Follyglass : Hidden
Six of The Seventeen Hidden Bookstores of Boston, a guide by Charinia Black
Buckingham’s - Only found in the golden hours of October in a shower of freshly shed sugar maple leaves. The proprietor is quiet and at first looks bothered at your arrival, but be assured that he is only a bit socially anxious as not many people have found his shop. He is more than happy to guide you through the towers of volumes that deal with the boundary between life and death. Even if you just say your hello and turn right around to leave, please don’t be surprised that when you emerge it is a cold night in December.
Charles - Entrance is located under the southernmost arch of the Obelisk footbridge on the Charles river. Accessible only to ladies named Charles. For those of you who are not ladies named Charles, a hint: find the paisley cat at Harvard Square, and for the price of a nibble (of noodles, of fish, of cheese), she will bestow a spell in the form of a purr that will, for a single hour, charm you to the appropriate Charles. It must be said that if you do go about this, keep meticulous track of time and perhaps plan to leave a smidgen early, for when your purred magic wears off and you’re still in the shop, you will be dumped as if a trapdoor has given way into the river below. To add to your sudden sogginess, you name will also be charmed – or perhaps cursed – into a new form that integrates whole or parts of ‘Charles.’ Try as I might to write my previous name, it always comes out as you see it now, with the added twist that with the exception of me, nobody can read or remember my original lovely name of Charinia.
Avender Pinkfog’s Delectorium - Avender is known for popping up at odd places with his carriage decorated in flower chains. Only six are permitted, for Avender sadly hasn’t room for more, and when the sixth arrives the entire party vanishes. Nothing malevolent, mind. Snippets of story are in the faceted bottles that look very much like alcohols. His bookshop’s genius is in those bottles; always a different combination for each time he heads out. The night we had found Avender’s carriage there was carrot and honey and ginger and topaz and lemon, and when given coin and a suggestion (a bittersweet romance), Avender mixed them in specific proportions, then served us. Through sips of his concoction, we felt, we saw. It was as if we were all watching a film together, a film never to be experienced again. If you tell him a dream, he will make your own little vial of story, and you can take it home and drink it when you wish. I told him I wished to see him again, but sadly Avender’s shop can only be visited once.
The Society of the Recently Broken - Not everyone has the key to gaining entrance to this rather large bookstore, and that key is an experience of true heartbreak. Perhaps its magic was meant as a pick-me-up for those who had been recently wounded, very much like offering someone a chocolate after a mild disappointment as a thin balm to sweeten the soul. Oh, you’ve just been rejected by the wondrous life that you could have had? Welcome dear heart. Once inside, it is a marvel that cannot be described accurately, but those who have been within will manage to make you quite envious of their experience. So what must one do if you’ve always had a charmed life free of tear and strife? A curious thing… some book lovers do gain entrance after the crushing feeling of being denied.
Kindlewicks - Follow the curious amethyst-hued windowpanes up the cobbled streets of Beacon Hill to an aubergine colored door. Here, you’ll find a wide range of books and trinkets that were previously owned by those proud of the witches in their lineage. It’s much like a well-to-do eccentric’s yard sale, if it smelled overwhelmingly of coriander and crystal. If you’re not looking for a book, perhaps you’ll be interested in a bone-handled fork or a fringed lamp. And if one of the seven owners (the Kindlewick siblings) feels up to it, you may be gifted with a reading of your path through the shop, which takes note of the direction of your turns as well as what sections you lingered in. Reader, I had been informed that my path was grandly optimistic.
Step and Hall - Kindly address the left statue guarding the public library, and if she finds you worthy, she’ll blink. Note that many who have been granted access have compared notes, and nobody can determine what makes one ‘worthy.’ Nevertheless, if you find yourself blinked at, go inside the library, and ascend the steps to the gallery of the gods painted by the Singer Sargent. No, there isn’t a hidden door, but if you ask one of the gods a question, they’ll give you an answer from their eternal knowledge. It’ll only be a one-word utterance, but wrapped within you’ll have experienced the writing that you most seek.

For pillow fort friday<3
If I had to make you a drink I would do a simple whisky cocktail !  (I hope you like whiskey as much as Saya does—bc I know I do!)
