at first I thought it was endearing to see the doctor constantly being like "oh do I say things like that now? is this who I am?" because it's an old face but with all the experiences and changes that come with living longer. so unlike ten, fourteen is open about his feelings because there were lingering regrets with not telling people how she felt as thirteen

BUT NOW. not-donna saying you're scared. because of the flux. because the universe destroyed itself just in the chance it could destroy you. and you know now that you're not from gallifrey and that scares you. because the doctor is scared. everything they ever knew is thrown out because on top of everything an old face came back and the doctor can't figure out why

the timeless child and the flux just being MENTIONED brought the doctor to frightened tears and we have never seen anything like that before. the doctor is so so lost and just wants to know who they are. so regenerating into something new but old has thrown them off so much that at every turn he thinks "huh. is this who I am?" and it is so strange to see the doctor unsure about themself, questioning their identity every second. and it is HEARTBREAKING

I'm actually so glad Timeless Child and The Flux were bought up, yada yada David Tennant acting, but also just that reassurance that Jodie's era is still a thing. We had confirmation in The Star Beast, but seeing detailed accounts of events and then emotional responses? 13 lives ❤️

Watching Detective Conan and caught up to the episode where an American teacher is introduced. However, the directors didn’t get a native English speaker (or someone who could imitate any American accent) so it leads to stuff like this:

The episode is FILLED with stuff like this. The American character randomly says English words, but they have a Japanese accent (not complaining about the accent, I just don’t know the point of why she’s just randomly saying English words as she sounds more fluent in Japanese than English 😭).

The fact that she also corrected a Japanese character with an accent who said the word “policeman” CORRECTLY the first time and then tried to tell him that the “right way” to say it is “POOR-IS-MAN” just had me laughing. Poor Megure is being lectured for literally nothing 😭

They really didn’t do any research for this episode. And I’m not saying that just because of the English, I’m saying that because THE PREMISE OF THE CASE OF THIS EPISODE IS THAT A GUY DIED WHILE PLAYING A FIGHTING GAME THAT PHYSICALLY HARMS YOU IF YOU GET HIT! HUH?! HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?!?! 😭

Also, in order to establish that this woman is American, they lean heavy into stereotypes: fair skin, blonde, blue eyes, revealing clothing, adult who enjoys video games (which I think was still taboo for adults in Japan to openly enjoy when this episode aired). But the best thing is, in her introduction outside of the flashback, she (I shit you not) plays a SHOOTING game and GETS A PERFECT SCORE WHILE DOING JUMP SPINS!!!

If you told me while I was listening to Jodie’s arc in Season 1 of Dndads that S2 Jodie Foster is a double divorced bisexual disaster loser king of hell I would literally not believe you.

it’s also baffling to me that tumblr, home of the ‘why are white men Still being cast as the doctor’ for So many years now (For you know, like over a decade.) is somehow not appalled that they hired a white dude to be the next Doctor because look okay it’s okay if it’s This white man. 

I mean, I do not consent to acknowledge that they’ve shoved him in there under any circumstance, but my Only need for the casting of the next person was that it was Not a white man, otherwise i didn’t care who it was, so when they “announced” Gatwa I was satisfied (i am hesitant to say they announced it bc it was more like a tiny footnote than an announcement, oh the disrespect) and it took a whole seven days (it was literally seven days. Yes i counted. it was easy since it was only seven days) it was ‘actually sorry no it’s this white dude we’ve already had before did we forget to mention that???’ and it’s steadily gotten worse and worse. 

That This site of all places is not up in arms about both the situation and how it specifically played out is depressing, but also massively and darkly hilarious.  

Especially since i Also remember nobody on this site thought casting Whittaker was good enough but literally going backward to a previous white man is?? This is not even a metaphor about diversity getting worse, they literally looked backwards. 

But, yeah,  tenn/ant with the ‘what the future looks like’ headline is uh... Good???? Not super worrying and ominous? 

I feel like i’ve been dumped in some weird parallel universe by reactions to all of this on here like??? the whole way this was done was appalling, the situation is appalling, but i guess the bbc/disney should get a rousing round of applause for accurately judging that nobody would care about their poor actions if the specific white guy they cast was popular enough that next to nobody would care. 

( and to the ‘it’s an anniversary ep’ thing, they legit could have just set a couple of eps in the past. i don’t mean they travel to the past. i mean just say ‘hey this ep is set during s4!’ and nobody would care. this show does weirder stuff than this every second episode. and it would still be bad, but how they did it is so much Worse.)

Still impressed at how well David Tennant effectively conveys the 10th and 14th Doctors as different men (but the same man) despite how jam packed the 60th specials are with other shit.

It’s not just that he’s older, you can feel Smith, Capaldi and Whittaker in there.
