I tried to translate "Journey's Prequels, Journey's Traces' by Iyowa
youtube
Translated Lyrics:
Watching the hand-me-down recollection Of someone else's journey It looks so fun and tickles my imagination Filling my eyes with sparkles
Even the sea, even the sky What's far beyond the horizon of those stories I'm curious, I'm just so curious about it I can't sit still! I'm too excited! I just can't wait any more!
I felt something change Mama, Papa, don't stop me! My half-written report ¹ Will be all done before I go on my journey!
I wonder what I can become Now, with just this borrowed piece Something far beyond my imagination Really might happen!
Watching the hand-me-down recollection Of someone else's journey It always looked so grown-up I've always longed for it
From a chance encounter, we get to know eachother And become best friends I'm curious, I'm just so curious about it My heart skips a beat! I'm ecstatic!
"When you've grown up biiig and strong" And run headfirst down an unknown road To start your own journey outside this town You might be suddenly discovered by the great wide world!
I wonder when I'll be ready Now, a boat carrying my imagination might set sail Flying far beyond the sea and the sky
"Someday you'll have gone far, far away Even on the other side of the world, I'll always love you Don't rush, it's okay to turn back You'll always have a home to return to here
Never forget, you will always Have allies by your side Keeping you in their hearts"
Something changed Totally, absolutely, in every which way, it changed! Breaking out into a sprint because I received a precious item ² That I won't lose no matter where I go!
Because I can be like you too! Now, with just this borrowed piece The things far beyond my imagination Really might happen!
Notes:
1- Report (レポート)is the Japanese Mechanic Name for a "Save" in Pokemon
2- Precious Item (たいせつなもの) the Japanese term for "Key Item" in Pokemon. In Japanese this is not tonally jarring but in English "precious" seems to fit the tone of the childish singer better

Andor recontextualizes the whole original trilogy, to the point that it actually makes me like it more. Like originally, A New Hope and the rest are just a standard hero's journey/chosen-one story about some dude who does training montages and then kills an evil wizard. But when you add in Andor and Rogue One, you have an entire history of the struggle to build and the struggle to destroy the Death Star. You know the many who fought and died over decades, what the existence of the Empire actually means, and what they want to do with the Death Star once finished.
Suddenly Luke isn't some magical boy, he's just a specially talented, well-placed person. He stands on the shoulders of millions who died to get him to where he needed to be so he could do the thing they needed him to do to alleviate everyone's oppression. According to Rogue One he's not even the only person with jedi potential in the resistance! He's just the only one to get any real training or equipment. Luke may be important, but he's not special. The whole saga makes Luke feel normal, and it does so by populating the universe with heroes.
This is the ideal of what prequels should be: standing strong as stories in their own right, while adding to the narrative power of the original story by giving it more context.

thinking again about how the idea of anakin kind of haunts the OT, how he's a story to his son and a ghost to obi-wan, both present and absent whenever darth vader's on screen. he seems like a myth inside a myth, a figure belonging to a lost golden age, a hero story of old. i think it's kinda why the prequels feel so profoundly mythic to me, they're like one step beyond the hero's journey, filling out an implied pantheon in the OT stories. the fall of the republic feels kind of like a titanomachy, battles of an older generation of gods.
it's like anakin is a heroic precursor, whose brief, golden life in the light was coextensive with our brief glimpse in the films of that civilized world that was lost with his fall. that lost identity is just one step higher and beyond into the realm of legend, the realm of the jedi, when the world was good and noble, with honor and justice. darth vader may roam among the OT heroes but anakin lingers in the story as a story until the very end, when he returns to destroy the last of the titanic elder generation, making way for the new age of heroes.

I love when the hero chooses their loved one over the world, like to hell with saving everything if you can't be part of it, but I also love when the villain chooses their loved one over the world, like to hell with destroying everything if you have to go down with it

people who are like. there's can't be an spn w/o sam....um. i think we just saw that there actually can be an spn without sam. and in fact, canonically, now there very much is a part of spn without sam, and a part of dean's story without sam. like whether you watched it or not, it's there now. it's part of dean's canon. dean, canonically, was not driving aimlessly for 40 yrs waiting for sam, he was doing his own thing and finding his own purpose and processing his own grief and trauma, and figuring out what he wants for *himself*. like whether you like it or not, whether you watch the prequel or not, the dean parts of this story are canon now and any future spn continuation / spinoff / mini series reboot (with or without sam) is going to acknowledge those new parts of canon

