How do you write gore? I am interested in this process.

alright okay so. this got long and i also mention some brief examples of gore in there. i hope its somewhat helpful?? or at all?? im not sure. im not great at giving advice im sorry

gore is something very precious and intimate to me. i feel like i approach it in a way people would approach a tender smut scene. because its the same to me. its being able to peel back someones little layers. to be inside them. to know them. to know them better than they know themselves, because honestly, when was the last time you took a peek at your own kidneys? yeah i thought so. gore too takes two or more people because whatever gore you can inflict on yourself is Nothing compared to the tender intimacy of someone else digging around in your stomach. its vulnerable. its beautiful.

as for literal descriptions, i always try to get very visceral with it, because i feel like it deserves detail and long drawn out paragraphs of description. there are so many sensations and sounds and sights and smells to describe. i cant write super detailed smut but i can write the exact way someone would reach inside someone else's ribcage and slide their fingers under the bone to caress their lungs. its just so much more comfortable to me. it feels like home.

i look at tons of images of specific elements of gore i want to write, real images, drawings, medical illustrations etc. when i can, i watch surgery videos on it. i want to know what it's like so i can write it as best as i can.

i like to relate it to my own life too. shout out to my 5th grade literature teacher who said "whenever i think about being burned at the stake, i like to imagine how much it hurts when i accidentally burn my hand on the clothing iron or stove. and thats just a moment, and a small surface." she was so real for that. breaking every bone in someones body? think back to that time u broke the tiniest bone in your wrist at age 11 and your entire arm went numb. putting needles in someones fingers? blood draws, or pricking yourself while sewing, but times ten or a hundred. and if you really cant relate it to yourself, read about it, read the symptoms, read the accunts of ppl who HAVE gone through it, try to really imagine it.

and dont forget about shock. shock is one of the best parts of gore to me. because you will probably go into shock when you see your severed arm (shout out to the medical instructor who taught us first aid on my drivers course).

idk. gore is something so precious and important to me. it just sucks me in, it feels like writing a long unhinged love letter as an obsessive lover. every time.

and that doesnt mean i condone gore or think its morally awesome to dismember someone. but you can write it that way from a whumper's perspective. but you can also write whumpers who dont really like it but have to do it for whatever reason. whumper pov is good if you dont want to try and explain how itd feel. some things i like to consider: is this the first time whumper does this? does it make them giddy with excitement? or is this the thousandth time and its just work to them? do they like what theyre doing? is it a means to an end or is it for fun? do they have any medical knowledge?

then of course you can write it from whumpee's perspective, which might be good for not going into anatomical detail. whumpee doesn't really see whats going on, most likely. and there's so much blood! it's their blood! theyre not thinking about anatomy, theyre thinking pain pain pain pain PAIN PAIN PAIN. some things i like to consider: has whumpee ever gone through something like this? is this the first time they're seriously hurt? is it the thousandth? and if it is the thousandth, how does it compare to the previous times? how is whumpee's pain tolerance? are they afraid of dying? do they have any medical knowledge, can they kinda gauge how bad the damage will be?

you can bring in a third observer, write it from their pov. itll be vastly different every time based on that character's own feelings towards gore, towards the two or more people involved, etc. there are so many ways to depict and explain what gore looks and feels like.

when i write gorey stuff, i like to just get it all out in a first draft, then go back and do some "realism checks" (this might not be smth you want at all and thats okay :) ). not medical accuracy or anything, but i like to go back and think okay, this character is getting their eyes plucked out, would they really be snarky during the process? maybe not! lets take that out. gore is smth that is usually rly far removed from your life/experiences, so it takes effort to write it in a way that feels authentic.

in any case, just have fun and remember fantasy gore hurts no one :)

