea, the Goldweaver, stood as the acting leader of the Heirs, her divine authority inherited from the Titan Mnestia. Phainon, the Nameless King was undergoing the trial of the Coreflame. Hyacine, the enigmatic priest, was whispered to possess the ability to mend the celestial realm and to bear the fate of Aquila. Mydei, the Undying, bore a curse that rendered him immortal, a testament to his harrowing past. Cipher, the Fleet-footed, was a shadow that danced on the fringes of time, her allegiance and motives obscured, She was the demi-god of Zagreus.
Together, you and Anaxa embarked on a clandestine journey to dissect the essence of these figures. Nights were spent poring over ancient manuscripts, deciphering prophecies, and constructing theories that bordered on heresy.
The question that haunted your research was profound: What was the true nature of the Coreflames, and why were these individuals deemed worthy of their inheritance?
"The Titans,"
Anaxa mused one evening, fingers tracing the faded ink of a forbidden text, "were said to have crafted the very fabric of our existence. Their Coreflames are not mere symbols of power; they are fragments of creation itself."
You nodded, the gravity of his words sinking in. "And the Chrysos Heirs are the vessels chosen to wield these fragments. But by whom? And to what end?"
Anaxa's eyes gleamed with a mixture of excitement and something deeper, more insidious.
"That, my dear, is the crux of our inquiry."
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Your research led you to the origins of the Titans themselves—beings born from the Coreflames, each embodying fundamental aspects of existence. Kephale, the Worldbearing Titan, had sacrificed their Coreflame to ignite the Dawn Device, creating a sanctuary amidst the chaos wrought by the Black Tide. This act of selflessness set the stage for the rise of the Chrysos Heirs.
"The Black Tide," Anaxa pondered aloud, "was the catalyst that plunged the Titans into madness. But what if it was more than a mere calamity? What if it was a deliberate act to dismantle the old order?
The notion was radical, yet it aligned with the patterns you had begun to discern. "And the Chrysos Heirs are the instruments to establish a new order—a cycle perpetuated by the acquisition of Coreflames." Anaxa's expression darkened, a shadow crossing his features.
"A cycle that demands scrutiny. For if we are to break free from the chains of predestination, we must first understand the forge in which they were crafted."
"So, in simple words, The current chrysos heirs who bear the coreflame of the deceased titans, will bear the misfortune of becoming the titan in the next cycle..?" You questioned as your eyes widened to meet his magenta-cyan eyes this time driven with something which not even you knew.
"Correct." He said as his grin widened.
You glanced up to find him sitting unnervingly still, the ink quill idle in his hand. His eyes were on you—but not in the way a scholar looked at a peer.
His gaze had slipped. Dropped. Traced the curve of your jaw, the line of your lips. He wasn’t hearing your words anymore. His lips parted as if something sat behind them—some urge, some truth trying to claw its way out.
Your throat felt dry.
“...Anaxa?”
He didn’t look away. His stare stayed heavy. Dark. Hungry in a way he’d never let surface before. You shifted in your seat, your heart thudding once in your chest, louder than it should’ve.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
He blinked once. Slowly. And smiled with an unsettling softness, like he was indulging in something he wasn’t supposed to. “Forgive me. You said something… that caught my attention.”
“Something about the Heirs?”His eyes flicked back up to yours. “Something far more dangerous. Your breath hitched. The tension in the room was suffocating now—thick, aching.
You couldn’t explain why your pulse was racing, or why you suddenly felt like you were being studied not as a colleague, but as a mystery he was desperate to unravel.
You looked back down at your scroll, trying to focus.
“W-We should finish transcribing this section before—”
His voice was lower now. “You have no idea what you’re doing to me.”
You froze. Slowly looked back up.
Anaxa’s smile had vanished. His fingers were curled around the edge of the table, knuckles white. His pupils dilated. The madness in his gaze shimmered like oil beneath a calm sea.
“Every night I leave this chamber and I think I’ve regained my composure. And then I see you again and I—” He stopped himself, biting down on the inside of his cheek. “...This is not what I intended. I wanted truth. I wanted the the true reason of all of us, the Titans’ legacy. But now I find myself… wanting something I was not supposed to want.”
You stared. Unable to speak.
“And it infuriates me,” he said, so quietly you almost didn’t hear it. “Because it makes me weak. You make me weak.” The words hit you harder than they should’ve.
You felt hot. Flushed. You didn’t know what you were supposed to say. Was he confessing? Was he unraveling?
“Anaxa…” you started, voice shaky, unsure if it was warning or invitation. He leaned forward, slow, calculated—like a predator who didn’t want to scare its prey, but couldn’t help indulging in the thrill of it. His hand stopped just beside yours, close enough to feel the heat of his skin.
But he didn’t touch you.
He wouldn’t. Not yet.
“I won’t do anything you don’t want,” he whispered, voice dangerously soft. “But you should know this: the more we uncover, the more I realize the truth of this world is nothing compared to the truth I’ve found in you.” He said as he forcefully moves back away from you, in fear and something else
You held his gaze. Breath shallow.
The silence between you and Anaxa stretched taut—thick like honey, cloying like fate. He hadn’t moved since the moment he confessed those words.
