Describing the dancing scene was more difficult than I thought but still managed to have this in time, so I hope you like it 

I love that “Rayla” comes from “ray of light” and I used that here because I needed to share my love for it.

So this is an excerpt from my very first post which was a Janaya fanfiction called "Signs Of Love" by AngelsFallFirst. It is on Ao3 and fanfiction.net.

I just wanted to post since we never really got to see the first Janaya kiss. It takes place while they were flying to the Storm Spire on Embertail and Janai decided to take a rest stop...

"You ... you're asking if I think you're beautiful?" she asked quietly and Amaya turned her head away.

With a jolt of her heart the elf touched the human's chin, turning her face back to her. The General's face was darker than usual and her brown eyes avoided the elf's orange ones.

"Amaya," Janai whispered, her heart now racing faster than ever. Then she said gently, "Why would you think anything else? I have noticed your beauty quite immediately, back at the breach already. We fought against each other and I just thought, damn, who is this gorgeous lady? And then the fact you didn't say a word on our way to Lux Aurea ... I thought you were only offended because we've caught you. But I'm sure you noticed that I couldn't stop looking at you? That wasn't because I imprisoned you. I couldn't stop looking because you fascinated me. So yes, I think you're beautiful. Very. Also without a flower in your hair. I lo-" Janai bit her lip and quickly caught herself. "I like your eyes. They're stunning. And your smile is breathtaking. I have rarely met anyone more beautiful than you. No - I have never." Now it was Janai's turn to blush. Especially as she caught Amaya's look, her eyes were wide and fixed on her lips. Her lips were apart and her lower lip was trembling.

She pulled her hand out of the water and placed them on Janai's shoulders.

Then her eyes travelled up to Janai's and as they met, Janai felt the world stand still. All of a sudden there was no sorrow. There was no war. There was no difference between them, it didn't matter that they were a human and an elf.

There was only them, sitting by a river on a green meadow. A light blast of the wind made Amaya's hair move and Janai felt her heart clench because of so much beauty that was in front of her. It hurt her, knowing that there was a human like Amaya out there whom she would soon probably never see again.

After the war, they'd be strangers again. Maybe even enemies. Or maybe she'd be dead.

Amaya was still holding her shoulders, so Janai placed her hands on the General's waist.

Amaya smiled.

And then she moved closer, just a bit.

Her hands travelled up to the elf's hot cheeks, cupping them and carefully pulling her face closer.

"Amaya," Janai whispered. Her insides were panicking, her heart was racing. "What are you up to?"

Amaya ignored her. With an impish smile she closed the gap between their faces and placed a feathery kiss on Janai's lips.

The elf didn't even have the time to comprehend what had happened, so quickly had the General pulled away again. And only seconds after she had already stood up and walked away.

Janai closed her eyes for a while, trying to remember how it had felt. Like a butterfly that had sat on her lips for only a second, for sure, but also ... wonderful.

It had felt right.

Janai jumped up. "Amaya, wait!" she called, knowing well that she couldn't hear her.

She ran after her, reaching her after a few steps. She grabbed the shoulders of the human General and pulled her back and down to the ground.

Amaya yelped as her back hit the meadow but as she saw Janai hover over her, her smile returned to her face. She grinned at the elf, mischievously and challenging.

Kiss me, her eyes said and Janai did.

She covered her prisoner's body with hers, pulled the flower out of Amaya's dark hair, buried her hands into them and finally, finally crashed her lips on the other's.

it really just hit me that we're gonna get a Janaya hurt comfort scene where Amaya is there for Janai after she's had a nightmare. that is literally one of my favourite fanfic tropes WE WON

I do wonder sometimes what made me fall in love with ruthari as much as I did, instead of rayllum. I mean, they're pretty much background characters (at least at this stage) who had a grand total of 1 minute-long scene together in the show.

And yet I love them so much that I started drawing fanart, and not just my own stuff. Hell, I even started writing a few fanfics, which even a few months ago I had a very strong aversion to.

And I think, on top of loving them both as characters, with Ethari being second only to Amaya as my favourite, the main reason is that I find it very, very comforting.

Never before in a show aimed at kids have I seen a queer couple with so little screentime have such a beautiful, tender moment together. To be handled with so much care and love. Despite having only seen Ethari for like, a minute at that point, that episode absolutely broke me.

And reading bloodmoon huntress only solidified that. We got to see so much more of their dynamic, and the amount of softness and trust and understanding between them made me feel... so many emotions.

We've seen a lot of beginnings in the show. We saw the first meetings and initial difficulties that rayllum and janaya faced. And so, in stark contrast to that, we have ruthari. A firmly established couple, who've built a beautiful life together. Not without its flaws, admittedly - especially given where they are in canon right now - but there's something about seeing an adult queer couple living out that calm, loving existence that makes me melt every time I see it. Being queer myself, both janaya and ruthari are very special to me, but ruthari more so for that reason. The dragon prince really gave us that, and I'll treasure it forever.

So yeah, just a queer ramble from a queer soul. But who doesn't love a good ramble on this chaotic mess of a site? xD

it's funny how in 2/3 seasons janaya knew each other for like a week, and them holding hands in the end felt natural and perfect timewise

and then they're getting married after 2 years together and i'm sitting here like "huh, fells kinda rush. can we slow down a bit?"

and i guess it's cause of stupid between seasons timeskip. what the hell was that? i don't care for the stupid marriage. if it's just for "the rep" than we had it already - we had wlw marriage and wlw kiss on screen. what else is new

well, actual relationship development would be new. like... them actually trying to build their relationship? actually facing human/elves rivalry and how their relationship is veiwed by both of their worlds? at the dawn of said warlds being merged into one world, and not after stupid 2 years when noone really cares anymore. well, kinda cares but not really but kinda still upset but doesn't give a shit to be honest but still better not get married👿. still not the same and still not really interesting

i watched the dragon prince season 5 day yeterday-before. i really feel like i read a crackfic. it could be attributed to the fact that i have had really bad bouts of insomnia and have been reading unhealthy amounts of fanfic these past weeks, but idk... i decided to start watching it again to test my theory.

but for now, it stands that i felt like i watched an entire season that was actually just a cracky fanfic that tried to give off the tone of "taking itself seriously" but miserably failed.

idk, the fact that it's so cracky makes me wanna like it all the more, if it weren't for the fact that janaya's kiss (the only lesbian kiss of the season) was censored :/

idk, season 1-3 had so many more, and they weren't...censored.

Its a very rainy, stormy day on my vacation. That means reading Viravos and Janaya fanfic. And maybe a few Claudia/Terry, Karim/Pharos and Gren/Kazi ones as a treat
