Who are all the Hermitcraft admins? For some reason my first thought was Joe Hills being one but I feel like he'd be too afraid of accidentally breaking the server

joe hills HAS been one! the main ones I see doing admin things are xisuma, hypno (especially re: owning the website), tango (often as a backup contact when xisuma and hypno aren’t on), and joe (also as a backup contact). there are others I’m pretty sure HAVE had op at some point—doc had to have had op during big moon since that was his contact’s mod, cub I’m pretty sure has had op, scar has had op, hilariously I think evil x’s account has op, pretty sure ren had op during the charity event—but I think that’s because the hermits generally trust each other to have op if someone needs to have it for a Thing.

Rating each hermit’s likelihood of being a furry

scar keeps getting furry allegations so i thought i’d make this post

Joe Hills - 7/10 he doesn’t really consider himself part of the community but he has a sparkledog sona and dresses up in his homemade diy fursuit sometimes. he respects furries deeply and does not tolerate hate towards them

Xisuma - 8/10 totally a furry he changes his skin all the time to dress up as the latest minecraft mob. he already has a “cringe” oc (evil x). he doesn’t even know what a furry is i think but he probably owns a fursuit anyway because he thinks its neat

Hypno - 3/10 he’d say no but give him cat ears to match with max and he’ll be wearing them every stream from now on

Keralis - 2/10 pretends to not know what a furry is but he does. he does.

Mumbo - 1/10 logically he would know of furries due to his young age and activeness online but i don’t believe he does, he has never heard of a furry and never will

Cleo - 6/10 with enough encouragement she’d wear a fursuit. maybe if joe made one for them. she’s got a vtuber avatar so this is just next in the pipeline i think

Jevin - 3/10 he isn’t one but he does have a non-human character which technically qualifies him as one. instead of a fursuit i think he’d have to coat himself in jelly or something

I could also see Gem and Impulse both using some pronouns like quartz/quartz, and though Gem is an elf and has her whole mountaintop palace I can't help but associate marine pronouns with her like mer/shell/foam. I have no reason aside from vibes

remember this post? well, it was actually written ab these very headcanons, they were the first thing I started to write after joining the hermitship community, I'm sorry if this has more plot than you wanted...

the two of them don't interact much before EX gets banned from Hermitcraft

one day Evil Xisuma just appears on Joe's little island in a puff of purple smoke, startling Joe and claiming he has escaped from imprisonment in the Void

Joe is wary of him but still helps him hide at the Hermitage, the man may be "evil" but that doesn't mean Joe will let him freeze in the Void again, that's just inhumane

Evil Xisuma still acts evil and Joe does actually get mad at him when he dies to EX's trap once, but when he sees how uneasy and tense the man is under his mask (literal and figurative), he decides to just let it go

Evil Xisuma starts following Joe with a potion of invisibility to troll him while he works, but then he hears the man talking and singing to himself and just stays to listen

Joe actually knows he's right behind him and feels happy EX wants to hang out with him, even if he isn't ready to admit it to himself yet

Evil Xisuma learns a lot about compassion and morality from this as it is the first time he chooses to listen to someone as opposed to being yelled at for how evil and bad he is

is he even evil, or is it just nobody gave him a chance, just like in one of Joe's stories..?

Joe gives Evil Xisuma poetry prompts and encourages him to transform his negative emotions and experiences into art, he always rolls his eyes at that but secretly loves writing them, it appeals to his (not so secret) edgy side

Joe always compliments him on the poems and seems to trust him now, and for the first time in his life Evil Xisuma can feel safe, almost understood even

EX actually has really low self esteem and suffers from severe abandonment issues, he acts tough to mask it but Joe's random acts of kindness make him melt inside every time

Joe's just such a good person, he puts his heart and soul into all his projects, and he's so smart, and pretty, and... oh shit is this what that "love" he's read so much about in poems is??? well fu-

Joe is really good at reading people and that, in addition to Evil Xisuma being an awkward outsider with barely any socialization, makes him realize what's going on immediately, but he gives Evil Xisuma space to come to terms with his feelings

one time Joe comes back to the hermitage only to find a feast carefully set up in the big dining hall, and Evil Xisuma taking an angry nap among a few armor stand books ripped to pieces, with fire marks on his gloves

