Hot Chocolate Recipe (Indulgent)

WITH IT GETTING COLDER OUT, AND SOME PEOPLE BEING IN AREAS THAT ARE GONNA GET SO COLD ITS SCARY
HERE’S A LITTLE COMFORT RECIPE I LIKE TO USE WHENEVER I WANT A GOOD HOT CHOCOLATE
You’re gonna need:
- Milk (I prefer whole), about a cup.
- Chocolate. Any kind. I use Hershey’s chocolate. For a tame recipe, I recommend about 1.5 ounces of chocolate per 1 cup milk. Fuck that. I use the whole bar. Diabeetus.
- Ice cream (Any flavor, as long as you think it goes well with chocolate.) + a preferred ice cream scooping tool
- A mug (duh)
- A saucepan and a whisk (sorry babes. Put on the big boy pants cause we’re using the stove)
PREP TIME
Get everything out and/or measured. You’ll want your ice cream on the counter and the spoon near it. If your ice cream is hard, microwave it for a little bit just to soften it enough to scoop. But don’t melt it! You want it cold.
Take the pan. Put it on the burner. Put it on low heat.
Take your chocolate. Break it apart. Throw the chocolate in the pan. Use your whisk to move that chocolate around so it won’t burn as it melts.
Once your chocolate is good and melted, pour in the milk. Start mixing until things start to come together. Increase heat to medium-low. Keep mixing. Keep on mixing until everything is a uniform color. Then mix more until you bring your milk to a very low simmer (Do not boil!).
Turn off the burner.
Get your mug. Get your ice cream scoop. Put 2-3 nice scoops of ice cream in that mug.
Take your freshly made hot chocolate. Pour that shit into the mug. Mix.
Your hot chocolate is now cooled down enough to immediately drink and will have a nice smooth texture. The more chocolate/ice cream you use, the richer the flavor.
I don’t make hot chocolate often. But when I do, I treat myself. So y’all should treat yourselves too because the cold weather is a bitch and sometimes a nice mug of hot chocolate makes things a little better.
BONUS:
You can also make a coffee version of this! Just substitute about 1/2 of the milk with fresh coffee (a bit stronger than usual, its gonna get diluted) and do the rest as usual. Bring it all to a nice simmer and pour over the ice cream. Used to do that for my mum.
