Very much wanna talk about any and all modern!aemond headcanons
Modern!Aemond • general headcanons
Hey friend!! sorry for the wait! Being back to teaching is putting a dent on my blorbo-thinking time lol. WE LOVE talking about modern Aemond in this house. These are just general likes of his! If you want headcanons on a specific scenario please do drop that in my inbox!! This Aemond is the same that I've written in all of my modern fics so far. X
Tumblr media
As I’ve established in previous fics, he is a DOG DAD seriously. He loves his babies, Vaghar and Patch (even if Vaghar is an old lady now lol). He’d give his life for his dogs and he’s constantly fussing over them.
Especially Vaghar because the older she gets, the more care she needs. She’s always been a chill dog and very calm, but as she gets older she starts to get anxious if either Aemond or you aren’t home.
Aemond is also very athletic and into sports, and he has a super set routine that nothing will interfere with. He goes out for a run every morning (maybe except for Sundays) and he often takes the dogs with him.
He strikes me as the outdoorsy type – someone that prefers going hiking or running at the beach than going to a gym, and doing bodyweight exercises while out in the woods or the beach. Maybe he'd go to the gym like three times a week. This mostly because he likes being alone and would get overwhelmed at the gym with so many people around him, starring at his eyepatch.
So if he went to the gym I feel like he’d prefer to swim laps in the olympic pool. He strikes me as a very agile swimmer for some reason.
I don’t know squat about sports (no pun intended) so I’m not sure what kind of sports he’d like to do or watch – I’m thinking fencing and soccer.
If you’re into sports feel free to imagine him practicing them with you, however.
I feel like working out is something that he really enjoys doing by himself. Yes he loves you with all his life, but he needs his alone time, which is healthy for the relationship as well.
I’m gonna self indulge here, i’m more of a yoga-doing type of person lol, so maybe you do yoga in the living room while he’s out running, and when he comes back he’s instantly salivating at the sight of you all bent up in your tight leggings.
He’s a respectful king so he wouldn’t interfere with your exercise, but he does have the fantasy of just bending you over, grinding on you from behind and fucking in your sweaty workout clothes, right there on the living room floor.
Maybe he does end up giving in on some days. Which leads to you fucking in the shower afterwards because you're all so sweaty and messy <3
Another thing that I tackled in one of my fics is that he loves analog media.
One of his hobbies is probably analog photography. I feel like he’d be self-taught but would just have the chance of learning if there’s a workshop at a gallery/museum/cultural center. He definitely collects cameras and his favorite to shoot with is black and white film.
And in the subject of analog media, he still collects VHS tapes. I’ve said before that he is a member of the (1) surviving video rental store in his city and he’s there constantly. Maybe if there's a movie he wants to watch but they don't have it in the store, he places a special order and because he's already good friends with the people there, they grant him that wish and import a movie from somewhere else. He of course covers the cost of it, no matter how much it may be.
And he loves movies in general.
He’d be the type to watch directors like Sidney Lumet, Ingmar Bergman, Andrei Tarkovsky, Chantal Akerman, Werner Herzog, Wim Wenders, Akira Kurosawa and  John Cassavettes.
My spanish speaking brain is begging me to add Pedro Almodovar into the mix but I don’t know if it would be his thing. Maybe those are his guilty pleasures.
I can’t unthink him as an Al Pacino fan lol! He watches Frankie and Johnny with you on special occasions like on valentine’s day. He loves 70’s Pacino but I feel like his favorite movie would be ‘Scent of a Woman’ because it hits close to home with Al playing a blind colonel. But I feel like he’d love ‘Heat’ with Robert De Niro and Insomnia with Robin Williams, which was directed by Christopher Nolan.
As for music, I'm basing this on a friend of mine that’s kinda like Aemond, and is an engineer that is now studying film composing. He had such in depth knowledge of classical music and music theory, but was also into rock and metal. I do see Aemond liking oldies like Metallica, Mercyful Fate, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, but then also Muse, Måneskin, Bring me the Horizon, etc, along with a long repertoire of classical music and film scores. Maybe his favorite composer would be Ennio Morricone.
These are the ones I could think of atm but I'm sure there I can come up with more!!

Awww, Harold & Maude! Speaking of adorable ‘70s oddcouples and John Cassavettes, have you seen Minnie and Moskowitz? Or Hal Ashby’s Being There? Peter Sellers. ❤️ Douglas Sirk, ohh. Have you seen Written on the Wind yet? Ps: Robert Stack is -such- a poor little meow meow in it.
Sadly nope, nope, and nope! That was my first Sirk, and I have seen nothing by either Cassavettes or Ashby -- Hot '70s Summer was notable for many things but the main one was probably that I was finally deliberately watching any film at all from the 1970s, a decade I had previous avoided on the grounds of brown.

I’ve never publicly said this but having said it in @junglejim4322 ‘s replies, I hated Faces by John Cassavettes and I LOVED showgirls. that’s just who I am.