The fire in his voice still clung to the air like smoke, and yet something in his expression had begun to flicker—falter.
His lashes lowered, eyes narrowing not with menace now, but something disturbingly fragile. Doubt. As if he expected your silence to become a knife. “I shouldn’t have said that,” he muttered suddenly, voice cracking at the edges.
“You’ll leave. You’ll run. Like all the others who called me cursed. Mad. A blasphemer…” You stood. Slowly. He didn’t flinch, but his jaw locked tight. He expected distance. Recoil. Rejection. A scholar might call it logical consequence—he called it inevitability. But you didn’t move away.
You stepped closer. He blinked, confusion warping into something far more desperate as he rose slightly tumbling backwards. “What are you—?”
You were close enough now to see the cracks in him. Not physical—no. His composure. That perfectly constructed mask he wore around the others, around even you, was splintering right at the edges.
You could see it in the twitch of his mouth. The unsteady breath.
The trembling in his fingers as he kept them clenched at his sides, refusing to reach for you. Because he didn’t dare. Because he feared touching you would shatter the only sacred thing left in his world.
You leaned forward. Brief. Barely a heartbeat’s worth of contact. Your lips brushed his. A breath. A flicker of softness. A question without words. Then you pulled back, just as fast.
Your heart thundered, panic laced in your movements as you turned to go, your voice stumbling out—“Forget that happened, we have research to—”
But you didn’t get far.
His hand was on your waist.
Gripping.
Firm.
Not rough.
Not yet. But trembling with restraint. Then he pulled you back, and suddenly he was burying his face into the crook of your neck like a man starved.
Like something had finally broken loose in him—unleashed, unstopped, unholy. You gasped softly as you felt his breath ghost across your skin. His voice was low, unsteady, wrecked.
“Why… would you do that to me?” His other hand found your back, clutching it like he was trying to make sure you were real.
Like you’d slip through his fingers otherwise. His grip tightened. And behind his calm whispering, behind the warm pressure of his body pressed into yours, his thoughts spiraled like wildfire—
She’s mine. She’s real. She kissed me. Me. Not them. Not the sages, not the heirs. Me. She chose me. She cannot leave. She cannot see the others. She cannot be claimed by anyone else. I will burn the world if it touches her. I will gut the sky itself if it looks at her wrong.
His eyes—glowing now, iridescent with the light of something not entirely sane—flickered open against your skin. He pressed his lips to your throat. Not a kiss. A mark. A claim without blood.
“You don’t know,” he whispered, trembling. “You don’t know what you’ve done to me.”
You didn’t know. But maybe… maybe you wanted to. Because you didn’t push him away .And that was enough to damn him.

Work smarter not harder
Wise and important words from sociologist Jennifer Walter about what is happening in this country right now and what to do about it:
"As a sociologist, I need to tell you:
Your overwhelm is the goal.
1/ The flood of 200+ executive orders in Trump's first days exemplifies Naomi Klein's "shock doctrine" - using chaos and crisis to push through radical changes while people are too disoriented to effectively resist. This isn't just politics as usual - it's a strategic exploitation of cognitive limits.
2/ Media theorist McLuhan predicted this: When humans face information overload, they become passive and disengaged. The rapid-fire executive orders create a cognitive bottleneck, making it nearly impossible for citizens and media to thoroughly analyze any single policy.
3/ Agenda-setting theory explains the strategy: When multiple major policies compete for attention simultaneously, it fragments public discourse. Traditional media can't keep up with the pace, leading to superficial coverage.
The result? Weakened democratic oversight and reduced public engagement.
What now?
1/ Set boundaries: Pick 2-3 key issues you deeply care about and focus your attention there. You can't track everything - that's by design. Impact comes from sustained focus, not scattered awareness.
2/ Use aggregators & experts: Find trusted analysts who do the heavy lifting of synthesis. Look for those explaining patterns, not just events.
3/ Remember: Feeling overwhelmed is the point. When you recognize this, you regain some power. Take breaks. Process. This is a marathon.
4/ Practice going slow: Wait 48hrs before reacting to new policies. The urgent clouds the important. Initial reporting often misses context
5/ Build community: Share the cognitive load. Different people track different issues. Network intelligence beats individual overload.
Remember: They want you scattered. Your focus is resistance.

The Synthetic Chronosphere
Accelerated Aging Through The Lens of Neo-Technomagick
In an age where modern therapies promise longevity and health optimization, why does it feel as though humanity is aging faster than ever before? Wrinkles appear sooner, fatigue sets in earlier, and even the youngest and wealthiest among us seem prematurely weighed down by the burdens of time. Could it be more than just stress or environmental factors? Neo-Technomagick offers an alternative perspective— one that suggests we may be ensnared in a metaphysical construct designed to accelerate our biological clocks while obscuring the true nature of time and vitality.
The Neo-Technomagick Framework
Neo-Technomagick embraces the interplay of technology, consciousness, and metaphysics, delving into the shadowy intersections of science and spirit. It is within this framework that we propose the "Synthetic Chronosphere Hypothesis"—a theory suggesting that humanity has been subtly and systematically entrapped in an artificial temporal matrix that manipulates perception, energy, and biology to the detriment of human sovereignty.
