The more I think about it the more I'm just. obsessed with aroace Yuno!!!!

Like c'mon... 'The wanted wanting the wanter /isn't that just too perfect?' She's not doing this compensated dating because she needs the money or has any huge past trauma, there's something else attracting her: it's that normal relationships feel so fake and dishonest (meanwhile even if her clients get feelings for her, it's not her fault because she was upfront that this is a transactional thing) and with these types she can have full control of what goes on and when and where and why!!!

Which is Also making me think of. Complicated slightly fucked up Yuno+Kazui friendship.

And FIRST OF ALL I'm. very new to this fandom and haven't read Most of the drama CDs hahahaha so this is just my first impression BUT

so she approaches him early (i have no idea if any of this is canon im sso sorry this is just what I want. right now.) because guys like him are common clients (either bc they're divorced and lonely or want to feel young again or whatever) but he's just easygoing abt it but Firm No. ('I'm old enough to be your father.' 'Haha, yeah? Isn't that the point?') And genuinely doesn't seem interested which is kinda annoying but whatever.

So she kinda tries or or two approaches with him, like playing the more sexy role of her second MV, but still he's not giving Anything back At All, and honestly it's weird that she's even trying this hard? Normally it's the other way around??? Like it's not like he can even pay her in here so.

She stews a bit and wonders if she does genuinely have feelings for him finally which'd be both annoying and a relief, and honestly it just Fits that that'd be how these things go lmao that she finally has real legit feelings for a guy with no interest in her. (And Mahiru is probably super excited about it bc this is early when she's still perky and happy and wanting to push them together.)

Maybe at some point Kazui does admit that he feels lonely without someone physically there with him to touch and be close to. So Yuno finally gets him to lie in her lap or vice versa or whatever. But it feels sorta weird. And he gets a bit somber. And wonders aloud if this is what it would've been like to have a daughter.

And she just. Gets up and leaves.

She's had guys say stuff like that before. Sometimes cause they pitied her and wanted to 'save her', which was frustrating, and she'd cut them off immediately. Usually because it was some kinda fucked-up incest roleplay, which she enjoyed; more than most roleplays, actually. The sweet lovey-dovey rps are okay but kinda false and make her feel weirdly guilty; the more messed up ones, she can relax in. Fucked up familial relationships, fucked up romantic relationships: what's the difference?

But Kazui actually meant it. No ulterior sexual or compassionate motives.

She apologises later saying that it's because they never hashed out their red flags or what the scene would be about, but she's the professional here and she didn't make sure that happened so it's her bad. And he just seems to accept that, and says he doesn't want to overstep her boundaries. And seems to mean it.

There's some commonality between them. A willingness to hold themselves back. To not talk about things that people don't want to talk about. This dance of fake affection, until it's impossible to tell what one's true feelings are anymore.

She likes having her relationships set out in clear words, without the actual emotional honesty of having to delve into her own psyche. But now she sort of wants to share things with him, and she has no idea what to do with that. And on his side, he senses some similar circumstances between them, but he still isn't yet able to be honest about what he knows about himself deep down. But maybe if he was, he could talk to her.

There's some talk abt sex among the prisoners. These two are expected to have the most experience, but she's kinda like 'sex is okay. It feels good and it's a means to an end.' And he's weirdly mysterious about it all but claims that his perspective is closest to hers, which confuses everyone else.

And............somehow from that they end up being able to have a conversation about Not Wanting What Society Wants You To Want and the weird relationships you have with all that and the ways you do or don't get what you Actually want, an d it's all very good and meaningful but idk I haven't thought that far yet hahahaha that's as far as I got before I had to type it all up :')))

If I have to pick, I would have to pick Yuno for the specific reason of dating Sasuke? Not a good thing cause that man is the most AroAce person alive. That man can not date someone without looking bored out of his mind. He is so AroAce, the flag itself would not be as AroAce as him. Yuno is also AroAce, but compared to Sasuke? He is the most datable person alive.

I do hate a lot of Milgram fans who grew up with western values and don't understand Yuno and Kazui's situations to the point where they gloss over or completely misinterpret their situations and project their theories as fact. Yuno talks about her complicated feelings towards her abortion and imagery that's quite obvious regarding her sexual experiences is lost on most western viewers. Kazui has known he's been romantically and sexually attracted to men for a long time--this is not new information to him and he is coming to terms with being open about it, not simply with the fact that he's gay.

