So I just had the (not really) revolutionary idea to give MC the possibility of choosing a "best friend" from the ROs. Like, a non-romantic but close relationship. This would be determined during the same choice sequence in Chapter 4 where MC is also able to reconsider their romantic notions.

At first, I thought "oh yeah I'll add this for the MCs who aren't interested in romance" but then I went "holup, that's kind of unfair; MCs who are romancing one of the ROs SHOULD actually have the opportunity to be close friends with another". It would only make sense. Also, it'd be especially neat if an MC who's romancing one of the Malak siblings could be best friends with the other. Sister/Brother in law-style.

I think I really want this option in the game, but I'm... hesitant. That's a lot of extra content for me to write. It might be a bit easier if the best friend option was restricted to non-romancers. Idk I need outside input.

On one hand - Duh, can very obviously tell. Especially with the way they waited until the last moment to show his face.

Of course they're going to make one of the villains stereotypically hot for the fanservice. Especially when The Spot is basically faceless and morally irredeemable (unsurprisingly that doesn't stop people)

BUT THEN I remember these are the same people that were calling him an animal and stuff in the script and I-

I feel like they thought this was what people wanted - which, based on the sea of smut, kinda is - and in doing so they accidentally turned the knob up WAY WAY too much to point they 1) totally disconnected Miguel from his comic counterpart and 2) stumbled into some questionable race stereotypes.

And like.. I don't hate them for it. Because they seem so oblivious?????

They very clearly wanted him to be like an 'Edward Cullen' - buff, attractive, tortured, dangerous, a literal vampire -

But not understanding intersectionality, they didn't realize that applying that same archetype to a brown man reads WAY WAY differently.

Like, all I want to do is sit the writers down, show them a slideshow explaining what the hell 'Machismo' is to them, and then go

"iight now try not to do that shit again. The ass can stay but y'all have to tone down the animal shit. Like by a LOT. I'm going to need four scenes of him being humanized on my desk by Monday."

Reading that article and hearing them talk so enthusiastically about Miguel's ass and wanting to make him hot - while also calling him animalistic and designing him to be so - I literally do the Call of Duty meme like

Really wish there was a positivity movement for Black nonbinary people.

Like I love the Black Woman Feminity Movement so much and I felt so welcomed by it before I transitioned.

But now as a high-femme nonbinary person whose gone through T and top, there's.... Literally no positivity for us at all. No representation :/

Like, all the outfits of the pretty clothes and opulence and self care just.. doesn't apply to me any more, I don't feel welcomed. Even though I'm black and femme.

I don't know. I just wish there was more representation of us.

And it's like... If we can agree that no gender owns femininity, and that feminine energy does not come from the womb, but the spirit - then I wish it was more open and accepting.

I wish when we talked about black femininity, we also thought about non-cis black people as well.

But when it comes to queer black femme people we're hardly ever told that we're worthy, or valuable, or deserve luxury and care.

We're so often forgotten by the black community.

I remember I use to be in it DEEP. I smelt like cupcakes. My gloss was always pink. Nails always done. My lashes. ON FUCKING POINT

But now I feel so isolated from that culture and the aesthetic, not because it makes me dysphoric, but because I don't feel welcome in the narrative anymore

And I know a bunch of people will say "Well you asked for this when you transitioned" and it's like hoe no I didn't. I transitioned for a body I was comfortable with. I didn't ask to lose one of the most important communities I've ever been in.
