in err 1991 i believe when julian was 13 he got sent to that one swiss boarding school to curb his alcoholism (did not work clearly) and two years later when julian was 15, 13 year-old albert also arrived. julian stayed for two years and albert stayed for six months. julian had this to say about their meeting SNIFFLES. theyre never beating the soulmate allegations i fear

How did you become friends at first? Julian: Two of us arrived in a private school in Switzerland. I felt I had nothing in common with the others. They were so different from people I knew in New York, they were obsessed by clothes Haut Couture. I missed New York so much, it’s really a part of my soul. Meeting Albert was a relief. At last, someone with whom I could talk. There was immediately something, a feeling of complementarity. We talked a lot of music, of our band plans. We gave ourselves 2 years to create a band or to bury this dream. After 2 years, we gave ourselves 2 more years, (laugh).

after albert moved back to la he and julian lost touch until 1998 when albert moved to new york at 18 to go to film school and find himself or whatever. and of course they have the most red string of fate ass second meeting oh my god it makes my stomach hurt. I COULD LITERALLY SEE HIM FROM MY WINDOW. why arent they in a stupid hallmark movie romcom COME ON

and so albert becomes the final member of the band, completing the set ❤️ (the talk, 2013)

Albert, did you have to try out to be in The Strokes? Yeah. I remember when I met everyone. I met Julian first, then Nikolai, got really drunk one night, and then I went to go try out, even though Julian told me later that in his mind I was already in the band. How come? I was an okay player, I could play chords and stuff, but I looked awesome. (Laughs) I just looked like there was only one thing I could do: be in a band.

albert and julian lived together for seven years from 1998 to 2005 when julian got married, they had two apartments together and the first one is the most well known, it's the dumbbell shaped one. idk about the layout of the second unforch

ehhh scrubbing ahead a bit. julian wasn't there for albert's intervention in 2009 because he was on his solo tour

but happily in 2013 we get albert releasing his comeback ep through julian's label cult records (and then he leaves cult records in 2015. c'est la vie.) (nme september 2013)

“I’d been talking to Julian about wanting to release something on his label since he started it,” Hammond Jr explains. “He was like, ‘Let’s put out a song’. So I went, ‘Alright, I’ll start working with Gus [Oberg] and maybe after we do a few songs there’ll be one that’s fun in there.’ I sent him the first, ‘Cooker Ship’, and he was floored. I got an email back with a million ‘yes’-es on it!”

speaking of which. i've posted this before but SIGHHHH (the talk 2013) that song is for his fucking then-gf justyna. (well, most likely. i dont think hes ever outright stated who he wrote it for but the mv is pretty domestic (for the most part......) and theres a bit where theyre kinda dancing in the living room which is one of the things albert told an interviewer he and justyna did a lot → vice june 2015 but of course i suppose you never know)

Kind of like The Strokes’ song “You Only Live Once”… Julian wrote that. I’m in the band, but I still take his lyrics like a fan would. You always relate lyrics to yourself, and I even do that with him even though he is one of my friends and we lived together when he was writing it. God knows what they were truly about. But it came full circle when he was over listening to “St. Justice” from my new solo EP. It was really cute, he was like, “Is this lyric about me?” And I was like, “…no, man.” It really wasn’t, but it was a good circle because I’ve felt that way about so many of his lyrics. When we got in the band, Julian had such a vision, he was just a strong writer, so the first three records are all his.

ending this post here i think bc otherwise i'm never gonna post this SORRY. i'll try to think of more but the tragedy of julian/albert is that it's actually really hard to find fuel for them. unlike milex where they're apparently physically incapable of not being all over and waxing poetic about each other. but then what you Do get is kinda crazy. such is life

tbh I think the message is too worrying because like I think at most it is just going to be Laura isn't into Julian and to be fair anything he does in that world doesn't matter because it isn't actually him. I will say I think it is weird to bring him and bait fans just to say no this isn't happening when you could make things a whole lot less baity and still get the message across.

I do feel sorry for Schultz tho because I believe writers sometimes don't get a say on covers or solicits so it did kind of set her up to take any potential flak. I'd like believe she won't but some people can overreact to stuff.

Again- I don’t want to “pre-judge”… but it is going to annoy me if Schultz does a bait and switch and then does the whole “it’s not my fault, people read too much into it”.

Marvel KNOWS what it’s doing. They KNEW the books sales were down and there wasn’t a lot of hype around the book- so they threw in things the knew fans wanted to see again (Gabby and Hellion) to boost sales.

I think NYX can at least sort of argue “we meant for them to just be friends and didn’t purposefully mislead people”… (although I would argue issue #8 kind of hyped up the possibility of them getting together 😝)

But this feels like Liu all over again- purposely misleading fans who want to see them together with a romantic cover because Marvel KNOWS it sells. 🤨

small correction i think Julian is the stronger telekinetic out of him and Quire

In my head and heart, I agree. Julian is stronger. He has incredible range, speed and power. And he was able to perform telekinesis on a subatomic level, though he did need Rachel's help when he had to remove that explosion out of her ass. It would be a great way to differentiate the two, if Julian styled over him as a telekinetic.

That said, knowing Marvel and how much they love Quire, I feel like they'd go with him being more powerful as a telekinetic. He's already done some crazy feats with telekinesis, including some incredibly intricate and powerful constructs. (I know most of those are supposed to be telepathy-based constructs, like Psylocke's knife. But like... Nah, some of these straight-up are physical objects.) Julian's constructs were almost always basic attacks and shields, and he only recently showed off more range in what he can create.

