Here’s part three of ‘drawing the different characters in my favourite outfits from them’ series.
Since Jonathan won the last poll, I had to draw him in his extremely dorky camera look. Also it’s summer now so why not draw him in a s3 look.
#the rat is also my favourite part#I could have made them look like how it looks in that particular episode but the idea of rat holding cheese was something I couldn’t pass on#stranger things#jonathan byers#jancy#tagging jancy because I know that this look is a favourite in our community

Jancy Week - Day 6
@jancyweeks
ink OR redamancy: the act of loving the one who loves you; a love returned in full
Jancy - Cool As I Think I Am (Reprise) (from Nerdy Prudes Must Die)
#jancyweek2023#faith edits#jancy#jonathan byers#nancy wheeler#oooh i loved making this one#the way the different lyrics overlapped briefly and then they come together before fading to just one#this song scratches a very particular itch#also embodies the “you never know when a ghost is beatboxing next to you” textpost#actually i think the original is breakdancing but it was beatboxing in the show#either way i love this song#hf/st crossover

Okay, rewatching 06×02 today! Let's go!
(future me here: this episode is 52 minutes long, why the fuck did I take ≈1h30 to write all of this. ;-;)
1) Hospital
Holy shit, I forgot how intense that whole scene is.
My poor baby's dying here. :((
2) Dustin and Steve
They're so awkward lol--
Feels weird to watch them like that after two and a half season of them being beasties, plus the whole fandom "mama Steve" thing.
Also,
Dustin: How do I know it's not a lizard? Because it's face opened up and it ate my cat.
THE WAY STEVE NODDED LIKE "yeah, fair enough" I CAN'T
I like how Steve middely belived Dustin about Dart tho, it shows how his character development is starting to actually happen but isn't really advanced yet. Idk.
3) Hospital
(the way Mike is just next to Will and watching at him like he's going to disappear if he stops looking makes me so happy TuT)
Joyce is such a badass protective mother I love her.
These damn scientist better be scared.
4) Nancy, Jonathan, and Murray
Badass detectives and journalists ✨
Love how Jancy got Murray'd. His talk is just SO iconic, I love it so much. 😌
Also, "Oh. Steve. We like Steve." THAT WAS SO UNNECESSARILY FUNNY HELP ME
5) Nancy and Jonathan
Oh my gosh just kiss already.
(kiss scene happens)
WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT I DIDN'T MEAN THAT LITERALLY WHAT THE FUCK JUMPSCARE 😰😰
(I actually forgot that they did, in fact, kiss here, and I was NOT prepared help me)
6) Lucas a Dustin (+Erica and Steve)
Love Erica's sassy self, but as an older sibling myself I would NOT like to have her as my sister. She's nosy as fuck.
Anyway, love how Lucas immediately apologize and how Dustin explain the situation so clearly. Love my boys. :)
7) Hopper and the scientists
Hopper: Why aren't you burning it?
Owens: There's been a complication.
Uh. That's one way to put it I guess.
8) Joyce and Bob (+ Will and Mike)
Love how Bob is still hella confused, but is trying to be supportive of Joyce. He would've been such a great dad and husband... Just, not the the Byers. :(
(Mike sleeping in the chair next to Will's bed and waking up right after him ToT💕💕)
Will is already forgetting things, my poor baby. :((
9) Nancy, Jonathan, and Murray
The breakfast scene is so funny help me--
Poor Jonathan has no idea what's going to happen once he gets back home. :(
Murray is so "weird oncle that you see once every ten years and has no idea what he's up to the rest of the time" coded lmao
10) Lucas and Max (+ Billy(ew))
I'm still mad at Billy for breaking Max's skateboard by the way this guy's a grade A asshole.
Anyway, I like how Lucas immediately went to bring Max with him, it's pretty cute. Tho, it's definitely the raison for many other problems after that so, maybe not his best idea. :(
Love that Max is hiding Lucas from Billy, she knows his racist ass would beat the shit out of him.
11) Will and the others
("That' my friend. Mike." MIKE'S TINNY SMILE AAAAAHHHH!!! TOT💕💕)
The fuck is wrong with that guy?? He told you he could feel it, why did you have to actually burn this God damn vine thing??? What is wrong with him???? That's literally just torture!! And toward a child!!! I hate them so much.
My poor son. :((
12) Joyce, Hopper, Owens
That was honestly pretty interesting.
13) Dustin and Steve
Honestly Steve's love advices are pretty... Uh. Mid. Honestly. But I guess it works for him because he's hot and popular or something. (Well used to work, but yk)
But I love this line in particular:
Steve: She's only gonna break your heart, and you're way too young for that shit.
He's speaking from experience here. He's talking about Nancy.
You know, he was saying how she's "different than other girls" (probably because he actually fell in love with her a little), and Dustin started saying that Max's different too. And Steve was like: "Wait. You're not falling in love with this girl right?" And when Dustin told him that he isn't, he says "Good. Don't." A d then this ligne that I highlighted earlier. Because Steve is going through a heartbreak, and he doesn't want Dustin to feel like he does.
Which is actually pretty sweet if you think about it! :)
Anyway, the hair advice is also just so sweet, it's adorable how Steve's trying to help Dustin with girls, I love them they're so siblings. TuT💕
14) Hopper and "Eleven"
That whole scene was just so :(((
He's going to have such a bad breakdown when he'll be back :((
15) the scientists
I am calm. I am very calm. I am absolutely not rooting for the death of these assholes. I. Am. Calm. Relaxed. Chilling. Breathing. 🙂
16) Joyce, Bob (+Will)
We love a (trying to be) supportive boyfriend..! Yay. :')
(Honestly Noah did such an amazing job in this whole season, the way Will is just blankly starting at the celling without blinking is so unsettling and impressive)
17) Will and Mike
WE LOVE AN (ACTUALLY) SUPPORTIVE BOYFRIEND!! YAY!!! >:'D
But seriously, you can see the difference between how Bob and Mike handle this whole situation so clearly it's crazy.
