A feeling in the force

Kanan didn’t need the force to feel something off about Hera lately.She wouldn’t say anything about it but she didn’t need too…she felt so tired? Empty? Like he could taste the bitter tears coming off her though it wasn’t visible on her face.Finally He couldn’t talk it any longer.He didn’t want to push her but it felt like the unshed tears where stinging him.So as she was heading to the cockpit ladder.He took her arm.

“Hera spill what’s going on.” Hera wasn’t the pity type so he needed a different approach.

“Nothing.” She responded.

“Thats a load of bantha fodder and we both know it.”

“Oh really how could you tell? Is it Jedi powers?” She replied more as a challenge.

“I don’t need the force to tell something is wrong now please talk to me.”

“Nothing…” she said with a pause this time

Im not going to get anything from her am I?He thought to himself.

“Nothing, except for the fact that we still haven’t found a base! lothal is still under siege and I just got word from fulcrum that ry-!” Her tone was rising as she spoke ending her rant with a growl as soon as she said ry- cutting herself off.He has never really heard her mention anything about her her home or her past if that was even relevant.

“This galaxy has gone to the wolves.Im going to bed.”she was about to head up the cockpit ladder when Kanan gently took her arm and rubbed his thumb over it.

“That never stopped you before, it never stopped us before.”

“Kanan thats sweet but not now I-“ and suddenly she was transported back to ryloth.Her father Cham had gotten badly injured in a battle, so much so that they weren’t sure if he would recover.Hera couldn’t even bear to visit him in the medwing, that is until Elani said those magical words. “Nothing can stop us Hera nothing , and you shouldn’t let anything keep you from your family.Your father needs you right now.” And suddenly she was little Hera again.Little Hera who was afraid.Who missed her loving mother and father and her eyes starting to mist and as she broke into a sob and fell into her jedi’s arms.

“Shh.” He rubbed her back softly.

“Today w-was the anniversary of my moms death!It was the day everything went wrong! And my father.I keep getting news of Ryloth! My people are enslaved and the war takes more and more from us! And Im watching my father spiral and I can’t go back-I don’t want to but ugh!” She shouts with angry tears,she starts tugging at her montrails.Kanan squeezes her tighter.

“Hera I don’t know what to say.” He rubs her back again quietly.

“This was the one day where we could patch things up.The anniversary of her death.We argued but we came together and thats all gone.I miss my mother.I miss my father.” Her Twi’lek accent was peaking.

“Hera we will get through this.” He responded now with a smile.

“Sometimes Im not so sure.” She responds with a grim chuckle.

“You taught me the power hope when I forgot it.When I was trapped in the drunk darkness, and because I feel it.

“In the force?” Hera asked.

“In you.” He said kissing her forehead gently.

Kallus: Alcohol.

Ezra: what's that?

Kallus: it taste like paint thinner and stops you from thinking clearly. It also affects your sense of stability. *grabs the back of Tseebo's shirt, pulling him toward him instead of letting him slide off the counter* and can very easily make you lose your balance. And if you drink too much, it can make you very sick.

Ezra: then why are they drinking it??? Why are they laughing????

Kallus: *contently giving stability to Tseebo, who is very comfortable where hes at as he continues to joke with Morad* it's like candy for adults. If you mix it with specific drinks, it tastes better. As long as you don't drink more than a few drinks, you'll probably be fine. But not until you're twenty. At least.

Ezra: why? Why can't I drink the candy?

Kallus: because it's not candy. I said it's *like* candy. Only adults can drink it, and even then there are some adults that still shouldn't be allowed to drink it because they can't do so responsibly. And it can damage your development. It's a rule that changes a little bit depending on where in the galaxy you are, and even on some planets it will depend on what area you're in, but the general rule of thumb is you have to be at least 20 or 21 to start drinking. If you start now, it will damage you.

Ezra: will I stay small?????

Kallus: honestly? Maybe. I don't know everything about alcohol so I'm not certain one way or the other on it stunting your growth further, but it's definitely possible.

Ezra: .... you said the rules vary from place to place. What's the rule for lothal?

Kallus: 18.

Ezra: can I start at 18???

Kallus: if you're asking me, my answer is no. But ultimately, that will be up to your parents. They may let you start then.

