happy vettonso day!!!! I am smooching you back (also I imagine this must be similar to the ref you made that won't see the light of day)
Tumblr media
and never apologize for rambling in tags!! I love them every time!! you are so right, fernando's answer is so much more loaded and he gives the game away in the process 😭 seb is so sure of himself, he just speaks his insane mind. COMPLETE? so...he's all you need then? 😏 heh! he was sooooo proud of that answer too.
fernando is obsessed with winning the encounter (I just counted, it took him 6 whole seconds to respond lmao) and seb's just like ??? could you just be for real for once 😒...but also maybe be my friend 🥺??? hahaha. thank you for peddling them, I love them so much
Happy (late) Vettonso day to you again!!!(also yes you are right, it is similar LOL. I'd post it but it makes me feel like a Larry shipper.)
You put it so well!! It's just such a key difference in them. Lmao I am about to read into this so hard, I'm normal I swear. I'm sure they both had answers instantly, but have completely different approachs. Seb, as you said, is so sure of himself! He lays all of his cards out instantly because it really is not that deep to him. Complimenting Fernando this one time is not going to have any negative affect, and he does not really see it as a game. The way he says it so quick, in addition to it already being a pretty good compliment, makes it more meaningful. It feels so honest, and like you said, is a friendly gesture. Maybe Fernando will be genuine too if Seb extends the olive branch?
Meanwhile Fernando has to think about it for six seconds, and you would think that time allowance would make his compliment more meaningful but NOPE. As you said, he has to win, but instead imo he comes off looking worse. You can just read into his answer so much more. Does he genuinely think Seb is fast? Did he want to say something else? Would that something else be more negative or more positive? Also "fast" is such a loaded answer imo in this sport; like it seems like such a non-answer at first. He had to think for six seconds, and imo was trying to think of an answer that would both: not compliment Seb too hard but not look like he's not trying(because he wants to win y'know.) But then it ends up with him basically bitterly admitting Seb is genuine compeition to him. I think if he didn't feel threatened by Seb, he would've answered instantly. He tries to keep his cards to his chest, but it's like he tripped and they all fell onto the floor face-up in front of him.
Fernando is NOT winning the idgaf war. I just find it funny that both of them are pretty terrible hiding their true emotion, but the way Fernando goes about it makes it explode in his face. So in his attempt to win the interaction at any cost, he just trips and lets Seb win by being too much a tryhard LOL. But I really love it about both of them. Seb isn't afraid to compliment and as I said, Fernando's avoidance in itself is a compliment(bcs it shows he sees Seb as a legitimate contender.) Your tag about Seb being passive agressive saying "Oh." is so real haha. He does not understand Fernando's evasiveness at all bcs this is really no big deal. And meanwhile Fernando doesn't understand Seb's openess at all; doesn't he understand the game??? Why isn't he playing along???