OKAY SO I JUST FINISHED ACT 3 AND HOLY SHIT I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS AND THOUGHTS AND WORDS FAIL ME BECAUSE HOT DAMN MY BRAIN THINKS FASTER THAN IT CAN COMPREHEND A LOT OF THE TIME SO I'LL TRY MY BEST TO GET ALL MY THOUGHTS OUT. Fair warning, this might be very, very long. So for starters, the way Chapter 11 Started with memories which, at first didn't make it obvious we were seeing Sunset's Memories was done absolutely fantastically. Like, it was a wonderful build up cause at first I didn't even question it, but then the moment she broke in I realized it couldn't have been Twilight's, and then as the chapter progressed it was more and more clear and it was so wonderfully executed and knowing my guess was right as I read got me so pumped up to see where everything went. AND THEN WITH THE REVEAL OF CELESTIA REMOVING TWILIGHT'S MEMORIES OF ████ WAS SO WELL HANDLED! Like, I thought it was ████ at first, but then my own paranoia had me second guessing but then I was right and it was incredible and I was so curious to see what happened to her. AND THEN CHAPTER 12 INSTANTLY EXPLAINING IT AND GOING INTO DETAIL OF WHAT HAPPENED TO HER BROKE MY HEART! And just knowing that ████ is still gone (I have yet to finish the Epilogue so I dunno if that changes) hurts still! BUT THE WHOLE BUILD UP TO EVERYONE BECOMING FRIENDS AND USING HARMONY TO SAVE SUNSET AND THE WHOLE THING AND SORRY THE EXCITEMENT IS STILL RUSHING THROUGH ME!! Honest to god this has been such a wonderful thing to read, and apologies I cannot comprehend coherent words at the moment. But all and all, The Twilight Effect has been one of my favourite reads ever, and I look forward to giving you my (hopefully coherent) full thoughts after the epilogue!

and c12 was the “big reveal”, which im still super happy how it turned out! i got to play w diff mediums for storytelling a bit w “whitespace” (technically black lol) and using a comic instead of written word, which was a lot of fun :D figuring out exactly what happened in the past between celestia, twi, nd Someone was always going to b the “climax” of c12, and it was such a relief to finally get there in the end, as well as figure out a way to “show, not tell” the whole thing to still make it interesting

Klapollo means so fucking much to me because it's a ship that is built on this idea of trust at its very core, which is smth ace attorney tackles a lot overall but like you can see it very pronounced in them. klavier goes through some of the most emotionally taxing shit and apollo isnt there necessarily to like, for lack of a better word hold him through it, but what he CAN do is make sure the truth comes out. and that justice is served. and that gives him this stability with klavier when klavier (espec the way i headcanon him which is a diff story lol) does Not Have That Fucking Stability In Life. and then with Apollo it's like he's been through so much in his life abandoned over and over again and even though Klavier is kind of withdrawn and debatably a coward about things and just Complicated, he respects Apollo and he cares about the truth and hes not like, going anywhere. you know?

i think there are many ways to view them, i really like this idea that the two of them get together like normal ppl unlike their fucking insane childhood friends to rivals to friends to clearly gay lovers etc bosses, but i also do think an angstier approach is interesting of like. a long distance kind of thing? the two of them having to work through their shit and as they do finding this fondness for each other and then one day it clicks in Apollo's head "oh. I love him." and for Klavier who is the type to fall quick (imo) he always knew he liked him and even loved him but one day he has the moment of oh. Oh this. This is Different (and i think Apollo is more shocked to realize he loves Klavier than the opposite, though both are equally shocking. Klavier by far is more surprised to hear that Apollo reciprocates more than his feelings because, well, he's been pining after this guy since the first day they fucking met).

ultimately i think ppl do good with klapollo though i do think there are two major categories of characterizations i see with Apollo specifically which is kind of due to the dissonance between AJ apollo and then DD+ apollo. i think you can see him as the more clumsy, dense, easily moved/emotional apollo, or the one that gets hardened by all his trauma and years in khura'in and becomes more serious and closed off. honestly i do think there is a way to balance both those things though, i think he's a mess in conversations and he can't really stick the landings when he tries to flirt with klavier and he cries when he's really overwhelmed or when the people he loves is hurt, but he also has this kind of serious nature to him where he's blunt and he takes things literally and he loves klavier in a way that's very steadfast and serious, in the im not going anywhere way

and i think klavier just. gives apollo the love he's fucking deserved and with that gives him the freedom and the tranquility of that too. he puts his faith in apollo and he gives him space when he needs it and then when apollo needs him klavier is always always there and he would sing from the rooftops about how much he loves apollo and thats his instinct but he knows apollo isnt that type of guy. so instead he whispers i love you between sleep and exchanges brief forehead kisses and dropping off lunch at his office etc and thats the way they love.

i think verall though there are two major ways i see klapollo characterized and you know what. both are in character and i like them both and whether they get mixed together or not i am still satisfied with it hope this helps.

Here are some recent anime's I been watching. I literally watched anime for 15 hours,cuz I started at 12:30 last night and didn't stop til around 3:40ish this morning 😆.

That being said I highly recommend these anime's.

With the asteroid one I was surprised I liked it as much as I did given not a huge astronomy or geology fan. But it was really nice. Now I didn't think of it at the time as I was watching for the plot but I and many other fans were hoping it would be GL or at least be a subplot. But even without the GL it's still a good show. The art,the plot,the VA's are amazing.

