Do you ever wonder if Reese just stares at Finch sometimes when they're in the library together? Reese just siting quietly, eagerly taking in every detail about Finch and filing them away as Finch reads or types or something.

And it's not like Finch doesn't know, but he lets Reese do it -doesn't look up because if he does he knows Reese will quickly glance away as if he'd been caught doing something wrong- and he knows that watching him somehow soothes Reese, so he lets him stare. Encourages that moment of blissful peace as they sit quietly together because if anyone deserved something good -to feel safe, happy and loved- it was John Reese.

Who is soft and kind and unapologetically bright despite the fact that he's had life try to smother that light. Who will go out of his way to make sure Finch is comfortable even if he has to bend over backwards to do it. Who brings his favorite tea and pastries from the shop he likes. Reese, who would die for him without Finch asking, but instead lives for him because that’s what Finch needs. So if he could give Reese this one thing, he would, every single time.

honestly i think if jim caviezel wasn't a literal demon and we had gotten a reese/carter relationship carter would have been like "okay pit stop you have to get a handle on your weird homoerotic situationship with finch. i don't care that you have one but i refuse to involve myself with anyone this bad at emotional communication" and it would have led directly to 109856 shots of reese looking pained and horrified (tm) as he forces out basic sentiments like "i enjoy your company" and in response finch hisses and starts at him like a feral cat

12: what's a headcanon you have for this character?

this is in no way 100% original bc i know i've seen fics about this too, but one of my favorite things is the idea that bc john has spent his entire life being a ~tool~ and a ~weapon~ that other people get to use to the extent of his usefulness (uh oh !!! why are all the characters i like The Same this is embarrassing) he doesn't know how to like.... be a regular person. and he gets super out of his depth when other people (team machine for example) expect it of him. like ????

you got smashed thru a wall pretty hard there john. we need to have a doctor make sure you don't have a concussion. and john is just like nah im gonna sleep it off its all good and everyone is like N O and he just does not understand what the problem is. mr. omnipresent billionaire finch like, ordering stuff he thinks john needs or would like and putting it in the apartment he rents for john, and john is like ?????? what do i do with a robe????? and finch is like. um. you wear it. when you're cold. and it's ENTIRELY FOREIGN.

john has never considered doing something about, for example, being cold in his apartment. why would he? why waste the energy cost of adjusting the thermostat, why purchase an entirely separate article of clothing or bother dirtying a different one, when he could just...... Be Uncomfortable? what difference does it make? he's trained to do way more uncomfortable shit than be cold. it's whatever. but harold seems to be particularly incensed about this idea. and maybe he does try out the robe when it's cold on a winter evening or a spring morning, eventually- curiously, hesitantly, acting like he's never seen one before. and hes like.......huh. its pretty nice actually. maybe there's something to this after all.

ok so confession 😭 i was never super directly in this fandom bc this show went off the air before i was super into any tumblr tv show fandoms. like i was absolutely reading fic on ff dot net, but i was not having a fandom experience lol. so i have actually never rly discussed any poi thoughts or made playlists or rly engaged at all, and as such i must give a sort of a cop out answer bc i don't rly have a good answer, BUT: THE USE OF THE JOHNNY CASH VERSION OF HURT IN THE SHOW AFTER. A DEATH. I WON'T SAY MORE IN CASE IT'S A SPOILER. but yeah that made me ugly cry every time i've seen it tbh, and every time i think about the fundamental defining pillars of john's character during the show, that montage section is one of them- it's still what i remember the song most for, too, bc i hadn't heard it before then, but it was perfectly chosen, and i love how emotional that song is <3

Happy Halloween! (I know it might be a little past the actual day now, but, eh!)

I present to you some post Halloween headcanons for little Tracys.

Once they all get home from trick-or-treating each of the boys will dump out all the candy they've collected and take stock.

Scott and Virgil will do swaps with each other - Skittles for Reeses Pieces or whatever, so each boy has the candy they prefer. They will sample a few sweets that night before bed, but not too many. Both of them are okay at rationing out their supply over the next week, maybe two.

But John is the one who can make his candy stash last the longest, He is the expert at rationing - eating the candy with the earliest expiration dates first and everything. He's been known to have Halloween candy into the new year (by which time there may also be Christmas candy in the stash. His brothers have had their moments of trying to find and raid said stash, with varying levels of success. But they never find it all.

Gordon is the most likely to eat so much candy on Halloween night, or the following day, that he'll get a stomach ache - or worse, make himself actually sick!

Alan admires the way his biggest brothers can make their candy last a long time and tries to do the same . . . but the sweets are so tempting he's usually eaten them all within three days.

Leonardo:

Leonardo like vampire/fantasy movies. Listen, just because he has to be the serious one, doesn't mean he can't also be a nerd.