Ezra: oh... okay.... :(

Kallus: if you're still leaving it up to me, you can try your first drink at 18. You just can't start having it in any amount of frequency until 20.

Ezra: really? :D

Kallus, grinning softly: Yes. But only if you follow the rules of alcohol. It has a lot more rules than candy. I can go over all of them with you so you'll know how to drink safely and responsibly.

Ezra: can you tell them to me now???

Kallus: sure. Never too early to start learning safety.

The force as part of all living beings always has been part of Star Wars canon

About the discourse with Sabine and Ahsoka and Ahsoka supposely breaking previous canon by training Sabine, I believe it´s best to look at the facts of the previous trilogies first to get a balanced view about this.

The force always has been part of every living being since the original trilogy, Yoda and Obi-Wan talk about it as a force field that keeps united all living beings in the galaxy, that helps them see the past or the future, how to avoid trouble and how to connect with all living beings around the people using it, this is the original description of what the force is and this didn´t change in the series, Ahsoka is just recognizing this fact to train Sabine in the Jedi arts.

The level of force sensitivity is the thing at question here, not the force itself, on the battle over the first death star all rebel pilots had the force because all of them were living beings but Luke was stronger in the force than the other pilots and so Vader could detect this, he didn´t say "He is force sensitive" or "He has the force" , he said "The force is STRONG in this one".

Sabine as a living being with mandalorian training can perfectly learn and practice the Jedi arts even if the intensity of the force in her isn´t as strong as Jedi trained by the Jedi Order, like Kanan, Ahsoka, Anakin or Obi-Wan, she still can learn and become someone like Chirrut Iwe from Rogue One, who certainly was using the force in his daily life and practiced his martial arts trusting it to protect him.

In fact I could go as far as saying that most of the Rogue One crew, Jyn Erso, Andor, Baze, Chirrut, despite not being jedi or strong in the force, still trusted it to help them steal the death star plans and the only one in the Empire who noticed was Vader, hence his comment about the force being stronger than the Death Star. It doesn´t need to be obvious or impressive, it just needs to allow certain events to happen at the right time.

The force always had faith elements to it since the original trilogy and even not strong force sensitives can use it sometimes. Vader knows this for a fact because as a child he knew exactly what to do to protect himself or win the podraces his owner keep putting him expecting him to die at any moment. This is the force acting despite no training and that´s how it acts in most beings.

Even the strongest force sensitives by sheer potential in the series: Anakin, Palpatine, Yoda, Luke and Leia needed traning to truly access that level of conection and control over the force because they may have been the beings with the most potential but this didn´t mean they didn´t need to learn discipline and method to develop their potential.

Ahsoka and Luke are another example, Luke definitely has more force potential than Ahsoka, as Anakin´s Son "the force is STRONG in my family" , most of it already developed but Ahsoka knows way more about the force(at least at the time the Ahsoka series is happening) than Luke does, for her sheer training and experience.

So what Ahsoka is doing is traning in the Jedi ways someone who would not have been called or accepted at the temple but who nonetheless can learn to practice the force to help her in battle like Chirrut did or to get a stronger connection with all force sensitives around her and thats not wrong at all, neither does it contradicts any previous trilogy or canon.

Also, at this point, Ahsoka isn´t acting on behalf of the Jedi Order, in fact she still has conflicts over it, hence why she has not tried to help Luke more in the rebuilding of the school and my guess is because she´s trying to develop a variant of what the Order believed just involving people with different levels of potential while Luke is trying to rebuilt the school in the classical training of the old Jedi Order, at least in current canon, we don´t know if he will keep that path.

They could either go their own two ways or get to an agreetment over how best to rebuilt the Order but only time can tell and both have reason to want to make this slighty different to the way the old Order managed their training even if they really want to keep the traditions.

The current renaissance of star wars (Andor, Thrawn trilogy, Mandolorian) is because of rebels.

SW rebels was one of the first things to premiere after the legends purge, so salty fans attacked it relentlessly as they had no other outlet (until the sequel trilogy). As we get further and further from that time and canon builds up its timeline we can see the amount of worldbuilding the show did that provides the base for so many of the current shows, to work off of.

The darksaber and the mandolorian

The mandolorian is basically a spinoff of rebels with the amount of shared characters, plots and macguffins, but I'd like to focus on the darksaber.