For the demon one i didn't think I was gonna like it as much as I did. Not really a huge fan of the genre it is but wanted to give it a chance for the art and I'm glad i did. There's a lot of ppl on anime planet who dropped it and some saying it's boring or not good. I disagree with those comments. The plot is unique and interesting,the art isnt super duper colorful which not a fan of,but I understand why it's not. The VA's once again did an amazing job.

I however am only on 10,only because 11 and 12 aren't dubbed yet or at least dubbed on crunchyroll. Even though not finished still wanted to promote it as I feel it's an underrated show.

For the sasaki one I've seen clips of it on tiktok and it looked nice. The art is colorful and pretty,and I like the plot. I love the VA's;which I'm surprised it was dubbed. Yaoi and shounen-ai series typically never get dubbed. It's rare when it happens,so was happy it had a dub,and the VA's did amazing.

I called it around ep 9 they weren't gonna kiss or do anything til the last episode ,like in gakuen heaven. and unfortuantly i was right 😆. I will say though I h4t3d that the kiss was mainly off screen as u only get parts of the kiss.(idk if its diff in the manga as not far in the book yet).

So all i gotta do now is watch the graduation thing.a movie) But after the graduation thing I'm done.

Ppl were saying that Kagiura and hirano should've had a legit spinoff and not like 9 minutes of the graduation movie cuz I didn't know til looking at reviews that their "spin-off"is just their scene from the graduation movie.

Which I'm dissapointed in cause when I first saw they had a spin-off,I thought it was gonna be their own thing.

Maybe in the future we'll get one. Or would be nice to see something with 1 if not both of masato's brothers and their partners since they're both 94y.

And lastly dress up darling. I've seen clips and pics of it online for awhile now and figured would check it out.

While the art isn't the greatest thing out there,the VA's do a great job. And I like the plot of interests/hobbies are for any age and any gender and ppl should love what they love.

Other ppl like myself ship the 2 MC's. Hopefully in the next season(and yes it's getting one. I'll post it soon.)it'll be a sub plot. Cause its clear they both like each other. Especially marin,as she actually says it in her mind on several occasions and (spoiler-ish)she tells him on the phone in the last episode.

But yeah i hope u guys give some of these series a chance. They're all amazing.

im sorry but otis and maeve exacerbate the goodness and badness both in each other and this makes them special and more connected with their glimpses, gestures and inability to stay away for longer. unless ur telling me there are other superior ships too but the ending of s3 ep7 was so so special. Otis and Maeve's ending lines in the rain scene is pretty PRETTY indicative of who at least should be with whom, when its always been them in each others mind. Now idk what would writers do or make of it in s4 and cliffhanger like ending, but all love interests added were poorly added and gave us false hope for both characs to be with someone else like isaac/ruby thing, however the entire thing as eric says too, "happened bcs of otis and maeve coming together with special diff traits and bonds to form the best clinic that offers pretty feasible and amateur like opinions which in turn polished otis' skills of helping people more and also for maeve who was already pretty smart and bright ahead of her times, in her speech and tastes" and this was entire reason and beginning of the best season which led to clinical education, awareness for teenagers while otis and maeve also navigate through each others lives and troubles and love and ways of communicating since both have a different way of communicating and both adhere to each other and also give each other space more, (or maybe bcs i do prefer that ship more than others, im just so hyped at every scene and moment). However the best moment for me wasn't the bus scene kiss moment in france but when otis and maeve were both kicked out of sexed class for open and different opinions against or anti to whatever prude and harsh concepts Hope was instilling in people, a lot of ppl and characters owned up to their sexuality and rebelled but Otis and Maeve rejecting the idea and challenging and arguing but then also being kicked out of class is very special moment and a parallel between them that so many perhaps don't notice, It also tells how differently in choices, they are so connected in thoughts, Maeve never shrugged off otis and he doesn't bother her only and until they both knew they couldn't really stay away and he made an effort even after f_cking up to stay in his life, and apologized and competed rather foolishly with isaac but all this bottled down again to ruby and isaac just used for story development and then removed from scenes but in a way i think, it is best for them since otis and maeve are both confused about each other & overall relationships, i think they both would take things v slowly and they are that kind of patient couple if they are a couple.....which i cant see hope of. It all actually just started from them too, which led to graffitis and sexual topics to be embraced and accepted more, bcs idk if someone also noticed how otis has so much of jean in him, and even if he is embarrassed by his mother sometimes, the genes just reflect in him. He is good at articulating and smooth and i think maeve picks it up quickly, they don't even guess when they are together, and they both have innate desire to help ppl esp maeve under that hard rock shell of an exterior, she is the most selfless and forgiving person, maybe too much, and lets go of a lot of stuff, always looks forward to future and is quite pragmatic even but in sense of otis, they both are always inexplicably drawn and held together to each other by some bitter false or sweet ripe memory of their previous days and its so funny or adorable to see them actually cling foolishly to their past encounter messages, moments, talks, and dreams/jokes of having a clinic. We see eric as bestfriend of Otis rooting for them too, and so does Aimee (which is weak evidence or parallel since writers are putting hints like this always but it is always jeopardized somehow in the end too so im not hoping or keeping too high hopes on anything).

