Ultimate Night Vale Weather Poll
A bit more than a month ago, I made a poll about everyone’s favourite classic Night Vale weather. Now I’m doing a major series of polls to determine the Ultimate Night Vale Weather. Each poll will last for one week and there’ll be a new one every day until we’ve got through all the weathers so far.

This week's #StupidAccordionTrick dates back to over a quarter-century ago... from folkie weirdo #DanBern, who wrote a song every day, here's his memorable #Jerusalem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lmdz4YeE0-8

I think I’ve come to a slightly firm understanding of Jerusalem by Dan Bern and it’s very simple;
I think it’s about how Jesus came down to Earth a long time ago and instead of telling everybody who he was immediately, he wanted to see for himself how humankind was doing. But after seeing how many awful things has been going on, he decided to wait until things died down, and he went to see a therapist (Dr. Nausbaum) to help him through it. But after being told to let it all out, he went and told everybody after keeping it a secret. And I think the Chorus,
“so when I tell you that I love you don’t test my love, accept my love don’t test my love, cuz maybe I don’t love you all that much”
Is his approach to love for the human race; in other words he’s saying “I love you all so much, but I cannot make you love me. So if you don’t love me, I’ll save myself the heartache of witnessing your downfall and withhold my love.” It sounds cruel, but it is what you must do to minimize emotional suffering, even as a human.
I think this whole song is about the heartache he felt when he saw the human race, and knowing he couldn’t save them all.
Or he just really likes olives.
And now, the weather.

for the random asks thing—what song(s) do you currently have on repeat?? :o
Thank you for the ask! I have to admit my music taste is everywhere on a good day, but at the very least I've been into some stuff lately that other people would agree is actual music. I love music, and all kinds of it. I simply don't post about it much because I am not in any music-centered fandoms. I'm gonna limit myself to 10 songs at most.
I Think I Love You - The Patridge Family
Money, Money, Money - ABBA
Untitled God Song - Haley Heynderickx
Wool Over Our Eyes - The Stupendium
Nie Dokazuj - Marek Grechuta, Anawa
The Clam Song - Bears with Eagle Arms
Jerusalem - Dan Bern
I DON'T TRUST U ANYMORE - Left at London
Parrot - Stepdad
God Is Calling Me Back Home - King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
If you listen to any of these, I'd say "The Clam Song". Bears With Eagle Arms is INCREDIBLY underrated– last I checked they had <1000 active listeners on Spotify.

I come to greet you as a fellow “Jerusalem” by Dan Bern intellectual. So if I tell you that I love you , don’t test my love. Accept my love. Cause maybe I don’t love you all that much.
DON'T ASK WHAT KIND OF MUSIC I'M GONNA PLAY TONIGHT. JUST STAY A WHILE. HEAR FOR YOURSELF A WHILE

Tag Game Tuesday: Music Edition
Rules: choose 9 songs you’ve been enjoying lately and make a collage out of their cover art. Then, make a list of the songs so people can discover something new!
Tumblr media
Super Trouper -- ABBA : absolute bop, can't get enough of the harmonies, definitely can imagine Lestat singing this for Louis
Wuthering Heights -- Kate Bush : I'm entranced by the melody, it's soooo hard to sing and the unusual breath pattern required really adds to the desperation in the lyrics
Warszawa -- David Bowie : off the stranger side of an experimental album, this piece is mesmerizing in how it meanders and develops so unlike most pop music
Hangman -- Peter, Paul & Mary : the lyrics of this song really get me--it's a very structured call and response ballad and the last iteration is enough to make me weep
All Along the Watchtower -- Bob Dylan : absolutely fascinating lyrics, has been called prophetic, but it's the manic harmonica that really sets this song on edge
The End -- The Doors : nearly 12 minutes of Jim Morrison singing "this is the End, my only friend" and the psychedelic quality seems more and more ban-able from radio (as it was in the late 60s)
Jerusalem -- Dan Bern : prepare for absolute batshit lyrics where the more you listen the more they seem to make sense
Body Terror Song -- AJJ : welcome to my disability anthem while my attempts to get medical care are repeatedly foiled
Tainted Love -- Soft Cell : now Lestat would definitely sing this one and the instrumentals are delicious
Only one of these songs was written after 1999, so I'm in a phase for sure. Thanks so much to @isabellehemlock for tagging me!
Sending requests to: @igratecheeseonbenedictcheekbones @goldenyearofgrief @440-hurts @bisexualmedusa @sinceremercy @nikysavi @whiteorangeflower @dontbesylly @lestatslestits
If anyone actually knows any of these songs let me know pls lol