GREEK ROMANTIC. luke castellan
IN WHICH… luke castellan joins an exchange program to visit camp jupiter for sword fighting experience but ends up spending most of his time with a girl from said roman camp.
Warnings : lowkey loser! Luke, kinda long… so uh yeah, Luke kinda thirsts over reader (he’s 19 and has spent most of his time in a camp, he does not get girls), i worked on this for like a week (PLZZZ READ AND LIKE AND COMMENT AND SUBSCRIBE 🫡), less strict version of Camp Jupiter
idea inspired by @the-empty-refrigerator !
I literally do classical studies, this is perfect for me to yap abt my roman knowledge. I have no idea what Camp Jupiter looks like so imma just use my Roman architecture knowledge for this. THIS IS MY FIRST LUKE FIC IN A WHILE LOL.
( disclaimer : info will differ from this fic to the canon plot bc i don’t know much abt camp jupiter )
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In all honesty, Luke was a little nervous. He had willingly signed up for an exchange program between Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter but now that he was on his way to the latter, he was anxiously bouncing his leg.
Years ago, there was a thick mist between the two camps due to previous events involving bloody wars. Now, that mist was lifted and the campers were free to sign up for an exchange program to visit the other.
Luke was wondering why he had agreed to sign up in the first place. Chiron promised he’d gain further experience in sword fighting, but warned that it wouldn’t be easy.
Camp Half-Blood prided itself on its friendly approach. Camp Jupiter was anything but that. Their campers were rugged, harsh, and disciplined by Lupa, the wolf who raised Romulus and Remus. Of course, their war-like nature made sense because the camp was founded on bloodshed when Romulus slayed Remus.
Luke lifted his head, looking around to see if he could spot anyone in a purple shirt. He was waiting on the side of the road, looking rather pathetic and sad to those passing by.
A black car with tinted windows rolled to a stop in front of Luke, and the car jolted open. “Are you Luke Castellan?” The demigod inside asked. Luke slowly nodded his head. “Hop in.” There was a bit of awkward shuffling from Luke to squeeze past the unnecessary amount of swords in the car. “So, how’s Camp Half-Blood?” The demigod driving questioned, looking at Luke through his shaded sunglasses.
“Good…” Luke was secretly relieved that someone was talking to avoid an awkward car ride. “Probably less demanding than Camp Jupiter, though. I’ve heard horror stories of your training from campers.”
The boy laughed as he sharply turned around a corner. “Yeah. It’s pretty bad. Made me wish I was a normal kid when I had to do all those pushups.” He paused before starting a new conversation. “Do you workout? Because you’ve got some nice muscles. Not to be weird or anything.”
“Uh, yeah.” Luke cleared his throat, “I sort of have to. Being a swordsman and all that.”
The other demigod whistled. “Must be hard, man. I’m Sohan, by the way. Son of Mercury, Hermes for you.”
Luke leaned forward, “I’m son of Hermes. That makes us like… distantly related or something.” Sohan laughed and tilted his head back.
“I like you, Castellan. Mind if I call you Luke?”
“Go ahead.”
The rest of the drive was each demigod taking their turn to explain different parts of their camps. Luke realized that Camp Jupiter didn’t have all the fun activities Half-Blood had. Though, there was a more bloody version of Capture the Flag.
“So you know how you have camp councillors, right? We have something similar but we call them praetors. They’re basically the leaders of the camp.” Sohan explained as he bit into his sugary chocolate bar. “We have two at a time, one girl and one guy.”
“So there’s only two leaders?” Luke questioned while opening the wrapping of his cheeseburger.
“Praetors are the highest leaders. Other than that, we have centurions, augurs, and quaestors. It’s confusing, I know, but you’ll get the hang of it. You don’t really need to know what everybody does, just who’s who.”
It was all too confusing for Luke.
“Our current male praetor is also a son of Mercury, his name’s Jae. Our other one is a daughter of Venus, Aphrodite for you. I think.” Sohan paused before shaking his head, dismissing his doubt. “We all thought she was kind of crazy for going after the position. That’s when I learnt to never underestimate a child of Venus because they are brutal.” Sohan chuckled as the car finally came to an abrupt halt.
Luke peeked out the window, gazing at the tall trees. Past the thick forest, he could faintly see a river.
Sohan grabbed the swords from beside Luke, sheepishly chuckling. “New sword delivery.” He uttered, “Didn’t have time to put them away. Some are still in a box.”
Luke merely hummed as he hopped out of the car. “Need help?” He questioned. He took a handful of swords from Sohan’s pile, easily supporting their weight. Sohan carefully stacked a box on top of everything else before nodding.
“You know, if I was a girl or gay, I’d have a crush on you.” Sohan uttered as the pair walked through the forest. “How do the girls at Half-Blood like you?”
“I’ve been chased multiple times. That should say it all.” Nothing was scarier to Luke than a hoard of girls sprinting towards him on Valentine’s Day.
“That’s the Tiber River.” Sohan pointed out as Luke stumbled into a sunny clearing. “The river that Romulus and Remus were thrown into.” Sohan led the way towards small, slightly unstable bridge. He effortlessly walked over it, ignoring the way the rickety wood creaked.
Luke sighed, having no choice but to follow after Sohan unless he wanted to swim.
“I’ll be the one showing you around. I just have to drop these swords off with the praetors, or at least one of them, and then we can begin.” Sohan piped up. He was shorter than Luke with shiny black hair and olive skin. Luke assumed he was Asian with the slight accent peeking through and the red-inked tattoo on his shoulder displaying a dragon with Chinese characters.
“Praetor!” Sohan suddenly shouted. Luke spotted the H/C-haired girl as she turned around, in the middle of talking with another camper. Luke couldn’t instantly tell who her mother was.
“Oh, the swords. Soldier, go find Praetor Jae.” Y/N hurried the other girl off before jogging towards Sohan.
“This is Luke Castellan. The exchange camper.” Sohan said, trying to gesture towards Luke. The action caused the box on top of the swords to slip. It opened, a group of swords toppling out.
Luke was quick to react. Instead of attempting to catch every sword, he simply grabbed Y/N and pulled her side before the swords could skewer her.
There was a second of silence before Sohan spoke up. “I apologise for my clumsiness, Praetor.” He immediately crouched down to rearrange the weapons, his movements so fast Luke thought they were rehearsed.
Y/N pressed her lips into a thin line as she stared at the swords on the ground. Her gaze flickered to Luke, who still had a tight grip on her arm. “Luke Castellan, right?” She asked, lips curving into a small yet charming smile.
Sohan looked at Y/N then at Luke. “I need to talk to Praetor Jae about something important. Praetor, would you mind showing Luke around?” Sohan didn’t wait for an answer before clumsily hurrying off, dropping swords every two seconds.
“You forget these swords!” Luke called after him but Sohan wasn’t listening.
“Dump them here with the rest.” Y/N instructed with a shrug. Luke dropped the swords, watching as they hit the floor with a loud clang. “Let’s get started with the tour.” She formally clasped her hands behind her back, standing up straighter than Luke had ever seen somebody stand.
“This is the Praetorian Gate, the entrance to the main barracks. On your right is the bathrooms. This street is called the Via Principalis, it’s the central road lined with barracks, the mess hall, and other necessaries needed for our wellbeing.”
Luke was a little stunned with how Y/N was speaking. She was talking like her words were scripted and had been practiced a million times in the mirror. Luke usually free-styled his tours.
“Centurion Sohan will show you your room once he finishes with his errand. For now, all you need to know is that you’ll be staying in one of these buildings. Behind them is the compost bin. Please do not jump in there because we have had to go dumpster diving to retrieve Half-Blood campers.”
Luke let out a quiet sigh. “It was Travis, wasn’t it?”
“You know him?” Y/N questioned, looking over her shoulder in mild interest.
“Unfortunately. He’s my brother.”
Y/N silently nodded, holding back a comment. “Beside the compost bin, where your raccoon of a brother jumped into for a game of hide and seek, are the stables.” Y/N led Luke down a smaller path to show him the stables. He glanced at the bin, arching an eyebrow at a badly drawn version of Travis on a sign with a large X on it.
“We had to ensure nobody else jumped in again.” Y/N explained, “So we put up a sign. It’s not very well-drawn. All the Apollo kids were away so we had no one artistic around. Over there is the training centre. Feel free to use it whenever. We have plenty of new swords as you already know.”
“What about those buildings?” Luke asked in curiosity as they walked back towards the main entrance.
“That’s the Praetorium and Principa, used to hold meetings and act as headquarters. Those aren’t important to you.”
Camp Jupiter was bigger than Luke expected. There were two main areas for civilisation and even a university.
“This is the forum. This area of camp is basically a replicant of Rome itself.” Y/N piped up, “There’s the senate house, also used for meetings, New Rome University, the Coliseum where we sometimes train or host mock battles, Circus Maximum, again used for training, sometimes chariot racing, ceremonies, and so on. There’s a lake over there if you ever wanna spend your free time swimming, but I will warn you that if you ever take your shirt off, it will attract attention.” Y/N teasingly smiled, confusing Luke. She was strictly sticking to her job as a praetor a moment ago, reciting a speech about the camp.
“Uh… why will it attract attention?” Luke sheepishly asked, feeling a little embarrassed for not catching on.
“You’re a new boy, Luke Girls here love fresh meat, especially when they have as much muscle as you.”
Luke’s cheeks flushed light pink. “Right.” He uttered, suddenly aware of how a group of girls was waiting for Y/N to leave so they could pounce on him. “Let’s uh, go back to the bin. I wanna see that sign of my brother again.”
Y/N slightly chuckled. “They aren’t gonna hurt you, Castellan.” She said, referring to the girls behind her, “Unless you want them to.”
“I would prefer to keep all my limbs attached to my body, thank you very much.”
Y/N cracked another amused smile. “Suit yourself. I like my boys missing an arm.” She joked.
“Guess I’ll cut mine off then after all.” Luke wittily retorted.
“We have a game of capture the flag happening tonight if you want to join.” Y/N offered, “You can sacrifice your arm for me then.”
Luke grinned, happy he was actually getting along with someone from Camp Jupiter given their rivalry with Half-Blood. “I’ve heard your games of Capture the flag are a little more harsher… to what extent is that actually true?”
Y/N quietly laughed. “It’s Roman style, someone will probably lose an eye to be honest.” She said it in such a joking tone but there was a look in her eyes that alerted Luke she wasn’t joking.
Luke would definitely come to regret even thinking about joining this game of capture the flag. The teams weren’t organised by Cabins, instead each leader strategically chose their members months before the actual game to ensure a high chance of victory.
Luke ended up standing across from Y/N, dressed in golden armour and holding a sword that seemed to be a little too heavy. Sohan was with Luke, checking his arrows.
“They still allow you to use how and arrows?” Luke questioned, remembering how said weapon was banned from Half-Blood’s game of capture the flag because of an incident.
“What’s fun without a little arrow wound?” Sohan joked. Luke slowly turned his head, eyes wider than usual.
“Not being stabbed by an arrow seems more fun.” He muttered to himself.
He glanced at Y/N, who was carelessly swinging her long spear around. She met his gaze and paused for a second before lightly dragging her thumb over her throat with a patronising grin.
Luke gulped. “She’s gonna kill me.” He whispered.
“Oh, good! That means she likes you.” Sohan nudged Luke with a smile, “The harder she tries to kill you, the more she likes you.”
“That seems a little contradictory.” Luke replied, almost shaking.
“When the bell rings, and trust me you’ll hear it, just follow me. We’re paired together to hide and defend the flag. All you have to do is hide and jump out to stop the opponents. They’ll think it’s only me and then, bam! You come in.” Sohan explained the plan to Luke, who was listening intently so he wasn’t the one to lose an eye.
Sohan tightly gripped the flag in his grasp. “We have ten minutes to plant the flag somewhere. A second bell will ring and that means the game has started.”
Luke nodded, his heart pounding in his chest. A loud bell suddenly rang out through the clearing and Sohan immediately sprung into action. He sprinted off and Luke scrambled to follow him.
“This way!” Sohan exclaimed as he sharply turned to the left. Luke leaped over a log, landing heavily on the hard dirt. The forest should have felt familiar since Half-Blood also played surrounded by trees but this felt different. Luke had no idea where they were going until Sohan came to an abrupt stop.
“Here should be good.” He panted.
Luke looked around. They were surrounded by heavy vegetation and he was barely able to see past the thick tree leaves. Sohan lodged the flag between two stones and nodded in approval.
“The bell will be ringing soon. Hide over there.” Sohan ordered, pointing at a bush beside the flag. Luke sighed as he ducked behind the bush, the twigs below him scraping at his knees. “I hate this hiding place.” He muttered, “I feel like a Guinea pig.”
“That sounds like a you problem.” Sohan replied. “The bell should be ringing any second now. Remember to stay quiet.”
Luke silently rolled his eyes as he ducked lower to the floor in order to get comfortable and peek past the bush branches. In the distance, he could hear the sound of the second bell ringing followed by loud shouts varying in volume. Some kids at Half-Blood, mainly the Ares kids, loved battle cries but not to that extent.
Luke waited ten minutes and when nothing happened, he resorted to lying on his back. Twenty minutes passed and there was still no sign of any other demigods. Luke had resorted to seeing how many leaves he could count before he heard a quiet rustle. He paused, waiting.
Everything was still before Luke heard weapons clash loudly together. He peered above the bush, instantly recognising Y/N past her bronze helmet. There was another kid reaching for the flag while Sohan was struggling with Y/N.
Luke quickly reached for his sword, flinging it at the Roman demigod before he could grasp the flag. The handle hit him in the face, temporarily stunning him. Luke was swift to jump out and grab his sword, holding it in front of him.
“Sorry ‘bout that, man.” Luke uttered. He swung his blade at the demigod boy, who he later realized was named Nikolai because of the inscription in his helmet.
Nikolai counterattacked Luke, effortlessly pushing the Greek brunette back. Luke was reluctant to injure a kid he barely knew but Sohan continuously shouting “hit him” was getting annoying.
Luke grabbed Nikolai by the shoulders, shoving him away from the flag. Sohan was battling against Y/N, who had a spear similar to Clarisse’s. Compared to her spear, Sohan’s bow and arrows and backup dagger wouldn’t be of much use.
Nikolai swung his sword at Luke but every time, Luke managed to block the hits. Luke pushed Nikolai’s sword away, but he underestimated his strength and the sword went flying.
Both Nikolai and Luke turned their heads to stare at the weapon lying on the floor.
“Hit him!” Sohan exclaimed through gritted teeth as he held Y/N back by her arm.
Luke, on instinct, punched Nikolai’s shoulder and scrambled for his sword. He leaned over to grasp it but he was unexpectedly kicked from behind.
Y/N, who Sohan should have been holding back, had knocked the son of Mercury to the ground and made an instant beeline for Luke.
“Don’t chop my head off!” Luke yelled as he rolled to the left to avoid Y/N’s sword as she forcefully swung it down. Luke kicked her ankles, causing her to sway.
Nikolai made another reach for the flag but Sohan managed to shoot an arrow his way, luckily not hitting the boy but it served as a warning.
“You said this was an easy job!” Luke yelled at Sohan as Y/N made another attempt to hit Luke. He tried to strike her ankles again but the same trick wouldn’t fool the praetor twice. She effortlessly pulled him up and slammed his back against a tree, holding a smaller knife to his throat.
“I am literally so scared right now.” Luke wheezed as he wiggled around in Y/N’s surprisingly strong grip. Sohan shot another arrow, this time at Y/N. It barely missed her head. While she was shocked for a second, Luke grabbed her by both shoulders and pushed her back.
“We got a runner!” Another voice suddenly shouted. A member of Y/N’s team, sprinted into the area, followed by two boys from Luke and Sohan’s group.
Sohan scrambled to stop the runner aiming for the flag but Nikolai knocked him back to the ground. Luke made the executive decision to pursue the runner. There wasn’t much Luke could do with his sword so he tossed it aside and did the only other thing he could think of; he tackled the other demigod.
Y/N let out a laugh as the two boys toppled down a hill, each trying to let the other take the brute of the floor. Luke groaned as he spat out a mouthful of daisies. His helmet had fallen off somewhere and he had no energy to actively search for it.
The bell rung once more and the demigod beside Luke sighed as he removed his helmet, running a hand through his messy blond hair.
“You’re the Greek kid, right?” He questioned. “I’m Kato.”
“Yeah. Luke, nice to meet you.”
“Do you also feel like you’ve got internal bleeding?” Kato grumbled as the two boys made no effort to sit up, instead choosing to just lie on the floor among the flowers.
“Oh, definitely.” Luke replied, “Think I might be sick later.”
“You both have bruised ribs. Honestly, it could have been worse. Drinking this will help.” An Apollo kid handed Kato and Luke a foul smelling drink.
“It’s best to get it over and down with.” Kato whispered, “Cheers.”
“Not sure if I actually want to consume this.” Luke wrinkled up his nose but tilted his head back away.
The pair gulped down the liquid as fast as they could, both gagging once they had finished.
“Wow, you guys are almost like twins. If Kato had brown hair, you guys might actually sell it.”
Kato and Luke exchanged a look before they both grinned.
“I didn’t know there was temporary hair dye.” Kato said as he stared down at the box. Y/N sighed, placing her hands on her hips.
“Do you want it or not? Coloured hair spray might be easier for you.”
“Yeah, give me that.” Kato threw the box of temporary dye aside. Luke easily caught it, handing it to Y/N.
“Thanks.” She smiled before looking through a trunk of hair supplies. “Good game out there, Castellan. Are you always that quick thinking on your feet?”
Luke shrugged as he stood beside Y/N, leaning on the bunk bed behind him. “I guess? Most of the time we have to think quickly at Half-Blood. We don’t exactly have strategies for every little thing.”
Y/N and Kato stared at Luke in mild surprise. Y/N let out a quiet huff, “I guess you Greeks are disorganised like Lupa said.”
“She said what?” Luke stood up straight. “We aren’t that disorganised. We still have tactics.”
“Yeah, and they kind of, forgive my language here, suck.”
“At least my whole existence isn’t based on a brother who killed his sibling because of anger issues.” Luke muttered loud enough for Y/N to hear.
“You are so dead, Castellan.” Y/N retorted, leaning forward.
“I don’t really want to use the same threat as you because that’s boring. But I will kick your ankle again.” Luke replied.
Kato cleared his throat. “Don’t mean to interrupt whatever… lover argument you have going on but how does this spray work?”
“The cap’s still on. You gotta take it off first.” Y/N exasperatedly sighed.
“Oh, yeah, got it. Go back to your lovers quarrel.”
Y/N picked up an empty box of hair dye, tossing it at Kato. “There is no lovers quarrel!” She exclaimed.
“Really? Bc I felt something.” Luke teasingly piped up from behind her.
“I hope you choke.” Y/N mumbled, sending Luke a warning glare. “Maybe I should’ve cut off your arm. Would’ve taught you a reason.”
“I’ll just take my shirt off because like you said, no one can resist me.” Luke grinned as they bantered back and forth.
“Don’t rely on your looks to escape me, Castellan. Next time we play capture the flag, I’m kicking you down another hill no matter whose team you’re in.” There was a knock on the door and a rough-looking teenager peeked his head inside.
His body was covered in cuts, grazes, and purple bruises. He had a slit in his left eyebrow and an earring dangling from his right ear. When he turned to Y/N and said something in Latin, Luke noticed a shiny piercing on his tongue.
“Castellan, right?” The boy asked, pointing at Luke. “Nice to meet you. I’m Jae, the other praetor.” Jae stepped forward and reached for Luke’s hand, firmly shaking it.
“Nice to meet you.” Luke greeted him.
“I see you’ve already found yourself acquainted with the devil reincarnated.” Jae slyly grinned at Y/N, who could do nothing but huff and cross her arms over her chest in annoyance. “I’ve got to borrow Praetor Y/N for a second, hope you boys don’t mind.”
Y/N sighed as she followed Jae out the door. “This couldn’t have waited?” She asked.
“I was reluctant to interfere. You and the Castellan boy seemed quite close.” Jae replied with a shrug.
“I will literally feed you to the monsters if you don’t shut your mouth.”
“She likes you.” Kato uttered once Y/N was out of ear range.
“How can you tell?” Luke arched an eyebrow as he sat down on a nearby chair.
“She never argues with anyone. Not like that at least. When she argues, you have to listen because there’s no choice. That was more like… bickering used as an excuse to talk to you.” Kato said as he finally put down the can of hair spray. “Yo, we kind of do look alike. That’s freaky.”
Luke ignored Kato’s last point. “How do you know she doesn’t bicker?”
“Praetor Y/N is a straight to the point type of girl. You’ll know when she doesn’t like something. If she was really arguing with you, she would’ve had you shut up within your first two words.” Kato laughed, “She made me shut up once by shoving the words down my throat… literally. She wrote my words on a piece of paper and made me eat it.”
Kato paused, shivering as he remembered the chilling moment. “Anyway, Centurion Sohan, me, and a couple of other guys are going to the lake for a swim. You wanna join?”
“Yeah, sure, why not. I’ll act as eye candy like Y/N described me.” Luke sarcastically said, making Kato chuckle.
“Trust me, the girls will love you.” Kato only reassured Y/N’s point.
There were already a few smaller groups at the lake when Luke and the others arrived. As Luke combed a hand through his hair, he noticed a few girls looking his way and giggling. Kato nudged him.
“See? Told you they’d love you.”
Luke simply nodded. He lifted his shirt to pull it off but unexpectedly saw Y/N not too far away, locked in what seemed to be a serious conversation with Jae. Her eyebrows were tensely furrowed before her gaze suddenly switched to Luke.
He almost jumped at how fast her eyes moved. He quickly pulled his shirt off, giving Y/N a small wave. She slightly raised her eyebrows but never looked away. Slowly, she waved back.
Jae finished speaking and Y/N nodded, pointing to her right and uttering a few more words before they split ways.
“Wow, you two really do look like twins.” Y/N said as she looked at Luke and Kato. “You sure you don’t share a mother?”
“You out here for a swim too?” Luke questioned, squinting under the bright sun.
“No. I came here to check out the guys and pick my next murder victim.”
“How charming. And I thought what we had was special when you threatened to roll me down a hill again.”
“I’m saving you for last, Castellan. When the police find my victims, I’ll ask you to hide me then I’ll stab you in the back.”
“You know what I’m craving right now?” Luke switched the topic, “A pina colada.”
Y/N stared at Luke for a minute before furrowing her eyebrows. “Is that… some sort of drink?”
She heard Luke dramatically gasp. “You’ve never tried one?! Lucky for you, I’m a master at making cocktails. Just sit here, look pretty, and choose your next target. I’ll be right back.”
That was how Y/N found herself hanging around Luke almost every day, trying different cocktail mixtures he made while sitting under a large umbrella to avoid the heat.
“Why’d you put so much vodka in this one?” Y/N questioned, frowning, “It’s all I can taste.”
“My hand slipped.” Luke shrugged. He was lying on a towel beside Y/N, taking advantage of the sun to gain that perfect summer tan, as he liked to call it. “How come you never join your friends in the water?” He questioned, glancing over at Jae and a few other campers who were beckoning Y/N over.
“I don’t like water.” She covered her eyes with her shaded sunglasses, ignoring her friends. “It messes up my hair.”
“I’ll go swimming then. I think my back is turning red now.” Luke stood up, stretching. Y/N gulped down the rest of her drink, carelessly throwing the cup to the side as she jumped to her feet.
“I’ll come if you’re going.” She announced.
“Why the sudden change in attitude?” Luke teased, nudging her.
“I will force your head under water and let you drown.” Y/N deadpanned, causing Luke to take a small step back. Luke reached for his water bottle and took a large sip while Y/N peeled her shirt off. Luke’s eyes flickered to her for a second before his cheeks turned red and he spat out a mouthful of water.
Y/N looked at him weirdly, a judging glint in her eyes. “You good?” She asked.
“Yeah… fine.” Luke choked out.
Y/N didn’t believe him. She looked down at her bikini with bows and ruffles before raising an eyebrow. “Are you staring at my boobs?” She accused him.
“No! Are you staring at my abs?!” Luke tried to change the conversation but his attempt backfired.
“Yes. You’ve got nice abs.” Y/N shamelessly admitted like a true Roman, never scared to state the obvious.
“Well, in that case, you’ve got nice boobs.” Luke wanted to punch himself as soon as he said that.
“It doesn’t sound right when you say that to a girl.” Y/N scrunched up her face which only made Luke’s desire to be swallowed by the ground stronger.
“I realised that.”
“Praetor! Luke! Are you gonna keep chatting or finally get in the water?!” Sohan yelled from his position on a rock in the water.
“My makeup’s gonna get all ruined.” Y/N huffed but still dipped a leg into the lake. “It’s cold.”
“Lake’s are usually cold.” Luke retorted, not hesitating to jump into the deep end of the lake. Water splashed everywhere and Y/N shielded her face from the droplets.
“Watch it!” She yelled out a warning at Luke as he resurfaced, grinning.
“Oops.” He sarcastically apologised.
Y/N sat down at the shore’s edge, soaking her legs in the lake. “I’m good here.” She said, kicking her legs.
“You sure? The water isn’t that cold once you get used to it.” Luke swam closer to her and heaved himself up onto the warm rock.
Y/N kicked the water again, nodding. “Yeah… I’ll ruin my hair and makeup if I get in.” She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear but it slipped out again, much to her annoyance.
She frowned, reaching for it again, but Luke beat her to it. “You’re pretty without makeup.” He said as he securely tucked the strand away.
Y/N glanced at the boy beside her, suddenly feeling very small. Luke made her feel vulnerable, not necessarily in a bad way. His deep brown eyes made her want to pour out every secret.
Like how she secretly hated an Apollo boy because he kept beating her to the last piece of cake.
Or how she cheated on every English paper in school to raise her GPA because she simply couldn’t read properly.
Or perhaps about how she was afraid of love, despite being the daughter of Venus herself. That fear always made Y/N feel a little stupid.
Or… how she couldn’t swim and refused to swim because she almost drowned once while her so-called friends laughed at her.
“Castell- Luke…” She quickly corrected herself, realising how accustomed she had become to Luke’s presence. “I can’t swim.” She blurted out. “My hair and makeup don’t matter… I just can’t swim. And I don’t want to swim.”
Luke carelessly shrugged and for a second, Y/N was scared he’d dismiss her fear.
“I’ll stay here with you then.” He said instead. “I’ll keep you company.”
“You can swim if you want to.” Y/N replied, fidgeting with her hands. Her heart leaped in her chest and her stomach felt queasy. Was this a crush?
“Nah. I like it here better.” Luke shifted closer to Y/N, slowly slinging an arm around her shoulder. He was expecting her to immediately shove him away but she remained still. Her back was rigidly straight until she hesitatingly relaxed.
“Thank you.” She said as the sun began to set, hues of orange, yellow, and blue painting the sky and reflecting into the lake. Y/N was surrounded by laughing demigods and legacies but she could only focus on Luke; how his hair looked perfect despite being damp, how his skin glistened in the sun, and how his arm was wrapped tightly around her as if he was protecting her from something.
For once, she felt safe. There was no quest she was required to complete, no glory to seek for the Legion, and no heavy exceptions weighing her down.
It was just her and Luke sitting beside each other in comfortable silence.
“Are you sure you have to go?” Sohan asked as he tightly clung to Luke, fully prepared to force the son of Hermes to stay.
“My little sister’s waiting for me.” Luke said as he hugged Sohan back, firmly patting his shoulder. Annabeth. Luke had told Y/N about his sister; they weren’t related by blood but she was his found family.
“Make sure to visit and right.” Jae uttered as he struggled to pull Sohan away from Luke. Y/N stood silently next to Jae, holding Luke’s bag.
“Have a safe trip.” She told him, which wasn’t the goodbye Luke had been expecting. He envisioned a small smile, maybe a hug if Y/N was in a good mood.
“Thanks. Good luck with your praetorian duties.” Luke replied, nodding his head.
“You ready to go?” Kato piped up, throwing the car keys in the air and effortlessly catching them.
“Yeah… I guess.” Luke muttered, stealing another glance at Y/N.
‘KISS HER!’ His mind screamed at him. This would be his last opportunity to address the feelings he had caught for Venus’ favourite daughter.
Jae and Sohan looked at each other then at Y/N, who seemed to be restraining all emotions. They almost seemed like they were begging her to make a move on Luke before it was too late.
“Bye, Y/N.” Luke stuck out his hand and Y/N didn’t hesitate to grab it.
“Good bye, Castellan. Camp Jupiter will miss you.”
Luke knew Y/N was too prideful to say ‘I’ll miss you’. This was her alternative.
Luke and Y/N stared at each other with their hands still gripping the other before they finally halted the awkward exchange.
Luke followed Kato towards the car, somewhat hoping Y/N would chase after him. She didn’t.
Y/N watched with her head held high to conceal her frown as Luke walked away, waiting for the moment he’d turn around and run back. He never did. He passed the stone arch that acted as entrance to Camp Jupiter, most likely to never return and if he ever did, it’d be in a few long years.
A year had passed since Luke’s departure from the Roman Demigod camp. He was pleased to be back at Half-Blood, but there was someone who was missing. As expected, some Aphrodite girls showed strong interest in Luke, but he never paid them attention.
They were beautiful, but Luke missed the girl who would threaten to throw him to the wolves if he even looked at her. He found her guarded personality charming.
“Luke, Chiron needs you to show one of the exchange campers from Jupiter around.” Chris, Luke’s brother, said. “She’s the last one.”
“Oh, yeah, sure.” Luke spent months hoping Y/N would show up randomly one day but after three, he gave up. He had heard from Sohan’s regularly written letters, which often featured Jae and Kato too, that Y/N was busier than ever as a praetor. She had doubled her work load, working until she quite literally passed out. Sohan expressed his concerns but didn’t quite know what was wrong.
“She’s waiting in the strawberry field.” Chris told Luke, pointing him in the right direction.
Luke took his sweet time in walking towards the field, his hands shoved into his pockets. There was a figure standing amongst the strawberries, admiring the various flowers and berries.
“Late as usual, Castellan. How Greek of you.”
Luke’s eyes lit up at the sight of the girl in front of him. He cracked a large grin. “What can I say, Y/N? I’m a true Greek demigod.”
FIN.
A/N: while writing this, I was randomly reminded of an old classic book I read where the main characters are clearly in love but know they’ll never see each other again after they split ways. And now I’m sad.