The Synthetic Chronosphere Hypothesis
1. Temporal Compression and Technological Control
Modern digital technologies have redefined how we experience time. Constant connectivity, endless streams of information, and the relentless demands of productivity create an experience of "temporal compression." This is more than psychological; quantum theories suggest that consciousness itself influences time. By fracturing our focus and overloading our cognitive bandwidth, we may inadvertently accelerate our biological perception of aging, resulting in physical manifestations.
In this light, technology becomes not just a tool but a subtle agent of temporal manipulation, tethering human awareness to an artificially fast-paced rhythm.
2. Electromagnetic Sabotage
The human body operates within an electromagnetic symphony, its bioenergetic fields attuned to Earth's natural frequencies. But the proliferation of electromagnetic technologies—5G networks, Wi-Fi, and satellite constellations—may disrupt these natural harmonics. Ancient cultures understood the power of resonance and designed their sacred sites to amplify Earth’s healing frequencies. Could modern infrastructure deliberately counteract this harmony, accelerating cellular degradation and aging?
Neo-Technomancers might find echoes of this manipulation in historical shifts. What knowledge of resonance and longevity was lost—or suppressed—when industrialized societies severed their ties to nature and the spiritual/ magickal realms?
3. Epigenetic Warfare
Neo-Technomagick invites us to question the dual nature of modern health advancements. Pharmaceuticals, genetically modified foods, and even certain therapies may conceal an insidious agenda: embedding epigenetic triggers that subtly sabotage our biology. Nanotechnology, present in everything from vaccines to processed foods, could act as silent agents of cellular disruption, eroding our innate resilience.
This theory resonates with alternative histories that suggest humanity’s genetic template was once more robust—an inheritance from advanced civilizations like Atlantis or Lemuria. The systematic weakening of our DNA, whether intentional or incidental, could explain the widespread perception of premature aging today.
4. The Artificial Chronosphere and Time's Manipulation
Beyond the physical lies the metaphysical. Parapsychological theories suggest humanity has been cut off from natural cycles of time, confined within a "Synthetic Chronosphere" engineered by a technocratic elite. Time, once fluid and multidimensional, has been rigidly linearized, trapping consciousness within an artificial construct that accelerates entropy.
By aligning ourselves with the Chronosphere, we surrender our vitality. Ancient mystics and magicians, operating outside this paradigm, accessed timeless states of being, achieving longevity by syncing with natural cosmic rhythms.
5. Loosh Theory and Energetic Harvesting
The Neo-Technomagick framework also considers the possibility of energetic harvesting. Could the stress, fear, and despair permeating modern life be deliberately amplified to extract "loosh"—subtle energy emitted through human suffering? Accelerated aging, under this lens, becomes a byproduct of living in a state of chronic energetic depletion, our life force siphoned away by unseen entities or forces.
Neo-Technomantic Solutions
Neo-Technomagick encourages us not only to recognize these manipulations but to resist and transcend them. How?
Resonance Restoration: Explore sound therapy, binaural beats, and ancient resonance techniques to retune the bioenergetic field. Devices that generate Schumann frequencies or Tesla-inspired technologies may help reestablish harmony with Earth’s natural rhythms.
Chronomantic Practices: Engage in meditations and rituals that reconnect with natural cycles of time, sidestepping the artificial rhythms imposed by modern society. Time-bending exercises can disrupt the influence of the Synthetic Chronosphere.
Energetic Sovereignty: Cultivate energetic protection through practices such as visualization, shielding, and rituals designed to fortify the life force against external siphoning.
Epigenetic Crafting: Incorporate foods, herbs, and supplements that repair and enhance DNA integrity. Ancient practices like fasting and herbalism can support genetic resilience.
Alternative Knowledge Revival: Dive into the suppressed histories of Atlantis, Lemuria, and other ancient civilizations. Their secrets may hold the keys to reversing the damage done to humanity's natural vitality.
Conclusion
Accelerated aging may not simply be the result of stress or environmental toxins; rather, it is the physical manifestation of deeper manipulations—of time, energy, and perception. Through the lens of Neo-Technomagick, we see the interconnectedness of technological interference, metaphysical sabotage, and the fracturing of ancient wisdom. Yet, in this darkness, there is hope. By reclaiming our energetic, technological and temporal sovereignty, we can reverse the tides and embrace a future unbound, untamed, and blazing.
Are you ready to take the first step toward liberation?

So Idrk if u could help me with that but id really appreciate it if you can give me your insight on that matter. Feel free to ignore it if its too dumb or if u don’t have an idea ab it.
so I’m an autistic and I struggled my whole life with language (I’m not gonna give u a headache with it so…) , but recently I feel really dumb like I can’t express myself with words like at all, I can’t write it down or speak it so therefore I can’t explain my thoughts and feel stupid bc how the hell im gonna provide an opinion or a solution on a thing that really concerns me or that I really have passion for it if I can’t even speak my mind.
it’s really sad like I’m silent most of the time bc every time I open my mouth to say even the simplest thing I forget every fking word that is in a language and my mouth hang open while no words coming out like I’m lagging. Sometimes I even say gibberish trying my hardest to say stupid shit like "I want water"😃
So my questions are do you have any advice or tips that I can improve my speech and my using of words with? or do you think it’s not fixable with reading and writing and I should probably see speech therapist? Thank you 💙
okay, hii (..◜ᴗ◝..)