Bob is trying to comfort Joyce by giving her a possibility to be "normal" once all this is done, which is clearly not helping much and is also involuntarily dismissive of her fears.
Meanwhile, Mike is helping Will by trying to understand what he's experiencing, and he is never dismissing him. He uses the terms that Will put on what he sees. And, especially, he is not scared of him. He's treating him like he normally would, just with a bit more worry in his eyes and caution is his mouvements, but that's it. And that's exactly what Will needs. I love them so much.
18) Dustin and Lucas (+ Steve and Max)
(Dustin and Steve are so siblings kskdjqldkbdb I love them sm)
Love that they talk about stuff and how Lucas extend his hand first because he "drew first blood". It's sweet. :)
19) Jonathan and Nancy
Our favorite detective/journalists couple are on the way!!
20) Will (+others)
(the way Mike is almost always the closest person to Will jdkdodksj ToT💕)
You know, I kinda like Dr Owens. He's the most decent out of all these assholes scientists.
21.1) Scientists
Random scientist: Alright, let's see if this kid's a wizard of a schizo.
This line has no right to be this damn funny. >:(
21.2) the vehicle graveyard (or smt)
Whoa, they're doing all that so fucking fast :0
It's pretty cool!!
22) Steve, Dustin, Max
Rip Dustin's crush, it was fun while it lasted 🫡
23) Lumax
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGJHHLJDTLUTDDRULLXUULHFLUTDOYRSOGYOGOYGIYLUXTIDYFDIYDYI MY CHILDREN I LOVE THEM SO FUCKING MUCH THEY'RE SO ADORABLE I'M DYING AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!! ༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽💕💕💕
Anyway, sorry. But seriously, lumax is my second favorite couple/ship of ST and I love them so much. This scene is definitely on of my favorites!! :)
Also,
Lucas: I like talking with you, Mad Max.
Max: And I like talking with you, stalker.
RELATIONSHIP BUILDINGS FOR MY BABIES *pterodactyl scream*
(Sorry.)
24) The vehicle graveyard
HOLY SHIT I FORGOT HOW AWESOME THAT SCENE IS!!
Love how Dustin thinks that Steve's awesome, it's cute. :)
And Lumax hold handing! :3
Honestly the actors did an absolutely crazy amazing job here, I can't even imagine the scene without the demodogs, and they had to act without them?? Super impressive.
25.1) The scientists + Hopper
That scene is so cool. Love how Hopper immediately recognize the "graveyard" lol--
25.2) Will, Mike, Joyce (+Bob ig)
The way Mike almost immediately understood what Will was saying is crazy. And then assholes are calling him stupid, istg. *eyes roll*
Anyway, my poor baby Will is GOING THROUGH IT, once again. :((
Also, I've said this before and I'll say it again, but Noah's acting is absolutely amazing here. He gave me literal chills!
And Finn too!! The way you can immediately see the exact moment were the realization hits Mike is absolutely incredible.
Loves these guys.
Annnnnddd, here comes the end of this episode. That was a rollercoaster.

idk if ive sent this to you before, but the talk of characters wealth is making me think of something that's been on my mind for months.
Steve is only rich because he's the rival (at least in relationship) to Jonathan, who is poor.
And it's made the most clear when the Duffers are trying to push the Stancy vs Jancy love triangle.
Season 1, we see his car, his house, his clothes that have obvious designer origin. He's dating Nancy, she's showing interest in Jonathan.
Season 2, we see his car, and again his clothes have obvious designer origin. He's dating Nancy at the start, then she gets with Jonathan.
Season 3 is the outlier, we don't see any signs of his wealth, the only items of his own we see for most of the season are his shoes and his jacket. he talks about only making 3 bucks an hour. we only see him in his own clothes and with his car for a few seconds in the timeskip scene at the end. There is no hint of Stancy. He tells Robin that he's no longer in love with Nancy, and even when Nancy and Jonathan are in a bad place in their relationship, she shows no interest in Steve.
Season 4, we see him driving in his car again at multiple points, in his own clothes with designer origin. It's made clear that Steve being from a rich family is well known from Eddie's speech ("rich parents"). He admits he's still in love with Nancy, and Nancy appears to be interested in Steve again even though she is still dating Jonathan.
So, my theory is he's Schrodinger's rich boy, simultaneously incredibly rich and not, until the Duffers decide if they want him and Nancy to be interested in each other in a particular season.
this is interesting, but i don’t know how much was a purposeful choice.
obviously, totally agree that jonathan and steve are set as opposing figures, and money is a big part of that; with steve as the rich jock, and jonathan as the poor boy on the wrong side of the tracks.
but i don’t know how much of steve’s wealth is directly because of jonathan, as opposed to steve just… fulfilling a common role in media.
i also kind of think as the seasons have gone by one thing that’s changed with steve and jonathan‘s characters is wealth. in s4 steve’s now worked two minimum wage jobs and it’s implied his parents have cut him off. meanwhile, the byers are rising out of poverty. they have a new big house in cali, and jonathan doesn’t even have to work a job to support them now. (though, obviously i doubt they’re anywhere near the level of wealth as the harrington’s)
i think in s4 we’re kind of supposed to be able to view steve and jonathan on more equal footing. maybe in order for nancy to fairly judge between them or something.
i also just kind of think the duffers don’t pay that much attention to steve, which is why his rich boy vibe kind of ebbs and flows lmao. but that’s just me being bitchy.
he’s schrödinger’s rich boy. which allows the duffers to mock and humble him for not having money. but also still point to him and say “look! he was a mean rich jock. better hold that against him for life.”

