The creek widens suddenly. He’s either lost or they’re going down a different path than they came up from, and either way, Jensen can’t take a step further.

He is going to catch on fire if he does.

Taking all his clothes off is a decision he might come to regret in a bit when it gives Misha the wrong idea when he eventually catches up, but right now, Jensen’s consumed by the damn fire that’s burning under his skin. The stinging stream around his ankles is pleasantly distracting and Jensen hisses as he powers through the cold and walks toward the deep middle of the creek. The water is slow and the bed is unexpectedly soft but not too slippery, and Jensen goes forward, inch by inch with his back to the trail, only vaguely thinking about Misha catching up anytime now. Goosebumps break down all over his body and the calm of the cold finally reaches his head. The world stops spinning. His brain slows down. His thoughts clear up, bit by bit, like the water that’s running through his toes, up to his knees, up to his waist.

Cold. Calm. Easy.

The warmth of the fingers on his back startles him. He knows who it is before turning around, of course, but it’s still a relief to see Misha’s blue eyes reflecting the spotless bright sky. It’s a relief to see his smile, approving and gentle, to watch him stare at Jensen, eyes getting narrow and dark, to lean in so close that Jensen almost closes his eyes to embrace himself for the kiss.

Misha doesn’t kiss him though. Of course not, son of a bitch, he uses Jensen’s vulnerable state to hook a leg around his knees and push, to use all of his body weight to throw Jensen into the water, and it’s too late when Jensen finally realizes what he’s up to as Misha’s lying on top of him under the water.

Coming up for air and going down, Jensen does his best to stay alive while wrestling on a rocky bed of the running river. He tries to keep Misha alive too because Misha’s in with full force, splashing, kicking and shoving Jensen down and damn, it’s so fucking confusing to have Misha’s beautiful body in all its naked glory so close for the first time and have no sexual feelings about it. It’s too cold for that, and yet perfect conditions to hold Misha tight and feel his touch, to laugh at his little cute grown-man belly and have Misha laugh at his, to feel his warmth, and smell his wet body, to immerse in his presence, clear and sobering as the water itself, to just enjoy this miraculous moment together.

To just be happy.

To just be.

He’s out of breath when Misha shoves him down for the last time, when he sits on Jensen’s legs, and folds his arms behind Jensen’s back to keep his body upright and his head out of the water to declare his victory. “I win, bitch.” Jensen is giddy out of his mind when Misha kisses the top of his head before turning to step out of the water.

Jensen leans back and watches him go, water dripping off his beautiful ass.

It’s an image worth having burnt into the back of his eyelids. If it’s the only thing Jensen’s gonna take back home from this trip, it’s absolutely worth it.

For my first of two super fun DCRB24 collabs, I got paired with the amazing sunkenfox <3

When I put in this art prompt that would inevitably lead to both Destiel and JenMish content, I was a bit worried that no one would want to write it - especially because my Reverse Bang ideas are usually very specific. Sunkenfox took on the challenge and exceeded all my expectations though! Whenever I had suggestions or asked for little tweaks, they didn't hesitate to work them in somehow and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. It has (non-explicit but very in love) Cockles, Queen Danneel on board, our boys finally finding their way to each other, and maybe a few fandom shenanigans too ;)

Thank you so much for claiming my art, Jen, you've been a fantastic collab partner! <3 And thanks to our wonderful mods as well, you rock!!

“Wait—” Victor says, but Yuuri has already ducked away. “Yuri!” he hears Victor call from behind him.

Yuuri doesn’t stop. He’s made that mistake before – why would Victor Nikiforov know who Yuuri is this year any more than he did last year? Yuri Plisetsky is debuting as a senior, after all, and might be here at the Cup of China to support his rinkmates.

It may be the sound of Yuuri’s name on Victor’s lips, but there is no way Victor is calling for him.

(Canon-divergence. The Nishigori triplets never upload Yuuri's rendition of Stammi Vicino online. Yuuri buys himself time to decide whether he wants to stay on the ice or retire by joining Minami Kenjirou's team as an assistant coach.

Victor never hears from the beautiful Japanese skater after Sochi. He choreographs On Love: Eros because he can’t quite let go, but it’s getting harder to push himself on the ice and the cracks are starting to show.

Two lost individuals take a different route to find love and life, but they eventually get there all the same.

“… Are you going to watch it?”

Yuuri shouldn’t. He knows it’ll feel awful to watch everyone he knows trying their best at something he loves when he can’t anymore. But it’s Phichit’s first year in the Grand Prix, and Victor’s competing, so…

“Of course,” he says, and is proud of how steady his voice comes out. He doesn’t know if it’s a lie or not.

(Or: in which Yuuri's Stammi Vicino skate never gets posted and he retires, Victor keeps himself skating for better or for worse, Yuri struggles with his debut, and missed opportunities have a way of righting themselves.)

as a fellow ryliver enthusiast, do you also read fics about them? I'm kinda hoping for one about "sharing a villa"

I read one the other day.

But unlike the JenMish fandom, there are not much Ryliver ffs available.

I'd genuinely like to read a full fledged one with pining & slow burn & all of those things that keeps me on my toes with multiple chapters instead of purely explicit tho (which was the genre of the one I came across). Not saying I don't like THAT. But I like it better when it is build up.

it's kind of weird I don't think I've watched supernatural for maybe two years, and I probably won't rewatch for a while because it took me maybe a year for me to watch it (fun fact, I did my rewatch (s1-10) the month that the show ended, and I watched s11 to 15 for the first time ever) yet I still read and write fanfic, and engage with fandom stuff, but like I wonder if the Cas and Dean that live in my head are different from Cas and Dean in the show too? Because sure I'm taking inspiration when writing fics from the show and how jenmish have portrayed destiel, but at the same time, there might be character divergences? It's kind of like yes there's the show's deancas but then there's our deancas.

I think there’s always a difference between the canon characters and their fanon characterisations, generally and among factions of fans both. But especially for a long running show like supernatural with so many showrunners and episode writers, not even canon dean and cas are consistently written. “He wouldn’t fucking do that” is a sentiment people feel for example about much of dean’s in show treatment of jack. So yeah the cas and dean that live in your head are different, too. Your view of dean and cas when writing them is influenced by so many things (canon events, other fics, meta posts, headcanons, fanon, …) but there isn’t one definitive way to write them correctly or anything. I don’t know if you consider it a problem but keep doing you!