first, i want you to know that even though i studied linguistics, i only took one course related to speech impairments and specific language impairment (SLI). i saw the theory, i never practiced it.
so first of all, your ask isn’t dumb! the way you described what you’re experiencing—the feeling of being locked out of language, the silence, the lagging, the gibberish—that’s real, and it actually makes a lot of sense in light of how speech production works in the brain.
let me break this down a little. in spoken language, there are multiple stages that need to line up instantly when we talk. there's conceptualization (figuring out what you want to say), formulation (finding the words and grammar), and articulation (saying the words with your mouth). for most people, this happens naturally. but when even one stage gets disrupted, we experience what you described.
this is about your brain handling language differently. and especially with autism. there’s actually a body of work in speech-language pathology showing that neurodivergent people often process and produce language in nonlinear ways. that means your ability to express yourself isn’t broken—it’s just that some of the stages you’ve got to get it out sometimes don’t cooperate. for example, you can’t sync the motor commands to your mouth in time. that can be affected by stress, fatigue, or sensory overload.
now, as for your question: whether this can be improved, or whether it’s time to see a speech therapist. from my perspective, both are true.
i know speech therapy is mostly marketed towards kids—but, it’s also for adults. a speech-language pathologist or speech therapist who understands neurodivergence can help you build strategies to give your brain more reliable tools to communicate.
that said, there are things you can do on your own, like:
practice saying what you’re thinking in your head.
record voice notes or videos. even if it’s messy, it helps build fluency and gives you a non-judgmental space. some foreign language teachers recommend this to help their students become more comfortable with speaking.
reduce the pressure. i know that’s easier said than done. but anxiety literally jams the speech centers of the brain. when you’re calm, words have a better chance of coming through.
ultimately, if it feels like this is seriously getting in the way of your life, i’d absolutely encourage seeing a speech therapist or a speech-language pathologist if you can. this is about access, not fixing. you already have the thoughts, the goal is just to build a bridge to get them out.
you're not dumb. you're someone with a different cognitive-linguistic profile, navigating a world that wasn’t really designed with that in mind.
thank you for trusting me enough to say all that 💙

Introduction
Authoritarianism is on the rise as a key talking point when it comes to finding solutions to the ecological crisis. The same attributes that predominate technological society – apathy, fear, cognitive overload and feeling a lack of agency[1] – are more and more reflected in the mainstream environmental movement, leading us to believe in new leaders, figureheads and ideas, such as green growth.[2] More on this later.
Lately, I have come across multiple texts by Andreas Malm, author and associate senior lecturer at Lund University, who is one such authoritarian calling for an “Ecological Leninism”.
In his recent interview with Verso books[3] he was asked:
How do you explain the gap between the relative dynamism of ecological Marxist theories – in Anglo-Saxon countries in particular – and the weakness of the political intervention of Marxists in these movements?
Malm answers:
Ecological Marxism has a tendency to cripple itself by staying inside academia. It needs to engage with and reach out to the actual movements in the field. Anarchist ideas should be combated; they will take us nowhere. I think it’s time to start experimenting with things like ecological Leninism or Luxemburgism or Blanquism. But the weakness of Marxism in ecological politics is of course inextricable from its nearly universal weakness at this moment in time (i.e., one symptom of the crisis of humanity, alongside acidification of the oceans and everything else).
Malm represents a Nordic example of eco-modernist [R.F. – see ‘The Decoupling Thesis’] authoritarian thought. Establishing a false dichotomy (e.g. centralized vs decentralized) between anarchistic approaches to change making, Malm meanwhile fails to reflect on the impacts of authoritarian systems in any honest way. This combines with a detached and warped perception of the environmental movement’s recent history.
In How to Blow Up a Pipeline, Malm advocates, but also shits on direct action. Clearly detached from ecological struggles, referring to anarchists attacks as not big enough, he draws on the work of Micheal Loadenthal who documented “27,100 actions between 1973 and 2010,” in an attempt to discredit decentralized action.[4]
“All those thousands of monkeywrenching actions achieved little if anything,” explains Malm, “and had no lasting gains to show for them. They were not performed in a dynamic relation to a mass movement, but largely in a void.”
Ignoring the actions of the remaining Leftist governments (Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, etc.), it is clear Malm has no idea what these actions advocate, let alone the continuation and intensification of eco-anarchist attacks in Europe and the rest of the world between 2010–2016 (see Return Fire magazine, 325, Act for Freedom Now, Avalanche etc.). More still, many of these actions, especially Earth Liberation Front (ELF) actions, were supported by local struggles.[5]
He conveniently forgets all the direct actions and sabotage in direct connection to popular movements that helped save wetlands and stop motorways across the UK [R.F. – see Return Fire vol.4 pg89], or the vital role decentralized direct action and sabotage play in the highly effective struggle of the Mapuche people to recover their territory [R.F. – see Return Fire vol.3 pg59], to name just two examples – and there are countless.