Stranger things Downton Abbey esque au
None of them are like the Crawley’s. But they did get affected by the titanic. The rich families are the Wheeler’s, Sinclair’s and Harrington’s. The poor families are everybody else. Ships are mileven, Jopper, lumax, jancy and duzie. Got that? Good. Now let’s begin
Nancy was arranged to be married to Ted’s cousins oldest son, Theodore Wheeler. He died on the titanic. So now she’s been arranged to marry Steve Harrington. However she’s far more interested in the families stablehand, Jonathan Byers
Hopper’s the captain of the local constabulary. He rescued Jane after she escaped from a workhouse. She’s now his adopted daughter
Joyce is Nancy’s governess and Mike and Holly’s nanny. She’d already had Jonathan and Will by the time she was hired so they worked around it. And she kept the job even after she and Hopper got married
Dustin’s the son of the Sinclair’s cook Claudia. He spends most of his time not in the kitchen or with the boys being corralled by Lucas and Erica’s put upon nanny in training Robin Buckley.
The boys are still friends. They spend a lot of time reading the Time Machine, Jekyll and Hyde, Oz, war of the worlds and any other book they can get their hands on that Karen and Louise have prohibited Mike and Lucas from reading
Max is the Harrington’s adopted daughter. Her and Steve have an understanding. She can do and go wherever and whatever she wants and he won’t tell Simon and Sophia. As long as she doesn’t tell Simon where his prized tobacco got to.
The Bingham’s run a school for the poorer children in the town. Dustin also likes spending time there. They’re happy to have him around. So long as he doesn’t distract Suzie. Let’s just say that particular mission was a spectacular failure
Lucas caught Max petting Hopper’s police horse. They hit it off right away. And they’ve made a pack to get engaged should Simon and Sophie ever eye up Troy as a potential husband for Max.
Mike immediately took it upon himself to show Jane around the Wheeler estate. He also gave her a necklace and a few rings he knows neither Nancy nor Karen will miss.
Argyle’s the Wheeler family cook. And Jonathan’s only friend apart from Will. He’s not exactly a French level chef. Stroganoff and hollandaise are his specialties. But never fear. Joyce is always around to help if he asks

It's hard to express how much I love the idea of Nancy Wheeler crawling out of (and into?) Jonathan's bedroom window. She's a stealthy, barefoot, teenage love ninja, and this isn't the 'walk of shame'. This is True Love's Scurry.
Also, Nancy sleeps on the 'protector' side of the bed (the door side). I love that, too. I love that Joyce is handling breakfast while Jonathan oversleeps, and I love that the lipstick on her son's cheek & the girl (shhhh!) scurrying around her back porch makes her happy. I love the uptempo song that's playing: "Open The Door" by Gentlemen Afterdark. I just love all of this so, so much.

One review said; 'Other stories feel like they’ve gone limp as there are more important matters and characters to focus on. Jonathan Byers in particular gets this edit, with his role as a big brother to Will becoming a little obsolete now they’re seemingly out of immediate danger. With the writers detaching him from girlfriend Nancy by the family relocation to California, he becomes rudderless. Perhaps a reunion may fix this, but we’re doubtful' so looks like not even any brother moments.
yup--although they didn't show him as a big brother last season either, but i don't know why they're not noticing till now lol.
also i'm sorry but the idea that he becomes "rudderless" away from nancy (i.e. has no self reliance, no sense of self when that was such a big part of him in s1) is just a mess, imo. i'm not really sure how jancy fans also expect them to bring back jancy after that? like you have to have people in a relationship who are actual, individual non-codependent people. you can't just have a reunion and have jonathan be "fixed" bc that would be a v unhealthy view of relationships

Hey y'all,
It's my 7th year on AO3 so I decided before the end of the year to post all of MY favorite fics I've written. If you want to check out the rest of my AO3 please click here. Thank you for all of your support over the years!
XX
T
In no particular order:
1. Ghetto night in shining armor
Ian Gallagher/Mickey Milkovich
Posted 6/22/14
My comments now: this is so precious, like Mickey revealing his sexuality and being such a bad ass. People loved this series too much. This is such a fluffy hc that runs into slow burn and that’s why it’s a fave.
2. All that is gold does not glitter
Ian Gallagher/Mickey Milkovich
Published: 6/14/2014
My comments now: Truly this is the first fic I wrote where someone commented they cried. Then my fiancé was like “I know you too well to be reading this”. There are too many amazing one liners and a perfect portrayal of depression and bipolar disorder, coming from someone who has both of these.
3. I can do bad all by myself
Ian Gallagher/Mickey Milkovich
Published: 12/26/14
My comments now: truly a perfect portrayal of Mickey having legitimate depression with a self harm problem, and Ian trying to be there for him fully.
4. She Keeps My Heart from Getting Older
Stiles Stilinski/Derek Hale
Published: 10/25/2015
My comments now: This is truly precious. I love kid fics and Derek just wants to be a poppa so bad. I also think this is when I first started developing my own headcanons for Laura.
5. Stylin Pallette by Becca Cosmetics
Stiles Stilinski/Derek Hale
5/4/2016
My comments now: Truly I would still come back to this series. Everything about this is A+ and iconic. Derek with biracial black daughters? Yes! Makeup artist Stiles? Yes! Derek being flustered by a celebrity? Yes! Giving youtubers credit and allowing little black girls to live their best lives? Yes! The girls wearing bonnets to hotel breakfast… iconic.
6. Merry Christmas Derek
Stiles Stilinski/Derek Hale
11/16/2016
My comments now: The amount of comments people leave saying this made them cry makes me happy in a horrible type of way. Truly Derek has always needed to get his shit together, and good for Stiles for standing up for himself. This is so sad and as much as I want to baby Derek, I wanna slap the shit out of him. Mwah! I love a holiday fic.
7. Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better
Jonathan Byers/Nancy Wheeler
2/12/2018
My comments now: This was my fic for Jancy week and truly it got out of control. I am so gay for NATALIA!!! Anyway, this is some of the best smut I feel like I’ve written. Being sex positive is really important to me and I feel like Nancy encompasses that by also being a sexy badass who wants to show her appreciation to a cutie. Jancy isn’t exactly one of my fave ships anymore but Nancy’s confidence and Jonathan’s insecurity work so well together, especially for this fic.
8. You’re The Missing Piece
Steve Harrington/Jonathan Byers/Nancy Wheeler
6/24/2018
My comments now: Stoncy.. a dream truly. Not trying to go back to studying after seeing them having sex I’m screaming!! It’s the underwear being left behind for me. Nancy masturbating multiple times a day every day? Same sis. The car scene.. bro!!! Who wrote this!!! The smut.. too good. Also the fluff at the end.. now that sounds like me lol.
9. No Apologies
Nancy Wheeler/Steve Harrington/Jonathan Byers
4/21/2018
My comments now: Truly probably the most iconic line I’ve ever written: “I am my mother’s daughter.” When she replies to Karen at the end. Before this I don’t think I’d actually talked about my Headcanon that her parents hate her- but this really takes the cake. Nancy really pulled herself out of her shitty situation and found happiness with her two boys. Also: pregnant Nancy? A dream.
10. You Deserve Something Good
Nancy Wheeler/Kali Prasad/Jonathan Byers/Steve Harrington
7/19/2018
My comments now: This was so fun to write and I love angst and darkness tbh. It’s the CRACKED TOOTH FOR ME. (That’s all).
11. Why Have One When Two is Better?
Nancy Wheeler/Steve Harrington/ Jonathan Byers
7/25/2018
My comments now: This is adorable. I love how the kids are so involved and concerned with Stoncy. Writing the kids was super fun, and having them “pick sides” was awesome. I think if they really did get together (or ST showed a healthy normal relationship) the kids would be all up in that shit.
12. White Magnolia
Steve Harrington/Nancy Wheeler
12/21/2018
My comments now: This is the longest fic I’ve ever written, based on a cheesy country song that was my jam. This follows Nancy and Steve through their lives, marriage, kids and otherwise. Everything came naturally and I still have multiple one shots for this verse on my computer. This is so sad I cried while writing it, and did everything I could to ramp up the angst. This is the first fic my (now) fiancé read of mine and that we got to discuss in person. The mommy kink came so natural that I think it ended up perfectly. I would legit die for this fic.
13. Kinktober Day 4- Incest
Jon Snow/Sansa Stark
10/6/2021
My comments now: I had fucking forgot about Jon and Sansa!! (How could I?) when I saw incest I was like fuck YES! The 5+1 format.. hell yes. Accidental nudity? Hell yes. Jon’s jealousy? Absolutely. The dirty talk.. who am I? #A whore. Love!
14. The Parental Journey of Jon and Sansa Snow
Jon Snow/Sansa Stark
11/15/2021
My comments now: Honestly I did not think the first part in this series would get that much traction, so I busted my ass on this one. Immediately I knew I wanted them to adopt a black child, and immediately I wanted them to be like holy shit were white as hell! I think I did a good job combining that with them being amazing parents and caring so much about a child they hadn’t had since birth. Post partum and post adoption depression is real folks.
15. I Can’t Breathe When I’m With You
Steve Harrington/Nancy Wheeler
10/7/2018
My comments now: Kinktober really pushed my limits and this fic specifically really made me question my own kinks. This has it all, dirty talk, humiliation etc. it’s such a Headcanon to see Nancy being physically perfect (makeup and hair done etc) and then see her reduced to a physical mess, even before we talk about sub space with her. I love daddy kink and also think calling Nancy derogatory names would cause her to get turned on beyond belief. Also the part 2 one shot is adorable. This was clearly written before I was engaged, when I really wanted to be proposed to lol.

Coincidences? (Or foreshadowing of romantic endings?)
color me delusion over “ pointing out meaningless coincidences” but I still can’t get over the tv references most likely hinting about certain couples not being endgame.
Sorry, i just don’t think it’s a coincidence that El in s2 watches ‘all my children’ where she mimics Erica Kane who (in the ep she is watching) rushes into a relationship/elopement with a writer named Mike Roy, after a traumatic experience ( and the 2 end up not being endgame ). And the relationship gets messy and involves stalking .
Then in s3, Joyce watches Cheers (”rescue me”), and Jopper is compared to Dianne and fraiser. Diane says as joyce is listening to the tv “He had a couple of sips of Chianti tonight and asked me to marry him.” . At dinner Hopper orders a chianti while being stood up by Joyce. And Dianne and Frasier don’t marry and are also not endgame, cause Dianne stands him up at the alter. The other ep of cheers she watches in s3 (was in the Bob/joyce flashback) , and was called “ the rebound part 2″ in reference to Fraiser (aka Hopper) being the rebound. He’s just a rebound to Bob-why she’s thinking of Bob after Hopper asked her out.
Then Hopper in s3 also watches a magnum pi rerun from 1980- the 2 ep pilot is called “don’t eat the snow in Hawaii”. Magnum ( solving crime with his colorful Hawaiian shirts, similar to Hopper) kisses Alice who he has a history with. Alice promises to come back so they can be together (like Joyce with Enzo’s)-but it’s a lie and she never shows up again in the series and they aren’t endgame either . Also, when Joyce in ep 8 accepts the date- Hopper says he can’t do so at a certain time because he and El watch Miami Vice. The main cop in that also has a will-they wont they relationship (for several seasons with a female detective who was also a main character (like Joyce- aka ‘detective Byers). AND THEY ALSO WERE NOT ENDGAME. ”Gina had an on-again, off-again relationship with Crockett, who was on the rebound after divorcing his wife, Caroline. The relationship faded out as Gina realized they mainly got together when one or both needed someone. Crockett was very protective of Gina, and had some jealousy when Gina was involved in relationships with other people …but was the first one to be there for her when things went wrong.”