-Whiskey on the rocks with a homemade spiced* honey syrup *(cinnamon, ginger, orange, honey+ water/sugar) -A dash of Orange bitters and a weee bit of fresh lemon juice—garnished with an orange wheel
You pick a movie/tv show/anime! (Or 5?) I could use a good rec! :)
good morning, kaz! i'm so sorry i missed this last night, i was busy singing my lungs out very poorly at karaoke, ahaha.
that cocktail sounds fantastic, i will take two, pls & thank you. whiskey (and scotch whisky particularly) is my preferred liquor most of the time, though gin does edge ahead a little bit in the summer when i enjoy a nice fizz with fresh fruit. that cocktail sounds perfectly up my alley! <3
let's see what i can do about recommendations below the cut because they got looonnnnggg (sorry)...
tv shows:
ted lasso. i was very late to this one, but just binged all three seasons and really enjoyed it. on apple.
BEEF. it's sooooooo goood and bizarre and wonderful in the worst (best) ways. on netflix.
trial & error. was an nbc comedy over too soon. on peacock, i think.
the river. likewise cancelled early, but it's horror on the amazon and i loved it a lot. idk where to find this one, but i'm sure it's streaming someplace as all things are these days.
not dead yet. which finished its first season recently is an easy watch & pretty funny. the MC is very relatable in an, "i am a mess" sort of way alsjdf;adfs. i think this is nbc, but i watched it on hulu.
movies:
everything everywhere all at once. i can't wait to watch this again. it was my first time in a non-socially distanced movie theatre post-quarantine and it was such a joy to hold my spouse's hand while i laughed my ass off and cried and yelled. love this fucking thing (as does everyone else, as they should).
you won't be alone. this is horror. body horror. it's pretty messy in parts but so so sooooooo soooooooooooooo good. it's also primarily in macedonian with subtitles and i'm not sure how hard it would be to track down.
the impostors. with stanley tucci and oliver platt is a comedy from my youth that i still think is one of the best of all time.
a goofy movie. idk, y'all, i just showed this to my spouse because it was referenced in an episode of atlanta (another great fucking tv show) and it's still just so funny and heartwarming and the music they made for powerline is so good.
spiderman: across the spider-verse. haven't even seen this yet but my god i want to so badly and i just know it's gonna be killer because the first one blew my mind.
anime (i'm probably not gonna come up with much here you haven't already seen or know about tbh but let's see):
blue period. especially as an artist, i think you might enjoy this one. i binged it in like a day and a half and thoroughly enjoyed it all very much. on netflix.
maid-sama! i actually enjoyed watching this anime so much that i then went back and read the whole manga because i needed to know how it ended. it was cute and expected and exactly the sort of low-stakes shojo i needed at the time.
ghost hunt!.i fucking love this little horror anime and am so disappointed it didn't get to go longer. there is a manga and also a light novel that are very worthwhile if you ever have the time.
i think three is all you're gonna get outta me for this category, but i hope something there sparks your fancy! thanks so much! <3

This is a vent on HOW THE FUCK DID I GOT EXCLUDED AT SCHOOL BECAUSE OF THIS GIRL,ADELINE
So,me and Beatris(the girl I like) ran up to the restroom,Adeline was there,I was looking at my hair to see if it was fucked up.it wasn’t.then,Beatris and I walked out and Adeline said to her
“Let her go outside”….
I froze…but I let Beatris first
“I said let Danielle go first..”
Ouch…that’s fucking stupid Adeline.I walked out to Sarah and Maria, two of my fav classmates that I keep in touch with…I don’t know if we still keep in touch…
When the clock was 17( 5 PM) all my girl classmates were to Adeline, even Beatris…and I was thinking: “should I relapse?…” but then I didn’t had a choice but relapse after that…Adeline and the girl classmates and a boy classmate followed her, excluding me from there…I say to myself “this bitch is crazy” and I walk to sit somewhere outside and then zone out…then I hear the PE teacher saying “ALRIGHT TEENS! GET Y’ALL BAGS AND GO HOME!”.