And because environmental justice and social justice go hand in hand, we shouldn’t forget the vital role that arson attacks and other major decentralized sabotage actions had in the divestment campaign against the apartheid government of South Africa in the 1980s, or the change in public attitudes towards the racist police in the United States accomplished by direct and decentralized attacks across that country [R.F. – see The Siege of the Third Precinct in Minneapolis].
Popular rejection of the police is now so strong, many cities face a shortage of recruits for their police forces, even as local governments fight to expand funding. This example shows the relative merits of the decentralized, grassroots action that Malm derides, versus the government action pushed by leftwing parties. It is also worth noting that Malm is decidedly uninterested in and uninformed regarding antiracist struggles, while also using racist tropes and promoting the technocratic, institutional framework of colonialism in his writings.
Malm’s limited view is not just a defect of his own thinking. The tendency of technocrats to reduce the interrelated problems of widespread ecological devastation, borders and migration, global hunger and lack of food sovereignty caused by the so-called Green Revolution, is a huge problem.
It opens the door to eco-fascism, and gives the fascists and other racists a seat at the table. If we only think about climate, as though it were distinct from all the other entangled social and ecological problems, then we are forced to focus narrowly on bringing down Co2 within the existing institutional framework of states, NGOs, and corporations. This means that ultimately, each state (as the chief administrative unit) is responsible for bringing down its own emissions.
This leads to an entire accounting game of pushing off emissions responsibility onto poorer countries, closing borders, blaming immigrants, promoting socially and ecologically destructive technologies (e.g. ‘smart’ cities [R.F. – see Return Fire vol.3 pg31], low-carbon infrastructures, idiotic conservation schemes). From Austria to the UK, Green Parties and mainstream environmental movements have already been making alliances of convenience with far right parties and organizations. Now, Malm is trying to put Leninism back on the table, mirroring the resurgence of classical fascist groups and authoritarian governments.
Malm unapologetically remains politically naïve to the realities of repression and state violence endured by people engaging in non-violent sabotage and vandalism actions. In a review by Gabriel Kuhn, an Austrian political author based in Sweden, he calls Malm’s ignorance of struggles and movements “offensive,” pointing out how he ignores “The Green Scare” [R.F. – see Return Fire vol.4 pg82] and how, despite minimizing decentralized action, the ELF and eco-anarchist actions were labeled by the FBI as the “number one domestic terrorist threat.”[6]
People are fighting, dying [R.F. – see Return Fire vol.5 pg56], and serving extended sentences in prison (9–22 years, see June11.org or any Anarchist Black Cross), which Malm flagrantly disrespects for his pseudo-academic circus and attempted revival of Leninism. More importantly, however, many fighters are getting away with these actions inflicting economic costs and real delays. Right now, supposedly ecologically militant people like Malm, should be working to socially normalize committed non-violent (but not pacifist) struggles and spread it to this new generations of “climate youth” continues who are eager to make a difference. Yet Malm instead vomits political ignorance, authoritarian romantics, flagrant disrespect and concerted hostility to the people engaged in this fight.
Malm does not have to be a self-absorbed academic unaccountable to reality. All of us, instead, can think like outlaws, like feral cats, and organize with our friends to destroy what destroys us. While I am unsure if their actions were “performed in a dynamic relation to a mass movement” (whatever that means), most participants were entrenched in various “activist” or non-activist communities (for better and worse).[7] There is a relatively small, but viral movement – everywhere – already in place risking life and limb to confront mines, pipelines, energy infrastructure and the authoritarian systems that maintain them.
Malm’s analysis widely ignores how environmental struggles have so far required all kinds of actors, from saboteurs to lawyers, journalists and lawmakers: There is no either/or. Rather than making a career out of bashing them and for a perverse authoritarian leftist agenda, Malm should be part of organizing prisoner support for eco-warriors, curating information nights on struggles, securing lawyers, influencing public policy to eliminate terrorism enhancement charges and so on. There is so much people can do in general, but also established academics. Why not support Indigenous land defense, eco-anarchist attack and actually begin organizing against the sources of ecological degradation, instead of promoting some hair brained Leninist scheme? The Trotskyites at Verso should also take a good look into the mirror and reconsider their political values, but more so it seems unwise to publish and give a platform to uneducated and poorly researched work like this. Where is the pushback?

Overcoming the Forgetting Curve with Microlearning
Tumblr media
Learners forget most of what they have learned within six months of training. This is one of the primary reasons why many training programs fail to deliver a high return on investment. Organizations invest significant time and resources into training their employees, only to realize that the knowledge gained fades away too quickly.
Why does this happen? The answer lies in a fundamental concept of memory retention known as the forgetting curve. This theory, introduced by Hermann Ebbinghaus in the 1870s, explains how human memory decays over time unless information is reinforced through repetition and recall.
To combat this natural decline in memory retention, training programs must adopt a strategic approach that ensures learning is retained and applied effectively. One of the most powerful solutions to this challenge is microlearning. By delivering content in bite-sized, focused lessons with built-in reinforcement mechanisms, microlearning ensures that knowledge stays fresh and accessible.
Understanding the Forgetting Curve
Hermann Ebbinghaus conducted extensive research on memory and discovered that people tend to forget newly learned information rapidly. His experiments revealed a steep decline in memory retention, with significant knowledge loss occurring within hours or days of learning.