The amount of weight that saber holds is established in rebels, "trial of the darksaber" while being an amazing episode for sabine establishes the history of the darksaber, clarifies how lightsabers work and sets up "the ducchess" very likely a superweapon thats gonna show up in season 3. without having g rebels to lean on the mandolorian would not feel as galaxy spanning and large.

Kenobi and Fallen order and the inquisitors

This one's pretty obvious the main conflict in the show and game revolve around a concept that rebels writers took from legends and refined. Inquisitors are potrayed as intimidating, but coming from sympathetic pasts (Grand inquisitor being temple guard), capable but falling to infighting (seventh sister and fifth brother) as well as their cool designs. (I really like the spinny blades okay)

Fallen order and kenobi build on these elements set up in rebels, to drive their plot, and use other ideas like vaders broken helmet for emotional moments (not to mention Cal's story being identical to kanan's current, hopefully it grows in jedi survivor) .

The ISB and andor

Rebels establishes the isb through Agent kallus, a skilled, menacing devious tactician, who is sympathetic, who is very capable of espionage, and is used to comment on the empires dehumanisation, sound familiar?

There are differences in portrayal obviously as ones for a younger audience but the underlying themes and ideas are the same. Andor used the ideas present to build its own story about a surveillance state, and the empires radicalisation off of the base ideas there.

Rebels brought thrawn back as a villan

I don't think I need to tell you how much fans like thrawn, but he was never a household name until rebels. It introduced thus awesome character to a larger audience, and gave Timothy zahn to take his character in new interesting directions basically doing whatever he wants, which people seem to like.

Importantly however rebels brought him back as a villan cause however fun he is as a Sherlock figure, thrawn is at his best as a intimidating smart villan, season 3 of rebels always had that looming feeling that the rebels are falling into a trap, which they were. Thrawn in the season finale was terrifying, one by one destroying all the ships the rebels built up, losing the people they worked hard to save and the base they got to rest at if even for a moment. This is where thrawn is at his best, and from the looks of it that's what they are gonna build on for the future of star wars as a whole.

This post is basically a reminder that current star wars is nothing without star wars rebels as a base and more people should know about it.

what really gets me is the difference between kyun's view in viewpoint b and takamine's (assuming shes 45510 narrator)

like you said, takamine saw and still sees ai as the perfect idol, a fan striving to keep her perfect image (kind of paralleling akane and kana's fan-actor situation where akane hates but also adores kana as an actor but where takamine bought into ai's façade despite knowing her backstory and the clear evidence that ai tried to be as honest as possible yet still labelling her as a liar/perfection and refusing to see her as anything else, akane strove to understand kana and her situation instead) and her own words put ai up on a pedestal and in the process characterizes ai only in relation to that pedestal and refusing to look any further, thus sending the chance for any connection down the drain

in contrast, as i was rereading viewpoint b, kyun struck me as having a sort of? awareness? about ai and her own perception of her because kyun actually reflects about the "idea of ai", considering that that "perfect woman" was actually a mirage from memory. she doesn't actually break out of the mirage, but she's honest with herself in a way takamine isnt, in that she knows her view of ai as inhuman is probably a falsehood, but she had decided to take that view anyway

conversely thats what allows kyun to actually connect with ai, even if she misses the mark sometimes, rather than getting caught up in the façade and clam up like kanan does earlier, kyun instead opens up, confirmed in the story itself as kyun even says that her choosing to view ai this way is what allows her to be able to tell ai things she wouldn't tell anyone else

and its because of that very mindset along with the fact that she markedly makes the effort to try and understand ai where everyone else didn't that she manages to see ai's suffering and chooses the lyrics to match what she was able to see

i think this is why ai felt that kyun was the member she was closest to, because kyun opening up allowed the way for ai to open up and the song that was a joint effort made between them, of true feelings they both expressed to each other

"from miserable me, to miserable you" a summation of that conversation between ai and kyun

Joking aside, I think this is a pretty spot on analysis of Kyun and her relationship w/Ai in Viewpoint B. Honestly, what I found really fascinating while going through the process of translating them both is just what a study in contrast they were. Kyun starts off Viewpoint B talking about how angry she is but what came out to me much stronger was this persistent melancholy, a sort of soft nostalgic sadness. By contrast, 45510 is incredibly angry and hostile, to the point where it can honestly be a little uncomfortable to read!