People who really like shuake also seem to write themselves into a corner wrt Akechi and his relationship to Akiras team. Contrary to popular belief, the team, including Haru, does not hate Akechi. At worst, they tolerate him and deal with his attitude. Hes a good teammate and respectable fighter and the team recognizes that at the end of the day, he was a teenager who was manipulated and abused by a man who saw him as disposable. Just about every thief understands this intimately. They have the same mindset wrt adults who take advantage of the people beneath them. Under different circumstances they wouldve been friends. And if u approach it from that angle, it becomes less about Akechi being the sole person who ‘gets’ Akira, and more about the thieves being the only people in the world who ‘get’ Akechi.
When you expand your thoughts to include the thieves as members of his Team and not roadblocks that get in the way of your ideal shipping dynamic, you allow urself to give Akechi and Akira more depth and nuance to their own relationship.
Akira and Akechi are wildcards; both of them struggle with the face they choose to display to the world. Its the first time Akira interacts with someone who is, at a literal, technical level, his ‘equal’. But Akechi is one of many firsts for Akira yeah? Every thief has their bond with Akira thats completely unique and personal. Akechi will never be the person who witnesses Akiras Awakening, hes never the person who watches Akira have his restless nights alone in the attic, and hes never the person who realizes in real time that the teenager hes housing is just Some Kid, not the delinquent hes been warned about. Hes not Ann or Yusuke, or any of the thieves; he doesnt have the time or experience that they have with Akira, and I think its interesting to explore that part of their relationship, shippy or not.
Akechi is someone who is incredibly lonely and self depreciating despite his cockiness and attitude. He has no positive bonds to speak of save for his connection with Sae. To have him see a team that works together and cares for each other, how do you think he would feel? Out of place? Inferior in some way? Angry about how hes been alone for so long in this single minded quest for revenge? Wouldnt that be a point of struggle between the two of them? I think what makes shuake good for me is knowing that Akechi needs alot of time to heal, and the thieves would want to help with that process. They do it bc they care, bc Akira cares, and bc they trust Akiras opinion (and he trusts theirs in return); if Akira feels like Akechi is someone who can be trusted Now after everything thats happened, then the thieves would do their best to help. And how would Akechi feel about that? Angry about the show of pity? That even now, he has no real say in what happens to him? Or begrudgingly grateful that they are cordial with him? Because they do care, he KNOWS they care, they care TOO MUCH actually; but the one thing he values over brawn and wits is honesty- fighting for what you believe in without having to use soft words to justify it.
#chattin#also like. as an aside#my hcs regarding these two is like. they could not date. theyd kill each other lmao#and like TOTALLY by all means i am obsessed w unhealthy dynamics for shipping#let ur boys be toxic. let them be messy and loud and violent. its like crack to me#but just like fandom as a whole; fanon interpretations are prevalent and LOUD#and so trying to interact with it is like pulling teeth#personally. i think too many of them think of Akechi as like. the Rude one of the bunch#when i like to think of Akira as rude and full of himself when its deserved#and man. being able to outwit Akechi makes it Fully deserved#and i like to think Akira would remind him of this when he tries to intimidate or degrade his team#like. i have a short wip i never finished (basic sketches)#of Akira pulling him aside and grilling him#‘youre here because I Want you here. youre here bc i Allow you to be here’#‘if youre going to stoop low and play petty i can do the same. if theres anyone on my team whos a fucking idiot; its you.’#‘dont make me reconsider having you on the team.’#and akechis like okay great does ur dick feel big trying to pull rank on me?#but really hes fuming. hes MAD. like feral dog mad. bc akira is RIGHT. like he is most times as akechi starts to see.#he has enough of a mind to recognize that hes lashing out bc of his own shortcomings; even if he refuses to admit it out loud#its beyond infuriating. its degrading. its a little 😶.#never had to deal w anyone that rivaled his own brawn and wits. and now theres a TEAM of them#just humbling him time and time again. it sucks. he stays bc he cant help himself 😭#he needs to see more…#also#shuake#for blacklisting

city of stars | narumitsu
Tumblr media
word count: 2.8k
warnings: maybe angst? mostly edgeworth and phoenix arguing with their usual tension LOL
a kind of different take on narumitsu reuniting! someone maybe already did this before and if you did, i humbly apologize
mostly takes place during the first few pw trilogy games
based off of this track, this track, and this track from la la land!
this has a mix of events from the anime and the games :D
i originally wrote this in my friends dms so if this sounds weird, its bc i directly copy and pasted most of this from there LMFAO
Tumblr media
phoenix sighs as he looks down at the half full flute of some kind of alcoholic drink, swishing it around gently; he was bored out of his mind. it was times like this where he asked himself if this was all really worth it, being a lawyer and all. these slightly fancy parties where only business affairs were discussed (for the most part) were his least favorite, mostly full of interns looking to brown nose or older lawyers sharing pointers with colleagues.
Tumblr media
normally, he would have opted out, stayed behind to work on a case. that was all immediately thrown out the window when maya caught wind of the usual elaborate spread of food that was made for all guests to pick from, refusing to let up until phoenix said yes. unsurprisingly, phoenix stood alone, occasionally glancing over at maya who would serve herself some food and seemingly vacuum it away before going back for another plate. with no one to talk to, though, phoenix couldn't help but wander around a bit, occasionally taking a sip of his drink that was beginning to empty: he was starting to wonder if just leaving with maya without saying goodbye to anyone would be so rude after all. he's not too concerned about his surroundings, finding a much quieter area that makes him feel like he can breathe again. and he sees him.
time seems to stop. phoenix's eyes widen a bit as his breath catches in his throat, straightening up. miles hasn't changed a bit in any aspect: everything down to the quirk of an eyebrow that he recognized belonged to none other than miles's father, still looking as cleanly as ever. miles is unable to hide the disinterest in his expression as an older man speaks to him, occasionally laughing at his own joke to which miles can only take a sip of a drink in his hand. the man definitely isn't anyone phoenix recognizes right now, but he could care less. edgeworth is here, the one he's been working to get to for who knows how long, and that he held..some kind of strong feelings for but it wasn't coming to mind right now. eventually, the older gentleman walks away, miles's shoulders drooping a bit in what can only be relief before he takes a brief scan of the room. he spots phoenix a lot sooner than he wishes to, having to do a double take and tensing up all over again: this man, the one he thought he'd left behind in a life that he barely wanted to claim as his own anymore. he had to get out of here.
at the same time that miles starts to walk away, phoenix is approaching him like nothing, all nervous smiles. "h-hey, edgeworth, i thought i'd catch you here!" phoenix says with a quick wave, unphased by miles's hesitance. in all honesty, miles is just praying that somehow, magically, a door will open up and let him escape. his thoughts race and for a few moments, so does his pouniding heart.m much to his dismay, the only escape is the balcony just a few feet away; he's already hoping there's some way he can jump off the railing without some very fatal injury. phoenix is concerned as to why miles is so fidgety now, a teasing smirk on his face at the quip popping into his head already. out on the balcony now, the slight nip of spring breeze hits the two of them, miles's back turned to phoenix who stops only a few feet away from him.
phoenix tries to find something to do with his hands, crossing his arms against his chest and tucking his hands away as he looks down at his feet. "sorry, this is all probably really sudden, i tried to call you-" "what are you doing here, wright?" phoenix just kind of blinks at him and clear his throat a little, shifting his weight. "i, um, thought.." phoenix starts, his voice trailing off as he realizes he can't say the truth: he's here for miles, all this was for him and, selfishly, he thought edgeworth was going to remember too somehow. "whatever it is, i think you have the wrong place. i can escort you out if you truly need me to." miles says, voice firm as he finally turns to look at phoenix; phoenix is only slightly shocked to see the hardened, icy glare on his face. sure, he'd seen him look like that on the news but not at..him. "i'm..not at the wrong place. i'm at the very right place, actually-" phoenix starts before miles interrupts him once again. "catering then? i can lead you to the kitchen-" "no, not that."
miles open his mouth to speak again, phoenix sighing softly in annoyance before he finally pulls out his attorney's badge and holds it out to miles. "there? is that what you need to see?" he say with a hint of irritation, feeling a twinge of satisfaction when he sees the shock register on miles' face. he is completely speechless, the glare on his face dropping for a moment before he straightens up, shoulders tense. "this is..this is impossible, why..you're.." he starts, an incredulous scoff leaving him before he shakes his head. "this is a very cheap party trick, wright, and i'll have you know the people here do not take kindly to impersonation, least of all me-" "why can't you accept it?" miles is silent again and a little shocked at the determined air radiating off of phoenix: definitely not the one he'd known so long ago. "accept that you're in a career you're clearly not meant for? that's easy." and miles just glares at him, arms over his chest. "someone like you couldn't have stomached the likes of the law and stayed for this long. what stories have you heard that made you want to barge in like this-" "yours."
phoenix can feel his heart racing when he says that, more than sure miles will understand now; his ego only deflates a little when miles simply scoffs. "well, i'm afraid you have the wrong person. if you'll excuse me-" miles says, averting his gaze from phoenix as he starts to make for the door he only makes it so far before phoenix gets in his way, making miles come to a halt with almost a look of offense. "tell me what you've been doing this whole time. then i'll leave." there's something of a cold smirk on miles' face, shaking his head before he gently pushes phoenix out of the way, heading for the door yet again. "i don't have to explain myself to you. what i've been doing is no one's business but my own." he says curtly; he thinks he's made it but suddenly, phoenix's hand wraps around his wrist with just enough grip to let him leave if he tries. it's only the two of them but funny how miles can recognize phoenix's hand on his even for that moment.
"you walked away without saying a word. not even when.." phoenix starts, clearly thinking back to that last day in the rain when they were only 9, promising to be friends for the rest of their lives. "how could you do something like that? do you not know how that feels-" "no." phoenix stops before he can even get started again, eyes widening a bit before miles pulls his hand away; his warmth is still there. there's a few beats of silence, miles glaring at phoenix with a look that could kill and phoenix's gaze filled with things unsaid. "now, if you'll excuse me, i should be going. i can see my presence would have been better suited behind my desk." miles mumbles, this time making it through and out the door. phoenix stands there for a moment in shock, shoulders drooping a bit as he seemingly accepts defeat. seemingly. he doesn't even realize he's pushing through the crowd, only pausing to find maya on the couch in what can only be called a comatose state. he hurriedly tells her where she's going even if she doesn't register before he's out the door.
somehow, phoenix catches him: miles at the edge of the sidewalk, looking up and down for..something. miles brings a hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose, grumbling something to himself before he takes a moment to compose himself. he finally faces the world, only managing a few steps: he practically jumps when he sees phoenix at the top of the small flight of steps leading out of the building he'd just left. he stares at him with bated breath, the streetlights shining down on the two of them feels like two hot spotlights and, strangely, miles was having a hard time understanding things. but phoenix is here. "look, i probably ruined your evening.." phoenix starts, making his way down the steps and finally approaching miles but keeping a good distance away from him; even still miles takes a step back. "but we can talk about..anything else. i don't care what it is. do you want a coffee or something, or..what were you looking for just now?" phoenix says, one hand in his pocket and the other rubbing the back of his neck as he gazes at miles apologetically; maybe for more than just this moment.
miles is still in shock, unable to help the incredulous look on his face and giving the man in front of him a once over before swallowing. "my car." phoenix smiles a bit, looking the most pleased he has all night. "that's good enough. i'll help you find it. come on." phoenix says with a smile, taking off down the sidewalk. miles can only watch him, disbelief painted on his features. he can't believe phoenix is even real right now. phoenix only makes it a few steps before he looks up at miles, head tilted as if asking him what's wrong and miles feels something stir inside him, something that was probably not dormant but...forgotten. just for a bit. he takes a moment to catch up, matching phoenix's pace but making no attempts to so much as look at him, let alone make conversation: if at all possible, he wanted to get through this without- "you know i defended larry the other day." ..that name did ring a bell. sadly. "that should have been fairly easy. if memory serves me right, he could barely-" miles starts, arms folded behind him. "it wasn't him. i got him a 'not guilty'."
miles can't help the immediate way his eyes widen a bit and his lips part in shock, looking over to phoenix; his expression drops almost immediately at the VERY prideful look on phoenix's face, a scoff leaving him as he looks ahead again, pretending to dutifully keep an eye out for his car. "i'll tell you exactly how i did it." "i'd really prefer if we just-" miles could kill phoenix for how he immediately jumps into the story, silencing him and making him an (almost) unwilling participant in this. phoenix tells him everything from getting the call to going to court down to the minute details that miles hates himself for hanging on. he only ever offers a question here and there almost like a test he thinks that phoenix wouldn't even begin to be able to comprehend, something that phoenix immediately shoots down with a solution that miles really only thinks he himself would have come up with if he had zero time to prepare for a case. when phoenix finishes, he throws his arms up like 'i'm just that good' and miles can't help the scoff of amusement, his lips twitching into a smile for only a moment before he shakes his head. it's silent as the two of them continue to walk, coming to a stop at the very long end of the road; what were they both looking for again?
they look out at the hustle and bustle of the city, not saying or doing much of anything. the sound of cars drones on in the distance, a siren or two from a police car and the chatter of people further down the walk. "well? am i still not meant for this job?" miles looks up when phoenix says that, arms crossed against his chest and eyebrow raised with a winning smile: miles wants to wipe that smirk off his face, tell him how irritating he's been his whole life, plaguing him with his mere presence in his dreams, tired of thinking of him, and.. he straightens up a bit, clearing his throat and crossing his arms against his chest in the same fashion as phoenix. "while your strategy hangs on that hopes that the judge will believe everything you say and that the jury will side with you,.." he starts, ready to fire some kind of poison at him before he simply shrugs. "..it's effective, clearly. well done." he mumbles, saying the last part hesitantly, refusing to look at the very proud smile on phoenix's face.
"words straight from mr. miles edgeworth's mouth. put it in writing." phoenix says with a sigh, making miles scoff. "the way you idolize me so much is rather concerning, wouldn't you say so?" "i find it as a challenge more than anything. so i'll make this wright 1, edgeworth 0." miles scoffs, finally looking over at phoenix as if he can't believe what he just said before shaking his head a bit. "i've been doing this quite a bit longer than you. i'd say that's at least something of a leg up." "that's because you haven't seen me work. it's not a win until i see you in court." miles' smile that he hadn't realized was there drops a bit, jaw tensing a bit; it hadn't occurred to him until now that there was the very likely occurrence the two of them would have to be the opposition for the other.
phoenix can't help sneaking a glance at miles: he only needs a second. he wasn't much different from when they were kids, hard features, same hair, that ever-present quirk of an eyebrow that he had inherited from his dad. it's like he's memorizing features he'd already seen before, his eyes trailing over his face and landing on his lips for only a second, looking away as if nothing was wrong. a beat of silence. miles only give phoenix a side long look, noting all the same things he'd also seen so long ago but that he somehow felt he'd forget if he didn't look at him right this second. the determined look that always seemed to be in phoenix's eyes no matter what, the hint of a smile that always ghosted over his lips. he can't help the small quirk of a smile on his face at phoenix's hair, still amusing to him to this day. that same feeling stirs inside of him again, causing his stomach to do flip flops and his throat to go dry. he looks away before phoenix can catch him, looking out onto the city again as vibrant as ever.
finally, miles clear his throat, knowing he can't stand here all night; a secret part of him doesn't want to go yet but he pushes it down instantly. "i should be going. i have some work to catch up on and court in the morning." miles mumbles, catching phoenix's attention. "oh, r-right. sorry for keeping you." he says, hands in his pockets and looking down at his feet. they don't look at each other as they both take a step back, the space around them suddenly cold without the immediate presence of the other. miles is going to leave without a word, leave things unsaid hanging over them yet again but he can't make his feet move no matter how hard he tries. "…don't stay out too late yourself. the prosecutor's office parties aren't good places to spend your night unless you have business to attend to." miles meets phoenix's eyes for one of the few times all night; phoenix's heart tightens a bit at the look he gets, less icy and more of..something else he can't quite recognize. "i'll keep that in mind." they're silent again. there's so much to say. they're just staring at each other. what are you thinking? just say it. "good night then." don't leave. not yet. please. miles gives phoenix a nod of departure before finally (not too quickly) turning to leave, hands tucked into the pockets of his coat. phoenix takes that as his sign to leave, walking a few steps before looking over his shoulder and met with miles' back slowly walking away. he turns back to make his trek back to the party, completely oblivious to the way mlies only takes a few steps before he reaches his car and watches phoenix walk away.