The key findings of his forgetting curve theory include:
Without reinforcement, people forget nearly 50 percent of what they learn within an hour.
Within 24 hours, retention drops to approximately 70 percent.
After a week, most learners retain only about 20 to 30 percent of the original information.
By six months, only a small fraction of the knowledge remains unless active recall and reinforcement strategies are applied.
This rapid decay in memory can severely impact employee performance and training effectiveness. Organizations that fail to address this challenge often find themselves re-training employees or dealing with costly errors resulting from forgotten knowledge.
The Role of Repetition and Recall in Learning
To counteract the forgetting curve, learners must engage in regular repetition and recall of key concepts. This means reviewing information at strategic intervals and actively retrieving knowledge from memory.
Two primary techniques that enhance learning retention include:
Spaced Repetition
Spaced repetition involves presenting information multiple times over an extended period, with increasing intervals between each review session. Instead of cramming all training content in a single session, spaced repetition ensures that knowledge is reinforced at optimal times to strengthen memory.
Retrieval Practice
Retrieval practice encourages learners to actively recall information rather than passively reviewing it. By prompting learners to retrieve knowledge from memory through quizzes, exercises, and reflection questions, this technique strengthens neural connections and improves long-term retention.
Combining spaced repetition with retrieval practice creates a powerful learning experience that significantly reduces memory decay and enhances the application of knowledge.
How Microlearning Addresses the Forgetting Curve
Microlearning is a training approach that delivers content in short, focused modules designed to fit into a learner’s workflow. These lessons typically last between three to five minutes and focus on specific learning objectives.
Microlearning naturally aligns with the principles of spaced repetition and retrieval practice, making it an effective strategy for combating the forgetting curve. Here is how microlearning ensures knowledge retention and application:
1. Short and Focused Learning Sessions
Traditional training sessions are often lengthy and overwhelming, leading to cognitive overload. Microlearning breaks down complex topics into digestible chunks, allowing learners to absorb information more effectively. Since each module focuses on a single concept, learners can concentrate on mastering one idea at a time before moving on to the next.
2. Reinforcement Through Spaced Learning
Microlearning enables organizations to schedule learning reinforcement at optimal intervals. Instead of delivering training content all at once, microlearning modules can be spaced out over weeks or months. This ensures that learners revisit key concepts at the right time, preventing memory decay.
For example, an employee who completes a microlearning lesson today may receive a follow-up quiz in three days, another knowledge check in a week, and a refresher module after a month. This structured reinforcement strengthens retention and ensures that knowledge remains accessible when needed.
3. Active Engagement Through Interactive Elements
Microlearning lessons often incorporate interactive elements such as quizzes, simulations, and real-world scenarios. These elements encourage active participation and retrieval practice, helping learners reinforce their understanding through engagement.
Instead of passively consuming information, learners are required to apply their knowledge by answering questions, solving problems, or completing activities. This hands-on approach strengthens memory and increases the likelihood of information recall in real-world situations.
4. Flexibility and Accessibility
One of the biggest advantages of microlearning is its flexibility. Employees can access training content anytime, anywhere, and on any device. Whether they are at their desk, commuting, or taking a short break, microlearning allows them to engage with training materials at their convenience.
This flexibility ensures that learning fits seamlessly into a learner’s schedule, making it easier to revisit key concepts and reinforce knowledge over time. Instead of dedicating long hours to traditional training sessions, employees can engage in short, targeted learning bursts that align with their workflow.
5. Personalized Learning Paths
Microlearning platforms can leverage artificial intelligence and data analytics to personalize learning experiences based on individual needs. By tracking learner progress and performance, these platforms can identify knowledge gaps and deliver customized reinforcement exercises.
For instance, if an employee struggles with a particular concept, the system can recommend additional microlearning modules or targeted quizzes to strengthen their understanding. This adaptive learning approach ensures that each learner receives the right content at the right time, optimizing retention and performance.
6. Application-Based Learning
Microlearning goes beyond theory by emphasizing practical application. Lessons are designed to be relevant to real-world scenarios, allowing learners to immediately apply what they have learned.
For example, a customer service representative undergoing microlearning training may complete a short module on handling difficult customers, followed by a role-playing simulation. This hands-on approach helps reinforce learning and builds confidence in applying skills in actual work situations.
Real-World Example of Microlearning in Action
Consider an organization implementing microlearning for sales training. Instead of conducting a one-time, intensive training session, the company designs a microlearning program that includes:
A short video explaining key product features
A quiz reinforcing important details
A real-world scenario simulation to test application skills
Follow-up reinforcement quizzes sent at strategic intervals
A refresher module one month later to strengthen retention
By structuring the training in this way, the company ensures that employees not only learn but also retain and apply their knowledge effectively. The result is improved sales performance, higher customer satisfaction, and a greater return on investment in training.
Conclusion
The forgetting curve is a real challenge that impacts the effectiveness of training programs. However, organizations can overcome this challenge by leveraging microlearning strategies that emphasize repetition, recall, and engagement.
By breaking down training content into small, manageable lessons and reinforcing learning at optimal intervals, microlearning ensures that knowledge retention is maximized. Through active participation, flexible access, and personalized learning paths, employees stay engaged, retain more information, and apply their skills effectively.