I got my backpack and walked home already..as I get into my room..I started crying…because I don’t think you ever feel how is like being excluded in school
Lo siento hector for venting ok?…
yeah si si estas bien. vale… ella es una gran bastarda. No me gusta ella.
and if you ever need to vent im here okay? 9/10 times i can relate to something. ive gone through some shit and can help.
and p.s, that girl sounds like a puta
if you ever feel like youre going to relapse try this (helps me ig i dunno you dont need to, jus some tips based off what i do if i feel like im going to relapse)
-take really deep breaths, in for 5 out for 10
-try listening to music
-a warm beverage (i like my lemon and ginger tea with some warm honey and 2 sugars) it helps warm your body and ease tension (again at least it does for me)
-try to relax or take a nap, or dont nap and just lie down for a bit
-take a walk and really look at your surroundings. notice the little things. could be like how grass moves, different people you pass, shops/vendors around and the fonts on their store signs...etc,etc. notice how you breathe, the way you walk, what path you took...i dunno. thinking about other things works.
i have a certain playlist i listen to...or i have this really upbeat one with all my electronic/techno music and it just makes me feel good. like, i wanna move, i wanna do things, it makes me feel like i can take on anything. i can link the playlist but i recommend you organize something for yourself, something that makes you feel good.
so that playlist is here ->
please i beg you to listen to Angst and Overthinker from INZO, i swear, you feel that shit. and the Overthinker remix too, i think you'll like that one more...
its from my old account so im sorry its short but i can edit it anymore but basically another version of it is this one ->
(its actually got more songs its like almost 8 hours long, not my longest playlist)
so um...sorry for the long answer i just thought itd help...sorry again...
but yeah ig def listen to those songs...sorry if you dont like them jus trying to help...

EXPERT HERBALIST
Health Benefits of Herbal Tea Herbal teas, also called tisanes, are caffeine-free infusions of leaves, roots, seeds and flowers. Some like chamomile tea have calming properties while others like peppermint can help with digestion and alleviate nausea. Because herbal tea doesn’t use the Camellia sinensis plant, it isn’t considered true tea. Nevertheless, many enjoy its health benefits and stress-relieving properties. Ginger Ginger has a number of health benefits. It is an anti-inflammatory and improves digestive function, which can be a problem for many people. It also has antioxidants, and it boosts the immune system. Ginger is also beneficial for the heart as it encourages blood circulation and lowers bad cholesterol. It can help to relieve symptoms of indigestion and the common cold. It also has a calming effect and helps with depression and anxiety. Hibiscus tea is an excellent source of antioxidants. It can protect against some strains of bird flu and can help to lower blood pressure. Rosemary Rosemary tea is a natural diuretic, which helps to reduce fluid retention and lower blood pressure. It also helps to improve mental function and memory. It has been shown to relieve headaches and minor aches and pains. It is also a great way to relax before sleep. It is a great source of calcium, iron, and vitamins. It contains healthy compounds like rosmarinic acid and caffeic acid, which can help prevent free radical damage. It also contains anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce pain and inflammation. This herbal tea is very easy to make and can be enjoyed at any time of the day. It is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, which can help with digestion and boost the immune system. It also has anti-bacterial properties and can be used to treat indigestion. It can also be a great way to relieve stress and anxiety. This tea can be made with a variety of add-ins, such as thyme, lemon juice, or honey. Olive leaf Ancient cultures used olive leaf to reduce fever and infection, soothe rashes and wounds and even cleanse the liver. Today we know it contains powerful phytochemicals called oleuropein and hydroxtyrosol which have incredible anti-oxidant properties. They boost immunity, improve blood sugar, lipid profiles and bone health. One of the most interesting benefits discovered is that olive leaf extract can lower blood pressure in cases of hypertension. In fact, a 2022 randomised control trial of identical twins showed that patients taking 1,000 mg/day of olive leaf extract had significantly reduced blood pressures. The oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol found in olive leaf also have hypoglycaemic and antidiabetic properties. However, it is important to talk to your physician before starting this herbal tea if you have diabetes. It could interact with blood glucose-lowering medications and cause hypoglycemia (lower than normal levels). It also has antihypertensive and cardiovascular properties, dilates coronary arteries and relieves arrhythmia. It also reduces cholesterol, and is gastroprotective, neuroprotective, antimicrobial, anticancer and antinociceptive (reduces the sensation of pain). This is why this delicious drink has been dubbed as the 'liquid gold'! Peppermint Peppermint is a common ingredient in herbal tea blends. It can help treat stomach ailments like indigestion and nausea. It may also reduce tension headaches, soothe sinuses and promote relaxation. It's loaded with menthol and menthone that give it a refreshing flavor. A recent study found that drinking peppermint tea eased symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, including abdominal pain, gas and bloating. It can also ease nausea and vomiting related to chemotherapy. The plant contains phenols that can help prevent certain types of cancer and support the body's natural defense system. The herb is full of antioxidants, potassium, calcium and vitamins A and C. dandelion tea 's also high in magnesium, which can boost energy levels and aid in digestion. Despite being more flavorful and versatile, chicken thighs remain far behind breast meat in popularity, at least within the US. Here at Serious Eats, though, we recommend chicken thighs for all sorts of preparations: braising, stewing, baking, frying, skewering/grilling. An abundance of connective tissue makes them both flavorful and forgiving of longer cooking times, unlike breast, which tends to dry out quickly.
