Just realized how fucked up it is that Eliza puts blood on her face to find Silas because that can only be HIS blood. Which means she bleeds her own boy, just like the hackett’s bleed their infected. Something something exploitation from the ones that “love” you to protect themselves. Ma making Travis be a crooked cop to “keep the family safe”. The entire family putting all the stress on Chris to keep this camp running in dangerous circumstances, because I’m sure he worried about someone getting out and attacking children because they did attack civilians at points. Caleb and Kaylee forced to work at their family business as children despite at the least Kaylee wanting to run away. Hmm. Hmm.

Travis’s childhood headcanons

nobody asked, but…it’s been a while since I done one of these:

• probably has never been given an affectionate nickname in his life. He’s only ever been called T by Chris and a select few.

• Have a theory he was not a planned child. Likely why Jed and Connie got married actually.

•Probably a kid who was sickly a lot. Constance often being left alone to care for him and growing to resent him as a result. Because Jed would be a very hands off father I imagine.

•speaking of Jed; Travis’s lack of emotional intelligence is probably because of him. Jed would have taught him that being a man means being a rock. The old fashion standard of not showing emotional cracks during the hard times; ‘because others will look to you to be strong for them, boy.’

^Imagine being told this at like 10, after losing a family pet or something. I think that’s the kind of thing that would have happened

•sometimes the only acceptable display of emotion to Jed was rage . Rage can be manly and can channel productivity to him when used carefully. Oh but of course Travis would still be reprimanded if he went too far with how he expressed rage. So Travis resorts to suppressing most feelings behind stoicism.

SoOoo seeing as i played the quarry recently…

THIS GAME WAS CRAY CRAYY!!!

alsooo this is my opinion - and is ofc going to be based on my play through which may be different from yours!!

i rlly enjoyed it!!! but… i wayyyy preferred until dawn, (sorry to compare the twooo) it was great - but i felt like the story was all over the place, could’ve just been me not finding every clue, which i didn’t miss too many i think i missed like 2 hackett family clues, 2/3 camp clues, like 3 freak show clues. oops!! personally i felt like there was so much going on at once, i found the whole freak show thing to be super unexplained and rushed?? the tarot cards felt kind of out of place, but saying that, i loved that they were included - thought it was a super unique and fun touch that did kind of pull in the whole freak show/ fortune teller vibe. i think they could’ve made that a bit more prevalent tho, as it was sort of a side note and i understand that it was like something none of the characters knew abt, but i found it so odd that it wasn’t discussed like at all?! or even just discussed more later, towards the end after finding more of the clues so that they were learning along the way with us!! the end was so rushed in my opinion like travis had been hunting silas for 6 years and never found him, but with laura and ryan they just stumbled across him?! and put all the clues together like that?! so weird to me. also the hag of hacketts quarry loved her - but it just was like so weird - you have werewolves and a silas’s ghost mum hanging abt. she was a good inclusion - as it ties in to the tarot cut scenes, but idk just felt a bit unnecessary - as in my opinion it doesn’t further the plot too much and she’s just there for more jump scares.

and it felt like more of a film than a game yk?? also it was kinda janky looking like their necks moved freakishly lol

anywhooo loved the whole gang and i managed to keep everyone -playable- alive YIPPEE!! BUTTTT what rlly annoyed me was that even tho i got alllll the evidence the gang was arrested, yeah they were let out but wtff?!

tbh i’m gonna try and play again and get all the clues!! if you have any opinions that differ pls share id love to hear <3

dylan, kaitlyn, and ryan vs actual cannibalistic hillbillies

OK so in the universe where Dylan, Kaitlyn, & Ryan are left alone at camp (the others got a ride out in Mr. H's pickup, I guess?) there'd be no party. They're hanging out in the lodge.

Assuming that the cannibalistic hillbillies are not Hacketts:

Dylan, Kaitlyn, & Ryan win. No contest. Ryan knows the camp and where Mr. H keeps his gun, Kaitlyn will have the gun, and there is absolutely no way in hell that Dylan wouldn't outsmart them.

Assuming that the cannibalistic hillbillies are the Hacketts:

That... would be trickier. Dylan is still definitely smarter than them, and Kaitlyn is definitely still a better shot, but Ryan's advantage of knowing the camp layout and where everything is wouldn't apply.

Kaitlyn probably wouldn't even have the gun- if Mr. H was a cannibalistic hillbilly and left them there on purpose (OH THE ANGST POTENTIAL WHY WOULD HE LEAVE RYAN THERE) he probably wouldn't leave a gun hanging on his wall.

