First time attending a Comicon
So I wanted to make a cosplay of Violet/Lee Chaolan from Tekken, of course no one recognized me, but I’m pretty sure I did a great job.
It’s a closet cosplay, I literally didn’t buy anything except the sunglasses, and yes, the hair is all mine!

What are your thoughts on the King of Iron Fist Tournament’s role in the lore at this point? It’s obviously an important part of the series, but it has become less and less relevant to the story with each passing game. Its inclusion in Tekken 7 felt very convoluted and inconsequential. Have the games moved past the need for an actual fighting tournament considering all the personal drama everyone now has, or do you think it should be reincorporated into the central narrative more (or is it fine being a minor element like it is now)?
The Changing Role of the King of Iron Fist Tournament
This is a good question and a good point. I think you're right that the tournaments themselves have become more convoluted and unecessary to the story. I myself am more interesting in consolidating lore and making it work, since this is mostly what I do for the wiki, rather than lamenting the direction the games have taken. So if I were to give a more charitable reconstruction for why in-universe it's gone the way it has, it would be this:
So first of all, I think we can all agree it's bizarre to hold so many fighting tournaments so close together. Tekken 4 happened at tops, a year ago in game time. This was the last proper tournament.
Tekken 5 happens 2 months later (see for example Paul and Hwoarang's TK5 profiles). The Zaibatsu is in chaos at this point - Heihachi has vanished and is presumed dead, Lee assumes Kazuya has taken over, Kazuya is mad someone else has taken over, and the 'tournament' is the last cogent thought Jinpachi has as he tries to find someone strong enough to destroy his reanimated demonic body. Never-the-less, it's tournament enough for Jin to legitimately take control (although Heihachi doesn't consider it legitimate).
Now we have Tekken 6, which takes place around 6 months after Tekken 5 (mentioned by Zafina in Scenario Campaign, PSP ending texts, and more vaguely in TK7 by the Journalist). This is where the tournaments really just start to become a publicity stunt. Jin calls the 6th Iron Fist Tournament in response to Kazuya putting a price on his head (See end of the Mishima Story and the story to Tekken 6). This is at a time when he's already been at war for several months, and already lost half of Tekken Force to Lars. Jin basically seems to have launched the tournament as a distraction to all the would-be bounty hunters who might have tried to take Kazuya's bounty prize up, and instead offers them the prestige and cash of the tournament. During the course of the tournament, it's sponsor, Jin, disappears, and the tournament is cancelled.
Now we have Tekken 7, set days after the end of Tekken 6, as evidenced by Raven picking Jin's body up in the desert, a scene that directly continues from the Tekken 6 post-ending scene. Heihachi has two very good reasons to launch a new tournament - there's just been one but it got cancelled (presumeably the fighters are still in the country, since this was days ago), he needs to assert his new position as CEO, and most importantly according to him - he wants to tempt Kazuya to come, and force him to expose his Devil side to the world, and capture him in film in the process, thus permanently damaging Kazuya and G Corp's reputation, and restoring the Zaibatsu's image (Tekken 7, Chapter 3). One thing interferes with this: Akuma. After "killing" Heihachi, Akuma sights are set on Kazuya. Realising that Akuma is a powerful foe who will force Kazuya to transform, Heihachi changes his plans. He claims he's dead, so that Akuma moves on to his next target, and sets up his satellite to broadcast the fight. Heihachi cancels the tournament as part of this stunt: 1) to show he's truly dead (a similar thing was just done for Jin, after all) 2) because he no longer needs the tournament, as a better opportunity has presented itself to capture Kazuya in action (See Tekken 7, Chapter 10 where Heihachi explains all this).
This is a very round about way of saying: in less than a year we've had 4 tournaments, and it's true that they are becoming less important to the story, as evidenced especially by them being cancelled and it not affecting the plot advancement. However, I feel like they're still being used in an interesting and believable way as pawns and face-saving PR broadcasts for the corporation putting them on. Their primary role has changed, but they still serve a purpose in the story. It would be more bizarre to me if devs tried to force more importance on the tournaments, given that corporate warfare has been the driving part of Tekken 6 and 7. The shoehorned aspect of 'its called Tekken, so there has to be an Iron Fist Tournament' and 'the fighting game roster is there for vs combat, which is what the tournament is meant to represent' has obviously lost out and there are certainly some ham-fisted aspects to this choice. But I think putting the story first and finding a way to fit the tournament into this narrative was the better choice to make. For this reason, I'm fine with it continuing like this in future. I'd rather the story went where it needed to and the slightly convoluted tournament calling happened, than the game became focused on making the tournament central to the detriment of the corporate global warfare narrative they've built up.
Thank you for such an interesting question!

The more I think about it one of Bionicles biggest issues is that it has a lot of villains who feel that they could be the main villain in any other story, are arguably more interesting/compelling/have more potential as a main villain yet they feel criminally underutilized and like a sidedish when compared to Teri (which makes sense given Teri is the big bad but still).
TSO, Roodaka, Karzhani and Tren Krom are the main exmaples of this, where they are written in such a way I could see them EASILY being main villains of any other fantasy/scifi story and they certainly have important place to play, but they feel so insignificant and not much focus is put on them after they play their role (unless you read all the serials and shit like that).
And like, I guess it helps make the universe feel more alive but, it’s frustrating that there’s all these super cool ideas for main villains but they don’t get the time in spotlight and instead we are stuck with Teri and his 50 billion backup plans.
Again not everyone frustrates me as much as the other (imho from least to most my order is Roodaka > TSO >> Karzhani >>> Tren Krom (with Roodaka frustrating me the least and Tren Krom the most)) but still, it is annoying.

Kyo: So, Terry, top or bottom?
Terry: You mean like bunk beds?
Iori: More like dom or sub.
Terry: I'm more of a Subway guy than a Domino's guy, but I don't see how that's relevant??
Everyone: ...
Kazuya: I’m gonna tell him.
Kiki: Don’t you dare.