-Also, In s2 Hopper angrily turns off cheers (Ep : ‘Sam turns the other cheek’). Causing jopper to (maybe?) also be compared to Sam and Diane from cheers too. Who have a long ‘will they won’t they’ relationship for more than 5 seasons (and used to date). And are also not endgame. The ep that plays in s3 that Joyce watches - has Diane say that Sam abuses her and mentions how they constantly argue (just like s3) but she says she can’t stay away because she loves him. A guy hearing this says “if you ever get tired of him and want a normal quiet life, think of me.” And this is also at the same time she’s reminiscing about being with such a guy- Bob (while watching the show). It pretty much reflects what Murray said about jopper. Hopper reminds her of a “bad relationship”(Lonnie)- but she can’t help wanting to hook up with Hopper. Despite “wanting to settle down with a nice guy (like bob).” Sam even was an alcoholic ex baseball player (Like Lonnie forcing Will to play/having beer cans everywhere) and Dianne having mental health issues (like Joyce).
Glen and Les Charles (just like the Duffers were brothers who created a show -cheers) . Their explanation about why Dianne and Sam didn’t end up together despite all the seasons of ‘will they won’t they ‘ echos jopper’s dynamic to a T . And I believe the Duffers are emulating Sam/Dianne and these fellow bro-writers.“Sam & Diane were so different. Their relationship (for comic and dramatic purposes) was fraught with conflict. Most of our time was spent devising new, funny, and fresh complications for them. Projecting forward, I believe they would driven each other insane had they gone off hand-in-hand – each with the best intentions, but ending with restraining orders. “
Pretty much. the moral of sam & diane’s story according to the Charles brothers was ‘there may be someone in your life you long for but deep down in your heart of hearts you know they’re wrong for you.’ And i think the duffers are using this inspiration from a fellow brother writing team (from the 80s) in regards to Jopper.
Then in regards to Lumax. Max and Lucas wear shirts referencing the couple from that 70s show. Max -is donna the feminist, tomboy, red-head, who doesn’t take sh*t. What’s interesting is lucas wears one of eric’s shirts from when they’re broken up and he’s fliritng with other girls- and earlier in the season Max called Lucas ‘Don juan’ (a name for a player- so it’s probably foreshadowing for s4.)
Max is also paralleled to 2 film characters Lucas doesn’t like- Michael meyers & Winston. Lucas: “ I specifically didn’t agree to Winston…nobody wants to be Winston, man.” Mike: “what’s wrong with Winston?”Lucas: He joined the team super late.Mike: yeah , but he’s still cool.Max being cool and joining the party late probably means she’s supposed to be Winston, right? it’s like how Lucas and dustin in s1 dissed el and said she was like Michael Myers. Cue max in her Michael Myers mask
- Also, the tv parallel of El (in s2) mimicking Erica Kane and pretending to be with a fictional Mike Roy. Also parallels Karen/ Billy. In s2, before she meets him she’s reading a romance book that has a guy that resembles Billy on the cover. The Duffers even mentioned they changed the cover to show the resemblance between Billy and the fictional book character. And we see Karen reading the sequel in s3 before Billy appears. Both El and Karen don’t/didn’t love Mike or Billy- they just projected onto them fictional characters they were infatuated with.Max also is said to do something similar- as the costume designers have Lucas dress up like “Max’s crush”- the karate kid (to impress her) and “be like him”.
I mean maybe I am “crazy” but this seems more like overt foreshadowing about these pairings not being endgame. I could be wrong but I really do believe the Duffers throw in details to foreshadow and allude to things occurring in the story. In a video (7:41) the Duffers mention how they had El in s2 watch Frankenstein on tv to indicate her emotionally state in the cabin feeling “cut off from the world” and “like a monster”. So I don’t think it’s a stretch-when they’ve already admitted what their character watches on tv pertains to something regarding that specific character . ( So why can’t what a character watches on tv (or read) also foreshadow them not ending up with a particular person?)
Then you have the Stalking elements...
Lumax is paralleled to mileven and jancy which have stalking elements, specifically stalking their future partner (lucas being called a ‘stalker’ for stalking Max, el spying on mike and saying “I make my own rules “ -ignoring his discomfort , Jonathan taking pics of nancy unbeknownst to her- although he apologized ) . And although, not as direct of a parallel as the first 3- Hopper spies on mileven kissing and eavesdrops on Joyce’s move. At the snowball, Lumax and mileven danced to ‘every breath you take’- a song about a bad break up and a stalker ex . The writer of the song also has said many times “it’s NOT a love song.” The duffers obviously knew that. Lumax also danced to it and Lucas was called a ‘stalker’ before they go to the dance floor- to emphasize this point. El also stalked Mike in s2 (all that stuff milevens found romantic- El watching him without him knowing. Mike says he was not ok with it in s3). And in s3 when he said not to do that she just says ‘i make my own rules’.
* lumax also danced to ‘time after time’ which is also a song about a breakup. And, Max in s2 when arguing with Lucas’ says “ you guys act like you want me to be your friend but then you just treat me like garbage” (paralleling mileven when El said mike treated her “like garbage” in s3 , before she dumps Mike.)
You can read about more of these “coincidences” or what I’d like to think are purposeful parallels HERE. Warning there’s a lot of parallels.

I find Jonathan a boring character. Duffers threw him in the background in Season 3(and he had a boring plot in Season 2).But I really really want to see his relationship with Hopper. I think Hop will be a great father figure to him. We have a few scenes with them in Season 1, and it just screams “dad-son”.It’s just my theory, but I think Hop will be the one who organize Jonathan’s trip to NY since he lived there and maybe has a few friends who could help Jonathan(and Nancy?)find a job in NY
You lost me at first Anon, but you recovered there in the second half lol.
