Planning to try out Auctober again this October! Feel free to join in and draw for each prompt! List of prompts and their context below:
1: Red Instead - Instead of the blue puzzle piece as displayed by Autism $peaks, we light it up red instead!
2: Special Interests - Anything you love the most in your life!
3: Music - Music is always nice to listen to, especially video game music!
4: Comfort Food - Food is yummy. Fast food is even yummier because why wouldn't it be?
5: Stim / Verbal Stims - Stims include making mouth noises and waving your arms back and forth for comfort!
6: Stim Toys - Fidget cubes, spinners, squeezable toys, etc. -- they can be fun to use!
7: Sensory Euphoria - Some things can make you most happy, whether it's eating chicken with queso dip, seeing a light-filed city during night time, store candles with a good food-like smell, you name it!
8: Hyperfixation - One particular thing you're focused on so much! It can be the periodic table, a video game series, painting, anything you can think of!
9: Info Dumping - Wanna know what one thing is? Then you'll wanna be ready for a detailed explanation going at least 200-pages long!
10: Neurotypical Expectations - Neurotypicals expect an awful lot from autistic people. For all we know, some random guy might expect you to know how to build an aircraft carrier! Of course, that's just me haha
11: Jobs...? Where? - Obviously, there are TONS of open jobs available, but whatever jobs ARE open, workers and its managers expect you to work, and work, and work, and work, and work, and work...without considering your overall health at all, nor giving you a long-enough break to help you catch your breath physically and mentally.
12: The Outside World - Outside is scary. No matter how safe you are, there's a tiny chance something bad or worse will happen. Society can even expect you to be "normal".
13: Social Anxiety - It's hard enough making friends, let alone be an extrovert. Chances are, one could have sociophobia!
14: Self-Advocacy - Nothing about us without us! Seriously, neurotypical adults have talked about autism and didn't include autistics in the conversation. (got that from one of my Auctober 2023 drawings)
15: Self-Care - Self-care is important! Make sure to brush your teeth, eat and drink healthy, exercise and whatnot!
16: LGBTQIA+ - Autistic people are more likely to be LGBTQIA+!
17: Rainbow Infinity - Rainbows are a whole spectrum of colors! Same with the autistic spectrum--all sorts of different experiences!
18: Au-DHD - ADHD, but "A" is replaced with "Au" as in aurum, which is Gold in Latin. ADHD can mean one is hyperactive!
19: Too Much Energy - The energy builds up too fast and you just have to exercise to tone it down! Of course, the energy could vary, sometimes being suddenly energetic when you just need to sleep.
20: Out-of-Nowhere Info/Fact - Say you're doing a simple job like vacuuming. All you have to do is move the vacuum on the floor as you hold the handle, thus cleaning the floor. Simple, yes? Well, surprise -- some guy sucker punches you with random information such as "Hey buddy! Vacuums use more electricity when you turn the vacuum on and off rather than letting it stay on!" (I've actually been told that one time, and the info sounding unconfirmed to me, it just left me in a long mental stasis of confusion) Like, when did anyone ask for a detailed fact about something that's SUPPOSED TO BE SIMPLE? I don't have time to comprehend an entire page of info, I just like to keep things SIMPLE as you neurotypicals tell me to my face.
21: School Experience - Experience can include elementary school, middle school, high school, college -- You can explain a particular event or two during any of these time periods!
22: Routine - A little something every day or now and then to stay consistent! Daily tasks can included 3 meals a day, staying productive or such!
23: Unmasking - Unmasking is not easy. Defending yourself from the unpredictable world, trying to blend in with society -- it's exhausting! Let the autistic community just be what they wish to be already.
24: Autistic Viewpoint - How do you view the world as an autistic?
25: America (Derogatory) - This one might not need an introduction -- America, the "Land of the Free" and the "Land of Opportunities", sure likes to screw us all over! Police are too paranoid, justice is a load of baloney, daily gun violence anywhere and everywhere, dangerous bigots normalizing the R-slur, then you have big and popular figures here smearing the autistic community into a negative light...and the list of bad things never stops growing! A very cruel country, like not even cartoon villains are this mean-spirited! How is the autistic community supposed to exist in peace when the USA is basically nothing but trouble? Happy 4th of July, I guess...
26: Comfort Media/Games - A TV show or video game is always nice to play and keep calm when times get tough out there!
27: Fancy Wording - A series of five-dollar words can arrive rather than a simple "yes" or "not" to suffice. Sometimes, fancy words such as Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis can be fun to learn about!
28: Gold - Gold is part of the periodic table, atomic number 79! Light it up gold instead of blue for Autism Acceptance! 'Au' as in Aurum, and autism!
29: Neurodivergent Community - There's all sorts of Neurodivergent people worth seeing! They all have different experiences!
30: Autistic Pride - Autistic and proud!
31: FREE SPACE -- Explain any topic you wish!

ITS AUTISM ACCEPTANCE MONTH BITCHES
HAPPY AUTISM ACCEPTANCE MONTH TO ALL MY FELLOW AUTISTIC PEEPS!!!! I plan on making some art work for this month, but idk when it’ll be done, so hang tight.
To celebrate this wonderful month here’s some educational fun facts!
(1) While the puzzle piece is the most common symbol for autism, it is actually preferred by the community to use a rainbow or golden infinity sign, due to the ableist history of the puzzle piece. Namely, it was popularized by Autism Speaks, which is an ableist company whose views are extremely harmful to the community (I won’t get into it here, but it’s BAD)
(2) The Autism spectrum isn’t linear. There isn’t a “more” or “less” autistic, as there are so many facets to autism that vary person to person. The spectrum is more like a color wheel, with each color representing a different trait (eg, sensory, social, memory, motor, etc). The idea that there is a linear spectrum is mostly based on the “how well can you mask your traits so they don’t affect other people” mindset. (One person may struggle more with motor but not social, while another struggles with sensory but not motor, etc)
(3) AFAB people are frequently under/misdiagnosed. Because their traits present differently from boys (who were the only people studied in most autism studies, especially the ones that made the diagnostic criteria) their traits are often missed. Oftentimes, they are diagnosed with ADHD, OCD, AVPD, anxiety, or even eating disorders, and have to self advocate for a diagnosis to be pursued. I myself wasn’t diagnosed until I was a teenager (after over a year of personal research and self advocacy) while my brother was diagnosed at 5.
