banging my head on the table
why do people have this urge to come onto other peoples' posts and make it about themselves.
the number of times ive talked about My Own Lore publicly and someones come onto My post to talk about their stuff while completely ignoring everything i said.
like do you not realize how shitty that feels. wouldnt you not want it to happen to you.
then why the FUCK do you do it to others.
#yes this is about xiv twt.#original#a recent SERIES of incidents of this nature reminded me of one that had me delete my own damn thread#i was just spitballing echo ideas and someone came in to take my ideas and start talking about their ideas and how to apply my stuff to#their character and everything witHOUT AT ALL acknowledging ANYTHING i said#(this is also the same person who i dm'd when trying to decide between two voice claims for surkie#and instead of giving feedback they just took one of them for their own character#''hey im thinking kaine or jackass'' ''oh i hadnt considered jackass for my character im gonna use that now! :)'' End Me.)#theres a common excuse that comes with a lot of these and i just. theres a point where you need to Stop using that excuse#because its such a widespread problem of people whove never been in collaborative writing spaces that dont know how to Take Turns Talking#or asking into the other person's stuff. like if you ever wonder why i stop talking to you#think for a second and maybe look back at the conversations to see how equal they are in terms of attention and consideration#at some point i just start ghosting bcuz im too exhausted to deal with people who just come onto my posts where im talking about My story#just to redirect to them and their shit and what they do its just#i already deeply feel like shit about what i write and i know the majority of the people who i talk to dont read my shit#i know of maybe 3 people who have out of How many people who've said they would but never have?#who say they like my writing but never actually touch it?#you dont need to add onto it by turning attention back to yourself when im talking to myself on my twt or tumblr.#what i decide to post about my writing is not a launching pad for you to go on about your wol and i s2g y'all need to stop#it's such assholish behavior

POV: Catherine:
Tumblr media
WIBTA for not trusting my mentor and confronting him for how I feel?
For context, I have been wondering if I should trust my mentor for a while now. I want to trust him with my whole heart. But there’s something about the way he looks at me that makes my skin crawl. He’s so devoted to our cause. I’m almost scared to gaze too deeply into his eyes. For they sizzle and crack like embers. Too much devotion like that is what will get you in the end.
He’s just like my mom in that way. The type who burns bright and fast. Thats why I am so endlessly mesmerized by him. At the same time, my mentor makes me uncomfortable. He pushes me too hard, too fast, he wants too much of me.
Therefore, I feel like I should confront him with these feelings. But I’m afraid he’ll blow up in my face. Just like my mom used to do.

sorry your getting dragged in the coments of that one post. they're saying its cop behavior because the rule in place is not to protect the intellectual property of the student.
if a magazine was asking for an original unpublished photo and was paying money to the photographer, and then the photographer submitted something they already published, then THAT is self-plagerism.
a student submitting the same piece of work to multiple classes is not only a time-saver, but also a valuable way to get more critique.
does it go against school policy? sure. does it result in bodily or finacial harm? no. thats why people are saying its cop behavior. no one was getting hurt (aside from the student maybe missing out on the extra practice). reporting it was petty.
reporting it may be petty (and maybe I did get heated a bit uselessly about it being fine) but I still think that the student shouldn't have done that. The point of assignments is to show your skills in different ways and different departments, it feels cheaty and lazy to just submit the exact same assignment, especially if they already did it before. maybe I'm mad for nothing, but if they're cheating, they should know they might get caught.

I can imagine LE reader telling son gojo (if Gojo happens to annoy her to a certain amount as usual) when he grows up and finds someone to date to avoid pretty people with annoying assholish behavior😭 like “son if you meet anyone who looks handsome or beautiful but they display any egotistical and self-centered behavior DO NOT fall for it! You turn the other way and run as fast as you can! No matter how good looking or funny and charismatic they seem, do not fall for it! It’s a trap!"
"But isnt papa the same way?”
“ I was a naïve young girl back then and fell for his charms"
*Gojo in the other room*: "Wha—?! I didn’t do anything???"
🥹🥹🥹 this is very much happening HAHA reader will roast him so hard while he’s eavesdropping and dying inside 🙂‍↕️