I'm just really sick of Milgram fans in the English community glossing over the imagery in Yuno's MVs, ESPECIALLY her 2nd trial MV, and tossing her aside as an "easy" character despite how real her struggles are. I'm also tired of people in general only analyzing Kazui's English lyrics, ignoring his voice dramas and interrogations, and jumping to conclusions that he cheated (though this is more common in not English communities now than the English community...) or that he's aromantic (only present in the English community) or that he abused Hinako, his wife (present in all communities)

I like Yuno and Kazui a lot, but they tend to be misunderstood by western fans on a level of nuance rather than a basic understanding of what they did. However, my true confession here is that I feel grateful that even people across language and culture barriers can at least understand what they did. I can only imagine what people whose favourite prisoners are Haruka, Muu, or Kotoko feel about how the characters have been misinterpreted entirely. Many people in western spheres have made very good analyses of Muu, though, and it makes me very happy to see!

So, despite my mourning of some characters' framings in the western Milgram community, which I have only been talking with and seeing for a short time now, I do like seeing how people's values change how they see characters when it adds a helpful lens to the equation.

Haruka: Panromantic and demisexual. I do also vibe with gay Haru a lot tho. I wouldn't say he is cis, there is something fruity going on with his gender. I settled on agender boy for now, I feel he is somewhat in touch with his feminity, but also very content with being amab. (The whole matter of his mother always wanting a girl complicates things for him tho)

Yuno: Bisexual, maybe aro? Might also be a demiromantic kinda deal with her

Fuuta: Closeted little gay man all the way for me. Probably somewhere on the nb or agender spectrum, but amab and strictly masc presenting.

Muu: The lesbian queen bee. Might be aromantic, might be her NPD, or both.

Shidou: Biromantic asexual. His wife was his only love so far, but he gives me the "attraction to more than one gender" vibe

thank you, i really appreciate it and i hope my art tastes good. as for headcanons, i have:

-kazui has more body fat than in canon.

-mikoto has some barely notable facial hair on his face since he hasn’t been able to shave/isn’t in the right mental state for taking care of himself right now.

-i like to draw es with a small scar on high their right cheek from their encounter with john in trial one.

-es doesn’t think of themself as non-binary or really anything at all; they’re too busy and they’d rather not think of something so personal right now. they’d probably have a mental breakdown if you asked what their pronouns are

- es’ hair has been growing out since trial one but they’re too busy to notice it

- kotoko has more noticeable muscles than in canon.

-i like to think of yuno as aromantic

- not really a headcanon, but i have been thinking about an au where milgram and jackalope suddenly disappear after trial 2 and everyone left is in a world where their crimes never happened. they’re also forced to get a temporary house together, as most of them can’t live on their own and they still need to figure out what’s going on. it less of a found family and more of a bunch of fucked up people trying to heal when the only ones who understand what they’re going through is each other

i've been thinking of aro kazui as well but i'd like to see others' thoughts on it ^^

I actually don't know 🫠

I figured he could be read as both gay or aro, and it felt like aro was the underdog. There is the green apple, which reminds me of the aromantic flag (2nd stripe), not the gay man flag (iirc its green borders on blue?).

I also feel like he wants to hang with his friend platonically, just go fish regardless of his responsibility. Go do whatever as if he was a cat. And that if he dated Hinako, he would come to love her; but it didn't come.

Admittedly, Yuno's comment on the timeline and Minigram throws a wrench into that theory. His description already felt platonic imo: find a lady that have a warm smile. I don't know if he lied about the gender he was looking for (male buddies) or his intent (maybe he wanted a cuddle buddy or a friend with benefits?).

The man appearing in front of the crowd in Cat is theorized to be his friend, and there is a certain emphasis on his ring (it's silver so maybe it's not an alliance; no clue), so it feels like Kazui sees it as a barrier or a leash keeping his friend (and himself) from hanging together; they must tend to their wives and family or Papa Mukuhara will throw stares. Kazui probably see himself and his friend as dogs: they cannot meet without their masters, and he probably wishes he had the liberty of cats, be able to go wander wherever the winds brings him. And the marriage was a leash he didn't like, to the point it destroyed it (white dove) possibly through his prioritizing his needs over the whole family thing, and people were probably judgmental toward Hinako and Kazui. (could also point toward the gay theory, but I feel like rabbits would embody the idea better than cats, especially since they tend to escape their cages. cats are more about freedom and playfulness imho)
