Forgive me if I'm a bit nervous about Gorgug this season. It's just that the last Zac Oyama pc was Colin Provolone, who was arguably one of his greatest D20 performances, if not the greatest.

Zac always does great with every pc he plays, but Colin was something else. He came out swinging with actions and words that were teeming with unspoken emotional baggage. The way Colin's presence affected the other pcs; there was this level of depth that I don't think I've seen in any of his other characters. It was understated and quiet in that signature "just a guy" way that he tends to be, while still captivating everyone instantly with just how raw it was.

Not to say we haven't seen emotional depth in Gorgug. It's just that, compared to the other Bad Kids, Gorgug's journey and progression as a character has been very... impersonal? Like, yes, he found his birth parents, and he found friends who appreciate him, and he faced his insecurities about his intelligence, and he navigated relationship troubles, and his trial through the claustrophobic bug-tunnels was a horrifically-uncanny parallel to how he's spent his entire life trying to make himself as small as possible.

But how much of that has actually changed him from the Gorgug we started with? I would agree that he's definitely happier with his life, given all the loving and supportive people that have been added to it when it used to be just him and his parents. And he's certainly grown into himself and become more self-assured in his abilities, even if he's still, and always will be, our anxious little guy. And there's nothing wrong with that. I've always liked how Gorgug was a representation of all the little things. The subtle acts and kindnesses that don't seem like much to most, but to some are everything.

We don't need another Bad Kid living in fear that their mouth could be shit-in at any moment. We've already got one-too-many.

All that being said, I just feel like Gorgug's personal story beats are much easier to sweep under the rug than everyone else's. He has the same soft and understated quality that Colin held, but they lack that extra oomph that pushed Colin over the edge from being just another guy in a series of dudes, to a character that the vast majority of us could not get out of our heads. He took someone who was anxious and softspoken, who ultimately never wanted to be violent— someone who is remarkably similar to Gorgug in many ways— and maintained that demeanor and core in Colin's character while still hitting us in the feels with character development at max velocity at every turn.

I think Zac gets better and better at this with every season that goes by. With each new character, there is always something that leaves me stunned in awe. And it's been, what, three? Four years since we last saw Gorgug?

I'm just,,, I'm cautiously optimistic but also going into a bit of a worry about what violence this man may inflict upon us

its always surreal to me to see people praise s2 of centaurworld. s2 was so spectacularly bombastic and aimless and it ended in this awkward forgettable fizzle.

i feel like a dick saying it b/c i really do love the show lmao. or, at least half of it lmao (/stares at tnwk). gf and i've been thinking about rewatching it just to write out our thoughts on why s2 was such a poor follow-up to s1 - from the tone to the setup to all the worldbuilding the narrative had to offer in between the (far more) memorable songs of s1. idk. it's sad because cw really had the bones of a cult classic, but idek if you can call it that.

ive seen a few posts commenting on its lack of popularity, and i feel like it certainly deserves more, b/c i do feel like it's a novel idea made w/ love, but the shift btwn s1 and s2 wasnt just in the plot. there was a full-on *fracture* in the quality and direction and i'm still scratching my head over it. more than i should be, probably. but, it's just a bummer.

What if Luxord was Keykiid's apprentice? I believe this because they both use cards (in Chi, before the medals, cards were used) they both use darkness and light, in addition to ludor, one of the possible names of Luxord's somebody, which means playing, what do you think?

it's an interesting theory! i've been thinking of the possibility that player themself could be luxord (though it's a bit of a stretch since we don't know what the exact rules for reincarnation are yet), but apprentice seems plausible too — especially since in the jp dialogue for the final dark road cutscene, xehanort calls player "master" (not necessarily indicative of them having apprentices, but interesting to note either way)

related to their similarities, i also keep thinking about that kh3 remind scene between luxord and xigbar, specifically where luxord says, "yes, that's what i've always done. i followed the orders from above without question." obviously this could just as easily be me picking out coincidences and making connections where there aren't any, but i have to admit that it just makes me think of player's line in the clock tower when they confronted their foreteller: "i've done everything that was expected of me without a second thought."

which also reminds me of luxord saying "the game isn't over until it's over" in the caribbean, which seems to be becoming something of a reoccuring line — it's said once in the loading screen of xehanort and eraqus's chess game with the exact same wording, ephemer says a variant of it in the khux finale ("it's not over till it's over, skuld."), and even player sorta says it right before they fade away though it's a lot more truncated and could be handwaved away ("it's not over yet."). it's interesting to me to see who gets those lines, and out of all of those luxord's sticks out like a sore thumb to me; sure, games are kinda his thing, but it seems like a line that's gaining some importance, so to give it to luxord of all people feels suspicious — all part of him becoming more important in the story moving forward supposedly

(and this probably isn't related at all so i'm just slipping this in last, but in that dark road q&a there's a question about odin where nomura just says "Naturally, Master Odin also had a master to mentor him. Said master entrusted Odin with a mission, which actually ties in with the identity of the blue-robed individual." and it just . it hasn't left my head because there are so many things you could extrapolate from it. does this imply player and odin had the same master? or is player odin's master? are they completely unrelated and the mission is the only thing that connects them? it keeps me up at night)

anyway i'm rambling but tldr; i think there's a lot of tiny details that link player and luxord together and it's fun to think about what their connection could possibly be, and i'm more than excited to see what gets revealed about them in the coming installments !!