Thinking about Tenna's sudden crash out after the party gets past his parental locks and how he's suddenly a lot more openly assholish and thinking... Maybe he was using those locks as a bit of a crutch? Maybe it was easier for him to pretend everything was okay because the less "family friendly" aspects of himself were actually being artificially repressed until then? And suddenly, that safety net he uses to mask is gone and that's why all this anger and frustration and loneliness and resentment he's been building over the years of being left behind and forgotten suddenly starts pouring out of him, uncontrollably?
But being able to finally express all that in the end helps him! (as long as you recruit everybody, anyways) He's able to finally express years of built up negative emotions and stop being stuck in the past in a role that he had begun to outgrow as the people he loved began to outgrow him...
Like- I'm just comparing his behavior in Chapter 4 to him when he was trying to be the family-friendly charismatic game show host. This is man who joked about sensors killing him for saying the word ass turning around and calling Rouxlz Karrd's ass flat with no hesitation. It's implied via the puzzle solution and exposition we get that some of the parental locks were put there by Toriel specifically because of Dess' love of provocative music and once that's gone, he IMMEDIATELY looks at Mettaton and shows him those same videos. Things he wouldn't have been able to do if those locks were still in place.

Is it just me or does many YouTube videos defending Miss Medrano (and the comment section) completely miss why Miss Medrano and her shows are crticised?
They make it seem like everything is just surface level, that it is a witch hunt against a person people don't like - which, no?
Why does everyone think that?
So far what I've seen the criticism directed at both shows - *H*B* and *H*H* - was fair.
From stereotypes, bad excuses, bad pacing and execution of certain themes and so on.
And towards Miss Medrano.
Her behavior on social media, poor excuses, encouraging cult like behavior in the fanbase, lying and so on.
The last point - it seems to me that fans of the show or those who defend it, don't actually try to listen to any of our criticism or see why we are actually making it.
They just see us making a criticism or pointing out something and we are immediately labeled a hater or criticising in bad faith.
And...hear me out.
Just because a show has something unique, Doesn't mean it's flawless and without any mistake and pointing it out isn't hating.
Unless you're just hating on it for the sake of hating.
Just because the creator is a woman of any ethnicity and orientation, if they behave in any assholish way, criticism of said behavior is not sexist or racist.
Unless you're criricisng for the sake of being racist or sexist which I do not support.

Was I the asshole for not paying an ex-roommate money I supposedly owed them?
this happened several years ago and i have had 0 contact with this person. they tried to take me to court over this a while ago and i just started thinking about it again. i wont be reaching out to pay them this money at all.
my ex roommate and i (early 20s) were a very sudden living situation, their old roommate left suddenly (wasnt on the lease) and i moved several states to live with them after a weekend of conversation about it and a month or two of knowing them. i was not on the lease. i know this was dumb please dont comment just that.
we shared a one bedroom apartment with rent being about $1200, but i ended up sleeping in the living room most of the time. i was having severe mental health issues and struggled holding a job at the time, so i paid what i could towards rent each month but it was usually not half.
our third month together, roommate came into the apartment the day after paying rent. i had already sent them my portion. roommate said that rent had not been taken out of their bank account but they were certain they paid. i asked them to go to the office to check that it had been paid. they said they would not and hoped it would be a free month of rent.
turns out they had put the wrong account information on the electronic payment, and two days later we got an eviction notice on our door telling us we had to pay rent x2 due to the late payment. roommate starts freaking out, but at this point i was already making plans to move back in with my family. roommate gets a loan of $2400 from their mother with no input from me, and then demanded that i pay half of it.
i kinda brushed it off and when i left back to my families home they continued to email me, even sent me one saying they would press charges on me. i ended up blocking them on everything and ghosting them hardcore, so i dont know what/how they’re doing now.
i did a lot of other things at the time that were certainly assholish behaviors, and on the off chance anyone who recognizes this situation sees this: i know i did a lot of shitty stuff. however, im not asking about any of that, im only asking about this.
reasons i could be YTA: i already wasnt paying solid half of rent every month, i was doing a lot of other shitty stuff at the time, we were both struggling and i kinda left them out to dry so to speak.
reasons i could be NTA: they made the loan agreement from their mother with no input from me, i actively told them to make sure rent was paid with the office out of fear of this happening and they ignored it.
so yeah. was i the asshole for this?