The rain moment in s3ep7 is the most heart-warming because maeve now doesn't push otis back and neither does she falls back on isaac somehow, and she welcomes his opinion again, only this time they actually confess in pretty open words & expressions which is more meaningful and rigorous and sparkling than the RainmomentInFrance which i think was, meaningless or maybe just a way to bring them close together.

You cannot tell me this is excellent dialogue exchange and yet so simple with breath your name by Sixpence playing in the BG,

This is more about companionship and soulmate-ism too than just a sexual relationship or deep crush situation. Even if they aren't together romantically, and still wanting to be close to her is big big thing & detail for at least something good and warm for them in future, because he hasn't confessed this to anyone or ruby even which was initially a casual relationship even. This explains pretty well that even if they aren't together or intended to be together, - the staying close + together or near each other is enough to make day.

Maeve: "It wasn't about the money for me, it was also to be close to you too

Maeve doesn't say much but a) smiles when he says we can be team and due to nearness to her he wanted to work on further and b).she exclaims and rebuts his claim that she was in it for money only when she has never been lucky in family/financial dept and wanted to be close to her too, but also how this was method for her to earn money too so like double benefit because maeve does need money and we cannot reduce her to romantic person only but the hardworking intelligent and practical persona she carries and embodies! and wants to rise academically and also does it selflessly, doesn't obstruct or infringe on someone's rights like most people do. But she also does admit at the same time it wasnt just for the money. With the background music score this moment might be the best cliché end or romantic confession even if in future it doesn't mean much because words...are winds and fade away, but i cannot deny the canon visible goodness these both characters bring out in one another, its like they do compliment and fit each other which i always find quite evident from s1 until s2 made their friendship too sour but its about what they bring in each other and only think abt themselves in each others presence. When they are with someone else they think about other things clouding their mind yet sometimes when they talk to each other, its like they both do comfort each other or it wouldn't have pained the writers to show how visibly hateful they are if they were. Perhaps the abortion moment in s1 was also very warm and changed my mind so much abt them, its like how otis is always there in worse situations for maeve along with aimee too ofc, and sometimes its childish to see him try so hard and desperate to be there but she eventually lets him in.

one of the great mysteries in hogwart is izuku's strange and intimate relationship with an older slytherin boy!dabi where he's constantly on the precipice of falling to dark side and izuku is perpetually in the light and how some ppl no matter how hard you try you cant be save and how sometimes the ppl we love are capable of terrible things. this 'verse always been endgame bkdk; it started that way and will end that way, but dabi and izuku's friendship deeply fascinates me esp dabi's intense unrequited love for izuku that keeps him from completely burning the wizarding world to the ground and dance on its ashes.

dabi comes from a long line of purebloods who are wildly known to be wizards who fought against the dark so when he was discovered to have an inclination to the dark arts... dabi went from being precious first born heir to the black sheep of the family that nobody talk about. the wizarding world has a v v clear distinction between light and dark magic especially because the dark arts been repeatedly abused and misused by terrible ppl throughout history so it has a deep and troubling connotation even though magic itself is neither good or bad because it's just magic. dark and light is just a division of it; it's ppl that created 'bad' magic and link it to the dark arts but it's easier to just denounced an entire system of magic then to say, 'ah, it's really all our faults; we're corrupted magic with our selfish ways.' magic is true neutral. But because there's such a heavy society bias/prejudice against dark arts in any form that any sign of it is consider taboo, cursed, and propensity to turn evil for the user so when dabi shown to have a talent for it his father turned his back to him in order to protect his family's honor.

dabi felt abandoned by his family and the wizarding kind so he seek to burn it to the ground; his anger and hate simmers within him and for many years he nurtured them till one day he can fully unleashed upon the world but then he met izuku and for once in his life he hesitated.