I'd say... 50/50 chance for Kaitlyn & Ryan's survival, 80/20 in Dylan's favor. It is just so hard for me to picture a Hackett beating Dylan in a battle that involves any level of thinking... but he is squishy, so who knows?

Werewolf Lore Book found in The Quarry Game

Okay, where do I start? A few days ago I was playing The Quarry and trying to get screenshots of Travis. However, while in the Hackett House, I saw this book. I was curious if it said anything. Part of me wondered if it was just gibberish since the player can't really see it and it would just be for dressing the set and making the room look full. However, as I squinted I realized it said Curse of the Moonlight. I began to try multiple different methods to read the two pages of text. I couldn't find it in the game files and searching book didn't get me anywhere. However after some clipping and eye strain through using my glasses as a magnifying glass. Maybe this has already been discovered if so that's okay. I still just wanted to point this out. I am unsure which character was reading this. I want to say Chris Hackett since there are cigarettes present and the only other time I've seen them is in Chris' office as he smokes.

The text reads as the following:

Before the creation of the curse more than 23,000 years ago, the people of the old town, recognized the presence of an evil spirit, which successfully escaped from hell, broke all the spells which imprisoned it since the initial establishment of the Earth. Mankind had been struggling to fight and hopelessly defend themselves before the cruelty and the brutal behaviour of the beast. Finally, through all the tears and bloods, prayers and desperation, mankind lost to the creature and vanished. However, becasue of the vital impact and the destructive damage the conflict resulted, the Mother of Nature abandoned it from the ground, kept it in captivity under thousands of earth layers, for million of years.

The curse is supposed to be timeless. But unfortunately, some unconscious individuals summoned the beast with a deadly ancient magics and spells. Following the guide of the devils, they were forced to wake the monster from the deepest place that the humanity may ever know. Hence, every night when the moon shines the brightest, it will rise and hunt for human lives, as many as he can find, as much as he can fulfill the hunger through so many years, just until the sun rises to the fullest. And that became the story, which is then conveyed and spreaded from ears to ears, about this enigmatic forest.

Once upon a time, there was one said every journey is always full of unexpectancies and moreover, inevitable incidences. Stories have been told through centuries and decades, from villages to towns, from the elder to the youth. But not as the generations pass by or as the time fades, the curse has never been once broken. Whenever the reading is started, the moon will shine and the untamed creature will be released from your worst nightmare. Danger is triggered. And death follows.

Now, one is here in this place, reading these ambiguous is and wondering about everything. But he did not even noticed the wind has begun to blow harder and colder. The surroundings are frozen, not because of the weather, but due to one thing which is coming for the thirst of blood. The shelter is no longer a place to settle. It is now a deadly hunting area, dangerous obstacles, damaged constructions and mysterious blood stains.

In every step he takes, the traces will stay to wait for the beast. Like the last footprint he left during the last moment of his life. His scream will not be heard and his prayers will not be granted. He may survive but the terrified soul will last forever. His curiosity was the cause of the unfortunate event. And now he has to pay the bloody price and no savior would come to rescue.

Every moment he has now is priceless and vital. His life and the journey of survival depends on how he uses his last breaths. Which means now is the time that he needs to start to run.

The Quarry Spirit Animals

My muse has latched onto a new writing project, and won't let go. I know I'm in the middle of Dark Reflections, but for right now I'm getting bogged down with midpoint drudgery and working out various odds and ends to avoid plot holes. So, while I'm sculpting that out, I want to give my muse a rest by letting it stretch its legs with something else entirely

I won't be giving any context, but I would like your feedback and opinions on what spirit animals the characters of The Quarry would have. Two characters are already set, and so I won't list them below nor take any feedback or advice on them as they and their animals make up the main plot I already have mostly fleshed out.

Bobby Hackett - Brown bear? (May not have one for reasons I won't explain here)

Constance and Jed Hackett - (Have to be the same species at least)

The first

Going once again back to the Hackett family tree we have the earliest individual on the tree, the original Jedediah who was born around the same time as Mary Milton, this has stuck out to me for a good while and now that I'm doing the work of integrating parts of the quarry into my broader understanding of the supermassiverse I'll explain just a little about how I contextualize this

Now after looking into it I've learned that the Hacketts didn't obtain their land until the 1800s which gives over a century to work with them being somewhere else and due to the time frame, the relative geographical closeness, the fact that this Jedediah also married a woman with a virtue name, I have decided that the Hackett family originates from the puritan settlement of little hope

I look forward to sharing more of this specific crossover au when it's a little more fleshed out but for now here's little Jed(maybe a little older than I would have liked in terms of being depicted at Mary's age but I like it)