mostly wanted to throw this out here because of stuff ive been seeing around here, but y'all know it's okay if someone asks to not be called queer, right?
that word (and frankly dyke and fag) are still being actively used to harm people, and the severity of the word changes based on the area and the background of who you're talking to. queer is still being used to harm people, esp in places outside of the US. and it's completely fine if someone doesn't want to be referred to as that or the other words.
obviously im someone who's in a situation in which using queer and dyke doesn't come with a negative connotation. but ive known a fair number of people who do feel that way, and it's a matter of respect to them that i dont use those words to refer to their identity. there are a multitude of reasons for people not wanting to be called that - notably, active harm or having to endure active harm ages ago - and it's more important to respect that than defend your right to say these words while refusing to acknowledge the harm they have caused and continue to cause
someone's ability to feel safe around you is more important than your right to call a total stranger a fag.
and as an aside, the fact that people are on here wanting to call Complete Strangers shit like dyke and fag?? i identify as a dyke, but if you come onto my blog as a total stranger and call me that, buddy you're getting blocked! 😃 because that's over-familiar behavior and again: people still use dyke negatively! so idgaf, don't call people you Do Not Know these things??? reserve it for people you know personally and who are fine with it???

Hope it's okay to join on your little snit but truly incredible how the Nein become *even better* people with the behaviour we're seeing from the Hells as a measuring scale. Like I still wanna say "that bunch of assholes" (affectionate) but truly, their levels on a comparative asshole scale seem smaller and smaller. The unsung heroes indeed. Look how wonderful they are, look at how far they've come <3
I was just thinking about this because like. the Nein were incredibly aware that they were a bunch of nobodies and nothings and assholes and thieves and liars. Subsequently, this lead to them having a group attitude of, "Well, who am I to judge?" when it came to both each other and other people. I find that a lot more copacetic with my preferences in fiction and that an attitude like that helps to combat these sorts of assholish behaviors of quasi-superiority we're seeing some of the Hells display. Like, the Nein don't really think they're above anyone (except, perhaps, in areas in which they've aggressively TRAINED to be better than others). They are acutely aware that they are NOT, in general, superior to others. I think that makes them, as a party, more grounded. They'll have their moments--not to entirely valorize them, though. i want to--but overall, I think their backgrounds make them less likely to take stances of superiority over others, which is what really irked me tonight from the Hells.
So yeah, they are wonderful and i love them very much <3

So I’ve been rewatching Red vs. Blue recently, and an interesting thought occurred to me.
It’s been well known pretty much since the beginning that a number of characters and story points in RWBY have drawn on elements from RvB. Ozpin draws a lot from the Director, we see very similar brutal deconstructions of ‘military hero’ tropes with Atlas, and of course Pyrrha’s similarities and notable contrasts to Carolina have been WELL documented and analyzed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So with that in mind, given that Taiyang happens to be voiced by Burnie Burnes, I have to wonder if Tai is likewise at least in part meant to represent something of a reinterpretation of Church?
For one, there are already a number of parallels that we can see, both with the Church we know in the show itself, as well as the background of the original Leonard Church who would go on to becoming the Director of Project Freelancer:
A lost love-interest that left him consumed with grief, some very abrasive and assholish behavior that we see with Yang, and being a dysfunctional fuckup of a father.
In fact, if we consider ‘Allison’ and ‘Tex’ (aka, the Beta AI fragment) as separate characters (which frankly they ARE), then we can even find parallels to Tai’s relationships with Summer and Raven respectively:
We can see parallels to the original Leonard Church losing Allison and being consumed by grief in Tai losing Summer. And we can see parallels to the implied heavily abrasive and dysfunctional relationship between Tai and Raven in the dynamic Church has with Tex in the show, particularly in how Tex always seems to leave Church behind.
Not to mention we can see some VERY strong parallels in both Church and Tai being unreliable narrators. Church in the sense that he himself could not remember, while it’s becoming more clear that post-V9, Tai has been withholding a LOT of important information from Ruby and Yang, just like basically EVERY adult in RWBY does with their students/kids.
Now to clarify, I do think that Tai is probably meant to be more of a direct parallel/reinterpretation of the Church we see in the show itself, rather than the Doctor Leonard Church we see in the Freelancer flashbacks*. And specifically the Alpha iteration of Church from the first six seasons of the show, rather than the more character-developed Epsilon from later seasons.
Essentially, I feel like Taiyang could represent a reinterpretation of the original, ‘classic’ Church we see in the Blood Gulch Chronicles, with the additionally fully-fleshed out background of his human-self.
Tai could be in part meant to give us a look at just who Leonard L. Church really may have been as a person, without all the obfuscation of the A.I.s or the outlet to his grief provided by Project Freelancer, or the narrative ‘buffer’ of being in a wacky, irreverent comedy story:
A man broken and consumed by grief who uses abrasive sarcasm as a defense mechanism, but whose abrasiveness puts a wall up to the people he cares about, all of which and more has led to him being a complete dysfunctional fuckup of a father to the daughter(s) who relied on him.
--
*Which is actually quite fitting, given that the Director wasn’t actually voiced by Burnie.