For organizations looking to boost training ROI and enhance workforce performance, microlearning is the key to long-term knowledge retention and success.

Week 1 - Sept 13
Topics - What are the effects of gamification on cognitive load and emotion, Illusion/Perception-Bending
Because I am basing my capstone on my thesis research question, I have a lot of different sources and an entire literature review (rough) to look through. However, I wanted to avoid limiting myself to simply that research question and started exploring the major topics within the questions and cast a wider net for more creative inspiration.
I began looking through this article about cognitive and emotional research in relationship to gamification and serious gaming. I was drawn to the topic of "inattentional blindness" (the tendency to miss a second stimulus after detecting an initial visual stimulus) which tied into my second topic of illusions or any sort of perceptual manipulation that may trick the brain's processing of images/information.
"Additionally, emotion may prevent “inattentional blindness,” i.e., the tendency to miss a second stimulus after detecting an initial visual stimulus"
"Immersive first-person shooter games enable faster and more accurate attention allocation. Focused attention is key to achieving cognitive absorption or “flow” " --> ties into flow theory (providing positive incentives at varying intervals aligns with human nature, which is driven by internal motivations stimulated by external rewards).
After reading about inattentional blindness, I wanted to research illusion science and history more. This article included some history of the origin of illusions, the use of depth, movement, and color in optical illusion art, and important types and figures of illusion art.
"According to BigThink, there are three main types of optical illusions: literal, physiological, and cognitive. "
"Literal illusions can be seen in two different ways, such as the duck and rabbit image. Physiological illusions use sensory overload to trick our brains into seeing movement and depth that aren’t actually there. Cognitive illusions trick both our eyes and brain with impossible shapes and logic, such as Oscar Reutersvärd’s “Penrose Triangle.”"
I hope to look into more game designs because I was able to research Superliminal a bit this week and found that was a really interesting design to confuse players using perception and "tricking brains."
I also feel like next week I will be looking more into software for game design and playing around with that for a while.

The Cognitive Load Factor: How Decision Pulse Reacts Under Pressure
In today's high‑stakes environments, leaders and frontline teams face a relentless barrage of decisions. The lens of cognitive load—the mental bandwidth required to process information—reveals how our internal “decision pulse” fluctuates under pressure. This article explores how cognitive load disrupts judgment and how Decision Pulse's AI-driven insights can help us stay sharp when it matters most.
1. What is Cognitive Load—and Why It Matters
Cognitive load theory, pioneered by John Sweller, categorizes the mental effort required to process tasks into intrinsic, extraneous, and germane loads linkedin.com+4thedecisionlab.com+4devopsinstitute.com+4. Our working memory is limited—handling about 4–7 chunks of information at a time. When we exceed that, mental fatigue sets in: attention falters, errors creep in, and creative thinking diminishes .
Time-critical environments make managing cognitive load even more vital. Tasks that require rapid evaluation—like medical diagnoses or operational decisions—can overwhelm our mental resources, increasing the risk of costly mistakes .
2. Decision Pulse: A Real-Time Barometer of Mental Load
What if we could track these mental fluctuations in real time? Recent advances—like measuring pulse wave amplitude in response to task demands—hint at an objective “decision pulse” metric that correlates with cognitive load sciencedirect.com+4biorxiv.org+4dl.acm.org+4. Physiological signals like heart-rate variability, pupil dilation, or blood-volume pulse offer a window into mental stress and information overload as they happen.
For instance, as tasks grow more complex, our pupils dilate proportionally, marking the strain on working memory dl.acm.org. Similarly, pulse-wave responses track cognitive load dynamics under pressure biorxiv.org.
3. High Load → Decision Fatigue: The Domino Effect
Sustained high cognitive load leads to decision fatigue, a condition studied by Baumeister and others, where people begin defaulting to easy or impulsive choices, avoid complex decisions, or suffer reduced self-regulation dl.acm.org+14en.wikipedia.org+14research.cbs.dk+14. Emotion-based heuristics, or “gut reactions,” gain influence under such load—especially with tight time frames pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov+3en.wikipedia.org+3research.cbs.dk+3.
Such fatigue isn't abstract—it affects job performance. Judges become more lenient or harsh throughout the day; frontline staff may miss critical signals when overwhelmed .
4. How Decision Pulse Helps You Stay Ahead
Decision Pulse GenAI brings labs and operations real‑time decision-quality insights, letting individuals and teams:
Monitor mental load via physiological proxies (pupils, pulse wave)
Receive alerts when load hits thresholds that risk quality
Apply on-the-spot interventions—pauses, prompts, or simplified workflows to ease load
Adapt over time by learning a user’s baseline and cognitive resilience zones
By translating invisible mental strain into visible signals, Decision Pulse empowers teams to pause, recalibrate, or delegate precisely when it matters most.
5. Strategies to Moderate Load – Powered by AI
Integrating cognitive load awareness with real-time insights unlocks powerful mitigation strategies:
Prioritize and chunk tasks to reduce intrinsic load
Eliminate distractions and standardize workflows to cut extraneous load biorxiv.org+1linkedin.com+1linkedin.com+2thedecisionlab.com+2dremilywhitehorse.com+2
Use clear prompts and alerts when the decision pulse shows overload
Introduce micro-breaks or automation to restore mental equilibrium
As cognitive fatigue builds, automated interventions—nudges, pauses, or simplified views—help prevent snap decisions, impulsivity, or missed trade-offs.