izuku was born a squib, had no single drop of magic in him even as he sees everyone else around him able to do wonderful things. despite feeling like he's worthless, he didn't resent them or their magic. izuku only becomes deeply fascinated with it and all the potential it could be. so all this means that when he does finally received magic from AM (a long winded story that i will get into another day), izuku who spent most of his life a magicless in a world full of it, knows what it like to be isolated, scorn, and feels as 'others' instead as one of them but that make it all the more for him to change it for the better so nobody would ever feel as isolated and helpless like he once did.

so dabi and his ability to wield the dark arts as though it's an extension of himself?? izuku finds it interesting, something he wants to understand and study and dabi as someone who knows what it likes to be outcast because they're diff and doesnt fit in the society's neat lil box saw this boy extending a hand toward him and first he spurned it but then izuku kept persisting and never judge him and never make him feel like he’s dirt, wrong, and that he’s alone… so yea he becomes deeply attached to izuku. their friendship started because they both feels terribly alone in a world that doesn't quite understand them and even when izuku has the ability to fit in, he sees how the wizarding world in its isolation has deep muggle/dark magic prejudice and there are cracks in this 'perfect society’ so while izuku is determines to change it for the better, dabi wants to burn it all to the ground.

While they bonded over their diffs but at the same time izuku recognizing though he has been mistreated in the past (his father a muggleborn and he was a squib), this world isn't all bad. there are good ppl in it too! and he got (new) friends to prove it. just because the wizarding world been set in its ornery way for hundred of yrs and STILL HAVEN'T adapted to modern time yet, doesnt mean it's stuck in bias forever; it can be change, it will be change because izuku will do it. izuku wants to see it change because he sees the potential it could be just like he sees what dabi could be if he wasn't drowning in his own hate and anger so much. he clings to their friendship in hopes that one day dabi will see the light and just stop going down this dark and dangerous path.

dabi loves izuku. it is the most unselfish thing he ever done because he expects nothing from izuku. not his love, not his friendship, not even his kindness because dabi knows what he's about to do will only hurt izuku so it's better that he doesn't have izuku because he'll only lose him later but he also cant seem to part way with izuku because this wretched thing call love has long holds him hostage and he's fully aware that either his revenge going to burn him out first or this tired and terrible love is going to eat him alive. something got to give and it's dabi either way

izuku loves dabi very much because he feels a kindred spirit with him and they understands each other the best even more than katsuki who is his soulmate bc katsuki comes from a place of prilvage and could never understand izuku’s feelings the way dabi could but,,, it's not the same love that burn within dabi. it's not romantic but it's strong enough that izuku can't stay away from dabi for long; always coming back to him. they have this not so much toxic but it's definitely codependent and dysfunctional because they both make it v v v clear what their intentions are and how they both deeply disapproved of the others standing and is firm in their own set of beliefs but they cant let each other go.

for dabi he's already paved his path on this treacherous and dark road and he's not turning back for anything or anyone; it's him or this fucking terrible society, but if there's one thing he can save as it all burn is izuku and that's all he wants; izuku to be untouched and free. So while dabi's decision is cemented in stone, izuku has a harder time knowing what to do when it comes to his relationship with dabi because how far is too much? how far can he watch dabi ruin himself hurt others before izuku say enough is enough, i cant do this anymore; i cant support you. sometimes the ppl we love is capable of doing terrible things and when they do act upon it we have to ask ourselves is this something we're willing to compromise our morals, our character for? is love enough to stay. is love enough to change/stop them from doing something terrible that they may regret later? then if izuku does have enough, what would dabi do? is he so secured in his revenge and goals that he is willing to let izuku go? can he bear the thought of izuku cutting himself off from dabi permanently? does that not make him waver even a lil bit? does it not make him rethink?

the way their relationship pushed and pulled with dueling mentalities and goals and the way they both so drawn to each other but yet also stands firmly on opposing sides; it's interesting to see how it all unfold in the end or... not depending on how far they're willing to go for each other

in case of unpopular opinion , 1) i dont know how unpopular this is but , i very recently saw one of the big km blogger mentioning the same theory . its about km rings.ys they maybe matching rings but members have lots of matching rings.to say they r promise rings / even engagment rings bought from tokyo etc etc are bullshit. the only fact we know is km does have some pairs of matching rings , even recently they are wearing matching rings for some events but that's it. 2) this is MY opinion, if someone cant accept a reality that there is a chance km may not be real or someone who does believe km is in a relationship but want them to act always like in romantic movies n if not going around crying km broke up can just stop "shipping km " now. its the best for your mental health . coz these r real people possibly in a real relationship they have good days n bad days, their fightings can remain for many days too, they r professional af , just because they r not screaming n fighting on cam doesnt means it doesnt exist , it does n they maintain their distances at those times , from my observation . re 1) rings: exactly, going as far as saying that they’re promise or engagement rings is a little...far fetched imo. i have wondered where this narrative is coming from? back then i went through bvlgari’s products to see if i can find those specific rings but i couldn’t. so either they were custom made, from an older collection or from (a) different brand(s). i know there’s this one picture that ppl love to recycle but i very clearly remember this was from a russian (?) website that wasn’t associated with bvlgari at all. and wasn’t there another pic of km shopping at gucci in the airport in japan that had sparked the bvlgari rumors in the first place? anyway. like you said, some members have matching rings/jewelry. it doesn’t mean they’re in a relationship lol