Note
hey hey, so trying my luck with the october request.
Since it's spooky time: halloween pumpkin carving date with they/them reader and Miroslava? I miss her. Maybe something like reader feeling jealous bc Miro spends so much time with Itsuki, not knowing that she just helps Miro planning a date she wants to ask the reader out to.
If I get in and you decide to write it: thank you so much!! <3
Carving Out Time
Miroslava Honebami x They/Them Reader
A/N: I just wanna say to the person who asked for that part two to Scholarships that I am sooo sorry it’s taking so long. I just can’t remember what happened in the manga enough to write out something without re-reading that part, but to find the energy to do it is not working out. And now sorry to this person, because now that I’m re-reading the prompt, I’m thinking this might’ve supposed to have been a first date situation and I messed up. Hope you still find it somewhat enjoyable? Sorry if the spacing is as weird to y’all as it looks to me, I’m posting this while in the car on a different device. Word Count: 1,384
“Good morning, Miro!” (Y/n) darted around the corner they had just seen their partner turn mere moments ago, somehow expecting to sneak up on her for a hug from behind, but of course, Miroslava was already staring over her shoulder, golden eyes boring right into (Y/n)’s the second they came into view.
“Good morning, (Y/n).” She replied a small, but genuine smile. “Did you sleep well last night?” She lightly ran a gloved finger over their cheek, “You look tired.”
“I’m just excited that it’s finally Friday.” They yawn. “You know how much I enjoy fall, and the leaves are just right so I’m really hype about spending time with you tonight!”
Miroslava winces almost imperceivably, but having a partner who regularly gambles and is getting better at reading her micro-expressions by the day, (Y/n) mood dampened.
“No way, you have plans? Again?”
Miroslava had been flaking on (Y/n) all week. Worse yet, it was always with Sumeragi Itsuki for some reason. Itsuki was fine, (Y/n) had no real problem with her, but to be put on the back burner for their partner to go off with her doing god knows what time after time made them feel more than a little jealous.
“Yes, (Y/n), I apologize, but I promise Saturday is all yours.”
“Can you at least tell me what you’re doing? Why can’t I come? I promise I’ll stay in the car this time if this has to do with the family “cleaning” business.”
Before Miroslava could confirm that it was not Bami related, Itsuki popped up looking all excited.
“Honebami-san, I got the—“ she noticed (Y/n) standing there and quickly switched gears, something (Y/n) caught and it made them uneasy. “(Y/n), hey! How are things?”
“Fine…” However, the tone (Y/n) was using was indicating that things were indeed not ‘fine’. Not when their partner was once again leaving them high and dry to hang out with the same person she had been hanging out with all week.
Both girls were quite aware of this and had the decency to look a little sheepish.
“So you’re hanging out with Sumeragi again today and I’m not allowed to hang around for a reason you keep neglecting to share with me?”
“I know it looks weird, but it’s nothing bad, I swear!” Itsuki promised.
“Yeah, I believed that excuse the first four times, but now I’m not so sure.”
Miroslava approached (Y/n), placing her hands on either side of (Y/n)’s face, staring deep into their eyes, “It will all become clear tomorrow. I’ll have a car drop by to pick you up. Can you hang on one more day, please, for me?”
(Y/n) tried to hold firm on their position on the matter, but the pure honesty Miroslava’s eyes held made it exceedingly difficult. Finally, they sighed,
“Alright, one more day.”
“Thank you.” Miroslava stroked their cheeks with her thumbs.
“It’s all going to be worth it, you’ll see!” Itsuki chimed in.
(Y/n) managed a small smile, but they still eyed the pair warily. Just what were they doing together that they weren’t allowed to be a part of, nor know about? They went through the rest of the day feeling uneasy, heart clenching jealously every time they would catch a glimpse of Itsuki and Miro throughout the day.
They couldn’t even enjoy the sweet goodbye Miroslava gave them after school that day because watching them leave school together in the same car while (Y/n) was left behind only made the uneasiness and jealousy grow.
They didn’t want to believe something was going on between Itsuki and Miroslava, because their Miro couldn’t possibly do something so distasteful, so heartbreaking, but the more time that passed by, the more the negative little voice in the back of their brain grew. They had another hard time sleeping that night, but not because they were excited about tomorrow, they were anxious for it.
***
They startled out of a stressful dream when their phone started to ring and they cursed when they took note of the time. They were supposed to be out the door almost half an hour ago and now Miro was calling them.
“Hi, sorry, sorry, I over slept. I’m getting out of bed right now.” They said a bit frantically, almost tripping in a tangle of covers.
“Take your time, darling. No need to worry, the driver won’t leave without you. As long as he doesn’t want to find himself at the bottom of the ocean, anyway. So just take your time, wear something comfy that fits the weather and I’ll see you soon.”
“Okay, sure, yeah, see you soon.” It was clear (Y/n) was still a bit frazzled as they began digging through their closet for something nice to wear.
“(Y/n), I love you, take your time. I mean it. It’s only fair after I asked you to be so patient this week.”
(Y/n) finally slowed their movements, heart melting at how confident Miroslava sounded when she said she loved them.
“I love you too, I’ll be there soon.”
“I’m looking forward to it. See you soon.”
“See you.”
They hung up and less frantically, but no less quickly, got ready to leave the house. They apologized to the driver for their tardiness and sat on the edge of their seat the entire drive to Miroslava’s house.
When the car slowed to a stop in front of the the lavish home, Miroslava was waiting outside in a cute cream colored sweater, sleek black leggings and cream ankle boots. She looked so pretty and comfy. (Y/n) couldn’t wait to hug her!
When they rolled up to the curb, Miroslava came up to (Y/n)’s door and opened it for them, extending her hand to help them out.
“Welcome, my love.” She kissed their cheek. “I’m glad you made it.”
They got a little dreamy look on their face and smiled, “Me too.”
“Come, there’s much to do.” Miroslava grabbed their hand and lead them through the house to the backyard.
“Wow…!” (Y/n) gasped, they marveled at the changes the backyard had underwent since they had last visited.
There were many cute decorations, but the highlight was probably the lattices decorated with orange, black and white fairy lights. There was a projector screen set up along the fence in front of the outdoor furniture, currently playing a Halloween baking show, but (Y/n) could also see an array of movies sitting nearby. The outdoor kitchenette smelled like cinnamon and sugar. On top of the granite countertop were a few pumpkins of varying size accompanied by an assortment of tools and snacks.
“What do you think? It’s not too much, is it? Itsuki assured me it was perfect, but you know I’m somewhat new to all of this…” Miroslava gestured to the set-up, a faint blush dusting her pale skin.
(Y/n) hugged her tightly. “It is perfect, this is really sweet, thank you so much. I’m sorry for giving you a hard time this week. If I had known…”
“I don’t mind, I can understand why you weren’t happy, I wasn’t happy with having to spend time away from you either. Perhaps next time I should at least tell you it’s a surprise for you instead of being completely tight-lipped.”
(Y/n) squeezed her a bit tighter, “I love you.”
Miroslava melted into the hug, holding them gently, “I love you too. Now, how about we carve some pumpkins?”
“Absolutely!”
They stood next to each other talking and carving the pumpkins while the projector flickered and whirred. When the pumpkins were all lined up and lit, they washed their hands and took a big bowl of snacks to the couch in front of the projector and cuddled beneath the soft and fuzzy throw blankets, stealing a few kisses here and there. Occasionally they’d look back at the row of glowing jack-o-lanterns and chuckle at the more misshapen ones. (Y/n) would have to make sure to thank Itsuki as well for this later.
Laying on the couch in a tangle of limbs and blankets while the leaves rustled overhead and the scents of autumn and candied apple slices wafted over them, (Y/n) began planning their own special date. The fall season wasn’t over yet after all, and the apple slice Miroslava just bit into gave them the perfect idea.