That’s all for now! Happy Autism Acceptance Month and have a great day!

ESTHER “ESTI” BAILEY ( COURTNEY EATON ) is a TWENTY-SEVEN year-old RESEARCHER/PHD STUDENT in DUNDEE, SCOTLAND. They were brought under Richard’s care when they were only SEVEN years old. They are known as THE SCHOLAR because they are CURIOUS but also DISMISSIVE. + PINTEREST. + PLAYLIST.
BASIC INFORMATION
full name: esther roxanne bailey nickname(s): esti, es, essie, roxy (by mrs. tristan) date of birth: november 8th, 1977 age: twenty-seven gender & pronouns: cis woman, she/her sexuality: demiromantic & bisexual occupation: paleontology phd candidate, researching in scotland current residence: a small cottage near her dig site in dundee, scotland. ocean view, gas stove, and very, very bad cell reception (by design).
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
hair: dark brown, almost black — slightly wavy, which was more apparent before she cut her hair into its current state (a haphazard bob she chopped herself because she doesn’t trust hairstylists. not one clue why).when longer, was typically pulled back into a ponytail or braid, currently let loose or tucked under a hat. eyes: dark brown, round and frankly a bit piercing. always inquisitive, usually cloaked in some type of judgment. they match her near perpetual frown. height: 5’10, approx. 6’0 if she chooses to wear her favorite sneakers (some type of running shoe with a platform. a fila perhaps. a reebok moment). notable features: previously mentioned Frown (downturned to one side, typically, always in thought); arrays of rings on each hand when she’s on her off days; long, lithe fingers covered in teeny scars from cooking; a look on her face that makes you feel as if you’ve done something Wrong
PERSONALITY & BEHAVIOR:
strengths: intelligent, observant, independent, competitive weaknesses: distant, awkward, judgmental, pretentious quirks: plays with her rings, and if they’re not there, fiddles with her fingers; walks very quietly, has a tendency to “sneak up” on people (she tells them to just listen better); she has a surprisingly good poker face when she wants to (typically, she doesn’t find enough energy to want to); prefers multiples of 5s; always begins her day with a cup of stupidly sugary tea, a brain game of sorts, and a new academic article she hasn’t read yet, printed out so she can mark over it with her green highlighter and pen. vices: sweets, particularly of the chocolate variety, but any will suffice. has never denied herself a sweet treat in her life; cigarettes; enough redbull that her heart is quite angry with her.
INTEREST & HOBBIES:
interests: paleontology, clearly, but specifically dinosaurs and early marine life; very much an animal person, currently has a chocolate lab named hershey and a maine coon named godzilla; the aforementioned king lizard himself, as well as other reptiles (specifically ones that seem to be living dinosaurs, such as komodo dragons or crocodiles); cooking, primarily as a form of stress relief and way of showing her love (as she’s quite bad at doing it any other way); the entirety of the jurassic park franchise hobbies: she enjoys anything that makes her brain work, including but not limited to: puzzles (sudoku, crosswords, jigsaw), brain games, chess, crochet/knitting, and solitaire. on the flip side, esti recognizes the importance of avoiding burnout, so she carves out time to play mindless games that still have an element of routine and fun to them, like:, animal crossing ), the sims, among others; cooking, trying new recipes and figuring out cool new ways to avoid or hide vegetables in her food (this is also kind of for practicality. she has sensory issues); makes miniature dioramas of various times in history (pre-paleolithic era); she collects bugs/creatures in amber and has a display case for them! special skills/talents: could have been good at volleyball or basketball, preferred to strategize rather than actually play; adept writer, has been on the author list of a number of published articles; good at doing math in her head; good at the aforementioned cooking; an innate ability to make people unsettled; sculpting miniatures for her dioramas
BECOMING A WARD
so do you guys know about the conscious baby meme. she was the conscious baby. no but really, esti gained richard’s attention when she was seven and had entered a science fair the woodrow foundation was putting on. she won, of course, but what really pulled him in was her quick wit, obvious intelligence tor her age, and her project itself: deep research on the fossils in her area, some examples she’d managed to find herself on the local beach, and a diorama of a mesozoic landscape, complete with detailed figurines of the flora and fauna. richard, upon talking to her social worker, found out that esther’s parents had given up complete parental rights when she was born, and she had been in the foster system for five years, since a failed adoption that ended when she was two.
LIFE AS A WARD
esti was always described as an “old soul” (she has autism), more preoccupied with her own interests and the knowledge she could get from richard and mrs. tristan than those her own age. a mildly haunting child, she learned how to mask the odd demeanor as she grew (not that she always does it, but it helped when she began to branch out into other groups). she never considered richard her father (as she so claims) or the wards her siblings, so she had no qualms with remaining a bit isolated, though there was never a shortage of blunt remarks or rolling eyes from her. esti kept mostly to herself, mrs. tristan, and richard, along with a select few others, always able to be found in her room doing something to feed the ever-hungry chasm that is her brain. any friction with the other wards was, to her, their problem (esti take accountability challenge. she says no).
AESTHETIC
esti’s fashion is understated in the way really annoying rich people’s is; baggy shirts, jeans, coats, sneakers, all simple but from designer brands. she wears sunglasses often and they’re usually perched atop her head, and all of her jewelry must always match (she prefers silver, but isn’t a stranger to intentional mixed metals). fav shoes include reeboks, new balances, and filas. a frequent uniqlo enjoyer. her array of rings changes every day to match her outfits, save for the one she keeps on no matter what (a gift from richard when she first became a ward that she had consistently gotten resized to fit her growing finger. no, she will not acknowledge that it’s sentimental, but she will freak out if she can’t find it). always somewhere between casual streetwear and adam sandler. it’s not that she wouldn’t enjoy being fashionable, she just … doesn’t care enough.