I gotta disagree about Jonathan I think he's actually one of the more interesting characters on the show. You're right that he's been sidelined quite a bit in 2&3 (one of my few gripes with the show overall) but I don't think that makes him boring I think the reason why you're bothered by it (and me) is BECAUSE he's not boring. If Jonathan was boring I wouldn't care if he had less screen time.
There's an incredible amount of story and character, from S1 in particular, that kind of fell to the wayside so he could be Nancy's boyfriend. And even though I like Jancy, it's why I am really looking forward to him being separated from her in 4 (at least for a bit) and interacting primarily with Joyce and Will again, and now El.
I completely agree about Hopper, though. I think there is a really rich opportunity to be explored there and I'm hoping the Duffers go for it. Jonathan opens up to Hopper in S1 in a way that he doesn't with people in general. That scene in the morgue is a big one and one of my favorite scenes in the show. It's such a huge contrast to his distrust of Bob in s2 and adult men because of his past with Lonnie.
Hopper taking over the role of "father" from Jonathan, whose been having to play Dad for years now and having Hopper be the one to help Jonathan move on and start his new life in NY would be such a wonderful way to close out their arc.
But honestly the Hopper/Byers endgame is what I'm all in for and as long as there is an ample establishment of all dynamics in some fashion (El/Joyce, El/Will, Hopper/Will/Jonathan, etc) I will be satisfied.
Thanks for the ask!

Currently obsessed with Stranger Things (SPOILERS!!!!)
I didn’t start watching Stranger Things for a long time. I’m not sure why? The rest of my family tried to coax me into watching with them for a while but I refused every time. They told me I would like it because I liked the Five Night’s at Freddy’s franchise. Maybe I didn’t watch it just because my brother liked it and I was sure if he did then I wouldn’t. I walked in on them watching “The Mall Rat” and that episode without the context just confirmed to me that I wouldn’t like it. But then Steven Universe came along (ironically my brother got me into it). I’ve been obsessed with SU since January and wanted everyone I knew to be dragged in too. So my family and I made a deal. I would watch Stranger Things if they watched Steven Universe. And man am I glad we did.
We started season 1 on May 20th and I immediately fell in love with all the characters. But most of all Mike, Eleven, and Dustin in particular. Their friendship dynamic is adorable and the hug in “The Monster” was one of my favorite moments of season 1. Eleven and Mike’s relationship is so so soooooo cute and I was so upset when Eleven disappeared again.
Season 2 was equally impressive. More, really. More intense. More graphic. More dread. More VFX. It was amazing. So unsettling with Will’s possession etc. and El’s sideplot with her mother and ‘sister’ was fairly interesting. I liked the Jancy moments. I don’t remember anything super distinct other than Bob’s death (destroyed me for several days), Will’s ‘exorcism’ of sorts, and Eleven and Mike’s reunion. Super cool.
Season 3 was my favorite so far. So many Mileven moments. The romance drama was a little exhausting but it was necessary for Will to feel tragically ignored. I was crushed when he destroyed castle Byers. One of my favorite things about Season 3 though was the introduction of Robin (who I call Piper sometimes, no idea why) and Erica. They’re so witty and just great additions. The Dustin/Steve/Robin/Erica team was so enjoyable. I loved Murray and Alexei (May he Rest In Peace) as well. Can we just talk about that one scene at the end of “The Sauna Test” where Billy and Heather present their army of The Flayed and they’re all singing “We’ll Meet Again”? I got chills. It was soooo sick. But the best part of this season was the finale, which I watched a few days ago. With every season finale comes a reunion of the A Team. When the adult team, teen team, and kid teams come together you know stuff’s about to get real. Let’s start from the beginning. Jonathan is so great under pressure and his quick thinking to get that thing out of Eleven’s leg was super cool. Everyone standing around Eleven trying to comfort her in her intense pain was... dare I say it... heartwarming? I just enjoyed that scene a lot. Especially the one shot with Dustin holding Eleven’s hand and Mike holding her head up while she’s got the stick in her mouth. Poor thing. She was so brave. Again, I can’t remember anything distinct except for that scene, Dustin singing with his girlfriend (who I thought was fake tbh), Billy’s sacrifice, Hoppers ‘death’, and the parting of ways. The heart wrenching goodbye. This broke me. For no reason other than Mike and Eleven being separated AGAIN. That was the only time I cried in the series (Ok the separation of Jonathan & Nancy and Will & his friends contributed). It was extremely satisfying to see the news finally expose everything that had gone on in the last few years for everyone to see. All the unnecessary deaths. All the torment for the families involved. And then there was Hopper’s letter to El. Oh my word I was bawling. Their father-daughter relationship was so nice to see and him spilling out his feelings and advice to her in that letter had me sobbing. I cannot WAIT until season four.
In conclusion, I am so glad I agreed to be dragged into Stranger Things, even if I was a little late.
WAIT HOPPER’S ALIVE-
#stranger things#sorry for the rant??#i love mike and eleven so much#they are babeys#i need season 4 now!!#im obsessed#kinda off topic i know#forgive me

My problems with S3
Salty rant in no particular order below the cut
What the HELL happened to the Byers? They went from being the emotional heart of the show to literally having one brief scene together in ep1 and then Will and Joyce had a hug by the end of ep8, which btw Jonathan DIDN’T EVEN JOIN IN ON??? He was literally in the background in that scene, are you trying to tell me my boy Jonathan Byers would not come out to hug his family after all that shit they just went through???? Jonathan and Will spent like what, four episodes standing next to each other and they barely even exchanged a single line?? Not a comforting touch, a hug, anything??