note— I know i said i'd post this on valentines (it's feb 17 now..) BUT i rlly didn't hv time to open tumblr bc of the packing homeworks school is alr giving us TT but here it is!!! I'm sorry if it looks rushed in a way.. And i wanted to give out like a serendipity feel to it anyway that's it and I'm sorry for delaying this fic <//3 Was also thinking of making a part two for this one cause I haven't done justice on their love story Omg
you along with your classmates didn't know what drew your adviser to host a game of secret santa, but with other classes.
Although at the same time you think it's a cute way to get to know the people from the other class, the thing is.. what do they even want as a present? you possibly can't just approach them and ask them what present they want to receive.
yeah, this game will definitely suck.
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
"I can't believeee the principal approved of this switched class secret santa or whatchamacallit." Your deskmate, Hanni Pham, whined, slouching forward, irritatingly slamming her cheeks on your shared desk. "Hey, It sounds kinda fun. I mean, the concept is pretty unique." Sim Jayoon replied who was sitting on the desk in front, turned her gaze to the both of you.
In all honesty, you were pretty neutral about the idea. Moreso on Yoon's side; she was right, it does sound a bit exciting, with such a different concept for secret santa and being a school transferee, you'll finally get to know other students in your school this way.
Yoon and Hanni’s gazes transferred to you, wanting to hear your perspective of the said exchange gift event for your annual christmas party. You started with a half shrug, “I sort of agree with Yoon, things like these do sound exciting.“ you let out a short and nervous laugh.
“See? Two versus one Hanni.” Yoon lets out a smug face as if it was a competition to feel triumphant on. Hanni only groaned as she glared at the girl with bangs, then moving her head to the other side.
“But how will this whole secret santa work? Like which class are we all gonna get paired to?” Hanni grumbled, still protesting for this concept of secret santa to move forward (even though choices were already made by school authority).
Before you and Yoon could answer her question, Naoi Rei came into the picture. cheerfully letting out a “ Hey guys! “ as she sits beside her seatmate, Yoon. You all greeted her back with the same yet idle “hey!”
Hanni finally raises her head up to check the girl in front of her. The curve on Rei’s lips never seemed to fade, figuring that she might have some things to say that would pique you and the girl's interest.
“I overheard Mrs. Jeon and Mrs. Yoon earlier talking about the secret santa thing…” Rei started, all of your ears perked up as if it was activated, ready to listen to everything that will come out next. Stories that involve advisers (especially your class’s adviser, Mrs. Jeon) are already intriguing to hear and you all thank Rei for being a part of your friend group and for having such a good source of gossip.
Rei slightly leaned forwards in which you three mirrored her move, waiting a few seconds for your friend to process her words.
“So.. okay. I heard our class, and their class are gonna be paired for the secret santa.” Yoon gasped at Rei’s statement while Hanni’s eyes only widened, and you? utterly confused.
How is this news? You thought to yourself, what is so shocking about these two classes colliding for the secret santa?
Yoon was repeatedly slapping your desk in excitement while Hanni was just frozen in place “I’m gonna see our class so desperate to get his name.” she lets out; and Rei was just giggling… but why? and who's he?
The three eventually noticed your clueless state, realizing you probably do not know anything about Mrs. Yoon’s class. Rei gave you a question regarding that class, shaking your head as a response.
“Girl.. Yang Jungwon is in that class.” Yoon replied, gently holding your arm as it rests on your desk.
“Yang Jung- who?” you raised a brow.
“Mister student council president.” Hanni lets out a short chuckle, glancing at Rei. You can only breathe out a long oh in response, even so, still unfamiliar with the boy mentioned.
Since your friends have talked about it like they were fangirls, he must be extremely popular… being the student council president after all.
Before your conversation escalates, you four immediately shifted your attention to the font noticing a sudden thud on the front door, knowing that your Teacher had already entered your classroom.
All of you stood up to welcome and greet your adviser, officially starting the homeroom hour for the day.
Much to you and your friends surprise, the news Rei announced about the classes to be paired with from secret santa were correct, hearing the mention of Mrs. Yoon's class later on. You were startled when some of your girl classmates gasped about the news, you swore that their excitement could almost be heard even outside your classroom, reaching the long corridors,
You didn’t know why you had only found out about his popularity today, even if you were friends with the student council secretary (Hanni Pham), you seem to not hear her, or any of your friends for that matter, mentioning the name Yang Jungwon until now.
You turn your head to your seatmate only to see her rolling her eyes and groaning at the fangirling session your class has started after the mention of Jungwon's name.
Your old school has popular students too, similar to this Jungwon person, although they had never made this kind of impact on a class before… This was completely new to you especially how can some normal students still get a whole hoard of students swooning over them?
“This school is weird.” You muttered at the thought. Hanni unknowingly catches your whispers, replying “Right.” which quickly caught you off guard.
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
You all were instructed to write your names on a small piece of paper and a wishlist on what you want to receive as a present. Your adviser gave you a good 5 minutes to write everything out and you were baffled to find the part where you write your wishlist to be difficult. You tap your pen at the surface of your desk, forming a rhythm as you intently gather your thoughts about things you want to receive as a present, although not one thing comes to mind.
You want to buy the things you desire with your own money, you wish to write something that isn’t too much of a hassle for the other to buy… and still none pops up in your mind.
You take small peaks at Hanni’s paper, she was writing something alright, and pretty focused too. You envy your seatmate for already knowing what she desires to get in 2 weeks, while you’re still stuck on a piece of paper that only has your name written on it.
You were too drowned in your thoughts only to see that the time had run up. It was time to fold your papers and place it on a tupperware box in order to finally switch with the other class.
You swiftly scribbled on your paper before your teacher passed by your desk; and to your relief you made it. Folding the paper and dropping it in the box at the same time as Hanni.
As your adviser leaves the class to pass the box, you, Hanni, and the two other girls seated in front of you let out their own sigh of relief. Yoon and Rei turn around to ask what you two wrote in your own wishlists.
“I just wanted a new set of highlighters and a computer mouse, what about you Y/n?”
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
“Surprise me,” Jungwon read out loud, “and nothing else.” He added, earning a perplexed face from Wonyoung. As if she hadn't heard the male right.
“There’s no way that person wrote that in their wishlist.” Wonyoung snatched the paper out of Jungwon's grip, squinting her eyes as if she’s gonna find anything else written in the paper.
“Yeah, good luck with that.” She intensely placed the paper back on the man’s desk, Jungwon only rolling his eyes at the girl sitting in front of him.
Wonyoung gasped at the attitude her friend just showed, “Look won, no one would want to trade secret santa’s with you with that wishlist.”
“I'm not willing to trade it anyway. I don't mind it to be honest.”
“Why not? Won’t it be hard for you?” she raised a brow.
“Might be difficult when I start to look for a present, although I don’t think I’m the only one who’s gonna find difficulties in finding me a present.”
Wonyoung only stared at the other, forehead creasing, “What do you mean— Won, what did you write on your wishlist?”
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
“Wow Y/n you got Jungwon?!” Hanni exclaimed, you immediately grip on her shoulders in an attempt to shut her up (it was reflex). Thankfully the two girls in front of you were the only ones who heard Hanni’s loud mouth and not your other classmates who were gushing about how desperately they would want to pick Jungwon's paper up. quickly turning their heads to you with a scheming grin on their faces.
“Jungwon?! Oh my god!” Yoon whisper shouted, placing her palm in front of you, quietly asking you to hand her the paper you had picked up from the box. You then absentmindedly placed the paper on her palm as your other hand was still tightly gripping your seatmate's shoulder. Yoon reading the paper in an instant, plastering a wide O expression being that it indeed has Jungwon’s name written.
Rei leaned her head beside her seatmate to take a look at the paper in Yoon’s grasp, both of them dropping an ambiguous reaction just for a small piece of paper with only the man's name written on it.
“Is there nothing else on here?” Rei quickly snatched the small paper from Yoon, eyeing the paper closer as if anything would pop up.
“Dumbass, of course there’s nothing. Do you see anything else besides his name?” Yoon retorts, flicking her forehead in an attempt for Rei's grip to loosen on the paper, immediately taking it back.
“That’s surprising… kind of,” Hanni joins in when you finally calmed down, letting go of your grasp on her shoulder. She idly placed her hands to her cheeks with her elbows resting on the desk. “Jungwon is known as someone who actually knows what he wants… Kinda shocking to see his paper being empty but his name though, I seem to give no care about it, good luck though.”
“Thanks… I mean, He’s probably not the only one who left his wishlist empty too.” You commented.
“What do you mean? You didn’t put anything in your wishlist either?” Rei tilted her head to the side, interested to hear your answer. “Technically I did, but it was just a simple surprise me.” you anxiously curl up the edges of your lips, a slight chuckle escaping beneath your breath. Hanni shrugged it off, it was expected for you to be unsure of what you want, especially having to think about it in a really short amount of time only to end up with absolutely nothing.
“Whoever got you to be their secret santa is in one hell of a ride…” Yoon uttered thrillingly.
“I think the same for myself too.” you remarked. You were internally inquisitively desperate in knowing who might have picked up the paper that has your name written on it, and also wonder what gift you’ll be receiving for the party that is now set in two weeks.
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
First week has already passed, meaning Jungwon is already preparing for a gift as your secret santa.
He underestimated it, assuming this would be easy; however, the thought of your reaction to anything Jungwon decides to give you started to bother him.
He is completely unfamiliar with you, he doesn't know you nor have seen you physically, having the verge of dying from impatiently waiting a week from now.
Jungwon remained alone in the student council office, since there were no requirements to submit, everyone stayed with their group of friends within the school.
He liked the fresh lone air of the office, he cherishes it so he never complains being alone.
Also, this is the best time to whine about anything and everything, especially what gift to give you for the upcoming party without anyone's judgment. Wonyoung is too dubious about the whole 'surprise me' Y/n paper and probably wouldn't help him settle for a decent gift.
This idea of secret santa sure is downright ass.
Jungwon continued to groan and complain, frustratingly pondering on whatever gifts to buy as he attentively notes all of his ideas on a spare page of his notebook.
Unbeknownst to him a Hanni Pham remains in her stand right beside the door as she watches the student council president fumingly write on a notebook with a fuming face.
"Uhh… president?" The soft voice coming from the girl startled Jungwon, gazing up to her figure in a heartbeat. He felt like he was caught doing something he wasn't supposed to, even though he was just writing.
Jungwon escaped a relieving sigh, halting himself from what he was doing. Hanni felt the sudden awkward air and wished she would've entered any time that isn't now. Oh how she wished to turn back time and be able to change her mind from opening this very door and backing him out of his trance.
"Yes, Hanni?" He calmly voiced out, acting as if he wasn't panicking 2 seconds ago.
"Can I hang out here?"
"Oh, sure. You didn't have to ask that."
Hanni slowly walled and took a seat a distance beside Jungwon, then idly slouched on the uncluttered table.
"What made you come here? You don't normally hang here in the student council office." Jungwon strikes up a conversation, attempting to tone down the fiddly atmosphere that was built a few minutes ago.
Hanni shrugged, "Eh, Yoon didn't show up to class, Rei and Y/n are cramming for homework that's due later so I decided to leave for them to focus on that… Basically I'm bored and friendless at the moment. I'm striving for interactions, Jungwon." From lightheadedness to being desperate in a matter of a few words shook Jungwon. He knew Hanni wasn't a huge extrovert, though she likes to chit chat especially with prople she's close with, so why is she approaching him?
"Why don't you just talk to your classmates then?"
"Because! I don't like any of my classmates except for Yoon, Rei, and Y/n! If I ever talk to any one of them they're just gonna start asking me about you, I mean— we're not even close?!"
Jungwon could only laugh in response, fond of the other's carefree and extremely straightforward personality.
"Not close? that's true and all but why did it kinda hurt." Jungwon jokes, placing his palm on his chest acting like his heart has pounded too hard to break at Hanni's rant.
"Oh you know I don't always hang around here except when it's important," Hanni crosses both of her fingers up "Bros always comes first."
The name Y/n had only just hit hard inside Jungwon's spindling brain, subtly reaching out for air as he internally debates with himself if asking you what to give Y/n was the best Idea. Jungwon really wanted you to cherish whatever he's gonna give, and he'll make sure of that.
"Anyway, enough about me. What're you doing? You seemed tense earlier when I walked in." Hanni leaned at the side, attempting to peek at the male's notebook she had caught him writing so focused on.
Jungwon felt a sweat dropping from his forehead, even though he looked completely flawless and unbothered in the other's view. Slowly moving his notebook out of Hanni's vision, causing her to let out a short groan.
"Come on, what is that?"
"Just… secret Santa stuff."
"Oh! You started picking gifts already? Who did you get? Wait, don't say it's me!"
"It's not you."
"Oh phew… I didn't get you either so you can say it to me."
That swift confession made Jungwon lose his thick walls, wanting to open up to Hanni about who he had picked for the event. Considering they're close friends, and also the person who's in the class who got paired with in his class. Maybe she would know what to buy for you that'll have you smiling for the rest of the night.
"So Hanni… don't tell anyone, okay?"
"Of course, My lips are sealed shut!"
Jungwon took a few seconds to process his choices, finalizing with the decision of seeking Hanni's help.
He held a deep breath, "I picked up Y/n's."
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
"Y/n… there's only 2 more days before the party and you still haven't thought about what gift to buy Jungwon?" Rei's eyebrows rose, Watching you stress out along with your two other friends.
"I keep telling her to finally start buying one but she always say It's too early." Hanni mocks your tone of voice, causing you to shoot a glare in her way.
"Look, after school we'll help you pick something for him so that you won't stress yourself sick anymore, sounds good?" Yoon offered. "No!—" you declined almost immediately after Yoon spoke, earning a few wide eyes from your three friends.
"I'm sorry— guys, I just prefer making my own decisions for this one." you reasoned, lowering your head as you huff out to ease your stressful state a bit.
"Wow Y/n, didn’t know you’d be taking this too seriously." Rei responds.
“Rei please, I think we all took it equally seriously, we don’t even know those people in the other class except for Jungwon.” Yoon boasted to her seatmate.
You huffed exasperatingly, "Of course I am Rei! I'm buying someone who I have completely no idea about; a gift!?" you lowered your head against your desk, escaping a whiny groan, feeling the heat of your breath fanning from the polished wooden surface of your desk.
"That’s fair. If you don't want our help, good luck then!" Hanni rooted, raising her fists above showing her support. “Oh and by the way, Jungwon likes jackets so do what you want to do with that information.” Hanni added, her hands gently transferring to patting your back.
You let out a “Thanks.” to at least show gratitude for their encouragement, a part inside you is dubious to be able to buy a gift before 2 days, you never even planned about what to give him.
After school would be a great challenge between you and your indecisiveness.
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
Jungwon finds himself wandering various stores in the mall while he indecisively asks vendors questions about a price of a certain product he won’t even end up purchasing.
He wasn’t seeking a present to give you, he had already bought you a week ago after gaining Hanni’s assistance with gift ideas. So why now, does he feel the need to add more to what he’s originally going to hand you in two days? Surely you might want more than a new year’s planner, right?
Right.
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
Truth be told, you did feel sort of regretted your bitterness denial after you have told them to back down with the help. Finding yourself internally panicking while roaming around the mall, a few minutes have passed after tentatively buying a hoodie. (taking note of what Hanni said, considering they knew each other.) The hoodie didn't feel as complete, not feeling the slightest satisfaction of giving it to him alone, and ought to give him more than that… and you will give more than that.
You searched around the entire mall and only ended up with more things than you expected, and much to your surprise, you haven’t spent a lot of your money.
Knowing that he is in the student council, you reckon he might want things more essential, similar to a set of colored pens, highlighters, new notebooks, the hoodie, and a few jewelry. It felt like it was too much albeit the budget wasted on; these purchases didn’t leave you satisfied, only having the man’s reaction to bother you for mornings and evenings up until the exact day of the party
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
“Jungwon! Our ride’s here!” Wonyoung yelled downstairs, Jungwon flabbergasted, inhaling the fact her voice can still be heard even at a far set of stairs. He quickly prepared himself before returning downstairs to take off with his friend, seeing Wonyoung already standing impatiently by their front door.
“Let’s go.” Jungwon breathed out, nodding intensely at the girl in front of him.
“Whatever, I would’ve left without you.” The girl scoffs, idly exiting Jungwon’s home walking to their ride which was the car of Jungwon’s sweet sister.
Wonyoung turned around to the male, “Oh and your sister said to lock the door.”
“I don’t have any keys with me— oh.” His eyes widened with his fast reflex when Wonyoung threw the keys at him out of nowhere. “Nice.” Wonyoung remarked, then turned back to board their ride that was parked in front of his house.
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
“Thanks for helping me out with preparing the room Y/n!” Yoon cheerfully thanked with a wide smile plastered on her face, her eyes smiling in the process. You mirrored her jolly expression as you handed her another wide lace of garland, which Yoon took in an instant and carefully placed it at the front ceiling.
“No problem, class treasurer.” You teased, a smirk ghosting your lips. Yoon only laughed in response as you then handed her a large ribbon. “Rei and Hanni are taking a while to come by, no?” You asked, genuine cluelessness in your tone.
“Oh please, they’re probably having an outfit crisis.”
“Just for a class party? Well, that doesn’t seem so surprising now.” You both let out a soft giggle, silence taking over the both of you to focus on the decorating.
A few minutes passed by, you, Yoon, and a few of your classmates had already finished decorating the room, and the time left before the actual party started was farther than you expected. Satisfied with the finished result of the newly festive decorated classroom, you then took a seat on a random desk at the side to check on your gift that you hid under the compartment, thankfully it remained there.
It wasn’t a huge bag, it was averagely small, having the jacket folded neatly and all the other gifts fitted in that paper bag. You could feel your anxiousness crawling up to your system, giving you dazed thoughts. Now’s the day you get to give him your gift, you don’t know what he’s like, you never asked Hanni about his everyday demeanor since that never gathered in your thoughts for the last two weeks, and most importantly you don’t know what he wants as a present. (excluding the hoodie.)
You spent a few minutes trapped in your thoughts, unaware that some of your classmates had already arrived.
“Y/n!” Rei gleefully greeted, sitting beside you and completely backing you out of your trance. You only hummed absentmindedly as you process the current state of your class.
Everyone is already here.
“What’s that? Wait let me guess… Jungwon’s?”
“Yeah, Jungwon’s.” you let out, Rei noticed the discomposure lingering in your voice while you fiddle the handle of the paper bag you were holding, causing a state of worry to enter her.
“Hey, I’m sure he’s gonna love whatever it is in there,” Rei pouted, shifting her hand around your shoulder in order for you to lessen your build up tension.
“I don’t think he’d show a nasty reaction to it, I bet he has a kind heart.”
You were sincerely grateful for Rei’s words, her intention of calming your heartbeat actually worked. Though another thought had hit you, about why Rei and the others didn’t feel the same nervousness you were feeling right at this moment.
"Thanks Rei, but that's not the only thing I'm worried about…"
Rei tilted her head for a better view of your state, "Okay yeah, our classmates may get jealous but don't worry about them."
"Rei…"
"Okay sorry. What is it that's also bothering you?"
"I know nothing about him."
"Oh pfft— we all don't know who the person we got. You're not the only one bothered by that thought." Rei laughed, transferring her hand on top of you, patting your head. "Don't let that anxiousness take a toll on this fun day, you don't want to go home with just this gift thing overtaking your head, right?" Rei added, slowly taking the paper bag then placing it on the compartment under the desk you both were sitting on.
You raise your chin to see Yoon and Hanni preparing to MC the party, meeting gazes with Yoon, the girl at a distance beaming endearingly waving the both of you to walk towards them.
Your eyes softened by the quick gentle hit of realization; all thanks to your best friend slash classmate Naoi Rei.
"You're right," You jumped out of your seat, causing Rei to do the same. "Let's go!" You sang, jogging your way to Yoon and Hanni.
Rei was right, why would you be extremely stressed about a secret santa gift? Is it because Jungwon is basically a high demand in your school? Maybe. But he's a human being, you can worry about his reaction later. What matters right now is to have fun for yourself.
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
"Come on guys! 7 members in 2 groups, who dares to participate!" Wonyoung cheerfully asked through the mic, almost all of your classmates raising their hands, making her eyes widened in surprise. Jungwon only laughed in response, discussing shortly with her co-MC that he'll pick the members for the second group while hers is the 1st group.
Their Christmas party was going smoothly and actually started to be more enjoyable. Jungwon had a nice relationship with all of his classmates, causing all of them to get along so well, feeling as if everyone were close friends. Maybe this is what made it cherishing, the chemistry of the class, the relationship to one another. Jungwon's eyes sparkled as Wonyoung, now leading and hosting the first game for today's party, without the need of Jungwon’s hosting, he proceeded to sit by the side watching chaos unfold at the center of the classroom.
"Hey Jungwon, is this yours?" his classmate, Kim Sheon asked while holding a large paper bag with a cute valentines teddy bear printed on it.
"Oh yeah that's mine," Jungwon continuously nodded as the girl handed him the paper bag. "thank you Sheon!"
"You should watch where you put things next time, president." the girl advised before taking a few steps away towards the other end of the room, returning to her group of friends.
He stares at her with delight, his mind completely going back to reality knowing that the paper bag she had handed him was your christmas present. His mind suddenly hazed to a frenzy as he quickly searched the inside of the paper bag and much to his relief, everything were still there.
His thoughts then switched about the gift giving later on. It's a shame that he has to shout your name out loud in order to find you by the time your classes collide to give each other gifts. He has done it a lot before (shouting at delinquents) but doing it to someone who's technically a total stranger to him and probably harmless felt hilariously strange.
He gets to brush this thought later on, reckon that he might just be thinking anything to make him more anxious than he was a few hours ago before leaving his home. Besides, you are considered best friends with Hanni (her words), and he didn't want to underestimate that. With Hanni's adorably bubbly approach would make him assume you might just be the same as her.
Then again, everything's only an assumption.
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
People were already feasting on the homemade goodies your classmates had prepared or bought for everyone to eat. You ate with Rei, Sullyoon and Ni-ki since the other two were too busy organizing the event and the class exchange gift collision soon. The merry festive set of the classroom had made you giddy and so was interacting with your classmates, all of them feeling much the same.
You were chatting with Rei, Sullyoon and Ni-ki until you felt a grumble on your stomach that made you want to excuse yourself for a while.
Thankfully your friends didn't mind, so you stormed off hoping that this isn't an internal attack you expect it to be.
After a few minutes in the comfort room, you walked out, clashing a rough figure bumping into you, flinching at the hard feeling of meeting his body.
"Oh I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" He instantaneously apologized, you subtly move your head up and down, eyes glued on the man swiftly bowing at you.
You waved your hands frantically, showing a nervous expression, telling him that it was okay.
"No, it's not your fault. You wouldn't see me coming at all!" He stammered, you could see from his expression that he felt sort of resentment.
"Well, you didn't see me coming out of the bathroom either, so don't feel so bad now…"
You didn't even have any injuries from that, so it was quite adorable to see him continuously apologizing as if what he did was downright unlawful.
"Anyway, I should probably go back to my party now, I'm sorry again!" You waved at him once more, tracing the smile on your eyes as you walked away towards your classroom, your destination wasn't a far distance so the man could still see your figure entering the said room.
The moment your figure disappeared, was when Jungwon suddenly wondered why he was out walking in the first place. Completely forgetting his task by the time he bumped into you.
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
You, Sullyoon, and Ni-ki were having a common interest conversation while Rei excused herself after getting called by your other classmates.
You turn your head to check the whole classroom and how everyone is getting along so well, including with people you unexpectedly enjoyed interacting with such as the people you're talking to right now.
You see Yoon and Hanni talking to your class president, Kim Siyoon, at the very side of the classroom, just beside the door, Your president who might be asking them to announce something, since it's been minutes since everyone had already finished consuming the party goods
By the time your gaze goes back to Ni-ki and Sullyoon, a "Hello everyone!" from Yoon.
Everyone went quiet as their attention transferred to the three people beside the door asking if everyone already finished their meals.
Everyone shouted a loud YES!! (including you) and you felt your heart melt as you saw Yoon's gummy smile plastered on her face by the energetic response.
"So that officially concludes the party… but before that! Let's all get our Christmas presents and it's time to exchange gifts!! After you get your presents, you can all freely enter Mrs. Yoon's classroom, two classrooms down the hall on the right, at room 2-1."
Everyone rapidly made their way to pick up their respective gifts and immediately walked out of the classroom, alongside Sullyoon and Ni-ki who you're sure were just beside you moments before.
Yoon's figure walks near your seat. "You really can't tell if they wanted to see Jungwon or the people they got for secret santa." The woman in front of you chuckled, placing her hand under the desk compartment you were sitting on in order to find the gift she had hid there.
"Aha!" Yoon lets out, grasping a cute, medium-sized, yellow wrapped box.
"Come on Y/n, let's go," Your brows narrowed, questioningly staring at the girl due to her invitation.
"Hanni and Rei already made their way there, so come on."
tilting your head to the side seeing only nothing but an empty space, excluding you and Yoon.
You took off your seat hoisting up the rope handle of the paper bag filled with gifts.
Yoon nodded at you, silently asking if you were ready to go; and before you could respond to her a sudden pst came from Siyoon who opened the door.
"Good thing you guys are still here, can one of you help me bring something to the faculty?" Siyoon asked timidly, her worried expression impulsively pulled you to volunteer on assisting your class president. Telling Yoon to go on without her which she obliged, leaving the room the same as you do, heading in the opposite direction on the hall.
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
Jungwon’s eyes set to their crowded classroom, everyone mingling and interacting all so joyfully, however everyone was already occupied giving gifts to the people they have gotten. It was chaos yet everyone seemed to get along considering this is the first time these two classes collided like this. Jungwon's eyes sparkled as he saw the classroom more alive than ever, an ecstatic Wonyoung jumping beside him backed him out of his mesmerized eyes.
"Look what my secret Santa got me," Shimmying as she wore a fur blaser, holding a leopard print purse, "It's so cute dont'cha think?" She squealed, darting off, not even bothered to wait for her best friend to answer her question. Jungwon only stared into a void, dumbfounded by what had just happened.
Jungwon didn't bother to shout your name since people were already leaving the classroom to go home or hang out outside school grounds, which was reasonable though what concerned Jungwon was your absence. He decided to wait a bit in the classroom in hopes of someone showing up with a clueless face similar to him, though a few minutes felt like hours when Jungwon slowly witnessed half of the students that bustled their classroom slowly leaving one-by-one.
He had an urge to ask your friend, Hanni, who was talking to two other girls(Yoon and Rei) in a circle. Though Jungwon slid the idea off and kept waiting, although unaware, Hanni already was giving secret glances at his lonely figure whilst his point finger held a paper bag for what she assumed to be his christmas present. Hanni excused herself for a moment to approach him, leaning backwards on the desk he was sitting on.
"Is Y/n not here yet? Yoon said she helped Siyoon— our class president by the way, in the faculty, she might still be there." The girl explained, causing a tedious reaction on the boy.
Realizing that he was stuck in a trance, Hanni didn't hesitate on gripping his shoulders, shaking him back to reality, which worked.
"Huh?— what?!— huh?!" Jungwon lifted his head, eyes widening when greeted by the girl who had just returned to his state of mind in the real world.
"Three words: Y/n. Faculty. Go." Were Hanni's last words before returning back to her circle of friends, eventually exiting the classroom.
Jungwon took a few seconds to process Hanni's words before storming out, heading to the very room the girl had mentioned to him directly a few minutes back.
Sensing his impatience was unlikely, he reckons himself to be very patient yet he felt irritated having to wait that long. Though he couldn't possibly blame you, you only wanted to help your class president, so then again, he slides these feelings off.
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
"Thanks girls, have a nice Christmas vacation!" One of the faculty members sweetly reminded the both of you, after that you two bid your farewells and as the door closes from the faculty, the both of you sprinted to Mrs. Yoon's classroom like the tomorrow is about to br erased. In a race to finally hand out their presents.
When both of you arrived at the classroom, there were only two people waiting, and none of them was waiting for you.
One of them being Siyoon's secret santa and one of them being the ones to have her as their secret santa.
You quietly watched them exchange their gifts, eyes furrowed at the three people who were only left at Mrs Yoon's classroom and no one else.
You only assumed that one of them is this Jungwon person, it really bums you for being the only person who's unfamiliarized with the person you're handing out your present to.
"Hey guys can I ask where Yang Jungwon is?" You reluctantly took a few steps towards the three, though much to your dismay, they had no idea where Jungwon went, confirming for you that one of them is not jungwon.
You only breathed out an "Oh okay." in response, nodding vigorously before setting yourself to get some fresh air as you lean backwards on a desk that was placed to the side of the room. You grasp your phone, unfortunately having 5% battery, you only dared to check your messages to see anything new, and seeing a notification pop up on your group chat with the four girls saying that they all were just at a 7/11 across the street and will be waiting for you there and replied with a like emoji, turning it off after doing so.
A few minutes had passed, the three students (Siyoon included) had already left the classroom, which now leaves you the only person inside, waiting to hand out your present.
Your paper bag felt heavy, you were dying to give this to him already and get out, you don't even care about receiving yours anymore, you just wanted to get this present out of your grasp.
A few minutes and for what it felt like hours of waiting, you couldn't stop yourself from dozing, having no more control on keeping your heavy eyelids up anymore, you wanted to keep awake, though you couldn't.
A part of you already accepted the fact that Jungwon might not be showing up, you originally wanted to just get this over with yet right now you just want to meet your friends outside already.
And so that is what you did.
Indolently making steps towards the door, reluctantly gripping on the cold metal handle, pulling the door then swiftly taking a huge step beyond the door only for someone to suddenly clash onto you to the point you fell down hard to the ground, groaning by the bruised feeling that stinged your bottom.
"Oh my god I'm so sorry— " The man stopped, blinking as he continued to examine your figure. You only looked up at him, having the inability to get yourself up.
"again. I am so sorry again." He guiltily uttered, crouching down, his arms tightly holding your wrist in order to assist you to stand.
Your eyes still glued to his face as he helps you up, attempting to remember his familiar features and a few seconds is what finally hits you.
He was the person who previously bumped onto you… What are the odds for the same thing to happen again?
"It's alright.." It wasn't. It was honestly, excruciatingly painful, knowing that he bumped onto you whilst he was sprinting rapidly towards you and having to heavily meet your frame at the exact same coordinate at the exact same time.
"I should really start being careful whenever I exit a room." You joked, wanting to end the awkward air about to build up between you and the man you had just bumped into.
"Yeah, sorry again… I was just searching for this person so that I can finally give my present to them, her friend told me they were in the faculty but when I got there Mrs. Yoon already said they were gone, and now I'm back here." the man stated, your eyes suddenly feeling awake at the other's words.
"Oh, I was just at the faculty… Who did you get?"
"Uhm… Y/n."
You escape a long sigh, in a relief to have finally found your secret santa. You would've figured it out the second you have bumped onto, "I'm Y/n!"
Jungwon's eyes sparkled, exhaling the same air though slightly tired from the running earlier, considering the faculty was 3 more floors more up, an exceptionally understandable state.
"Oh thank god finally… here you go." He handed out a cute printed paper bag, in which you slowly transferred to your grasp, dubious if you were going to open it now or open it when you leave.
You examined his tired figure head to chest, uncertain of what to do next.
"Can we go inside for you to open your present?"
"Oh, you want me to open my present in front of you..?"
"Yeah, since you didn't add a wish list and all. I wanted to see if you're surprised," He grinned,
"Also I need to sit down, I feel like passing out anytime soon." He added, you could still see his chest pounding from the tiring run.
It would be out of place to open gifts here in the hallway anyway, so you happily obliged, taking a few steps back returning to their classroom.
⊹₊┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ୨୧ㆍ┈ㆍ┈ㆍ┈₊⊹
you and the other seated at a desk beside the window, having the sunlight ray refract through the transparent window of the 3rd floor classroom. The conspicuous sight of the buildings and the school field alluring a smile to creep up on Jungwon's face.
He admires the view behind him as you gently rummage through the paper bag. "Wow." You remarked, shocked about the amount of things he had bought you.
Your grip was on a cotton fabric cloth folded inside, pulling out of the bag and expanding it widely to reveal a funky white and blue jacket with a few sticker designs. It was adorable and it fits your taste. Jungwon's attention darted to you when he heard a breathy gasp coming from you, witnessing your eyes sparkling as you gaze at the jacket for too long.
"So… Do you like it?" Jungwon's brows knit as he sees your baffled state, you couldn't speak your happiness out just yet so you silently nod as you examine the jacket more.
"Yang Jungwon, you have such a nice taste in terms of designs. This is amazing!" You praised, earning a bashful laugh from the man.
When you were done admiring the jacket, you then folded it and gently put it on your side to check more things inside the paper bag.
"Wow, you bought me a lot— Oh my god! " You joyfully yell in surprise as your eyes lay on a planner journal. "I was planning on buying this after new years?!"
"I didn't feel content with giving you just the planner so I bought you… some school supplies, a jacket, and that planner."
You felt your heart giddy up from the man's statement, noticing the curve on your lips that wouldn't fade anytime soon. You couldn't tell if you find his visage absolutely adorable or the fact that he's shy about his gifts.
"Are you saying that you never originally planned on getting me that freakishly cute jacket?!"
"Yeah…"
The said gifts were simple, yes. Though very essential to your everyday school life; 2 sets of colored pens, 3 notebook journals with amazing paper quality, and a jacket that is an absolute eye candy.
"Still don't know what I got though." The other sighed, shifting your view on his somewhat upsetting state. Your eyes softed alongside the curve on your lips that were slowly dropping. You suddenly remembered your Christmas present that hasn't been handed out yet, already reaching to the assumption that the man beside you has you as his secret santa.
It has almost been for what you felt like an hour since you waited in a classroom that wasn't even yours, meaning everyone must have already sent and received their respective gifts including your three friends that are currently (and hopefully patiently) waiting for you outside school territory.
After thanking the man merrily, you then handed your paper bag. Jungwon only darted his gaze cluelessly to you and back to the bag.
"I'm assuming you're Yang Jungwon?" you raised a brow, forming a grin having a confident gut feeling deep inside that you might actually be his secret Santa.
Jungwon almost jumped from the desk you two were sitting on, almost grumbling you out of it.
Well, he is indeed, Yang Jungwon.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?!" His eyes twinkled when he made contact with the paper surface of the bag. His heart was pounding due to the rush of excitement overtaking his system.
"I didn't know who you were so I just kinda… kept it, until now of course." You bashfully stated, Jungwon felt a sudden shock when he heard it right that You were never familiarized with him. Considering the amount of admirers he has from your class, this was something he was sort of surprised about.
Jungwon glanced at you before darting to his goodies. Feeling the same cloth inside the bag, he pulled it out, expanded to see an oversized mocha hoodie that absolutely fit to his taste.
"So pretty.." He lets out subconsciously, his eyes drowning in absolute awe as the hoodie lays before him, causing your cheeks to heat up by the indirect compliment.
Putting the hoodie beside him, he rummages deeply in the bag knowing there was more than just the hoodie.
"Same as your gift idea, I bought something for comfort and school supplies. But those are sets of highlighters and cute notebooks I found at a stationary store… It's not much but it's what fitted in my budget so—"
"I love all of these," You raise your head, your eyes meeting the beaming Yang Jungwon. There was a sudden pang! that penetrated your chest, his smile was indescribable… way more above the word adorable.
"Thank you."
Your eyes locked onto each other, the smile forming on his eyes kept you from viewing more of the galaxy that illuminated his hues.
The same would be said in Jungwon's view. He was starstruck. Apprehended by how the sunlight could perfectly catch the best part of your face.
You were probably the last best view Jungwon had to witness before the end of this year.
"Thank you too… At Least I got something that I can use." You chuckled, placing back all of your received gifts in the paper bag, Jungwon copying your actions.
After neating yourselves, you wanted more to talk with the man, considering you two were the only ones left in the classroom, probably no more company waiting outside, and you magically got attached to him, having to understand why he's so famous amongst the entirety of the school.
As you were about to open your mouth to speak, a girl suddenly barges in the door. "Y/n!— Oh, hey Jungwon…" Hanni's tone pitched down as she saw you beside the male, completely changing her demeanor. "Sorry if I'm interrupting anything, though Y/n really needs to go like, now."
"Oh yeah uhm!— we just finished actually… opening up our gifts," Jungwon nervously blurted, "And I needed to go now too anyway… Too bad we didn't talk that much."
"Then maybe we should!" You ecstatically advised, earning a surprised beam from the male.
"Then we will… So let's hang out once classes start again." He whispered, not reaching your friend's medium.
"Would love to." You muttered, sucking your lip in an attempt to conceal a wide smile.
Jungwon only nodded in response, taking a few steps towards the door, meeting Hanni's figure. He waved her goodbye, Hanni then obligingly moved aside for Jungwon to have a space to walk out on. You only watched him disappear, slightly upset that your interaction with him didn't last long. Though he did say you two would talk again, so hopefully he sticks to his words since it has already sticked yours like glue.
As Jungwon walked past their room, Hanni then turned to look at you with a wide smile on her face, and you have completely read her mind.
"Don't ask anything." You started, sluggishly walking towards her with a visible grin plastered on your face. It was evident that your mind was filled with Jungwon, even if you were denying it.
Hanni is definitely expecting something to happen between you and Jungwon, though that's something you both should figure out yourselves.
You exit school grounds with Hanni, proceeding to meet up with the rest of your friends to spend the rest of the day with each other before Christmas break starts.