To me, all that makes thighs the perfect cut for a relaxed night of cooking, one in which I don't have to watch the pan like a hawk to get good results. Here are 21 recipes, from one-pan braised dinners of chicken thighs and vegetables to Bengali rice porridge and grilled paella, to convince you of the glories of dark meat.
Grilled Chicken Skewers
Tumblr media
Crispy Caramel Chicken Skewers
Morgan Eisenberg
Chicken thighs' higher fat content helps them retain more moisture than breast. That means thigh meat is practically a must for grilled skewers, as the intense heat of the grill would quickly overcook and dry out breast. Inspired by Vietnamese gà kho, these skewers get ample flavor from a sweet-and-savory glaze (incorporating both brown sugar and honey as a stand-in for the more traditional rock sugar) that caramelizes into a crispy coating on the grill. Rolling the skewers in a final layer of sesame seeds and sliced almonds gives them plenty of crunch. You can grill these (or any of the other skewers below) on the grate using a two-zone fire, as we've recommended in the past, or try our new and improved skewer-grilling setup to bring the meat closer to the coals and increase your chances of tender, juicy results.
Sweet-and-Sour Grilled Chicken Skewers (Yakitori Nanbansu)
Vicky Wasik
The nanbansu in the name is a simple mixture of soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, and mirin, and it can be used as a sauce, dip, and/or marinade. Again, use chicken thighs here to ensure the yakitori come off the grill moist and tender. The meat picks up lots of flavor from an overnight marinade in the nanbansu, which we also serve alongside the skewers for dipping; a little optional shichimi togarashi will add a mild heat, if you want it.
Japanese Chicken Skewers With Scallion (Negima Yakitori)
J. Kenji López-Alt
Once you have a batch of homemade teriyaki sauce on hand, this recipe could hardly be easier. The teriyaki sauce gives the skewers a sweet-and-savory profile, while the grilled scallions' crunch helps balance the juiciness of the chicken thigh. As with any skewer recipe, thread the pieces fairly close together on each skewer to help them retain moisture—and, of course, don't skimp on the sauce.
Thai-Style Chicken Satay With Peanut-Tamarind Sauce
J. Kenji López-Alt
There are many good reasons to own a mortar and pestle, but my personal favorite may be that it affords you the opportunity to just bash a lot of things into tiny pieces. You'll get to do plenty of that for this Thai-style chicken satay, which starts with a powerful aromatic paste featuring lemongrass, turmeric, garlic, ginger, and toasted coriander and white pepper. We combine the paste with coconut milk and fish sauce to form a marinade for small pieces of chicken thigh meat before they're skewered and grilled. The tart-sweet flavor of tamarind in the accompanying peanut dipping sauce makes it a perfect complement to the skewers' smoky char.
Grilled Tarragon-Mustard Chicken Skewers
Morgan Eisenberg
Lemon and mustard are both powerful acids, which help to tenderize chicken, and they work so quickly that their flavors can penetrate the meat in just an hour of marination time. The sweetness of honey and acidity of the lemon juice and mustard help balance out the strong anise-y flavor of tarragon here. This quick recipe is a good argument all on its own for introducing more weeknight grilling into your life.