EDUCATION
esti stayed at woodrow for her secondary education, as it was practical and she knew the best teachers in the country flocked to teach there. she also didn’t really want to be around other people. after secondary, she went to Kingsbury College (again, because it was a practical choice), and studied geology with a minor in biology; she was valedictorian. following that, she got her master’s in paleontology at the university of edinburgh, which is also where she went on to begin her PhD work. she is currently working on her dissertation, which involves marine fossils and some type of unique sediment on the beaches of dundee (i do not know as much about this as her god knows I couldn’t name specifics)
EXTRACURRICULARS
growing up, esti was encouraged to try many different clubs and activities to get her to branch out. while she was never forced, she knew it would make richard happy, so she begrudgingly agreed. she spent a few years playing volleyball, which she was good at by virtue of being a tall kid, and attended various camps and clubs targeted towards gifted children (science camp each year was her favorite). it was a bit hard, though, as she grew out of each one very quickly and began detesting it even quicker. she stuck with sculpting classes and crafting classes, though, because it kept her busy and she didn’t have to talk much.
THEIR LIFE NOW
Esti has mainly been focused on her academics since leaving Woodrow at 18; putting all of her worth into one facet of her life means that’s all she really does. She rarely visited Woodrow, only returning at Richard’s request despite how he favored her. She last visited four years ago, when Richard threw a dinner in her honor to celebrate her acceptance into Edinburgh’s PhD program. Esti lives a solitary life with few close friends, and she prefers it that way (she’s lying she’s sooooo lying she wants companionship and true understanding she’s lyinggggg).

Hey! I hope you’re having a wonderful day. I was wondering if I could get a BG3 match up? 💜
I’m fairly motherly and quite sassy when I like to be. I tend to care too much for others to the point where I will end up destroying myself in the process out of worry. My best attributes are probably my loyalty to the people I love and my persistence. My worst attributes are probably my lack of confidence and my insecurity.
As for hobbies, I enjoy doing art as a way to express myself. I also enjoy walking outside during the nighttime. Puzzles are also incredibly fun for me since I enjoy theorizing and problem-solving.
I like the nighttime, warmth, physical touch, quality time, cats, playful banter, and cheese. It’s really important to me that friendships I make are built off of honesty and genuine likeness. I dislike loud noises, tomatoes, stereotypes, and people acting fake or lying.
When it comes to my sexuality, i’m pan and demisexual. I’m open to any gender, though I would much prefer a monogamous relationship.
Thank you SO much! And I genuinely hope you’re having a wonderful day. Take care of yourself. 💜💜💜
A/N: Don’t worry, I got your second ask as well! I have included the description below as a refresher (since you said your memory can be tricky at times) and so other people know what I’m referencing as they read my answer. I didn’t just make toritofrito’s attributes up people- I swear lol!
For you @toritofrito because you said you’re pan but specifically monogamous, I’ve made (who I think is) the best selection for you below:
Hi there! I submitted a previous BG3 ask but forgot some things! Sorry for forgetting some stuff, so here’s some additional info. And I do hope you’re having an amazing day/night! (Also, ahead of time, apologies if I repeated anything from my previous ask. I have some issues with memory.)
I am an INFJ with a 1w9 alignment. I tend to conflict with myself over the moralities of certain things, but I try to be a “peacemaker” of sorts, if that makes sense. Yet at the same time I do really enjoy the idea of adventure and freedom, and I tend to be open to different perspectives.
I also LOVE learning new things from different subjects. Some of my favorites being about international cultures and language. Its something i’m passionate about.
As for appearances, i’m 5”8 and have a lanky and curvy build. I also have shoulder length dark brown hair and amber eyes.
(Disclaimer: I’m unsure if whether or not I do have autism, and I definitely won’t self-diagnose myself with it until i’m sure that I have it.) I do struggle with sensory overload sometimes and get terrible social anxiety. I also have some PTSD. It would be nice if my partner would relate or be able to comfort in some sort of way (not that I wouldn’t return the same comfort). I also tend to struggle with properly communicating my emotions or ideas verbally, so someone who could be patient with me would be wonderful.
Again thanks so much! Take care of yourself and have a wonderful day/night. 💜

☸ Gale would be a great match for you!
He’s genuine and kind and always striving to be greater than he was the day before. I think you and Gale would get along well together. He’s quite ambitious and has a tendency to lose sight of himself in that ambition. Gale would do well with a partner who’s a bit motherly, as someone needs to remind him to take breaks from his learning or studying to feed himself/get enough sleep, etc. And while you said you tend to care for others so much to the point of neglecting yourself, you’d be able to relate to Gale’s overworking himself. But at the same time, because Gale is such a loyal and dedicated partner, I think he’d take it upon himself to do the same for you. If he notices you working so hard for others, to the point where you neglect your own needs, he’d sweetly ask you to stop, before spending his day or night pampering you, ensuring you’re taken care of.
As a wizard and a professor, Gale is all about learning and continuing to challenge the mind. I bet he’s an avid puzzler, and he’d love to have someone to share this hobby with, especially when it comes to solving literal puzzles with puzzle pieces. Tara is nice to talk things out with, but she can’t really contribute to those, having only paws to work with. I can see the two of you spending the early parts of the evening in front of a roaring fire, huddled over a table where a thousand tiny puzzle pieces sit scattered across the surface. You could snack on some good wine and cheese as you excitedly reveal the puzzle’s final picture. Once the sun fully sets and the stars come out, Gale would love to take you on a nighttime stroll around his tower. The nippy night air gives him an excuse to hold you close, plus he gets to infodump all he knows about the constellations to you.
I see Gale as an ENFP, which means he is very compatible with you as an INFJ. The two of you tend to be authentic yet idealistic, which means you can be very honest with each other, and that you both genuinely want to see the other person be the best version of themselves they can be. You also have a strong desire to do what is good/right, something Gale shares. Occasionally, his ambition may cloud his judgment, but I think your love will help ground him. With you at his side, Gale doesn’t need to become a God, he just needs to be a man worthy of your affection, something he strives to be every day.
He loves your willingness for adventure, and how open you are to learning new things like cultures and languages. He’s spent many years collecting knowledge and books dedicated solely to such subjects and would love to share them with you. Any book, any scroll in his tower- it’s now yours as well. Gale loves you so much, there is no story or fact or piece of knowledge he would not search endlessly to find should you inquire about it. He wants nothing more than to satisfy every one of your needs- the emotional, the physical, the intimate, and the intellectual.