BONUS:
Student Council Office, 2:32 PM
Treasurer, Sim Jaeyun, Secretary, Pham Hanni, Vice President, Jeon Somi, and President, Yang Jungwon all gathered in the student council office for an unexpected paperwork. It wasn't much of a hassle to do since it was only a few papers each member had to examine and sign although it still left the president clueless on why it was required to have everyone here when 2 people can still nail the job with no problem.
Besides that now, while doing their busy tasks, Hanni, who was sitting beside the president, catched her eye on the same hoodie Jungwon is wearing, noticing how he has it on almost everyday.
"Jungwon." Hanni sternly called out, Jungwon hummed in response, eyes glued to the papers though his attention paid on Hanni.
"Is that the hoodie Y/n got you a month ago before christmas break?"
"You mean Christmas party?"
"Yeah."
"Then yeah, it is."
Hanni's forehead creased, eyes squinting at the man a distance beside as he continued with his tasks. Her mind trailed off as to why he's so attached to it so much, might be because of how she overheard your warm conversation with the man while you two hung out and gushed about your presents inside Mrs. Yoon's classroom after the Christmas party.
Hanni thought it was adorable that you two got along, although… By the time classes resumed you and Jungwon had been majorly closer than before.
Eating lunch together more frequently, you had to straightforwardly excuse yourself to Yoon, Rei, and her saying you planned on eating lunch with Jungwon for like 4 executive days.
The girls didn't have a problem with the beginning of your love story arc, they think it's cute that you finally step out of your shell and hang out with someone more trustworthy as Yang Jungwon.
Though it does get pretty tiring always having no time to hang out with you anymore…
Hoisting herself back to the cluttered office, everyone quietly working and the aroma of coffee fills the whole room. Her eyes lay on the busy president once again.
"You've been wearing that for a week." Hanni recalled. Yes. He has been wearing that ever since classes resumed, having a nasty assumption about the supposedly 'neat' Yang Jungwon.
"Yes..?" Jungwon's gaze darted to the secretary, forehead creasing irritatingly due to the eerie behavior the other was giving out.
"Of course if you're wearing Y/n's gift, Y/n is wearing yours too at the same time. Literally."
Jungwon could sense the side eyes coming from their seniors in the room, glancing at their Vice president, Somi who was smirking as she signed her papers.
"We both just like the jacket, It doesn't have to mean anything—"
A phone suddenly rang aloud. Jungwon hitting the realization that it was his phone that had just made an extremely loud noise, he hoisted it in his grasp in a heartbeat, checking if his hunch of a notification was correct.
The noticeable transition of his expression from dull to a grinning mess as he saw the message caught Hanni's attention, more especially when Jungwon excused himself for a minute to fetch something in which the girl did not buy.
"Where are you going?"
"To… Y/n— Look— I just need to give them something, they're waiting outside right now so I better get going. I'll get back soon I promise!"
That is when everyone in that damn room knew that you both are definitely at the first stage of falling in love.

It was still strange for Adam to wake up in the king's bed and seriously, who could blame him? But in all honesty, he was rather waking up in Lucifer's arms than elsewhere, not that he'd ever admit it out loud, oh fuck no.
So when Adam woke up because a white, soft feather was tickling his nose he couldn't even be mad. He was laying on his side, the devil himself was curled up against him, the smaller man's face buried deep in Adam's chest as his six white wings were covering them like a soft blanket made out of feathers. The first man held back a sneeze and chuckled softly when Lucifer grumbled something inaudible against his chest.
Who would've thought that the devil himself would make him go soft? He surely didn't and he was convicted neither did God. But here he was, cuddling with the man he had hated the most. But that was in the past. Adam rested his chin on Lucifer’s head, the blonde hair felt so silky against his skin, almost like it had been made for Adam to bury his face in it. “Lucifer,” Adam mumbled tiredly as he pulled the smaller man a little closer to his chest. The devil just hummed in acknowledgement, not moving the slightest bit, he was really just enjoying having Adam near him. “Can’t we tell that bit-,” Adam quickly interrupted himself, settling for a different choice of words, “Can’t we tell Charlie that we're sick ‘n’ stay here for today?”
Lucifer gave Adam's hip a soft part to let the taller man know he was improving quite well and that he approached Adam for not calling Charlie a bitch. “Think we can do that,” the devil mumbled sleepily against Adam's warm skin and with that the blonde went back to sleep. Adam couldn't help but grin as he reached for his phone to text Charlie the change of plans.
He'd live without seeing the other bitches for one day, and a day off when it came to Charlie's bonding exercises was desperately needed anyways. Once the text was sent, he put his phone away and went back to sleep with Lucifer curled up against him.
The devil made falling asleep so much easier.

My partner and I celebrated our 20th anniversary together last month. A few people asked me the ole “what’s you’re secret?” question and it’s made me think about this topic a bunch lately.
(First, a disclaimer. I don’t think monogamy is a superior way to approach life, it’s just worked well for us and people seem interested in what it’s like to experience it this long so this is only me speaking to my firsthand knowledge.)
You ready for mind blowing wisdom? The truth is that the largest element of longevity in a relationship is luck 😂 I mean, I could tell you healthy relationship tips, of course. We were so young when we stumbled into our relationship that we made a ton of mistakes and have learned and grown, thankfully. But the single largest factor to our “success*” is that nothing arose that split us up. Along the way a few of our friends sometimes broke up because there was abuse or betrayal present, sure. But the MUCH MORE common reasons? No one was “at fault.” Life just took them different directions. One partner wants kids, the other doesn’t. One partner wants to move cross country, the other doesn’t. They survive a shared trauma that’s too much to move past. Attraction wanes. Shared interests wane. Values change. Life goals change. Pressures of family interference get in the way. Feelings change. One partner discovers a new interest, religion, or career path that becomes a deal breaker.
Basically, people change and that’s all luck stuff, folks. Like those things didn’t happen to me largely just because they didn’t happen to me 🤷‍♀️ There’s lots of enthusiastic commitment over here, but no magic ingredients. My partner wanted to move cross country and I was down for a huge change mostly bc my previously beloved job had ended up burning me out bad. When we were 20 we had daydreamed together about our kids someday. Then at like 34 I finally admitted to myself I never wanna be pregnant like never ever and SURPRISE LUCK! My husband is even more childfree-life-oriented now than me. What if he kept his original interest in having biological children?
Who the hell could ever predict how to grow together in continuously compatible ways? Basically, you can’t. Sometimes when I think about how terrifying it is that life is extremely random and out of our control, I also decide to feel comforted that this shit IS all just random and out of our control.
(Closing disclaimer: stuff like treating your partner with an enormous amount of respect, addressing conflict in direct and healthy ways, honesty, respecting boundaries, and being their biggest fucking cheerleader are all very controllable but this post isn’t about that. See my “healthy relationships” tag for various things like THAT.)

Can i ask you about your OC Kate?
Where did your inspo for her character come from? Does she represent anything about yourself?
I really love your fic. I think it’s an interesting approach to Arthur’s character to explore the parental guilt he has for what happened to Eliza and Isaac. And I love the way you do that by introducing a character that’s pretty much a mirror of himself, but under different circumstances. And she has broken the cycle already. Her backstory literally gave me chills when I read it. You have a great way of adding so much detail in such a short amount of words! I really look forward to each chapter :)))
AHH OF COURSE YOU CAN!!!! 💗♥️💜
Ty Ty Ty for asking it means so much to me when you guys ask question/give feedback/leave comments on my work. I’m so serious it literally brightens my day.
I wish this wasn’t anon so I can thank you properly, but please DM me and if you want I will add you to the tags for the next chapters!!
I’m so ready to dive into the Kate McCanon lore, I’m sorry if I get carried away:
I can’t really take any credit for her name. It’s from a Colter Wall song called “Kate McCanon”, but her character is nothing like the woman he’s singing about. I just really loved the name tbh. (And I’m a big fan of his music)
As far as my inspo for her character traits, they kinda just developed over time. I began forming ideas of her as I played rdr2 for the first time, at first I kinda pictured myself in the time period and how I would respond/react to certain events. Then as the story progressed I was like hm, I would definitely be dead by now if this was me. So i made someone stronger but also kept certain aspects like her humor, sarcasm, honesty, intelligence and kindness that I think are sorta reflection of myself.
In a nutshell, the Kate we see with Arthur and the gang is a free spirited tomboy who fully embraces the freedom and possibilities of life in the west and she also defies the gender stereotypes of that time period.
However, the lack of description of Kates appearance was entirely on purpose. I dropped little snippets of her looks at the beginning such as her height and size. (She’s a big woman) But tbh i didn’t want the focus of the story to be on what she looked like or what she was wearing. I purposely mentioned she is half Italian on her mothers side, (bc that will come up again later in the story for the plot) but I also wanted you guys to picture her however you felt was right. In my mind, she is a woman who appears intimidating but once you get to know her she’s a total sweetheart (much like Arthur hehe)
One of the reasons why I choose to keep Kate out of most missions is because she genuinely wants to be done with hurting people. She gave that life up and vowed to do better. Only when she’s pushed and survival is at stake do we see her break that promise. It’s almost ironic considering she is with a gang of outlaws, but like the girls, and Arthur too, she sees them as just people trying to get by. When she meets Jack and Abigail she sees a future dangling on a thread, and decides that if there’s something good she can do here. Then it’s going to be helping that family escape this life. Falling in love with Arthur just happens to be a bonus ;)
I had always intended to give Kate a traumatic backstory (sorry girlie). It started with her family, I wrote out an entire detailed timeline of her life. With names and dates and even random life events that will never make it in the story. But it helped me so much with building her background. It made her feel more real to me. I did so much research on the time period and what Boston was like in the 1800s. Even though I didn’t go into grave detail about her childhood or the death of her family members. But by doing so, it made it easier for me to write about that hopelessness and vulnerability she felt when she finally lost everything.
I chose to open the story with her burying her husband and child because (spoiler alert, but not really if you’ve been actively reading) that is the tie that links her soul with Arthur’s. Even though she does not blame herself for their deaths, it’s something that is engraved into the very being of her identity. And it pretty much dictates the person she becomes throughout the story.
When Kate is captured and taken to a military fort, that is where her “rock bottom” hits its “peak” so to speak. She has nothing left to lose at this point but herself. And in a way, she does lose herself. River is a character I hold very dear to me. And i might write a small spin off about him and Kate in the future. He was a reflection of what Kate would have become if she did not make a change. At first, he was her hope. But when his family met the same fate as hers, he became consumed by the darkness and rage. And unfortunately, she was in a state where Rivers anger nurtured her own. (I want to make it clear River is not a villain, he’s a victim)
I do kinda regret not exploring their relationship more in the chapter. But tbh it probably wouldn’t have added anything. However, I will say the two of them pretty much trauma bonded. They loved each other deeply, but not really in a romantic sense. River offered to marry her, but it was more out of “you are the only one i have left” kind of way. He was never going to give up that life and settle down again, getting married to Kate would just be a way to seal their relationship and vow to stand by each other till the very end. (Does this kinda mirror Arthur/Mary? That might be a reach idk)
All in all, I wanted to give Arthur someone who already understands him, but doesn’t know it yet. Someone that he doesn’t need to explain himself to because Kate has already been there. Arthur knows he’s a bad man, and he knows Kate has been a bad woman. He believes he is beyond saving, beyond redemption. But Kate sees someone who can be saved, he just need the support to do it.
I’ve been trying to plant the seeds over time that Kate truly misses being a mother, and feels robbed of the life she should be living. Raising her daughter. Jacks character has helped me manifest that in the story a lot. Especially that first kiss scene. Kate longs for a family. But she’s pretty much convinced herself that she will never have one again. So by helping the Marstons it alleviates some of that yearning. Arthur believes he has failed as a father, but what Kate sees is the potential for him to be a very loving parent. And it makes her head dizzy with adoration. (There will be many more tender moments with Jack/Arthur/Kate in the future btw)
I hope you guys don’t think my Arthur is too out-of-character. In the game, his son really isn’t mentioned a whole lot, and we know the reason he gives John such a hard time is because he doesn’t want to see him make the same mistakes. But I honestly believe Arthur would have made a wonderful father. The motivation behind this whole fanfic is really just exploring grief and parenthood. Which is ironic because i don’t have children lmao.
TLDR: Kate McCanon domesticates the wild outlaw known as Arthur Morgan 😂
I can’t believe I rambled so much on this. I hope I didn’t overwhelm you. But I guess it just goes to show how much I appreciate your question, and the fact that you’ve taken time out of your day to read my story.
I love you guys! ♥️