But I could see them going with Quire being better at detailed things, while Julian is the one with raw strength and force. Quire can make more intricate creations and is more versatile, on top of his telepathic feats. Meanwhile, Julian focuses more on the speed, strength, defense, and maybe the molecular stuff on occasion. Control vs Power.

7) If you could change one thing about your faith community, what would it be?: Hmm. Changing 1 thing is hard. Not because I like hate the church or something but because one thing is related to another thing which is related to another. But, in order to encapsulate as many as possible, my answer is that everyone would earnestly and humbly search the scriptures for the truth (because as Esau McCaulley said, nobody reads the bible anymore) while also being open and tolerant of heterodox interpretations.

11) Have you ever considered converting to another faith?: Not really? I've always been interested in religion and different religious philosophies and thoughts and traditions, but I've also never seen a religion and been like "That one trumps mine" it's always more like "Ooh, there is some wisdom there I would like to incorporate into my faith". In my experience, no other religion has what mine has. Or this or this or this or this and I could go on for a while but you get the point lol. I am willing to stake everything on the idea that (1) there is 1 God and (2) God is Love. The only way that works is the trinity, and only Christians teach it so *shrugs*. So I just accept whatever wisdom others have to offer but could never leave and convert.

15) Have you ever had a divine experience?: Because my philosophy is the way it is I am always attempting to be having a divine experience. Some (following William James) believe mysticism is about visions and experiences, but I think it is "beliefs and practices that concerns the preparation for, the consciousness of, and the reaction to what can be described as the immediate or direct presence of God." (Bernard McGinn) Okay I like just went off on (and deleted) an entire tangent about union with God and perfect love and stuff lol. If anyone's interested just watch this short video.

But I know that what yall really want is something crazy and wild lol. So I have had breathing problems (nothing life threatening, dw) for as long as I can remember. Still do. I remember one particular night, it was pretty bad. Like aching and hurting bad. I couldn't breathe at all through my nose and I was scared if i went to sleep that I would just like stop breathing. Well, i was exhausted but fighting sleep so i wouldn't like die. But then, sometime during the night, I saw what I swear to this day was 3 messengers coming thru my window (window closed so like *thru* the window). No wings or anything, they seemed to be made of light and air. Two of them put there hands on my head, one of them put what appeared to be a gas mask on my face. And then.... I was out. Like a light. Slept and then woke up and I was completely better.

I know a skeptics first thought is "You were sick and exhausted so it's just a hallucination" and I suppose that's true. But the same can be said for Julian of Norwich, Joan of Arc, and John the Visionary, all of whose mystical experiences I believe wholeheartedly. I was in an intermundane place, at an intermundane hour, in an intermundane state of mind, the same environments that I know write poetry in, so it makes sense to me that the veil would slip and I'd be able to see something like this. Even as a young child (or rather, especially as a young child) I was always seeking ever closer intimate relationship with God and was raised with an awareness of the presence of God everywhere. There many things I've seen and heard from my childhood that I have since cast away as charismatic rubbish (no offense to any charismatics out there), but this experience is not one of them.

Edit: dancing in the rain while listening to Experience by Ludovico Einaudi is still the most spiritual experience I have ever had to date. So good I immediately wrote a poem about it. I was in heaven and on earth at the same time and it was marvelous.

so yeah at first: thats a pretty difficult question fghj and it has changed over time ofc! I will really try to narrow it down to three bullet points and include movies, books and audioplays alike :)

the bbc radiodrama "worst journey in the world". if you havent listened to it yet here you go I dont know what to add - it´s marvelous and you will cry

book wise it is probably "madhouse at the end of the world" by Julian Sanction. I was not aquainted at all with the belgica before and I fell in love with the crew after the first 10 pages already. It really illustrates the chaotic nature of non military/navy and self funded expeditions and it´s refreshing to have a crew that´s not british, american or norwegian!!! (well there are norwegians but you get what I mean).

2 years ago or so I would have said Last Place On Earth Or The Great White Silence, but now after seeing "The Endurance" with Kenneth Branagh I have to say that this is definitely my favourite polar movie! (still waiting for Tom Hardy as Shackelton tbh...) I am not really into Endurance Lore YET, but this was an amazing start and I cannot wait to learn more!

11. I LOVE LUCIO!!!!! I AM A 10000% Lucio LOVER!✨✨🌸🌸🌸 I love him so much!!! Ya know how Julian was my first route well back then I ditched Julian and went for Lucio �� for two full years I love and spread all the Lucio I could back in 2020-2021, yes it came with lots of people hating on me yeahyeahyeah but I still love my lil goat 😊😊 yes I know he’s a villain but who doesn’t love a bad guy? (He is just misunderstood) Plus he’s a lil goofball in his route! How could YOU NOT LOVE HIM?!? I think the main think that attracted me to him was the attention he would give mc like dayyum lucio😚😚😚 i have LOTS LOTS of his merch!! He will always have a special place in my heart because he’s been my comfort character for a long time 💖no matter what people say about him or the acts that he’s done I will still love him!!! In my opinion he’s the MOST loyal love interest in the game✨

I’m someone who loves creating and coming up with stories based on my favourite characters, and I thought, what better place to do that than Tumblr? Because I don’t want to have just one big blog that’ll be all cluttered, I’ve decided to make this my main account where I’ll post personal/miscellaneous stuff, and have several side blogs for my different fandoms.