it’s interesting that you think jk made the first move. it’s entirely possible tbh. i actually think that he came to terms with his sexuality way before jm did but perhaps that’s more headcanon than reality. 

depending on where you live being in a same-sex relationship can be someone’s death sentence and i don’t think enough ppl are aware of it. being queer on the internet is fun and games but being queer irl is different story. i grew up in a progressive country, i can’t possibly imagine what it’s like to be queer in a society that’s not as accepting as mine (despite that i’m not out to my entire family) but i am deeply sorry if that’s your reality. my childhood best friend is serbian and for as long as he was living with his parents he basically lived a double life. it took him living abroad to finally accept his homosexuality. i often read that if km are dating, they’re so lucky to have fallen in love with each other. are they though? being who they are there’s so much at stake for them and i just can’t see it as this fairytale love story that some like to label it. i realize this pov might be a bit more controversial so don’t come at me lol

Haidilao self-heating hot pot!

That being said, depending on how it is. .. I may or may not ‘return’ to it in the future. But the important thing is that I try once (at least) first =P

Chinese cuisine is something I grew up eating; but it’s southern Chinese food (specifically, Cantonese Chinese dishes). There are a lot of varieties of Chinese cuisine depending on which region you’re in. One of the things I have yet to get used to / grew to like is Sichuan ma-la spice. It’s that numbing sensation from the local chili peppers that I just can’t seem to. ... prefer. I’ve tried it many times in diff places but it’s just not something I like =( That doesn’t mean I hate all Sichuan food though! In recent years, tomato based broth has become a hit in said province.

Haidilao is a brand based in Sichuan; they are a hot pot franchise that now exists all over China & they even have products that contain their broths & stuff.

I got this beef self-heating hot pot thing to try (from Hmart!). They had 4 flavours & I ended up buying this one & a Cantonese sausage one. I skipped out on the 2 ma-la flavours.

This item was in the instant noodles section & it happened to be on sale on the day that I went to Hmart. From like ~$17 to $3.99, so why not?! Although it is a bigger bowl/container than a regular instant noodle bowl, I don’t care what is inside.. . $17?! I would never buy it! But <$5, worth a try!

I covered the piece of beef with the tomato paste... sorry! It was 1 piece of beef brisket (slightly moist in package) that measures approx 8cm by 8cm, & about 1cm thick. Wasn’t a very big piece. .. but for $3.99, I consider it a great deal! haha

Looks like what the picture shows. The dry vermicelli is now clear & cooked. Soup is steaming hot. Legit!

The portion wise.. I mean, it’s not small but for me, I consider it as a side? Some cup noodles, I view them as a snack size; however, this was bigger than that but not enough for a meal on its own.

As such, I transferred the contents to a large bowl & added some more ingredients to it.

Napa cabbage + bean sprouts.

& several pieces of tofu as well.

Overall flavour & other aspects. There was a LOT of bamboo shoots & the broth, despite tomato-y, it tasted very “Chinese” with the bamboo shoot flavour. For me, not my thing. I’ve never been a fan of bamboo shoots. Some ppl really like Chinese preserved/pickled veggies, so for these ppl, this will be a good choice! I didn’t find the broth too salty nor greasy (I filled water up the maximum level line).

Would I buy again? No haha I didn’t thoroughly enjoy it but my parents did. If I do purchase this again in the future (when it’s on sale again!), I’ll remember to NOT add the veggie pack. But the sauce paste, noodles, & beef brisket was good. I can’t believe this was originally $17........ *thinking about what things in a restaurant I could get for $17...*

Oooh okay first of all dare me as a DA… I’ve only watched the show but like yeah I see the Elements for sure.