Main Dishes
Easy Pressure Cooker Green Chili With Chicken
Tumblr media
J. Kenji López-Alt
Chicken thighs take well to braising and other moist cooking methods, such as in this chile verde, which also gets a flavor boost from using dark meat. Plus, with the power of a pressure cooker at your disposal, you'll achieve results in 30 minutes that would normally take hours on the stovetop. A combination of tomatillos, Poblano peppers, Anaheims, and serranos yields a complexly flavored sauce, and a small amount of fish sauce gives the chili an extra hit of umami once it's finished.
Crispy Braised Chicken Thighs With Cabbage and Bacon
J. Kenji López-Alt
Cabbage and pork are a classic combination, and in this easy, hearty one-pan braise, we pair both with chicken thighs to great effect. By cooking the chicken thighs and bacon directly on top of a bed of shredded cabbage, we ensure the vegetables absorb flavor from both meats. The clincher? The whole dish takes just over an hour, start to finish.
Grilled Chicken and Pork Paella
Vicky Wasik
The key to nailing a proper paella is browning every single ingredient very well before adding any liquid. Since the chicken is going to be first browned and then cooked in stock and puréed tomatoes, it needs to be able to hold up to an extended cooking time, which means thigh meat is what you want here. For a party-sized paella like this one, emulate traditional methods and make it outside on the grill—it's the best way to ensure such a large volume heats evenly. If you're not a paella purist, check out our paella mixta, too, which incorporates both chicken leg meat and seafood.
Kimchi-Brined Fried Chicken Sandwich
Vicky Wasik
Fans of Kenji's five-ingredient pickle-brined fried chicken sandwich, or any fried chicken sandwich, won't want to miss out on this twist. We marinate chicken thighs in a mixture of kimchi brine, buttermilk, and gochugaru (Korean red chili flakes) before dredging and frying, then top the fried chicken with chopped kimchi and kimchi-infused mayo. (For extra credit, try serving it on Stella's flaky Black Sesame Buttermilk Biscuits.) Safe to say, I'll be dreaming about this sandwich for a few months at least.
Vietnamese-Style Baked Chicken
Emily and Matt Clifton
Another easy weeknight dinner, this one-pan recipe for baked chicken thighs relies heavily on a flavorful marinade full of Vietnamese flavors—bright, umami, and just a little spicy. It's certainly worth the few items you'll have to add to your grocery list. Here's a tip: Make sure you prepare your rice (because you're going to need plenty of rice on the side!) while the chicken is marinating.
Oyakodon (Japanese Chicken and Egg Rice Bowl)
J. Kenji López-Alt
Oyakodon, a rice bowl topped with simmered chicken and softly cooked eggs, is pure Japanese comfort food, and easy to make at home. The extra egg yolk on top is optional, but we love any chance to pop open a golden yolk, swirling it around and around in the bowl so its richness gets into every corner.
Chicken Scarpariello (Braised Chicken With Sausage and Peppers)
J. Kenji López-Alt
Chicken scarpariello is an old Italian-American standby of braised chicken thighs, sausage, and peppers in a punchy sweet-and-sour sauce, and it's simple enough to make any night of the week. Achieving the most possible flavor in the sauce depends heavily on the drippings from the chicken, so it's best to use bone-in, skin-on thighs. We sear those thighs until they're deeply browned before adding them to a pan with sautéed garlic, onion, and bell pepper; browned sausage; and pickled cherry peppers along with their liquid, before popping it all in the oven to braise.
One-Pan Chicken, Sausage, and Brussels Sprouts
Emily and Matt Clifton
It's hard to think of a culinary image makeover that's been more dramatic than that of Brussels sprouts—the days of their reputation as mushy, sulfur-scented lumps are over. That's thanks in large part to the realization that intensely high heat is the key to getting them crisp, nutty-sweet, and delicious. This recipe roasts halved Brussels sprouts, sliced sausage, and bone-in chicken thighs all in one pan, where (just as in some of the previous recipes) the meat gets tender and well browned, and the sprouts' flavor benefits from mingling with all those juices.