I think this person applies this on important decisions only. This doesnt mean the person is cold hearted. Just when it comes to important choices, they dont use emotions.
Queen of cups: Despite it all, she wants someone that is kind and good natured. A calm person and receptive to emotions still.they still can be empathetic, nurturing, and possesses a deep understanding of emotions and relationships. Someone emotionally supportive, and often acts as a confidante or counselor. They have a remarkable ability to understand and empathize with others’ feelings, making them a trusted and valued companion.
Ok thats all, i hope you like my read 💗

The more I think about it the more I'm just. obsessed with aroace Yuno!!!!
Like c'mon... 'The wanted wanting the wanter /isn't that just too perfect?' She's not doing this compensated dating because she needs the money or has any huge past trauma, there's something else attracting her: it's that normal relationships feel so fake and dishonest (meanwhile even if her clients get feelings for her, it's not her fault because she was upfront that this is a transactional thing) and with these types she can have full control of what goes on and when and where and why!!!
Which is Also making me think of. Complicated slightly fucked up Yuno+Kazui friendship.
And FIRST OF ALL I'm. very new to this fandom and haven't read Most of the drama CDs hahahaha so this is just my first impression BUT
so she approaches him early (i have no idea if any of this is canon im sso sorry this is just what I want. right now.) because guys like him are common clients (either bc they're divorced and lonely or want to feel young again or whatever) but he's just easygoing abt it but Firm No. ('I'm old enough to be your father.' 'Haha, yeah? Isn't that the point?') And genuinely doesn't seem interested which is kinda annoying but whatever.
So she kinda tries or or two approaches with him, like playing the more sexy role of her second MV, but still he's not giving Anything back At All, and honestly it's weird that she's even trying this hard? Normally it's the other way around??? Like it's not like he can even pay her in here so.
She stews a bit and wonders if she does genuinely have feelings for him finally which'd be both annoying and a relief, and honestly it just Fits that that'd be how these things go lmao that she finally has real legit feelings for a guy with no interest in her. (And Mahiru is probably super excited about it bc this is early when she's still perky and happy and wanting to push them together.)
Maybe at some point Kazui does admit that he feels lonely without someone physically there with him to touch and be close to. So Yuno finally gets him to lie in her lap or vice versa or whatever. But it feels sorta weird. And he gets a bit somber. And wonders aloud if this is what it would've been like to have a daughter.
And she just. Gets up and leaves.
She's had guys say stuff like that before. Sometimes cause they pitied her and wanted to 'save her', which was frustrating, and she'd cut them off immediately. Usually because it was some kinda fucked-up incest roleplay, which she enjoyed; more than most roleplays, actually. The sweet lovey-dovey rps are okay but kinda false and make her feel weirdly guilty; the more messed up ones, she can relax in. Fucked up familial relationships, fucked up romantic relationships: what's the difference?
But Kazui actually meant it. No ulterior sexual or compassionate motives.
She apologises later saying that it's because they never hashed out their red flags or what the scene would be about, but she's the professional here and she didn't make sure that happened so it's her bad. And he just seems to accept that, and says he doesn't want to overstep her boundaries. And seems to mean it.
There's some commonality between them. A willingness to hold themselves back. To not talk about things that people don't want to talk about. This dance of fake affection, until it's impossible to tell what one's true feelings are anymore.
She likes having her relationships set out in clear words, without the actual emotional honesty of having to delve into her own psyche. But now she sort of wants to share things with him, and she has no idea what to do with that. And on his side, he senses some similar circumstances between them, but he still isn't yet able to be honest about what he knows about himself deep down. But maybe if he was, he could talk to her.
There's some talk abt sex among the prisoners. These two are expected to have the most experience, but she's kinda like 'sex is okay. It feels good and it's a means to an end.' And he's weirdly mysterious about it all but claims that his perspective is closest to hers, which confuses everyone else.
And............somehow from that they end up being able to have a conversation about Not Wanting What Society Wants You To Want and the weird relationships you have with all that and the ways you do or don't get what you Actually want, an d it's all very good and meaningful but idk I haven't thought that far yet hahahaha that's as far as I got before I had to type it all up :')))

just my food for thought: taylor's approach to promoting ttpd feels very much like big kpop releases (with the street pop-up, doing very limited promotions beforehand but dropping album versions with different names and even having photocards in her album and the album and lead single mv to drop on the same day ) and i understand that it also harks back on the generally short attention span people have with music these days, and saying that i miss her old rollouts doesn't mean she just has to bring them back because i want that, but i also would have loved a bit of a gradual build-up.
i honestly don't mind that the majority of people know who and what that album revolves around, since that is another thing i as one person can't change and i know that doesn't matter to me when i listen to the songs, but i honestly don't look forward to the fact that people will dig through the album for the most scathing lyrics, post them for viral moments, and then move on in a week or two bc then their attention will go to something else. this doesn't even feel like a real 'era' because the era is basically non-existent, which says something when taylor has marketed herself as the queen of album eras. i just wish she'd build on the theme of the album more, make it more of an era and work to make the songs just breathe for a while, you know?
while midnights wasn't my favourite album she ever did i genuinely really liked it (and same on the love for glitch!) for the way she wrote the album and the central theme of it being her contemplating her life, her actions, and her relationships - but all of that got lost in the wash like three months later and we never returned to looking at the album that way. you and the other anon were so spot on in saying that once it got the "heartbreak album" stamp (which ,,, it legit doesn't feel like a heartbreak album to me and still doesn't?), people never really came back to it or to listen to the songs and see anything else in them. i enjoy taylor's music and i like coming back to songs weeks, months, and even years later, as with any artist i listen to, and to see how i feel about them now. but it feels like that is never happening again bc the promo tells the majority of people one thing, they will listen to the album for two weeks except for two stand-out songs that become general faves, and then it's back to engaging with the commodity of the brand taylor swift, which to me feels like defeating the purpose of releasing an album aka a big body of work to stand on its own through time!
i don't know if that makes sense. in any case i love the discussions on your blog. feels like there is an entire different discussion about artists not being perfect humans, not even being likeable sometimes, and these people still releasing art that you as a listener (or watcher etc) will relate to and/or enjoy. i don't have a clear answer how to engage with that or how to look at that but the space and conversations on your blog have definitely made me keep thinking about it though it's something i have been pondering on for most of my adult life.
ah, sorry for this wall of text! i just really, really enjoy the open conversations on your blog and your general view on things. i don't know i feel on friday, but if you just want to discuss songs (if you listened, of course, if not that's also fine, i just enjoy seeing you post) i definitely love doing that even as just one of the anons on here. thank you for always putting your honesty and your love for music forward, sarah, it's why you're one of my favourite people to follow on here. 💜
i just wish the promo for this album made it feel like she was actually excited and proud of the album because right now it doesn’t. she’s not doing anything for it, and if she is, it’s being outsourced to other companies who are the actual ones doing the work (spotify with the library or the lyric messages, or instagram doing the countdown) so it really comes off as like she doesn’t care to put the effort in herself leading up to it.
And the thing about everyone moving on like a week after, you’re so right. it’s obvious a universal issue, everyone’s attention span is getting shorter everyday, but with taylor and swifties… it’s so bad. every release is forgot even days afterwards and the fans ask for another one. fans are speculating that she’s gonna drop rep tv the same day ttpd comes out… like they’ve already anticipated that they’ll move on the same day after getting it so they want more. and i feel like, while it’s impossible for taylor to fix the global attention span issue, i feel like proper promotion would help combat it within the fandom. like her releasing a first single a month or two before the album comes out would build anticipation, but also force people to slow down. here’s a teaser but now you have to wait, teach the fans patience kind of thing.
and that last part made me tear up that’s so sweet to appreciate what i have to say. i’m so happy you enjoy following me. messages like this are the exact reason why i love to have my inbox open and have these amazing, mature, open minded conversations and it sucks im gonna have to close my inbox for a short while when the album comes out but i will definitely post my opinions once i spend some time with it! ily anon thank you 💗✨

DAVEY
Look y’all gotta start telling me if y’all want canon or modern 💀
Okay so idk if Davey was based of Dave Simmons but let me tell you about him anyway 🥰🥰
I think Jack’s characterization is far closer to Dave Simmons than Davey’s. The only thing they share is a name.
But I digress
Tumblr media
So! This is Dave Simmons!
President of the Union in the first half of the strike
Accused of betraying the strike, though I personally think he may have been a victim of a whisper campaign out out by the papers
The rumor was that he and Kid Blink took a bribe to sell papes before the end of the strike.
Though they both denied the accusation, they both stepped down from their position. Dave (I believe) became treasurer instead.
There’s no actual evidence that he actually scabbed. But they decided to step down rather than hinder the strike with disloyalty.
Newsies Davey
Mom friend. This isn’t even a hc it’s just canon at this point.
This boy is burnt out before he’s even an adult 💀My poor boy is so tired all the time please give him iced coffee and therapy
Book smart. Common sense dumb. Uses big words like auspicious but knows nothing of selling or anything about Snyder (despite living in NYC and being poor enough to need to join the newsies)
Here comes my rant about autistic Davey Jacobs:
Has no filter and even less chill. Davey is very all or nothing and I love him for that.
Doesn’t get social cues. See: Jack v upset about Crutchie being arrested. Davey: “abOvE thE fOld”
Special interest: learning. Especially about art. And hawking. And pretty strike leaders
He and Les have gotten stuck in echolalia circles. They’ll echo each other for hours on end.
Has trouble lying, and approaching people in general.
End of this autistic Davey Jacobs rant bc I could literally talk forever
He values honesty so much it hurts. When Jack scabs in 92sies. One of first things David says is “You’re a liar! You lied about everything!” And the devastation on his face in Livesies. Literal chills 😭😭
Where Jack ignores orders just to prove a point, Davey doesn’t mind following orders as long as they’re reasonable. As long as they make sense. When the strike starts, Davey doesn’t quite understand. He doesn’t get the difference in ten cents for a hundred papes. It doesn’t make any difference to him. When it’s explained to him, he’s wholeheartedly for the strike. When Jack scabs, Davey once again doesn’t understand because they’ve worked so hard. And this is the one thing Jack listens to?
Anti-violence. Even in the face of starvation and freezing in the coming winter (they don’t know how long this strike will last. He has to be prepared) Davey is adamant. Do not soak the scabs.
Is always 100% done with Jack’s shit.
Is Jewish!! I’m like 98% sure this is canon, but I am certain it’s at least fanon the Jacobs are Jewish
Say something about his baby brother and he. Will. End. You.
RYAN KOPEL IS SO RIGHT THAT DAVEY GETS A LITTLE MORE FERAL EVERY DAY.
Modern:
Davey✔️
He and Jack have been friends for as long as he could remember. His family always went around to the orphanages in New York, bringing old clothes that had been collected by the people of their Synagogue.
David and Sarah had always sought out Jack when they’d get to the Refuge. Snyder always put on a front of being a kind, caring guardian when there were visitors, but Jack told Davey and Sarah about some of the horrors that they were put through.
Their parents never believed them, because Jack (having a distrust of adults for some odd reason) always told them that he was fine and he wasn’t in any danger, and so they thought their children were making it up to try and bring their friend home. When Les was born, the Jacobs took time off to get adjusted to having a new child in the house.
In college for business or marketing to make sure he knows how to do what’s best to keep them successful.
Dave in the Life: Multiple videos a week just vlogging the domestic side of his and Jack’s relationship
Been There Done That: Joint channel with Jack. Traveling, doing wild shit, usually featuring many of their friends
This concludes everything coming out of my brain about Davey Jacobs right now
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk

thoughts on citing tumblr posts in academic essays
specifically this post is not about fan studies or a sociological/anthropological approach to posts or any of those approaches. this post is a collection of my thoughts on citing posts that say [claim] when i also want to say [claim] in my paper. (as opposed to using the post to say that "people on tumblr say [claim]")
why cite the post? well, because, academic dishonesty is bad. citing sources is about recognizing a genealogy of knowledge. american academic citation practice encourages you to cite everything that influences your thinking. (i say american bc other countries have different citation practices and different ways of thinking about plagiarism.) citing the post brings up a lot of issues, but, for me, those don't outweigh the consideration of academic and intellectual honesty.
how to cite the post? nonissue. mla is pretty flexible. look at how tweets are cited. citing a conversation where multiple users are included might be a little trickier, but probably just do it as multiple authors?
proof: when you cite an academic essay making [claim], that is proof of [claim]. the idea is that the other essay has done the work to prove it. however, when you cite a tumblr post saying [claim], you still have to prove [claim] from the ground up, either by recounting the logic from the post, making your own argument, or both.
footnotes: so, if you have to prove the thing from scratch anyway and if your approach is different from the tumblr op's, you can probably just leave a footnote and say "this issue is also brought up by [x]" and cite the source, no need to like namedrop tumblr users in the body of your academic essay
accessibility of the post: back it up on webarchive, download a copy of the webpage for your own records, make sure it won't totally disappear if op deletes their blog
the question of closed spaces: in fan studies, fandoms are considered closed spaces. when you publish a news article or an academic article, you're expecting that to get shared and circulated. when you publish a tumblr post, you're not. this matters less since we're not doing anthropology or whatever, but it's still probably polite to say (from an empty sideblog created for the purpose, obviously) "hey i'm going to use this in an academic article." probably only necessary if you're going to publish it.
what to do if op has a really obscene name???????
your prof and/or editor (especially if it's an editor?????) will have some objections to you citing a tumblr post probably, so make double triple extra sure that you have proved your point and that the tumblr post usage does not degrade the quality of the argument + the tone of the paper.
these are pretty raw thoughts, if anyone has experience citing tumblr posts in this manner or has thoughts on the subject, please do share!

