I’m most excited to post this here bc tumblrs photo quality looks the best to me…. Here’s a head canon of mine~ (jet has scars that are almost always hidden unless he removes his armor) please excuse the coloring and stuff on this, I don’t think I was fully able to capture a nice ambiance, or a nice “pink aura” …anyway AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH JETKO !!!!!!!!

I love how whenever ATLA recognizes Sokka is smart enough to solve a problem but it’d be too fast they just stick him in some kind of situation. Like he COULD’VE stopped jet from drowning a town so they tied him up and dumped him in a forest. He COULD’VE figured out what that spirits deal was so they lost him in the spirit world for 24 hours.

Ready for a hot NATLA take?

The live-action DID include an adaptation of The Great Divide episode.

Instead of Sokka identifying with the war-like, meat eating, not prim and proper tribe and thinking 'yeah, I identify with them, therefore I'm on their side and will argue they can't be wrong' he identified with Sai, the mechanist where Sokka saw reflected his desire to be more than a 'great warrior' but also to use his mind and ingenuity to help his friends - therefore he didn't want Sai to be wrong.

Instead of Katara identifying with the prim and proper, well prepared, educated and clean tribe and thinking 'yeah, I identify with them, therefore I'm on their side and will argue they can't be wrong', she identified with Jet the freedom fighter where Katara saw reflected her anger, pain and desire to fight back against the fire nation as well as create a community to help people who were harmed be healed - therefore she didn't want Jet to be wrong.

The live-action was able to take the theme and lesson from one of the most maligned episodes of the animated series and reframe it within other plot lines to make it so much more poignant and nuanced, pushing forward a lot more character development than 'Sokka is dirty and lazy, Katara is uptight and prissy'. The live-action took the lesson and actually tied it to Katara and Sokka's core character motivations that will have arcs for them rather than surface-level character traits that never really change.

Anyways, the live action adaptation of Avatar the Last Airbender is really good and y'all should watch it - or rewatch it with an open mind to why they combined/altered the story elements they did. The writers clearly understand this world and the story the OG was trying to tell.

atla crack au where zuko and azula burn the palace down as kids (like 12 and 10, respectively, pre-banishment but post-grandpacide), run away to avoid consequences, and somehow end up "discreetly" living in the abandoned fire nation ship in the south pole ("discreetly" is a word which here means "all the adults know they're there bc they have massive arguments every other day, and when hakoda's nearby he "drops" things that might be useful")

ozai ends up blaming the palace fire on iroh and banishes him. he must capture the children to regain his honor (translator's note: this is adult speak for "get their asses back here so i can ground them for the rest of their lives")

This is like my thousandth attempt at trying to draw a chibi idk if I’m completely happy w it yet but he is still very cute… also pls notice the shine in his hair that says his name…Little Rock lee moment ❤️

As much as I love Jet trying to expose Zuko for being a firebender, it’s so much more funnier to me to think about Jet not giving up on Zuko joining his little ragtag group no matter what, just at the tea shop everyday, coming up with his own theories on Zuko’s scar and why he moved there, testing Zuko’s already thin patience for customers

Fic Idea - Zuko refuses to rest (Jetko)

When Jet gets sick he goes into pill bug mode and hides away from everyone, trying to make sure he doesn't infect anyone else. He yells at Zuko when he tries to sneak into his room for cuddles.

Jet will drink whatever stinky herbal drink that the doctor presents him with. Can't be worse than the concoction Smellerbee made him drink that one time when there was a breakout of possum-chickenpox in the Freedom Fighter camp.

Zuko on the other hand, is a terrible patient. He is easiest to take care of when he's so sick that he cannot object. When something as pathetic as a measly cold hits him he refuses to aknowledge the problem and keeps working.

One time when he was obviously sick, he fell asleep in the middle of a meeting and everyone silently agreed to just sneak out quietly and let the firelord have a nap. He wakes up very confused an hour later to an empty room and a blanket placed over him.

Zuko: I'm fwine *sniffles* Jet, thourougly unimpressed: Put down those documents, or I swear to- Zuko: No I can do this! *sneezes* 🤧 Jet: That's it. If I have to carry you out of here I will! Zuko: Noo! This is dishonorable, you can't do this to me! 😖😖

FINALLY, actual proof. I have found what the difference is between jet propulsion and jet-stepping.

I always wondered why Azula was using actual running movements or in this case stepping movements when she propelled herself at Zuko in The Last Agni-Kai. Well now we can say she was jet-stepping before moving into a sustained usage of jet propulsion.