Gale thinks you’re absolutely gorgeous with your enchanting amber-brown eyes and lovely hair. He offers to braid it or tie it up for you, even though he isn’t all that adept at hairstyling. He will try for you of course, but there’s a lot you’ll have to teach him in that department. (And if you want to get in Tara’s good graces, while you’re teaching Gale about haircare, maybe suggest he shave his beard every once in a while. Tara will thank you profusely if Gale was to ever show up to a family function clean-shaven, even once.) Plus Gale cares deeply about how you respond to his appearance. You could tell him he looks sexy in a cowboy hat once, and the next day come home to find one atop his head. He wants to always be someone you want because you are someone he always wants.
Even with your anxiety, and PTSD, Gale wants you to know he loves you, no matter what. And he understands how overwhelming things and people can get. He tends to be a bit awkward socially, much preferring Tara’s company to the company of strangers. So if things ever become too much for you, he’d gladly call it a night, and usher you away to a quiet spot to calm down. And he tries very hard not to rush you when you talk. He may butt in unintentionally, unable to keep himself from starting a ramble or two of his own, but he does his best to reign it in, and not interrupt your train of thought until you’ve said everything you want to say.
Gale is a very genuine and open lover, although he has made it clear he believes in monogamy- the full devotion of oneself to one’s singular partner. You can trust that his affections will not stray or ever become untrue. You are his future. Nothing, not Mystra, or the orb, or the parasites could ever take him from you. He promises a happy life, away from all the unintended madness, where the two of you can happily spend your days reading and learning and enjoying each other's (and Tara’s) company.

Yusuke got turned into a mouse. I wanna start there. Yusuke was a mouse.
Futaba's palace was LOOOOONG. It wasn't bad, just LONG and it had a lot of puzzles revolving around elevation, which Persona 5's map is just completely terrible at.
What was interesting was the narrative of the palace. Every once in a while, the Thieves would come across Shadow Futaba, who would try to lead them in the right direction, but if they immediately followed her, a trap would go off and try to kill them.
Which is a pretty effect blunt force metaphor for how Futaba feels. Wanting to invite people in and needing help, but having a lot of defenses and walls in the way.
Tumblr media
Eventually, there is a door in her palace that can only be opened from the outside, by Futaba allowing the Thieves into her room in the real world.
Tumblr media
Notigor out here handing out his fucking malware to everyone.
GOTTA SAY, she activates it and I'm like for real? she's a hacker, a random app shows up on her phone and she actually presses it? gurl.
Tumblr media
This is new; her Shadow actually shows up like 'sup' and has a really civil talk with her. Which makes sense, she is the one who literally reached out for help, wanting her heart stolen. The entire situation with Futaba is messy honestly. She's a willing target, she's already pretty okay with her Shadow, and it turns out that the thing that's cracking her psyche is a lie. When her mother Wakaba died, a bunch of shady dudes in suits showed up and read Wakaba's "suicide note" to everyone, claiming it was Futaba's fault she "killed herself."
mmm, sure jan.
Tumblr media
There's a truly fucking great sequence when Futaba does allow the Thieves into her room... but then hides in the closet instead and talks to them through it. She knows ALL ABOUT the Metaverse it seems because her mother was working on it.
So.
Wakaba was murdered for her research into this cognitive world, I'm assuming by the "future Prime Minister". We already know that mental shutdowns are happening around Japan. Maybe that's a weird side effect of whatever the Bad Guys are actually trying to do with the Metaverse. If you can alter people's thinking using this cognitive psience, that sounds like a powerful population control.
I'm not sure if P5 is gonna retread the ground that P4 already did and have the power of rumors and fame start to determine the course of reality, but I can see the bones of that being set up here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THIS MOMENT IS AMAZING. I like Futaba a lot. I was really shocked at her voice, I thought they would go for a much younger, immature voice given the visual design of her character, but Erica Lindbeck is doing STELLAR work with her.
(It took me a bit to place her but I know her as Jessie from FF7:Remake, and she's AMAZING.)
The Thieves give her the calling card and am-scray to go steal her Treasure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh wow that's a big mom
As with every time we pick up our mandatory sensory-persona user, we gotta have a hopeless boss fight where they come to the team's rescue and cement their usefulness.
This time is pretty fun though, so I don't mind the re-tread.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Given how we've seen in previous games how a Shadow that's rejected can turn violent real fast, seeing Futaba's Shadow talking her through her trauma is genuinely very touching. I think anyone who's got depression/anxiety and has to talk themselves down from the irrationality of your own emotions knows this feeling.
What's interesting is that usually Shadow's are a manifestation of the harshest edges a person has. Futaba's Shadow however is a manifestation of her own kindness towards herself. That's powerful shit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
YOU KNOW
I HAVE HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI: PERSONA 5: THE ROYAL BUT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE IT JUST GOES COMPLETELY OFF ITS SHITS AND PULLS SHIT LIKE THIS AND I'M LITERALLY CLAPPING
good golly miss molly, Tronification By Tentacle UFO is by far the best persona awakening we are ever going to see, that's a wrap people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now that the actual Mission Control character has arrived, I don't have to listen to Makoto do it anymore, yaaaaay.
Also there is a moment when, after the Monster Mom is defeated, the memory of the real Wakaba shows up to thank Futaba for remembering her as she really was, and they get to say an "I love you" and it's genuinely great shit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With their part of the deal complete, Futaba just fucking leaves to go handle her own, lmao. Peace out, bitches.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the palace starts collapsing because the heist is over, and we're not gonna talk about what the fuck happened with Morana's Van form voring the team! We're not talking about it!
I feel like that screenshot needs a content warning of SOME kind.
That's a wrap! Futaba immediately falls the fuck asleep afterward (which Sojiro says is actually normal for her, she'll just run her batteries down and then pass out for a few days apparently, lmao) and I have a solid 20-something days until the deadline.
When I assume Futaba will wake up and go "What? Oh, I'm Medjed, was that not obvious?" and everyone will act super shocked about this. I'm still p convinced on that one.
