Got into a ORV characters reacting to ORV fic titled Hidden Scenario - [Dramatis Personae] recently, wanted to make some fanart for it and to try out that twitter art trend I kept seeing a while back while I was at it.

orv brainrot has fully consumed me so here’s a fic that was written entirely on my notes app, only when I was at work cause that’s the only fucking time I ever got the inspiration or motivation to finish it. this is an unedited, incoherent mess of lists akin to those therapy lists that ppl write abt what makes them happy, and kind of incorporates a hc of mine which is that even after yjh came back from space, it took a while for kdj’s body to fully heal up and for him to wake up (bcs I enjoy angst). if you decide to read it, hope you enjoy it.
(he opens his eyes, and yoo joonghyuk is holding his hand and han sooyoung is reading to him and it’s everything, everything, everything)
or:
lists of love written by a protector, by a judge, by a librarian, by an author, by a regressor, by a dreamer
or:
a series of character studies framed as lists of the activities some members of kim dokja’s company look forward to and enjoy in the peacetime with the people they love

One thing I love about orv is that it initially bait and switches you by convincing you early on that the constellations are the "big bad" of the story - voyeuristic beings that gain enjoyment off the suffering of others - until the reveal that they are also going through their own scenarios. This mirrors how us as the readers are going through our own lives and our own struggles yet we consume media highlighting the experiences of others. We root for these characters, we follow their journeys, we see ourselves in them. And yet we're not villains - we're just surviving. We're escaping the struggles of our own lives by indulging in these worlds created by human imagination. Similarly, many of the constellations in orv do not have malicious intentions despite living off stories - uriel cares greatly for the incarnations she supports (as the "fangirl" archetype) and sun wukong and abfd also greatly support kimcom throughout their journey.
This is further solidified in the reveal of the oldest dream. Despite unintentionally creating worldlines through his imagination, the younger kim dokja was never a villain or "monster". He was simply a child who sook to escape the tragedies of his life through a webnovel. He depended on that novel to survive. And that was in no way the sin he thought it was - not even secretive plotter who had gone through countless regressions and witnessed the despair of the universe could hold it against him. Nor han sooyoung, nor yoo joonghyuk of the 1864th round, nor yoo sangah, nor anyone else in kimcom. No one thought dokja needed to atone for anything - they loved him and cared for him even when he couldn't love himself.
Just like kim dokja and just like the constellations, we are readers seeking an escape from the struggles of reality. And we too are loved - regardless of whether we know it or understand why.

He’s a babygirl, he’s a bottom, he’s a war criminal, he’s a ruthless motherfucker, he’s a tortured soul. He hate himself, he got a god complex, he’s a poweful entity but the most helpless creature on the planet, he’s a flawed man, he’s a savior, he’s a creator, he’s capitalism, he’s the apple to others and a monster to the latter. he’s the villain of his own story, he’s the best and worst parental figures, he got friends and in a polycule yet he’s the loneliest person in the world. He wanted in every plane of existence, there’s also a religion dedicated to him. He eat raw onion for breakfast, he has depression, he has autism, he has iron defficiency, he’s the messiah and the devil, he’s the modern prometheus. He loves his family, he subject his family into horror beyond comprehension. He overturn the foundation of the narratives for the better or worst. He’s a walking abnormality, he’s the singularity, he’s the world. He’s doomed by the narratives, he haunted the narratives, he is the narratives, he loves coat. He’s playing 5D chess with multiversal time travel but dont know how to use the microwave. He 10 steps ahead while also the biggest idiot. Everyone hates him as much as they love him
And he fucking look like this

how does one read orv and just move on? how do you read the reader's story and not gaze at the night sky just looking for him? searching for at least a part of him in everybody you walk by, hoping that someone from them has at least a percent of him.. just like how you carry a portion of his story— dreaming, wishing, praying that you're both dreaming the same dream,
the reader finally being in the happy ending.

It's called "Kim Dokja's Company" because he is the one thing that links them all, because they all surround Kim Dokja, because Kim Dokja is a lonely existence that has never had company before and the entirety of the novel is his loved ones grasping at straws to remain in his company while keeping HIM company.
It's Kim Dokja’s Company because the lonely child wanted nothing more than to have company and for the people around him to like his company.

ik im always saying that the orv fandom should stop going so hard for 1minute but im not doing myself any favours thinking too much about how kdj's first kill was kim namwoon (someone he identified with very strongly; someone he saw himself in; someone he couldn't bear to leave inside the story) and his last murder attempt was quite literally himself TWICE (through his fading away as the oldest dream and also literally trying to strike a younger version of himself). his first and last acts of violence are all against himself, and not even sacrificing himself so his companions might live but going above and beyond that. why is his self loathing so great adn his complete and utter disregard for his own life so immeasurable that he must do this every single time. ofc kdjc's came back for a silver of hope this man could be alright. bitch i would too