Joe puts a blanket over him and lies down on a nearby bed, and when he wakes up Evil Xisuma isn't there and all the litter is cleaned

after that Evil Xisuma starts to help Joe with small tasks more often, always pretending it's not actually him

the air isn't as polluted at the Hermitage as it is on the main island and Joe manages to convince Evil Xisuma to take off his helmet and smell the flowers sometimes

it makes him notice that EX is really good looking...

they eat dinner together every day and then Evil Xisuma actually initiated snuggling by the fireplace

Joe is scared he'll hurt him by making a move but starts falling for the man more and more

one day they they're in the garden together and they accidentally make eye contact and just start making out

Joe may or may not be so happy he cries when he realises EX wants him too

everything in the dating world is new and confusing to Evil Xisuma but the one thing he's 100% sure of is how much he cherishes his boyfriend

Joe confronts Xisuma and defends EX, arguing that he should be allowed back into Hermitcraft

turns out Xisuma had known ab Evil Xisuma being with Joe this whole time and in fact had put EX on his island himself in hopes of Joe having a good influence on him

that puts a bit of a distrust between Xisuma and Joe, but the latter is relieved EX can stay nevertheless

Evil Xisuma probably still is little shit from time to time, which Joe completely enables, but he's able to live in the Hermitcraft society in peace now

him and Joe spend a lot of time together just having fun and being happy to have the other by their side

the first time Evil Xisuma recites a poem he's written about Joe to him he impulsively scoops him up and smooches him on his helmet

"Joe please, you'll beslubber my visor!"

yea EX probably learns a lot of big words from his boyfriend and then uses to flex them on Xisuma

I’m planning on focusing on the other side of Minecraft YouTube for now and was wondering if you had blog recs for third/last life and hermitcraft?

hey! welcome to the hermitcraft fandom! we're a cool place to hang out i think personally. uh, be warned that i'm often bad at recs because i have the memory of a squirrel, so if there isn't someone on here that isn't because we aren't friends/aren't cool mutuals/i don't like them, it's because i am naming the first people i think of, which is not always people in a sensible order. also i tried to stick to hermitcraft guys more than traffic or empires guys here because i did not realize you said third/last/double life when i first read this ask WHOOPS.

also i saw the other list i was tagged in by @griancraft, i am EXTREMELY flattered, that list is here, and i have tried not to put any names that are repeats from there. i am vouching in general for a lot of the people on there though.

ALSO also before we get into the names: GO FIND YOUR OWN FRIENDS! one of the ways i do this personally is that i just... browse through the hermitcraft tag occasionally and stick a bunch of stuff in my queue and if i see a person crop up a lot i follow them because clearly i like what they're doing! sometimes also when i was a smaller blog if someone showed up in my notes a lot i'd also show up! uh, just in general, find other 'smaller' guys too! i have, as i said, tried to stick to people i thought you weren't already going to be following, but let it be known that i have no sense of scale anymore so i don't know who is considered "big" or not on here the scale may be WILDLY out of proportion. FIND YOUR OWN PEOPLE it's very fun to find people yes yes.

@dmwrites and/or @simplydm (her main) does very cool writing. i am a big fan of all of her ficlets. if you are following me for the writing let me direct you that way to ALSO get a lot of good ficlets.

speaking of other cool writers in the fandom. @mawofthemagnetar writes eldritch horror keralis and a bunch of other fics that are cool. also one of the people on my dash who is an xb understander, you know?

@fluffy-papaya and @betweenlands wrote dog at the door and a bunch of other stuff i like (plus fluffy's art is very cute). also i know solar and solar is cool... albeit. mostly not a hermitcraft blog at this point. but still. deserves to go here, be wary they will get you into a minecrafter you've never heard of. i still need to watch secret rivals. soon,

also on the cool writer list is @sixteenth-days, who writes hermit archives and also a bunch of other cool things!