Sidebar: Matt Mercer (Yusuke), Erika Harlacher (Ann), and Erica Lindbeck (Futaba) are fucking killing it. I have yet to hear a bad performance from a Persona game, but these are extremely good performances. I am fairly sure that I would have less affection for the cast as a whole if I was playing without voice acting. It really elevates everything.

The Impact of Learning Resources Toys on Child Development
Tumblr media
Childhood, with its boundless curiosity and innate desire to explore, lays the foundation for a lifetime of learning. In this dynamic journey of growth and development, the role of learning resources toys cannot be overstated. These thoughtfully designed playthings transcend mere entertainment; they become essential tools in shaping a child's cognitive, emotional, and social capacities.
At the forefront of this developmental orchestra are building blocks, timeless in their simplicity yet profound in their impact. As children stack and connect these colorful blocks, they engage in a tactile exploration that fosters spatial awareness, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving skills. The seemingly simple act of play becomes a canvas for the development of fundamental cognitive abilities.
Educational puzzles, another cornerstone of learning resources toys, offer a cognitive workout that is as enjoyable as it is beneficial. Ranging from basic shape and color recognition to more intricate jigsaw puzzles, these activities stimulate critical thinking and logical reasoning. The joy of piecing together a puzzle goes beyond mere accomplishment; it is a celebration of mental acuity.
In an era where technological literacy is increasingly paramount, STEM-focused kits take center stage. These hands-on experiences introduce Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics concepts in a playful manner, cultivating a curiosity for the world of innovation. As children experiment and build, they not only gain practical knowledge but also develop a problem-solving mindset that is invaluable in the real world.
Interactive learning tablets, designed with the needs of young learners in mind, offer a tech-infused avenue for education. Age-appropriate apps and games provide a fun yet educational experience, reinforcing basic skills such as counting, letter recognition, and early language development. The digital realm becomes a supportive environment for early learning, preparing children for the technologically advanced landscape they will navigate in the future.
Artistic expression tools, from coloring books to drawing pads and craft supplies, nurture the creative spirit within every child. As they explore colors, shapes, and textures, they not only enhance fine motor skills but also learn to express themselves visually. The arts become a language through which emotions and ideas find a vibrant form of communication.
Language development games, in various formats like word puzzles, storytelling cards, and language-building board games, contribute significantly to the enrichment of vocabulary and communication skills. These games foster a love for language and storytelling, empowering children with the tools to articulate their thoughts and connect with the world around them.
Musical instruments, whether simple drums, xylophones, or keyboards, introduce children to the world of music. Beyond the joy of creating melodious tunes, these instruments enhance auditory discrimination and rhythm recognition. The language of music becomes a unique avenue for sensory development.
The holistic impact of learning resources toys extends beyond individual skill development. These toys also lay the groundwork for essential social and emotional growth. Cooperative play, as children engage in building projects together or collaborate on solving puzzles, instills teamwork and communication skills. The joy of shared achievements becomes a lesson in empathy and cooperation.
In conclusion, the impact of learning resources toys on child development is multifaceted and profound. By providing a diverse array of experiences, these toys become catalysts for cognitive, emotional, and social growth. In the realm of play, children discover not just the joy of the moment but also the building blocks of a future rich in knowledge, creativity, and interpersonal skills. Learning resources toys, in their various forms, become companions in the exciting journey of childhood—a journey where every play session is a step towards a brighter, more informed future.

Guess I could talk about how this game came about--playing and/or watching longplays of weird Japanese shmups like Parodius, Boogie Nights, Harmful Park, Cho Aniki, Space Invaders 95, and the less-weird-but-this-boss-is-cool Musha Aleste, I got frustrated with how the soundtrack was always drowned out by constant PEW PEW PEW PEW. That's right, the aesthetic might be an amalgam of 90s gaming, but the inspiration behind the gameplay is my issues with noise overload
Then when I heard about Twinbee's two-fisted spaceship player design I thought that might be fun. But NO, it turned out to just shoot lasers with its fists, which seemed like such a waste. Why not give the little guy a nice quiet melee weapon, I thought.
Tumblr media
And as for enemy design, shmups tend to have some pretty cool aesthetics, but I am SO SO SO bad at bullet-hell shooters; I'm gonna have puzzles and strategies and patterns, but AT NO POINT will it require pixel-perfect maneuvering. Like, I'm sorry, maybe it's just more of those sensory processing issues I mentioned a moment ago but this doesn't look fun at all to me (which is why there's a Touhou parody boss)

Tried out Oh Write's word sprints (described here) with an irl friend for a couple hours and it was so fun highly recommended and also if anyone wants to do some together some time I'd be down
She was writing for a fic she was previously working on and I just wrote a non-canon (but like, could be canon? Off screen canon?) one-shot for Slips of the Stars with a prompt that she came up with. We both wrote 1k+ woohoo
the unfinished oneshot under the cut (with some fake names for some currently unintroduced, unnamed characters lolll)
Slips asked for a simple gathering for her birthday. Well, asked may be a strong word for what really seemed to occur, which was Hero verbally strong-arming her into celebrating, rather than her previously desired arrangement to do nothing. Narratively, she was apparently forced to do this. Call it a special episode.
Anyways, the two roommates invited some people the two mutually knew to their little apartment, now only marginally cleaner and more put together than it typically is in preparation for their arrivals. Hero (with Slips’ insistent help) put up some Dollar Tree decorations along with whatever decoration-y items they could find around the apartment—paper clips strung together, paper plates with doodles on them, bandaids stuck to the wall to form the letters “KAASEY” in the kitchen. Slips noted that a few of Hero’s…fabric creations somehow snuck into the fray as well, imperfect loops and spirals in misshapen masks proudly expressing their mediocrity over the television stand. She supposed that she’d let Hero win this battle, just this once.