Also yeah I can understand what you mean abt Oliver being an unreliable narrator now… Ig my view of unreliable was more like they are purposefully twisting the truth or omitting facts or just literally don’t know shit but I get how personal bias can make the narrator unreliable. I do think the assertion that Oliver thinks his friends are different than they actually are makes sense. He sees James in a very positive light and though I like James a lot and think he is better than, like, Richard, he definitely has darker moments and manipulates Oliver at times (again I’d like to think it’s not the most nefarious thing in the world but like him just being shitty bc he’s in a dark place and he one, wants to do anything he can so Oliver doesn’t figure out he fought Richard so Oliver still thinks of him the same way/bc he knows Oliver would do something stupid like get himself arrested for James; and two, is very jealous that Oliver is with Meredith after Richard dies and has sort of a somewhat positive outcome from Richard’s death versus James being riddled with guilt and anger). And yeah, the probable ending is they never meet but I refuse to acknowledge that so LGNRG. Also that line makes me go CRAZZZZZZZZZZY!!! There are so many great lines, both using Shakespeare and on their own and its like okay give me a moment im going bonkers…

Personally, I haven’t read that many dark academia novels yet (bc for some reason i can barely finish a book rn sigh) but the concept interests me. I think what’s compelling is the setting/atmosphere of like ~mysterious college vibes~, and the idea of a sort of niche, obsessive bond and pursuit of knowledge with a tight knit group of friends (and the like inherent homoeroticism in every single DA elrngenrg). Like Dead Poet’s Society (the film I haven’t read the book) isn’t Dark in the same way most other dark academia is by like, obsession and death and manipulation (though of course there are dark elements with Neil’s storyline), but I think the other building blocks of academia are present there in a more wholesome way and you can see why people are drawn to that idea. As for the more Dark aspects I think it’s interesting to analyze things like group psyche, obsession, manipulation, etc, like what went wrong for everything to take such a dark turn???

 But, like everything else, it really has to be done well or else its just like okay….… I’ve tried to read TSH twice and I may try again but from the 100+ ish pages I read I totally get what you mean. IWWV is so interesting to me bc the characters are all very compelling and multifaceted and I like that they are a close friendship, we come in after 4 years of them spending all the time together and to me that is apparent. Like you said, we can see fissures and problems especially as the novel continues but there is care there between them. That also makes the decision to let Richard die much more interesting and sinister imo, as well as how all of them interact with each other after he dies, and how the roles of the group change without their “leader” so to speak. Also, maybe it’s just bc I like Shakespeare, but I think the academia part of IWWV is so much more accessible compared to TSH. Like I don’t know every Shakespeare play or anything so I didn’t understand every nuance or was like immediately like oh this is from Cymbeline or whatever the fuck, but you could understand the gist of things and it made sense that they spoke in Shakespeare lines bc that’s all they’ve been doing for four years and also theatre kids are Like That. Their pretention also provided any Layers to the story, like the parallels between the characters they play and their own arcs, how some of the lines echoed their own thots, foreshadowed, or they were able to say things through Shakespeare (I’m thinking of like, Oliver realized he loved James during Romeo and Juliet, the foreshadowing that James was going to ruin Richard’s life and that he dislikes Meredith/Richard when he quotes Mercutio at the start “A plague o’ both your houses”, the exchange Oliver and James had onstage and had that kiss during King Lear before Oliver was arrested,etc.) (Also I think the structure of some of the dialogue being formatted like a play really helped make it feel more realistic and immersive). Versus TSH which is just so pedantic and dense and hard to follow at times im like I get they are smart but what??? And maybe that’s part of the satire aspect (or maybe im dumb) but like donna I read TGF I know you are pretentious and info dump abt random obscure shit anyways so erglknerg. Like to me there was a Point to all of the academic Shakespeare stuff in IWWV and it was the soul of the book, and M.L. Rio made it very interesting—like the way that the directors reimagined the plays and had Julius Caesar be like a modern political play, the cool mirror shit in King Lear, the Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet performances where they did them at events and interacted with their environments (which were one of my favorite parts of the books bc I just think that concept is so interesting), etc. For TSH the shit they did literally just felt like “okay look at them they’re smart see you can’t even keep up!” like okay… I felt lost a lot and only like snapped into reality whenever Henry (?) was like oh… murder….. and even then I was like idk what this dude is saying but like he’s being darksided LMAO. And I also agree that it’s just like… Richard being thrown in the middle of this group could lend itself to some cool ideas but its hard to believe that he fits into the friendship group and hes just like hell yeah I love Greek so much and lets go kill this guy other than like okay ur gay and stupid and just want to impress Henry or whatever his name was (which he was but I digress). It’s just not as impactful to me as this close friend group falling apart. Ik TSH fans might be angry if they see this (and of course I haven’t finished the book so my perception may be warped but I also kno many ppl felt that way u did) bc I’ve seen ppl say IWWV is just like TSH but “lackluster” or whatever and while I can see some parallels (mostly b/w Richard and Henry and Alexander and Francis), I really think M.L. Rio expanded upon common DA tropes and the interesting parts of TSH but made it her own and interesting and oh yeah there are actually multiple compelling female characters and LGBT characters (and no incest)!!!