@redwinterroses is someone i originally followed from more of the traffic side of the fandom but i recommend following her, she's pretty chill.

someone who i like a lot as both an artist AND a writer is @silverskye13. still need to catch up with monsters splitting hairs, love the artstyle, all their hels takes are good.

i like @closet-thing's art a lot. tends to be somewhat horror-focused if that isn't your thing but if you, like me, DO like horror stuff, then you're in for a treat.

i am also a big fan of @jestroer's art. it has a very... i don't know the word for it but the style is very distinct and i like it. fluffy? if that's a bad word for it. i am sorry. i don't know how to describe art. anyway recommend.

The Journeys Between

Season 8 is over, the world destroyed far beyond repair. What did the hermits each do in the time and space between?

This is somewhat of a continuation of my Wels fic, Knight in Spacesuit Armor, though verging away from headcanon territory into full on AU. It also has a much broader focus, so I decided on making it a separate work so the other fic could still stand on it's own. I would recommend reading it first as a prelude to this however.

This story is also a bit experimental with a gimmick I have wanted to give a proper go for years, so chapter length will be on the shorter side generally.

Chapter 1: Tango The crew starts to get settled.

“Ug, I need to get out of this.” Tango complained. He started tugging at one of his boots, but tightly held on. Tango groaned and reluctantly started undoing the numerous straps to loosen it enough to pull off, then did the same for the other boot. He stood up and wiggled his toes in his socks. “Ahhh, that’s better. Feels like taking off ice skates.” Tango started undoing the straps on the torso and legs of his space suit as well.

“You do realize you’re getting soot everywhere.” Wels sighed. He was turned away from Tango, his captain’s chair in front facing position, but their eyes met through the mirror at the top of the windshield.

Tango looked around him. There was a trail of soot coming from the airlock to where he had been sitting, and in a whole area around him on the floor and wall. Including on the llama he had been leaning against for the past half hour. It didn’t seem to mind though. “That’s even more reason to get this. thing. off.” Tango struggled to wiggle out of the space suit. He decided against commenting on the fact it seemed he was dragged into the spaceship on the floor rather than carried, something he hadn’t noticed earlier.

“Belt.” Cub pointed out to him.

“Oh. Right.” Tango undid his belt and the space suit easily came off. He wore a dark red bodysuit underneath. It was all one piece, from the fabric around his head to his toes. Jevin let out a small snirk. “What! What else are you supposed to wear under a spacesuit? Ugh, Wels, got anything I can change in to?” Tango pulled the head of the suit back, letting it fall behind his back like a hood.

“Yeah, drawer left of the supply closet.”

“Thank you.” Tango walked over to the supply closet. The ship was quite small, consisting of only four rooms- the main cabin, where they all were, the small two layer supply closet, the top of which housed a micro farm just big enough to hold a couple plants, a bathroom barely larger than the closet, and the airlock, if that even counted as a room. Numerous cabinets were built into the walls of the cabin. Tango slid open the door of the compartment. “Are you kidding me?!” Tango pulled out a black bodysuit. It was lacking a head piece, as well as having holes for feet rather than built in socks, but it was still remarkably similar to what Tango was already wearing.

“What else do you think I wear under my armor?” Tango could hear the smile in Wels’s voice.

“Arrrrrgggggggg!” He growled, shoving Wels’ clothes back in the drawer and slamming it shut. Grumbling to himself, Tango gathered up the parts of his space suit from the floor. “You all suck.”

“Hey, I had no part in this.” Cub put his hands up in front of him. “It is kinda funny though.” Tango lowered his eyelids. “What? I don’t have any extra clothes on me.”

“Here.” Jevin wriggled out of his hoodie, revealing that he was wearing a white tank top underneath. He threw the hoodie at Tango, it landing over his head and covering his face.

Tango sucked in air through his teeth, holding back a snappy response. “…Thank you. Uh, hands kinda full at the moment.”

“I got ya.” Cub pulled the hoodie off Tango, who scouted out an empty cabinet to shove his soot covered spacesuit in to deal with later. He crammed it in and slid the door shut. Tango stood back, then looked around at the soot covered room once more, then down at himself. His arms and torso were now covered in soot from where it had come off the spacesuit when he was holding it. He tried to brush some of it off his arms, but it just smeared instead.