As to not rack up money on their already meager combined funds as the epitome of “broke college student”, the two called for a potluck arrangement, asking guests to bring some type of dish rather than a gift. (though Slips wouldn’t necessarily say she was opposed to receiving gifts.) To this, there were varying responses. All positive just…puzzling, perhaps. Deetee seemed thrilled by the prospect, telling Hero to leave dessert to her. H said he’d “pull something together” once he figured out some strange noise his apartment roommate was making, which seemed like a can of worms on its own. K was told he didn’t really need to bring anything, especially since his sister was coming, but he very excitedly claimed he was making “something that’ll blow their socks off” anyways. Xeno just gave a thumbs up with no indication of what she was going to bring. Only Alcamus seemed to give a normal response, claiming that she was going to be busy that day but would drop by with some pizza if she wasn’t swept by her shift or studying.
There was still perhaps half an hour until the designated start time for the small celebration. Slips, despite being the figure of celebration, did make sure to bring her own contribution and already had it laid out on their small table. Plastic utensils, napkins, and paper plates. She managed to find some plates that were cow themed, which was, of course, an instant grab for her. Were they meant for kids? Perhaps, but it added to the comedic element of the story, which is a necessary for breaking the ice and tension in a scene. Obviously, it’s how the narrative would want it to be.
She sat there in front of the table now, idle on their couch, waiting for the festivities to start. She picked at a loose thread on the armchair of the couch, the frayed, green-gray edges exposing the age that brought it to the thrift store prior to their home. The hum and gurgle of electronic cooking equipment, as well as the strong scent of food engulfing the kitchen created a sensory hodgepodge that made Slips already start bemoaning the inevitable headache that was going to arrive with the guests and all of their loud, distinctive energies.
“Slips!” Her eyes leisurely crawled over to the attention of the kitchen, where Hero was poking her head out, beckoning Slips with a cheap mitted hand. “Come over and try this to see if you like it.”
She hoisted herself out of the sofa with a sigh, joining her roommate. The room seemed even more claustrophobic than normal with the messy scatter of cans, pots, pans, and other materials assorted among their countertops. They seemed to take up every bit of room and then some more, stealing away whatever other spare area Slips didn’t even know they were capable of stealing.
Hero seemed unbothered by the mess and the tight spacing as she grinned at Slips, pride beaming through her toothy smile as she led her over to the electric stove, a tall dark pot making itself known against their plain white walls. Hero opened the lid with the mitted hand and peered in, letting free the scent of some mixtures that Slips couldn’t quite identify, but was still tantalizing enough to get her thinking about the last time she ate today. Or yesterday. Whenever she made that microwavable mac and cheese “meal”. Hero, seemingly satisfied with what she saw, set the lid down atop some discarded cardboard packaging and stepped aside, beckoning Slips forward.
Slips leaned over the pot and immediately hissed as the heat hit her face, her lenses filled with steam. Behind her, she could hear a quiet chuckle, which she threw a backwards glare at (with a childish tongue out) then turned back to the pot to smush her palm against her face, pushing her glasses atop her head, and peer in.
It was a stew, though it was hard to tell what type because of the weak overhead lighting in the kitchen revealing little about the broth’s color. She spotted some stringy pieces of chicken, aromatically identifying them as chicken, floating alongside some chopped and diced vegetables. She couldn’t help feeling a bit of surprise, followed by fondness, for how much effort Hero seemed to put into making the meal just for celebrating her birthday. It was certainly miles beyond the amount of effort Slips typically put into any meal she made for herself.
“Sancocho.” Hero supplied from behind. Slips turned back towards her voice. She still looked pleased with herself, but it was now softened with a fondness in the corners of her mouth. “It’s like the perfect everything food. At least, in my home it is. This isn’t as fresh, since I had to used canned ingredients, but I think it works good enough for now.” She stepped forward to the pot, bumping a toned arm to Slips’ smaller arm with the tight spacing, produced a ladle from somewhere beyond the pot where Slips couldn’t see, and dipped it in the pot, producing a steaming, overflowing sampling.
“Here, try some.”
Slips looked at the soup with something akin to repulsion. “Like…all of it?”
“What else?”
She inspected the ladle again, then gingerly took a more appealing part from the scoop, a piece of chicken, and popped it in her mouth.
“That’s pretty good. Well seasoned.” She mused, then looked towards Hero, who seemed to be giving her a narrow eyed look of bafflement. Or disdain.
“You know, the soup part of the soup is part of the experience.” She stated.
“I don’t. Like. Non-solid-y things.”
Hero huffed. “Of course not.” The burning feeling of guilt sliding through Slips chest suddenly felt way worse than the imagined discomfort in consuming broth. Slips grabbed the ladle from Hero’s hand to bring to her lips, but stopped short with a shout from Hero and a hand over Slips’ mouth.
“WAIT, it’s still hot.” Hero said.
“Oh.” Slips said, dumbly.
“Did you burn yourself?”
“I didn’t actually get to try it.”
“You don’t have to eat something you don’t want, you know. It’s fine.” Hero said.
“Can I just…get, like, the stuff in it? Like the chicken and veggie and stuff?”
Hero let out another little huff, but this one seemed to be humored, with a smile pulling at her lips. “Yeah, sure. Picky.”

A Gleam of Water Darkly
For @tawnyontumblr, because she asked for it.
This is a snippet from my WIP A Gleam of Water Darkly, which is a Our Flag Means Death AU, set in the world of Pirate of the Caribbean, (before the time of Jack Sparrow) because I wanted a world with magic, and water spirits, and curses, and all of that fun stuff. It has a happy ending, I promise.
-------
A movement caught Stede's eye and he spun, a gasp escaping him at the sight of a horse standing in the water near the shore. Although calling it a mere horse was like calling a diamond a hunk of glass. This creature was a stunning vision of gleaming white, silky strands of the mane and tail streaming down with nary a tangle, coat gleaming impossibly brightly in the dim light. It almost seemed to be shimmering, lean muscles flexing as it shifted in the water. Black eyes regarded him with wariness. It tossed his head, sending its shimmering main rippling through the air as Stede took an involuntary step forward.
Before he knew it he had stepped close enough to touch, his hand sliding along that impossibly silky smooth mane and—
~Run, run, run, free, wind, run, run, run~
Images blasted through his mind of flying through the undergrowth, bursting free of the trees and running fast, oh so fast, insignificant animals scurrying away from our hooves—
He stumbled back, gasping as he broke contact, nearly falling. The—mind—if the maelstrom of raw sensory data could be called that—threatened to engulf him. But the last image that had flashed through his mind from the creature was of a skeleton tucked into a large bed, surrounded by treasure somewhere underwater. That had to be it, what he and Ed had been searching for!