Thai BL Favourites Tag List Game
thank you @gaylittlepieceofsh1t for tagging me in this <33 (this was really fun to do, even if I overthought it and therefore took two weeks to finish it)
Favourite BL?
I’ll have to go with The Eclipse, no doubt. It’s honestly such a good show and also simply lives rent free in my head. It has such heart and such a caring approach to its story, themes and characters. It makes you genuinely think about the story it's telling and the characters you're following, about the situations they're in and the world and system that built them. + Its actors are doing fantastic work! (both main and side!!!!!)
The show is so worth it and if I could watch it for the first time again I would.
Favourite Pairing?
Right now it’s Kimchay!! (Porchay & Kim from Kinnporsche)
Tumblr media
They’ve had my heart since they first met and they have not given it up yet (nor have they been gentle with it, though). They constantly make me wish we had seen more of them.
The bits we do get of their dynamic make them such a compelling duo, though! They’re fun and sweet and heartbreaking and at times, frustrating. They share a passion that easily connects them and in a way even pose as opposites to each other - with Chay’s openness doing its best to break down Kim’s walls. You could say they both don’t quite get what they expected from meeting each other (bc while Chay meets his idol he also learns that there is much more to Kim, not all of it good & Kim doesn’t really get the  information he was looking for, but he does get his heart stolen) and sure, they don't have it easy considering their different motivations, their fallout and also the influence of the overall plot on them - but they just work together yk!! They’ll figure it out with enough time on their side!!!! (holding myself back from rambling on any more about them bc otherwise this would get waaaay too long)
Favourite (main) Character?
Tumblr media
Akk Pipitphattana (The Eclipse)
Akk is many things - serious and scared being only two of them, perhaps the easiest to pick up on at the beginning of the show. Once you get to know him a bit more - he's genuine and kind of funny, warm-hearted and so determined, loyal to a fault too. First and foremost however, he's someone that's just learning himself - both again and for the very first time over the course of the story and through his interactions with Ayan and the world around him and through the confrontation with his own mistakes and fears. He meets himself and doesnt like what he sees at first - and that's something so so human.
Akk as a character touched me so much and in a way, it was too easy to understand him. His struggles, fears and doubts. His guilt and shame. His journey over the course of the show is so important to me on just a personal level and he as a person is someone I hold very dear. It's also relevant to mention that First really excels at his role.
(It did halfway kill me to pick a favourite by the way bc I'm really bad at it? But he's who I just keep coming back to.)
Favourite Side Character?
I'm going to have to give multiple answers for this, I just have to.
1. Porchay Kittisawat (Kinnporsche)
Tumblr media
I just love him so much, ok. If I tried to explain all the reasons why we would be here for days & we don't have that kind of time, rn. So summed up? Chay as a character is so warm. He's passionate and compassionate. He cares deeply about the people in his life and he's a little bit no-nonsense - especially in his pursuit of things he wants (music, for Porsche to be safe & happy, Kim) - and appreciates honesty. He's quite smart, even if he can seem naive at first look. He's emotionally intelligent!! He's got a dream and he holds onto the things he wants as much as he can! With an overall rather positive attitude (not to be mistaken for simple  naivety) he's a little bit like sunshine. He's a delight. I want only the best for him!! (he gets his heart broken 😔😐)
2. Manaow (Until we meet again/ Between Us)
Tumblr media
My dearest girl!! She's such a lovely and supportive person!! She's quite funny and also just so genuine. Shy at times but also so bold about other things. I want her to achieve her dreams!! & honestly I would simply love to be her friend.
Favourite Scene?
I've overthought this so much bc it's just hard to decide, but I will settle on the hospital-hug scene in ep 10 of My School President bc there's just something about it yk. Gun is so relieved to see Tinn, who’s so fondly surprised by it. It makes my heart ache. (consider this gifset of the scene)
(secret second answer: episode 12 pool scene from The Eclipse of Ayan comforting Akk, it's so so important to me)
Favourite Line?
I'm not usually one to remember specific lines but one I do think about often is, as many things on this list, from The Eclipse.
“Once you say you care about other people's feelings, it means you are disregarding your own.” (Ayan to Akk, episode 6)
It's something both Akk and I really need to hear, bc as obvious as its message seems - it’s kind of hard to learn from experience. Prioritising other people's feelings has its place and time, but it shouldn’t come at the expense of yourself and getting caught up in attempting to live up to expectations will inevitably hurt you. (somebody should have cradled my face and told me that at 15 tbh but I didn't have an Ayan around, I'm glad Akk does.)
Underrated Actor?
I'm going to honestly say that I don't have good enough of a grasp on what's up to be able to give an opinion on that. Mainly bc I haven't seen that much and also bc I just tend to not involve myself much with actors.
Most anticipated QL?
Easy: 23. 5 Degrees!!! I'm so excited for this!!!!! It just looks so cute?? I’m more or less patiently waiting for this. Just look at them!! I love them already.
Tumblr media
Healthiest relationship in a BL?
Going with Tinngun (My School President) , because from the ones I've seen, they just are. They give each other room and are so genuine and honest about their feelings and what's going on with them and are so so supportive of each other and I really appreciate that. I wish them all the best.
Most toxic?
I honestly haven’t seen enough to be able to make a choice for that? so I‘ll have to leave this free. But i'll proably stumble across an answer sometime soon.
Guilty Pleasure?
I don't have one mainly because I've just not seen enough, but I'd like to! because I think it's important to just enjoy things instead of always looking for them to be ‘good’.

I thought radical feminism opposed hijab
Tumblr media
dont worry, no offense taken lol, i dont mind ppl just asking questions, and youre far from the first to ask me abt this. if anything tks for asking lol ive been wanting to make a post abt this on this blog, just hadn't gotten around to it
so. this is going to b a long and tangeled one. my opinions and feelings on hijab are quite complicated and conflicting and they have been so for years, and i think its important that i say a)in all honesty by this point i dont know what my stance is 100% and im not going to pretend otherwise b)i dont think my opinion is the most important on the planet when it comes to this discussion c)opinions among islamic feminists are not uniform on this topic d)i consider myself to be heavily leaning twoards radical feminism, and i engage w the community bc at least youre still allowed to talk abt shit and ill take women who are critical of everything under the sun than women who cant discuss shit; however i wouldnt say im a full on radfem, moreso an orbitor whose mostly on board
i really dislike the way liberal feminism, both from outside of islam and liberal feminism imported into it, approaches this topic. theres a billion nuances and things to touch up on in this discussion which i wont even get to; none of this starts and ends at "choice." and to start and end the discussion at choice is to miss out on any historical, social, psychological, or even religious analysis - how are we to speak of choice when so many muslim sisters believe that an all powerful god is commanding them to do something? this is not choice the way the liberals wish to understand it. also, i always said that i dont think covering is a feminist thing to do really - just bc a woman chooses to do a thing dont make it feminism all of the sudden
it is true that hijab is historically tied to sexism, this is undeniable. in islam it came about mostly after the death of muhammad pbuh; at least, it became more common. the quran is not specific when it tells women to cover. it was also the influence of other cultures and religions of the period which had an affect on islam; orthodox christianity, zoroastrocism, etc. it is indeed true that the hijab is entangeled with patriarchy and patrilinial systems - while it may be about modesty, this modesty exists in a male benefiting system in which the woman is expected to be modest (and sexually "pure") outside of marriage - so that males, in a patrilinial system, may know that a child is theirs. in a way, it was a way to mark a woman as private property; slave women, sex slaves or not for example, were in many cases not allowed to cover their heads, because they were public property, not private - which considering the shit ive been through, i do find to be deeply uncomfortable and angering. its also the case that the wearing of the hijab was often split among classes; at times only higher class women would veil for the most part, at times only lower class women would, depending on the place and time.
now, knowing this, and not denying its origins. its also important to understand that hijab has also taken up other meanings, and has functioned differently through time and cultures.
there is something to be said about its practicality in the place where it originated and where it is still warn, which is the middle of the desert. muhammah himself pbuh for a time grew up among the bedouins. if we look at the clothing of the nomadic peoples of the deserts of north africa and the middle east, its not just the women who are covered; the men as well often cover everything but their eyes. bc in a place with burning sun, sandstorms, winds, and biting cold during the night, this makes sense. i can also say after living in a desert for a bit over half a year, having essentially a thin blanket to wrap yourself in and shield yourself from the elements is actually quite nice. if we look at traditional saudi clothing today, men also wear essentially robes and cover their heads. if we look at ottoman clothing, the men would also often wear robe-like clothes, or both men and women would wear shalvari, loose harem pants;;; theres also something to be said about veiling, or the covering of the head, not being a unique thing to women in many cultures, within islam, and outside of it, from a cultural but also a spiritual perspective. if we look at orthodox priests and monks for example, many wear very similar clothes to nuns. if we look at the sikhs, the men cover as well as the women. etc. if we look at traditional romanian culture, it was also undignified for a man to walk around with his head uncovered (though by a hat and not a veil).
there is something to be said as well abt the veil not functioning the same in many places and cultures. so much of the discourse around muslim women and ~oppressed muslim women circles around the veil, and this has been so since the dawn of conflicts between the west and east - this endless fascination with it, with either demonizing or sexualizing it; youd think the entire islamic world revolves around it. in truth there are islamic societies and cultures in which it doesnt matter that much, in which some women wear it and some dont and some or most wear it in a way that is not "proper" according to some (turbans hands and neck showing jewerly loose veils etc - thinking particularly abt many places in africa but theres plenty of others). there are places in which the veil has become moreso of a focus as a direct result to colonialization than it was before; partially bc when someone invades your country, disrespects your entire culture, and bans you from doing shit, when you get rid of them you're going to double down. but again, there have been and there are plenty of places in which it wasnt... that big of a damn deal. i always love seeing old photos of the balkans for example, bc its just..,, niqabis, hijabis, women wearing traditional clothes but not covering, women wearing western clothes, niqabis wearing western clothes but only covering their faces,,, all together
im not denying the origins of the veil, nor am i denying that on many of our sisters it is pushed; i am not denying that this is an issue. i fully stand by our sisters who are against it, completely or not, i fully stand by our sisters who hate it, i fully stand by muslim and exmuslim and culturally but not religiously muslim women who dislike it or have had traumatic experiences with it - and i wish their voices and concerns and frustrations werent so buried by this whole damn "choice" discussion. it is clear that changes have to be made, that it cannot be forced, neither by threath of violence, neither religiously and culturally by telling women and girls that they have to or else they are sinful, undemn, going to hell, distracting men, or whatever the hell else. we have to completely do away with these concepts; only then could veiling be a truly free choice for a woman. we have to analyze and critique how all these concepts that surround so much of this - purity virginity modesty etc - are in retrospect sexist. we have to look at how modesty in islam is prescribed for both sexes, but it is most often only the sisters who have the rigidity of hijab forced onto them, while muslim men feel comfortable wearing shorts and taking their shirts off, etc, and noone ever really calls them sinners, tempters, undemn, sluts, etc. we have to question how much it matters at all how we personally feel about the veil, if in material reality we are still doing what men want us to do - to not question this would be to fall into the same trap that the postmodernists fall into
at. the. same. time.
the issue of hijab and feminism is deeply entangeled, as i mentioned earlier, with imperialism, colonialism, islamophobia, and racism. this whole rhetoric that the muslim woman must be unveiled to be liberated is an old one, one which predates feminism. example, the forced unveilings in algeria - where as far as i understand the colonizers had to first get women to veil in the first place to then unveil them; they are the ones who made this a focus. what france is doing right now - banning the hijab in public buildings under the guise of "liberating" muslim women - is an extension of this imperialism, this racism, islamophobia, sexism etc. this idea of "liberating" muslim women - from their own culture and religion by enlightening them with the western one - is one that has been used as justification for invading entite countries and wrecking havoc, and the veil has always been a primary focus in this. this has come from both western feminists, but also from western men - who didnt give a single shit about sexism, they didnt give a single shit about the sexism they were committing against their own women, but they suddenly cared abt sexism when it was abt liberating muslim women (of colour) from evil muslim men (of colour)
there is also something to be said abt the hijab being taken up throughout time as a symbol of anti-colonial resistance. per example many muslim women started veiling after both 9/11 and after what happened in palestina, as a symbol of resistance and pushback etc. i do think this is an important aspect to remember and a part of this conversation - that in the west, and outside of it, some have taken up veiling particularly as an act of defiance, and a symbol of solidarity with our fellow muslims. this is technically part of the reasoning for wearing hijab too originally, so that a woman may be known as a muslimah by her fellow muslims - the veil is indeed an identifier among ourselves, but also a target which paints us as clearly muslim to others. i also think its important to point out that there is nuance in who and why and how some women choose to veil; there are those who indeed start veiling completely agains the wishes of their families, husbands, community, etc - and this makes the discussion of hijab both in the west and outside of it more complicated, bc then, by doing so, we are not necessarily even conforming to expectations, if that makes sense.
while the hijab may be part of islamic patriatchy, it is also at the same time the anthises of western patriarchy. there is a quote which goes, about algeria and the niqab, "the colonizer is frustrated by the woman who sees, but cannot be seen." in the western world, where a woman is expected to show herself, to be sexy, to be beautiful, to always be covered in makeup and get plastic surgeries so that she may be attractive to men, to have her beauty and sexisness always to be consumed by any man (and women who refuse to do so are demonized and seen as lesser), a world in which billboards with half naked women are everywhere and sex appeal is used to sell any god damn thing, etc etc etc, it is true that the hijab stands in opposition to this - a refusal to make oneself and attractiveness avaible to the eyes of men. in a world in which a woman is so judged by her beauty, to show nothing but your eyes and hands, and nothing of your shape or beauty, is indeed in opposition to what western patriarchy wants or expects (also not just the west tho, plenty of eastern countries who have taken up these sort of expectations for women: south korea an example). reminds me of a niqabi i know on youtube, whose husband never saw what she looked like before they got married - this woman indeed has the certainty that her husband did not get with her because she was attractive or sexy, but because he genuinely cared for her and her personality, who she is, bc he had no damn idea what the woman he committed himself to looked like. but this frustrates the western man, who thinks he is entitled to see any womans beauty whenever he may please. he is not.
one of the reasons why i still wear it, is less to do with modesty, and more to do with, i hate men seeing me. i spend my childhood being bought, sold, raped, endlessly used and sexualized by males. when i was a preteen men started catcalling me on the streets in romania. etc. i dispise, i truly do, men having their eyes on me to any extend whatsoever, i truly do. to me, it is comforting to have a big veil i can wrap myself around in, whose folds i can dissapear in, with which i can cover my face and the shape of my body. its comforting to wear niqab, bc it means no man is seeing any part of me much, and thats the way i like it. i don't consider this dissappearing from public life - im very much still there, and my loud ass mouth which always gets me in trouble v much means i dont dissappear lol. its a way to be in public without having to worry that any man can see my body, think that i have a nice ass or my hair is beatiful or whatever the fuck else. im also lol deeply traumatized and brain damaged, and maybe autistic, and i get sensory overload easily at times. its also comforting to have essentially a thin blanket to wrap myself around in whenever i want bc of this, i find it to be very grounding and safe feeling. i also like that when i veil, most men understand to keep some distance from me and not touch me, which i appreciate. now. thing is. i shouldnt have to dress any sort of damn way for men to not sexualize me, men should know to keep their damn eyes off of women etc, but. they dont. at the same time veiling truly isnt some sort of ultimate escape let me make that clear - men will sexualize anything and everything, and there are plenty who specifically sexualize the veil. a woman could walk around almost naked, or she can walk around in full niqab and chador; there Will be men who will sexualize her, sexually harass her, assault her, agress her, or at the very least judge her. because theyre pigs
i also still wear it bc its a cultural thing, and this matters to me. when i first started veiling at 14 it was partly to do with spirituality, partially to do with this. i didnt come to america by choice particularly, and ive done a truly bad job at assimilating into its culture - when i did try, it left me with much self hatred and shame, so. yea, at some point i snapped out of that and decided the whole assimilation thing wasnt for me. ive had a habit of dressing traditionally for years, and starting to veil when i was younger was a part of that - even though i am uncomfortable with how this tradition has affected some of the women in my family, and the way i was exposed to it when i was younger - i saw it as something i was, lets say, reclaiming. now, i dont think "reclaiming" the veil is much a feminist thing either btw, i think it is at best perhaps neutral. but it has mattered to me for years as a symbol of both culture, a connection i share with my grandmother and grand grandma, the older generations who were less western, and a symbol of resistance to the expectation and pressure of assimilation. also. lets look at another part of traditional clothing which has sexist origins - jewerly. in the balkans (and many other parts of the world) the jewerly of a woman was her security; if her husband died, or divorced her, etc, a woman would be able to sell her jewerly to survive (this is also why historically women are given jewerly as gifts in many cultures). the jewerly also signified her social rank and "worth" - in the context of weddings (in which a bride price would be payed to the brides family by the husband in an often arranged marriage, aka, she was sold), the woman or girl would often be adorned with much jewerly which had not only spiritual and cultural significance, but it was meant to display the wealth of the families and the worth of the bride, as if she were some precious item bring bought and sold. even so - even with the sexist entangelments of traditional jewelry - im not going to stop wearing that, either; nor do i think traditional jewerly has to be forever entangled in its origins.
and i still wear it bc of spiritual reasons; as said earlier, many cultures and religions have taken up covering as a spiritual thing, for both men and women. i do find that personally it grounds me and reminds me of a series of responsibilities that i have, and it is a constant reminder of the presence of divinity (or the divinity in everything etc). also growing up i always just thought it was beautiful, even when the rhetoric pissed me off, i always wanted to look like one of those orthodox saints. the virgin mary, maryam, had style, thats all im saying
.... no. the choices i am making do not exist in a vaccum of individualism, and im fully aware of that, and ive been going back and forth on what exactly it means to wear hijab for years. but if wearing hijab is a part of islamic patriatchy, i have to wonder if taking it off while im in the west, even as a act of solidarity with our sisters, would not be further feeding into the very old imperialist idea that the muslim woman ought to unveil in order to be liberated and free - as if the west is any less sexist, as if the expectations placed on women here arent also a damn nightmare. none of these "choices" exist in a vaccum, and i very much feel caught in the middle, and no, i dont have some singular answers or solution or opinion on any of this. i really dont
i also think there is something to be said about, there are different ways of going about, lets say, reforming what the hijab means and how it functions, which do not neccessitate its full dissapearance. in marocco for example the younger generation has been switching between wearing hijab one day, and not wearing it the next. this already breaks expectations and some of the values and ideas that surround it, and it normalizes it in a way which makes it just another item of clothing, rather than something that has to be strictly followed, or that has to do with a womans worth and purity or this super important thing. and again, there are many places in which the hijab is warn in a nonstrict manner, taken off, put on, worn loosely, worn with short sleeves or showing the neck or jewerly or whatever - which is also what i do. i think this may be a middle path to this issue to take
i also would like to touch up on briefely on the purdah - the sociatal segregation of the sexes, practiced in islamic cultures as well as hindu ones, and some others - of which the hijab&niqab are a part of. i have written abt this in this post; while the topic is complex, i do not believe the purdah has to be inherently sexist, and rather, id prefer if society was more sex segregated than it is, just in an egalitarian way - partial segregation as far as im concerned allows for a level of saftey and sisterhood for women, in the best cases
so. uh yea. idk probably a lot i didnt get to and this probably wasnt the most clear reply - all this to say, its a nuanced and complex issue which i do not have some sort of solid standing on. and which, again, among islamic feminists is also not a uniform issue. while i cant remember off of the top of my head whose written on this, there is an islamic feminist tag on this blog that you can look through, and you'll come across the names of many authors who have probably at one time or another touched up on it. theres also somewhere there a post with pdfs to several books, which may be a good place to start farther looking into this if you are interested. im sorry if this wasnt a super satisfactory or clear answer, its just an honest and complicated one