Hi bub! How are you? I’m back from the dead to say I’m watching the documentary recommended and I have so many thoughts about it. And mostly having to do about how parents are raising their children. And how it affects a child’s selfsteem/selfworth and perception from reality. Which makes how susceptible they’re to “tech manipulation”. And I’m just in the middle of it! It is indeed extremely interesting. Especially when I compare what I’m watching (the family in the docu) and my personal life.

The other part I’m thinking about is simply the psychological part of a human being. We’re selfish by nature, but at the same time we feel the need to be part of something/to be in. And the marketing team of those companies excel in this aspect. It’s as they said in the beginning, ppl create their bubble and are presented content similar to what they’re like. but the question is: do ppl want to pop that bubble? Do ppl want to be exposed to a diff thought they have? And do companies want that?

Another thought that popped now: did the technology changed us or just enhanced our behavior? Turned into a more favorable environment? How would the world be if we didn’t have technology available? I think internet/tech etc inevitable. Our “luck” it is available to the general population and not only to ppl of power. At the same time it can manipulate masses, it also incites thoughts of doubt about what it’s real or fake. It stimulates thought. Stimulates some ppl to search for knowledge.

I think about those things a lot. Maybe they’re silly thoughts. It’s really subjective. At the same time all that tech is available to us to use for good, humans will be humans forever, and a lot of them will use it for something bad that favors them. Sorry I’m just rambling. It’s 1:34 am and it spurred many thoughts! I usually hate documentaries, but this one is fascinating! I totally agree with you that ppl should watch it and know what’s really happens behind the curtains!

hello!!! i’m so glad you watched the social dilemma! i really think it’s a wonderful documentary. didn’t really like the acting bits in it... i feel like they should’ve just gone full documentary mode but that’s alright. anyway, i feel like I and maybe you, watched social media change gradually. back in the day in like 2008/2009, on facebook, my friends and i would post goofy pictures and silly posts... like none of them were of us trying to look particularly amazing or whatever but nowadays 14 or 15 year olds have these insane insta profiles with like you know super aesthetic posts and really nice clothes like real high effort stuff. nothing wrong with it obviously but it’s just so much has changed and i can defo see how other kids feel bad about themselves when they see stuff like that...

it’s just so odd. facebook, twitter, instagram, all of these platforms have changed so much from when i first started using them. the fact that the software engineer in the docu said only 5 people in the entire company knows how the algorithm works, and even so they think nobody really knows how it functions in its entirety... that is scary. also the information hemisphere that occurs within social media is so dangerous and i feel like i get trapped in it too. it’s like i don’t want to see news from conservative channels that sensationalize things, but that thought in itself is also wrong. i should also want to know what happens on the other side, how other people think and why they think that way. i don’t have to agree but i should at least listen. social media has definitely amplified this polarity that exists in the world.

also, i feel like news outlets are increasingly becoming like entertainment outlets. they present facts, peppered in with opinions from their anchors which i actually don’t really like. they end up sensationalizing things and detract people away from the facts, or people may confuse opinions of the anchors as facts.

technology is great and i would never revert back to a time without it. i’m that person that has benefited so much from learning online, be it on youtube or through articles and etc. it’s just the people that use social media for nefarious uses that ruins it. first, the political gain which is something that is inexcusable and secondly for monetary gain. it’s funny because i know how these things work both ways for the latter. you can make so much money on the internet if you know how to target ads right... but i also know how bad it is that it works... like the fact that it preys on all of us, on our data... it’s kinda scary tbh.

anyway, money is sort of the root of all evil. the social media outlets developed that way because of their business model, because they wanted to make money. they realized selling people ads about things they like, recommending things to people that like them, things that are surprising, fake, and ‘sensational’ makes them more money. though the people in the documentary are optimistic about the fact that we can ‘fix’ things, i don’t think we will achieve that any time soon. it will take us more than 10 years at the minimum i think. laws take forever to pass and god knows these billionaire owners will never be like hmm lets make my company earn less money because these algos are actually harmful to the public... yeah hell no, they’ll never do that unless the public or the government forces them to. but yes loved the documentary and i hope more people watch it!!!