The main difference is, as you said, that sense of self awareness – both Kyun and the 45510 narrator take part in dehumanizing Ai but while the 45510 narrator either isn't aware or willing to admit what she's doing, Kyun not only freely admits to it but is able to identify and explain pretty clearly why she feels she has to do it and, notably, does not blame Ai for this -- as she herself puts it, it's an issue of her own jealousy and her own feelings and so while it's maybe not the healthiest way to do it, there's something oddly considerate about her doing her best not to resent Ai for something that's so out of her control.

The real point of contrast comes when both of them are unavoidably confronted with Ai's humanity in ways that threaten their perception of her. The 45510 narrator responds with not just hostility but revulsion and goes out of her way to irrevocably destroy this trace of the real Ai, so the eternal idol can survive in her mind, untarnished.

Kyun responds much differently – she accepts this challenge to her worldview and to an extent, she accepts Ai as well. It's kind of heartbreaking that the thing Ai wanted most of all, to have someone see her for who she really was and accept her, was so close by and the two of them just sort of... missed each other. I've said this before, but I wonder so often just how many things could have changed if Ai and Kyun's friendship had stuck and given Ai the support within B-Komachi she so desperately needed.

Something I found myself wondering as I was mulling over all this is maybe it's a matter of age and perspective?

Kyun is around 18 at the time Viewpoint B takes place, which puts her at around 3 or 4 years older than Ai while the 45510 narrator's age is never given but she confirms she was a middle schooler like the rest of the founding members, which would make her roughly the same age as Ai, so probably around twelve or so when they debuted.

Kyun also didn't have a ton of prior brain poisoning from the entertainment industry; as she puts it, she was primarily a musician who only gravitated towards being an idol as a way of being able to make music her career in any way she could. The 45510 narrator, by contrast, seems to have been inducted into the industry and its standards at a relatively young age which gave them plenty of time to fry her brain.

I hope we get more deets about the B-Komachi girls soon........................ I'm really hopeful that the Spica novel's Ai story will have at least a few tidbits about the founding members since it focuses at least partially on Ai's early time there. Mr Akasaka, please.... my crops, they're withering.....!!!!!

Oh man. I tend to just fucking go for it and write them myself but I think I've got a handful that would be like wishlist.

Maul and Kanan competing for Ezra's master and Maul being actually good at it.

Obi-wan's name having been mispronounced by everyone his whole life.

Rex being super into his aquarium/terrarium building and hiding it from everyone he knows.

Obi-wan returning to Melida/Daan and being recognized as a hero there

Vader realizing that Luke and Leia are his kids earlier on and trying to be a dad to them while they are all actively fighting each other

Kit Fisto losing babywan on a field trip and living his life in perpetual anxiety of losing sight of him again after that.

The whole Opress family being social media stars/influencers in various areas (Maul is a model punk bad boy with music/punk/destroying obi-wan lifestyle type of account, Savage is a video game streamer, and Feral (like 15 yo here) is just chronically online, accidentally joining chat rooms with the TCW padawan crew and making friends with the family nemesis-troop.

I want bitches to know that whenever i think about star wars rebels it brings me to the verge of tears. Like this series isn't a tie in like clone wars was, it was an aftermath. This series was picking up the pieces of the clone wars and what both sides stood for in the face of the empire by a completely new generation of people.

We come to know and adore all of the members of the ghost and understand their personal traveisties. Hera and chopper with the loss of her childhood, Kanan and Zeb and the lost of their home and everything they knew, Sabine and Ezra with the sins of their parents they have to live with. All of these characters have their own problems and only ever find comfort and safetey with eachother because no one else knows what they feel.

And since they’re so sprated from the movies, we don't know rheir fate, we don't know what they'll leave behind. We watch these characters grow and we cannot predict their deaths and legacies, we're forced to sit and watch them with the feeling of uncertainty. We sit and greve with these characters because we have become one with this space family fighting facism.

Everywhere you look in this series is monuments to a fallen republic. We're forced to sit here and stare at it as these old bases and facilities are from a bygon era that at one point in time we come to find as home and comforting with the clone wars series taking place in places like these. Its all remains forgotten, unappreciated, abandoned, and utterly in ruins much like the troops who ran them.