My latest post, that is my post on Order 66, is a response to another post actually. I’m not really interested in that part of the lore. By and large, I’m never too keen on lore diving when it comes to Jedi philosophy and the Jedi purge. I think the Jedis are popular enough, meaning there have been vast discussions done about them which I don’t know where to begin with and I don’t know what I can contribute meaningfully to—unlike when it comes to Palpatine for example. Order 66 is also something very popular, both the franchise runners and fans have discussed it extensively—some people even complained of Order 66 fatigue—and frankly, it is something cut and dry: Palpatine, a dude from an opposition philosophy/religion, took power and slaughtered the Jedi. But apparently, it is not.
Basically, I encountered a post that denied Order 66 as genocide and was very hostile toward the Jedi. Having been a Star Wars fan on Tumblr for a while, I don’t think these are unusual. But then it got a little crazy when… let’s just say OP blurred fiction and real-world events too much, outright condoning real-world genocide on certain religious groups, dehumanization was aplenty, going as far as calling said groups “parasites” and saying it is merely getting rid of pests when you eradicate them. At the end of it all, they accused people who are pro-Jedi, not only the extreme part of that camp, and even people who are casual about this whole Jedi business but are against Order 66, as supporters, nay, part of this real parasitic religious group. They said such people should just die. They also called the Jedi Nazis.
There is a part of me that wants to believe it was an act of trolling, but it mixed up real-world and fiction too much…. Ish, it was just lowkey disturbing. I still let out a gobsmacked chuckle when I try to remember what the words were.
I suggest you all check out the post especially the reblogs section. It is fucking wild, pardon my French, it is fucking WILD. We got colonialism down there, we got the Nazis, we got religion, and of course we got Star Wars. I don’t put up links to it or straightforwardly reblog it because… because I’m a cowardly bastard and online fights are exhausting. So, check it for yourselves
P.S.: that definition is a little skewed in comparison to the Convention because of its exclusivity (“…minority”.) whereas the Convention is inclusive. But anyway…

We know that Erlang saved his mother and reunited with her. However, in other versions, he fails and his mother dies. At what point did this version of the story become known or what are the first versions where Erlang fails to save her?
Well, it is kinda a complicated answer.
Elang has the famous story of him carrying the mountain and chasing the sun which came around the Song Dynasty around 960-1279. The story actually doesn't start with Erlang saving his mother, until the Ming dynasty 1368 - 1644 that which was connected to saving his mother. It was Erlang Baojuan where it brought up the tale of Erlang Shen splitting the mountain to save his mother, which was connected to the existing tale of Erlang chasing the suns. But in this tale his mother was actually attacked by Sun Wukong and that is why she was under the mountain and in this version, Erlang Shen is the one to put Wukong under a mountain in revenge. This could be where Erlang's mother being injured from being under the mountain comes from.
"Erlang Baojuan" tells a complete story: Yunhua, the mother of Erlang Shen, was pinned down by the monkey pilgrim at the foot of Mount Tai. Erlang Shen received the advice of the Queen Mother and carried the mountain to chase the sun in order to save his mother. He then split the mountain to rescue his mother, but her mother did not wake up. Erlang Shen also collected medicines and made elixirs, and boiled elixirs and holy water for his mother to take. Only then did his mother wake up and mother and son reunited. In order to avenge his mother, he pinned the pilgrim under Mount Tai." -baidu page
So this is more drama in another version, even if it doesn't work chronologically speaking with the Wu Cheng'en's Xiyouji canon but honestly speaking I think that there is just so many versions where Erlang's mother doesn't survive because of the 宝莲灯前传 Lotus Lantern Prequel that slightly changed this story as well. This show has it that Erlang does save his mother in the end, however, the Jade Emperor sends his ten sons to kill her, which they do. Erlang in his anger shoots down nine of the ten suns, connecting to his chasing the suns legend, but is stopped before he can kill them all. So kinda that Erlang killed his cousins to avenge his mother.
I could be wrong and this is also another version that I just cannot find out written anywhere before Lotus Lantern Prequal but if I'm wrong please someone correct me. Otherwise, the best I can say is that Erlang's mother dying is just more of a popular headcanon in the community (similar to Bailong being called Ao Lie) that other directors and producers have taken up on in other pieces of media.

season 9 has been amazing but i’m kinda excited to be around for the beginning of a hermitcraft season, they were well into the empires crossover arc when i started watching double life (which was pretty much my introduction to mcyt in general) so this is gonna be my first time actually being around for the early game
#man i REALLY fell into this whole thing ass backwards#it literally all started bc of scar#my sister knew about him and i was like ok so i’ve just seen this man play minecraft#and it was somehow the most stressful thing i’ve experienced in my life#and she was like ‘would you like to see someone desperately try to keep him alive for approximately 6 episodes’#i watched all the life series (at the time) in reverse order and then moved on to hc 8#which i feel is worth mentioning bc this watching order caused me to have what seems to be a pretty unique series of realizations#it was like oh wow scar really is that stressful to keep alive -> oh shit there’s prequels to double life?? ->#oh shit the double life (and prequels) players are in OTHER minecraft series??? -> holy shit the double life guys can BUILD???? ->#(discovers the swagon was a ‘starter base’) HOLY SHIT the double life guys can BUILD -> MOON BIG??????? ->#NORMAL HERMITCRAFT SEASONS ARE *HOW* MANY EPISODES????????????#-> */CROSSOVER EVENT??????????????/*#and that’s just the major story beats that shit was a JOURNEY#mumbling#there were some other notable shocks along the way#like the discovery that the popular fan interpretations of the life series involved any angst whatsoever threw me for a LOOP#bc they're all so clearly being silly goofy with their buddies#to be clear i'm so on board with taking it all extremely seriously for the sake of Lore#it's all very fun#but going in i was not expecting it at ALL

If, as Liu Yuning teased on Weibo, they do make a Liudao Hall prequel, I would also very much like a more complicated and not necessarily all feel-good sequel with Yang Ying and Li Tongguang.
Think of the potential for their adjustments, both personal and political; of their being forced into proxy parenthood of the princeling; of their understanding of mentorship, now that they're in the roles Ning Yuanzhou and Ren Ruyi previously occupied.
And the slow love and understanding that I feel sure is possible for these two.
Somebody just give me a post-canon fic. I'll be happy with that.