His favourite movie is "Interview with a Vampire". Just something about the beauty of this movie he enjoys.

A close second is the LOTR Trilogy. Sometimes while he's meditating, he will have "Taking the Hobbits to Isengard" on repeat through his headphones; he'd never hear the end of the teasing from his brothers otherwise.

Rahpael:

Raphael loves violence, but his favourite kind of movies are chick flicks. So movie nights with April are always fun as they gush over all the girly things.

His favourite chick flick is "Legally Blonde". Raph says the character development of Reese Witherspoon's character was well done.

He so wishes that she could be his lawyer, something about all that pink would distress him from all the black.

Donatello:

If Donatell had the chance to attend school, he would most definitely be a theatre kid. So his favourite kind of movies are ones with musicals.

His favourite movie has to be Grease. John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, such beautiful numbers between them.

Living in the abandoned underbelly of New York has its perks. Donatello has a secret soundproof room, to which he hides every piece of Grease merchandise he could get his hands on. Not to mention he can freely dance the numbers and belt out Danny Zuko's songs to his heart's content.

Michelangelo:

Mikey loves all kinds of action, so it's no surprise his favourites movies are all action-packed masterpieces.

His all time favourite movie is "White House Down". Guns blazing, fight scenes, blood and badassery? Not to mention Emily Cale's bravery being just a kid was his favourite part.

Try as he might though, he cannot hide his massive man crush on Channing Tatum in this movie, Ex-Military man protecting the president? Mikey says its drool worthy.

saw your tags on an ask from a couple months back where you referenced an au/headcanon where actually, warrick's not dead, just in witness protection, & i wonder if you'd care to elaborate at all because that's also one of my fave (although self-indulgent) au/headcanons

so back in the day I honestly used to play around with the idea, often writing fics where nick and warrick got trapped but reunited, warrick explaining that he was put into witness protection and I think it was within the past two(?) years? maybe three or four now where I had a dream that I do want to turn into a fic of a similar thing happening, nick and warrick finding themselves in danger and then finding each other--idk if anybody has seen person of interest but warrick was basically pulling a john reese and walking down a street at night with a rocket launcher that he was firing at cars coming at him and in one of those cars was nick, tied up and both nick and warrick had beards and teased each other about it lol, and I think I had a larger fic-universe plan to kinda rewrite things, mostly to expand on ships a bit more but the big central point of the fic would be that warrick lives, and sage warns nick that with warrick living there's now a loss that needs to be fulfilled. i think I've also talked about/thought about nick being shot along warrick in for gedda and both of them living from it

and idk, while I do think they handled the death well and didn't just forget about it, constantly reminding us in seasons afterwards and one of the final flashes nick has in his final episode on his way out is that first moment we see of him and warrick in the pilot, and it was an easy way to allow some members of the team to leave when maybe they wouldn't have, and of course gives a lot of angsty fuel for fics BUT

it's just so much more fun and satisfying to imagine warrick being able to return, maybe not immediately but someday--hell another dream i've had is nick, sara, greg and warrick all reuniting for the revival series lol and it could offer up some good angst, with the team having mourned warrick's death and vice versa, warrick's been without friends, without family and even missed the early years of his son's life and having to cope with that, and all of them coping with each other and the changes that happened and the threat that while gone, is not forgotten and maybe adds to their drive as CSIs or maybe also questioning (like Nick often did with the corruptions)

that and well, warrick is one of the best characters on the show

I'm sorry, I managed to miss this one. Please forgive my late response.

I think I've already told you this, but I've been thinking about it a lot recently: aspec Lirael with Nick. He is, according to some earlier bits of the Sam POV bits in the book and some allusions in The Creature in the Case, probably a bit of a rake. But also maybe a bit of a romantic. Lirael is pretty aroace but a little bit demiromantic and not sex averse. She has strong feelings about Nicholas Sayre, but their relationship is mostly nerd4nerd and digging through the books at the House and in the Great Library of the Clayr. They are fascinated with each other and bonded by trauma and historically significant events more than they're in love with each other. They have kids (because bloodlines), and those kids are hella powerful Charter Mages and Free Magic sorcerers. That generation does more true experimentation with the Charter and Free Magic than has been done in centuries (Lirael and Nick and Sam obviously explore it, but both they and Sabriel/Touchstone were experimenting out of necessity and still had to spend most of their time fixing things as opposed to finding new things). Uh, so, that's a lot of headcanon for you.