The last battle makes me want to cry seeing the remains of the droid army making up eith the clones when they realized that neither of them won the war. Both of them are equally sentient and used for nothing but a war that neither of them would've ever won. Both of them trying to fight for something that seems right (separatists wanting better representation, and the republic not wanting the galaxy to dissolve into conflciting governments) but both sides equally become corrupted by the interests of a single man.

For something so small, vader and a ahsoka is a gut punch for me. We see this build up for the entire season and ends with one of the most gut wrenching lines (I WON'T LEAVE YOU, NOT THIS TIME!). Its extremely departed from the plot and achives so kany feels in soo little time i love it and hate it at the same time.

Bro i can't even get into farewell and homecoming without shedding tears im not touching that.

BUUUT i can talk about maul and his end. Twin suns is easily a favorite episode especially with the kenobi series and the journals from the 2015 star wars series. I definitely think maul is used too much in this post clone wars era of star wars media, but none of them can really beat out how rebels worked with him and gave him a meaningful narrative death. Like his journey of hatred and revenge beginning where it ends on tatooine is just poetic writing. How hes alway attach to his past and then subsequently gets beaten after trying the same move he tried doing to qui-gon, but outwitten by obi-wan. By this time Obi-Wan has moved on from his guilt and past regarding anakin and the purge, maul hasn't and thats how he failed.

Also the line about luke being the avenger for those used by Palpatine, both jedi and sith alike also makes me want to cry. Like so many people who learned about this dumbass kid had so much faith and hope in him that he'll do the right thing in the end makes the movies and comics hurt more

This show brings up so much shit from the events of mortis, the horror of the empire, the foundings of a rebellion and how to truly make a stance and what it takes, the importance of trust and faith in others, and just so much more i just don't wanna shed tears on my keyboard rn

Hhh I love when I get especially soft for Rebels Rex!! Cause I love him no matter what version of him it is, but there's just something really special about having the privilege of being able to see yourself grow old with someone you know? 🥺💖💖💖 having that love burn just as bright 20 years down the road as it did when you first fell for each other,, choosing to love one another through all your changes and life's ups and downs

But thats me being mushy I always wanted to talk about how fucking FUNNY Rex's relationship with Kanan is! Kanan has his reasons not to trust clones but eventually, begrudgingly learns to work with Rex and I like to think of it as kind of a strained grandpa/grandson relationship. And it's especially funny cause I imagine that after the mission on Seelos when they bring Rex to join the rebellion they have some drinks together to toast their new friendship and Kanan is like "friendship is pushing it, but alright" and they get blasted while in hyperspace and Rex starts rambling about his wife and kids 🥺

And Kanan is like "now I KNOW you're drunk, as if anyone would marry you!" And Rex brings out a picture of me and him and all the kids when they're still little babies and Kanan is like "THAT'S MASTER BREA" and loses his SHIT cause when he was a Padawan he knew Kepler and Ahsoka and by extension knew who I was and his entire world just like shatters

Yes absolutely and I'm sorry for the long winded explanation that is about to follow! But if anyone else would like to play character bingo or send me some cahracters, heres the link!

So heres the thing about Ahsoka, I love her, I think she's a great character, I love the turns her arc takes to get her where she needs to be without interrupting what we see in the movies. In fact after only discovering Ahsoka about a year ago, I think she GREATLY inhances my personal enjoyment of Revenge of the Sith. A lot of the things that bothered me about Revenge of the Sith were mostly fixed after watching Clone Wars and getting to know Ahsoka's story. I think depending on how you react to child characters having to make and learn from their mistakes, will determine whether or not you like Ahsoka. Like from what I've gathered when she first came out, a lot of people didn't like her, but like early seasons, she's like a 13-14 year old kid, of course she's going to be a little annoying and ask questions?

For me, Ahsoka operates best when I'm looking at her as a character foil for Anakin and Obi-Wan. Saying that feels really reductive, but that was how I absorbed her character while watching Clone Wars, thats the lens I view her through that had me so torn up in the later seasons. I mean thats really what she is. She's meant to bring out the best of Anakin, and show the audience the options that Anakin had instead of relying on Palpatine or always blaming Obi-Wan. Ahsoka was close to SO MANY JEDI, she didn't just have one master, she learned from all of them. She's a good balance between Obi-Wan and Anakin, the product of the best parts of them. She's courageous, and strong, but learns to take the time to self reflect to understand herself and her options in tough situations. She's sassy, and a bit of a smart ass, but deeply compassionate and hopeful even when its most difficult. She can be stubborn and reckless at times, but she's resourceful and often calls on the lessons she learned from others in the past.