Conclusion
Cognitive load is the hidden force that governs the quality of our decisions—especially under pressure. Platforms like Decision Pulse GenAI transform this abstract challenge into actionable insights, tracking your decision pulse and empowering you to respond in real time. The result? Smarter choices, fewer errors, and teams that operate at their best—even when the heat is on.
Uncertainty doesn’t have to cloud our judgment. By tuning in to our mental bandwidth, we can stay in control—no matter how intense the decision-making moment becomes.

Bias vs. Pruning: Nitpicking What You Witness vs. Nitpicking Conclusions
>[!note] this is more of a shitpost for myself.
I. Introduction
In an age of information abundance and cognitive overload, how we process what we experience is increasingly shaped by unconscious habits of attention. Two key tendencies emerge: bias, the filtering or distortion of perception at the level of witnessing, and pruning, the deliberate refinement or critique of conclusions drawn from that perception. While they may appear similar—both involve a kind of selection—they operate at fundamentally different layers of cognition and carry distinct philosophical implications. This essay examines the distinction between bias and pruning, proposing that genuine intellectual clarity depends on cultivating careful witnessing while reserving skepticism for conclusions, not experiences.
II. The Nature of Bias: Distortion in Witnessing
Bias is often described as a deviation from objectivity. It occurs not only in how we interpret data but in how we attend to experience itself. As the psychologist Daniel Kahneman elaborates in Thinking, Fast and Slow (2011), the brain employs cognitive shortcuts—heuristics—that shape what is noticed and how it is framed. Thus, bias affects our witnessing before any conscious judgment is made.
To be biased is to be predisposed—culturally, emotionally, or ideologically—to favor certain impressions and suppress others. The danger lies not in reaching faulty conclusions (which can be corrected) but in deforming the very raw material of thinking. As Krishnamurti warned: "The ability to observe without evaluating is the highest form of intelligence."
III. The Nature of Pruning: Discerning in Conclusions
Pruning, by contrast, begins after experience. It is the act of refining understanding, trimming away overgeneralizations, fallacies, and unverified assumptions. Pruning is a deliberate skepticism applied not to what is seen but to what is concluded. It is Socratic in nature: a recognition that most conclusions are provisional, hypotheses rather than truths.
Unlike bias, which shrinks perception, pruning widens inquiry by removing false certainty. It encourages humility and openness. The Buddha's concept of right view (samma ditthi) in the Noble Eightfold Path suggests a disciplined cultivation of discernment—recognizing the impermanence and interdependence of appearances without rushing to closure.
IV. Confusing the Two: Modern Epistemological Traps
A common confusion in modern discourse is mistaking pruning for bias, or vice versa. When someone questions an established conclusion, they may be accused of being biased. Conversely, those who are truly biased may present their selectivity as careful pruning.
In public discourse, this confusion is particularly dangerous. Selective exposure to information, reinforced by algorithmic curation and confirmation bias, has created echo chambers where witnessing is pre-filtered and unchecked. Yet the illusion remains that these views have been "reasoned through."
The scientific method was designed to combat precisely this problem—by prioritizing clear, replicable observation and delaying the acceptance of conclusions. Karl Popper's principle of falsifiability insists that theories remain open to disproof. This is pruning: treating conclusions as provisional. Bias, in contrast, bypasses the process altogether by shaping what is allowed into awareness.
V. Psychological Implications
Psychologically, the consequences are stark. A biased mind lives in a hall of mirrors, unaware that its view is incomplete. It is, as the philosopher Alan Watts described, “like trying to bite your own teeth.” Pruning, by contrast, involves the uncomfortable but liberating act of stepping outside oneself and letting go of cherished conclusions.
Acceptance of experience as it is—what some traditions call bare attention or choiceless awareness—is a precondition for truthful thinking. Acceptance does not mean agreement or passivity; it means seeing clearly before interpreting. As Viktor Frankl observed, “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response.” Bias contracts that space; pruning preserves it.
VI. Toward a Culture of Witnessing
A culture of true witnessing values silence before speech, observation before opinion. It teaches discernment not as skepticism of perception, but as skepticism of interpretation. In educational, journalistic, and spiritual contexts, this principle is often forgotten.
In his essay Politics and the English Language, George Orwell lamented that modern language tends to obscure rather than reveal thought. This is symptomatic of bias masquerading as insight—imprecise witnessing followed by overconfident conclusions. Clear thinking demands we reverse this order: clear witnessing first, cautious pruning second.
VII. Conclusion: Cultivating Intellectual Integrity
To live without judgment—as a witness—is not to forgo critical thinking but to place it where it belongs. Bias corrupts the origin of thought; pruning clarifies its outcome. Confusing one for the other leads to either naïve acceptance or neurotic skepticism.
True understanding begins with presence. Only when we stop nitpicking what we see, and start nitpicking what we think about what we see, can we approach intellectual and philosophical integrity. For, as Heraclitus wrote, “Much learning does not teach understanding.” But careful attention—untainted by bias, disciplined by pruning—just might.