Creole-Style Red Jambalaya With Chicken, Sausage, and Shrimp
Tumblr media
Vicky Wasik
Building layers of flavor in a jambalaya is just as important as it is for a soup. In this recipe, the chicken and sausage join forces to flavor the stock. Once the chicken has been browned, it goes into the oven along with the rice, aromatics, and braising liquid—cooking in the oven is our secret to avoiding burnt rice and the need for frequent stirring—so the forgiving nature of chicken thighs is a must here.
Chicken Massaman Curry With Wheat Beer and Potatoes
Emily and Matt Clifton
If you're put off by overly spicy curries that leave you in tears, give massaman curry a whirl—a product of Middle Eastern migration to Southeast Asia, it uses milder spices that build warmth and aroma rather than fire. Boneless and skinless thighs work fine here, especially since they're easily cut into small pieces. We simmer them, along with potatoes, in a coconut milk– and chicken stock–based sauce, plus a surprise ingredient—Belgian-style wheat beer.
Coconut- and Ají Amarillo–Braised Chicken
Vicky Wasik
While you can technically highlight any chili pepper of your choosing for these braised chicken thighs, the recipe is especially well suited to ají amarillo, a bright and fruity orange pepper that's native to Peru. The mellow, sweet coconut milk takes on the golden color of the ají amarillo quite nicely, making this dish perfect for a day when you'd like a little more sun.
Grilled Tandoori Chicken Patties With Jalapeño-Mint Yogurt Sauce
Morgan Eisenberg
Blending the ground chicken here with a yogurt marinade, along with the thigh meat's natural ability to retain moisture, helps ensure these patties come out juicy after grilling. An array of spices creates a warm, Indian-inspired profile, balanced out by the cooling jalapeño-mint yogurt sauce dolloped on top. Serve these on toasted flatbread for an easy, handheld summer dinner.
Broiled Tandoori-Style Chicken With Almonds and Couscous
Vicky Wasik
Broiling is another high-heat cooking method in which chicken thighs can shine—a broiler may not be as powerful as a tandoor, but it's about as close as you're going to get with standard indoor home equipment. We tenderize the chicken in a mix of yogurt and spices, then broil it, along with the marinade, in a skillet until it's nicely browned. The liquid from the skillet does double duty, adding flavor to a side dish of fluffy couscous.
Chicken Thighs With Saffron, Lemon, and Red Potatoes
Yasmin Fahr
Coming together in a single pan in just an hour, this recipe is great for whipping up on a Tuesday night after a tiring day of work. Searing the chicken thighs first delivers crispy skin and adds extra flavor to the braising liquid, while a pinch of saffron turns the dish delightfully golden and fragrant. After the sear, we add chicken stock, quartered red potatoes, saffron, lemon juice, and black peppercorns, then stick the skillet in the oven—that's it.
Korean-Style Fire Chicken (Buldak) With Cheese
Vicky Wasik
Using stronger-flavored dark-meat chicken in this hot, spicy, and gooey dish just makes sense—the chicken has a lot of other flavors to compete with, including fresh red chilies, gochugaru, gochujang (Korean chili paste), ginger, black pepper, and more. While the cheese broiled over the top might seem like gilding the lily, it's not true buldak without it. Crack open a beer, get ready to sweat, and embrace the overkill.
Bengali Rice Porridge With Lentils and Chicken
Vicky Wasik
This porridge is pure comfort food, perfect for those days when you feel a cold coming on or when it's gray and rainy out. Gently crushing some of the rice leaves smaller bits that dissolve into the turmeric- and ginger-scented porridge, making it nicely thick, and diced chicken thigh, potato, and red lentils turn it into a hearty, warming meal. But the best part, in my opinion, is the topping of crispy fried shallots, since I'm constantly looking for excuses to make more and sprinkle them over everything. That counts as meal prep, right?

Happy Valentine’s Day (or late Valentine’s Day depending lol) There’s something I’ve been wondering since the last chapter of CDAP- what would happen if Vidie and Spam had tried the other Addison teas?
Ok so if they tried the other teas I think it would have gone a bit differently.