“I’ll… be right back.” Tango ducked into the bathroom, still trailing soot on the ground behind him.

The bathroom was tiny, only just enough room to stand between the wall and sink. Another step would put Tango standing half inside the shower. He took a small washcloth from a stack of them on the side of the sink and turned on the tap, getting part of it damp, and began to wipe the soot off his bodysuit. Through the thin interior walls of the ship he could hear the others chatting.

Cub has been examining the custom embroidered green J on Jevin’s hoodie. It was quite neat, but looked to be hand stitched. “You make this yourself?” Cub asked.

“Oh, actually uh, Evil X gave that one to me after… well you know.”

“Excuse me who ?” Wels interjected. Cub couldn’t help not laugh at the thought of Evil X hand embroidering a sorry I pushed you into a toxic pit apology gift.

“He’s not all bad you know.”

“He’s got evil in his name, Jev!”

“I’d say he’s reformable.” Cub shrugged. “Find something to put those deception skills to good use… Well, If he survived the moon.” Chapter 2: EvilXisuma A confrontation.

Evil Xisuma kicked open the door. “Xisuma!” He yelled with anger. Evil X was covered in soot and dust, his armor scratched up, visor cracked.

Xisuma, who had been pondering over a complex contraption, was quite surprised to see Evil X. “What are you doing here?” Xisuma moved to a defensive stance.

“You left me to die!”

“What!? What on earth are you talking about, you’re the one who left!”

“You could have warned me!”

“No I couldn’t have? I had absolutely no idea what was going to happen, Evil. Even if I did it’s not like you would have listened to me! You’ve been nothing but trouble since you returned.”

“What do you expect when you banished me to the void again! For no reason either the last time too!”

“You’re a ticking time bomb, Evil X, it was only a matter of time before you tried to destroy everything again and I wasn’t going to let that happen!”

“That’s a lie!” Evil X growled. “I was doing good and you know that! I was trying to become a better person and you still banned me! You don’t care and it clearly wasn’t worth my effort! All that work for nothing! Ugh!”

“You were brainwashing me!”

“So? It was the only way I was going to get you to do what I wanted!”

“Is that your idea of friendship? People doing whatever you want them to?”

“Uh… yes?”

“I don’t know what to say to you, Evil X. I truly don’t.” Xisuma shook his head in disappointment.

“You could start with apologizing.” Evil X crossed his arms.

“Apologize? For what?!”

“We just went over this! Banning me from Season 6! Making me have no choice but to go back to my evil ways!”

“You’re the one who should be apologizing! You have quite a lot of misplaced confidence marching in here demanding an apology from me. Get out of here, Evil X. Or I’ll make you leave.” Xisuma swiped open the Stoneblock world’s admin panel in the space in front of him.

“I don’t have anywhere to go back to X.”

“Well you better find somewhere, because I’m not allowing you to stay here.” Xisuma began to type.

“Fine.” Evil X turned around and stomped out, his fists clenched. He had never admitted to Xisuma that he lacked the ability to create worlds of his own, and wasn’t about to now. He’d find someone else to bother.

Evil X closed his eyes and opened them again to the rubble that was now the world of Season 8. On one side of him was a seemingly endless wasteland of a crater. On the other was the remains of the moon, a cliff soaring straight up into the clouds. He turned away from the moon and started walking. He had no idea where he was on the former continent, the ground all torched the same dark grey, the water in the seas and rivers evaporated from the heat. The sun began to set as he wandered, wondering who he might be able to convince to let him stay with them until the next season started. He sure as hell wasn’t going back to Hels. If it even still existed.

Evil X came across a steep decline downwards. Must be where an ocean used to be. Peering into the empty basin below, there was what looked to be a mangled and burnt, crashed satellite at the bottom. Curious, Evil X decided to slide down the slope to the former ocean floor and take a look around, it was the only structure recognizable as more than just ash he’d seen since he came back.