The Byers’ financial situation and how that could’ve given them some interaction, weight to Joyce’s desire to move and also the Byers talking about that AT ALL was lying right there for the taking. Joyce and Jonathan both had obvious concerns about losing their jobs
Joyce got to spend time doing something else than worrying about Will this season which was nice (instead running after manchild Hopper, great), but where are the repercussions of that? With the growing up theme I was hoping for Joyce to start to look into herself, about letting go and who she is when she’s not a mom
Jonathan was once again reduced to being Nancy’s sidekick, spending most of his time following her around and standing next to her while she drove the plot forward with a vengeance. He spent most of his time in the beginning being an abrasive grump and his pov was barely there with the lack of Byers fam content, which made his argument seem as weak as it did in s2. His scenes with Nancy hit the ground running, were rushed and few and far between. As soon as Jonathan was not by Nancy’s side he disappeared entirely from the plot until she called on him again. He didn’t have one single scene without her
Nancy Wheeler would never, ever stoop so low as to mock Jonathan for a) his socioeconomic position and b) his trauma with his dad. A super ooc low blow. Nancy can obviously be ignorant about how economical strife affects others, but actively mocking him??? This is not the Nancy that approached Jonathan “the freak” in s1 and expressed her concerns despite the entire school side-eyeing her. At least Jonathan got to sass back at her later
Where was Nancy’s backstory that was hinted at before the season? Was hoping for her to get some development OUTSIDE of her rallying to save the world 24/7
Will starts out the season having a semblance of an interesting, very relatable arc (abandonment issues, afraid of growing up, done with The Straights) that then goes nowhere in lieu of The Plot and Will just... doesn’t have a lot of beef with the MF. This thing and the other monsters of the UD fucked him for life, let him have something badass to do like I dunno, give him powers you cowards, let him fight the MF you cowards
Also let Will talk to his family about his issues, or have it be a point that Jonathan is now busy with Nancy and how he misses him. Jonathan being somewhat conflicted about spending all this time outside his family and the potential guilt and effect that has on him. Will destroyed Castle Byers that he and Jonathan built together, where the hell were my brotherly feels???
There was a lot of talk about “new pairings” with the characters, but everything felt very same-y. Jopper goes off on their own, jancy does the same thing, El and Mike have a ton of screentime devoted to just them, Steve and Dustin amped up their bromance to eleven, etc. Even when characters that usually aren’t grouped together were in the same scenes, they barely got anything to say or do (Lucas being said to “become closer with Jancy” was a flat out lie or referred to literally physically standing next to them). Where was Nancy and Joyce solidarity, El and Will siblings, Mike and Nancy bonding over their family falling apart, Jonathan and literally anyone but Nancy?
Villain focus completely shifted from the US government to the spoopy, evil Russians with their spoopy language. Stereotypical, tacky and bland af. Being American is Great and in no way problematic! Go patriotism/capitalism!
The abundance of action and cgi. Omg all of the action sequences. It felt like 70% of the season was spent on El throwing shit around with her powers and Hopper fighting Russian dudes. I remember being halfway through the season and thinking they really should’ve slowed down the plot. But that’s an issue with too little time for too many characters. I had no time to bond with any of the characters I liked since the plots were So Big and So Many that they ate up every opportunity for emotional intimacy and reflection. We had time for a goddamn ad for coke but not for the Byers to interact like once???
Also the whole infection/MF working in the shadows thing? Completely wasted potential. It was set up to induce paranoia in the characters and the MF tricking, playing with and torturing them, people not knowing who to trust which could’ve lead to some really compelling scenes. Nope, it’s just a big meaty version of the MF and now it’s running around town trying to fuck El up while nobody conveniently notices and tons of people died but who cares
Robin was shoehorned into the plot and magically had all the skills it took to figure out the code, could decipher Russian with no previous knowledge (the languages she listed as knowing are not at all related to Russian and why tf does she know so many languages??). At least she slapped Stobin in the face and gave us some actual LGBT rep since the doofuses are hellbent on beating around the bush with Will infinitely
Erica was 100% SASS and nothing else. It got old really quick
The entire plotline with Steve/Dustin/Erica/Robin took up about 60% of screentime with memes and sassy jokes and provided about 5% of relevance in the grand scheme of the plot. Everything they found out in the Russian facility could’ve been relayed by the Russian guy Jopper kidnapped
Which btw, why did a random Russian dude take up that much screentime? He had way more emotional development than 80% of the core cast. Also did we need that much Murray?
Speaking of, I did not need Murray doing his creepy, invasive psycho analysis thing on Jopper like he did Jancy last season. It was terrible and lazy writing then and it’s terrible and lazy now
Steve complaining about popularity “not being that great really” made me want to punch him in the face even more than usual. Nobody gives two shits about a rich white boy who got everything he pointed at, all the popularity and more girls than he could count at school while stomping on the outcasts
Also didn’t need that jab at Nancy in his heartfelt scene with Robin (which was funny bc Robin has a lot of similar traits to Nancy)
Karen and Billy was gross, but at least Karen stopped herself to go back to her unfulfilling but legally sound marriage. No need to rock that boat unnecessarily! A completely mediocre man is just fine for her I guess. At least she got a kickass scene with Nancy
Why in the fucking world did Billy get as much screentime as he did. Why on earth did this asshat, racist abuser get some bs sob story about his awful childhood when we have 47 other, way more sympathetic and interesting characters that could’ve been explored instead. And then he did some stupid “grand heroic sacrifice”. I cried more when the Russian dude died
Max was a victim of Billy’s abuse for years which was completely undermined by her ooc constant concern for him and overblown grief at his death
El being oh so concerned about Billy when she knew he was the asshole who had abused his friends Max and Lucas (and beat up Steve) before felt really insincere
Hopper was a huge, loud, violent jerk this season and I’m not having it. I felt sorry for Joyce having to put up with him and then he presumably died heroically (??? he’s obviously still alive guys) and I...didn’t really care? Was kind of on the Jopper train but have no hopes for it now. Where was their supposed “history” together that was hinted at before the season? It just felt like Hopper constantly acting like a huge, controlling manchild and Joyce having to pep/comfort/discipline him. No sense of back and forth support
What the fuck was that music number with Dustin and Suzie?? Omg cringe. I could feel how the characters all died inside
On the subject of music, they stole Jancy’s theme song and gave it to Steve and Robin and then Mileven. Mileven also stole Jancy’s “I love you”, which was clearly hinted from the name of the song on the soundtrack titled “The first I love you”, which is literally a rehash of their theme “The first lie” in s2. A huge slap in the face to end the season with
#st3 spoilers#stranger things#stranger things 3#I am a salty bitch rn :))))))#this is only my initial problems#I'm sure I'll think of more

Jancy + 8, if you’re still doing those prompts :)
thank you for your patience with this! it just took some time to come out (and went past ‘minific’ territory, if we’re being honest.)