Spamton would probably jokingly rate the flavors and be a bit honest about how each had changed and lamented on whether he missed the old flavors or not. I think he would leave it vague if he did or not, both so Vidie wouldn't tell and to not hurt Vidie if he avoided doing so when he eventually got to her tea. Vidie would drink the teas and feel a lot of remorse with each of them. Despite Spamton not really hating the new flavors, Vidie may have had a worse reaction cause well... The ads spent years actively building resentment toward each other. They of course missed each other but part of why they never tried to reconcile outside of Spam coming back was bitterness. Vidie would taste a weird and overwhelming combination of the nice flavor she remembers and the unsavory ones they are currently still working through. Spamton missed them a lot, and his pallet is more pliable. To be honest, it would depend on the day on how well the tea tasted, the chapter happen to be a day he was feeling very fondly of Vidie.
It would end the same, with Vidie and Spamton tasting each other's teas and becoming a bit emotional but otherwise I feel like it would give Vidie some chip on his shoulder that they shared this little gossip moment. As for the taste of each tea to Vidie and Spam:
Banner Tea: It's watered down for Vidie currently, a bitterness kinda like alcohol with a faint sweetness reminding her how it should taste. Maybe she can taste more of it with every sip or maybe it's just hope. Once upon a time it had the playful taste of blackberries mixed with it but it's pretty dull now. A good tea to think with still.
For Spamton it's the opposite, sweet like you tried to cover up its naturally bitter taste but overdid it which makes it all the worse. The saving grace is the taste of blueberries, which almost feel like it was brewed in the juice. It tastes like an unripe fruit all things considered and he continues to drink it to imagine what it could be like if you gave it more time to grow.
Surv Tea: To Vidie it's Lemon ginger tea with way too much ginger, like you took a bite of ginger and then drank hot lemon water. It tastes over-brewed like you missed a mark by waiting too long, it's got that spice-like burn that only lingers for a second, reminding you that you messed up even if it isn't saying so. Can easily be fixed with some sweetness and some ice.
To Spam, it's your average black tea with lemon in it, but sugar instead of honey. It for all intents and purposes tastes the same as it did before but the sweetness seems more artificial and he can somehow taste the bitterness from the lemon rind. It's not unappetizing but it's disappointing cause it could've been better if you just switched a few things around.
Audi Tea: Vidie knows it's not supposed to be this watered down. Think of sweet iced tea with an orange slice dropped in, citrus that doesn't exactly add a twang but still enhances the flavor. Now imagine that it didn't brew long enough and the ice has melted and the orange wasn't juicy enough. It's palatable but it tastes like something that would've been perfect if you just gave it more attention. It's still pretty refreshing so I guess it's not that bad...
This is the sweetest tea Spamton has ever tasted. It's like orange marmalade and passion tea had a baby. It's not bad but it's hard to take in one sitting like you'd start to feel ill cause you or rather Spam just isn't used to it anymore. The orangey taste isn't defined anymore either which makes the sweetness just that much more overbearing. It's not the tea's fault but it's gonna take some time until Spam can handle it all again.

Well, listen up! While juice cleanses and fad diets might be tempting, a sustainable weight loss plan is key. Here's where juices can be awesome allies! Packed with vitamins, minerals, and water, they can help you feel fuller for longer, curb cravings, and give your body a healthy boost.
But with all those juicing recipes out there, where do you even start? Don't worry, I've got you covered! Here's my top 10 list of weight-loss friendly juices, along with some tips to make juicing a fun and effective part of your journey.
Hydration Hero: Celery Juice
Tumblr media
We all know water is king, but sometimes you crave something with a little more flavor. Celery juice is your low-cal BFF. At over 95% water, it keeps you hydrated while being super low in calories. Plus, it's packed with antioxidants and beneficial plant compounds that fight inflammation – a big factor in weight gain.
Tip: Celery juice can be a bit strong on its own. Try adding a squeeze of lemon or a cucumber for a refreshing twist.
2. Green Goodness: Classic Green Juice
Tumblr media
Think of green juice as a garden in a glass! Leafy greens like kale, spinach, and swiss chard are loaded with vitamins, minerals, and fiber (although juicing removes some fiber, you'll still get a good dose). They also help with digestion and reduce inflammation.