I definitely live in a fandom bubble and have no idea what is popular or unpopular in most of the things I fan about. But, in Person of Interest, Lionel Fusco & John Reese is a much more compelling relationship (platonic) than any iteration of Harold/John or Harold & John. Harold and John are the main characters, yeah, but their relationship builds in a pretty standard kind of arc and they're just both guys with mysterious, "anonymous" backgrounds doing extralegal vigilante shit. Fusco is a dirty cop turned good guy who has an exciting arc! And he has the best nick names for John! And he has fantastic rapport with all of the other team members. The fandom is sleeping on them.

I answered this earlier with a thing about Chicago train schedules in the 1950s, but I've looked up some pretty random stuff. I'm going to go with wedding venues in Austin, TX (a city I have never been to)that have been around for more than 30 years (for my hangster 27 Dresses AU) and also were close enough to a park one might casually walk through. That was a really weird one to try to figure out, and apparently my cookie/tracking blocking extensions in Firefox work because I managed to escape being bombarded with wedding-based targeted ads.

You did as he said, finding everything just as he described.

You moved to the doorway of the bedroom, your expression unreadable. "Why? What made you do this?"

Reese shrugged, hesitantly meeting your gaze. "Just seemed…right. You're here all the time anyway. You have a key. It seemed only fair that you have a place to put your things."

The rest of the team being shocked when they come over and see all of your things in Reese's place and teasing you about it.

Tending to each other's wounds.

Both of you going feral when the other is wounded or in trouble.

Cooking together.

Reese counting down the minutes until you both can go home and climb into bed with Bear at your feet or snuggled between you both

Reese is a cuddler.

He's also pretty old-fashioned.

Helping you with your coat, opening your doors.

Finch wholeheartedly approves.

He'd watch your interactions from afar, smiling and thrilled that his friend had finally found someone.

Forcing Reese to sit through all of your favorite rom-coms and reality shows

Reese eventually getting hooked on all of them against his will.

Any headcanons about John Reese ?

Oh, tons! I'm always all about the headcanon. 

I always saw John Reese as fundamentally a gentle person born with an unfortunate natural skill for violence that kills him inside little by little every time. What Finch gives him is what he's needed all along, care and compassion. John can use his innate care and compassion for others and he can receive it for himself too for the first time since Jessica. It changes his life. For Finch and all the numbers, he can be there in time.

John gets to use his brutality to help for real for the first time ever, since he's always just been exploited for his gifts/curses. His work with Finch is a true partnership. Harold is always his boss technically, but John learns that they need each other deeply, and what John needs more than anything in his life is to be needed, not for his prowess with his fists or a gun, but for his heart and his bravery, his soul.

TBQH i think Finch had a bit of an Oh No moment long before John ever knew he existed, watching him let that innocent number go. As for John, he’s been a little in love with Finch for as long as they’ve been working together, and that’s fine. But I think his major oh no moment, when he realizes Finch might be in love with him too, happens on a darkened rooftop with a bomb strapped to his chest, and they’re either going to live or die together because that’s all they know how to be anymore.

Additional Oh No moment: the end of 1.05 when Finch tells John to try the eggs benedict and slides him the menu with no picture inside and John tries and fails to hide that stupid smitten smile behind his had at this one little thing show of trust that Finch has given him HNNNNGH big oh no

AHHHHHHHHH what good moments omg like honestly John smiling dopily like a lovestruck teenager just because Harold decided to share his breakfast preference with him is definitely an ‘oh’ moment.

Also what in the world is it with this man and softly proclaiming his love for Harold and thanking him and smiling at him right before he is about to be blown up on a rooftop, how has this happened more than once John plz.

I have different moments for both Harold and John:

For John, his first “oh...” moment was definitely at the end of Judgement after he stopped smiling ridiculously at a plate of eggs and started thinking about why he was smiling ridiculously at a plate of eggs.

His “oh.” italicized realization was when he stumbled out of a garage bleeding all over the place and Harold was right there to catch him.

And his “oh no.” moment was when Harold was taken from him (the first time) and he paused in the middle of the street to glare at the nearest street cam and growl at TM to help him get Harold back.

For Harold, I think his first “oh...” moment when he found himself trusting that John would somehow come for him and leaving him cufflinks as a clue (and John not letting him down).

His italicized “oh.” moment was on the rooftop when John was about to get blown up (the first time) and he realized he couldn’t let that happen.

And his final “oh no.” moment was when TM had moved itself and he stood in front of John and confessed that he might have been responsible for how John ended up here... and John just smiled softly at him with like the most hearteyes to ever hearteyes I can’t even believe how soft and understanding and forgiving and full of love this gif is:

if you think john reese's agreement with the machine didn't include him rigging up weapons all over that rooftop that it would control while simultaneously projecting a hologram of him shooting said weapons as he rappelled himself over the side of that building and escaped in one piece to subversively reconnect with the team after ensuring they were all safe, you're dead wrong and can fight me