If you’re still doing recs-fav movies ft Black characters (any time period/part of diaspora) 🙏🏾
i watch proportionally very little... so take this one with a grain of "it's limited" too
soleil ô (1970), beautiful/enraging classic about french-mauritian colonial relations
six degrees of seperation (1993), based on a play which is based on a true story, gay will smith pretends to be sidney poitier's son and infiltrates a rich family's life a bit (suffers a bit under having him go away for long stretches of time)
kwaku ananse (2013) akosua adoma owusu has made 15 really different shorts, this one i thought was the most interesting
cette maison (2022), very dreamy, experimental feature film about the unsolved death of the teenage cousin of the director's friend
she don't fade (1991), my favourite of cheryl dunye's shorts... obviously the watermelon woman is one of the best films ever made and a favourite but i didn't want to list only the most famous classics
the edge of the city (1957) 50s hollywood movie but the better kind. sidney poitier and john cassavettes look at each other with loving wet eyes, ruby dee is achingly charming as always
small axe: lovers rock (2020) oh the best movie ever, incredible incredible ecstatic west london party evening (there is a scene of attempted sexual assault)
mississipi masala (1991) romance!
stadt der verlorenen seelen (1983), i had this on the german films rec list as well but i'll reiterate: it's good
okay i am running out of time for detailed descriptions. here are some more:
pariah (2011), looking for langston (1989), marlon riggs' shorts particularly affirmations, ngozi onwurah's 90s shorts (the body beautiful, white men are cracking up,...), leadbelly (1976), black dynamite (2009), touki bouki (1973), deep cover (1992), daughters of the dust (1991), belly (1998), bodies bodies bodies (lol 2022), j'ai pas sommeil (1994), and as baldwinfan of course i love if beale street could talk (went to the german premiere and looked at barry jenkins' shiny head)

§ 3.113. Una mujer bajo la influencia (John Cassavettes, 1974)
Tumblr media

Probablemente la gran película de Casavettes como director. Faces (1968) no me gusto demasiado.

Love is like rain. It's predictable, it repeats itself, it scorns the senses to meet its own ends. We love to feel loved, and love to feel loved. Your love matters more than you do. Without love, what are you? Someone’s lackluster lover. Just a desert. The loving are labeled. Let loose to love of their own leverage. Let them live. They live to  love. I love your songs. You sing so lovely. Don’t you just love it? Loving v. Virginia. Some have lost their urge to love. Some willingly. You salute the flag for the country you love. You feel love. You don’t. Do you even know what love is? I don’t. I don’t let love decide me. I’m my one true love. But I love you too. Just like Bob Dylan once loved Joan Baez. Is love the absence of hate, or the overwhelming presence of affection? Do parents love their children? or do they just say that. Likes: long walks on the beach, hiking, Morgan Wallen’s double album from a year ago. Dislikes: Smokers, bigots, spicy food. Make love not war, meat is murder, sloganeering spectcular. Love thy neighbor. Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. That’s all I know, I’m not catholic. But my girlfriend is, and I love her to death, so I gotta learn it. Learning to Love, learning to fly. RIP Pink, Love You Forever. Beloved husband, father, and friend I love John Cassavettes. And Peter Falk. I would do anything for them, for they hold the key to my heart, from which pours the potentially endless rivers of love. LOVE, a cirque-du-soleil show based on the catalog of the Beatles, who said love a lot. Jahn Beet Wif, not very peace and love :( sad face emoji. I love to laugh. Love, Jacob. P.S. I love you.

reasons lc kane is annoying; 2023 unapologetic Eddie Munson fan, grown adult woman who is holding on purely bc of the sims 2, had an episode over private presley by peach pit, refers to herself in the third person, made kurt cobain a painting for his birthday, genuinely believes antichrist superstar is a prophecy about her life, A&W by lana del rey apologist, didn’t watch opening night by john cassavettes for four months after hearing about it bc she was scared it would “activate” another prophecy (i fell on the floor during it and sobbed), gender envy for both marilyn manson and rose mcgowan, loves the teensploitation thing from the 90’s, diehard michael pitt apologist, shaved her eyebrows so she could make them skinny like a 90’s model, favorite radiohead song is fake plastic trees, makes everybody CDs with songs they’ve already heard bc she likes to design album covers, loves shitty video games from the early 2000s as long as they’re scary, doesn’t like nine inch nails but still apologizes for them, will watch any keanu reeves movie and say it had merit, thinks point break should be referred to as a film and not a movie because it’s like inverted my own private Idaho, thought she was the reincarnation of river phoenix when she was 17 and cried bc she thought she would die by the end of the year, saw As You Are with Charlie Heaton and had a meltdown during the Kurt Cobain death scene, actually likes as you are with charlie heaton, brian slade kinnie, nancy spungen kinnie, doesn’t do drugs, drinks too much coffee