This person. I would like to study their brain. I legitimately cannot comprehend the level of vainglory required to barge in and say this.
I don't know this person.
There's a thing called social capital. It comes in many forms. Respect, admiration, love. Notably it requires a pre-existing relationship.
Some amount of social capital is required for people to take your opinions seriously.
Again, I don't know this person.
I'll refrain from pathologizing assholish behavior, but this just isn't acceptable social protocol, and frankly, just isn't going to get you what you want.

Nia in my opinion is kind of the opposite of messy? Sure she’s unapologetic, but it doesn’t come across as malicious unless you give her a reason? She just kind of seems like the kind of person who measures things in terms of efficiency and her own desire for it.
I don’t think that’s messy or even necessarily bad/mean/assholish?
In some ways she’s very blunt and in others she’s got more tact or subtly, and it’s quite literally because she’s whatever she has to be to get the results she wants. And she’s gonna do it without sucking up. Like Crown is an unreliable narrator, in fact if you think about it, every pov to ever exist is unreliable.
Nia is going to have different goals, priorities, morals, and fears. Which means every situation is going to be interpreted differently than MCs.
I think a lot of the criticism that Nia gets, stems from outdated ideas of how afab people should be.
Like because she’s a girl she’s supposed to come pre-installed with beaten down fifties housewife programming? That’s not to say career women and housewives are completely different species. It’s to say that people will be who they are or who they want to be regardless of whether or not it fits your idea of how it should be. And no one has clean cut emotions perfectly labeled at all times. Emotions are complex and quite frankly, she has amazing control over herself, especially when you take into consideration that she’s nineteen and has been aware of the fact that she’s been in danger of getting murdered for years now (not even taking into consideration that she thinks it could be her best friend that she may or may not potentially have feelings for, realizing it’s not them, or at least not just them. So now she may be wrong, and she took what essentially amounted to unnecessary precautions maybe but now you want her to feel sorry that she was trying to ensure her own survival? Come on now, be realistic). Oh, and the fact that her only parental figure is a workaholic that is way too obsessed with image. All things considered she turned out great.
And while it wouldn’t be the first word I’d use, when you take into consideration her behavior in general, she is unbelievably soft to MC sometimes in this time of frustration and conflicting emotions. Even verbally sparring, it’s not the same vibe as when she doesn’t like someone. Or even Imre. Like, even as he gets friend treatment and MC gets ignored, or whatever else people are complaining about, the way she’s written still gives the implication that MC is special, a special case, special to her, there’s this effort that seems to come across very well in the way she interacts with MC (effort to ignore, to push away, to not fall into old habits) that is not there for any of her interactions with any other character.
So yeah. I wrote this big long paragraph to essentially say: I wish people would get off Nia’s dick, like her, don’t like her, but Jesu fucking Cristo, can we stop acting like she’s the most unhinged, alien, indecipherable, devil woman to ever exist? She’s not even the biggest red flag in this game.
“Or even Imre. Like, even as he gets friend treatment and MC gets ignored, or whatever else people are complaining about, the way she’s written still gives the implication that MC is special, a special case, special to her, there’s this effort that seems to come across very well in the way she interacts with MC (effort to ignore, to push away, to not fall into old habits) that is not there for any of her interactions with any other character.”
This part though this why I love when you guys give me your own interpretation of characters because it makes me see things I haven’t before. She does make an effort to ignore, to push away, things that are hurtful but the key point is that ironically enough she makes more of an effort with Crowny than with anyone else even if it’s not a positive thing she’s doing. Kind of like that saying the opposite of hate is indifference. She’s trying so hard to be indifferent and that is contradictory because the whole point of indifference is that you don’t try you just are
I do think most people’s initial gut reaction has mellowed. Because it used to be that they saw that Crowny said Nia left them and they would refuse to listen to anything beyond that and just tell me how she was the devil incarnate. Now it’s more that the people who don’t like her at least can see why she believed she had to do this even if they still are angry about the abandonment which is great cause frankly I’ve explained all I could as it did feel at times that people wanted me to validate their hate for Nia by saying something that would make her seem worse and when I didn’t, it’s a whole thing. Like really you don’t need my validation to hate a character and I’m my side I’m not going to say something just to please