“Where is that?” he asked eagerly. “How can I get to it?”
A toss of the mane into the air, as it pranced closer, as if in invitation. Stede cautiously touched his fingertips to its flank, more prepared now, for the alien emotions and images that his brain translated into words.
~Ride, run, free, run run run~
“You’ll take me there?”
A pulse of agreement filled his mind, colored with wild eagerness. This had to be the Baekhest the farmer had spoken of. He had talked of it being extremely dangerous, but small towns were full of superstition, and the other water spirits had never hurt him, had helped him even. Surely his ring would protect him, as it always had done.
“Will you hurt me? Or ah, kill me?”
The Baekhest shook its head, which was a strange gesture to see on a horse-like shape. ~No no no, can’t~
Well. He had come this far and would not be deterred. Ed desperately needed something that was in that treasure trove, and Stede would be damned if he let the pirate endanger his life by continuing to pursue it.
“Come on then. Maybe I can stand on that chest over there to mount you.”
The creature’s hooves splashed in the shallow water as it pawed at the ground and shook its head violently. Stede looked at it, puzzled, then understanding flashed through him. “You can’t leave the water, can you?”
The Baekhest settled, as if in agreement. Stede sighed. Maybe he could convince the creature to kneel or something. He stepped forward into the water, his ringed hand reaching out. The Baekhest held itself perfectly still, watching him.
As soon as his hand made full contact, ~Run run run fast~ his fingers jerked into a fist around the silky mane. He could almost feel the wind in his hair—mane—as his other hand found its way unbidden to the creature’s neck. ~strong, powerful, fierce~
Strength flooded him the likes of which he had never felt before, coursing through his veins like quicksilver that burned. Without thinking about it, he tightened his grip and easily swung himself up on the creature’s back.
Fierce exultation flooded him as the Baekhest stepped forward onto dry land, and reared up as if in victory. ~Run, hunt, joy, rend~ Images hurtled through his mind—hunting down our prey, the satisfying crunch of bones between our strong teeth—
Too late, he realized he had made a terrible mistake. He needed to get off—but he couldn’t make his legs move. They were frozen as if he was a part of the Baekhest now.
“No! No! This isn’t what I wanted!” He struggled against the wild, monstrous pressure of the otherworldly mind battering against his, threatening to swallow him whole.
His last despairing thought was Edward, I’m so sorry. I’ve failed I’ve failed you, as the Baekhest whirled to plunge into the pool and the water enclosed over his head.

**Unbelievable Claim: Chewing Bubblegum Enhances Problem-Solving Skills** Greetings, my esteemed readers! Rufus T Flywheel here, your guide to the curious and the extraordinary. Today, we delve into the realm of unfathomable possibilities, challenging the norms and unlocking the potential of a seemingly ordinary act - chewing bubblegum. Yes, you read that right. The claim on the table today is as bizarre as it sounds - can the simple act of chewing bubblegum enhance our problem-solving skills? Join me on this whimsical journey as we explore the depths of this puzzling assertion and unravel the mysteries that lie within. Let's start by pondering the very essence of bubblegum. A delightful concoction of sugar, gum base, softeners, and flavorings, bubblegum has been a playful indulgence for generations. It's synonymous with carefree moments, childhood nostalgia, and colorful fun. But what if I told you that behind its sugary facade lies a secret power waiting to be harnessed? Studies have shown that chewing gum can have surprising effects on our cognitive abilities. The rhythmic motion of chewing has been found to increase blood flow to the brain, potentially boosting alertness and concentration. It can also promote the release of certain neurotransmitters like dopamine, which are linked to mood enhancement and cognitive function. But how does this translate to problem-solving skills, you may wonder? Let's delve deeper into the connection between chewing gum and mental acuity. Some researchers suggest that the act of chewing gum can help reduce stress and anxiety, creating a more relaxed mental state conducive to clear thinking. By keeping the mind engaged and active, chewing gum may enhance cognitive processes like memory recall, information processing, and decision-making. Imagine sitting down to tackle a complex puzzle or a challenging task. As you chew on your favorite bubblegum, the sensory experience awakens your senses, sharpening your focus and stimulating your brain. The subtle act of chewing becomes a rhythm, a cadence that guides your thoughts and propels your problem-solving efforts forward. Moreover, the act of chewing itself can be a form of sensory stimulation, providing a sensory input that can help individuals stay attentive and engaged with the task at hand. The repetitive motion of chewing can serve as a rhythmic anchor, grounding the mind in the present moment and facilitating a state of flow conducive to creative thinking and problem-solving. But let's not overlook the psychological aspect of chewing gum. The simple pleasure of chewing bubblegum can evoke feelings of joy, nostalgia, or comfort, eliciting positive emotions that can have a direct impact on cognitive performance. By associating problem-solving activities with positive sensory experiences, such as the taste and texture of bubblegum, individuals may be more motivated and inclined to approach challenges with a sense of curiosity and playfulness. Of course, it's essential to approach this claim with a healthy dose of skepticism and critical thinking. While there is some evidence to suggest a potential link between chewing gum and cognitive enhancement, the research is still in its early stages, and more rigorous studies are needed to establish a definitive causal relationship. Furthermore, not all types of gum may have the same effect, as the composition and ingredients of the gum can influence its cognitive benefits. Sugar-free gum, for instance, is often recommended for its dental health benefits and may be a more suitable option for those looking to reap the cognitive rewards of chewing gum without the added sugar. So, should you rush out and stock up on bubblegum to boost your problem-solving skills? The answer, my dear readers, is a resounding maybe. While chewing gum may not hold the key to unlocking all your cognitive potential, it can certainly add a playful twist to your problem-solving routine and infuse a dose of lighthearted fun into your daily tasks. In the end, the true power of chewing bubblegum lies not in its purported cognitive benefits but in the joy it brings, the memories it evokes, and the childlike wonder it inspires. So why not indulge in a piece of bubblegum now and then, savoring the sweet taste of possibility and embracing the whimsical notion that the most extraordinary discoveries can come from the most unexpected sources? As we conclude