Tip: Don't be afraid to experiment with flavors! Add some sweetness with apple or pear, or a zing with lemon or grapefruit.
3. Belly Buster: Watermelon Mint Cooler
Tumblr media
Watermelon is practically synonymous with summer, but it's a weight-loss warrior year-round! This juicy fruit is high in water and low in calories, making it super filling. Plus, it contains L-citrulline, an amino acid that can help your body burn fat more efficiently. Mint adds a refreshing touch and aids digestion.
Tip: For an extra protein boost, add a handful of chia seeds to your juice.
4. Citrus Powerhouse: Grapefruit and Ginger Juice
Tumblr media
Grapefruit is a breakfast staple for a reason! Studies suggest it can help with weight management by promoting feelings of fullness and regulating blood sugar. Ginger adds a spicy kick that can also help curb cravings and boost your metabolism.
Tip: If the tartness of grapefruit is a bit much, try adding a squeeze of orange or a dash of honey for a touch of sweetness.
5. Beet It! Beetroot and Carrot Blast
Tumblr media
Beetroot might seem like an unusual juicing ingredient, but hear me out! This vibrant root vegetable is loaded with antioxidants and nitrates, which can help improve blood flow and oxygen delivery to your muscles, enhancing your workouts. Carrots add a touch of sweetness and beta-carotene, which is great for your skin.
Tip: Beetroot can stain, so be careful when prepping! Wear gloves or wash your hands thoroughly afterwards.
6. Tropical Twist: Pineapple and Spinach Surprise
Tumblr media
Don't let the spinach scare you away! This tropical blend is a delicious way to get your daily dose of greens. Pineapple is a natural source of bromelain, an enzyme that can help with digestion and reduce inflammation. Plus, it's sweet and juicy, making the spinach more palatable.
Tip: Frozen pineapple chunks are a great way to add a frosty feel to your juice on a hot day.
7. Berry Blast: Mixed Berry Medley
Tumblr media
Berries are nutritional powerhouses! Packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and fiber, they can help keep you feeling full and regulate blood sugar. This mix allows you to play with different flavors – strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, the choice is yours!
Tip: If you're using frozen berries, there's no need to add ice cubes.
8. Spicy Sunrise: Veggie and Ginger Kickstart
Tumblr media
Looking for a morning pick-me-up with a kick? This juice is your answer! Start with cucumber and celery for hydration, then add a zing with ginger and jalapeno (be careful with the amount!). Finish it off with a squeeze of lemon for a vitamin C boost.
Tip: This juice can be quite spicy. Adjust the amount of jalapeno to your taste preference.
9. Creamy Dream: Tropical Protein Powerhouse

Of course, not everyone like the strong flavour of ginger just because it is ginger. To improve it, some may opt to use ginger tea, for example. Question is, does ginger tea help with headaches and migraines? The short answer is yes–ginger tea for headaches and migraines has been known to be a great home remedy. For maximum effect, it is best taken at the very onset of a migraine attack.
How to make Homemade Ginger Tea (Serve Hot or Cold).
Ingredients
4-6 thin slices raw ginger
1  1/2 – 2 cups water
Juice from 1/2 lime, or to taste (may use lemon instead of lime)
1-2 tbsp honey or agave nectar, or to taste
Preparation
Peel the ginger and slice thinly to maximize the surface area. This will help you make a very flavorful ginger tea. Boil the ginger in water for at least 10 minutes. For a stronger and tangier tea, allow to boil for 20 minutes or more, and use more slices of ginger. Remove from heat and add lime juice and honey (or agave nectar) to taste.
For stronger ginger flavour, simply slice ginger into paper-thin slices, without peeling it, bring it to boil, then turn it down and let it simmer for 30 mins then cover it and let it sit overnight. It will develop a really strong ginger flavor and a lovely brown color. The next morning, strain it and either bottle it or, add the lemon juice and serve. You can sweeten with honey, brown or white sugar, or artificial sweetener like erythritol or stevia. The ginger will have a strong, deep flavor and spicy, heat you simply can’t get by pouring hot water over it, or letting it steep for a short time.
Pst, neeways, if you are making ginger tea as a home remedy during cold and flu season, sweeteners are not recommended.
