Star fruit: favorite sea creature? Sea horses. I've always lived on the coast, basically grew up in the ocean and I was also obsessed with horses growing up. So, sea horses always seemed like the logical choice because in a weird sort of way, they allowed me to combine two of my favorite things - the ocean and horses. They're these tiny bony fish (yes fish) that do resemble horses that live in the ocean. How cool is that? That was my thought process when I was younger. Then as I grew older and actually learned more about them, I realized that they really are fascinating. The most interesting thing that I find about them is that male sea horses are the ones that carry the fertilized eggs. After an elaborate courtship, the female uses an ovipositor (egg duct) to place her eggs into a brood pouch located at the base of the male’s tail where the eggs are later fertilized. Depending on the species, the eggs remain in the pouch between 10 days and six weeks. During this time the male nurtures the developing young by regulating the chemistry of the fluid inside the pouch, slowly transforming it from that of his internal body fluids to that of salt water as pregnancy progresses. To nourish the growing young, the male also produces inorganic compounds and releases the hormone prolactin, which helps break down the proteins contributed by the female. Once the eggs hatch, the male convulses his body and expels the young through a single opening in the pouch. The young are miniature versions of their parents that receive no further care. The male can receive another brood of eggs almost immediately after giving birth. They're also good at camouflage, have prehensile tails (like monkeys and are the only type of fishes who have them), aren't good swimmers, are essentially monogamists, and don't have any teeth or a stomach. Fascinating, right?

ah! thank you, sam, i'll be forwarding this on. as for the five things that make me happy:

tv shows/movies/books - little fictional guys and their fictional scenarios just really intrigue me

stationery - i have a huge collection of pens, types of paper, notebooks, stickers, washi tape, etc. you name it and i probably have it or it's on my jetpens wishlist

travel - right now i am actually doing a semester abroad in australia and it's been so amazing! i can't wait to go more places and see more of the world

cats - been really missing my kitties back home tbh

food - i've gotten more into cooking since living on my own and i can appreciate all the love and hard work that goes into making meals and baked goods and such

*assuming whoever is reading this already knows how to make a gif in photoshop*

I'm pretty sure I used the font Elephant for this set that you linked.

tl;dr if you have a lot of photoshop/text editing knowledge already: create a layer of text > duplicate it > select the bottom layer > go to blending options > add a stroke > ok that > set the layer fill to 0% > reposition the layer a couple of nudges to one side and a couple of nudges down > select the top text layer > go to blending options > add a drop shadow > add a gradient > ok that > set the top layer to difference > enjoy <3

if you want a more in depth tutorial with screenshots:

add your text to your gif with whichever font, size and placement you like

make sure the first text layer you want to edit is selected and press ctrl+J to create a copy of the layer (or right click > duplicate layer... > ok)

select the first text layer again

double click the layer (or right click > blending options), tick the stroke box and use these settings:

press ok

change the fill to 0% (leave the opacity at 100% because you still want the layer itself with the stroke/outline to be opaque but you want the text colour/filled in part of the layer to be transparent)

make sure the 'move' tool is selected

use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move the text layer with the stroke (i did 3 to the left and 3 down but do whatever works with your chosen font and size (edit: i think i moved it a few nudges right for the original set rather than left just make it up as you go along with me jfngkf)). it should look like this:

select the duplicated layer you made above the first one

double click the layer (or right click > blending options) and tick the box for drop shadow. I pretty much always use these settings:

then tick the box to add a gradient overlay, it doesn't matter which colours or angle you use, you can play around and adjust it to whatever makes sense with your gif, so if you think the gradient would look better horizontal or vertical or at a different angle, just change the number of degrees it's at until you like it.

click the coloured box next to the option that says 'Gradient:' and this box should pop up:

to change the colours click the little coloured box under the gradient bar you want to change then the box underneath called 'Color:' should light up for you to click on, then either pick a colour or paste in the hex code

for the colours in the set you linked i used #9fb552 for the lighter green and #2f4f2b for the darker green then press ok

if you want to adjust the colour fade, you can drag the coloured squares along the bar or click somewhere just under the gradient bar to add another colour (you could add a third colour or another shade of the same colour, play around until you like how it looks! you can always go back into it at the end and keep adjusting once you can see how the whole thing looks put together.)

ok everything when you have it how you want it, then your text should look like this:

now change the blending on that same layer to 'difference'

the text should now look like this:

*note, the colours may change when they're blended differently, so like i said earlier you can go back and play around with the colours or shade you picked until they match your gif

if you have another text layer you want to look the same rather than repeating all of the steps, duplicate that one too, use the move tool to reposition the lower layer again and right click > copy layer style > right click > paste layer style on the corresponding layers

now when you play your gif, the text should look like this:

and you're done!

Hii!! so 2024 is right around the corner, happy new year yayay. Actually, if I think too much about it I think I'll start crying cause like what do you mean we're less than 42 hours from staring a new year?!! 2023 doesn't feel real tbh time in general doesn't feel real but yeah anyways I'll save that convo for another time. I'm here today to reflect on all the gifsets I've made throughout this year, which let me add, has been A LOT. I'm going to start by sharing some fun stats (yes renee I'm copying you <33), and then I'll do a fun top 5 of my fave gifsets, and to finish it off I'd also like to use this to shout out some of my fave people and creators on this hellsite cause you all made my 2023 so much better and I love you all for that <333

fun statistics:

In total I made 61 gifsets in 2023

57 are heartstopper (not surprised)

In august I made 20 gifsets, which are the most gifsets I've made in a month this year

top 5 gifsets from 2023 (in no particular order)

that one dnp gifset: I think most people know that I was and still am a big dan and phil fan, and that I spent most of my teenage years obsessing over them and giffing them and only them. Well, they went on hiatus and they stopped having a big impact on my life util they decided to come back and ruin my life again (in a good way). This gifset was the first time I giffed them since like idk 2019/2020, and it does mean a lot to me :') it's not really about the concept and the coloring, I chose this one to be apart of my top 5 for sentimental reasons, and I think that's valid.

give your friendships the magic you would give a romance: once again, sentimental reasons. when I read this quote on loveless it just spoke to me in so many levels. One of the things I love the most about heartstopper is the importance they give to friendship and I just had to make something that highlighted that and I think it turned out super good.

I think nellie loves him: well, now I think I snapped with this one akdhjahak I just love it so much. the coloring.. the heartstopper tv scenes with the heartstopper comic scenes, like chef's kiss, just perfect. of course this is not an original idea so I'd love to thank @rose-nobles for inspiring this gifset <33

mr. ajayi loves museum dates with his grumpy bf: and just like that we are back to sentimental reasons ahdhkas. well, this was one of the first gifsets I made when season two came out and it blew up. I've never had that many notes on a gifset, and honestly I think it's well deserved cause the coloring is good and I had finally just figured out how to sharpen gifs, so yeah love that for me.

I'm bi actually: I had so much fun making this one. the amount of bi coded elements and colors I included on this, I WAS ON A MISSION. the fact I made the font wobbly hsjgdjaka, I love love this gifset.