our exploration of this unbelievable claim, let us remember that the world is full of marvels waiting to be uncovered, and sometimes, all it takes is a little bubblegum and a lot of imagination to see beyond the ordinary and into the realm of the extraordinary. Until next time, keep chewing, keep pondering, and above all, keep believing in the magic of the unknown. Yours in curiosity and wonder, Rufus T Flywheel

Imagine the joy in your dog's eyes when they find a hidden treat. The excitement they feel solving a puzzle toy, or the happiness of a new walking path. Giving your dog mental challenges taps into their natural curiosity and smarts. This makes them happier and more content. Whether you're hiding their favorite toy or doing training exercises, these moments strengthen your bond. Dogs bring us endless joy and friendship. It's only right we give them experiences that make their minds work and satisfy their desire to explore. Key Takeaways Hide-and-seek games are highly stimulating for 83% of dogs. 68% of dog owners say scent walks reduce stress in their pets. Puzzle toys keep 72% of dogs mentally engaged and less anxious. 43% of dog owners use frozen treats for mental enrichment. 64% of owners rotate toys to keep their dogs interested. Introduction to Mental Stimulation for Dogs Challenging your dog's brain is key to keeping them happy and well-rounded. Just like humans, dogs feel a boost of happiness when they learn something new. This mental exercise helps prevent bad behaviors like too much barking or chewing things they shouldn't. Short training sessions are great for keeping your dog's mind sharp. Just 5-10 minutes a few times a day can make a big difference. These sessions are especially good for older dogs who may need special help due to their age. It's important to mix up the activities you do with your dog. Try things like scent work, agility training, or interactive toys. These activities are fun and help improve your dog's thinking skills and memory, especially for older dogs. There are many ways to keep your dog's mind busy and happy. Activities like hide-and-seek and puzzle feeders are great for keeping them engaged. Adding these activities to your dog's daily routine can make them a happier, healthier pet. Hide-and-Seek Games for Dogs Hide-and-seek games are great for dogs, using their natural instincts and boosting their brain power. They are perfect for both mental and physical fun. Start by hiding treats or toys for your dog to find. Using Treats and Toys Adding treats or interactive dog toys makes hide-and-seek more exciting for your dog. Dogs like labrador retrievers are naturally good at this because they have a strong sense of smell. Using commands like "sit/stay," "come," and "find" is key for a fun game. As you hide treats in harder spots, your dog learns to solve problems and stay sharp. Start the game indoors to build confidence. Use treats or toys as the hidden objects. Gradually increase the difficulty of hiding spots. Transition to outdoor environments for more challenges. Owner Hide-and-Seek Playing hide-and-seek with you can make your bond stronger. Use commands and give treats when your dog finds you. This game improves your dog's tracking skills and brings you closer together. Begin with simple hiding spots. Encourage the use of scent to find you. Involve family members to increase engagement. Use non-verbal cues as your dog improves its skills. Start these games indoors or take them outside to your yard or dog park. Using treats and interactive dog toys makes the game fun and challenging for you and your dog. Interactive Dog Toys for Enrichment Interactive dog toys are made to meet a dog's need for both mental and physical fun. They help with sensory and occupational enrichment, which are often missed by pet owners. Let's look at two great types: puzzle toys and chew toys, both great for doggy IQ boosters. Puzzle Toys Puzzle toys keep your dog's mind sharp. They need focus and problem-solving skills, making them perfect dog puzzles. The Nina Ottosson by Outward Hound Hide N Slide Puzzle Toy is a level two game that challenges dogs to find and open compartments for treats. The Kong Wobbler is another great choice, giving treats as your dog moves it around, promoting both physical and mental work. Chew Toys Chew toys are great for oral health and keep dogs busy. The Kong Classic is known for being tough and versatile.
It comes in many versions, from soft for puppies to hard for tough chewers. These toys keep dogs focused and mentally sharp by making them work to chew. Type of Toy Example Key Features Puzzle Toy Nina Ottosson by Outward Hound Level two difficulty, treat compartments Puzzle Toy Kong Wobbler Treat dispensing, weighted base Chew Toy Kong Classic Durable, multiple versions for different dog needs Adding dog puzzles and chew toys to your dog's daily life can really improve their thinking and happiness. Whether it's a tough puzzle or a long-lasting chew toy, these doggy IQ boosters are key for a happy and full life for your pet. Mental Stimulation for Dogs During Walks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDLkqe23Pkc Taking your dog for a walk is a great way to keep their mind sharp and active. By using different techniques, you make their day more interesting and strengthen your connection. Let's look at ways to keep your dog's mind busy during walks. Scent Walks Scent walks are a fun and easy way to keep your dog's mind active. Letting them sniff and explore different smells uses their natural instincts. Dogs have a much stronger sense of smell than humans, so sniffing around is a great mental workout. Walking at a slower pace lets your dog take in all the smells. This can make them less stressed and happier. Experts suggest walking 70% and sniffing 30% to keep things balanced. New Walking Routes Trying new walking routes is another great way to keep your dog's mind sharp. New sights and smells keep them curious and excited. This helps prevent boredom and keeps their mind active. Exploring different places, like parks or trails, can really help. It makes walks more interesting and mentally stimulating for your dog. Here are some interesting facts to consider: Aspect Statistics Walking Frequency 4 out of 10 people do not walk their dogs regularly. Walking Duration Dog parents average five hours of walking per week, equivalent to 11 days a year. Exercise Benefits Walking with a dog meets the 150 minutes of moderate cardiovascular exercise per week. Stress Relief Walking with a dog offers more stress relief than walking alone. Knowing these facts can help you make your walks more engaging for your dog. This ensures they get the mental stimulation they need for a happy life. DIY Dog Puzzles and Enrichment Activities Adding DIY dog puzzles to your pet's daily life is a great way to keep their minds sharp. These puzzles help prevent boredom, stop bad habits, and boost problem-solving abilities. Here are some easy and fun DIY dog puzzles and activities. Toilet Tube Treat Dispensers: Use cardboard tubes to hide treats like peanut butter or hard dog kibble. You can make it harder by hiding the treats better inside.