I know for the new stuff like the mandalorian, a lot of people were complaining about her, saying she sounded too detached from everything, especially after her comments about training Grogu, and Luke training Grogu. I actually disagree with that. I think after everything Ahsoka has been through, after what has happened to the people she loves, she's still deciding if the jedi path is one she can teach others to follow. I mean, you have Ahsoka in Clone Wars by the end she's very uncertain, then you see her again in rebels and she's still carrying that uncertainty, going so far to say "I am no jedi" when she confronts Vader. By the time we see her in Mando- she's fought in two damn wars, and seen so much destruction because one man she knew held on too tightly to the things he loved. She's not the same person we've seen in clone wars or rebels. She knows the path she wants to take for herself, but she's not sure what that means for the jedi as a whole, if there even is a whole. I'm excited to see where her story goes, if we'll see a redefining of what it means to be a jedi like we saw with Kanan and Ezra in rebels (A difference between serving the republic to serving the galaxy and people themselves)

what does it take? to be at peace. to get used to things. to not feel overwhelmed everytime you experience something mildly unusual. i am super tired of feeling, i wish i could stop. watching the vampire diaries now makes me so nostalgic and i wish i had a humanity switch to just fucking shut everything off. i know this lacks all kinds of context so ill get started on a few things. today i visited someone at the hospital. a specific someone who is the most important person in my life. its nothing serious but its the most serious thing. anyways, given that i have spent so much time in and around hospitals i couldnt help but assure myself that i am used to it and that its nothing new. well, turns out only one of those two things are correct. this is nothing new to me, i have been spending so much time at hospitals since i was 10. what and why can be ignore because the reasons vary vividly from very deadly surgeries to a simple token. the feeling of walking down the long and empty hallways that are dimly lit is the feeling i know like the back of my hand. looking at terminally ill humans and just walking away as my heart cripples is a yearning that comes to me as easily as blinking. BUT what i have realised today, is that no matter how many times i do this, i will never get used to this. everytime it is still a fresh, overwhelming experience. but what matters is that this person is fine and so am i. that is it. also i keep thinking about a lot of things, always, obviously. but recently ive been pondering upon how people keep changing a lot. like a lot of time i spend thinking about this is wasted daydreaming or sum shit. this is what haunts me. everything that happens inside my brain is never real enough for the world but to me its the closest to reality ive ever been. idk if i should listen to myself or literally everyone else. its also about how i never want to give up. like, tf?? will i ever be ready to give up? honestly, i dont think so. because i want this to change. i do want to give up on certain things, that is what will enable me to enjoy what i have right now. the yearning to grow and want and have more, the potential to be in possesion of the best, is simply disabling me from enjoying where i am at right now. i keep thinking about how i dont enjoy the things i have now and how i let all the experiences pass because i am hopeful that i will get to experience something better. i can tell that i am never completely present in any situation, i keep thinking i will have the best situations to be present in. heck, i shouldve already been there, i should be there now. but i am not. i am simply choosing to deny where i am right now because i am not where i want to be. it makes a lot of sense when put into words but i hate that for myself. i like to cherish every experience, low or high. but right now, all i can think is, i am commercially analysing this and im getting into all types of politics in my head. maybe the thoughts are isolating themselves to change my likes and dislikes because thats one way of grieving. i dont want this. i hate this. hence, i want to give up on my dreams. but can i ever? i really do not think soooo ughhhh. maybe thats because i keep thinking that my dreams are not really dreams, they are goals that can be achieved. and somewhere i know that if i try hard enough i will achieve them but i just dont know why im not putting in the effort. or just why i did not put the effort the first time. but fuck it. im gonna try again. what have i got to lose? where i am right now. i hate that possibility. ik its not the greatest place but there is something about this that just clicks with me. so, like i said, ill keep trying. lol. and... uh... yeah, thats pretty much it for now. REGARDLESS (the irony), what kanan said about existential crisis flows in my veins: give up your dreams, death is coming, lets party!!