Moon in the Killswap AU, to go along with Sun! This Swap AU explores TSAMS if Sun had been the one with the killcode – and by extension, Moon is the one Eclipse manifests inside of.
The twins’ backstory is almost the same as canon. Moon was born with no control over the body, and was angry and lashed out at Sun for this (and was an asshole to pretty much everyone else when he did have control.)  Sun was afraid of him, but still tried to reach out. They came to an understanding, became brothers, and found a way to separate.
Where the backstory differed is with Sun. His killcode was like a switch that activated when he was pushed to a limit, reacting to abuse, mistreatment, the breaking of rules. Moon’s abuse was one of the things that could trigger Sun’s killcode, which emotionally destroyed Sun every time he came back to himself to find someone dead by his hands; during these early years, Moon was so bitter about his circumstances that he sometimes egged Sun on and mocked him for his efforts to not kill people.
But eventually, he knew Sun was not to blame, and wanted to change for the better. He wanted to help Sun suppress his Killcode. So, he separated them, so they could start a new chapter in their lives.
But Sun considered himself too weak to ever fully control his killcode – so while they were in the process of separating, he secretly snuck it through the datastream into Moon’s head, who he thought would never be affected by it.
And Eclipse manifested inside of Moon, who was “Sun” trapped alone within the mind of his abuser…
And a year later Eclipse shows up and begins his crusade to ruin the brothers’ lives and to find the Star to bring order to the world! While inside Moon, he starts amplifying Moon’s faults. He eggs on his abusive behavior towards Sun, his assholish behavior to others, and, one of Moon’s biggest struggles: his controlling nature.
Because these are all faults that Moon has, and Eclipse shines an especially strong light on them. This causes tension between the brothers as they try to figure out what to do, when Eclipse keeps hijacking Moon’s body in search of that Star.
(Especially when Sun’s killcode starts regenerating, and as with before, when Moon is abusive towards Sun, that is one of the big triggers to make the killcode’s influence stronger and stronger until Killcode as a sapient entity is strong enough to be born. For Sun’s arc, the killcode is like a metaphor for “taking revenge and hurting the people who hurt you back,” which Sun desperately wants to fight against.)
And so, one of the big parts of the AU is Moon having to learn to be a better person – to keep changing for the better -- to unlearn his abusive patterns. That will be the key.
Because one thing’s for sure: Sun is the most important person in Moon’s world. Even during the times when he hurts him, he still loves him more than anything. He vows he WILL protect Sun (and the rest of his family that come later), he will keep Eclipse from the Star so he can’t use it to kill them, he will save Sun when Solar is implanted in his head (and later, protect Solar when he is their brother), he will find a way to remove Sun’s killcode when it regenerates and becomes sentient.
(But it won’t be that easy. And, well, when things keep NOT going his way, Moon might end up with a very unhappy arc that ends in disastrous consequences the way it did for Sun when Sun killed Bloodmoon…)
And that’s an overview for Moon!
Some other notes:
Moon has very little knowledge of Magig. Sun is the master magic user.
Moon is the one who suffered July 16 because of the Blacksun Burn Twins, and boy is he mad at them.
Roxanne replaces Monty and is Sun’s close friend. Whether there is a crush or not, Moon still teases Sun about having a crush on Roxanne.
It’ll be fun to write how Moon interacts differently with Solar and Killcode when they control Sun’s body. (He first realizes Solar is in there when Solar isn’t good at acting happy and jittery like Sun.) (But he haaaaates Killcode’s guts sososo much you guys.)
(It will also shine a light on Killswap Moon’s difference between Old Moon and New Moon from TSAMS canon.)
That’s him! I should probably draw Eclipse next!