8. things you said while you were crying
Mrs. Byers is the first to break the silence when the light fades.
“We should get you cleaned up.” She addresses a spot over her sons’ heads but it’s clear she’s talking about Will. Nancy follows her gaze to the wall but she doesn’t seem to be focused on anything in particular. “I think I saw some towels in the linen closet.”
Jonathan nods and stands, crosses the room to fetch them. Nancy watches him closely; his shoulders are tense and he’s looking through things too.
Nancy stays in her seat, watches the Byers family move like clockwork robots to get Will into the bathroom, hand him a towel, turn on the faucet to draw a bath. Nancy watches Jonathan watch Will and his mother stare at the filling bathtub warily, like a slowly approaching enemy.
His hands clench rhythmically at his sides, closed, open, closed, until he spins on his heel.
“I think—I might—I might have some extra clothes in my trunk.”
He’s still talking to the room at large, and though his eyes sweep over her when he passes her on his way to the door she feels his gaze go through her like glass.
There are clothes in his trunk – their overnight bags, stuffed with nightgowns and t-shirts and bottles of vodka and soda. She can’t remember if she saw anything else in there when they left Murray’s.
Ten seconds pass, fifteen. Mrs. Byers’ voice floats out of the bathroom, late and absent, like she’s just remembered it’s considered decent to reply to a person when they speak to you.
“Thanks, sweetheart.”
The bathroom door shuts then, not waiting for a response if Jonathan was even there to give one. No problem, Mom, she responds for him, his voice clear in her head. No problem at all.
She should help, she thinks. Strip the bed, maybe, or go looking for a stash of clothes. The cabin looks lived-in, there’s probably some old clothes stored somewhere.
Or, she could check on Jonathan. He seems like he needs checking on.
It’s the thousand yard stare, she decides. They’re all shellshocked after what they’ve just seen, what they’ve just done, but he looks like the zombie soldiers from history class, stumbling out of the battlefield trenches, across desiccated meadows, with their gazes somewhere beyond this world. And they’ve both seen enough reality bending for a lifetime.
She’s not even aware she’s outside until the leaves crunch under her shoes.
Jonathan’s beat up car is still parked out front, just beyond the trip wire Mrs. Byers accidentally set off in the short walk to the cabin. She’d cursed Hopper to hell and back in that five feet while Jonathan just clutched Will tighter to him.
His driver’s side door is open and so is the trunk, just enough light spilling out for Nancy to make out Jonathan’s silhouette through the window.
She catches the sound of a deep exhale just before she rounds the door.
He’s sitting sideways on the bench seat, elbows on his knees and head in his hands. She has her suspicions but it’s only when he looks up that she can see he’s crying.
He doesn’t cry like she does, or Barb, or Mike, or anyone else she can think of. His shoulders rise and falls smoothly, stuttering only occasionally and when they do he doesn’t make a sound. Tears cascade down his face, his expression blank and abject all at once, almost absently, like the emotions and guilt have grown too big for the space inside him and he’s leaking.
“Jonathan,” she says softly, reaching out to brush tears from his cheeks, and he flinches back. His eyes meet hers and for another moment he’s looking through her, beyond her. Then his pupils dilate and his gaze snaps into focus and he’s present in front of her once more.
“I’m fine.” He shakes himself - not just his head but his shoulders, his entire torso - and catches her hand to stop her while he uses the other to wipe wetness away himself.
“I don’t think you are,” she ventures. That brings hardness into his eyes, a defensive twist to his mouth and she grabs his hand. “I don’t think any of us are, really.”
The hardness melts away and he chuckles – hollow but a laugh nonetheless. The chuckle turns into a hitch, which turns into a catch, which turns into a stutter and then a muffled sob. She tightens her hand around his and when he tugs she goes.
There’s nowhere to sit next to him so she settles carefully on his lap, using the hand he’s not holding to encourage him to rest his head on her shoulder. He buries his face in the crook of her neck instead. She rests a cheek on the top of his head and closes her eyes.
His fingers dig into her shoulders and hand, like they did in the cabin, but instead of keening he simply breathes against her until some of the tension leaves him and he has himself more under control.
“Nance,” he says, voice hoarse and tender. His face shifts against her, repositioning so his lips are brushing her collarbone, his eyelashes are feather soft and damp on her throat, and she tries to hold back a shiver. “Can I— I just wanted to say—“
“It’s okay,” she answers automatically, not sure what she means. He doesn’t have to speak, perhaps, or he doesn’t owe her an explanation. She saw the same things he did. She doesn’t know if she would have survived it, if it had been Mike.
“No, not—I’m just, I’m glad you came. I’m glad you’re here.”
That’s how, she realizes. If it were Mike. When it was Barb and a monster with gray skin and a mouth like a carnivorous flower. When it was dull steel against her skin and then blood hotter than she ever knew it could be. And in a stifling room full of screams and sobs, his hand in hers. That’s how she would have survived it. That’s how she will, the next time it comes.
“I’m glad you’re here,” he repeats, clutching her tighter. “I’m just glad you’re here.”
She clings to him in return, winding herself around him to form a knot she hopes no one could ever undo.
“Me too.”