dinosaurs are one of my biggest special interests. tf2 is probably getting close as well. i will now ramble endlessly about my thoughts, assigning those old men dinosaurs and you're all gonna listen. also, this is based like...99% off of the characters, not taking gameplay stuff into account. it probably makes less sense in that scenario

so, i COULD be boring and bland and predictable and say Scout would fit a Velociraptor...and im gonna. theyre small, agile, a middle ground between labrador levels of dumb and raven levels of smart. relies on others around him to succeed, and i think he deserves to be small and fluffy ^_^

Medic, i think, wouldnt be a dinosaur at all. instead, i see him as a pterosaur! more specifically, Quetzalcoatlus. absolutely massive, terrifying and unsettling to look at, probably more dangerous than it looks (and it looks dangerous). something about it just looks right for him

Pyro's choice is 50% for the name: a Pyroraptor. i also think its cute how striking the resemblance would be with Scout as a Velociraptor: pretty similar in size, build, matching silly levels!! theres also something about the "looks cute, seems cute, moves like a deadly predator, kills like something far worse" kinda deal going on here

Sniper is also technically not a dinosaur! Deinosuchus, an absolutely huge crocodilian, just felt. correct. while not very australian (i actually considered a Minmi for a while!), there is just no choice. big crocodile, patient hunter, strange and offputting. probably bites

Heavy, who i almost dubbed a Borealopelta, is SUCH good Therizinosaurus material. massive, terrifying weapons (im aware that recent study/s suggest their claws werent used for combat. i simply do not care ^_^), but absolute softies. Therizinosaurus was a strict herbivore (contrary to first thoughts after its discovery!), and i think the contrast in appearance vs behavior lines up kinda nice

no explanation needed. look at the image. need i say more. assigning anything besides a Pachycephalosaurus to Engie is just wrong. enjoys play fighting with Pyro and knocking them down (gently) a lot

pretty privilege: the animal. like Microraptor: not very big, probably annoying, weirdly ruthless. spilling anything on them would result in a very slow head turn that signals your incoming demise. has learned to take advantage of Engie's big ass head: he cant actually feel that thing. perfect place to crouch on without causing alarm

i struggled the most with Demo because nothing seemed like...obvious to me? i have very little to say abt this one, i picked Suchomimus based purely off of vibes. i imagined it and it made sense

Soldier has two options, one is funnier than the other. primarily, i'd see him as a Daspletosaurus! one of the smaller tyrannosaurs, still very big though (~8ft tall, ish?). alternatively, i can NOT get the idea of him as a Protoceratops out of my HEAD. small ("small" is relative here. think of like...a really large dog), probably barks for fun, loves digging holes, has every disease

if i could draw with a mild level of skill, i'd be drawing them all day. they mean everything to me. im imagining them so much and its doing wonders for my mind. (also, the scaling off the animals + mercs in these images are not accurate in the slightest, thats just how it turned out)

i know the Willow Mellow lore gets worse the longer you dig inside of it + it reflects even Worse on the writers when you put the actual words on her situation but let's not forget Darlings she is a child. she is 15 to 17yo depending on what piece of documentation we refer to, too young to consent to sex and therefore does not fit the category of "sex worker", and instead falls under the definitions of "sexually exploited youth", more specifically "sexually exploited child", as UNICEF, UNESCO, Convention for the Rights of the Child, [...] and general common sense all define "child" as "person under the age of 18".

she is the victim of kidnapping by her """adoptive father""" and of sexual exploitation by her (presumably adult) "clients" (as she does not appear to have a pimp, and is instead written saying she loves what she does and such giddy teehee fun. [powerful side-eye through someone in the writing team.] [she's not a Real Person I have to stress, so someone wrote her like this, wrote this kid like this.] [it is all part of a narrative in which she is struggling to shake off her "father's" exploitation, an inherently tragic one, but she still was written that way, and could have been written any other way, with any other "rebellious" act]). calling her a sex worker as a child who is basically the same age as P2 Capella or Grace is putting her in a Grown-Up category especially harmful considering we are supposed to read her as an indigenous girl, member of the Kin (even if her lore is Mysterious and Hazy) and indigenous women and girls are sexualized in racialized ways which often paint them as more ~~~naturally~~~ sexually liberated, or docile, or submissive, or [insert racist x sexist stereotype promoted by colonizers to excuse the mistreatment of indigenous women and girls].

tldr yes it's worse when you actually call her what she actually is, and worse tenfold when you read what the writers make her say about it [even as an inherently tragic situation that we can recognize and put words on (hence this post), she could have been written any other way, with any other rebellious act, but you know.] but you know x2 (SIDE-EYES SOMEONE ON THE WRITING TEAM VERY HARD TIL ME EYES POP OUT ME SKULL)
